Very stylish Smeg kettle. Smooth operation. The filter needs to be washed and the kettle boiled several times for the slightly chlorinated taste to go. Very expensive for what it is. Time will tell whether it lasts longer than others I’ve had. I’m pleased with it so far.

I am very pleased with this kettle. It looks gorgeous. It has a flip open lid which allows very easy access to refill with water. The lead can be wrapped around a cord holder under the base if you need to shorten the grey cable. It is noisier than my previous kettle when boiling but it doesn’t bother me. It will keep looking nice as not like a stainless steel finish where it can have streak marks. It has a nice sturdy handle for pouring and the spout doesn’t drip.

Looks beautiful in my kitchen! It is quite loud but I don’t really mind that so much because it is quick! However, after the water has boiled, the kettle makes a static noise, like a very quick “zap”, every now and then which I am a little concerned about… but all in all, a really great kettle!

I purchased the silver Smeg kettle and I love it. It’s so shiny but easy to keep clean with dettol spray and a green minky cloth.
The switch is lovely to turn on and lights up a white light when the kettle is boiling.
The filter is removable from the spout for ease of cleaning.
Amazon was the cheapest online store I found it too.

Really thought hard about buying this kettle as it was really expensive. What was I worried about? It is beautiful and the blue colour is so delicate! Boils quickly, and looks great. Added bonus – the cable winds easily round the underneath of the base and exits wherever you require.

I love the style of this kettle. Its solid and it pours with out drips. It’s lovely to look at.
There is one thing, however. Sometimes the lid does not open on the first or second or third push of the button! This kettle is expensive, obviously you pay for the name. I think the lid should open every time on the first push of the button. Having said that I do think it adds style to my kitchen and I would buy it again.

We like the kettle, but we were a little disappointed that it wasn’t what we thought we were ordering. In the photograph it looks like matt, brushed metal, but when it arrived it was very shiny chrome. We’re keeping it as we love the design, and it works well, but feel the photograph was misleading.

Most beautiful kettle I have ever had. It’s good quality and I am very happy. However if you need a functional one there are certainly cheaper products than this. If you care about design instead you won’t be disappointed.

Form and function. A kettle needs to boil water effectively and it’s a bonus if it looks good while doing so. This Smeg kettle does both. Great design worth the higher price IMO.

Love the SMEG range, this kettle is chunky and the rotational stand makes it easier to place on worktops and safer to lift etc. One negative…I find it hard to view the fill level as it is under the handle. Otherwise I’d give 5. (No idea what ‘warmth, and ‘sheerness’ relate to in star categories BTW)

Didn’t ever think we’d consider having this brand in the house, but went for this one due to colour, capacity and design. Quieter than our old kettle. Hopefully it’ll last as long, if not longer (five years).

I love Smeg products. The design and colour of this kettle is great! I got it only two days ago and I have not had any issue so far. Hope it keeps like this. It’s expensive but I see this more like a design product rather than just a kettle. So if you want to buy on something that could match your kitchen go for it, if you just want a kettle to boil water, you have many other good products!

The brand ‘SMEG’ emblazoned on the kettle are solid and look as if they will not fall off (not printed letters like some of the reviewers have described based on their purchase). Also the lid being plastic makes sense, otherwise you could burn yourself, so I’m happy it’s made of good quality solid plastic. Further, the list has a rubber seal preventing steam and/or water leaking out when you poor water out of the spout. The main kettle body is metal and painted and does get hot, so be aware of this point. Having said that, the head is no different to other kettles out there on the market. I read a couple of reviewers have blistering paint, but I’ve not seen this porblem (yet). Time will tell I guess. Overall, I really like this kettle. Yes it’s expensive, and yes some parts are plastic, but it’s all solid and well made based on first impressions.

I do like this kettle it’s quick to boil and looks great. My only concern is the lid as you need to push a button down on top of the lid to open it and I wonder how long it will last with real world usage. We shall see.

This is the the second smeg kettle I’ve bought, the first one only lasted about 18 months, I bought a second because I like the look and it matched my smeg toaster I hope this one lasts longer or I will not be buying smeg again, the only thing I don’t like about it I think it’s very heavy to lift when water is in it.
Excellent kettle, with only one minor issue
Easily the best looking kettle for any kitchen – both modern and traditional. Excellent build quality and smooth pouring action. Boils in good time. However, I’ve noticed that after boiling, condensation builds up on the inside of the lid (obviously!) and if opened fully straight after use the condensation has a tendency to drip down the outside of the kettle where the lid overlaps the casing, on to the base and then our work top. Not great if you’re like me and you choose to empty / de-steam your kettle straight after use (as advised). I can only put this down to a design flaw rather than a manufacturing fault. Only a minor niggle but irritating nevertheless for such a well constructed and expensive kettle. Should be flawless!

We bought the red one and it looks fab! It really stands out against the black granite. The design is good, it pours well…and… it boils water! Who’d have thought it. A few reviews I read said the base looked cheap – I don’t think so. It is quite heavy when full, but it feels quality and I’m sure it would be criticised if it was light as being cheap! It has that chunky feel you associate with how their products look. Really pleased so far.

Quiet, fast boiling, well-made with quality lid mechanism. I bought this to replace my two year old Russell Hobbs, which started leaking badly from the level glass. Ok, this is expensive, but it’s so much better made. It’s well-sealed, so no steam escapes from the lid as it boils, as some others have reported.
Yes it’s reassuringly heavy, but you don’t need to be a weight-lifter to pick it up. It also looks great. Recommended if you can afford it.
Shame it wasn’t available for the one day delivery. Hope it works well as it’s a bit pricey.

If you want to boil water, there are cheaper ways to do it, but this kettle is a nice looking, well put-together piece of furniture / ornament too.

If I had to pick something out it would be that the chrome coloured handled and especially the base, look a bit plasticy. Great kettle though
UPDATE May2020; as the kettle boils, steam travels down the handle. Needed oven gloves to pick it up as hot steam coming out. If you wait for the steam to stop, the water is off the boil…not ideal for tea-making. Contacted the Seller who was brilliant and got it replaced. However, same happened again. The brilliant Seller replaced it yet again; couldn’t fault their CS in any way. However, the issue of steam down the handle is the same. I’m assuming therefore it’s a build issue. Have tried a hack by placing a bumper made of Sugru in the crease where the handle connects to the body of the kettle. Still a problem so will add another ‘bumper’ alongside the first to see if that helps. Wouldn’t want this model if you’ve got youngsters/elderly or you have arthritis or other disability. Shame…handsome kettle

Nice but vastly overpriced for the build quality.
A lovely shape and colour of course. The boiling time is fine, and the main chamber has a concealed element and is lined with stainless steel. However the lid is made from flimsy plastic. The base is made of black plastic which is trimmed with silver painted plastic and seems very flimsy. Mine was a customer return where the lid release had been fixed and it was one third of the price. Theres no way on earth I would have paid anywhere near the RRP, as the build quality is nowhere near good enough. I don’t know if the version with the 3d letters would be better quality.
