Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI received and immediately set up my trainer today, 1/20/2021. From start to finish, unboxing to pedaling, 9 minutes. Assembly is a breeze. I glanced both a YouTube video and the enclosed setup manual. NOISE LEVEL, this seems to be the main issue in all the reviews I’ve read but rest easy everyone. The trainer is specifically set up for ROAD TIRES. I can only speak to that. While pedaling, I had a conversation, then I tried it with the tv on then with music and there is ABSOLUTELY NO issue with excessive noise. I CANNOT speak to MOUNTAIN BIKE tires, though I suspect they will be louder due to the tire treads. My rear tire DOES NOT have a quick release skewer but the product WILL WORK without it. The trainer is very sturdy and as this is an out of the box review, I will return in a few weeks to update. 5/5 thus far!

I spent much time reading reviews, doing general research and felt fluid was better than magnetic. I had reviews that called some fluid models noisy and my trainer is perfect. Just a hum and most definitely more quiet than my rower. It was not difficult to assemble. Any model will require you to pay attention and take it methodically. I had mine set-up and ready to read in 30 minutes – and that includes various adjustments to get it just right and stable.

I contemplated magnetic units that have tension control and since the gears play that role, no reason to think the control is important. it’s not. You can adjust general resistance where the roller makes contact with the tire and once you have just right – no reason to change it – use your gears.

If you like biking, whether as exercise or just for leisure – this is right for you. Spend you winter staying active.

Highly recommending this brand, model and fluid type of trainer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had a Sportneer mag trainer for a couple years. It finally gave up the ghost and the resistance wheel blew out. I decided to upgrade to the fluid trainer. It’s much better. More quiet, smoother and a realistic feel. The magnetic one can certainly get your heart rate up and do it’s job, but the fluid trainer is a much nicer experience.

The product comes well packaged. The directions for assembly are poor but the video on Amazon is helpful. There should be more info on how to sit the tire on roller but just let it touch. The noise level is low and the unit as a whole is a good buy for the money. It is a bit of a pain if you plan to remove the bike from the unit after every ride. I have had other trainers and this one provides a nice realistic outside ride.

This trainer was pretty much fully assembled, you just have to put the fluid wheel on. I have a road bike and I used my 25c training tire on it little to no sound really. i haven’t had any complaints even at 2 a.m. 200+km still feels sturdy even pedaling hard out of the saddle.

surprisingly sturdy, noise level is really low, tire has no treads so it helps. what my wife likes {it was a gift} is that she uses her bike shifter to change difficulty level,
also great that it comes with a front wheel holder.
i wouldnt hesitate to get anothe

I don’t get the reviews complaining of noise from this machine, it’s not noisy at all…. Setting it up was a task – the absolute WORST set of instructions for assembly EVER…. really really frustrating…..Once I got it figured it out, it is comfy and sturdy to ride

This was a good purchase for me. Easy to assemble and sturdy to ride. Just a bit noisy so I just turn the volume up on my TV. The only way this would have been better would have been a lower price in Canada. The US price is fantastic!

If you’ve never put a bike on a stand, as I had never before buying this item, the instructions included with this stand are confusing as heck. Once I figured out what I was supposed to do, though, the whole thing took less than a half hour to set up. Tools are included, but since they’re just those thin metal flat ones you might want your own wrenches handy anyway. The stand works well and is very quiet, which is a huge plus in our household. I’d recommend this unit.

Construction was very easy to put together. Was actually able to attach it without using the included quick release rod (no need to replace rod through back tire gears). It is noisier than I expected but I heard changing with and tread of the tires can lessen that so will be looking into smoother tires for indoor training. Definitely wish there was more resistance to feel more of a workout than just a cruise in the living room but if that’s what you’re looking for than I definitely recommend.

I bought this to do physio for my injured knee (acl). Really easy to put together. A bit awkward to store but it doesn’t take up much space in the summer when I don’t have my bike on it. It’s a bit loud but it’s not over bearing; with headphones I can’t hear it. When you adjust the tension on the rear wheel it allows you to increase/ decrease the resistance and you can make minor adjustments with your gears. For the price it’s a great little trainer.

I’m very impressed with this unit. This is my first trainer experience and I originally wanted a smart trainer but due to cost (4x time) and availability I choose this one.

Setup takes a few minutes. I purchased a special trainer tire which helps a lot with the noise. It’s sturdy and fun to ride.

I can see how having metrics like speed and distance can be beneficial for work outs and training but this is a great and cheap option for winter work outs.

Great trainer for a cheap price

If you have what is referred to now as a commuter bike, meaning one with skinny smooth tires, you will love this. If you have an MTB, the noise will rock your world. Excellent piece of equipment though, so if you have no neighbors and an awesome sound system, crank it up and pedal away baby! It does require that the back tire be a quick change according to my avid cycling ex-husband who put it together for me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was hesitant to try this thing but I’m glad I did. It is really easy to put together. It comes with an adapter for quick release axles but if your bike is a simple nut and bolt axle it will be even easier to get it up and running. There is a video on this listing that is simple to follow because there were no in instructions included in my package. I have my fixie on it with 700X28C size wheels with no problems. It performs very well and is very quiet just the low buzzing of the motor turning as you pedal. No movement whatsoever. The bike is completely stationary. A very sturdy base. If you want to adjust the resistance you can move the motor mechanism higher up to meet the wheel. Make sure your wheels are fully and firmly inflated to get the best workout and less noise. So glad I got this.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMaybe my expectations were skewed after reading some of the negative reviews that railed about the low quality of the instructions and assembly difficulty, so I was prepared for a horror show. But it took ~10 minutes to put it together and ride for the first time–maybe the instructions were updated.
It’s certainly not silent, but it’s quiet enough, and though I haven’t tried pushing the resistance near to maximum, the stand works. I now have an indoor bike for the winter made from this stand an a 20 year old commuter K2 beater that was hanging on the wall of the garage. I’ll update the scores after I’ve ridden for a few weeks.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhere I live the summers are dangerously hot, and the winters are too cold and snowy for biking (unless you have a fat bike). I use my road bike to get around, but more than that I use it for exercise. With this trainer I can get that exercise at any time of the day, with consistent and controllable difficulty, regardless of the weather or time of year, and I can do it without leaving the comfort of my own home. It’s the ideal way to bike for exercise, possibly only beat by fancy standalone exercise bikes that cost way more. The resistance mechanism is very cleverly designed – a spinning magnet turns an impeller inside of a chamber full of a fluid which provides resistance. The faster you bike, the more resistance you get. You can further control the difficultly by adjusting your bike’s gearing. I tend to use it at high gear, and I was worried that the trainer wouldn’t be able to provide sufficient resistance to simulate hill climbing. It can’t simulate steep hills, but it’s good for just about everything else, and I can attest to the fact that at my max gear ratio it provides plenty of resistance. The front wheel stand it comes with isn’t great, but it does the job. Mine arrived slightly damaged, which is why I’m dropping a star off the rating. Other than that I’ve got no complaints. It holds the bike well, and comes with a skewer to mount the bike. That said, I didn’t end up needing the skewer since the one I currently have for the back wheel (which is intentionally difficult to remove to avoid wheel theft) was compatible. The screws have guides that you can set on the first time, and that way you’ll know how far to screw them in, which makes it easy to attach/remove your bike from the trainer.

It was easy to setup, easy to attach your bike to and easy to remove your bike to hit the road. The faster you pedal, the higher the resistance without making any adjustments. Highly recommend and it’s much less expensive and smaller than a dedicated stationary bike.

I set up this stand yesterday and have only one workout, but results were very satisfactory. The assembly and setup instructions are not well written and not very good, but fortunately it is pretty easy to figure out on your own. The problem I encountered was the bike leaning to one side. The rear axle holding bolts need to be concentrically aligned to a pretty tight tolerance or the bike will lean to one side or the other. Mine wasn’t too bad, and I was able to fool around with the rear wheel alignment to get acceptable results. The stand is very stable and my ride was quiet. The resistance is very smooth and has a nice road feel. So far so good.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have never used one of these before, and I am not a professional cyclist, in fact I’m not even a recreational cyclist. So the first challenge here was setting this up. I can’t say it was hard, but much better with two people. You have to remove the rear quick-release skewer, and replace it with one they give you. Then you mount this to the bike. It worked well, and was relatively quiet, but the tire will make some noise, so it is not silent. The instruction sheet is poor, B&W pictures and not a great description. Overall it works well, BUT you can not adjust the resistance in any way. For a road bike, with higher gearing, and bigger wheel this is probably O.K. but with a mountain bike, resistance is not great. Yes you can use your highest great, say 18th, but still not lots of resistance. Yes, you can petal faster, but resistance is pretty weak. And this is from a complete non-athlete. If you are somewhat athletic, I would think again.

I had to play with it a little bit to get the adjustment screws balanced, but once I did so I had no problems with it. It is very well constructed and felt stable even at a full out sprint in high gear.
The included front wheel prop makes a huge difference in the feel when riding. My workout buddies who did not have a prop with their stands wanted one after trying mine.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI always wanted to have the possibility of riding a static bike at home.
I am a tennis player, belong to a sports club & ride bike off & on for fun for many years, the quarantine finally made me buy one. I have played tennis again but exercising at home it is been great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This piece of equipment came well in the box, very easy to assemble & in ten minutes ready to use, I lubricated & cleaned one of the three mountain bikes I have, picked the most comfortable for every day use, due to the wide treaded tires system is a bit nosier than a normal non-treaded. I’ve been using my static bike for the last month since I received for 1/2″ in gear 21 (3 & 7) & I tell you once I finish every work out, it is as comparable as my heavy workouts playing tennis or riding the bike outdoors or anything else. I would definitely recommend!!!!!!!!!!

I have been using my “Bike Trainer” now for approximately 2 weeks. It was easy to assemble & is very sturdy. I reside in Florida & we will be coming up on our rainy season, this is why I purchased the trainer so I could continue to ride.

It is set-up in my garage. Yes it is HOT & HUMID. I love the work out & ride. The trainer rides pretty close to being on the road. I am able to switch gears giving me the additional resistance I may desire. The only thing I found is my Cat Padrone does not record any activity since (wireles/mounted on front tire). I am in the process of ordering a second & will locate on my back tire as I want to know particular stats.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGiven current coronavirus times I’m not using my gym. While I enjoy walking in my neighborhood it’s not the same level of activity as an aerobic machine. Luckily I still had my bike and decided to purchase a trainer. I reach quite a few reviews and ultimately purchased this one. The instructions are bare bones but it’s not too challenging to put together. My bike doesn’t have a quick-release on the rear tire so that threw me for a little bit. The instructions want you to replace yours with theirs. After some on-line searching the consensus was that isn’t required. I hooked the trainer onto the rear tire nuts. I’ve been using for several weeks now without an issue. Plenty of reviews complain about the level of noise they make. I can’t compare to any other’s since this is the first I’ve used. But if you compare to other gym equipment in my experience it’s fine. It’s louder than the stairmaster or arc trainer but probably equal to a running on a treadmill. I play music on a usb speaker or wear head phones and it’s fine for me. If you are need of some additional home training this works and price is decent.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is my first bike trainer and while I was initially considering the magnetic kind I am so glad I researched and talked myself into the fluid model. Quiet, sturdy, and smooth. I have been using it regularly for two months now and could not be more impressed for the amount spent compared to other fluid trainers. There is an included assembly manual that while not the most straight forward, steps you through the set up. There really is no way to put this together wrong. With minimal pieces involved it really isn’t bad. I set my tension against the tire to my liking and am able to adjust the resistance by shifting gears. I typically work out in the middle front chain ring and work through about four gears in the rear to accomplish my workout. I’m impressed.

Okay, I’m not an incredible hulk kinda guy but getting the tension dial set to the proper resistance required pliers and leverage as it was too hard on the hands. The dial also felt cheap and I was waiting for it to break when increasing tension for adequate resistance (if/when it does break it can be replaced with something else, hopefully more functional and durable, as it’s a common thread).

That complaint aside the rest of it is very sturdy and easy to setup. It generates noise as much as any other fluid trainer (previous Kinetic owner here) when given enough resistance and rider input. Great price as well.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was excited when the trainer stand arrived. I found it was extremely easy to assemble, was very sturdy, and was easy to attach my bike. So far so good. Then I jumped on my bike, ready for my first workout, and I was surprised how noisy the trainer was. I thought I must have done something wrong in the setup, so I reread the instructions and made sure I had followed them completely. I had. I jumped back on and again was surprised how noisy the trainer was. One of the things that had sold me on the Sportneer Fluid Trainer Stand was their description of the trainer being “whisper quiet.” It wasn’t.

I reached out to Sportneer, expressing my displeasure at the noise, and Jasmine responded quickly with a few suggestions on how to reduce the noise level. They didn’t work. I got back in touch with Jasmine and she asked me to send a video showing the trainer in use so they could hear the noise level. I did. When Sportneer reviewed the video they determined to send me a new trainer stand. When it arrived I set it up, very easily again, and jumped on the bike to see if the new stand was any quieter. It was, but not a lot. I guess my idea of what “whisper quiet” means is not the same as Sportneer’s. Don’t get me wrong, the trainer is not so noisy that I fear for my hearing, it’s just not as quiet as I had imagined. I have used the trainer enough that I am now use to the sound.

The best part of all of this is how wonderful Sportneer has been in trying to solve my problem. Jasmine was always quick to respond to my emails and I could tell that the company truly wanted to make me happy with my purchase. For that reason I would highly recommend the Sportneer Fluid Trainer Stand!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersFirst off, the Chinglish assembly instructions are next to worthless. However, it is easy to figure out and setup for use.
It is a very sturdy unit. Good quality materials and quality assembly.
I am glad I got the fluid/oil based one for a little more money than the magnetic one. It is smooth and even running with almost no jerkiness.
Noise wise it is pretty good. It makes a pretty good whirring noise (at least with my touring tires) but not super noisy. I would estimate about half as loud as my treadmill. Putting a training tire on would probably quite it further.
The resistance adjustment seems to work well. I run the bike mostly on the middle ring, high gear. There is plenty more adjustment both on the bike and on the unit to make it way harder.
Overall, pretty pleased with it. Sometimes wish I had of sprung for one that could hook up to show you speed, distance, etc.. but they were a lot more money. This one is great value for what it is.

    A good traine

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s capable of 500W+ of resistance on a 52t front. Rubber feet have a bit of height adjustment, and it’s pretty sturdy overall. Packaging seems decent now as well. The flywheel is not perfectly balanced, giving a small vibration at speed but perfectly okay to live with. Noise isn’t too bad. The axle holder spreads wide enough for any axle realistically; I’m using a kenetic traxle for my 142×12 bike, with lots of room left on either side.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe mechanism itself is pretty quiet. I have my mountain bike hooked to it, and even the “road” tires make a good bit of noise. Not a big deal when I’m riding it with my head phones on, but slightly annoying to the rest of the house.

I have it set up in my man cave (a.k.a basement), so I can turn on my smart tv and play some scenery, sports, or run a stationary bike program… and all for less than 1% of the pelaton cost.

I wish I had gotten the model with the remote tensioner, but I can still cycle through gears and get similar resistance. I can at least mimic small rolling hills anyway.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI would have given this a 5 for it’s value, sturdiness, ease of assembly, and the feel of trainers costing hundreds more. Unfortunately, I live in an apartment and I immediately realized that there was no way I could mitigate the noise enough to not make my neighbors angry. A mat would not helped as the nose was enough to be heard by adjacent apartments. Much of this noise was from the tire and not the device. I have a hybrid with street tires and while a trainer tire might have helped, I don’t think there is anyway for a tire to be quiet when turning at a good speed. If you have a basement it would be a great machine. If you have an apartment then you have to get a stationary bike and deal with the bulk.

I was looking for some time for a fluid trainer but the prices were out of my reach. This particular trainer is less than half price than other brands fluid trainers. I was a bit weary at beginning thinking that actually is a magnetic trainer, because it’s price is in the same range. I was happy to find that it is actually a fluid trainer. Now I have to see how long it will last, so far so good. I am only a bit unhappy that the resistance is a bit too low on the maximum speed gear setting on my bike to actually use the thing for a workout. But overall yeah, this is half price of the competition.

Was easy to set up and seems relatively easy to use. However there are no instructions about how card the resistance we all needs to be against the tire. The resistance is very minimal. I do get a decent workout but I’m in my highest gear on my bike and can still pedal quite easily

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI debated buying this trainer versus those more expensive trainers on the market and have very glad that I settled on this!

Arrival time was quick. I was initially worried I’d spend loads of time assembling the product, but the Sportneer Fluid arrived almost fully assembled in a brown box. It was packaged very well to protect from damage in transit. Only five minutes to attach the resistance wheel to the stand (one bolt) and it was ready to go.

Everything you need to get going is in the box, the unit, the wheel block and the skewer. Easy-peasy replacing the skewer and hooking bike into the trainer stand.

It is a very sturdy piece of kit and the noise slightly louder than a low hum when exercising. To give you an idea, I was able to watch tele at mildly above normal volume for an hour while working out.

Dismounting the bike is as easy as mounting and the stand folds up neatly for under stairs storage.

If you are in the market for a fluid trainer, look no further. Safe a few quid. The Sportneer Fluid is a good purchase!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is my first indoor trainer and I didn’t know what to expect. My friend had one of the magnet trainers but I didn’t like the noise it produced which was a problem for me because I trained at night at the late hours.

The product took 10 mins to set up. It was only a bolt and an adjuster to screw in and to my my surprise they included 2 small wrenches. The actual operation was really quiet. And yes it true the resistance felt natural just like riding on the road but don’t get me wrong nothing compares to the real thing when your actually out there.

As for it’s durability only time will tell. Small attention to details it looks adequate but not overbuilt. But for it’s price it’s a great compromise between cheap low end and high end trainers. But for a cyclist who isn’t a professional it’s a great value.

It didn’t come with a bag as advertised. Overall pretty easy to set up though I am not sure what too tight is when adjusting resistance wheel. Could be a little sturdier on dismount but is fine during ride.

Seems very sturdy for my road bike, and smoother nicer mechanism than my old (cheapo) magnetic trainer. For reference, I put 1000+ miles on the road during our short NY summer, and ride in the basement a couple hours a week all winter.
Only had this a week. I’ll update if age reveals any useful info.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis was straight forward to set up. I am using it with a fat tire trail bike. It has a kickstand on rear axle that interfered with ease of set up. I removed the spring from the kickstand and the axle supports fit perfectly. They send an axle shaft of needed, for my situation I did not use it. This took 5 to 10 minutes to set up. I have ridden on it and it feels stable. Increased resistance through the handle mounted adjuster while in high gear on the bike and the resistance kicked my butt. Had to downshift to stay at max resistance. I like the inclusion of the front tire block.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI’m fairly new to cycling. I mostly ride on pavement, but I live on a dirt/gravel road which intersects with another dirt/gravel road I have to navigate before I can even get to the pavement, so I bought an off-road bike with 29″ wheels. For the last few months I’ve been enjoying the heck out of riding. I live in southern Arizona which has a Monsoon season in the summer, which is why I bought the trainer.

I unpacked the trainer, and the hardware was all there and of good quality. The instructions about how to assemble the thing? Bad to horrible. If it weren’t for YouTube and what I remembered seeing at the bike shop I may never have been able to get the bike attached to the stand. I was also a little worried that my off-road tires would not work with it, but they do with no problem. The actual use of the trainer has been interesting. It very well mimics actual riding, but with a lot more sweating because there’s no breeze. And—this is important if you have an off-road bike—the sound the rear tire makes while contacting the roller is EXTREMELY loud. My idea for training was to watch TV while doing it, which I can do as long as I’m wearing headphones with the volume turned way up. I also had to buy a fan!

Overall, though, I’m very satisfied and would buy it again.

    Good indoor traine

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have now been using the trainer for about three weeks. It is quieter than my wife’s resistance trainer and the fluid resistance is more that adequate for me. It was very easy to put together and set up and it feels very sturdy even when I am pushing the bike as hard as I can. When I first started using the unit I had concerns about the fluid levels and the amount of resistance as it was so different to the mechanical resistance trainer. Sportneer responded immediately to my concerns and sent out a replacement unit that arrived within the week.

Easy to assemble and very sturdy. A good amount of resistance to get in a good workout. Only complaint is my mountain bike tire is REALLY LOUD while using this trainer. It’s not a fault of the product it’s the type of tire you use. I’m going to buy an extra back rim with a trainer tire to fix this issue. Currently when I’m in the basement working out on it she can hear it upstairs and complains about how loud it is. Still, an excellent product at a good price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis trainer is quiet and stable, even on carpet. Resistance is good. Feels similar, but not the same as road riding. I’ve never ridden a stationary trainer that does. Like most stationary trainers, riding out of the saddle is awkward since the device won’t lean back and forth as a bike would on the road. Many people find trainers boring. Getting a good workout requires effort. With a little effort, a serious road racer or novice will get a pretty decent workout on this trainer. Others have posted issues pertaining to inadequate instructions, but there’s nothing complicated about the assembly. You’ll find better trainers, but it’s hard to beat this one for the price. Remember the immortal words of the Cannibal, Eddy Merckx, “ride lots”.

Bought this for rehab following ACL/menisci repair. Works great, easy to assemble (although the instructions are barely that). Only noise is from mountain bike tire on the roller and the geartrain. — hardly the fault of the machine.

I had an issue with the product but customer service took care of it immediately. I find it not so quiet but this is normal since it should be used with a trainer tire. The bigger the tire the noisier it will be but it is not because of the trainer stand. It’s because of the tire. I will make an update when I use it for a while. This said, I find it much more quiet than the other trainers. Thanks Sportneer for your great customer service.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersHaving read many other reviews I knew to expect the directions to be pretty bad. They weren’t. They were awful. It’s made in China and although the directions are in English, the photos are dark and very hard to see. There are no written instructions, but there are only a couple of moving parts.

You’ll need to leave this attached to your bike or you’ll end up having to take it off and put it back on every time you need to use it. That’s possible, but without a backup bike, it would be a real annoyance (to me, anyway.)

Those two things, however, are my only complaints. You can find a video of how to assemble the trainer by searching for the product by name. It’s not that hard, but it is frustrating if you can’t ‘see’ how it goes together. After slamming it hard for the horrible directions, don’t let that stop you from buying it if you need in an indoor trainer as this thing rocks!

I assembled it in about 30 minutes after trying to figure out how the two metal rods attached to the ‘motor’. Once I had it up and running, I put on my clipless bike shoes and got on. It was smooth and quiet and will be more than enough for the occasional indoor ride (I live in Florida so rain is the only thing that keeps me in the house.)
It’s quiet enough that I could easily carry on a conversation or watch a video at a fairly low volume while riding and not disturb anyone else.

I’d already ridden for the day when this contraption arrived, but I can tell it’s going to be more than adequate for those days when it rains and I just can’t get out and ride on the road. If I find any problems after putting it to the test, I’ll update my review. For now, I’m very happy with it.

I wouldn’t call it quiet, unfortunately. There is a kind of loud whirring noise–louder than I expected since I’ve had a couple bike trainers that were not fluid models. Other than that it is fine. Assembled fairly easily.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIt’s been a long time sense I had a magnetic trainer so I can’t really compare the fluid resistance trainer to what is available now in magnetic trainers. I can say, however, that the Sportneer Fluid Bike Trainer is smooth in applying resistance starting, maintaining speed, and coasting down. No humps or valleys in resistance during speed transitions. Want more resistance, shift up one or more gears on the bike. Want less, shift down. It was easy to put the trainer together and swap out the rear axle skewer to the one supplied with the trainer. My current bike is my first to have disk breaks but that was no problem, disk breaks do not require a different size. Everything I needed was in the kit, even two wrenches to snug up the bolt that holds the resistance unit in the frame of the trainer and the riser block to level the front wheel of the bike. There is some sound generated by the fluid resistance unit but not anywhere near the volume I remember coming from my old trainer. Overall, I am very happy with the Sportneer Fluid Bike Trainer and that helps me want to get on and ride.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersUpdate 3-17-19: Sportneer graciously offered to send me a replacement stand. The new stand does not make that whining noise, so at least it’s quiet when my husband rides now. But I don’t feel anymore resistance in the new one than the other. Maybe my expectations for a stand were too high, since I’ve never had one before. So I am updating my review from three to four stars, because my husband really likes being able to ride while watching tv, and now he can hear it too.

Original review: First, this thing is so loud I can hear it upstairs with my door closed. (he has it in the living room) It is ridiculous how loud it is, and it is a whining, annoying noise as well. Second, there is not much more resistance than riding your bike on a level paved surface. Ok for my husband, but too weak for me. We got this because living in the north, going outside in January can be literally dangerous to your health. We had a couple of weeks with temperatures below zero, and up to -50 with the wind chill. He prefers riding his bike because of his knees, so wants to keep this. I just hate the sound, and see a lot of headphone use in my future

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersFirst I tried this with my mountain bike and let me tell you it’s so noisy that even if you’re listening to music it’ll interfere with your music enjoyment. But I tried my wife’s Hybrid bike and it was much less noisy and tolerable. It turns out that the wider your tires and more grips (such as on a mountain bike) the louder it is. So now I use it on my wife’s bike but definitely wouldn’t recommend unless you have a hybrid or speed bike.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFor the price, I thought I would give it a try since most of the reviews were positive. A few other reviewers mentioned that the trainer arrived damaged. I thought by now this issue would be corrected, Not so. Mine was also damaged. Instructions images are very small requiring the buyer to seek help online. I wanted to keep this trainer, but never got a chance to try it as it was unacceptable to have a new product arrive damaged. I think it is true that you get what you pay for. I will spend the extra $$ and buy a reputable trainer!!!

Since I returned my damaged trainer, I was offered, and received a free replacement! Great customer service! This time it arrived in an additional box and was not damaged. Assembly was easy and now that I have had time to use it for a few weeks, I can say that I really like it. For me, someone who is in his late 50’s and out of shape, there is plenty of resistance. As other reviewers have stated, it may not be enough for someone who is in better shape. So far, it works great for me.

Golden Review Award: 61 From Our UsersI have 2 separate reviews to provide so this is tricky to write. First I’ll comment on the reason I didn’t give 5 stars. It’s only because the packaging was not secure and did not protect the product. We all assume that items can get banged around in shipment so they need to be packaged well. Unfortunately the box was very dented and since the parts inside were not secure and padded there was a broken piece. Therefore I received a damaged product. I need to note that the damage was not to the actual gear and mechanism but to one of the very thick and sturdy ( so how badly was this box dropped!), knob. We still put together the trainer and decided not to return it. Now onto what really would be a five star review had it not been damaged. I absolutely love it! It is smooth and while there is a bit of (whirring) sound it’s to be expected and does not disturb me or anyone else. We attached the trainer directly to my rear wheel (did not need to put the included rod through). I definitely feel I will be prepared to ride when the days get longer and Spring comes. I am not a “professional” rider but will ride 15 to 20 miles a day after work if possible when weather improves. To sum this up, I’m happy with the product, the ease of use and the fact I can adjust the tensioner and shift my gears and it takes up minimal space. I was very disappointed with the poor packaging. I actually have never received anything in such a damaged state ( and I’ve ordered a lot of items). I recommend this trainer for the quality and price. I hope they improve on packaging.

Update: the Seller immediately reached out to us, communicated and even sent new parts. They gave us a small refund as well. We really are happy with this product as we were and this worked out great. We’ve updated our rating.

Golden Review Award: 160 From Our UsersHaving ridden my old magnetic trainer a couple thousand miles, I decided it was time to get a new one. I never liked the jerkiness of the magnetic, so I decided to try this fluid model. I’m glad I did. It came fully assembled and packaged very securely. The tightening screws which hold it to my bike are big round knobs. That’s a plus. Some come with other shapes of knobs that can be pretty rough on the hands. It also came with its own front wheel block that is small but sufficient. On my first ride, I noticed very quickly that the resistance level is close to that which I experience outdoors on the road. I feel the most at home when I use the large front chainring and about midway on the back. On my 11 speed Shimano 105 groupset, this would translate to about 18th gear: pretty close to what I can handle on long-haul rides on the wind-swept, hilly backroads of the Midwest. The real bonus is that it is so stinking quiet! With my magnetic trainer, I had to listen to Pandora’s Classic Rock Workout station with earphones because the trainer itself made an ungodly amount of noise. Not so with Sportneer Fluid trainer! This thing is so quiet I can hear a fly fart at 50 paces while riding at 17 mph. And smooth? Oh yes. No herky jerky magnets here. I’d buy it again.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAlthough the pictures included in the instructions could be more carefully created to show placement of washers and curved nut that goes on the L-clamp, in relationship to what it’s threaded through, I think I got it. I didn’t fall over and seems secure. Works beautifully anyway! Smooth as glass and can run through all my gears and add extra resistance from rear bolt adjustment. Legs of the stand originally seemed a bit wobbly, but I now believe that to allow for adjustment in surface. If I had it to do over, I’d spring for a wider cup to hold the front tire, as the one included is a bit narrow and I think it was meant for slicks, not knobby mtn. bike tires. Not quiet, but can still carry on a normal level conversation with someone in the room. Most importantly so incredibly simple to remove and go for a real ride when the weather is nice!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis looks like a nice item. I have used it exactly once, and while I couldn’t say that’s sufficient to provide a review, it does seem to do what I want it to do, and it’s relatively uncomplicated.

One problem I had, that takes off a star: When I emptied the box, I couldn’t find a manual anywhere. I went on their site, nothing, no PDF version available (all manufacturers should do this if they care about their customers).

So after spending all that time figuring it out through “reverse engineering,” I put the bike in place, then unwrapped the chunky bit you put the front tire on, and *VOILA!* there was the missing manual. Sorry, but that’s NOT an obvious choice of a place to pack the instructions for assembly, wrapped up in a package with the part that goes on at the very last! Someone wasn’t thinking.

Anyway, I finally got it all up and operating. If I’ve done everything right, I hope the thing will give me a nice long term of service.

Set up: The instructions are difficult to follow if you have never set up a trainer before and are not completely familiar with the terms. It took me about 90 minutes to get it fully set up and I had to search for a YouTube video for part of it.

Golden Review Award: 141 From Our UsersI bought this trainer on a leap of faith given there were no reviews for this product. Here is my impression:

First thing’s first: I ride a cyclocross 700c aluminum frame bicycle. The trainer was tested with 700-28c Vittoria Rubino Pro road tires so your mileage may vary based on your configuration. I am an amateur distance rider who focuses on crushed limestone trails and wanted a trainer to stay in shape in the off season. I bought this model because the price was right and I wanted something quiet and my research suggested that fluid trainers, as a whole, are the quietest.

Pros: The trainer seems to be solidly built. It came well packed with everything I would think a rider would need to use the trainer with their bike. Everything went together without any fuss, but the directions were not good. More on that in a minute. Most importantly for me is the trainer is indeed very quiet. The only noise I get when using it is a hum coming from where the the tire and resistance wheel meet while pedaling. Now my tires are fairly quiet to begin with and inflated to 90psi so I would think knobby mountain bike or aggressive cyclocross tires would make more noise, but for me this trainer is perfect.

Cons: The directions. I initially struggled to attach the resistance unit to the frame of the trainer. The pictures are too small in my opinion and the directions, I feel, assumed the end user knew what they were doing based on prior experience. This is my first trainer so I have no background with how these things come together.

One other minor negative is the resistance wheel has a hole in it; I assume that is how it is attached to the unit as a whole. The problem is the hole is rough and could cut a particularly large tire. My road tires don’t get near it and it likely could be smoothed with sandpaper, but it is a quality control issue.

So overall I believe I got my money’s worth with this trainer. I haven’t used it much yet so I don’t know how it will hold up long term, but so far the unit has exceeded my expectations. I hope this review helps others who were considering this unit, but were leery given the lack of reviews.

    Happy riding!
