Targeted Surveillance at a Low Price
The setting options: The optical system, which swivels through 30° and tilts through 180°, allows for a precise adjustment of the detection zone. Additionally, the detection zone can be limited with the included lens covers.
The time setting and the twilight threshold are easily adjustable via rotary controls on the bottom of the sensor.
The corner wall mount is available as an accessory. The supply line can be surface or flush-mounted.

Well worth the extra money
I’ve used a number of cheaper PIRs which have failed after a short time. This time I decided to spend a little more money and I’m really pleased with the Steinel sensor. It’s very well made, easy to install and is working well, despite the horrendous weather we’ve had recently.
Steinel Motion Sensor.
Very pleased with this product. Purchased to replace a cheaper sensor recently bought from Amazon from another manufacturer. The latter was constantly illuminating the lights without any reason. This is working perfectly and was easy to adjust for range, The wires are non standard colours but easy to instal with reference to the instructions which are pictorial.

The sensor was easy to install and works well. The detection area is not quite as wide as the one it replaced, but is adequate. Like all sensors, it turns the lights on at random occasionally but no more than others.
I would recommend for operating an LED security light. Much better to have a separate sensor and light as the sensor is the most likely to fail.

Ordered postage free from Amazon market place seller The Electrical Showroom. Received, fitted and working perfectly within 24 hours. Simple to fit and install with comprehensive instructions, has fittings for rear or surface cable entry.

Easy to fit Motion senso
The sensor looks well made and was easy to fit, replacing a similar sensor. It was also easy to set the sensors controls to come on at darkening and the time it is on. The detection area is good where I am using it, above front door.
Highly recommended
Bought this to replace an existing sensor which had passed its sell by date. I looked long and hard before deciding on this item. I was not disappointed. It appears to be of good quality and was relatively easy to install. The swivel on the sensor allowed me to position the sensor exactly as I wanted and as a result it works perfectly. It is also very easy to adjust both for the duration of illumination as well as light sensitivity. I’d recommend this product.
Works well
The installation instructions took a while to decipher. Even so, although my installation was quite difficult, the motion sensor was a reasonably easy part of that. I am using it to turn on my porch light when someone, especially a delivery person, approaches my front door when it’s dark or getting dark.

Better than expected
I bought this to activate a couple of wall lights which originally had built-in PIR detectors which were playing up.
A couple of surprises. The detector has a much wider field of view than expected (180 rather than 120 degrees) which actually suits my application – I can barely stick my nose out of the back door without it triggering. The other bonus is that it is much less susceptible to triggering from the nearby boiler flue outlet, compared to the old PIRs.
Hopefully it will be more reliable as well.
Better than claimed
Easy to install & to adjust, I have used two of these , one to control 6 LED spotlights & the other controlling 9 of them [total wattage approx 18w & 27w].
Works OK
This was easy to fit to a brick wall, replacing a previous device. The adjustment controls are small and fiddly but work OK and the instructions are helpful. It’s by the front door and besides responding to people approaching the house it gets triggered by buses passing on the road 20m away.

Better than anticipated! Precision is good enough! Lot of thoughts put up in Default setting ! I did not change the default setting and still it’s working as expected! Very user friendly! Installed by myself with no hiccups whatsoever! I would recommend!
o replace a censor which had operated for 30 yrs. so I hope this one gives the same reliability. found the wiring was the same easy to install. the instructions are all pictures so it should be relatively easy for the layman. I did like the two outer flanges which keeps the censor away from the wall and gives room for the cable to feed into the plate. First night test showed it was working well feeding three lights in total of180 watts. recommended

Professional product, works a charm – detects motion over a wide area, fiddly to wire if your cables are side entry though like mine were.
Works ok but a pain to install...
Difficult to wire up due to its design. Would have been far more convenient if it was pre-wired ready to be connected to existing wiring. The motion sensor is quite slow, but otherwise, ok.

A satisfactory product. I have installed it within an open porch and so cannot comment on the waterproof aspect.

Good product does the job well and easy to install
I had endless problems with the much more expensive Steinel detector going off randomly. I replaced it with this cheaper version and it works much more reliably. Not as good quality as the expensive version but it still works fine.

Worked very well getting a good 15 metre range but was a bit difficult to adjust the little pots underneath once installed, up a ladder in my case. Surprisingly there are no slots for a screwdriver so you would be well advised to set the twilight and timer setting up how you want them before installing. Some reviewers have said the sensor filled with water so I suggest using some mastic to seal round the cable entry and screw holes as an additional precaution maybe they did not bother to do this.

I was looking for an external standalone PIR covering the approach to my house porch that controlled LED warm white spot lights GU types. This product is great, easy to fit, works with LED spot lights unlike some other PIR lights. It also allows wiring to an indoor separate light switch operated from my hall.

Small but important details not righ
Annoying white wall spacers which you have to paint black with an indelible black marker as the sensor is black otherwise it looks stupid.
The sensor is very good but Steinel need to sort out a better cable entry because currently it’s rubbish.
Certainly better than most other sensors on the market.
Bought this for the mother-in-law’s porch light… who just wanted it to “come on when it gets dark…” and then “stay on for a bit and then go out…” and “oh, but I don’t want it to come on during the day…”
This one looks good, is well made, was easy to connect, is easy to adjust… and in action, covered all the mother-in-law’s requests. It was a bit expensive compared to others available and time will tell with regards to durability and reliability… but so far, so good. Recommended.
One fault out of four...
I’m having to replace one of 4 which I have. There is a fault with the sensor making it trigger during daylight. The others thus far are fine and have been in for 2 years. I believe there is a 3 year warranty, but I inherited the sensors with the purchase of the house hence no proof of purchase. You can not control the sensitivity of the sensor so it triggers if the branches sway in front of it… This may be due to the fault. The one on a separate lighting circuit is fine, but has no foliage nearby. I do not know if sensitivity is ever controllable or only if all sensors are limited to light sensitivity. I have other Steinel products and they are of good quality.

Bought because a quality brand, clear instruction to install and set up, expensive, but cheap ones will not work for long. Does not pick up motion at the distance stated though, hence only 4* otherwise would be 5*. Going to remount to see if it makes a difference.

Reliability not yet known but I hope will be good as it is IP54 rated rather than the IP44 on most of its competitiors
you can see the quality in this product, compared to others a bit expensive works well, as an electrician the knockout holes for cabling actually knocked out rather than drilling them, would be nice to have a corner bracket available as well. Good
