Sharp
I use these around the garden to tidy up. I had some bamboo which was growing at such a rate I had to cut it back before it spread. These secateurs made short work of the bamboo.
Comfortable and good
They cut more than you might expect (if you are strong enough) – so I basically abuse them. I’ve worn out a couple due to this when cutting back laurel at the end of the season, so have had to buy replacements, but that’s my fault cutting 20mm or more.
Good value for money
To date this is the best I have ever used. Very sharp and easy to use for sprucing.
Spear and Jackson quality
Excellent quality secateurs. Have use them for cutting back bushes and branches up to 1 cm thick, which they do with ease. Super sharp but with a good safety locking catch for extra security. Sturdy quality, ergonomic and comfortable to hold. Should give many years of service. Very pleased.

Extremely Good Garden Secateu
Very good garden Secateur allowing you to cut through thin and thick branches and brambles with ease. The only negative I could levy is that the cutting section of the Secateur’s are very sharp – can cut yourself quite badly if misused and when not in use please activate the blade safety catch

Good pruning shears
only reason I have marked this down is that the locking mechanism occasionally slips on when you dont want it to. Other than that, its kept cutting efficiently after some recent heavy use!
Perfect gift for a gardene
I bought for a friend who loved these. They are a perfect size and excellent quality.

So glad I bought these. I have rheumatoid arthritis and find normal sized secateurs a little difficult to use. These are smaller and very sharp, so I could prune my roses quite easily.

A very nice, straightforward pair of bypass cut secateurs.
At just over 20cm in length, and with a blade length of 6cm, they should be a good fit for most hands. (Photo).
The body is made from a hard polycarbonate plastic, with a softer, blue cushioned rubber over moulding on the upper and lower handles.
In use, I’ve found them comfortable to hold, with no perceptible disadvantages to being left handed.
They lock, with a plastic sliding lock on the top. It works well, and is easy to slide on or off with the thumb of your holding hand.
They are tensioned by a steel coiled spring. The spring is kept in place by a mounting peg on either side.
It looks reasonably secure, but if it were to ‘pop’ out, replacing it would be very easy.
Behind the spring there is a small rubber post to give some cushioning when you squeeze the secateurs together.
Where these secateurs really excel, is in their sharpness. They are super sharp,
cutting through 25mm rose stems with ease. (Obviously, your strength will also determine the thickness of what you can comfortably cut.)
An occasional wipe down with a spot of WD40 or similar will help keep them in tip-top condition.
Overall, for the money, these are a very capable pair of bypass secateurs and with care, should last for many years.

These are fantastic. Not sure why other comments say they are too big. To me they are my normal standard size. Really sharp and very easy to use. Perfect for the pruning use to which they are intended. Robust, Lightweight and very comfortable. Very quick dispatch too. Very happy with my purchase experience. I highly recommend
Comfortable to hold
I had some of these secateurs before and they lasted years so when my current pair fell apart I decided to go back to Spear & Jackson. Just as I remembered they are sturdy, comfortable and easy to use.
Sharp pair of segurturs when you need them
I love my christmas present from my wife , it so nice to have sharp segurturs when i them to be ,i trimmed my plants straight away just to test them out and the plants needed trimming due to the frost we had , im very PLEASED WITH THEM.

Just what I was after, gets the job done, nice and easy to use, fits nicely in the hand, very pleased with the price and the quality.
Long life of good use
I purchased the same product nearly 20 years ago and was surprised when I found it still available. I had been very pleased with the old secateurs, which had become a little less sharp, but otherwise good over so many years. I have had other brands also during this time, that have not been as good, ending up stuck in drawers!
I buy these as my go to pruners. They fit my hands well and I can use them for longer periods than my more expensive but tougher pairs. The blade lock is also more practical from my point of view.
They are sharp and cut cleanly and in the hands of many people would probably have a long and happy life.
I am blessed with hands with a good strong grip, and a bad eye for judging thickness of things I am pruning. It is my own fault, but I can distort the blades so they are not so good at clean cutting. They are still useable but not quite as good after being twisted out of shape. It would be nice if they were slightly stronger.
So I have left them at 5 stars for normal people, but only 4 stars if you are a gorilla like me.
Best secateurs
Always buy S&J as they are by far the best and have had them for decades. Nice comfy grip and easy action especially as I have thumb tendonitis.

Absolutely delighted to be able to buy these Spear and Jackson secateurs again. My last pair is still going strong 20 years on, but when these arrived I realised it was about time I bought a second pair! Highly recommend, especially if your hands are on the small side.
I got these because I lost my long time favourites. I only have little hands and needed something I could easily grip. Although they are a little bigger than my other pair they are easy to use, now I have got used to the locking mechanism which works opposite to my other ones. The bright colour means they are easier to find when I forget where I put them.

These were a replacement for a previous pair that I bought in 2010. They had become blunt and loose but then I’d cut a lot of stuff and tend to cut branches larger than they are rated for by twisting to work the blades through. I was happy enough to buy the same again but maybe your last pair lasted for 20 years, in which case you’d think these were weedy.

These have had a summer’s hard use pruning shrubs and hedge in my garden and have worked perfectly. Other reviews mention that the catch to hold them closed is flimsy and falls off, but it was fine for me. Cutting privet woody stems up to 15mm dia was quite easy and did not put a strain on the secateurs. I am happy with the purchase.

I had been looking for a small pair of secateurs for some time to replace a pair of Wilkinson Sword ones I have had for years and could not find anything I liked. I took a chance and ordered these on line and they are almost perfect, comfortable, easy to carry in a pocket and sharp and will cut up to half inch twigs with ease, also they look to be well made and robust.
The only thing I have a problem with is the catch, it works in reverse of my previous ones and slides forward to release and is quite loose when open and I when it comes against the foliage I am working with the catch is pressed back and the secateurs lock up. I have to be careful to keep it back clear all the time when using them, but otherwise I am very pleased with them, especially as I was unable to find another pair of similar quality and feel anywhere.
They are generally very good. However, as reported elsewhere, one defect is the plastic clip mechanism which holds the secateurs closed. This can become detached and probably difficult to find in the ground. This happened to my 1st pair and although I was able to bodge up an alternative locking device I eventually lost them.
However, I was sufficiently impressed with their cutting ability that I bought a second pair. This time however, I put a very small blob of epoxy resin on the black plastic catch on each end of the small metal pin.
This has worked successfully for well over a year now and they have retained their sharpness over the period.
So, with this proviso, I would recommend them

Affilate e comode
Le lame sono davvero affilate e a distanza di qualche mese tagliano ancora ottimamente. Comoda l’impugnatura. Tagliano bene anche rametti di un certo spessore.

I recently purchased a new pair of these secateurs to replace a previous set.Considering how much they cost, they are excellently made and do an extremely good job.I have a large garden, and use secateurs almost every day. They are sharp enough for a nice clean cut if I am taking cuttings from softer material,and robust enough if I am pruning roses or other shrubs.
They fit nicely in my hand, and nicely in my back pocket when not in use. All in all fantastic value.
I have to add that I recently contacted the manufacturers concerning a replacement spring for an old set of secateurs, and was sent one free of charge a couple of days later. Fantastic customer service!
