This product is honestly the best thing I’ve bought in the last few months. We have a new baby, and he had a cold in the first 2 weeks he was born. I then bought this purifier and since then neither the baby nor anyone in the family has fallen ill.
It actually works. I regularly clean the filter and it traps so much dust. The machine itself looks stylish and modern, and doesn’t really take up much space. The sleep design with the light fits well with any decor – we have it in our living room and it just blends in.
You can control it via the app. I usually set it to auto and leave it on that. I have timed it to turn on at a specific time in the morning and to turn off at night. When it does come on in the morning it goes straight to the highest setting to filter the air which has been in the room all night. Also, when someone walks into the room, or if you spray perfume and enter etc, the machine detects it and turns on high to filter this out. It’s actually brilliant!
If you’re thinking of getting a purifier, I would definitely recommend this one. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t get this sooner, and I have recommended all my family and friends to buy this too.
good but absolutely lie about filter life its max 4 month carbon one and 7 month hepa filter yearly cost of maintain its around 200 and its very hard to get original hepa which for about 4 month on philps website out of stock and you end up with replacement that even short life of filter

Great air purifier for my bedroom!
The best, most easy to use air purifier I have owned. I have had several in my home over the years of different brands. This machine is top notch and you can actually tell the difference when you walk into the room how clean the air is. I really like the app and alerts. I can control it from anywhere in the house. I like this machine and breathe easier because of it. It’s quiet mode and dim light setting is nice for nighttime.
Great purifier, terrible app
This air purifier does an excellent job improving air quality. I agree with other reviewers that the smart phone control app is terrible. Fortunately it’s not required and I use the device without the app even installed on my phone.
This Miracle Machine - For Pet Allergies
I found out I’m allergic to our dog, for months I’ve been coughing and having cold-like symptoms. Then I found out I developed a dog allergy ): I got the medium size machine out of desperation. It is really expensive (cuz you’d need to replace 2 filters in approx 6 months) but I thought if it would help my long suffering it’ll be worth it. Initially didn’t think much of it but after using it for a couple of day in our living room (and move it to our bedroom at night) I had less coughing, itchy eyes and runny nose. I thought maybe I was beginning to be immune to our cockapoo’s dander. So after 2-3 days we left the unit in the bedroom. But then during the day working from the living room my allergies started again. I didn’t think the air purifier was that effective until my allergies came back again! It really works! The app is great at detecting the level of air pollution! And u can use the app as a remote. The only thing is that it somehow detects my air humidifier as high levels of allergen! So it’s a bit of a bummer I can’t have both on at the same time ): but so far so good. Had it for about a week and I’ve started having less allergies. Plus the sleep mode is so quiet that I’ve to double check that the unit is switched on! It’s that quiet! Highly recommended for those with hay fever, allergies, in highly polluted areas. An excellent addition, quickly identifies allergen levels and love that it has an app
We purchased two of these air purifiers as the descriptions indicated it can remove allegen and bacteria from the air, something really important for us due to medical requirements. The unit is quite big in size, so be mindful of this, quite hard to make it look discrete in a childs bedroom. The unit contains two filters and the set-up process only takes 15 minutes at most. One the unit is connected to wifi, and you’ve downloaded the relevent app, you are all set. The app provides remote access to the purifier, so it can be started/stopped or left on in automatic mode. The sleep mode is also super quiet. It’s incredible to see it operate, especially when it detects poor air quality without ones awareness by kickstarting the fans. The only drawback, I am unable to mute the unit, and this can be annoying if you have a child that is a super light sleeper, the chime noise has on many occasion woken her up. So far, so good.
Excellent product but expensive
I have been using this unit for a week every day and am very satisfied with it.
I took the decision to buy an air purifier unit, because I am obviously spending a lot of time inside, working and socially distancing in general. I am therefore opening my windows as soon as the weather is permitting, but to the disadvantage of letting pollen enter the flat. I am allergic and subject to hay fever: itchy eyes, itchy throat and nose, sometimes light asthma… and so far so good!
This unit has 3 modes: general which is running normally, allergen mode which is very sensible to change of air quality and will clean the air up to the best standards, and virus and bacteria mode cleaning the air as fast as possible to reach the best standard. The sleep mode is great: it makes an almost unnoticeable noise, no lights and a slightly cool breeze of fresh clean air for the night.
You can command the unit with Alexa, Siri, change the ventilator speed, program the timer, change mode and lights and live feedback of the particle detector. As well as an estimation of time remaining until service
I bought a refurb unit, but it was shipped with new filters. The assembly is quite easy.
The only downside is that it is rather expensive.
An excellent effective air purifie
I bought this purifier after my wife ended up in hospital due to an allergen reaction. I read lots of reviews and settled on this one. It was a superb purchase. It was easy enough to set up on both my iPhone and my wife’s Samsung.
Is it effective ? Yes yes yes. If you set it on auto and let it do its thing it will suddenly up the power levels to clean the air if allergens are detected. Whilst I was trying to remove all sources of allergens in our bedroom I left this running. After I had removed the carpet it went crazy and I watched in amazement as the levels went up on the app. It did the same when I shook the curtains. It lowered the levels within an 30 minutes or less from very high levels.
It has several settings including a virus and bacteria mode.
At night when it’s on silent the lights are off and it runs on a low fan speed, it is extremely quiet and causes no disturbance for us.
I know it’s working as my wife’s breathing is so much better and even she notices how much better the air is in the room. I will be getting a couple more for other areas of the house.

Incredible piece of kit for asthmatics
I’ve had asthma since I was 16 (late 30s now). I get seasonal tight chest at night, difficulty sleeping on one side, mid-sleep wheezing.. Any sufferer knows what I am talking about.
I won’t say this machine cured my asthma but I have extremely clean lungs for the first time in decades after running this night and day in my bedroom. Absolutely love it, and it seems to knock me out cold at night due to the pure air in the room.
Runs as loud or quiet as you wish. Lots of great modes depending on what your needs are.
Makes a difference to the air I breathe
It’s a great air purifier and I breathe and sleep better since I bought it. I stopped using antihistamines. I highly recommend it. The only thing I am disappointed about is that it doesn’t eliminate smells. Or not fast enough. However, better with it than without as it truly is making the air I breathe much better.
Great Air Purifie
Love this product. I suffer with Asthma so decided to buy one for the days when I can’t open the windows. The machines shows the level of guff in the air in ppm and is easy to read. Like others I have two cats and the machine knows when they are near.

I brought this and I realised a (wow!) quality and performance information sharing is excellent!
I don’t have any allergies neither does my son.
The air level is monitored by the light (blue) good air quality.
My sleep is great, I wake up feeling refreshed, no waking up in the night and the air quality helps you feel refreshed.
I’m just trying to remove as many pollutants, I’ve changed to an organic mattress.
All of these things are helping with our environment
My home air smells fresh, no open windows!
My 3 year old son has Asthma and after 5 serious attacks in as many months i decided to purchase this along with some other smaller/ cheaper models. First and foremost, since purchasing these purifiers, my son has not once had a asthma attack, this may well be coincidence and his lungs maybe are getting stronger but i certainly can’t ignore the difference these purifiers have made.
The Philips 3000i was required in our very large lounge diner. I am astonished and a little embarrassed at how much dust is trapped in the pre-filter (note this will need vacuuming at regular monthly intervals to remove blockages and build up of dust). I have still not been required to replace the main HEPA and Charcoal filter which is monitored by the unit. By downloading the App you can adjust settings, review historic air condition and monitor filter life. An expensive but incredibly efficient worthwhile machine. Really like the child lock to prevent kids adjusting the settings.

Some users have said the app was difficult. I think it’s been improved as I didn’t have any issues with the app. The product itself is great. In general mode it is very quiet. I have very bad lungs and I have noticed a huge difference at night. I don’t wake up coughing if I have the filter on. It can be turned on remotely which I like as I do this on the way home but you seem to need to be connected to the internet over wi-fi. 4g doesn’t let you access the device remotely. Make sure you remove all packaging from the filters before turning it on. This means opening the device (see instructions) and removing plastic packaging. Very happy with this purchase though

Quick to setup
Very simple machine to operate as it will automatically adjust fan speed based on air quality. The sound is generally low and you shouldn’t have an issue sleeping with it on, regardless of using sleep-mode. The air quality in my home has definitely improved
4/5 as unfortunately the mobile app is repetitively crashing upon launch (iOS 13) and only works if you launch it 2-3 times. That said you don’t need to use the app, and I find its only value is looking at the historical air quality chart for your home.
Pretty good.
Just the right size for a bedroom. On the lowest setting it’s about as loud as a hard drive, on night mode it’s silent. The air quality sensor is very quick to pick up on issues. Changing the bed for example, within a few seconds it’s had registered the air change and ramped up its speed. Night mode senses darkness near instantly and the same when the light is back. The only let down is Alexa, it’s useless, Alexa doesn’t understand instructions to just says she’s turned it on, or gives you a list of options, but then doesn’t understand. Siri on the other hand works faultlessly.
The price was a bit steep, but not as bad as the full asking price, but I suppose you get what you pay for. I previously had a Levoit purifier but although it worked to a degree, it didn’t pull particles in as such, if they happened to be passing by it would grab them. The Philips on turbo actually causes an airflow around the room, so a quick feather duster and a quick blast of an air can/keyboard duster and that kicks the dust into the air and the purifier pulls it in.
Update. After 48hrs the app no longer connects. Unplug the unit and plug it in again and it’ll reset the connection instantly.
You need a fresh air system rather than a purifie
I bought this to battle with hey fever which was particularly strong this year.
The purifier definitely works, you can feel the air becomes much fresher and easier to breath. It also filters a lot other particles and dusts in the air, the room becomes cleaner than before.
My symptom did improve but not that much. I feel completely normal when I stay in an air conditioned office which has fresh air system, but with the purifier, it only improves a little. I find taking pills are much more effective and cheaper.
I’d keep using this as it does work to clean the air.
Just a tip, I recently got rid of the down duvet and pillow and this helped a lot with my allergy.
I’ve read complains on how noisy this air purifier is, but having grown up with a Honeywell high capacity air purifier, this one is really quiet in comparison. Noise is something that is relative and I just don’t trust a quiet air purifier. This is brilliant as it has a sensor which can auto adjust itself. I am allergic to dust so this really helped me when I moved to a new apartment just by the road which has a lot more dust than my previous place. Highly recommended

They are good devices - but so expensive
We bought these after buying some cats and working out that some of the family members are allergic.
I’m not, but I have noticed a difference in air quality since we purchased the deceive which I was surprised about.
It’s not completely silent at night but very quiet.
The only really problem with the device is just how expensive it is versus other devices on the market but this is probably one of those cases where you get what you pay for.
Call it placebo effect, but since we’ve installed this in our small flat, everyone felt the difference especially in sleep quality.
Waking up in the morning without headache and sneezing is definitely worth the price paid.
We also cleaned and dusted up the entire flat for a week to make sure all deposited dust and dirt was removed. This will help for the future and the air purifier to kill dust mites and bacteria in the air.

If you are an allergy sufferer or just want to breath the cleanest air possible then this is a great buy, the sensing technology is not available on other lessor brands works just like professional equipment, I bought mine to filter out smoke that comes in from next door, and it filters out all the smoke and smells, I wouldn’t be without it, I bought 3 more Philips purifiers on the back of this one!
Keeps dust at bay
My wife is asthmatic and we have two spaniels that sleep usually on our landing but have been known to curl up at the bottom of our bed when the house is cold . Vacuuming removes most of their hair but our house did get quite dusty . We have been using this machine for a few weeks and we haven’t had to dust the bedroom during this period plus my wife hasn’t sneezed during this time . We have never slept in a quiet room as we used a fan so I couldn’t say whether it is noisy but this machine has a variable coloured light on the front that changes as the fan is working harder . The dogs find that unsettling .
The filters are very easy to clean and there is an automatic reminder light that informs you when the filter needs cleaning .

A great product. I’ve had a Vax air purifier which cost in the region if 200. This is far superior.
Great filtering, super quiet (unless you set it high or have an air issue that needs sorting), great app (it lets you monitor over time, control the settings and monitor your local area and world wide).
It has a particle mode and a bacteria virus model on top of the general auto model.
The filter is constantly counting down when in use and one of them you can clean by water and vacuum cleaner. The main filters are pay per use and I haven’t got to that yet.
Just need it to last a few years now (my Vax died just outside the warranty and Vax were not interested in fixing it – use a local electrician!!! No and goodbye Vax).
Responds very quickly to pollutants. Very quiet in normal conditions and easy to lift and carry.
I’ve had this device for 8 months now and I’m very pleased with it. I haven’t used the wifi function, so can’t comment on how easy it is to pair with a smartphone. It seems to detect pollution very quickly and (I assume) remove it. I have it in a hallway close to my kitchen and if I start frying something using oil the sensor ramps up to red immediately and the fan becomes quite noisy. However in normal mode it’s virtually silent. I have had it running next to my open bedroom door after doing some painting inside and have been able to sleep very easily with the door open without hearing the fan. I’ve recently cleaned the washable pre-filter using a soft brush to remove fluff and dust and then washing in cold water. It was easy to remove and replace. It doesn’t have wheels, but has a built in handle at the back which makes it easy to lift and carry, as it’s fairly light. I put it up on a kitchen unit to make it easier to remove and replace the filter withot bending down.
Never knew air purifier was a necessity for us. We live on the ground floor and can’t keep windows open all the time. This air purifier has turned out to be a blessing as my child gets stuffy nose quite often due to dust allergy. It was effective from the first night and he has sound sleep. One can feel the before and after difference in the air quality and I wish I had got this before.
Like other reviewers I would say the ap is beyond crap, keeps disconnecting, although it us quite useful when connected as it gives you the ease to control it remotely. It doesn’t bother me much though as the control panel at its top has all the functions. They must lower the price though!
Top tip for winter season is to use it a bit away from your bed to avoid cold air, but it is essential as it captures mould spores as well (Use allergen or bacteria and virus mode) – It is not a bacteria or virus eliminator but rather captures its particles and reduces its effect in air.
Highly recommend it for people who need fresher air especially in the winter season when its too cold to open a window!

Has helped my asthma
I bought this for my asthma and it does seem to have really helped. It’s quite large and obtrusive in the bedroom but not too heavy to lift. I haven’t tried the sleep mode yet but have tried the allergen mode and the bacteria and virus mode and I didn’t get the cold that my husband had so that’s a thumbs up.
It does exatly what it says here.
Did it pull, how much dust? In the small bed-sit apartment flat I need to clean out the filters every week. The computer is not now full of dust in the cooling ducts. My computers are running cooler. I recommend this device
Additional benefit six months later. What happened to my asthma? What asthma? The allergens are filtered out. Not a cure, but certainly a benefit.
I’m writing about this product because I genuinely feel this is a game changer. I suffer from allergies such as hay fever and also dust. My body thinks dust is pollen and they are the same thing when I don’t have hay fever I have hot air heating that can initially blow out dust and make it circulate around my home, and my house is pretty dust free as I’m clean freak.
This product does what it says on the tin. It’s not cheap to buy and the filters are a little pricy but I don’t get streaming eyes sore throats anymore.
I do have a career as Cabin crew. When my hay-fever is at its worst all I want is to be in an air condoned room or on a plane at 40’000 ft away from the pollen.
I have a two bedroom house on two floors I have one in my hallway upstairs and one in my living room. Within 30 mins I notice a huge difference.
You need to think about how big your property is to get the best benefits.
You need to think about the size of your property and is it on one floor or two. If on two levels I’d buy two of these air purifiers.
I pop it on for maybe 2 hours a day max.
It has the energy efficiency sticker on it so I believe it should not cost the earth to run.
Ergonomically it’s fairly attractive and looks good in a modern home it’s not small be aware, but that’s good as the bigger the machine I think it’s far more affective.
Like I mentioned earlier I travel the world it connects to your Wi-Fi so you can control on your smart phone even graphs so you can monitor the air quality . When the air quality goes down it sends me a text message when it’s off anywhere around the world so just like a hive central heating unit you can just switch it on remotely.
The fab thing is when I land back in the Uk I can turn it on remotely from my phone and 30 mins later when I’m home the air is clean and I’m not sneezing. In fact it’s so affective the first week you may still sneeze as your body adjusts to clean air.
It took a couple of attempts to set up Wi-Fi you hover the Bony part of your thumb and finger on it very gently and it will all work I was a bit forceful you just rest your finger and thumb on it no need to press down hard.
This product has changed my quality of life hugely if life is miserable with hay fever this really will make a huge difference. The senses on the device will on accessions decide the best way to clean the air in your room it changes colour as it sets the alternate clean / climate environment mode, buy it it will change your life. I’m off nasal sprays, antihistamines now.

My body thinks dust is pollen and they are the same thing when I don’t have hay fever I have hot air heating that can initially blow out dust and make it circulate around my home, and my house is pretty dust free as I’m clean freak.
This product does what it says on the tin. It’s not cheap to buy and the filters are a little pricy but I don’t get streaming eyes sore throats anymore.
I do have a career as Cabin crew. When my hay-fever is at its worst all I want is to be in an air condoned room or on a plane at 40’000 ft away from the pollen.
I have a two bedroom house on two floors I have one in my hallway upstairs and one in my living room. Within 30 mins I notice a huge difference.
You need to think about how big your property is to get the best benefits.
You need to think about the size of your property and is it on one floor or two. If on two levels I’d buy two of these air purifiers.
I pop it on for maybe 2 hours a day max.
It has the energy efficiency sticker on it so I believe it should not cost the earth to run.
Ergonomically it’s fairly attractive and looks good in a modern home it’s not small be aware, but that’s good as the bigger the machine I think it’s far more affective.
Like I mentioned earlier I travel the world it connects to your Wi-Fi so you can control on your smart phone even graphs so you can monitor the air quality . When the air quality goes down it sends me a text message when it’s off anywhere around the world so just like a hive central heating unit you can just switch it on remotely.
The fab thing is when I land back in the Uk I can turn it on remotely from my phone and 30 mins later when I’m home the air is clean and I’m not sneezing. In fact it’s so affective the first week you may still sneeze as your body adjusts to clean air.
It took a couple of attempts to set up Wi-Fi you hover the Bony part of your thumb and finger on it very gently and it will all work I was a bit forceful you just rest your finger and thumb on it no need to press down hard.
This product has changed my quality of life hugely if life is miserable with hay fever this really will make a huge difference. The senses on the device will on accessions decide the best way to clean the air in your room it changes colour as it sets the alternate clean / climate environment mode, buy it it will change your life. I’m off nasal sprays, antihistamines now.

Has Helped My Son's Sleeping Patte
We have a two year old who’s allergic to dust. Buying this and situating it in his room has made a real difference to his quality of sleep and, consequently, our quality of life! It’s very quiet unless it has to max out to combat something in the air, but that never happens for longer than a couple of minutes.
It is very big, but it’s also very stylish, and doesn’t look out of place in a living room or bedroom. It’s definitely expensive but, I think, it’s worth the money.
One last point. Several users have complained about their difficulty in connecting to the app. I found it very straigh forward and have had no issues with it whatsoever. The device itself also has a touch pad on the top and is incredibly intuitive to use.
Virtually silent air purifie
Good value air purifier (bought on prime day). I live in central London, and was expecting the air quality to be a lot worse than the machine tells me it is most of the time! The room smells different when I have it on, and the sleep mode is absolutely silent.

As soon as I switched it on I could feel a HUGE difference in the air quality – the air felt ‘clean’ and fresh like I was at the seaside.
The auto sensors are great constantly modifying the fan to deal with impurities.

Air quality acheived
Bought this because live near busy road and wanted peace of mind on air quality. It gives a reading of air quality in the home. Surprising when using deodorant spray how much air quality deteriorates. Pleased with purchase, ultra quiet on night mode and gives me peace of mind. A little expensive but does what it says on the tin.
I’ve had two different design vax purifiers break down on me now within a short period of time. So I was looking for something of a different brand. This Philips machine came very high up on the Which? magazine app as one of their best buys. I set it up in minutes. The only thing that wasn’t smooth was WiFi linking, which I had to run twice to connect. It helps if you can turn off your 5ghz WiFi network as this connects to the 2.4ghz one. If you don’t have separate WiFi names for each WiFi band then you may run into setup problems (or just have to keep trying until you hit pot luck like I did!).
I run the machine in auto mode. Machine is quiet on the low setting (blue light). So quiet that I don’t think I’d ever need the extra quiet nighttime mode even if it was in the bedroom. The next speed up (blue/pink light ) is still quiet. The next speed up gives you a purple light and you can hear the fan running faster in a medium size room. It still didn’t distract me from hearing the tv, but it was noticeable. The max setting (red) it seems to go to when someone is mid-cigarette and stays like that for 20-30 secs! It’s a noticeable whoosh sound but I’ve found it to be much much quieter than even the medium fan speed on either of my vax machines. So the machine doesn’t bother me at all and doesn’t require me to alter the tv volume whichever speed it’s on.
I’m impressed at how sensitive the sensors are and how quick it responds to smoking, dust being kicked up cleaning or smells coming in from the kitchen.
I changed the display from allergy mode to pollution mode which gives you a better number range (allergies 1-10 and pollutants 1-500) and I run the sensor in allergy mode.
The allergy mode basically makes the machine respond more intensely to allergy’s and it may ramp up the speed faster than on normal mode upon detecting them.
The virus and bacteria mode make the machine run at a slightly higher speed even when air figures are good, when the machine is idling. The idea of this is to increase air flow in the room to reduce germs.
General mode makes the machine run at normal speed and the sensor for allergy’s is turned down and responds at the same level as it does for pollutants and dust. It doesn’t let the machine use the turbo mode and will max out on speed 4 of 5.
The filters are expensive. First filter is washable and shouldn’t need replacing (unless you break it!) with reminder every 350 hours. Carbon filter set at 2400 hours (replacement cost around 40) and hepa filter at 4800 hours (replacement cost around 50). Remaining time is shown in the app.
App controls all modes of the machine from anywhere and is generally very good.
Installation:
Although a fair size, the unit is light and easy to lift out of the box. Setup is simple – remove the tape holding panels in place for transport, remove front panel, take out filters and remove plastic wrapping, put filters back, put panel back on. Then just plug it in where you want it (cable is about a metre, so you need space near a socket, or an extension cable.
There is no remote control, but you can install an app (iOS or Android) which you can link to the unit via wifi. This means you can monitor the readings on the unit and conduct basic controls from across the room or elsewhere in the house. I had not problems pairing the device with the app, but it takes a little while so be patient!
Use:
After you turn on the unit, it measures air quality and gives a digital readout (from 1 to 12, 12 being worst). As it works, this number will fall. There is also a softly glowing circle on the front, which is colour-coded: red for very poor and gradually more blue for better. You can change the brightness of this (for night use) or even turn off altogether.
You can set a timer in units of 1 hour, up to 12, if you want the unit to work just for a certain time then switch off.
By default, the unit is in ‘auto’ mode, where it changes fan speed as required.
In Auto, you can choose between ‘General’, ‘Allergen’ or ‘Bacteria & Virus’. Allergen makes the unit more sensitive to small changes, and Bacteria&Virus boosts the fan speed for faster removal.
You can also take control and manually set fan speed if you want, or press the Turbo button for a boost of fan speed.
There is an excellent ‘sleep mode’ which is super-quiet and turns off all lights.
Maintenance:
The manual recommends that you clean the sensor every 2 months, by simply wiping with a damp cloth
There is a ‘pre filter’ which is a mesh covering the main filters. When this needs cleaning, the unit will display a code, and you just unclip it, rinse under running water, dry and reattach.
Finally, there are two main filters which cannot be cleaned, but must be replaced when clogged. Again, the unit displays a code when one or both need replacement. You should factor this cost into your decision to buy. Which magazine reckons you should assume replacement 6-monthly, for a unit in regular use.
Effectiveness:
I have this unit in my bedroom and, anecdotally, my wife and I have noticed a marked reduction in how much we are sneezing in bed (from dust/pollen?). However, this is very subjective.
Which magazine testing showed that the unit removed 88% of particles (compared to some that took out only 40%) and rated it a Best Buy. That’s as good a technical test as you will get.
Overall:
I would never have said I NEEDED an air purifier, but having tried this, I can really see the benefit. This unit is good looking, easy to move, easy to install and works really well. It has all the functions you could want to customise it to your needs. If you are in the market for an air purifier, this has to be high on your list.

Bought this one on prime day with huge discount and i’m very happy with this purchase. I’ve read a lot about Philips air purifier and i always wanted to buy one but never could find a discounted price, thanks for Prime Day finally did it.
Well, you can’t go wrong with this purifier. It comes with 1 pre-filter, activated carbon filter and HEPA filter and what impressed me that its activated carbon filter it comes with real pieces of carbon not just powdered filter like other brands does.
The mobile app is very handy, you can control it essily from the app and what impressed me is that you can see the air quality in the app and also it monitors the quality and saves the data. Also, you can see the air quality from outside in the area you live, apparently this mobile app is connected to some air quality data service.
Overall i’m very happy with purchase, do like it, looks very stylish, it is pricey but worth the money. You really feel the difference.

What I can say 😉 it works very well. Philips Air Purifier Series 3000i is Mega. It will connect to your wi-fi so you can manage it with and app. Please see attached video of the purifier and photos from the app. Easy to use, silent, great design, very quiet. I had my wet dog coming back home and this machine has detected all the smells straight away. It is quite large but I guess that is inevitable to have decent filter areas to last a long time. Readings were surprisingly high initially for PM2.5 but came down pleasingly quickly. In night mode it is quiet. It is a pity it does not have a proper timer built in but with a separate timer it comes back on each evening in night mode, so I rarely touch it. As an asthmatic, I feel it has really helped my breathing overnight.
This air purifier works and has extra functions
I’ve had this air purifier for 2 months, just in time for the allergy season which my family suffer from. I was expecting good results from a company like Philips, and it’s exceeded these expectations. Very easy to use, adding it onto my Wifi took a little longer to setup but once setup, you can now control the device with an app and Alexa.
Performance is fantastic, the sensor activated the fan speed of it detects bad air quality and the bedroom feels a lot fresher at night time and helping to keep hay fever to minimum.
Highly recommend this product – we’ve been using it every night and would go without it.

It did something we didn’t expect!
We have been constantly sneezing, running eyes and generally uncomfortable. So we decided to buy an air “cleaner”. When turned on it responded by going flat out, quite intrusive, but in a short time it settled into a rhythm and only launched it max mode in response to our dog shaking himself nearby.
It’s hard to quantify the exact effect it has, it’s certainly removed the pollen and dust (a black glass table doesn’t get dusty so quickly) the astounding thing is the rapid removal of cooking odours, it cleared a fried fish smell, cooked on the hob, in about 10 minutes something that can take literally days to go away.
If you suffer from cooking smells, a damp dog I recommend this appliance
A major aid for hay feve
I have suffered for years with hay fever and my wife has now started to suffer as swell.
At the height of the grass pollen season we were trapped in the house but even there we still suffered. We decided to give this filter a go. We are so pleased we did. This creates a refuge in the house. We are able to go out in the garden or for walks where we live in the country and as we start to suffer are able to return to the house and pollen free environment.
We were so pleased with this we bought another one which we keep in the bedroom.
We only use this during the pollen season so have not had to replace filters yet.

I suffer from terrible allergies. I live in an old house, near a large city and have both cats and dogs. Despite my best effort dust is like a visible haze in the house.
The Philips air purifier has made an immediate impact.within the first day all dust was removed from the house and it went from a screaming red colour to a satisfied blue as I moved it from room to room. It is large but light so this is an easy option. It is also surprisingly quiet , especially on sleep mode which is now set it on overnight.
This has made such a big difference to my allergies that within a week of buying it I have bought a second and now have one upstairs and one Down.
Now the bad. Setting up the WiFi is painful if you try the automatic setup – manual is much easier. The apps is not fit for purpose and you have a tiny chance of the device being online when you use the app.
If remote control is important to you then don’t buy this. If air quality is you thing then I personally rate it.

It automatically ramps up the filtration level when the sensor detects pollutants and you can select for a general level or enhanced micro filtration for allergens and even germs. Not at all noisy at four or below but it picks up for short periods and may become audible. There’s a setting for night time which keeps the light off and levels down. I’m very pleased with this purifier and though it’s not cheap, I’m considering another for the kitchen.

Makes a big difference in my moldy, dusty rental house. I have really bad allergies, and this has made a huge difference in my bedroom. It’s quiet. I wish it had a fully dark mode, though. Even in the ‘dark’ mode, it still emits a blue light.
Excellent but expensive
This air purifier is not cheap. However it is really excellent. Even used without the app, when you plug it in it starts automatically and gives you info right away on the device itself on how many impurities are in your air. There’s a number from 1 to 12, and the glow on the front changes colour depending on how bad it is. The purifier calibrates itself automatically, running faster until it clears the air, and then slowing down to maintain. It is quiet when running, and can be set to an even quieter night mode.
I had no trouble setting the app up, and connecting it with the purifier. However the app doesn’t give you a lot more functionality- for instance you can’t operate the air purifier to turn on remotely. However it keeps track of any spikes in pollutants, and tells you when you need to clean or replace your filters. Speaking of filters, there are additional costs in that you have to replace these regularly, so keep this in mind when considering whether to pay for this item.

Firstly, before giving feedback on the product, I would say to anyone considering an air purifier that it is worth it. I used purifiers for a while now, but this is the first one I have used with an air quality sensor. The air quality in my house without this on is 5x worse than outside! The amount of pm2.5 that is in the air indoors is crazy…
It is very easy to unbox and put together this purifier. The filters inside the machine come packaged in sealed plastic, so must be removed before turning on – this is as simple as sliding off the front cover of the machine and the filters are there. Nothing fiddly.
The machine plugs in and starts up straight away. No setup required to get it to function without WiFi. All good so far (save for Amazon delivery not knocking on my door, but leaving this on the street in the product box for everyone to see an expensive item to steal).
There is a mild smell to start with, but nothing offensive or long lasting. The carbon filter does quite a good job of eliminating smells, especially oil from cooking.
Regarding the fan speeds, there are 5 options. Silent is what I use at night in the bedroom, which cannot be heard. Of course, the effectiveness of the machine is not great when the fan is spinning so slowly, but it is better than not being on at all. The regular speeds are 1/2/3, which seem to be very similar. Turbo mode is a huge jump and sounds like a hairdryer. The machine is very effective at removing the pollutants in Turbo mode, as can be seen on the real-time air quality feedback.
It would be great to see some speeds inbetween 3 and Turbo, similar to the Dyson pure with 10 speed settings. Since the machine does not oscillate, a strong airflow is required to circulate the air – 3 does not do this well enough and Turbo is too noisy. When switching to Turbo mode, you can see that the air is circulated better, and dirty air drawn in, as the air quality rating shows an increase in pollutants immediately after the speed-up.
It would also be nice to set some direction to the clean air outlet. The air inlets are long, thin and on either side, so I expect do a good job of drawing in air from various directions. The air outlet however is on the rear and points upwards. It would be nice to angle this, as I have the unit in the corner of the partly obstructed by another piece of furniture.
The thing that really bugs me for a high price air purifier is the App. I have heard similar issue for the Dyson App too, so would not necessarily make a decision on this point, it is just disappointing as the WiFi control is one of the features you are paying a lot for. The App design is quite clear, with easy to read layout. Connecting the unit to the App is a nightmare. I work in technology, and have everything in my house as a “smart” device. This is the most un-user friendly setup I have experienced personally and professionally. It took me almost an hour just to get it connected.
You have to set your WiFi so that there is a separate 2.4GHz channel – by default my BT router has a 2.4GHz and 5GHz dynamic connection to allow for devices to connect to either, but because my phone connects to 5GHz channel, I had to change from dynamic to separate channels, which required learning how to change router setup. When changing to a distinct dual channel router setup, a lot of devices got kicked off the network and needed to be provided with a new password and reconnected.
During the connection process, the App “guides” you on what to do. However, some steps just don’t work first time and need to be tried multiple times. This is even more frustrating since the App doesn’t give progress status, so you just sit whilst the App says “please wait” and hope that it works. Sometimes, after a few minutes, it says “connection failed” and provides only one option labelled “connect manually”. Pressing “connect manually” does nothing but take you back to start the exact same process again.
After finally getting connected to WiFi network, the App can be used to control the fan speed settings, set an auto mode, adjust the brightness of the lights on the unit, and turn on/off the unit. This works okay if your phone/tablet is connected to the same WiFi network as the device. If you are using the App over mobile network, I would say it works probably 10% of the time. The majority of the time it says the device is not connected. Some of the time it says the device is connected, but any change to settings doesn’t seem to actually apply to your device – the app just freezes. I sent the log files and contacted the support team, whose only suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall the app (note I had only just installed it as I was setting it up).
The App is supposed to also record and display hourly data for the air quality reading of your device. This seems to work okay on my Android device, but in iOS devices it just doesn’t load in the App. Only the spinning “loading” icon.
Comparing the performance of purification against other purifiers, this is significantly better. I have compared to both the Bionaire and Levoit units I have, and measured the results using the air quality sensor. I ran the Philips unit for 2 hours in a 20 square metre room – the pm2.5 rating reduced to 1 particle per cubic metre. Comparing against the Bionaire and Levoit purifiers, even when left running ALL DAY LONG, they produced a reading of no lower than 15 particles per cubic metre.
This effectiveness is what redeems the Philips unit for me – the App and WiFi connection may be difficult and unreliable, but the purification power is immense.
The other thing that let me down with the Philips unit was that the Philips website explicitly said you could set a SCHEDULE using the App. You cannot set a schedule, you can only in fact set a timer. So you cannot say turn on at 6am and turn off at 9am. You can only turn it on manually and set a timer for 3 hours. The only thing that redeems this for me is the fact that the device turns on when the socket is turned on – I have this connected to a WiFi plug, which is on a timer. When the WiFi plug turns on, the purifier turns on with the same settings as when last turned off.

I bought a second one of these in Prime Day sale and I must say the issues with the setup and app have been ironed out. Leaving my original review unchanged as I cannot tell whether the setup is working better because I already have one device setup on the app.

A few more things to add that I have noticed after living with the units for a couple of years now. Everything is still going strong, no rattles, no shakes, no squeaks. I have just added an AC0820 unit to my home office space, and I must say that whilst it doesn’t have as many features as these bigger 2000 series units, it seems just as good quality and is so quiet!
One thing I noticed when reading reviews of AC0820 before purchasing, is that some people are complaining it is made of plastic. I have actually found the total plastic build of all the units to be a big benefit in keeping them clean. I have a very muddy dog (the kind of one you see in the videos online where they look like a swamp monster climbing out of a mudpit) and he brushes past, or shakes next to, these units on a daily basis. The plastic build means that a little wipe down with some kitchen or bathroom cleaner returns them to looking like new. I imagine the same thing would apply to children who like to express themselves with paint and crayons.
I have had to replace the main filter once since buying the units. This is despite two people who work from home and a dog making dust to be sucked up 24.7. Yes, the replacement filters are expensive, but when I had a brand new one next to the one that reached the end of its life, it was like night and day. So I am confident that the particles are getting sucked up and staying trapped.
Firstly, before giving feedback on the product, I would say to anyone considering an air purifier that it is worth it. I used purifiers for a while now, but this is the first one I have used with an air quality sensor. The air quality in my house without this on is 5x worse than outside! The amount of pm2.5 that is in the air indoors is crazy…
It is very easy to unbox and put together this purifier. The filters inside the machine come packaged in sealed plastic, so must be removed before turning on – this is as simple as sliding off the front cover of the machine and the filters are there. Nothing fiddly.
The machine plugs in and starts up straight away. No setup required to get it to function without WiFi. All good so far (save for Amazon delivery not knocking on my door, but leaving this on the street in the product box for everyone to see an expensive item to steal).
There is a mild smell to start with, but nothing offensive or long lasting. The carbon filter does quite a good job of eliminating smells, especially oil from cooking.
Regarding the fan speeds, there are 5 options. Silent is what I use at night in the bedroom, which cannot be heard. Of course, the effectiveness of the machine is not great when the fan is spinning so slowly, but it is better than not being on at all. The regular speeds are 1/2/3, which seem to be very similar. Turbo mode is a huge jump and sounds like a hairdryer. The machine is very effective at removing the pollutants in Turbo mode, as can be seen on the real-time air quality feedback.
It would be great to see some speeds inbetween 3 and Turbo, similar to the Dyson pure with 10 speed settings. Since the machine does not oscillate, a strong airflow is required to circulate the air – 3 does not do this well enough and Turbo is too noisy. When switching to Turbo mode, you can see that the air is circulated better, and dirty air drawn in, as the air quality rating shows an increase in pollutants immediately after the speed-up.
It would also be nice to set some direction to the clean air outlet. The air inlets are long, thin and on either side, so I expect do a good job of drawing in air from various directions. The air outlet however is on the rear and points upwards. It would be nice to angle this, as I have the unit in the corner of the partly obstructed by another piece of furniture.
The thing that really bugs me for a high price air purifier is the App. I have heard similar issue for the Dyson App too, so would not necessarily make a decision on this point, it is just disappointing as the WiFi control is one of the features you are paying a lot for. The App design is quite clear, with easy to read layout. Connecting the unit to the App is a nightmare. I work in technology, and have everything in my house as a “smart” device. This is the most un-user friendly setup I have experienced personally and professionally. It took me almost an hour just to get it connected.
You have to set your WiFi so that there is a separate 2.4GHz channel – by default my BT router has a 2.4GHz and 5GHz dynamic connection to allow for devices to connect to either, but because my phone connects to 5GHz channel, I had to change from dynamic to separate channels, which required learning how to change router setup. When changing to a distinct dual channel router setup, a lot of devices got kicked off the network and needed to be provided with a new password and reconnected.
During the connection process, the App “guides” you on what to do. However, some steps just don’t work first time and need to be tried multiple times. This is even more frustrating since the App doesn’t give progress status, so you just sit whilst the App says “please wait” and hope that it works. Sometimes, after a few minutes, it says “connection failed” and provides only one option labelled “connect manually”. Pressing “connect manually” does nothing but take you back to start the exact same process again.
After finally getting connected to WiFi network, the App can be used to control the fan speed settings, set an auto mode, adjust the brightness of the lights on the unit, and turn on/off the unit. This works okay if your phone/tablet is connected to the same WiFi network as the device. If you are using the App over mobile network, I would say it works probably 10% of the time. The majority of the time it says the device is not connected. Some of the time it says the device is connected, but any change to settings doesn’t seem to actually apply to your device – the app just freezes. I sent the log files and contacted the support team, whose only suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall the app (note I had only just installed it as I was setting it up).
The App is supposed to also record and display hourly data for the air quality reading of your device. This seems to work okay on my Android device, but in iOS devices it just doesn’t load in the App. Only the spinning “loading” icon.
Comparing the performance of purification against other purifiers, this is significantly better. I have compared to both the Bionaire and Levoit units I have, and measured the results using the air quality sensor. I ran the Philips unit for 2 hours in a 20 square metre room – the pm2.5 rating reduced to 1 particle per cubic metre. Comparing against the Bionaire and Levoit purifiers, even when left running ALL DAY LONG, they produced a reading of no lower than 15 particles per cubic metre.
This effectiveness is what redeems the Philips unit for me – the App and WiFi connection may be difficult and unreliable, but the purification power is immense.
The other thing that let me down with the Philips unit was that the Philips website explicitly said you could set a SCHEDULE using the App. You cannot set a schedule, you can only in fact set a timer. So you cannot say turn on at 6am and turn off at 9am. You can only turn it on manually and set a timer for 3 hours. The only thing that redeems this for me is the fact that the device turns on when the socket is turned on – I have this connected to a WiFi plug, which is on a timer. When the WiFi plug turns on, the purifier turns on with the same settings as when last turned off.

This is my second one as a replacement of dyson air purifier. The reason why I like it much more than dyson is two reasons:
1. The sleep mode much quite than dyson! No any disturb of your sleeping
2. This one is 2 in 1 purifier and humidifier. When you have heyfever and your nose and mouth both feel dry. So now with this I no longer need a sole humidifier. Save lot space!
Excellent item, worth buying
I have never owned one of these which, in hindsight, perhaps I should, as I suffer with asthma that is affected with the change in weather.
I have waited a few months to write the review to give it plenty of time to do its job and for me to make a choice on it.
It’s a fantastic piece of equipment and it really did help. In my bedroom I found I woke up hardly at all in the night, feeling tight-chested. The room did feel less heavy to sleep in.
We also have a cat and I have no worries with letting him sleep in the bed now as it has really helped a lot.
It has a few different settings which is handy and it isn’t noisy on night mode which makes it easy enough to ignore and sleep, It has also really helped out when my kids have had a bit of a sniffle as it helps keep the air clearer for them to breathe easy. Again I think my little girl has got my asthma so this is reassuring to have as a parent.
The only reason I have taken a star away is because it’s quite expensive and I would look at a slightly cheaper option. Although Phillips is a brilliant brand I would expect it to last many years, I would just struggle to spend this amount of money on this product as it isn’t often I have a couple hundred pounds spare for something like this.
Good quiet unit.
Expensive but good this filter will purify the air in your house. The unit it quiet and tells you when the filters need changing.
If you are an allergy sufferer then this might be for you.
Expensive but worth every penny to improve your health and house
When you take it out the box, I wont lie, its is a rather large purifier. But for everything it does and how amazing the technology it is on it, it needs to be so you quickly look past this as soon as you start seeing the results.
First thing I did when I got this, was try it out in every room to see how bad some of my rooms were. As I thought, my spare room and bathroom were rated the worst. Makes sense as my spare bedroom is used to keep a lot of stuff in and more for storage than an actual spare bedroom and in the bathroom I have mold above the window due to bad ventilation.
I tend to use on the allergy setting which helpfully has a picture of a flower and a dog on it. From what I have read up on this, it uses a unique detection within which manages to react to allergens and filter them out quickly. When I used the purifier in the spare room the air quality registered as a 7 and in the bathroom a 5. It didn’t take long at all for the air purifier to get the quality back down. Everywhere else surprisingly was between 1-3.
The other mode I have used which is really good is the virus mode. I was not well with a bad bug and cold not too long ago and had this setting on over the allergen one to try to remove anything virusy from the air each time. I pretty much never left my bed with the bug and when I had the cold I did the same and I had the purifier on a good part of the day and the difference in the air could be felt. You just know when you are not well that because you are stuck in the one room and that its all just horrible and you don’t want to spread it. The purifier was just amazing and I was back to my old self in no time.
It also has to be said, touch wood, that I haven’t had a cold again or ill since I have had the purifier.
I also want to mention that my partner has asthma and I also have a cat so its been really good keeping the air pure and clean for him as sometimes bad air quality can trigger his asthma.
I really love this product so much as I love the sense of satisfaction that you can actually see in front of you because of the visual air quality score on the screen. Not to mention the night mode especially right now with the high pollen count for hayfever which can keep continually doing the job of filtering the air while you sleep and keeping it quiet at the same time.
There have been a few times after spraying a perfume or cleaning etc where I use the purifier to clean the air and the reading is really high at like 10. Don’t be alarmed by the sound it makes, its loud when its that high because its doing its job and trying to filter out the impurities as fast as possible.
I could also give you all the fancy statistics and science but I actually don’t feel I need to because its that good! 🙂

My husband suffers from Hay fever and a mild allergic reaction to our lovely cat.
These symptoms seem to kick off more in the Summer time.
However, this Philips air purifier works fantastically.
It also captures 99.9% of bacteria in 1 hour so I use it also when anyone in the house has a cold or bug so that it doesn’t spread around the house.
I place it in the hall and the air even feels fresher and cleaner around it.
I love this item, as does my husband.

This could be a welcome addition to my sons bedroom.
Build quality is good. Looks good. Quiet compared to our last purifier. Easy to move around and pleasing on the eye.
Our Son is asthmatic being allergic to dust mite and pollen. When hay fever season kicks in he can generally been seen hiding in his bedroom, windows and curtains closed puffing away on his inhaler….eyes streaming, nose streaming, swelling to his eyes can actually look like he’s been physically punched. As a parent it’s heartbreaking to see and you would do anything to help.
Enter this purifier. My husband who suffers hay fever also but doesn’t have the luxury of this in our bedroom has been religiously taking tablets, inhaler and eye drops for the last few weeks, as has our son. My husband seems to have faired just as well without the air purifier.
Coming up to his GCSEs has been stressful knowing how our sons hay fever can adversely affect him. To date his hay fever hasn’t seemed to be a massive problem, this machine may have been doing it’s job quietly in the background. He seems to be much the same as previous years.
Our sons hay fever is dependent on the type of pollen his trigger is Timothy grass and I am pleased that May has passed us by without major incident, and moderate to high pollen count in relation to grass has been in force since mid May….although June and July are usually worse.
For me the jury is out short term but I will update this review after the summer has disappeared as to whether or not I feel this purifier has been a lifesaver or not.
The app which you download is user friendly. How good or how reliable it is I will confirm after longer use of the product,
There are ongoing filter costs which the app advises when you need to replace, all filters are available from Amazon. I have read, that for my comfort the purifier will cease to work if the filter/s are not replaced within a two week period after being advised to replace……this surely cannot be true! I will let you know, this might be referring to a different model I am not sure.
Speedy delivery, excellent build quality, very quiet to run and pleasing on the eye can’t possibly be a reason to recommend this to anyone but the quality of the air and lack of allergens in my sons bedroom according to the app would.
I don’t like having an app for any equipment in my home to be honest and in the last few weeks they have been receiving very bad press so be mindful of this.
There is no information either on Phillips website or anywhere about running costs in relation to this product which I find weird and unnerving. I would not purchase because of this. You buy products according to efficiency and running costs, or at least I do even our homes warrant this yet there are no clear figures out there.
The filters are priced At over thirty pounds each. The app tells you when to replace. The device/product runs and decides when the filter is spent so how long do the filters last? Well how long is a piece of string perhaps is the answer to this question. How much air is prosessed and how many allergens are detected
in the air will and how hard the purifier works will eventually decide on when your filters need changing, so the cost could vary for each and every machine depending on windows being left open, how old your house is whether you have carpets or hardwood floors, hopefully I’m not just prattling here you see where I am going with this.
To further worry me if what I have understood in relation to the filters is actually true then this machine will be useless if I don’t replace filters within two weeks of the app telling me I have to.
We have just set this to work as we wished to have it in place for the hay fever season the worst of which is yet to come.
When I spend vast amounts of money on electrical items I read reviews, I check on the manufacturers website, read trusted reviews such as Which, compare prices, running costs, replacement filters/parts costs etc. Before even spending a penny. From my research on this I would have most probably overlooked it as it’s vagueness and cost would have been off putting. The specs promise a lot but whether it actually lives up to the hype remains to be seen.
So for now I shall keep using, I will add to my final review in September/October.
It’s amazing. My sons hay fever struck full force about a week after I wrote this review. He was debilitated eyes streaming, swollen, itching, a sneezing asthmatic mess to be frank. His bedroom has become his sanctuary in there with this machine running he is himself. It gives him instant relief you wouldn’t even know he has hay fever or allergies at all….I am amazed and thankful to have been the recipient of this machine to review. I would happily give this a five star review if it wasn’t for the expense of the refills

App work just fine, no nasty fog from humidifier like dyson is making and air nice and clean on top of that. 3.5 liter tank seems to be big enough. Worth every penny.
The Philips Connected Air purifier boasts brilliant build quality and amazing plenty of features as most Philips do.
It’s sleek looking and well designed, not an eye sore either and can blend into a room nicely. The top of the unit feature a display and some controls. The touch controls aren’t always responsive and need another tap to get it to do what you want which is a shame really, at this price I’d expect fluid controls.
The unit is controlled via an app also which is another feature which I’m unsure of as it isn’t made by Philips and could be better. If your on android also the app wants to have access to some strange things like your phone book and call history which makes me a bit uneasy.
The app feedback is good enough as it can track the filter life which is useful, especially as they will need replacing at some point wether you want to or not, none of this running it a while longer as the unit locks off until you replace its filter!
Noise wise you know it’s on, especially if being run at full whack, it gets a tad loud. Night time more or silent mode is decent enough and quieter than some machines I’ve had running through the night.
The air quality has increased somewhat but I’m hoping to see a huge difference in summer as we live right next to some farm land and the pollen levels here cause havoc with hay fever sufferers.
Prices at 400 it’s expensive, it can do a good job but needs fine tuning on the app and controls, the filters are also extra costs over the life of the machine.
Quality product but uses a third party Chinese App
The Air Purifier looks like the quality build you would expect for the price. It is as sleek in the flesh as it is in the pictures. The physical setup was easy, removing plastic from the filters and inserting them back in place again. That’s where the simplicity stopped, however.
Firstly, there was locating the app that is referred to in the instruction manual. There is one by the name ‘Air Matters’ but it is by a different software company. Eventually, I figured to try it and it did turn out to be the correct app. Next, connect to wifi; again a problem. The app informed me it couldn’t connect to my wifi and I must reconfigure my wifi. It turns out that despite my router broadcasting on 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz, the app would only connect if I reconfigured my phone to pick up the 2.4GHz broadcast. Whew – no network reconfiguration necessary!
Once the app was up and running and connected to the Air Purifier I was in business. Straight away it let me know the air quality in my bedroom was poor. After about 20 minutes on a medium fan speed, it changed to good quality. It did, however, keep flicking back an forth between number 2 and number 4 on the air quality rating. The unit emits a strong colour based on the air quality reading, which is helpful so you can see at a glance what the air quality in the room is. I found the controls on the unit less intuitive than expected, and prefer to use the app to control it as the app is good and clear.
When placed in silent mode, the light turns off, so it is completely unobtrusive at nighttime. It was so silent I thought the unit had gone to sleep. I couldn’t hear a hum or whir from it at all.
One thing I did notice, when leaving it running in the bedroom for several hours with door and curtains closed (single glazing), the room felt cold when I walked in, and it had a distinctive odour to it. My nose adjusted to the smell quickly but I did wonder why fresh air smelled. It does blow out cold air so over a period of time must have an impact on room temperature.
The app is on the whole very helpful in providing details about the air quality in the room. It also provides local air quality information, which I am finding helpful. I live right next to the M4 and the air quality reported poor as a consequence; interestingly though, in the middle of the night when the motorway was quiet, the air quality score improved considerably. It also provides information about air quality in cities around the world. What is really helpful is the pollen information; it’s not just ‘pollen’, it is broken down into different pollen sources and it provides a weekly air quality forecast.
It is naughty of Phillips to not have produced their own app to control their equipment, the app is not difficult to build and the data sources are readily available on the internet. It is a shame they rely on a Chinese app to do the job for them.
On the whole, this is an excellent quality product that works well and does a good job day and night without causing any disturbances. I definitely like it. It dropped a star for the faff in the beginning of the setup with connecting to wifi and relying on a Chinese app.
We’ve been testing this for a few weeks in a household where we both suffer from pollen and dust allergies. It is difficult to say whether it is any good. Our allergies seem to have stayed on a level. However, the unit registers the surrounding air quality on a scale of 1-12 and when we’ve been changing bedclothes or lighting the fire, or vacuuming – anything that involves dust, the register zooms up to the top end. So the logic is that it must be doing something.
We haven’t used the app on it because we are not mobile phone users, and to judge from other reviews, this might not actually be a bad idea given security issues. It’s just not necessary to have the app on the go.
The unit is solid and moderately heavy – it’s easily portable from one room to another for a person of normal health and activity. So it gets carted to the bedroom on sheet changing day, and into the lounge when the fire’s going to be lit. Although billed as being quiet (which it is, unless it’s having a scranny about heavy dust) it is still a noise that once you tune into it, you know it’s there. All in all we’re pleased with it, but the real test will be in high summer when the pollen really gets going.
Fairly expensive but probably effective air purifie
Pros:
– Fairly compact in size so won’t overwhelm any reasonable size room.
– Nice and quiet – once the air has reached a “normal” level, the fan noise is extremely quiet. We have recently moved this into the bedroom and I don’t notice the fan noise at all during the night.
– The air coming out of it is nicely cool and smells “clean” if that’s possible!
Cons:
– Cost – this unit is not cheap
– I’m not entirely certain it’s doing anything! it does *seem* to make the room it is in have less strong smells (when it was in the kitchen, the day after cooking a curry that normally leaves its presence for several days but with this, the smell was not as noticeable a lot quicker).
So, I give it four stars because it is expensive and I can’t be entirely certain it’s doing something, however, it is fairly stylish and quiet so blends in and is inconspicuous. As I noted above, we have moved it to the bedroom and I will update here if it becomes more noticeable that it is removing allergens. If you have the money I would recommend you give it a try, otherwise, I find it hard to justify the cost on “its probably doing something”.
The Good
– This Philips air purifier is a premium piece of kit, with great build quality and finish evident from opening the box through to operation.
– Makes a noticeable difference to air quality, helping an asthma sufferer
– Really quiet mode for nighttime means it can be left on even in the bedroom
– Good app – really good to keep track of air quality and filter longevity
The Not-so-Good
– There are maintenance costs to be aware of: you’ll need to replace the Activated Carbon Filter approximately every year (approx 40 pounds) and HEPA Filter approximately every 2 years (approx 40 pounds), meaning running costs of appoximately 60 pounds a year plus electricity costs.
– It is quite big, and can easily get in the way – you need space to keep this, and it should be positioned to allow good airflow.
Good unit but app could be bette
This is a very good air filter from Philips, it’s quite large and looks smart in a high gloss white and matte black plastic. The cable length is 1.8 m, it’s permanently attached and there is nowhere to wind excess cable. The unit is controlled using touch controls on the top, they chime when they operate; my grandson had a great time playing with them, so it’s a pity there’s no way of locking the controls using the app. The unit has 3 filters, changed by lifting the front cover, lifetime is shown in the app, and an air quality sensor which requires cleaning every 2 months. Downloading the Air Matters app and connecting to the WiFi was straightforward; the app allows control of the unit, shows air quality levels as measured by the unit and the time to filter change. The app, which can be used without the air filter, also shows pollution levels at your location and selected cities. I had problems with the app on android 7 not always connecting to the air filter and the app needed a forced stop; it seemed much better on android 6. I have had problems with noisy air filters in the past which made them unusable and, although this unit can be noisy on high fan speeds, there is a silent mode which turns off the displays and really is virtually silent, suitable for use in a bedroom. Overall this unit is worth the extra cost and I recommend it.
Excellent Air Purifie
Very impressed indeed with this air purifier. Firstly, it’s exceptionally quiet; I’m certain it wouldn’t keep me awake in a bedroom. On the auto setting it filters the air and automatically increases its filtration if it senses any decrease in air quality, then returns to its basic setting once the air is clear. This is indicated by the colour-changing light on the front; blue for best air quality, changing through lilac and pink to red for poorest air quality. Apart from filtering out dust-like airborne particles and pollens, it also removes bacteria, so it is handy for removing coughed-out germs from the house during flu season, thus reducing the chance of infection from other householders. It’s easy to set up and operate (touch panel on top). It is quite large, so check you’ve got the right sized space for it to fit. The associated app is okay, and easy enough to set up and register. Very happy with this air purifier.
I think anyone using this AC2889/60 Philips fan would quickly realise its quality. But last year I bought a cheaper HEPA filter and the difference a few hundred extra pounds can buy you is quite stunning. There were three problems with our old filter. Low build quality, unacceptably loud even on its quietest setting, and it warmed the room up too much in the summer. By contrast, there’s something about unpacking this Philips product that’s like getting into a new car. Maybe not a BMW, granted, but it does have the feel of something that has had the highest standards of design applied to its manufacture.
So, aside from its general build quality which is a joy to behold, there are a couple of other things that make this filter nice to own. On its quiet setting it is stunningly quiet. I can’t imagine anyone who would complain about the whisper of white noise it makes sitting in their bedroom cleaning the air while they sleep next to it. Of course if you want more aggressive air cleaning, for a bigger room maybe, or to clear up a higher level of environmental particulates then you can use one of the noisier settings at which point you can definitely hear it, but it’s not an ugly sound.
Another thing that is different about this filter is that my cheaper HEPA filter has just one filter. This AC2889/60 has three, and the improvement in air cleanliness is noticeable. It could also be the case that because this filter runs all the time on silent mode this means that it’s always cleaning my air – I never feel the need to turn it off because of noise.
Finally, I usually hate installing apps for devices like this because they tend to be junk, wasting space on my phone. But this Air Matters app is really good. For a couple of reasons. Firstly it’s well designed so it’s easy to use. Connecting it over WIFI to my filter was completely easy. And it’s stayed connected, something that Bluetooth devices tend to struggle with. You can control your fan within the app, including switching between general mode, allergen mode and bacteria/virus mode. Generally the fan speed and volume increases as you move through those three modes. You can set the fan speed to one of five, ranging from silent to turbo. You can adjust the brightness of the LED light on the front of the fan, which really is a lovely thing, a bit like the white robot in the film Wall-E. And you can set a timer so you decide when the fan runs.
But the app also gives you a range of useful information about air quality, and best of all tells you when to clean and replace the filters. I suspect that it’s at the filter replacement stage that my love affair with this filter might come to an end, but I’ve looked at the prices and it’s a price I’m willing to pay for silently cleaned air.

Impressive
A really impressive air purifier that can even filter bacteria out of the air, which is quite remarkable.
It is large, but quickly becomes unobtrusive once in situ, and is quiet enough that you won’t notice it after a couple of days – just a quiet hum. It has the modern day essentials of a smartphone app, digital digital and glowing light on the front that changes colour to tell you its mood.
Up to six devices can be connected to the single purifier, and you can use the apps to turn it on and off, check the air quality and the remaining life of the filter.
A machine that can tell you how bad your air quality is, is a bit scary. Open the front door as some traffic goes past and your quality will drop. And you do have the leave the house at some point, so it has given the entire family a lesson in the invisible.
It SEEMS to work, by which I mean I am fully aware of the power of the placebo effect and it might just be that we are experiencing what we expect to experience. I don’t think this is the case through – I am a skeptic at heart but this is the real deal. The true test will come in April, when pollen starts to afflict me.
Filter cleaning – there are effectively three:
– Pre-filter: you can clean this yourself
– AC filter: recommended replacement cycle is 12 months
– HEPA filter: recommended replacement cycle is 24 months
The machine will tell you when a filter needs replacing and they cost 30-40 each.
Philips AC2889/60 Connected Air Purifie
The Philips AC2889/60 Connected Air Purifier claims to capture 99.9% of bacteria in one hour and remove 99% of airborne particles like dust, pet hair, pollen etc. Now, I can neither confirm nor deny those statistics but what I can say is that I have found the purifier to be easy to operate and like many things nowadays, it even has an app for those who want to download one to monitor and control the settings. This model has 3 purification settings – a general mode, an extra-sensitive allergen mode, and an extra-powerful bacteria and virus mode – and 5 variable speeds ranging from sleep mode through to turbo mod. The display on the machine keeps you informed of the air quality and allergen level and alerts you when the filter needs changed. It is easy to move from room to room as required and there is very little noise as it operates in the background.
Having used the purifier for a couple of weeks I am certainly optimistic about its effectiveness. My husband had a cold and was congested and the purifier certainly helped the air quality and his breathing. The real test for us will come during hayfever season when my son requires both an inhaler and daily anti-histamine so I will update this review at that time to gauge its performance. So far so good though 4*
I am very impressed with this machine. It is compact and shaped so that it will fit against a wall without taking up to much room.The controls are clear and easy to use, as is the instruction booklet. This sucks in all the bad air and particles and blows out clear air out of the vent in the top so not only does it clean the air it cools it to. The light on the front indicates the air quality by changing colour. This air purifier is easy to move around and the front drops down to change the filters. My husband is an allergy sufferer even in the Winter so we have used this in the bedroom, it really seems to clean the air which means he sleeps better as he is not so bunged up and snores less. This will be great once the hayfever season begins.We have used an air purifier in the past and it worked really well but this one seems much better in style, clearing the air, and blowing out cool air. It can be used on full blast which is very powerful or turn it down for nightime use and it is whisper quite so would be great in a childs room. When it is on the nightime mode you can hardly hear it, I have shown this in my video and Im sure you will not be able to hear it on this setting.Itcan be set on auto so if any bad air is circulating it will jump into action. It does this when my son is using his vapour cigarette thingymajig. We love using this and although it is expensive it is worth it if you have an allergy sufferer as it will be constantly used especially in the Summer. It also only takes pence to run, I have checked this on my Smart meter.
We have acquired air filters for 3 heavily used rooms so we’ve had a lot of experience with the beasts over the last 5 years. As an air purifier it is about the same size as comparable ones. The replacement filters are fairly pricey, but unlike the other purifiers they are supposed to last about twice as long. All the usual manual controls are there ….only time will see if it is more effective than the other brands at removing indoor VOCs, outdoor pollen and road traffic pollution from daring to open the window.
However it is being sold as a smart internet connected device. I was glad I’d actually given the box to my pet techie and said…here, boy, shiny toy, go set up!
The stated app doesn’t exist on the Apple Store. Philips tech support couldn’t help. He eventually found the app by a different developer which would control the air purifier and the air quality monitor we had. Then the dratted air purifier wouldn’t connect to our network…he had to reconfigure the network back into physically separate 5GHz and 2.4GHz options (it only connects to the 2.4 version). Now we’ve got to go around rechecking if all the wifi connected devices are still connected. Remote control does work though, and it IS a great idea, because we have seen air quality rapidly change on the monitors throughout the day. If you are just about to soend a lot of time in a room, best to improve the air quality first.
So. I would have to say that unless you WANT remote control AND have a pet geek to potentially configure your network, you may need to weigh up your options. Although my pet geek does occasionally need an inhaler, for the most part he is only mildly but routinely affected by allergens. It would be great to see if an intense allergy sufferer found any improvement in air quality using this product. Ooh, and the manual states that the product will physically shut down when the filter expires ((the app measures the hours of use) …….so be prepared.
Simply put, this Philips air purifier is undoubtedly the best air purifier I have used. Whisper quiet allows you to use in a bedroom whilst sleeping. Although the size of it may be off-putting to some, this is the size to expect from all good air purifiers. It is surprisingly light in weight and easily transported from room to room. It has a built-in sensor and will display the quality of the air in the vicinity by the colour of the light at the front, Blue for good, red for poor and in-between colours for varying quality. A feature I like… the Philips air purifier will display different codes letting you know when the filters require changing. These are very simple to remove and replace.
This purifier is a must for people suffering from airborne allergens. Asthmatics, and Rhinitis sufferers alike will almost certainly benefit, particularly living in towns and cities. When the pollen count is high, put the purifier on the fastest setting for 10 minutes or so, this will easily eradicate most of the aggravating nasties in your home, (claims 99%). It has 5 different speed setting from whisper quiet sleep mode to a turbo setting. Also, different mode settings including Allergen mode, Bacteria and Virus mode.
This air purifier it really is good for creating a pure atmosphere in the room when someone is not feeling well, especially if they have a respiratory problem, due to a cold, or other viruses, bronchitis, or blocked noses in general. Last night, my grandson had a bad congested chest, so we put the air purifier in his bedroom… and the air felt fresh and the machine was very quiet. He slept really well. I think that was due to the good quality of the air purifier.
You can download an app to your phone which enables you to monitor the air quality and allergen level, also giving you the control to change the speed of the fan to ensure your home is at its best air quality when you arrive home from work etc. Use the purifier when cooking to eradicate some of those smells filling the house, its terrific. I give this air purifier a well deserved 5 stars
