Following in the tradition of previous games in the Pokémon series, players choose one of three special Pokémon to be their first partner. These are among the first Pokémon players will encounter in the game. In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, players will be able to choose between the newly discovered Grass- and Flying-type Pokémon Rowlet, Fire-type Litten, and Water-type Popplio.
For a Pokémon Trainer, knowing the Pokémon types and how they match up against one another in battle is vital. Grass-type Pokémon are strong against Water types, but weak against Fire types. Fire-type Pokémon are strong against Grass types and weak against Water types. And Water-type Pokémon are strong against Fire types, but weak against Grass types.
Rowlet
The first of the potential partners is the highly adaptable Grass Quill Pokémon, Rowlet. This Pokémon can fly silently through the skies, sneaking up on its opponent without being noticed. It can attack its opponents using powerful kicks, and it can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers. Rowlet can survey its environment and turn its neck nearly 180 degrees from front to back, so it can see directly behind itself. When in battle, Rowlet turns its head to face its Trainer when waiting for instructions.

It’s a good game from beginning to end. And I enjoy catching training all different pokemon that are available in this version. Wanted to complete my collection of these games so I had all versions of the game.

I love Pokémon moo
I love Pokmon moon, still captures all of the nostalgia and fun of previous Pokmon games but with great new features as well. I can’t give a full five stars however because of a new feature where Pokmon can call for help during battle – this can result in a super long battle if you’re in a cave and zubat keeps calling his lil buddies. You can’t catch a Pokmon while two are fighting you as well, so it can be irritating. But it doesn’t affect that the game is, in whole, one of the best.

New 3DS is a mus
Great game, got 100% pokedex quite quickly as there is no national dex to cause distraction. Shiny hunting with SOS battles allows me to pick up and put down the 3DS. I would recommend using it on the new 3DS or 2DS system as it runs quicker, I had a race with a friend and they went out and purchased a new 2DS the following day. Breeding (mass breading) is a lot quicker as you can dump eggs in a spring and get on with other things.

Having a lot of fun in this latest installation of Pokmon! Lots of new features to explore. Double Battles might run better on higher-spec DS than the 2DS. Graphics during Double Battles on the 2DS get a bit slow, but other than that it runs smoothly.
If you are a Pokemon fan this is worth a buy for sure it is all in all a great game and will provide a long and splendid story experience, there are a ton of reviews out there so I wont go to in depth. however the only few cons are that it is not a fully fair battle system and at times the AI does get more goes than you which can be extremely frustrating.
The game in total can last as long as you want it to, with training of Pokemon lasting weeks and months, online battles and also a new challenge tree mode which makes for very hard AI to beat post game. the ultra beats section is fantastic and provides a good new story line for future games while also allowing you to catch new Pokemon that are very different from all seen before,
More land to explore than before and the graphics are great for the DS, the battle dynamics are given a good shake up so it will provide a good change for long running fans however is easy enough to pick up for new comers to the game It does get a real catch all feel to it and makes you want to keep playing long after the main game is complete.
The way shiney Pokemon are caught has changed with the new call for help system, at first this will be a real pain and you will hate them for bringing it in, however after a while and when attempting to catch shiney Pokemon you will be thankful for this new system as it is far better than the one in X and Y. It actually makes shiney Hunting more fun as you feel there is a real chance you may get one each time, even though the odds are still in the 8000 or so to 1 range.
Value for money in time spent playing, but expensive for what it is, especially as the other version all but the same

It must be so cheap to develop these games compared with other formats (XBO, PC and PS4), yet they charge so much. Ah well, cant say we didn’t get our money’s worth.

Awesome! Must admit, it’s been a bit too easy for me, but that might be cos I have focused on catching a lot more pokemon than usual, so naturally I’ve earned a lot more exp! Good story so far, fun battles and awesome pokemon. I was a bit skeptical at first about the idea of it being on an island like Hawaii, but it’s amazing!!

Much like Sun. This is an absolute beast of a game, a real kickstart for the franchise. Very playable, introduced enough new elements to shake up the formula whilst still feeling familiar enough for long time fans.

Just the right difficulty curve, so many great quality-of-life improvements and an involving story! Possibly the greatest Pokemon games so far. My only complaint is that the end credits music is a bit bland, but that’s it!
First Pokémon game I have bough
I bought this shortly after its release. The story is great, really gripping, and replacing gyms with the Island Challenge was definitely a risk that paid off. I love the way the story progresses and how they make the Island Challenge feel like a natural part of the story. I also love the nods to the previous games which, whilst I have played very little of them, I enjoyed seeing the references everywhere. I would highly recommend getting this game.

Great game! I played almost every Pokemon game there is and am very pleased with the innovations they made. I love the new Pokemon and I love the Hawaiian feel. The gameplay is tad boring and I would like to see the gym leaders make a comeback in the next game 🙂

Pre-ordered this game back in November as my friends were also getting it. We’ve pretty much played alongside each other and battle between ourselves regularly. It’s a good game for starting with due to other handy features that mean you don’t need to remember typings so much. The story was enjoyable and it allows for play even after finishing the main game.

Bought this as a present. It’s pokemon, just like all the other pokemon games except newer. That’s all I can say really. I believe there are features in this game that were not present in previous games. I haven’t played a pokemon game since the original ones but have been told this is much better.

Bought, probably like so many others, for my son for a Christmas gift and it went down a storm. I didn’t see my 19 year old for dust, aside from a quick Christmas dinner, until at least New Years! His report back is that he loved the new characters, thoroughly enjoyed the game play and staunchly put me down when I suggested Pokemon Go with just as good! *lol*.

Very enjoyable game. Story is much longer than other games and plays a vital role in the game, compared to other Pokmon games where the story is almost secondary. Pity there’s little post game events and practically nowhere to level up Pokemon except the Pokmon league

As always a great game. Lots of hours of gameplay and I always love these games. The only thing I didnt like was how they have made the intro and you actually getting about with your first pokemon much longer! I was playing for over an hour before I got to just wander around and have a pokemon fight and catch a pokemon.

Very good game, while the fomula differs slightly from the older games, it is still very fun to play. My 8 year old sister really enjoys this game, especially the customisation of the player character and the Pokmon grooming mini-game.

This game is probably the best Pokemon game I have ever played. It is even worth buying a 3ds or new 3ds just for the sake of this game. Interesting story mood, amazing animations, a fun experience.

Overall, it's a good game. There are a few negatives though.
I preordered this game just a few days before release, but I still got it on release day. Great service.
As for the game itself, I thought it was pretty good. The main campaign is quite long as long as you don’t try to rush through it. The game is too easy if you play with the Exp Share on and leave Battle Mode as ‘Switch’, so I recommend you disable the Exp Share as soon as you get it, and turn the Battle Mode to ‘Set’. This is what I did, and it provided a genuine challenge at a few points. When I reached the Elite Four, my pokemon were just slightly below the levels of their pokemon, which meant that I had to play well to beat them. I’m currently just challenging the Battle Tree which is the main postgame battle area, and after that I’ll probably be done. I’ve put in 75 hours so far and might clock up ~100 until I am finished. Pretty decent value.
The main negative point for me was how many cutscenes there were. I personally don’t care for them and would rather get on with playing the game, but at some points there are multiple cutscenes one after the other (i.e. cutscene, take a few steps forward, cutscene) and I found myself rushing through them just so I could get back to the game. It’s also worth mentioning that the framerate is quite bad during double battles. This is really disappointing as I enjoy double battles in the postgame but it becomes a bit frustrating to fight during the lag. Triple battles have also been removed, which is a shame as I enjoyed them a lot in X/Y. I imagine they were only removed because of the lag they would generate. I personally don’t see why they changed the engine from X/Y, which could handle this stuff fine.
Overall, it’s a good game. The mechanics are the best so far (e.g. no more HMs), but I still prefer the experience of the older games, which don’t bombard you with cutscenes and don’t hold your hand as much. Younger kids will love it but fans of the older games might be a bit disappointed.
Game is great, just a few little niggles
It’s not a bad game by any means, few qualms i have with it is that there’s no Pokebank support yet and there’s really not a lot of end game things to do.

Best Pokemon Game
Probably the best Pokemon game so far, unlike previous ones that had gyms, this one has trials, Kahunas, and the Elite Four is the Kahunas of the islands. The islands all have unique designs, Lillie was a very interesting character, Cosmog was adorable, pew, the SOS system for more Pokemon appearing made wild battles more challenging, NPCs don’t all just have Poke Balls, some have Great Balls, some Nest, some Ultra, more trainers actually use items than just you and the Elite Four. There were a lot of neat details really.
X & Y were slightly too easy, this one was harder but in a way that it felt natural that it was harder. Also, HMs and the Item Finder have been replaced with Pokemon Rides, which are awesome and mean you’re not wasting a move slot to learn Surf or Fly any more.
If there is one downfall for me, it is that it takes more effort to get to the Wonder Trade and GTS now by going to the Festival Plaza and then trade, then choosing an option, then having to choose an option again afterwards so it feels like it takes much longer to Wonder Trade say a box full of version exclusive Alolan Pokemon than it should.

My kids love these games, and they were chuffed at a good pre-order price and prompt delivery. Very much cheaper than buying it in the High Street and they had it on release day – doesn’t get much better than that. I’m not really a gamer but these games are legendary and our kids have spent many happy hours with them.

If you’re new to Pokmon, it’s a good game to start on.
As for older Pokmon fans, it’s not as some previous games, but isn’t impossibly difficult.
This game doesn’t run in 3d mode as far as I can see, but no one ran it in 3d anyway.

An excellent instalment of a classic franchise.
The main storyline is very fun and innovative with just enough nods to the previous generations to keep us genwunners happy. The post-storyline adventure feels a little too much like an overlong Pokmon treasure hunt, and some of the new mechanics aren’t as intuitive as in previous games, but by and large it’s an excellent instalment of a classic franchise.

The best Pokemon games to be released!?
Pokemon Sun and Moon are easily my favourite Pokemon games for a long time. The story, character and mechanics have managed to pull me in like none of the others have since maybe the originals. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a few issues along the way, losing a save to corruption with almost 400 hours of playtime but I keep plodding on.

Big fan of the franchise, this is an excellent instalment. The region is beautifully designed and there are a lot of new features that work around previously tedious processes like EV training/super training.
As with many of the more recent Pokmon games however, it’s very easy to complete (other than completing the pokedex of course).
Pokemon Moon shines very bright!
This game is possibly the best in the series so far. It streamlines some of the more cumbersome parts of the game while keeping the magic and pick up and play aspects of the series. The graphics are good and the animation style suits the game. Sound is good and the music, again, suits the location that the game is set in.

I bought this for my 11 year old, really liked it. It was a Christmas present, wanted the Moon rather than the sun version as prefers the moon pokemon characters, I think it’s a simple personal preference, otherwise both games are of similar characteristics.
