Fantastic cymbals. Very bright and they have plenty of projection. They were at a great price too. I would highly recommend sabian aax cymbals if you’re looking for a professional grade set of cymbals with a modern sound.

Decent edge sounds, great bell, slightly disappointing bow.
Good crash qualities from this cymbal. A pronounced, high-end ping from the bell. However, because it is so light, when playing the bow of the cymbal it sustains with a bit of a ring. It’s a thin cymbal and I bought this in a brilliant finish, so that does make sense as to why it has those qualities. Perhaps buy the natural finish cymbal, if you’re looking for a cymbal with a slightly darker wash. Overall though, not a bad cymbal at all.

THE BEST!

This cymbal is unlike any other I've owned. As the marketing material claims, the inner part if great for riding, while the out gives a shimmering thin crash sound. It's not a crash/ride that you can crash or ride. Instead it's a ride you can ride and a crash you can crash. It really is 'two in one'! Note: If you want a traditional crash/ride, this is NOT for you.

    Best Crash/Ride Available!
I use a Zildjian 22″ Ping Ride as my usual ride cymbal, but I needed a Crash/Ride hybrid to play with a small kit with no space for anything beyond one crash cymbal. I listened to everything offered from Zildjian and didn’t find anything to my liking. Then I found this Omni cymbal, and it is perfect! I think it is the best crash/ride cymbal out there. The crash/ride balance is amazing, it has a great ping sound, and a beautiful crash sound and the sound decays nicely. It has the perfect amount of sustain.

There is a video on Sabian’s website of Jojo Mayer striking an AAX and a HHX Omni back to back. It is a good way to hear the difference. The HHX is a bit darker, and I preferred the AAX.

And it is the coolest looking cymbal, everyone always comments on how cool it looks. And it is signed by Jojo Mayer on the bottom of the bell.

Crashes easily and decays faster than a regular crash. Bright, modern crash. Rides well. Bell has excellent ping. Looks cool. Jojo Mayer’s signature is under the bell.

    Concerns:
The first thing I noticed was how flexible the edges are. The edge is very easily deflected by my fingers. I was concerned that a super hit by my drumstick might permanently disfigure the cymbal but it hasn’t happened. My 2 year old even tipped the cymbal stand over and I saw the cymbal land on its edge (in slow motion I might add) yet that didn’t cause any deformation.

Now I’m super curious how the 22″ Omni sounds…

And as usual, very quick delivery by Amazon Prime.

Most crash rides I’ve had in the past don’t have the all-round ability of this cymbal. It had a large bell that cuts through well, a nice [almost symphonic] crash will a long sustain that is of a higher pitch than you’d expect for a cymbal this size and a good responsive riding surface.
I have a favorite medium/ heavy 22′ Turkish ride that has great articulation and cut, so I was worried about showing up to gigs with just this cymbal, which is about a third of the weight. Even though it is lighter, it still cuts through, mainly because AAX’s do tend to be bright [higher pitched] cymbals.
Dynamically this cymbal will do the jazzy, gospel and even rock stuff I ask of it, but if you want a nice stick definition or ‘ping’ when riding, this cymbal may not be what you want. I like the wash and shimmer, but this is no ‘dry’ ride cymbal, it has a unique sound. . . before spending your money, I’d listen to a few being played by various drummers on the videos available here or on youtube. I based my purchase on that research and I wasn’t disappointed. As with all Sabians I’ve owned this is a very well made, quality cymbal. I was worried about it being mailed halfway around the world, but it was well packed [huge box!] and in perfect condition on arrival.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have been using Zildjians for awhile and decided to try this Sabian AAX Raw Bell Dry Ride. I have to say this is an excellent Ride cymbal. Its bright, clean and sticking comes through very clear. It has a large variety of different tones as you move up and down on the cymbal. The raw bell is excellent and cuts through nicely even with the loudest music. Overall an excellent ride for all drumming styles and all level of players. If you are shopping for a ride cymbal this is the one to get!
