Love it ..simple to use. fits perfectly in shoulder bag. I use it for traveling it light easy to clean worth the money. you can also use another pan at same time provided it’s suitable size
The first one of these we bought was 5 years ago. I probably paid 45 for it then, and it has paid for itself many times over. The only reason we had to replace it was because at some point the seal on the front got damaged by a large pan, and when a subsequent pan boiled over it got water inside. Even then, having ordered a replacement, we didn’t actually need to take it out of the box until a month or so later as it dried out and continued to work for a while.
If you’ve not yet made the jump to induction and are wondering whether it’s worth it, this little hob will show you how good it is. It may be a single hob, and comparatively cheap, but it does its job incredibly well and has converted me completely to induction, to the point that whenever we leave rented accommodation, a decent fitted induction hob will be at the heart of our new kitchen.
And if you’re just getting this for spare capacity, it’ll do that very well. We’ve taken ours on self-catering holidays to make sure we have at least one hob that will heat a pan of water in a sensible timeframe, as well as to family get togethers where it’s come in handy.
This is such great value for money. Our first saw daily use for 5 years. This one will see similar use until we finally manage to buy a home of our own, and I’m confident it’ll last another 5 years if needed. It’s fab.
We now use it when we go camping instead of a gas stove.
Auto cutoff, only the magcore under the pot gets hot – perfect for me.
At around 60 it is a bargain.
Not too heavy, easy to wipe clean and the buttons are press not touch in case you were wondering – nice action but obviously limited uses for a mechanical switch, probably be the first to go.
Cable about the right length.
I got mine at 10 off so bargain for waiting 3 weeks. Worth the full price I would say.
I would not recommend it for permanent use, without the pot on it can move a bit.
Although I bought it as a backup to and complement to a microwave, for most things I use this not the microwave.
Hob cooked tastes better than microwaved, at least when using a plain steel saucepan.
I bought an economy sandwich based steel saucepan set rated for induction – works fine on this.
Use for steaming veg, stirfry’s, porridge etc and an added bonus and it is so much quicker to cook now. Heats up instantly and cools down instantly. My breakfast porridge is done in a flash now!
Won’t be using my ceramic hob any more as this has been a game changer.
Had one for years so I know they are very good
Writing a review after using it for 3 years. Still working perfectly. Don’t have any negative thing to say about it except the noise, which we have to accept while cooking on induction. Everything else is just perfect. Wish I can get the double hob model in this.
This item One of the best things I needed was its high quality and it prepares food very quickly
Useful backup when having a new Kitchen Fitted as a temporary hotplate. Works as described
It is quick to boil the water.
I hope it could be fine for hotpo
The responsiveness of the heat is a million times better than my ancient electric hobs and comparable to gas.
It’s a “cheaper” unit though so it has two “issues” that were good to experience and learn of – but that haven’t impacted me too much yet:
1) The actual area that gets hot is smaller than that outer ring implies. Doesn’t matter for most things *unless* you want to brown meat – in which case only the smaller ring gets the direct heat and you’ll spot that as you try and fry things.
2) The lower heat settings are done via pulsing – just like a microwave; which means you can’t get a real simmer going on smaller volumes of food and instead it is on for a few seconds then off for a few seconds.
1 & 2 are not issues on more expensive hobs, but to be expected for something like this. And as long as you know, they’re not really much problem.
Hard to find a setting that gives a gentle heat, even the ‘milk’ setting, but for frying, or boiling water for pasta or the kettle, it’s great! Quite noisy fan. Light, and easy to clean.
Had to use this temporarily while kitchen was getting renovated. Fast heating and reliable. Would recommend
A great machine. I really like it. My cooker hob is almost redundant now. The temperature can be a bit tricky at first, but it’s not really been a problem since I’ve gotten used to how to work it better. A wee wipe cleans it no bother.
There is nothing I dislike about the design or its operation… except that this is a replacement for the one I owned previously – That one lasted only 7-months before it stopped working and caused me to request a new one. I’m hoping that this new one will last considerably longer.
Good
+ It handles a wide range of cooking pot sizes (10-26cm I think)
+ All of our heavy bottomed pans seem to work on it
+ The fan comes on all the time but is quieter than our extractor hood’s lowest and our microwave, so not that intrusive.
+ It heats pans fast, can boil a pot of water faster than our quick boil kettle
+ Has a wide range of power 300W – 2100W
+ Single flat ceramic / glass surface is easy to clean
+ Display and controls are clear/easy to read and operate
Less good
– In some lower power modes it slow pulses the energy and I can’t seem to get it to smoothly simmer
– Frying without burning has also been tricky, you can fry very slowly or fry hot, but we haven’t found a way to to fry so you can leave it without stirring
– The manual is really bad it doesn’t explain what the different modes actually do, the sticker on the box is clearer but still doesn’t give enough info
– The preset modes appear to do something with temperature but so far due to the poor manual we haven’t worked out how to use them
– When you turn it off the fan stays on for quite a while until it has cooled down
As a side note, the hob is a bit bigger in depth and general area than I was thinking. It is worth doing something to visualise the dimensions before you buy. It’s about the size of an
The pre-sets make reference to temperatures but I’m not sure if this means it monitors the temperature of the pan or it just controls the power and guesses.
This review is for the slim version which has 7 power modes, the non-slim has 9, requires 12 cm pans minimum, and only goes down to 450W rather than 300W. These last two are why we choise the slim.
Conclusion:
Seems reasonable build quality and fully functional. Specific temperatures are hard to maintain accurately which means you have to be more attentive while cooking. Very powerful for heating things quickly.
Note: So far I’ve found that for frying I get the pan hotter than I need it and then use the lower power modes to keep it “hot enough” to fry.
I noted several poor reviews that mentioned the unit automatically switches off, so I initially went away and spent a lot of time looking at alternatives. I don’t like unknown brands and, with budget in mind, ended up coming back to this again. I have to say that I am currently glad that I did.
I have experienced no problems with switching off, although I am using manual mode exclusively as I juggle different pans on the same hob. I found the timer easy to use and the instant heating is such a lovely thing – you will know what I mean if you have ever had to wait for the plates to heat up to temperature on an Aga. I can now cook a meal in about the same time that I used to using my previous gas range and the antiquated Aga hasn’t been switched on for several weeks as I have also expanded my use of the microwave and an air fryer.
If you are looking for something to replace use of an inefficient hob, this is a good option. I don’t know what the programmes are like because the manual option suits me best and I haven’t needed to try them out. But I like the swift heating up of pans and the ease of wiping the hob down afterwards and putting it back into its slimline box afterwards for storage. I am using it every day and don’t really know how I ever managed without it.
Update 20 Sep 22. I used a cast iron pan on setting 4 to cook a steak. It was perfect as the timing for medium/ well was exactly righ
I have an electric cooker which takes about 20 minutes to warm up, this is instant and I cam control the temperature. I have fried salmon and cooked soup. I love it.
Much much better than the old twin hob I was using before, heats up much quicker and to a much higher temperature, the only downside is some of my saucepans won’t work on it so I’m now replacing my old saucepans too
Use this at home now. By far cheaper than gas.
Brought it first the camper firs
Bought to use instead of the old solid electric ring hob. This is so efficient and fast as doesn’t takes ages to get to temperature then waste heat as it’s cooling down. Highly recommend
This Slim Induction Hob is marvellous, although I’ve had it only about 6 weeks.
Very efficient, boils water very fast compared to gas, probably electric too.
Far better temperature control than my old electric stove.
Looks so cool and slim, very easy to clean and store away (but I seem to use it every day!)
Bought as a temporary solution because Im getting a new gas cooker and have to decorate kitchen first, its just so easy to use. Can change settings anytime during cooking even when the timer has been set, this is also great when cooking pasta, making stock etc. Keep an eye on it when using a saucepan with a lid, as with any type of cooker, because it can take a short while (depending on the pot) to change temperature.
Nevertheless its very easy to wipe up spills.
I use a paper kitchen towel under the pan (use this to wipe up after so not to waste) as some of my old saucepans are not so clean on the bottom as they should be.
Obviously use with a pan that’s meant for induction, check with a magnet. I have what I thought was a stainless steel frying pan which is clearly only steel at the surface and the base must be mostly aluminium.
Works great with my iron skillet and casserole (even though they are apparently too big).
A little difficult to saut onions/mushrooms with because it will turn off for safety reasons when lifting the pan up for more than a few seconds (it comes back on again if not too long). So just stir or briskly move pan horizontally only. Just need to get used to it.
Haven’t tried it yet but as its so mobile it will be great to eat Chinese hotpots on a table with. Everyone can sit around chatting and eating away for hours and it will stay hot at the lowest setting.
Overall I’m really quite impressed with this, very versatile, efficient, safe, easy to clean and store.
When I ordered it I thought it was a little expensive, similar to the cost of a microwave oven, but now I think its worth every penny.
Perfect for people with small kitchens or that live alone, absolutely ideal for students I would think..
So far I’ve used this to cook Chilli, Curry, Ramen, Rice and pretty much everything I would use my gas stove for, and it’s done the job perfectly every time. Great way to save some space and make cooking easier with the different modes and the time
Have electric cooker with one failing plate, seemed a waste to change for that reason only.
Never tried induction hob before but this has been a good intro and pleased with it, very convenient anywhere you have about 15inch square work surface and a doddle to clean.
Don’t expect sophisticated consistent heat output, it’s easy to use and good for quick heating up or hotpot.
Used it mainly for heating up liquid quick but u do need to keep an eye on it.
We needed hobs that take big 26cn pans for our church kitchen . These are perfect. They are cheap to run , heat up brilliantly, have a timer if needed , and are so easy to clean. And they are portable and will go anywhere there is a plug. Well worth every penny
Easy to use and clean, it is so very useful for me during the renovation of the kitchen when we don’t have a cooker at the moment. Love i
We have used this single induction hob for a long time and it is a little gem. You do have to make sure you have the right kind of pots and pans but well worth the change. Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store away.
This is the second one of there I have owned, my son took the first one with him to uni and it never came back (he’s still using it 4 years later). Quick to warm-up and fast response to changes in temperature. Works with a good range of pan sizes and is relatively easy to clean, (there’s one little ridge across the front where I have to use a finger nail behind the cloth to get in). Timer function is useful feature too.
Nice well made induction hob which is very controllable and heats quickly when needed. We use this instead of the home electric cooker because its controllable instant heat and instant off just as good to cook on as a gas hob where as a normal electric ceramic hob is far less controllable. We had to buy new saucepans to work with an induction hob but its worth it for the great controllability these induction hobs provide. Hardly ever use the main cooker hob anymore!
Good as described. A high efficiency plate for hotpot warming.
No set up needed. Clean silent efficiency. No heat wasted.
Super little ‘add on’ to both the kitchen and campe
Impressed with the Tefal induction hob, it is easy to use and the heat output is great and easy to adjust when cooking. The only downside is not to use for any cooking technique where water may overflow (ie Poaching) as the water eventually gets into the product and it gives up the ghost. If you avoid water damage this will last you a long time and serve you well. Recommended.
It’s great! Induction, portable, plug in, and easy to clean. What more could I want?
I hve already said what I think of it, its good.
I like this because I can turn it right down for a slow simmer and go and watch the tv while it does its stuff. It responds quickly. I tend not to use the pre-sets but trust the manual setting. Easy to clean, just wipe down when cooled. This hob, like all of its type can scratch, but a hob protector soon sorts that out. I would always recommend this to anyone with limited kitchen space.
Excellent. Gets hot fast. I got it for camping but now use it for an extra ring at home. Comes in handy when BBQING. just remember you need induction pans!!!
Absolutely perfect. Heats-up very quickly, easy to clean. The machine itself stays cold all the way round. Only two small issues. One is that it kept beeping ALL THE TIME, but I took it appart and removed the speaker, so it’s nice and quiet now. The speaker looks like on the picture attached, I just ripped it out. The second is that if you want to boil eggs for example, you have to set it to at least third level for it to boil constantly. On the first and the second, it keeps pausing.
In the summary, I’m loving this little cooker, and would buy again.
Love everything about it, heats your quickly. Buy the best non stick induction pans you can then plain sailing
I love it. Its great, quick warm up, easy to use. Worth it to buy.
Wasn’t too sure prior to purchase, but this little hob has really been a winner, easy to use, easy to store. Great heat output, timer and easy to clean. What is not to like about it. Thoroughly impressed and exceedingly delighted.
Purchased this to dhelp decide if we wanted induction when we replace our old kitchen.
After using this for a while, we wil stick with induction.
I got the hob for someone else who was having their kitchen done, as you can guess the work took forever I they were left with just a micro-wave cooker. So I sent them the hob, it took up little space, they loved it. Can’t tell you any more, for the price it really was a good present to help someone ou
While waiting for a new kitchen we had been using a normal portable electric hob which we inherited. It took ages to warm up and cool down and was difficult to control the temperature. It broke and we bought the induction hob as a replacement. It’s better in every way. Heats up quickly, easy to control and cools down quickly. It has very similar properties to gas but it very easy to clean. Excellent purchase!
For the price it’s good value. Bought for camper whilst on sites to save on gas consumption and with an extension allows me to cook outside. Only flaw is low power is not that low. But then it’s 40 od quid compared to a grand for my stove at home so I’m not complaining and I’d still have bought it if I had tried it first as it will pay for itself very quickly. Easily stored too
I bought this as I am having a new kitchen and would be without a hob for a week or so, its perfect really easy to use and as I have a steamer no problem cooking different vegetables on 1 hob. This will also come in handy when entertaining where you need more than 3 or 4 rings fantastic buy.
I personally found it easy to use not intimidating. Just take your time and read the instructions for a few minutes.
What I love: light and compact size, easy to store; stylish design that blends with your worktop; responsive and easy to use touch controls. Reasonably quiet in operation ( all induction hobs require a fan for cooling); good length of cable.
Boils hot water as fast as a kettle- hence I’ve stopped using one.
Heat output and control are excellent, changes temperature almost instantly. Good for a wide variety of cooking: boiling, stews, stir-fry , deep fry , grilling, etc.
Please bear in mind that you need induction compatible post. Don’t be put off by complaints. All my pots are working, so definitely who has an issue needs to try different pots. The appliance is very good
Definitely recommend.
Brilliant val, great heat control. Easy to use outdoor but it is difficult to see the red display in bright conditions. I’m no cook but I’m learning fast with this high quality piece of kit at a low cost. Give it a try!!!!!
This has been great for us. We needed it for cooking while our kitchen was out of action and it’s excellent. Easy to use and very quick to heat.
This induction hob is just what I wanted. I live in a small place and there is not much room for anything bigger than an electric hob. It is very easy to clean, I try and keep mine clean after each cooking. It heats up really fast and although at first I almost burned the onion for choosing the wrong programme, I started to know it now and see how different foods need heat intensity and timing. I have used it every day since it arrived, so it needs to be used in order to get used to it. There is a beeping sound at the end of every programme and about the buzzing.. the first day I thought it is broken and I need to return it, but then I read the explanation and it does make sense – when it heats up there is this buzzing – I do not find it that disturbing now as I did in the first day and it is not a continuous buzz. Worth the money!
ps: the pan that I used is a HITECLIFE 26cm induction pan, perfect fit!
We had no gas for a few days, so I bought this induction hob. Very easy to use. You just need a pan that allows a magnet to stick to it. Cooks quickly. Heat is adjustable down to a simmer. Could take it anywhere with a mains socket.
Useful addition to our 13amp hob. Did not realise the built in hob which came with the new kitchen would not cope. This Tefal solved the issue.
There’s nothing to dislike here.
Temperature control is extensive, combined with the timers, manual control and ease of cleaning its the perfect companion off grid.
Easy to clean
Does not work with everything.. it Works with certain types of pots and saucepans.
It turns itself off when you leave it, which is annoying! It also is quite picky about which pans it likes, but thankfully I have some that suit. It does not work – flashes “E1” – if you try and trick it with an incompatible pan. But on the upside, it`s a very slim and convenient option for using if for whatever reason you are sans hob. It`s very quick to heat up and is very easy to clean, and frankly, it`s been a bit of a lifesaver recently. So it`s a high quality and attractive hob which as long as you`ve planned for it, will get you out of a jam.
Very easy to clean and is also very compact wish we had gone for the two ring versio
So far good, getting used to control, a bit more complicated than my last one
Fantastic piece of kit! Coming from a normal hob that took an age to cook things like over 1 hour for mince This product has been a dream never cooked so fast! good heat and options not used them all yet. But if you need a good hob choose this!
Very stylish and clean lines . worked fantastically well and so easy to use. This is a single Hob . Will be buying another in the near future.
Very happy with this lovely pan, very impressed. Easy clean, easy use.
Can be a little fierce when you are trying to simmer, but that is being picky.
An excellent product thoroughly recommend it.
I will use this when I have guests or family coming to dinner and need to use another pan but don’t have space for it on my full induction hob. It’s also very handy to have in an emergency should your full induction hob break down, which mine did recently! It just simply plugs into any electrical socket by your work top.
On December 19th, my Bosch hob broke down. It was still under guarantee but we had to wait for a repair. We managed a couple of days with a camping stove until this Tefal one arrived.
It was supposed to have 4 feet to fit but there were only 2 enclosed. I didn’t bother complaining and never considered returning it because I was desperate. I stood it on placemats on the Bosch hob.
I had read the reviews before ordering. I agree that it does brings a pan to the boil really quickly and doesn’t simmer very well. It is too hot. It is very easy to clean.
It would have been very difficult to manage without it.
My hob has now been repaired. It took very nearly 4 weeks.
I found the reviews I read very helpful. This Tefal hob was absolutely perfect for what I wanted. I highly recommend.
My induction hob went down on Christmas Day and the manufacturer was not able to repairs until back end of January. So I invested in this induction hob to take me through. Very impressed a handy backup item which when the weather gets warmer can be used outside or if you need an additional heat source for cooking, or as our son in law said camping holiday in the caravan, then you have a really useful tool
Very easy and intuitive to use and keep clean. I like the presets and the manual settings are very simple to use. Small enough to place where ever it`s needed but powerful enough to cook whatever you need.
Like the reviews said before me, the different levels of cooking is simply the hob switching itself for longer or less. This may be a problem for simmering but I have only used this for hotpots. For this, my only criticism is that it will switch itself off after some time.
I have only just boiled some water so I know it works. Looks smart and looking forward to using it.
My grouse is not about the appliance but about Amazon packing! It came with no outer packaging, just original box with a label on it. It wasn’t even film wrapped or the opening sealed!! God only knows how it arrived un damaged or marked. Usually Amazon put items in massive boxes with loads of paper so they go from one extreme to another.
This induction hob was very useful while we were having our kitchen redone. It has a good amount of control and can get nice and hot. The only con was that it didn’t seem to have much to offer at the lower end, i.e. it wasn’t possible to get a very gentle simmer.
