The most important thing is the sound quality is so good. I did not buy the very latest Sony headphones, as these were just a little cheaper, but still outstanding. Strongly recommend.
A solid 4 star produc
Like many I find the cabin noise of a plane very tiring. Therefore my primary requirement was noise cancellation. Encouraged by reading reviews I purchased a pair of the XM4’S. Naturally, I also considered the newer XM5 model. I dismissed these as unlike the XM4 they do not fold up for travel and cost significantly more. I should point out that a sale price on the day of 150 was the why I decided to go with the older model.
I like the overall design and have no problem fitting them to my larger than average head. The gesture controls for skipping tracks, altering volume and engaging pass thru together with better than expected software and the inclusion of a carry case are all good points for me.
To be clear if sound quality is your overriding requirement I strongly suspect a pair of none sound cancelling wired headphones would deliver a more rewarding experience but, as I said at the outset I required the NC function.
A small point being tired of the default black for headphones I chose the silver option which I found to be more of a dark cream colour. Glad I did.
In summary, for the price paid I am happy it would have been 5 stars if the sound scape was a little clearer but, no real complaints.
Great noise cancelling and great audio for music
Only downside is no aptx but small price to pay for the quality of the nose cancelling and the music. The music sounds real and you feel like you are at the venue. I had the Bose QC ultra and the music didn’t transport you. Swapped for these, nearly half the price and no regrets
If they say it’s new, it should look & perform as new!
Top quality! I brought and returned the same product from a reputable site claiming the product was new? It cost just 20 less than what I have bought from Amazon. It seemed the drivers were blown on the ones brought on the other site. It was clear they were not new from the packaging anyway. I returned them because they just didn’t work. Brought from Amazon: Brand spanking new! The plastic wrapping was still on the box. When I tell you the product performed right now the original packaging & box? It’s an understatement! I got more than my monies worth. Thank you Amazon, enough said.

Absolutely love these headphones! I enter my own world as soon as noise cancellation starts. Fit snug on the smallest band size, nice weight not too heavy, just don’t do backflips and cartwheels and expect them to stay on.. as any headphones, they’ll fall off. I say this bcs some people want to know if they fall off your head and compare the weight to the apple ones. These are easier to clean any sweat off, apple ones will absorb the sweat bcs of the material, super gross, don’t buy into the aesthetic!

good quality when using the equaliser’s pre-sets,however i do find the default flat equalisation a little bit weak, especially when listening to full orchestras. Generally the pre-sets need to be used for most genres and the result is really good but for the money i would expect better result without having to use equalisers…all other features are great, noise cancelling is excellent, best i ve heard 🙂 ,volume control is a tad sensitive. I m obviously nit-picking because of the price tag.
My husband bought a set of these headphones when they were a lot more expensive. I didn’t try them and thought he had wasted his money. However, he has started playing his Xbox on full volume and I was getting irritated by the noise so I tried his headphones and was so impressed that I immediately ordered my own pair. They were nearly 100 cheaper that when he bought his, so definitely value for money.
They have an amazing battery life. They connect well to my phone or my iPad and they sound fantastic, but best of all they shut out the Xbox and
his snoring. I have also discovered that I can answer my phone through them and it’s a very clear stable connection.
I can also connect to Alexa. Sadly they can’t mow lawns or do the washing up, but other than that they are an absolute Godsend

The best headphone’s I have ever had, the sound quality is impeccable. I will definitely never want any other headphones, as for this price they are the best in quality. The only problem I find is that they are a bit big for my head, other than that they are perfect.
Awesome headfones 10/10, no complaints
Bought as a gift for my eldest teen, and she’s over the moon with them. A good solid product, arrived with their own carry case, also very well made, as they should be for the price. As a kid with sensory issues, these have had so many added bonuses-less being overwhelmed out n about, she can choose to tap the ear casing to hear what’s going on around her when needed without removing them etc-absolute game changer. You can adjust the sound settings easily via her mobile and easy volume control via the headfones casing. Connects to her iPhone no problem everytime, days of use before needing a charge, exactly what she wanted, and a few months in there are no problems whatsoever…Other than constantly tapping her on the shoulder to get her attention when they’re in use. they’ve done exactly as described. Comfortable on the ears for long periods of time when needed. I’m actually jealous and want some myself, but can’t afford it yet. I was happy to spend this much on this product for her as she’s a great kid and looks after her belongings really well, and she’s in college now, so i see it as an investment in her for being awesome, i am not in the habit of buying expensive gadgets for these kids but when I do they have to have a real purpose and meet needs, not just wants. After numerous cheaper headfones made all the above mentioned claims and fell short or broke easily/quickly, i was done buying different sets of headfones multiple times a year. I couldn’t be more pleased with this product for her tbh, and have no regrets.
Best headphones I’ve ever purchased
The quality is incredible, the sound is great especially at the gym and whilst I study! They are so light and comfortable I can literally wear them all day, and the battery never seems to run out. Some more aids to using the app properly would be helpful. Wish I switched to these headphones earlier but I will never go back to my old brands!!!
Worth the upgrade
Mostly used low-mid range gaming headphones/headsets in the past, but after my previous pair broke, I decided to spend more on this headset as I spend 8+ hours a day at my computer for work, and wanted a comfortable and good sounding pair.
After adjusting the EQs out of the box (which is super easy to do), these are the best sounding headphones I have ever worn. Soooo worth it to me.
They’re also just super stylish and are really cute to pair with outfits when going outside 🙂
I do love them. The setup is easy and the app quite simple. I didn’t like their smell when just out of the box, but it goes away quick. The padding feels more plastic that the previous model, honestly the only noticeable difference by an average user is that this can connect on two devices at the same time and uses the app. Noise cancellation is almost the same, except I had to turn prediction on, because it kept turning the noise cancellation off when a train went by and that was when I actually needed it to be the stronges

Was looking for an upgrade and the sound on these headphones are phenomenal! The only complaint I have is that if you have long hair, the adjustable headband might get caught in it and pull your hair.
i’ve had these for a month or two now. i was very unsure at first – maybe because i’m not used to noise cancelling, it felt very claustrophobic. after time though, it’s a lot better. one con for me, is that it’s too big for my head even on the smallest tightest setting, so i occasionally have to adjust it. music quality is amazing, they’re really comfortable though
i think the app is quite useless, and the gestures are a little too sensitive imo. the sensor that pauses the music when you take them off is eh – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. connects quickly to my phone, battery lasts extremely long especially when taking into account how quickly it takes to charge to full battery.
overall – would i recommend? yeah absolutely

Excellent headphones
These headphones are excellent. While the sound is tuned for the consumer rather than professionalism, if you’re a commuter or work in a busy office, these are great. They also have one HUGE advantage over the XM5’s, these actually fold down! Being able to fold them down is fantastic and they’re still top tier in 2023.
My go-to headphones
These were my first noise cancelling headphones and they did not disappoint. I like my music, especially at the gym, with these I am able to isolate the music from the outside gym music as well as the chatter and clanging of weights. The battery life seems to be as advertised however I haven’t allowed them to get super low yet but do seem to have a long life and don’t drain when tuned off.
Overall I would recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a good set of headphones with noise cancellation and sound quality.

However, it does leak sound quite considerably so be aware that people around you would be able to hear what you’re listening to.
I find that it leaks sound even when on a lower volume (around 1/4 volume). This is if your surroundings are quiet.
Voice-chat in games not so good
Super sound and comfy. Great spatial audio and active noise cancellation. Lots of options in app like Speak-to-Chat. You can pair them with two devices including smart ones. 3.5mm jack. Stylish looks. Neat hard-shell case.
Comfortable on large heads, though you may find the super-soft padding a little hot.
What’s not so good I found, is the sound quality when using the mic in voice chat. It seems to default to a cheap sounding hands-free calling mode. A limitation of Bluetooth and Windows apparently.
There’s no aptX and they’re not shower proof.
Had these a couple of years now and I still use and indeed like them, but with another microphone when gaming.

Personally, I haven’t tried the noise cancelling feature, but so far, sound and battery life has been great! Also, the colour is so pretty!

For me these were a little pricey for a set of headphones however my daughter thinks they are amazing.The sound is great and she can cut out all noise around her.The battery life is very good and she thought she needed to charge them after using for sometime however when checking they were still at 50%.One happy daughte

Best headphones!!
I actually bought four different pairs of headphones, including the Apple AirPods Max, the Sony, M4, the Sony M5, and some Bose. These ones were the best by far. The sound just beats all other headphones and they’re super comfy as well. I do prefer the fit of the M5, but these M4 are pretty comfy too.

Star taken off only because it’s a bit fiddly with the touch control – e.g to skip tracks and change volume on the headphones. Case supplied is good. It has a net pocket on the outside.

Leaks sound when on the louder volumes
Very good headphones but I’ve never had the battery life actually last 20-30hrs like they claim to, definitely last longer than my old airpod pros

For the money that you pay and the way it looks it is a much better alternative to the XM5 and could cement the XM4 as the best ‘bang for your buck’ pair of headphones. The sound quality is mesmerizing and the noise canceling is good, blocks out all the noises that you would expect it to block and the noises that you do hear are just high pitched noises – something very hard to block. I completely recommend and whoever is reading this I hope you have a good day.
Simply superb
So , I searched the internet , just about every review recommended these headphones over some very stiff competition , not sure what to go for I took my time and tried out quite a few and decided for me these where by far the best within my price range , the sound is simply superb and so comfortable , bought boost 3 app to pair the spacial sound quality and could not believe the results , by far the best out there for the money , simply superb.
Control over your surroundings
I have had these headphones for a few weeks now, I have had past headphones ranging from the 5-120 ranges but never this expensive. All I can say is its worth it.
If you are looking for a noise cancelling headphones, these will exceed expectations. I have used these in the office, commuting and studying and I would 100% buy another pair if they happened to break
These headphones will allow you to ignore your surroundings even with a low volume of music, most sound will be un-noticeable. When wanting to concentrate these help keep your brain in a steady state and ultimately will help you ignore little distractions.
Fully worth the money, silver colour is great. If you’re unsure on the noise cancelling go to a John Lewis and just try them, as most stores have them on display.
First impressions are they are beautifully comfortable, and look and feel like a premium bit of kit. But the most important thing is the sound quality. Boy do they sound good. I can honestly say the sound better than any other headphones I have tried. The bass is powerful but controlled, and the top end is spectacular. Very impressed with overall sound quality. No, there not cheap, but if you want a pair of quality cordless headphones……… look no further! They come with a lead so you can use them wired if you would prefer. The noise cancelling is pretty damn good, the best I’ve heard to be honest, and I’ve listened to a lot. I also love the touch controlled on the R/hand earpiece. Double tap the right side earpiece and it pauses what your listening too. If whilst listening to something, someone talks to you, if you cover the right side with cupped hand, you can hear ambient noise, and mutes the music. If you start talking whilst listening, it also mutes the music automatically. Battery life is also very good. Absolutely amazing headphones, cannot recommend them highly enough. Fantastic buy. If you love your music, buy them. You won’t be disappointed. They come in a good strong carry case, which is nice. Best headphones I’ve ever owned. Superb on every front.

I purchased these as a replacement pair for a set of Bose Noise cancelling headphones I’ve had a for a year or so that had gotten a bit worn, they were at a similar price point, so I wasn’t expecting a great deal of difference in sound quality.
I’m not musical, but I love my music, anything from Einaudi to Sub Focus, Marley to Skrillex and (almost) everything in between.
Surprisingly, they are a big step up from my previous set, what these ‘Cans’ do for your ears is almost magical!
The noise cancelling is out of this world. There’s been quite a few times my wife’s has been shouting at me, only to then walk up and scare the life out of me ‘coz I couldn’t hear a thing she was saying.
The music processing is phenomenal, the base is low and wide, the highs crisp and clear. The battery life is great too. They’re sleek, light weight and very comfortable to wear, and I wear these daily, especially when I’m out walking the dogs, and I only have to charge them once a week.
Yes, they are expensive, but I’ve spent more on multiple cheaper sets that didn’t last as long or sound anywhere near as good because I didn’t think a set of Headphones for 200+ could possibly be worth that amount of money. Boy was I wrong!
I have no idea how Sony think they can improve on these with the newer 1000XM5’s, but I’m more than happy to keep these for the foreseeable, they really are a fantastic set of ear cans.
If you love your music and you can grab a set, do your ears a favour and do so asap, you won’t regret it.

I bought the headphones for my husband as a birthday present, he is very happy with them. The quality of the music is great, using and connecting with a smartphone is very quick and easy, you wear them lightly, your ears do not hurt. My husband joyfully recommends them.

Sony did a good job with XM4. A decent product. But they shifted balance to provide a best navigation / user experience at cost of simplicity and weight. Sony seems heavy cause of a lot of sensors and electronics

i use these headphones to study and to game and for both of those circumstances they are amazing. the sound quality is amazing (better than my old beats) and they sit so comfortably on my head and even if you’re studying looking down they won’t slip so easily off your head. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Great Noise Cancelling Headphones
I got these just before the new M5 was realised. I have to say, I am incredibly happy with the sound quality and comfort of these headphones. They are my perfect companion for working, noise cancellation works great. I like the fact these fold and fit snug in a case too. They feel light on your head and the battery life is ace. I previously owners a Bowers and Wilkson set and to say these are an improvement in every way. I don’t regret missing out on the M5 – very happy with these

Great headphones. Don’t expect a flat reproduction of the sound. Heavy metal sounds meaty, jazz is clear and allows finding nuances, and with the equaliser (I recommend lowering mids and bumping up bass and high a bit) you can get incredible sound quality

Brilliant but no charger plug
Absolutely love the headphones and quality of sound just wish I knew it didn’t have a charging plug just the lead, it is a birthday present and only found out once opened as a gift, if I knew I could have ordered one, also no Sony support through Amazon which is crazy annoying.
The sound is the best I have ever heard
I have been a HiFi music enthusiast all my life (I’m 73) and have tried many many headphones but at last I have found perfection. I’m comparing these to the 700 B&W P9 signature along with many others from ‘famous’ names and these outclass them all. The bass is tight and SOLID where it needs to be (Dance music) sub bass without the terrible mid bass muffle you get with other phones. The mid -hi mid and treble are simply outstanding. In fact these headphones are so good I’ve bought a 2nd pair for my studio where I play bass guitar. If you are in 2 minds whether to get these then don’t hesitate – you will not be disappointed.
Honest review
The sound quality of these cans are amazing. Love them and the silver ones are nice looking as a bonus.
However… You need to have patience when using them. It took me a while to get it to sync to phone calls. Apparently it cannot be connected to media and phone calls at the same time and you have to switch (and it’s in the settings on the phone). This I only found out when reviewing YouTube videos and googling the issue.
Also, the headphones do not appear in bluetooth available devices when switched on. I was on a plane and could not for the life of me connect them to my new tablet. It was only after I landed that I again, had to watch YouTube videos to see why. You have to press the “on” button for 10 seconds (quite literally) before any devices pick it up.
Another annoying feature is that it pauses your video if you start talking, which may be a good feature if someone is talking to you, HOWEVER, if you are watching a comedy show/movie and you laugh whilst wearing the headphones, it pauses the video as it assumes you are talking….
Other noise cancelling headphones are good. The sound quality of these are out of this world, BUT in my opinion, they are not user friendly, sadly. However once you have figured out the quirks, and don’t mind them pausing the video when you are singing along to the music video / laughing, then enjoy them.
Does everything I want them to
Firstly, let me say I am not an expert and indeed am a novice to headphones as a whole. So I have nothing to compare them to. Having said that I have no complaints. For me they are easy to operate, comfortable to wear and the quality is fine. I am very happy with the product.

Build quality is good, Very comfortable and battery life is so good. Only gripe i have is the touch controls are absolutely dogs**t, very annoying. Have a good amount of bass so if you’re not a fan of bass then maybe look elsewhere. Overall very happy with them.

Love these headphones but am sure the M2 had better noise cancelling,I can hear loud people which I don’t think I could on the older ones.
Despite that,love them.I forget they’re around my neck most of the time or on my head as they are so light.Fold up small enough to fit in my Jacket pocket.Have read some people complaining about the mic when on a call but i have had no issues myself,everything sounds clear and I am heard clearly too apparantly.
Great feature that music stops when you take them off,but doesn’t work all the time in my experience.Have had them connect to my laptop,tablet and phone with no issues.

Best money I ever spent – bought several pairs of cheap “noise cancelling” headphones throughout lockdown but they all ending up breaking from frequent use and definitely did not cancel the noise of my husband on work calls in the next room! These are fantastic – not only do they look good but they actually cancel out the noise of others. Will be using them for work when I return to the noisy shared office space as well. Battery life is great – used them straight out of the box and still going several weeks later so yet to charge them up. Also love the feature that lets me uconnect to both my phone and my work laptop at the same time so can flit between the two with ease. Get them now you won’t be disappointed!!
