I was looking for a security camera system which (i) didn’t need to have batteries charged, (ii) wasn’t storing camera data on a third party storage facility, and (iii) didn’t rely on Wi-Fi connectivity. The RLK8-800D4 provides all of that.
Pros:
– Plug and play simplicity
– Good quality cameras with good range of adjustment and field of view
– Waterproof covers for the ethernet connections
– Apps for phones, computers and tablets plus a built-in web server interface
– Lots of flexibility in what and how you record, with many options for storage, notifications etc.
– Easy to export and download local copies of high quality 4K footage with optional audio
Cons:
– The various apps all differ in what they allow you to do and use inconsistent terminology (e.g. High or Low image quality is also called Clear or Fluent)
– The web interface doesn’t scale well on phones
– The fixed camera tails are rather unwieldy
– The cameras cannot be locked in position and can thus easily be re-adjusted by anyone unless you glue them in position
– No easy way to scrub through playback footage other than varying the speed of replay up to 16x
The unit is initially set to record 24/7 constantly which will fill up the 1TB hard drive in about a week — this is “timer” mode. You can unset this and use “alarm” mode instead which only records detected motion (along with a configurable pre and post motion buffer period) which should give months of recording before starting to overwrite the disk.
The dome cameras can be installed vertically or horizontally — I have mine all fixed vertically to brick walls. There is enough lateral and vertical movement and field of view to capture footage of the house doors below the cameras on the same vertical plane (see my photos). The cameras have fixed non-removeable tails about 60cm long which are 20mm thick at the widest point. You can drill directly behind the camera to pass the tail the through the wall and thus hide the tail and all the wiring completely. You will need a 25mm hole and 25mm round PVC conduit to allow the tail to pass through a standard 30 cm cavity wall. The tail can then be easily connected to the ethernet cable inside the house. I recommend using the supplied protectors which make the ethernet connection much less liable to be pulled apart. These are fitted over the ethernet cable terminations before you plug them into the tails. They use rubber sealing washers and a split rubber grommet and therefore do not require the cables to be cut or re-terminated.
The computer and phone apps work fine but take some getting used to. By default they use Reolink’s remote servers to give you access to the system wherever you are via an automated UID login and Reolink’s private protocol. You can disable this by turning off the UID in the advanced networks settings (which kills the apps) and instead just use the control unit’s web interface. This is accessed on your local network by entering the control unit IP address into your browser. The web interface lets you store the unit in a non-accessible location without an attached monitor and administer it from a browser on a computer on your LAN. It seem to have all the facilities of the local control unit app, including renaming the cameras and formatting the hard drive, neither of which are possible on the computer and phone apps. You can of course also expose the web interface to the internet if you use a dynamic DNS service and port forward it externally. You can even install a proper TLS cert via the web interface – I used the one provided by NO-IP as part of their DDNS service (just be sure to create a PEM cert with the full chain embedded, named as a .pem file with the the private key named as a .key file). The only downside is that the web interface is designed for computer or tablet screen access and scales poorly on phones (the camera images get badly stretched).
On the whole I am very pleased with the system. I hope to use it in “set and forget” mode for many years.

Very pleased with the system. Easy to set up and easy to use. Very good quality for the price. Having read reviews before I bought, I invested in cat 6 cables, instead of the cat 5 ones supplied. Maybe this could be offered as an upgrade.

This is the best cctv we have had. There is so many out there.
We use to have Swann. And can say we are very happy with this new purchase.
This system is great. The picture is incredible and sound capture really good too. Very easy to fit also. The only downside is the extra power and hard reset cables on the camera which are unnecessary. The app is relatively easy to use but could do with a better scrolling option through the playback videos as it’s difficult to use on a mobile
Nice looking turret cameras but I have dropped a star because the white cameras have 3 black fly leads.
Why would you use black leads on a white camera? Totally spoils the look.
This is a power over ethernet (PoE) system so why does it need an unnecessary power lead on the camera?
The 3rd lead is a reset switch. Surely you can reset the camera remotely or just unplug and reconnect it?
I have bought stone coloured paint to try and disguise these ugly leads.
The system is easy to set up although I had to use 2 ethernet extension leads. Some systems have 2 longer leads included.
The NVR box is small and modern and makes little or no noise.
The camera mountings are easy to fix to a wall and the camera just twists onto the mounting plate easily.
Picture quality is good both day and night and playback is simple to use.
It offers vehicle, person or motion detection, or just 24 hour recording.
This is my 4th system, after Anlapus, Zosi and Annke, and is far better than all of them.
Amazon offered 100 off so it was a decent price.
I would recommend this system for someone looking at a home or business ‘fit and forget’ system.

So easy to setup, I’ve added 2 more RLC 820a cameras so 6 in total. Quality is superb even at night. 4K crystal clear. Just can’t fault this system. The phone and desktop app is amazing. Ignore the bad reviews from people that can’t set this up or know how it works properly. It’s SO easy and is really impressive.
Overall very pleased, quality is great (upgraded from 1080p). Very easy to set-up, quite intuitive.
– Long length ethernet cables provided, including waterproof glands for the connections.
– Easy to position to any angle or position once fitted.
– 24/7 recording with AI vehicle/Person detection so far has been flawless.
– Sound recording is really good, very clear and picks up everything.
– CCTV warning stickers included for placing in windows etc..
Few things that I’d possibly liked to of known/researched prior to purchase:
– Genuine junction boxes are very expensive. I 3D printed my own for this reason.
– No geofencing for notifications, they’re either on or off, you can set scenes, but these are manually set.
– Setting up through a PoE switch gives added functionality to the cameras, such as auto update firmware for each camera and different settings for each camera, without this global settings are applied. (you will need an SD card in each camera though to do this)
Good value
Good quality images and easy to set up. Some of the camera shrouds felt a bit loose holding the cameras but seem to stay in place.
If you shut the system down, it seems to just sit there and not shut down. Had to unplug and hope it didn’t corrupt the system.
Happy overall though.

So I did alot of research and watched multiple YouTube reviews of CCTV systems prior to purchase. I was skeptical of the reolink system with the price tag attached however having installed the system it has been fantastic.
The installation was extremely easy. Set up the NVR in the loft and drilled a single hole through soffit where I wanted each camera. The attached cable on each camera was long enough to run through the outside brick, cavity and thermablock meaning the connections are all inside the loft and not subject to the weather. I have used the supplied seals for the connections even though its inside the loft because I thought why not.
The camera quality and set up is fantastic. Both daytime and nighttime quality is fantastic, the set up I literally plugged the camera into the NVR and it brought the image straight up on screen without any messing about.
I’m happy that I can add a further 4 cameras in time and because Mt Internet is so good (fibernest) the viewing comes up on the app almost immediately.
All together, fantastic cameras for the price and I am very impressed.

Einfache Installation, extrem gute Bildqualitt. Einfache Handhabung. Die Kameras verbinden sich wie beschrieben automatisch und sind sehr einfach zu installieren und genau so einfach zu bedienen. Bei mir sitzen sie direkt unter dem Dach (ca. 7m Hhe). Bin sehr zufrieden mit der Auflsung (ich kann auf den Boden zoomen und kann Maserungen im Holz erkennen am Tag und in der Nacht sind diese nur leicht schlechter erkennbar. Schade nur, dass es sie nicht in der Farbe schwarz gibt. Sonst kann ich absolut nichts negatives berichten, nach 2 Monaten im 24h Einsatz.

Ive Since upgraded the the 16 Channel 4k NVR and further added more Cameras and 2 x 6TB Hard drives. This system is excellent in many ways. The App is very easy to use when away from home. Only gripe is Spiders and Cobwebs often trigger false motion detection.

Ho installato la soluzione in appartamento con 4 camere in esterno e 4 all’interno. Il supporto POE rende l’installazione semplice e veloce. Attenzione al cavo che esce dalla telecamera un po’ lungo ed ingombrante (non entra in una scatoletta 503, andrebbe accorciato di almeno 10-15 cm.
Le telecamere sono ben fatte, robuste e semplici da installare.
Il software completo e semplice da gestire in fase di configurazione del sistema cos come da utilizzare per controllare l’abitazione anche da remoto.
Ottimo sistema di videosorveglianza
Visione notturna ottima , semplice da installare , l ‘app. per il controllo da remoto utilissima , il sensore di movimento si potrebbe migliorare.

The quality of the image is outstanding in the day, colours are extremely accurate and you can easily read registration plates.
Night vision is excellent, the IR LED’s are very well placed and easily light up the entire field of view of the camera.
NVR is REALLY easy to setup and use, I was really surprised when I was setting it up for the first time.
If you’re looking for a 4K NVR Kit then this is definitely the one to get.

Dans l’ensemble plutt satisfait.
La qualit d’image de jour et de nuit sont plutt bonne. Le fait qu’il y ai l’audio est un vraie plus et pouvoir faire un backup des vido en FTP vers un NAS galement.
Seul petit bmol, il faut jongler entre l’appli PC et mobile pour avoir accs a l’ensemble des paramtrages possible, c’est dommage.

Once that arrived we installed it and it now works great, customer services refunded the HD cost via our first purchase, including the postage to return the faulty HD.
Just a shame about the camera fixings.

Top quality recording and functionality

.. ich hatte vorher das Arlo System, der stndige Batteriewechsel und die schlechte Bewegungserkennung hatte ich satt. Bin auf dieses System gestoen und durchweg zufrieden. Schnell montiert und installiert. App funktioniert bis jetzt auch tadellos. Die gnstigen Verteilerdosen (12) passen auch, wenn man zwei Gewindelcher hinzufgt.

First PoE CCTV system – very impressed with the picture quality. PoE is fantastic for simplifying installation too. Decent amount of cable included – used it for the internal runs then connected on to weatherproof cable for the external runs (the included cable is very much just for internal use). Nice unobtrusive cameras, worth paying for the proper D20 external fixings IMHO. Interface decent, some slight bugs in the mobile app but seems to be continually developed so hopefully these well get fixed. AI detection of people/vehicles vs general motion seems to work well.

Despus de probar tres modelos de cmaras de vigilancia y sus entornos, me quedo en este de Reolink. En particular con su kit Reolink 4K. La IA que detecta personas tiene sus falsos positivos y algn que otro positivo sin detectar, pero configurando bien el nivel de deteccin, intensidad y zona de no deteccin, el resultado es bastante bueno.
Es muy simple de instalar, prcticamente plug and play. Lo nico es el montaje en casa tirando cables a las diferentes zonas donde se coloquen las cmaras. Eso ya depende de lo manitas que sea cada uno.
Tanto las cmaras como el NVR tienen buena pinta, espero que me duren mucho.
El servicio tcnico muy bueno tambin. Tena un problema porque no poda tener otras cmaras de vigilancia funcionando al mismo tiempo. El NVR se reiniciaba cada pocos minutos en bucle. Me lo solucionaron envindome un firmware que elimin el problema. Ahora todo va genial.
Las alertas push en el mvil a veces fallan. No mucho, pero ah estn los fallos espordicos.

Produkt macht einen Hochwertigen Eindruck. Die Kameras sind nicht aus billigen Plastik. Die Halterungen aus Metall. Auflsung der Kameras sind sehr gut. Installation per Plug and Play relativ einfach.

Todo perfectamente envuelto. Tena dudas si las cmaras iban a ser de material de plstico y para nada. Se ve que son de material bueno y quedan muy bien estticamente. Traen cable RJ45 para las cuatro cmaras de hasta 18 metros. Todo tipo de conexiones y preparado para funcionar. No se necesita nada extra. Incluye hasta un ratn para el NVR.
Es el primer sistema de cmaras que compro y no lo puedo comparar con otros, pero la calidad de las cmaras es muy buena. Estoy muy contento con la compra. Lo recomiendo al 100%
Todo perfectamente envuelto. Tena dudas si las cmaras iban a ser de material de plstico y para nada. Se ve que son de material bueno y quedan muy bien estticamente. Traen cable RJ45 para las cuatro cmaras de hasta 18 metros. Todo tipo de conexiones y preparado para funcionar. No se necesita nada extra. Incluye hasta un ratn para el NVR.

Ich hatte vorher ein Arlo Systhem mit Dratlosen Kameras. Dafr hatte ich Akkus (sonst wird man eh arm) trotzdem alle 6 Wochen wechseln. Dann katastrophale Bewegungserkennung. Da konnte jemand mit dem Pferd durchs Bild reiten, das hat sie nicht erkannt. Dieses Systhem Drhte nerfig…. Aber verdammt das Bild ist so klasse. Sie erkennen alles die Alarme sind super und vor allem zeigen sie auch die Zeit vor und nach dem Alarm. Springen nicht erst an wenn eigentlich schon alles vorbei ist. Der Speicher reichte mir bisher. Bin oft weg und schaue dann halt nach was zu Hause los ist. Ich meine auch irgendwas (als ich mir ein neues Kamera Systhem gesucht habe viel Rezensionen gelesen) das der Lfter laut sein soll. Also ich habe ihn in meinem Schlafzimmer stehen 4 Meter vom Bett und hre nix. Auf wenn ich direkt daneben stehe, ist mir noch nichts aufgefallen. Ich habe sie nun seit 8 Wochen und bin wirklich extrem Glcklich ber diesen Schritt. Danke

Top Bildqualitt, einfache Installation, habe es ber einen PoE Switch mit 4 Kameras verbunden. Funktioniert einwandfrei!

Happy with the system, a little slow on notifications but still good. Shame the mounting is plastic and mounting bracket could be a little more secure instead of twist on, a holding screw would do.

Unica pecca, a mio avviso, riguarda la sensibilit delle telecamere.
Non distinguono effettivamente la presenza di una persona rispetto ad un movimento generico causato ad esempio dallo spostamento di alberi e per questo motivo le notifiche sono continue anche se si imposta “solo persone”.
