Ive used this all over europe in just about every city you can think of in a coach and hgv and its faultless as long as you set it up properly it should work great.Obviously you need to use common sense aswell.
I’d heard you get one year speed camera subscription with a new tomtom expert 7, however subscription ran out after one month of use.
A no non sense device that does the job well. just make sure the hotspot and Bluetooth are connected before you leave. also keep it synced as backup.
Good but sometimes sends you down some narrow roads on quicker routes, might end up in problems stick to the high roads. Some addresses are not on the Sat Nav after the first year you have to pay a subscription fee for speed camera alerts etc. Other than that ver good very bright and big, great piece of kit. Ps nothing in life is perfect.
Seems ok .has caught me out with bridge height. Even after i set my truck details
So I decided to upgrade my TomTom truck 6250 professional sat nav to the new TomTom truck sat nav go expert 7 inch HD screen only to find that the MyDrive app that I use daily in my job, does not work and I have asked 2 other work colleagues who are also using the new TomTom how also tell me it doesn’t work, so if you’re looking for a sat nav that the MyDrive app works on go for the 6250 and not the new one
I had the old TomTom 6200 before this, and I can say this is much faster and definitely better routing. A downside is you have to teather it to your phone for live services as there is no longer a built-in sim, apart from that I definitely recommend it.
The large screen makes it so good. It connects to the holder so easy. I picked where i wanted it and stuck it to the windscreen 1st time and it has never fallen off even in this minus 6 degree weather we have.
It connects to my mobile data which gives me live traffic which is really good. I have it set to make a noise when speed cameras and to tell you what the noice is so now it makes a noise and the voice tells you fixed camera ahead or noice and you are in a speed zone which is good, I then look at the Say Nav to find what the speed zone is and next to it, it tells you whatspeed you are going which ie really good.
I set it uo to my height, length and weight of truck and It has never taken me to low briges or over weak bridge. I now have complete trust in it. I set up the post code it lets you check your settings of truck press drive and off it goes
I have total trust in it to get me around the UK. It is maybe a little expensive but worth the money. If you buy on Amazon you can chose to pay it in 3 ammounts
FAB RAB
Have been using this for about a month and as a new driver, it’s been invaluable. Works the same as other Tom Tom products, so getting used to it was easy. The screen is massive, which helps orientation with the road ahead. The live updates don’t use too much data and are really useful. I did have issues with it avoiding the Dartford crossing, but a bit of time spent setting it up properly resolved this. So far so good. If I could get it to work as a phone hands free, it would be perfect. The newer truck does this anyway, so not a big problem. Expensive but worth it.
Really good truck sat nav. It is very accurate and easy to use out the box and is handy to updates without using a computer. However the live traffic feature using the app is lacking and says failed to sync when on the road. Apart from this downside it is highly recommended. Would say 4.5/5 stars overall
Works great, but I’ve had a issue with the suction cup, the other night at work while driving the satnav fell from the window, when I had chance to stop and sort it out I noticed he suction cup had come away from the arm. Ivr had to screw it back on but it doesn’t work anywhere as well as it used it. Some times takes me a few attempts to get it to stick after twisting it. Also the cup regularly comes away from the arm. I’ve tried to contact tomtom but no joy.
I bought this as an upgrade from 6250 Go Professional but unfortunately, even if it’s supposed to replace that model, it has a few cons that makes you change your mind.
1. It doesn’t have an internal sim for live traffic like its predecessor, it uses your mobile phone mobile data so you’ll need a permanent hotspot from your phone.
2. Unlike 6250, it doesn’t have a lifetime speed cameras, live traffic and other updates, after your initial subscription expires (1 year I think), you’ll have to pay something like 30/year subscription.
3. With 6250, is very easy if you want to add stops on your route in order to manipulate original routing or to find alternative routes, with this one I didn’t manage to discover how to do it, the actual navigating software it’s not as intuitive like the previous ones.
4. The routing didn’t seemed to be as good as 6250, this one takes weird decisions sometimes. It didn’t bring me on weight/height restrictions, but the choices is taking look poorer than on 6250.
So we are still waiting for a proper replacement for 6250, one to feel like an upgrade, not a downgrade.
I have traveled from UK to Croatia, Italy, Slovenia.
I had some issues with accuracy in Croatia as it was reading some roads as being 7,5 weight limi
Hi I recently brought a TomTom Expert 7 truck and bus sat nav off you. I’ve only used my new sat nav about 3 times but I’m having trouble with it charging. It seems the charging cable doesn’t sit in the cradle very tight and will suddenly stop charging and then shut down in the middle of a journey. Not sure if it’s the cable or the cradle that’s more faulty. Just wondering if you can help with the product you sold me. Regards Richard
Great piece of kit. Had a 12 year-old snooper before. This is so much better. Live updates are fantastic, very useful and accurate.
Had product for nearly a year now. Only stiched twice so far and had to reverse lorry where it has taken me the wrong way.
Get updates through WiFi but does need to be plugged in to do so.
Recommended the sav nav overall. I’m a Class 1 lorry driver.
great little device i use it every day all day. this is my third tomtom i found the magnetic mount makes it east to take off to add a new destination as soon as you learn the input format it is easy to use the only down side is that all the warnings for speed cameras distance/time notices and your speed are on a little bar down the side of the screen so very hard to read and harder to monitor when driving
Great Sat Nav, you pay for quality and that’s what you ge
As a heavy user of TomTom need to say that I’m very impressed.
The screen is much more responsive and brighter than previous models.
The calculation of the route Is at least 10 time faster and giving you 2 or 3 suggestions, depending on the settings you’ve being set /so be careful with this/
The new OS is much more smooth and readable, preparing you for your next turn in small window.
The battery is good, about 1.5/2hours from full charge, so better keep it connected during long drive.
My only issue was to connect with my phone/android/ took me about 2 hours fighting with it and I gave up. After reading some reviews I did it with no probs, so REMEMBER, before connecting it, just restart your phone and turn on your data through Bluetooth and the will connect within 5 secs/ probably phone issue/. Once connected become a beast. Really good peace of kit.
After having many many sat navs i was losing hope of ever finding one half descent, so after watching a youtube vid of a trucker who highly recommended this one i thought i would splash out and buy it, we have just come back from a 3 week holiday in France touring in a motorhome, this sat nav even knows the way out of service stations (if you have been to France on the tolls their service roads go on for some distance through woodland and all over an area where there is picnic tables and rest areas etc) I think on the whole trip it forgot to tell me to take a turn – but i am always looking at the screen anyway – its very fast, all my previous garmin models are slow, i get to a junction before sat nav does – not with this one, it has loads of features too, it has auto change over depending on what country your in from mph to kmh and the time too, the only thing i can score this down is that i wish it had a clock on the screen showing the actual time, apart from that its damn awesome !
I’ve been using this a few weeks now and so far it’s not got me lost or routed me the wrong way despite been over 65 feet long and 16’3” high. Very easy to use.
I bought this TomTom after having Top Garmin sat navs for years and I’ve got to say it’s a far better system for instance the traffic on my garmin was very poor road closed when it was open and traffic when it was clear to the point when I got this tomtom I ignored the traffic and got in to a 20 minute jam it did try and divert me but I was so used to the garmin being wrong I’ve had this Tom Tom now for 3 months and it is like a dream it’s as if they get there traffic data from google maps it’s that good only thing I don’t really like is u can not edit a route as such just add stops and it will go your way the speed of the system is also twice as fast as my garmin but the number one reason I wanted to do this review was for the traffic and road closures is superbly good when connected to my phone WiFi for live updates
easy to use clear indication & directions as I said in the head line door to door you cant ask any more than that
Mark
Had snooper s8000 before this and one or two other sat navs about the 200 pound mark, this satnav leaves them standing and in my opinion has to be up there with the best!had motorway signs telling me the road ahead is closed but tomtom says its open and so far tomtom has been correct everytime its more reliable and upto date than the actual matrix signs!don’t bother with cheaper satnavs if your thinking about the expert and can afford it then i reccomend it 100%,takes the thinking out of driving and is constantly updating and planning your route.best satnav ever.
I’ve been using this for over 7 months now and it’s never let me down (artic, different hieghts daily). As long as you can connect to mobile data for live traffic, you won’t end up in traffic either, if there’s a legal way around it, it will re route. Only downside is obviously its not cheap, also, not sure whether you can do this via the tomtom website, but there’s a few times it’s tried to take me around low bridges that I know have had the road dug out to increase the hieght, it would be handy if you could input this manually so it doesn’t happen the next time you pla0n that route.
One last thing, its no infallable, it’s a sat nav so don’t take for gospel it’s sending you the right way, you still need to check the route, no good trying to limbo under a bridge or getting craned out of a dead end and blaming the tomtom!
I could write a really poor review regarding TomTom not so much the product itself but support once an item is deemed out of warranty.
The Go Expert is a good bit of kit, my only criticism is you need a smartphone to tether too to get live traffic, that’s the thing I’m interested in. This then creates conflict with other Bluetooth devices you may have, hands free earpieces for example. If you need to speak with a person at TomTom forget it. A high end product with low end suppo
This is a great product in nearly every way but have one small issue, unable to find a solution to. why isn’t it showing some info on maps and to get a support answer or find email is very difficult and don’t even think about trying to find phone number for suppo
Like any tech, it has faults, but this is so far the best i have had. I did have tomtom before and it was rubbish, then a garmin not bad but not good enough. Then this one its great but not perfect so have improved going up in the world.
Uses mobile hotspot or wifi to update fantastic. I use wifi to update when i find places and hotspot for live traffic and updates which uses hardly any
The only glitch is that you need to use your mobile phone data for traffic updates this was not needed on the 6250 pro, and can in-cure a further cost. Not a good idea.. Tom Tom
The best sat nav I have ever used.
It’s fast with finding the new roads or faster road if there is traffic on yours.

I was really impressed with this Tom Tom Go during my first trip to Belgium, the routing was spot on and the instructions clear and easy to navigate
The screen is clear and the device is simple to use, all in all I would highly recommend it for the professional drive
Most of the time this does the job but I drive the same route from work every day and it tells me there is a 7.5 limit.
There is not but despite reporting it on Map share it never gets fixed.
Garmin gives you advance warning of speed limit changes and sharp bend.
Unfortunately this one doesn’t.
In hindsight I should have but the Garmi
It works fine nice screen is it any better than the 520 not really apart from a bigger screen . The problem I find is it needs to be connected to my phone WiFi and if you don’t have it no live traffic 520 only needed Bluetooth.
I never normally do reviews but feel I need to with this.
After reading some of the 1* reviews on here, I couldn’t help but laugh. You can really tell which drivers rely on this day in day out, as oppose to using it alongside your eyes and abit of common sense.
I’ve been using this daily for the last 4 months as an upgrade from my 6200. The Expert Go isn’t as reliable as the 6200/6250 which considering the price isn’t great. Still I haven’t had many issues, the traffic alert is still the best and most reliable out there. It thinks some routes have restrictions on which they do not and you can’t override them.
As a driving AID this does the job for and as I’ve said before, a satnav gets you to the area and Google maps will get you to the gate 😉
Great east to use
Nice size
Mount could be better for window and dash board
The device is very fast finding the new routes, connects to your Wi-Fi so you’re up to date with the traffic and delays. The speaker is really really loud which is good. 7 inch screen is big enough and looks massive, bigger isn’t necessary. I’ve never had an issue following it as a class 2 driver avoiding lower bridges. In my opinion it is worth it.
Hi all I have one dislike about this sat nav and that is it took on a detour last night 30/12/2021 due to a road been closed but it was taken me close to a restricted area for tonnage then warned me about before I entered my point is why did it take me that way only to warn me before entering. The good points I like about this sat nav is that you can update through your phone using your Bluetooth or WiFi data hotspots/it’s also touch screen/the processor is fast it will recognise upto 183 countries around the world/it indicates weight restrictions on the screen as you r driving down the road/and you can save your routes to its large memory/it has voice control/and the sound is loud so no more turning radio down so u can heard the commands.
Very good but does not show current time onscreen and it gives delays in street names on motorways not junctions wich would be bette
When pressing a button I hate it when you have to wait 5 seconds for it to respond, the old one did that, this one? Doesn’t.
It’s quick, you press? It responds straight away.
Rapid on all screens too.
Excellent.
At the bottom right of main screen you can access stuff with one press that used to take 4.
Cons:
They’ve taken the clock off the bottom right of the screen! WTF? That’s a pain.
And when you’re coming g off the motorway into multie lanes, it goes into a drug induced graphic that is kinda soft and hazy and is no feckin help at all.
Oh yes, and the colours, which you can’t change, ate not much good for us weakling colour blind wimps, waaay too pastelly colours, none of which stand out. I tell ya, u depend more time deciphering which way to go than I do on looking at the road, and THAT ain’t good.
Upgraded my truck sat nav.
Similar features and icons.
Clearer screen, more accurate driving position, improved on screen/navigation details.
Does the job fine, a few niggles with the software and unusual interface options (or lack there of) but its fast and apart from telling me i can turn around in less space than the vehicle length it’s fine. I miss the time on the route into bar and the access to options is way to big, the maps seem to be more accurate than on the 6250 that this replaced so thats a plus. Mostly it’s fast and a tomtom what more can i say
Essential tool for Work, Good value for money I would like more notification of whether I’m getting traffic amended roots or not. Good size screen, secure fitting.
Great device, opens up really quickly and so easy to work gets you where you want to be, if I had to complain about it, it would be that certain roads which it has as 7.5 ton limit “arnt” sometimes trys taking you not the quickest route
Apart from downloading all the updates, then just plug and play, it’s got me exactly where I needed to go bridge height and weight limit spot o
I’m an old fashioned paper map navigator but I have now been converted, on the whole this performed well but local knowledge on one of my deliveries save me twenty minutes as the unit was going to take me into town and around the houses but my local knowledge was done I eight minutes.
Unit could have current time and arrival time but only had arrival time. Zooming in on junction while on a route it stays zoomed in for too long for me
I’ve used this sat nav for about 2 months before writing this to try and give a fair review. I upgraded from the original tom tom trucker so was interested to see any significant improvements over the the previous model.
The display is more detailed being hd and the touch screen is more responsive with less lag. The best improvement by far though is the processing speed, typing a postcode or manually searching an address is so much quicker and it loads up 3 routes to choose from in seconds. Whilst driving if you want to find alternative routes it takes about 5-10 seconds to load up 3, rather than what felt like minutes on the old model. Live Traffic is accurate but needs connection to your phone via Bluetooth just remember to have your personal hotspot turned on in phone settings otherwise it wont connect.
Id say on average its been about +95% accurate in routing but there is that 5% or less where it can try to have you do strange things like go past a junction to come back on yourself for no apparent reason or thinks a road has a weight restriction when it doesn’t, so don’t rely completely on this device or any sat nav for that matter you should always plan your route and use common sense. Having said that its never took me to a low bridge.
The maps are clear and it zooms in on lane guidance if at times the lane guidance display can stay on too long. A nice feature is it displays weight or height restrictions on the map for roads that are coming up but they are quite small so its difficult to read. For some strange reason its doesn’t display the current time and I know I’ve got the time on the dash and tacho but I always used the sat nav for the time. So tom tom if your reading this make that an option on your next update as there is plenty of room on the route bar when its set on wide.
Do I recommend this sat nav and yes is the answer. I’ve given this 4 stars but it would have been 5 if it wasn’t so expensive. Its not perfect but I doubt any sat nav is but in my experience this is the best sat nav tom tom has released.
UPDATE, I’m not sure what’s happened but since an update there are too many times when this sat nav will route around main A roads to avoid a weight restrictions that are not there. few examples are A127 southed on sea, A168 Thirst , A40 to Whitchurch from M50 . Until these issues are sorted I’m changing to one star.
UPDATE 2- Tom Tom have mostly fixed the issues of weight restrictions with updates that apply to side roads which the sat nav thought were on the main A roads! so I have increased my review to 4 stars
Great voice directions easy touch screen.ideal for my job
Great product on the money all the time Tom Tom need to make a case big enough too get all the stuff in stand charger and cable plus sat nav safe
Loads better than my trucker 6000, super quick interface. Never fully trust a Tom Tom route though I always double check and now the map has restricted roads and bridges marked so it makes it easier. Overall very pleased.
This is an upgrade from 6250,yes a little pricey for it but I guess it’s worth it as my last one never did me any bad.
Considering its a upgrade I’m sure it’ll be absolutely fine.
It starts up really quick like it says and very clear mapping I had the 7inch which is great as you can see loads more the interface menu has changed some which I guess you’d expect…
Big day on Monday with it so let’s hope proof is in the pudding aka satnav…
Has already paid for itself and got me out of tight spot several times. Brilliant device
Seems better than the 6250, much faster and lane guidance is good.
