A fantastic little device! We had a manual fabric shaver and it doesn’t even come close to this Philips electric.
We decided to give the shaver a real challenge with an old jumper that was covered in bobbles and fluffy areas all over. We started with the protector in place but realised that the jumper needed to be used with out the cap in the end and we didn’t need to worry!
Take a look at the pictures for the results, the amount of fluff that it removed was amazing. It’s like a new jumper again. Hoping it will last a long time given I can just throw some rechargeable AA batteries i there as well (although it did come with batteries already)
This is a fab wee product makes clothes look like new with hardly any effort, it never catches the fabric or pulls it, it’s never got jammed like my last one used to. My only slight niggle is the batteries I would much rather it was usb charged.
This little machine is ace! Apologies for the terrible photo but it shows you that the left side of the jumper has been debobbled and the right side is still to do. It restores clothes to a new looking state. So worth the money!
I bought two of these, one for myself and one as a gift for my mom. Had it for a while now and it does a very good job in removing fuzz, making clothes look new and fresh again, it’s very satisfying.
There is one flaw with it however. The compartment in the handle where all the fuzz goes is quite loose and slides off easily, sometimes in the middle of using it and the fuzz goes everywhere. I would say that’s a pretty big design flaw. Still give 4 starts, because everything else works fine.
Ordered this product for the obvious, previously I had issued with my clothes balling up, using a Razor always out holes in them! Then I seen this!
Item is very cheap for the quality, removed all balling very quickly, item looks like new again, defantly a good way to prolong the life of clothes.
Only issue I can see is how long the blade will last for, but I’ve seen you can buy replacements for cheap.
It does a great job! Revived older sweaters or pillow cases and they look so much better. Not it mention seeing the progress is quite satisfying. The little container is easy to remove and fluff doesn’t fly about / fall out when removing which is key.
Turned my Dad’s gardening jumper into ‘as new’ condition. Considering I had been threatening to put it in a drawer with a very hungry family of moths (some Dads do ‘ave ’em), I would say this product is worth every penny. And so does my Dad! Considering Philips have been producing mens shavers for decades, I would say this is an excellent example of transferring your know how to another market.
Wife loves running this over her tops and jumpers and even some linen to make them looks loads better.
Battery seems to last ages.
Word of warning, don’t try it on your beard. Not even for a laugh.
Bought this as I have a lot of cashmere which bobbles. I thought the little machine was great, it took longer than expected to remove them but slowly does it in circles and it all looks a lot better. Would purchase again. Other people said batteries didn’t last long but mine did not run out and did several cardigans. Would definitely recommend
I was going to turn my cushion covers into rags until I went over them with this bad boy! A good wash and de bobble with this gadget has my Eight year old cushion covers looking brand spanking new!
My Teenage daughters are also obsessed with it to keep their clothes looking fresh, even down to their socks!
It’s not just a gadget it’s a must have in our house and once you’ve tried it, I hope you’ll agree.
We actually love it so much I bought another. It’s a bargain if you consider buying new cushion covers, clothes, curtains, school uniform, basically anything fabric.
It’s also super satisfactory to use and I can’t be held responsible if you go de bobbling the shizzle out of everything. Enjoy.
I was very disappointed with how our expensive wool sofa had bobbled so badly with little use over a year. Feeling let down by the supplier I took a punt on buying this machine and I’m super pleased with the results. The sofa looks like new and the bobbles came off with ease! I’m now in the middle of going through my wardrobe and finding other things to de bobble. See pics of before and after the de-bobbling of the sofa
Having bought a jumper which recommended using a fabric shaver on it I purchased this. (Not that I need to use it on the new jumper, yet.) What a good little device. Straight away it improved two well loved jumpers that were bobbly. It is rather laborious, but that would be avoidable by shaving the garment little and often. I’m glad I have this as it means I can keep garments for longer reducing the need to buy new ones. Hoorah
Excellent product. Been shaving all my jumpers and hats back to new!
Only piece of advice I would offer is to periodically empty the small plastic section capturing the pills and the section under the blades which screws off.
You’ll hear a small drop in the motor noise; thats when I would advise emptying.
I would advise removing the batteries when cleaning so you don’t accidentally turn on the blades.
Love this product. Have a lovely m&s fairisle sweater that was getting bobbly and wanted to get rid of the bobbles and prolong it’s life. This gadget did that. It took quite a while to do the whole jumper as the unit fills up with fluff very quickly and has to be emptied. But well worth the money for the job it does. My jumper looked as good as new again.
I had one of these for years that finally packed up (not this make) so purchased a new one, great little gadget to get those bobbles off trousers, tops and socks. I absolutely love this little gadget, I would highly recommend, every house should have one.
Used to de-bobble my wool carpet where my cat had clawed at the bottom of the stairs. It worked a treat and brought the carpet up like new.
I also thought I’d try it for its intended purpose and de-bobble an old jumper. It worked well on this, albeit a little slow going as I had to run it across the jumper quite a few times to get all the bobbling.
Very happy.
Works well with sweaters especially and managed to remove some godawful lint off my favorite coat.
It has somewhat of a learning curve, depending on the fabric you use it on and sometimes it does not pick off the smaller bits.
But all in all, it’s small and handy for me to keep my clothes looking proper.
I LOVE this little gadget. Bought it a while ago on a whim, cracked it out and used it for the first time today.
First pleasant surprise, batteries were provided. It’s handheld and a little noisy (too noisy to watch TV whilst using it), but it’s super effective and very satisfying. I used it on some of my husbands cosy jumpers that just needed a bit of a glam up as he’s wearing them on Zoom for work. Very pleased with the results! Super easy to clean and empty. It does have some vicious blades inside of it, so you should definitely keep it out of reach of children.
You get what you expect. It’s lightweight, compact and a decent fit for the hand (I’m a 5′ 7″ woman)
Just be careful to stretch your fabric out flat and try not to tilt it too much as this can actually cut up the fabric. Luckily I did a practice run with the inside of my joggers before moving onto my knitted tops and jumpers.
Otherwise, no regrets!
So glad I bought this and for the price is really good made my jumper look like brand-new so easy to use doesn’t worry me at all using on expensive wool! Even used it on the sofa where the cat had a go and even done the trick then really neat little thing definitely something to have put away somewhere
So good! See my before and after for proof.
I had an expensive pair of leggings that bobbled up and looks ridiculous. This sorted them out in a few seconds! So easy to use, doesn’t damage the material underneath and everything looks good as new. If it had bobbles, I attacked it today and I am officially bobble free throughout the house even the sofa.
Product works perfect, I actually had few of this but never from Philips… but yes! It’s work better than I thought! My pillow case looks like new now. Gonna try it on other materials. Easy to clean, easy to use! Two batteries needed but one pair You have included. Good quality aswell. Recommended.
This item is very easy for me to use and very good at its job. I find it easy to operate. When it comes to removing the lid to empty the shaver I thought I was in for a problem. But when I discovered how to hold the shaver I removed the cover very easily.
Made my sweatshirt look like new. Honest I was going to buy another top but I didn’t need to after using this great little machine. If you have the patience it works a treat!
I think if a product that I buy this year going to get the gold medal, this is it. So happy with my purchase, I had three pillow that was full of bobbles, so the black and white was looking very dull. And this give their beauty back very easily. They look new and bold. Price is good for a well know name brand, also battery include that a big plus. Save my money by avoiding me to buy new pillow case. Definitely recommend
I bought it after seeing review from a blogger I follow on insta.
My husband was quite skeptical about buying ut but irony is he is the more satisfied customer.
Great product. Dont spend way too money on buying new coats. Just use this and get the job done.
This is a great little gadget. It removes the bobbles from your woolens a treat.
I was going to replace a few of my winter woolies. I thought I’d give this a go as if it doesn’t work I could always return it to Amazon.
I used it on a Weird Fish knitted sweatshirt that was only fit for the bin. The sweat shirt is now back in my wardrobe and will be worn this winter. A replacement sweat would have cost four times the cost of this product.
I recovered another WF sweat plus four M&S acrylic jumpers.
I used it on a few other woolen jumpers that looked OK. However the appearance of the jumpers improved significantly after using the debobbler.
Like new? Well no, but my clothes looked perhaps a few weeks old.
Criticisms other people have of this. Breaks if you drop it? Yes it does fly apart if you drop it on the floor but it all clips back together. Blades wear out? There’s a two year warranty send it back.
My criticisms? The centre of gravity of the thing is very biased so when you put it down on a table top it can roll. Off the table in my case. That’s how I know it clips back together. You have to persevere when removing bobbles, it’ll take an hour to cover the whole garment.
THIS IS AMAZING. So glad I purchased this, I’m having so much fun ‘de-bobbling’ everything I own, and it’s great to give some of my older things a new life, especially knitwear and gym leggings!! Only thing is I wish it was bigger, it fills up with fluff pretty quick so I have to empty it all the time and the batteries it came with ran out pretty quick but I think that’s because I used it a LOT. Also it’s quite noisy but that’s to be expected
I put on some music and set to de-bobbling all of the clothes that needed it. This thing is so fun to use and does a brilliant job.
It works far better and faster on materials such as jeans and hoodies. Using it on jumpers and cardigans was a bit more time-consuming and it is rare that your jumper will come out looking perfect in the end simply because of the material of knitted things. However, all of my stuff looks significantly better if not new, and I was surprised to see just how much lint came off of the stuff.
Be prepared to empty the device a couple of times if you are going to run it across an entire, large item such as a jumper or hoodie, as it does get filled up fairly fast if you haven’t de-bobbled the item before. However, emptying it is pretty easy to do so no problem there.
This little thing exceeded my expectations! I was looking to rescue a much loved jumper and as this was on discount I decided to give it a go. The photos speak for themselves. I’ve tried it on a number of items of different materials (jumpers, gloves, socks & scarves) and while I wouldn’t say it makes things as new as other people have described, it does do an incredible transformation.
The downsides are that it can struggle a bit with larger bubbles and it takes a while to do the job properly. The jumper in the photos took an hour, although that was doing a very good job on a particularly bad jumper. It can also get a bit uncomfortable to hold after a while and the small size does mean it needs to be emptied fairly often.
Warning – it is incredibly satisfying and addictive. You’ll end up going round the house looking for things to defuzz!
What a brilliant must have gadget!
This is honestly a smart piece of kit, you can tell its well made straight out of the box, easy fit in the hands, the operation is super simple; slide the switch up to turn on and down to turn off. Once on run the gadget over areas of clothes with bobbles on until they dissapear! (Which will super quick) It’s that easy and fast The! The clear container at the front of the gadget fills up with the unwanted bobbles so you can see when it needs empyting. Which is actually after a quite a while
Batteries are included, which is always an added bonus. So far I’ve used it multiple times on different types of clothing; t shirts, chef jackets, jumper dresses, tights and a coat
I’ve been able to give them a second lease of life with this little shaver. It’s just brilliant, super quick, easy to use, the batteries are still going strong after all of the above, but will be replaced with rechargeable when finished
The only downside is the you can’t buy replacement blades, so I’m worried that one day it will become blunt and won’t work as well
This is a great device, easy to use and has removed all the bobbles large and small from my winter woolies. It’s gentle but effective and well priced. Only negative is the cover of the lint catcher slides off quite easily whilst you are using the machine but not a big problem. Would definitely recommend.
Got this for my Popsy dresses and they bobble very quickly. It’s a fantastic device.
Have done lots of dresses and my partner’s t-shirts and it really prolongs the life of clothing.
Since then I have given up on Popsy but focusing on the rest of my wardrobe and giving it a second life with this fantastic shaver.
Be careful with thinner materials and around the seam, I think I made a hole in one of my dresses other than that it’s great.
It made my cushion look like new after looking worse for wear from being in the washing machine.
However, it takes a LONG time. I could shave my entire body in less than half the time it took me to do one cushion. The bit the collects the fabric fills up so quickly, so do this next to a bin, or you’ll be getting up every 2 minutes to empty it. I found pulling the fabric taught made things a little quicker.
Overall worth the money and pleased I don’t need to buy new cushions!
I have to say this is an amazing little gadget!
Firstly, I have an expensive wool coat, which was starting to look tired and was terribly bobbled after wearing it for 2 winters. I decided to wash the coat whilst the weather has still been nice recently and “prep” it for this winter.
After hand washing the coat it was still bobbled, with money being a bit tighter this year I can’t afford a new coat to replace it, I decided to buy the Philips Fabric Shaver.
Tips – I would recommend holding the device upright so the lint will collect down into the tank. Along with hanging the garment you’re debobbling. Also moving the head in a figure of 8 motion over the area you’re working on!
Pros
-Batteries Included
-Easy to use
-Makes garments look new again!
(The photos don’t do it justice)
-Lightweight
-Powerful, and effortlessly removes bobbles/pilling
Cons
-Took 90 minutes approx to debobble my coat
-Tank which collects the lint is small, so it took around 14/15 times.
-Head has a small surface area
This is an amazing tool it gives garments a new lease of life I wish that I had purchased this sooner. I highly recommend this fabric shaver it really does transform fabrics that are looking really worn and tatty and makes them look brand new again. Its really quick and easy to use and results are instant. I purchased the pink colour simply because it was the cheapest and the colour is not offensive at all I am not sure why the other colours are priced slightly higher when they all do the same job! Please let me know if you find this review helpful.
This is awesome! I’ve never really taken much notice of these as I thought them gimmicky, however I decided to give it a try and it’s fab. I did speed through the batteries as I debobbled everything in sight. It’s brought new life back to many items (blankets, hoodies, cushions, tops, shorts etc.).
Worth buying.
Have had bobble removers before, but always the cheaper versions. This, however is a totally different beast. I had three knitted cotton jersey summer dresses that had become badly bobbled over last 2-3 years, so thought I’d try this. Wow! My dresses now look almost new again. You can hear it actually removing the bobbles. Well worth the extra money, and would definitely recommend
Like everyone reviewing here, it seems I’m not alone in wanting to revive an old favourite. My burgundy cardigan has been in my wardrobe for so long that I can’t even remember when or where I bought it. It’s got to be a good ten years old though, and despite washing it carefully (It’s a mix of wool, synthetic and alpaca), the bobbling on it meant it was consigned to only being worn for the dog walk, rather than in its heyday when it was my constant companion in the office.
The Philips fabric shaver comes with two AA batteries. The battery hatch is easy to open and pop them in. Slide the switch down and you’re in business. One criticism I do have here is that both the battery hatch and the lint collection drawer are quite easy to accidentally catch, and come open with even the lightest touch. There were a couple of instances where the lint tray was accidentally pinged open when I changed the angle I was using the shaver at, and it deposited all the lint shavings onto my cardigan. Frustrating!
I experimented with a cheap cardigan first, and it coped well with the chunky wool. It did take a couple of passes to get the bobbles off, but I was pleased with the results.
Then it was onto the beloved burgundy cardigan. I could hear the motor struggling a bit, which surprised me, as the wool of this cardigan is much thinner than the cheap cardigan. I tried a few different motions, but I don’t think any one was better than the next. As you can see from my photos, I took a good few sessions to get rid of the worst of the pilling. Probably my fault for leaving it so long to try lint shavers! After about ten minutes, I stopped, because I’m pretty sure that’s the best I’m going to get from this little device. There’s still a bit of low level pilling, which I was a tad disappointed by, but it has left me with a far more wearable item. It is no longer something which is relegated to wearing on the dog walk.
Overall, I like it. It does feel very lightweight and plasticky in the hand, and it didn’t remove 100% of the bobbles, but it does mean that I have a wearable cardigan again, so from that point of view, it’s mission accomplished.
Obsessed. I was nervous to use it on nike & lululemon sports gear which have gone a little bally in the wash but oh my god this little device is a game changer! Doesn’t harm the fabric, sucks all the little lint balls up. Used on ikea couch too and it seems to work!
One downside is the battery tray lid slides off quite easily when using as does the lint compartment. 100% recommended
Does exactly what it’s suppose to do!!
I used to debobble all the pilling on my material sofas. My 2&3 seater sofas and footstool had so much pilling all over but mainly on the seat cushions. Just an amazing the difference it has made, took over 5 hours to do them all but well worth it as they now look as new as they was a year ago!
such a brilliant gadget.
The amount of fibers once all finished, hard to believe that’s how badly the sofas needed doing.
I also used on a hoodie and looks good as new!
Overall worth every penny!
Had one of these years ago and would take ages to get rid of a few bobbles, these have advanced now obviously, one swipe gets rid of all the bobbles! Bigger head too. Great purchase.
Wow. I’ve now morphed into a debobbling obsessive mad women . Like others on here have said, I too love the satisfying crunchy noise as this amazing gradget just eats your bobbles away. I already own an unbranded version of this, which is rubbish in comparison. Sometimes in life you get what you pay for with a familiar recognised well known brand. This one is truly brilliant. I’m a big White Stuff fan but absolutely hate the bobbles on all their cardigans and jumpers. It’s stresses me out. White Stuff bobbling is now a thing of the past. It’s quite scary seeing the clear collection box get filled up with fluff. The same satisfaction I get with the dyson handheld collection drum………just where does it all come from! Highly recommend this. It’s 5 stars from me. I’m mega happy.
Well, this is a little gem! A practical boredom buster!
We’ve used it on sofa cushions, coats, jumpers, a child’s car mat and a foot stool! All the bobbles are gone, and the items look like new. Trouble is, when you put the items in amongst the still bobbly stuff, you just can’t stop de-bobbling the rest of it!
Only niggle is the size of the collector area, as it needs frequent emptying. Pro tip: bring a bag with you and empty as you go rather than running back to the kitchen to pour it away. It took me far too long to realise this, although my step count went up!
I literally went around my house finding fabric to de-pill. I LOVE this thing. It lasts ages from the batteries, it always does the job and is easy to pack in a bag and take with me for emergencies. The difference it makes to old clothes is night and day. It makes them look new and actually makes them feel soft and comfy again. I’d recommend anyone gets one of these if you’re the type to wear clothes till they fall apart and want to breathe a little last breath of life back into them.
My old one of several years decided to go kaput. Was initially surprised at the cost of these ‘de bobblers’ probably about double, since I last bought one. I liked the look of this one in black and even though a bit more than other colours, decided to buy. (Annoyed somewhat that in writing this review it’s actually cheaper than when I bought last week!) First of all, It did not arrive by 8pm on the delivery day. Left it till late the next day before enquiring. Response was reasonably quick. Said it had been posted on the 5th March, it was now the 9th. Advised me to wait rest of week and then contact them if it did not turn up. They also gave me a tracking number. I tried tracking myself, Royal Mail, but it said they would advise me once it was in their system when it would be delivered. A bit confusing!! Anyway it arrived today. Well packaged, in pristine condition. Looks good, and although quite light, it feels quite sturdy. My old one had broken half way through de bobbling a very expensive cardigan. I have learnt a long time ago not to press down hard as if you do this you run the risk of putting a hole in the item of clothing. So I put in the Phillips batteries ( a bonus) that came with it and started. It may be well to point out at this point, that you need to take the plastic circular cover off!! I thought it wasn’t working very well until I noticed I hadn’t done this! Well, wow! It’s good, it’s very very good! I ran it lightly over the wool, backwards forwards, side to side and in circular motions, in next to no time I was done. My cardigan looks great, like new! The little carton that fills up with the fluff had to be emptied once while I did it, and once again at the end. Quite a little mound of fluff! There was a bit left in the carton clinging to the edges, which I’m sure if you really wanted to could be washed out and dried before putting back on. Overall very pleased, with product. Beats my old one hands down. Looks good. Probably a bit baulky for travelling, but it’s not something I would take away with me anyway. Would recommend and buy again, but hopefully not for a while!!
I’ve been using this shaver for about a month now and I can see why the reviews are so good. The first time I used it, I literally couldn’t believe my eyes! It cleaned even the most worn out, saddest looking of my sweaters. I’m very very pleased with this and I have no idea how I used to live without it before…
I wish I had bought one of these years ago, probably one of the best things I’ve bought. I’ve got multiple items of clothing which look tired just because of the bobbling and have considering getting rid. But since using this they now have a new lease of life. So easy to use, you literally turn it on and work over the bobbles on the fabric, and they are gone. I have used it on knitted cushions, joggers, coats, jumpers-works a dream. Not had any issues with it damaging the fabric, but I would recommend avoiding pulls/loose stitching. Can’t recommend enough.
Seems quite well designed and sturdy and I’m generally pleased with the result (jumpers and cardies are wearable again avoiding the need to consign them to ‘fabric recycling’). The only negatives are the smaller than it looks fluff collector – which needs emptying frequently and the fact that it can take quite a few attempts to remove the bobbles (but I’m sure this issue would be the same for any manufacturer).
It is small ,easy to handle and copes with removing the fluff from sweaters etc. Once you have learned how to use it well and how to dismantle the sections it brought my clothes that had ‘pilled’ over the years well. Move it slowly over the garment, it works better that way and ‘little and often’ is the best guide in other words do not let the task get too much to handle all at once. The section which holds the fluff after use fills up quickly so empty it often when in use. Overall I am pleased that I bought it. I have only used it on clothes so far so I cannot comment on how it would work on other fabric items.
Best thing I ever got for removal of lint.very quick and does wonders with clothing. So easy to clean and battery operated. I was amazed of the result and so just few second in small area of my blazer. So happy about this. Safe for clothing too, doesnt cut them like some similar items on the market.
Perfect! Takes the bumpy fluff off clothes, and really makes them look like new. You have to take the clear plastic safety lid off before use, which is not easy to spot the first time using it! Don’t press down hard when using it. (No instructions included, but it is simple to use). Pretty blue colour casing.
This product is brilliant. Brought it based on an article listing best products trending on amazon you can’t live without. Was sceptical at first but after reading the reviews I thought I’d give it a shot. I was not disappointed! fluff balls are easily removed and the carriage removes easily to discard the accumulated fluff, Brilliant! Have not used a clothes brush since purchasing.
I did not know this type of tool even existed before reading about it in a book about corporate image (Look like the leader you are). I chose the Philips one as it had good reviews. Everybody should have this in their home. Basically it shaves off any fabric piles on any clothes and makes them look as new. I have used this on some clothes from cheap fashion houses that pile easily, on more expensive tracksuits from well know brands after the fabric was damaged from rubbing whilst seating stones, and on cashmere jumpers. (For wool and cashmere you need to be delicate and careful). Overall an amazing product. And using it is very relaxing.
This product has saved us loads of money, after my husbands work tshirt all came out bubbly we thought we would have to throw them away, but this product has brought them up like new. Highly recommend, and it’s very satisfying doing it.
Brilliant product. Has brought back to life several wool jumpers, which had started to look a bit old and worn. The price is excellent as are the results achieved. As a result, 2 other members of my family have bought this product, and they too are delighted. Would highly recommend. Using this product has genuinely meant that the need to buy new wool jumpers has been avoided – good for the environment as well as the bank balance.
I purchased this product sceptically, having owned something similar a number of years ago that was pretty useless. I was drawn in by all the reviews saying how great it was, and was thinking to myself that the ones that said it turned their woolies back to their brand new condition were probably exaggerating. Er, no they weren’t! I treated myself to a lovely Seasalt jumper last autumn which I wear to death, but it had bobbled really badly and looked utterly scruffy. A solid 10-15 minutes with this gadget and, you know what, the jumper looks like it was only just purchased! Very good product, it will be difficult to be disappointed in this if you choose to buy it.
Just the best debobbler machine I’ve had, great for revitalising jumpers, coats etc. My only criticism is that the case to hold the contents can come off rendering the bobbles all over the place. Watch how you hold it. You can remove the outer ring which gives a more closer fit to the fabric. Highly recommend this machine.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this item but the reviews were good so thought I’d take a chance. It’s absolutely brilliant! Bought it mainly for my jumpers that are bobbling but I used it on some cushions in our lounge that have weirdly bobbled quite badly!
It took just a few minutes to do each cushion- both sides and removed every bobble on them. I’ve included some photos in my review as I couldn’t describe how good this de-bobbler is!
Lightweight, quick to use and remove the bobbles from the part they go into on removal. Used it on jumpers and results were great. I’m literally searching the house to find something to use it on! Highly recommend it.
My clothes have a new lease of life. They genuinely look brand new. This is going to save me a fortune in buying replacement items because the old ones look shabby, and a bit better for the environment too. Every household should have one (my mum requested one for Christmas after seeing me use mine, and two of my friends bobble off their clothes together. I’m serious. It’s addictive.). Can not recommended highly enough.
Wow, where do I begin. I was looking for a comb for my cashmere socks (I know, boujee AF). And I came across this wondrous invention. After reading the many glowing reviews, and seeing the impressive before and after pictures, I knew I’d struck gold.
Completely thrilled and over the moon with it. I literally cannot stop debobbling!! Only slight concern is that I am developing an addiction. Photos are random examples of the astonishing results.
had no idea anything like this existing until an amazon search a few days ago, my world will never be the same again lol. I have 3 kids who wear lots of wool / fleece, and their clothes get super pill-y really quickly thanks to getting scraped on things and sticky stuff like apple hands going all over them. This little machine has revived them and made them look nearly new again. Worked very well on fleece and chunky wool, and pretty well on a fine merino wool blanket. So satisfying and weirdly addictive
I order this tool based on reviews but I didn’t expect too much. I was ready to throw away 3 pair of trousers despite they were the most comfortable ones ,only because I couldn’t get rid of that bobble. Its took me some time but I save 75 and the problem was that company doent makes that model at all. So, I wa so happy, I spend all day “fixing” a coat , a cardigan etc. This tool us something which should be in any house. Another good thing was the batteries. After hours of work they were still good and work properly. I would consider one with charger in the future.Anyeay the tool.comes with 2 year warranty so you have peace in your mind about it!
Beware ladies and gents – this gadget is highly addictive!!! I’m wondering how I’ve ever done without it!! I received mine from Amazon two days ago and in my first sitting I’ve done: 4 wool mix coats, 1 wool jacket, 6 merino/cashmere jumpers. God I’m feeling good!!
IT’S SO EASY TO USE.
IT DOES THE JOB.
IT GIVES YOUR CLOTHES A NEW LEASE OF LIFE – 100%.
You know how tired garments look with that piling. You just feel scruffy. Especially where there’s more friction/contact such as elbows, underarms, where you carry your bag. But beware of the invisible fuzzy build up too. It’s not quite piling but rather a thin layer of fuzzy coating you acquire on your wooly clothes over time. It makes them look terribly old but you cannot even see it to make something about it. Well fear no more. Grab one of these shavers, and voila! Brand new jumper. Brand new shiny coat. The colours shine through again as you remove the greyish/whitish substance.
Also a tip from me. After you’ve nicely finished your heavier clothes such as coats, put them on and ask someone to use the shaver on your shoulders and upper back. As these parts are curvy, it really helps when you have someone in the coat when you’re doing these sides.
Ok I will stop. Do buy this product. You will wonder why you didn’t get it earlier.
Happy clothes shaving lol
Love it! We had an embroidered duvet cover set that had bobbled all over; the texture was horrible to touch or sleep on so I’d stopped using it. Using this gadget has totally revived the covers; it doesn’t need pressure and is really simple to use. It dealt with the embroidery no problem (just watch out for stray loose threads as they may well get trimmed, but secure threads are fine). It did need emptying fairly frequently but it is a simple, easy and quick process so not a problem. I’m really happy with the results, and also that I don’t now need to buy a new duvet cover!
This is a very good product with one slight annoyance. The good – it really works well and de-fluffs wool sweaters, coats, scarves, etc. Some old favourites were given a new lease of life and for the money it is a fantastic product. (In fact I found it due to a start up selling something similar for many multiples of the price and me thinking there must a decent company out there doing something similar at a reasonable price). The one annoyance is that the plastic part at the front (which you take off to get the fluff out when you are holding it over a bin) comes off quite easily so sometimes you end up with fluff on the floor of your room that needs to be swept up.
***Updated Review***
What a brilliant gadget! I hadnt come across one of these, i googled how to remove bobbles from clothes and this popped up. Its not that i wash a garment once and then chuck it out but after multiple washes i get frustrated at how a lot of clothes just seem to become bobbled to the point of not being able to wear them for anything other than painting and decorating. Theres no ryhme or reason to these, inner wear, t shirts, coats, pants, jumpers, so much stuff seems to get ruined with bobbles!
This is a smart piece of kit, you can tell its well made straight out of the box, easy to fit in the hand, its operation is super simple, slide the switch on and run the head over areas of clothes with bobbles on until they dissapear! Its that easy. The clear container at the front of the gadget fills up with the unwanted bobbles so you can see when it needs empyting.
Batteries are included, another bonus, so its just a case of unbox and away you go. So far ive used it on six t shirts, two pairs of work pants, a coat, three hooded tops and two fleece jackets one of which ive posted pictures showing a before and after of different parts of the fleece. Ordainarily all of these items would have been used for DIY or gardening and then binned however ive been able to give them a second lease of life with this little shaver. Its just brilliant, super quick, easy to use, the batteries are still going strong after all of the above.
I totalled the cost of the items its saved so far and its over 400 worth, so considering this is 10 its an absolute bargain, only dissapointment is that i didnt come across it sooner! Buy one and save yourself a small fortune in clothing purchases.
***** Update *****
I like to report on products sometimes after a lot more use, good or bad, these defuzzer is still going strong after a couple of months. I have saved so much more money by simply de bobbling rather than replacing. Having been through the loft and picked out loads of outdoor gear i havent worn for a while i rejuvenated another couple of fleeces as per pictures, several hats, even socks!
And i still havent had to change the batteries, amazing!
I have recently bought a car that has half leather and half alcantara seats and the alcantara sections had quite a lot of bobbling, I had read on a forum that these machines would be able to remove it so got this one. I chose this as Philips is a well known brand and is only about 5 more than the unknown chinese brands you see on here and I have to say its worked brilliantly! I wish I had taken photos but I was too eager to get to work on the seats, it’s taken all the bobbling off bar the areas where the stitching is recessed so the flat blade can’t really get at them, but that’s not the fault of the shaver. Pressing down firmly in those areas gets the worst of it off and the end result is well worth the 13 I spent buying this! The drivers seat managed to fill the bobble catcher to full all on its own and that was just from the seat base so it removes a lot but doesn’t damage the material. I took me roughly 5-10 mins per seat and its removed all the bobbles. I came inside and tried it on a cushion and it also works great on them too. Highly recommended!
This is one of those products that you don’t realise just how useful it is until you get it. Works really well taking bobbles off with a single pass. It’s turned quite a few older jumpers that were destined to just being worn around the house or when working in the garden to items that I can wear out in public. A pair of batteries last for quite a while in it, and the bobble/thread collector fits enough for a jumper or two before it needs emptying.
I’ve used countless Philips products over the many years and you can pretty much trust them to make consistent reliable products.
A product as simple as a Fabric shaver, you’d think is hard to get wrong or right. Well i’ve gone through many fabric shavers in the past which are from what can only be described as a pound shop. Even those purchased at John Lewis, will be of a similar pound shop quality. Philips however, have produced a device which is easy to use, well thought out and great quality.
The Fabric shaver comes with a little brush to clean the inside of the machine and its little blades. I have used this on cashmere sweaters, scarves, cotton shorts and polyester. The blades have some sort of spring mechanism which prevents it from smashing up the metal mesh grill. This is easily done with some of the cheaper fabric shavers.
Definitely recommend this product as it works absolutely fantastically
This is genius ! I have used this on clothes that looked so old I would only do the gardening in them and they look brand new ! Be careful with loose threads and around seams though as it’s quite easy to snag a hole . I find that if the garment you are working on is stretched on the ironing board you can get a better finish . Have revamped all my wool winter coats that had gone bobbly under the arms and loads of jumpers and all my toddlers tights to great success. Again beware of making holes in thin fabrics . Weirdly therapeutic – batteries last for ages – very glad I purchased .
Wasn’t expecting too much, but quickly and effectively de-bobbled my fleece. Seems to work best with the spacer removed, although I suspect I’m slighlty reducing the fabric’s fluffiness in doing so. Recommended.
I had many clothes items that were looking ‘tired’ from being fluffy and bobbly. A new Farrah hooded top that seemed to bobble immediately made me finally replace a cheap version of one of these fuzz remover things with this Philips one.
It works really well, and de-bobbles your items effectively, re-freshing them and making them look less worn.
Now my wife and I, middle aged and tired have taken to ‘de-bobbling’ each others clothes that we are wearing whilst sat on the couch of an evening. I mean, it’s not even kinky stuff like we are wearing EACH OTHERS clothes or anything. Just our own clothes. Grooming each other like a pair of primates.
This fabric shaver may also ruin your sex life, but at least your clothes will look nicer.
excellent product that does what it says
occasionally you may have to push quite hard to remove fuzz balls
battery life is long as you wont be using it all the time
easy to remove compartment and empty
if you need to clean up some clothes I highly recommend this
I’m giving 5 stars for a combination of reasons especially the discounted price. It’s easy to use and no risk of making holes in the garment which has happened plenty of times using a razor in the past. Some larger items can take a long time, depending on the material. I just finished a very thick jumper that had exceptionally large bobbles. This took me over 1 1/2 hours but it looks new again and no longer for just wearing around the house. Hats and gloves take no time at all. But best of all for me I feel I am doing something to combat fast fashion and landfill reducing the need for repeat purchases. A high percentage of items we donate end up in landfill. One thing, there is no safety switch, so if you push the on switch by mistake it will still operate with the head off and blades exposed. Not sure of the battery usage, I’ve used 4 AA so far but have defuzzed quite a lot of items. There are no gimmicky LED lights on the device etc which is a plus.
Bought this as I snagged a couple of expensive Patagonia synthetic sweaters second hand for an excellent price on Ebay – I think others were put off by the heavy bobbling. A few minutes with this and they looked ten times better! People had suggested sweater stones and other manual devices, but I took a gamble on this and am really glad I did. No mess, quick and painless.
This is my honest review. After reading all the reviews I brought this fabric shaver and it did not disappoint me for the functioning part but what i dont like about it is the cleaning part. . The opening to the lint chamber is small and narrow so once it fills up if you hold it upside down and shake some of the lint comes out but most of the time they get stuck there and i have to use something to pull them out. I wish it had opening at the rear end to clean the lint. However it does a great job and did give my clothes new life. It’s a shame that a spare blade is not available to buy. The motor still works but the blade is blunt.
This little device is absolutely amazing – I’m not sure how I didn’t know about these things before now! I’ve always had clothes that just end up bobbling for whatever reason and usually just throw them out rather than faffing around with a razor, but this little device has changed that. It removes even the smallest of bobbles from all of my clothes and never, ever damages them. Absolutely love it and will buy another if this one ever dies.
I love this little device. It can repair old clothing which has began to bobble. It works so well on lots of different materials. It has bought life back into shirts that looked old. It leaves fabrics smooth and flawless. I have used it on a tartan blanket which I thought was ruined after putting it into the dryer. It is time consuming but it requires no skill so can be done absent mindedly which watching TV or reading a book. The unit itself does not use much energy as I barely chage the batteries. It is a bit noisy but not excessively. It stores the bobbles in a removable tray which is easy enough to slide in and out. It seems to be made well. Only negative is that it is strangely addictive. I have found myself purchasing bubbles items from charity shops to repair!
Ultimately this device saves you money and helps the environment.
I hope you found this helpful.
Over the years I have bought many different types of de-bobble gadgets. This is by far the best. For all those jumpers that look a bit old but just fluffy and bobbles this will make them as new. I just loved defluffing them all. All my friends and family will be getting for presents!
I have wanted one of these for years but put off buying having read and heard from others that they have caused holes in clothing. I chose this ones simply because it’s a trusted brand.
Well, I have to say I’ve never been so satisfied and so pleased I’ve bought it! I have just used this on two cashmere jumpers, knitted wool socks, regular cotton socks, ribbed leggings, regular cotton leggings and tights, a cashmere blanket and it has given everything a new lease of life! I used it with a very light hand and in a circular motion and it worked a dream! I made sure the areas I worked on were flat and used a small ironing board to work on.
The fabric shaver has a guard so ensures the blade only catches the bobbles and not the garment. I was a bit weary about using it on tights due to how delicate the fabric is but found I was able to get close enough to get the small bobbles – I took the guard off and it worked amazingly. I didn’t apply any pressure as I didn’t want to risk catching the fabric in the blade.
The downsides are that there are no replacement blades for when they eventually dull which I feel may happen quite quickly as they are very thin. It also isn’t rechargeable so is costly in the long run. The batteries that came with the shaver only just lasted all the above items – roughly 4-5hours
Arrived this morning, and I have just spent a couple of relaxing hours using it. I set up the ironing board at a low level, sat down, put on my favourite radio station, and de-fuffed 3 sweaters and a knitted dress. They all look a lot better, and the worse the condition when I started, the more noticeable the improvement. I think it is quite expensive as it is rather flimsy, so I don’t know how long it will last. The little brush supplied with it is only good for cleaning round the blades I used the rubber tipped end of a pencil to clean out the fluff container. I also used a lint roller on each garment as I finished it, to get rid of any little loose bits left behind. Nice that batteries are included.
The reviews you will read about this device working and reviving clothes are accurate! Since getting it yesterday I have used it on 3 woolly cardigans and a woollen jumper – all of which were destined for textile recycling –
until now! The photos aren’t the best – sorry but I forgot to take photos of the other garments. You can see in the these photos the before and after from using the device.
Also, it comes supplied with batteries.
I wore one of them yesterday and it’s not an exaggeration to say that they all look like new again. I particularly find White Stuff clothes are terrible for pills and bobbles. I know have two White Stuff cardigans that are restored. I am very happy!
It’s fairly easy to clean although the lute brush provided doesn’t look like it last forever. I find that opening the front up and gently blowing the fluff out of the blades worked well.
I don’t often leave reviews but this little thing is amazing ! Having spent a fair amount of money on a lambs wool jumper from a well known UK Department store I was horrified when within two wears it looked like something out of the rag bag , tried using a conventional wool comb which seemed to make the problem worse , then remembered I’d had one of these years ago and thought I’d try again given I’d seen no response from said store to other people’s reviews complaining of excessive pilling …and hey presto jumper is wearable again ! Not sure how long the jumper is going to last given how much comes off each time but at least now I will get some wear out of it.
This is possibly one of the most satisfying and best value products I’ve purchased; certain jumpers and shirts have now avoided the charity bag. So easy to use and really works well to remove piling from clothes. Just watch my video to see! Only problem is I’ve become a bit addicted to going through my wardrobe finding more clothes to tidy up! It comes with Philips batteries and so far Battery life seems good. Very happy I purchased this 🙂
Over the years I’ve bought many cheap, cheerful little lint removing machines so I thought I’d splash out on this one. This is the best ever because 1) It removes lint at a good speed, it even picks up fine bobbling 2) the blades are nice and sharp and it doesn’t damage your clothes 3)This double the size of the previous machines I’ve had yet ergonomic. The build quality is excellent too. All in all a worthy investme
This is fantastic – we have two lovely Multi York sofas (I’d just have gone to the manufacturer except they’ve gone into liquidation!), and some cushions, which had all gone very bobbly. I’ve used this and they all look brand new! It does take a while as the head isn’t huge, plus it needs emptying quite often, but if you stick the TV on while you’re using it the time passes quickly enough! Can’t comment on battery life as yet, however it’s still going strong after 2 whole sofas and 4 cushions. Would recommend.
This is a real money saver.
When it comes to clothes i find things dont last as long as they used to. The material becomes bobbly and looks old and worn when really I’ve not had it that long. I cant afford to waste money on clothes that i stop wearing after a few weeks because of bobbling!
This gadget shaves off the bobbles without damaging the garment and gives clothes another lease of life. I’ve debobbled everything i could find and its surprising what a difference it makes and now my wardrobe is full of clothes I’m happy to wear again.
I had a coat which I loved. I would wear it all year around. Sadly, the result of this was that it became quite worn. The material became bobbly all over and this coat which I loved was actually rather scruffy. I looked absolutely everywhere for something similar. it had a 1940’s feel to it and was quite elegant. The addition of a fur collar meant that it could easily be worn night and day. Oh I love that coat, but my goodness it was manky!
In a Hail Mary I decided to buy this. It wasn’t about the money, it really was just that I didn’t want to have to throw my loved coat away. Anyway, not really expecting it to have much effect I set to work. I’ll be honest, it did take me a while and I had to empty and clean it out about 10 times! But, what I was left with was well worth it!
The coat is like new once more. In it’s newly revitalised state I was not embarrassed to get it cleaned too. I could not be more pleased! My only regret is that I didn’t take any ‘before’ pictures because there transformation was truly miraculous.
Yes, this little gadget has saved me a lot of money but for me, it wasn’t about that. it is about the fact that I have got back my favourite coat! I firmly believe that this or one like it should be as important to a household as a sewing kit.
I bought this gadget to give a new lease of life to a wool coat and it’s swiftly become my favourite gadget ever (however uncool that makes me..)
Despite being initially terrified that this would rip through the fabric, it works like a dream, just slide it gently acros and the bobbles disappear. (It also makes a really satisfying noise as it smooths out the fabric).
Another great plus is that the debobbler comes with batteries in the box, which these days is a small miracle in itself. My partner is now in fear of sitting down too long as I walk around the house looking for bobbles to banish!
Excellent piece of machine. I wish I had bought one sooner. I’m going to buy a spare one for the future that’s how good I found it to be. To get the most out of it as someone suggested work it in small areas before you know it, your clothing will be back to life again.
I have had this for a year now and it’s so useful and works brilliantly. Jumpers that have gone a bit bobbly under the arm are magically returned to new! I like white stuff clothes but I’m afraid their jumpers and hoodies don’t wear well at all and swiftly need an all over shave with this little tool. I do it not by lying the garment flat on the floor, but over my knee, doing a small section at a time. It seems easier to flatten it across my leg whilst wearing jeans to do this. It fills up quickly with fluff and easily empties. The garment is smooth when finished and miraculously stays this way! Be careful with seems if they stick up proud and avoid these. I took a favourite teal coloured Mango wool jacket to the charity shop as it had gone very bobbly- wish I’d had this tool then, I could have had years more wear.
I bought this at the end of last year, (2016) & I was very pleased with it. My sweaters look like new & the motor is quite powerful. Unfortunately this past week while cleaning the blades & container from the ‘fluff’ one of the blades broke off. I contacted Philips & they are sending a new one within 3-5 days. More than satisfied not only with the product but with the service as well!!
After purchasing several cheap, no-brand models throughout the years, I decided to spend the cash and go for this, wish I had done it in the first place! Far better performance in cleaning up our garments, one or two swipes and its done its job. The build quality feels like its going to last, and so far after many uses the blades are still very sharp.
Bobbled sheets and blankets are one thing, but a mattress with a bobbled surface…….like the Princess and the Pea, how are you supposed to get comfortable?! Rather than buy a new mattress I thought this was worth a try, especially at the reduced price.
What a miracle, it removes all pills, lumps and bumps without any damage to the fabric, and I can have a comfy nights sleep.
If you have any fabrics that are a bit bobbly / worn, this is a wonder gadget.
I had a favourite, expensive jumper that was riddled with bobbles, and really only ready for the bin, but I couldn’t bear chucking it, so I thought I would try a lint shaver. I remember the original ones years ago, that didn’t work particularly well, but I read the reviews of this more expensive Philips one, and thought I would give it a go.
It arrived quickly in a branded box, so would look great as a present. It comes with two Philips AA batteries and a small brush to clean the grille.
I firstly tried it on the sleeves of my bobbly jumper. Although I had to go over each area a few times, and in alternative directions, it came up like new! I just couldn’t believe the difference. The photo shows the before and after, including the lint that came off after the back of just one sleeve. I then completed the rest of the jumper in just a few minutes. I’m so impressed with it, much better that I could have imagined.
It is very easy to empty by just sliding the lint holder off and tapping it against the side of a bin. I’m not yet sure how long the batteries will last, but you could use rechargeable to save money.
I’m so glad I read the reviews and paid a bit more, and that’s why I want to endorse the product too. Highly recommended.
Just received this and tested it. I wanted one capable of handling bigger bobbles than the cheap one I already had. This is VERY good! It’s taken big bobbles off a heavy knit jumper as shown in the video. There’s a supplied partial cover which seems to expose only the smaller, inner holes, presumably for smaller bobbles, but I haven’t tested it with the cover on. I was hoping to find out what the cover was for in the manual, but it’s rubbish! It basically says – “turn it on to use and don’t eat the device.”
It has a huge cutting face which is much better than previous ones I have used, which have had much smaller cutting faces.
Great for resurrecting old jumpers and Tshirts that have become a little ‘sad’
I never ever write reviews but felt like I have to for this one because said as it may sound, I’m seriously happy with this little thing and I even risk it has been the best investment in my life. Not a big one though as the price is really really friendly as well.
Bobbling is my pet peeve. Doesn’t matter how expensive a garment is it may get bobbly after just one wear and then your clothes look like they are old. It’s so so annoying. So far I’ve been trying to get rid of them manually, with pumice stones and razors but they are so long going and I never got near the result I hoped for. I also tried the cheaper versions of this shaver but they left behind stuff that I needed to remove then in other ways. So it was a constant losing battle as I never had time to keep on top of it. I may be bordering on OCD with this and this little kit managed to make me happy and that’s a thing! It is so fast and so effective. You can make a jumper looking like new in like two minutes. It has a bigger head than the cheaper versions and has different size holes so bigger bobbles are getting through it as well. The only negative thing I can say is just a small one, that the container could be bigger.
I was initially concerned because the price for this was much more than others for sale, but then again I had tried cheaper versions and never got that great a result.
So I went ahead, spent my pennies and received the shaver.
As you can see in the photos, it came with full instructions and guarantee, a cap and it’s own good quality batteries. I have tried it with rechargable batteries and noticed no difference in performance (apart from when the batteries run low, obviously) so that saves on battery costs.
I initially used it on a gorgeous wool jumper, block colours of black and tan. Unfortunately the jumper decided to moult during a wash, all over the other dark items UGH (serves me right for not using my wash bags). Whilst I eventually managed to clean up the other items, this jumper just would not de-bobble well, and after a second and third wash (each after a shave attempt with cheaper items) the bobbling was back to bad, and the jumper went from one of my fave tops to being put at the back of the drawer.
The tan photos don’t show the bobbling that well, nor do the dark photos show the dark bobbling but it does show the tan moulting that is a nightmare to try and remove. The result photos are from using the shaver 2 minutes in each area. The dark picture doesn’t show the full area that I did but does show you the great results. You can see how much was removed after just 1 min of shaving the dark area. I tried to take a photo of the shavings from the tan area, but the fluff inside the shaver didn’t show up well on the photos.
Even better, after a first wash, there was slight bobbling but nowhere near as bad as it had been, and after another quick shave and eventually another wash there was no noticable bobbling. Whilst I am sure the bobbling will come back, I now know that this shaver is definately up to the task and well worth the money.
