It is exactly the same model as was already in situ. It does what it says on the box.
The light looks nice and works well as a security/ welcome home light. One issue is the sensitivity of the sensor- it lights up when people walk past on the street. I solve stage issue by placing a piece of tape over the top of the sensor but the product would be improved if there was an adjustable cover- as there is on other security lights
We love it. Perfect in all respects, once you sort out the wiring. Looked at reviews which explained this. If at first it doesn’t operate as you would like it, but only operates on the switch, change the terminals round. I use a 5w LED candle which is perfect, if a little bright. Have put it inside the vestibule outside the front door facing a wall, so it only comes on when someone is coming up the steps to the doo
Nice light, what I expected after installing two without a sensor last year. Just wish the sensor was a bit more sensitive and longer reaching.
easy to install and has been reliable so far.The glass panes have fallen inward after heavy wind but otherwise the only tricky part is getting the top retaining nuts – I kept dropping them and lucky managed to find them!
Look great and give a good deal of useful light.
good value for money.
Arrived overnight. Great product & works well. A few people have commented on the poor instructions or had problems installing it. Don’t know why? Connect the earth & neutral. That leaves two options for the live feed. If it is live all the time, connect to the L side, or if it has its own separate switch, connect to the Live Switched side. Simples.
Nice product, easy to install with two holes positioned for screwing onto surface. lid comes off to access bulb. no issues with water getting into the unit and it look great.
Excellent lamp for lighting up my front door at night. It takes a little adjusting but can be set to come on for the time on that you require and the setting for how dark it needs to be to come on. It can be used with a switch if you want to turn it off but I have mine permanently on. It is good quality and I have had no problem with it.
From time to time one comes across a product which is so much better made than similar products. This certainly is. It is metal and glass not cheap plastic. There is adjustment on both light leval and duration (neatly hidden under a fold-down flap). I have no doubt it will outlast the plastic job that it replaces.
Looks nice – only minor problem is that the sensor is not directional so pedestrians keep activating it. I fixed this by putting gaffer tape over the top half of the sensor. I couldn’t feed the cable thru the wall behind it and needed the cable to enter at the bottom of the unit on the front of the wall – so I had to cut out some of the inner bracket to get the cable to go past the sensor switch and fit another gromit. No bulb supplied – otherwise very pleased with it.
This is a good Porch lamp lanten that works well and is more reliable than the Power Master’s product. It looks good, can take a 100 watt bulb although a 60 Watt bulb (as we’ve used) is quite sufficent.
The instructions are rather poor but the lamp itself seems robust.
Well built.
Easy to put up where existing outdoor light was.
Note there are two available live connections……(L) and (LS).
Use (L) connection if you want the light to operate with the sensor.
Use (LS) if you want to switch the light on/off manually.
A nice outstanding light which was easy to wire and fix to wall. The only question is the light sensor as ours often goes on in the day but may be the very dull weather we’ve been having this Christmas!
This was completely straightforward to install, there were no problems at all. The wiring was clearly labelled and anyone who has wired up a 13 amp plug in the past will have no problems. If you have any doubts then seek the assistance of good handyman or electrician.
I have fitted an led energy saving bulb equivalent to 100watts in old money. This works well, illuminating the patio at the back of the house. The sensor picks up me from about 10 metres away and the “on” time is adjustable, as is the dusk setting. I can recommend this lamp as being good value and reliable.
This is a much better product than the previous security light that went faulty between 12 & 24 months.Easy to wire-up and easy to set-up.Delivery took a little longer than expected but just kept within the dates.
Arrived quickly! Very easy to fit, overall very pleased! Only niggle is that I have just gone to order another for the front garden and disappointed to see they have increased the price!
I bought 2 of these one play that quite often the other one still got 50 50
Nice product, looks good and does the job. Only giving it 4* because its smaller counterpart was delivered without the top Knob. Still waiting to receive it 4 weeks after requesting it from the supplier.
Fitted this light as the neighbours kept telling us that they had seen various “undesirables” hanging around our drive late at night when the local street lights turned off (stupid councils)..
Works a treat!
I thought it was broken at first, as when I fitted it, and switched it on (in bright sunlight), it STAYED ON.. but only for about 5 minutes.. and then it switched off, and seems to work fine since!
Doesn’t detect motion in the day, and when it gets dark it does.. and detects movement to about 9-10 meters away from the light – and has already successfully turned away the undesirables one night, when it switched on, and my 13 watt (1100 lumen) LED bulb blasted them with light.. They turned and scarpered!
One negative about this, is it IS a little difficult to get the little black caps onto the screws and took me 10 minutes of pushing and twisting to get them attached successfully.
I will be buying one for the rear of the house now too I think.
Purchased this lamp to illuminate an area totally devoid of any other source of light. I have positioned it at a height of approx. 8 feet and the PIR sensor works well. I have used an ES 100 watt clear lamp with this lantern and it works excellently. The adjustment controls are situated just below the lantern above the PIR sensor and are very sensitive with minimal adjustment needed to make quite large differences to operation so worth taking a look at this prior to fixing to it’s operating position on the wall. The back plate screws that hold the whole assembly on to the wall do not have much play in them, so I had to resort to putting a piece of cardboard behind the head of the nut before I fixed the plate to the wall. Apart from that small glitch I am really pleased with the lamp and how it operates. Would have got five stars if not for this minor issue.
Works well. Maybe too well if left on through the day it comes on every time a car passes.
The assembly instructions were reasonably clear and the wiring diagram, supplied as an extra sheet, was easy to follow. The only down side was the length of the special screws that fix the back plate to the lantern itself. These were a bit short and should have been supplied about 2 mm longer. The lantern is only just held on by the supplied screws. This problem had been mentioned in a previous review before I ordered so it was not unexpected. Other than this the lantern was very good value and works quite well on the PIR sensor. There is provision to fit a manual override switch with a bit of extra wiring but I didn’t use this function.
As other buyers have said , The screws and locking nut that hold the front to the base plate. Are to short.I had to buy longer ones.
I can not comment on the light itself,as it has only just been installed
Attractive PIR wall lantern which was easy to install following clear and concise instructions. Works well and provides sufficient illumination for its immediate area. Lamp received in good time from ordering, in good condition and very well packaged.
I am pleased with the lamp, it lights up with movement during day light hours which I did not expect.
Most lamps purchased are supplied with bulbs, surprised that this lamp did not come with a bulb. Otherwise very happy.
Difficult to fit on my uneven stone wall due to short screws but works well and good value.
great product for price, instructions not so good, if you are connecting to a switched socket connect live wire to (L) live terminal all other wires as per normal. once connected and all parts put together if done in daylight place cardboard box over the entire lantern and turn on switch leave until light goes should be within 1 hour then adjust settings when dark.hope this helps.
The lamp is good for the price but it is certainly a cheaper light. Lots of plastic. Fitting was simple and the instructions, while minimal, were enough to get the light fitted. Doesn’t come with a bulb so if you are ordering don’t forget to get one of those too.
These are great value. Made of metal, easy to assemble but with just two screw holes to fix it down with it seems somewhat too weak. Note that these are not very tall.
The lamp and PIR sensor work perfectly fine. The package comes with an insert on how to wire with manual override. Handyman had no issue installing it. Adjustment on the PIR sensor is easy.
Nicely made and stylish. It replaced a scruffy non-PIR I inherited when I bought the house. Only slight annoyance is the screws on the front are fiddly and not that easy to fit. They are in fact more nuts than screws. I installed a halogen bulb and it serves its purpose very well although there is no sensitivity adjustment, just a darkness sensor and length of time on. These are concealed beneath a “eyelid” fitting just above the PIR. Very good value.
Purchased two for the side of my house (driveway) and were fitted by an experienced electrician in just over an hour. Work well and with the energy saving bulbs should last for some time. Was considering purchasing two more for the front and back door but the electrician is unavailable now!
The same problem as other customers, with the screws that come from back to front were too short if the cables at the back stop the lamp being flush with the wall. Couldn’t see how to extend the time on the light but other customers have enlightened me and they are more than just ok. Very pleased with them
Good price, nicely enough made however the screws which hold the lamp to it’s wall bracket are barely long enough for the job so it took quite a bit of fiddling to get it to fit.
very well priced but had a problem with the two screws that hold the body of the lamp onto the back plate ( were a little short ) but i managed to get around that.
Not had it fixed very long, but I was pleased with design, and quality, looks very nice ,also bought my daughter one,and she loves it.
easy to assemble, set timer and sensor easily. i had read other reviews about this lantern but i had no problem understanding instructions, i will purchase again when other lights pack up which i paid a lot more for from diy shops.
how did I manage before I brought this lamp I have onley one slight niggle and that is the cencer is to good icured it simply by putting apiece of selotape acrose it now it doesnot come on when the cars come down the road great price solidly built looks great on front of house
We felt we needed a new one as the other had been up for years and is getting a little weary. Have taken this out of the package to check and seems fine. Will be a little while before we put it up by are sure it will be fine. Thanks
I was very frustrated by two of the tiny black nuts which hold the front casing to the back fitting. They would not catch the threads of the two captive bolts until I had carefully filed them such that the female thread of the black nuts became closer to the thread of the bolts. I uttered some swear words and cursed the designer but now it’s finished and working, I am very pleased.
Bought 2 of these lights and they work better than the ones I have paid a lot more money for in the past.
easy to set up timers and alls good so far .
would recommend this product for the price.
Looks really nice and installed quickly – 15 mins tops
Only minor concern was that not sure whether wired up right as light was on and was waiting for it to go off.. which it did after 2 mins … so simply changed the ‘timer’ control to be the minimum .. and all done.
I can’t for the life of me see why people have a problem wiring this light. Quite apart from the very clear instructions provided, the connections are marked on the inside of the body.
Overall it is a very well thought out and well made bit of kit, with the exception of the screws that secure the body to the base plate. These could do with being about 3mm longer. However, the old trick of pulling them forward with a loop of thin wire worked wonders.
I mounted it on a small plinth for ease of installation. The whole job took about ten minutes.
It loses one star for the screws.
Good light but a little too sensitive, would have loved to be able to alter the range when light comes on but eh it was fairly cheap so all in all was a good buy.
looks good and does what it should, good price and so far very good, well made and easy to fit.
ice looking lamp , aluminum construction not plastic like alot of these are , real glass not perspex , looks as nice as the diy store ones costing 25 or more
the fixings are poor as mentioned elsewhere , need to be a bit longer really
no cut outs or provisions for running the wire down the outside of the wall..easily sorted with a file
simple to wire up assuming you have some basic diy skills , the instructions are close to useless and dont really tell you anything
takes up to a 100 watt bulb unlike some …although its a harder to find screw fixing
the pir seems to work as intended , has 2 controls , timer for how long you want the lamp on , and lux which is if you want it to come in the day or night ..THERES NO PROVISION FOR DECREASING THE RANGE id say its around 8-10 meters , i tried decreasing its view with a peice of black tape but this fooled it into thinking it was always night time and then lit up 24/7
overall good value for what it cost me , expect some minor frustration with the fixings but its no big deal , a range ajustment would make this much better
OH and it says 2 year warrenty , theres no conctact details or info for who to speak to during these 2 years , so warrenty might be close to useless unless amazon will change it in those 2 years
Excellent lantern easy to fit with a good distance for activating the sensor nice and bright when it lights up that’s why I gave this product a five star rating its excellent I would recommend this product to all customers that want an outside lantern so thank you for inviting me to review a brilliant product.
Seems to be metal and glass not cheap plastic Works well.If you want to limit the detection angle so neighbours do not trigger it then it is easy to place a bit of black tape on part of the detector lense. Happy with produc
I had mixed thoughts about this product but when I compared it to others I thought what the heck, at the price it doesn’t really matter if I replace it within a short time. It does the job but is definitely super sensitive as comes on whenever anything passes the house. However , in fairness I live fairly close to a sided street in a cup de sac so doesn’t bother me that much and I do use a fairly energy efficient lamp. Don’t try the proper energy efficient bulbs though as they don’t work. Got to say that my partner managed to put this up himself so must be fairly easy yo install
The lantern itself was ideal for the front of the house.
However the price it was advertised with together with the free delivery turned out to be false.
Price shown was about 11 with free delivery.
Actually ended up paying over 14 -so buyer be ware of added costs!!!
What can I say about my new black outside lantern other than its replacing a similar one that no longer works, that I`ve had for many years. I haven`t fitted it yet but it appears to be exactly what I wanted as a replaceme
The item is nice looking, sturdy and works well, but the downside was that the 2 screws going in from the back of backplate which has to be screwed into the wall by 2 separate screws, are a bit short and tricky to catch in order to connect the actual body of the latern into the backplate and try to put the nut into those 2 screws I mentioned before. Ok there is a way I found which worked for me and that is prior to screwing in the backplate into the wall, place the retaining screws from behind and lick both of them with a bit of silicone and let it dry overnight in order for these 2 screws not to move back making it hard to catch when you press the body of the latern into it. Once you got the silicone dried up then it is ok, just pass through the wires from the back and screw in the backplate and then due to the silicone now holding the side screws not allowing it to move back when you try to nut it in after placing the latern’s side into these firmed up screws. hope this helps. good item
his item is very good value for money.it has a good simple design and is easy to put together.wireing was easy too.
Installed next to back door for extra security and to give some light these dark nights. Works pretty well! Installation bit tricky-ish, but you get there in the end. Try install as flat surface as possible! I also put silicon all around the edges that touch the wall to avoid water going in the hole for the cable. Sensor works fine,,, real bargain I have to admit!
d to work it out sorry about the one returned too you maybe the cover fixing bolts could be made slightly longer ok
Cheap and cheerful but not bad quality and worked without a problem. The instructions are international and only visual so you have to study the pictures for a while to understand their mind set on occasions.
One point of complaint, the base plate has two bolts to secure the lantern assembly to the base, and are supplied with dome headed nuts, these bolts are put in place in the base plate and are held captive by the plate when fitted onto the wall, as the bolts are not fixed there is room for them to move in and out, however they are only just long enough to allow the nuts to be fitted if the bolts are protruding to their maximum so you have to catch the thread of the bolt with a thin bladed knife to keep the bolt from sliding back until you can fit the nut, three hands are needed !
Very good for the price easy to install & looks really good.what more can you say about a light for goodness sake
Bought this light for the front of my daughter’s house. When it arrived we were really surprised what good quality it is for the price. It lights up really well at night and looks good.
a little fiddly as arrived in bits. but once up works fine. a light sensor would have been appreciated for an exterior lamp
This mate my needs with anythink going wrong so would give this one go when need lighting again. Same for friend’s anytime.
I read the reviews before choosing this one, and I have to agree, for the price you can’t go wrong!
My only fiddly bit was that the bolts for the cover were too short, but I fixed that with some good old chunky brass screws!
All in all, a very good buy!
As from previous reviews the screws are too short but other than that a good product.
Still trying to find how to only have it activate in the dark as so far it comes on in daylight every time I walk past!
Exactly what we needed to replace the old lamp that had reached its end.fitted reasonably easy instructions were goodonly problem were the bolts that hold the lamp to the back plate, could do with being 1/8″ longer I found slightly difficult to locate both and fit brass nuts on. Once fitted unit looks good and works fine.
Bought this Lantern to replace a similiar faulty one that I had had for 12 years.
The design of this one has been modified to improve weatherproofing.
Easy to install and set up, all settings for timmer and light are at the front of the unit whereas my old unit had the settings at the back and were difficult to access. Tape off part of the PIR lens to restrict area of activation.
This light was easy to fit, although the instructions, if you wanted to fit an override switch, were inadequate. The item is fairly well made and robust and was a very reasonable price.
The lights look good and were easy to fit except for the screws holding the light to theback plate kept moving back so I had to put blue tack on them to hold them in place.
vert clear instructions and easy to hang although i would suggest flattening the stones if you have chippings on the wall as the outside cover was a bit fiddly to fit with it not being flush the timer and dusk settings do take a ltiitle time toset up but overasll great produc
Simple to fit and really good value. About half the price of anything else out there, and is working well.
PIR adjustment is nice and easy via the little flap on the sensor, which is great because that’s normally the fiddly bit. Now installed, it’s pretty much indistinguishable from the 45 one I had there before, which this replaced because it stopped working! Hard to beat.
Very functional as it has the ability to operate both automatically as a PIR security light and as a normal light switched from a remote light switch.
The product initially came smashed but to be fair the return was handled brilliant.
The light now is up and running. Easy installation, motion works really well and is bright. I’m unsure about the plastic base but to be fair no problems at all.
So for The price I’d highly recommend it. It works, is bright and does the job.

It was just as well this was replacing a similar lamp, as the fitting instructions are poor, with blurry photos. Also, the screws that hold the lamp to the baseplate are too short, so I had to modify this by putting plugs in the baseplate and using black japanned screws instead. Easy to do but frustrating at first until I had thought of it!
Looks good and great price for this item.
Bit fiddly to fit as screw holes on the back didn’t line up very well.
Ordered three of these to replace my old identicle ones they are really good, why only gave it 4 star is because I found the small fixing nuts on the base a bit fiddley. (OH also excellent value for money delivered very quick to.)
Not installed yet.
It’s not easy to find a screw fitting bulb of 100W.
A shaped mirror to direct the light forward would be an improvement for where I intend to install it.
This light is worth the ,money. Its strong and looks ok. Only gripe, like many others, is the instructions which might as well not be there. If fitting yourself my best advise is to connect too brown for PIR function and red if on/off function, this will make sense when you fit it.
Update. after about a month, the light has started to play up. It now keeps going into flicking on and off mode and drives everyone mad. Now looking for a replacement.
The light was the best value light on offer.I found the fitting and wiring very straightforward. The one thing I have to comment on is the method of fixing the lamp itself to the fixing plate (the one you attach to the wall first). The 2 hexagonal bolts which fixes the lamp to the backplate are impossible to locate if the backplate is fixed to an uneven wall without first glueing the bolts into the backplate. Everytime I tried to locate the lamp on the backplate the 2 screws would disappear backwards and I would end up taking the backplate off again!!! Make sure the backplate is flat first with the 2 hex screws Araldited in place. The 2 “Acorn” black fixing nuts once you can see enough threads can be done up reasonably tight then.
Adjusting the “time on” and “sensitivity” are fairly difficult to get right and you don’t have to adjust them much to get a large change,so do this gradually when getting dark.
It’s only been installed on our shed for a few weeks but seems to do what it’s supposed to. The motion detector is not as far-reaching as a previous lantern but it is more than adequate. Straightforward to wire up. Impressed so far……
once i figured out the wiring diagram it was a piece of cake,it did take me a little while and it was slightly irritating as the bolts for fixing were slightly too short as well, but with patience it now works perfectly and for what i paid it i consider it a bargai
easy installation, was bigger than expected.
if you want to leave switch always on and bulb only lights up upon sensor detecting movement, just connect Live, Neutral and Earth as usual.
if you want to manually override sensor setting (switch on using manual switch like normal bulb), connect using LS, Neutral and Earth.
Can’t say how good they are waiting for them to be fitted. Delivered on time, Looks Good. Hoping they do what I want to light up the front door when coming home or get visitors.
A bit fiddly to get on the wall and be aware that the unit is wider than the base you fit to the wall first. I was fitting it in a tight space and all went well till I discovered this, what becomes an, obvious fact. Look at the hidden screws for adjusting duration and light level while it is on the ground and make notes about which is which and what direction they go in as they are hard to see if you can’t get close.
Happy with it after a few months and better4 than the rusty thing it replaced.
Must be the cheapest anywhere. What have you got to lose at about a tenner.Works 100% perfectly.Had expensive ones before and they don’t last so time will tell with this one, quality build what do you expect for the money!!.For the price It works when it should and turns off as required as they say “It does at say’s on the tin”.9 out of 10.
I looked all over for a lamp that stated it had PIR and day/night sensor, but very few state this even tough they have both features. This one has both features and works well. It works fine with a 3 watt LED bulb installed
I bought three of these, one for each side of the garage door & one for the side of the house. The only problem, mentioned by previous reviewers, was that the fixing bolts pushed back into the rear of the lamp when attempting to fit the front. Pre-warned by the other reviews, I attempted to solve this by holding the bolts in place with insulation tape to prevent them pushing back. It was still very difficult to assemble the nuts, but I did manage on two of the lamps. Assembly proved impossible on the third lamp. If the left hand nut was assembled first, even by just half a thread, the right hand one couldn’t be started & vice versa. These bolts are just too short to do their job.
I solved the problem by making some longer bolts. I happened to have some M4 threaded rod & some nuts in my garage. I cut two lengths of this rod, longer than the supplied bolts & fitted a nut to each. I peened over the end threads so that the nuts would not unscrew. These were then used instead of the supplied bolts & assembly was easy.
It should not be necessary to go to these lengths to fit purchased items & for this reason I hesitated about the 5 star rating, but overall the lamps are so good I felt 5 stars were justified.
Why Byron supply such short bolts is a mystery, hopefully they’ll read this & change to slightly longer bolts, about 3mm longer should be fine.
This is a well designed product with one small exception. If you wish to chain a series of lights, then getting two sets of wires into the back of the previous one is difficult and needs prepartion and planning as it not designed for this.
If you just have one light and one set of wires it is very easy. The controls for sunlight and time are brilliant as they are on the front of the light, easily accessible unlike many other brands which are underneath and so very difficult to see in sunlight.

..The screws from base could do with being longer and easier to hold in position, also wire’s longer which coul bee trimed if required
Great product, especially the design is pleasing to the eye end less intrusive like the security type lamps and therefore ties in better with household decor.
Such a pity that the transport thereof (to South Africa) doubles the price! If it was not for the latter, I would have given this a 5 star!
I chose the 5 star rating because that is what it is, for the money it was well worth it, when we had it installed, it was an asset to lighting up our driveway when anyone came to call. (you must find a good electrician) who knows what he is doing. has to be lined up perfectly for it to work properly though.
This lantern met all my needs. Additional PIR – easy to fit and at a great price. I had been looking for this product for quite some time and was really delighted when I got an email from Amazon advising me about this. It arrived in record time, well packaged and so easy for my brother to fit. The PIR is adjustable – timewise and directional which makes it very flexible. I have it outside my front door and it also looks great. I would not rate this Lantern highly enough
This is a fine lamp which has now beenup several months and seems to be pretty sturdy. I bypassed the infra red sensor for my particular use, so I cannot say how well that feature would have worked. I think it is excellent value for money.
Reasonably wheel made for the price (13). Easy to install. Cannot comment on PIR because I did not need that feature so I bypassed the wiring. Only other comment is that the bulb socket is quite high up in the fitting so that if using an energy saving bulb, the top of the bulb is above the glass area in the top of the fitting.
Speedy delivery, you get what’s advertised, easy to fix good instructions. We purchased our last one 5 years ago so it lasts a while considering the price.
good value for the money, but beware the fixings that come from the rear of the product need fixing by the buyer,
when you try to put the unit together they keep going back remember fix rear bolts first with something that will stop
them receding.rob
This was a replacement for the original , purchased earlier this year, excellent service from Amazon as usual.
This lamp is well made and effective but did not last long due to failure of the Sensor unit .
Hugh Stanley.
Installed this last weekend. To be honest I didn’t need to use the motion sensor capability since this was installed in a back yard, so i wired up the lamp terminals direct to the electricity outlet thus bypassing the motion detector circuitry.
Product is easy to install and looks good, I managed to fit in a Philips 23W tornado CCF bulb in it easily. I will really know how durable the product is when winter weather comes up and the black paint is still on and hasn’t peeled.
This wall lantern was a second replacement as the first arrived damaged and it’s replacement worked well for approximately one month but then stopped operating. The Amazon replacement service worked exceptionally well and the final replacement has now been operating well for about one month and hopefully will continue in the future.
A bargain at 15.99 ,nice design touch of eyelash cover. Very simple to assemble and install , came complete with instructions for dummies guide. please note* Bulb not included. My only criticism would be the bolts that secure the front cover are not captive, a simple nut would suffice if mounting on uneven surface as the bolts fall back into the body of the backplate.[…]
Product update… unit replaced Dec 2012
Product update… unit replaced again Aug 2013
This lamp is fitted next to our frount door.
At first it worked a little too well, as as it was reacting to every car passing on the road.
However a spot of black paint strategicaly placed on the p.i.r has got over this problem
and it now works perfectly.
