    I am writing in response to those who are having trouble with Wi-Fi connections with their Vaillant vSmart thermostat.

    Make sure that the Gateway/Hub is at least 1 Metre away from the boiler or any other bulky metal object, this will seriously impair the signal of both the router and the Gateway/hub exchanging information, I have a smart lamp in my downstairs hallway that has a similar problem, the router is upstairs just above the lamp, and the cure was to move my router 1 or 2 centimetres, that’s all it took, now everything is great.

    {Edit: I am not suggesting that you have to move your router as such, {it may well work} but as you are installing the Gateway /Hub, try that in different locations, such as a different facing wall or higher up the as examples}

    I have had my Vaillant vSmart Thermostat for over a year now, and I think it is a great device (not purchased from Amazon) and I use it in conjunction with 6 Meross radiator smart thermostats (purchased from Amazon, with 3 being purchased recently), which effectively Zone my rooms, last year I calculated that the vSmart and the 3 Meross radiator smart thermostats I had then were saving me at least 50 pence a day (I have a smart meter fitted, so can keep an eye on my usage), okay not in summer, but this year the combination will be saving me a bunch more of my money, so don’t just blame the device for the problems, try to adjust your environment to fit them in, its technology, not magic.

    I also agree with the sentiment about heating prediction feature, it did start the boiler up earlier and earlier each morning, although this may have been fixed by now as there has been a couple of app updates since I turn that function off.

    By the way, the vSmart works by adjusting the strength of the flame, a bit like on the cooking stove, simmering the water as opposed to boiling it, when used with heating prediction feature, (So that is why it will start the boiler early, to build the heat up gently, and that also worries some people, as the boiler runs for longer, but using less gas, again, simmering) I’m not sure about how I’m using it now with that function turned off, maybe not, but it’s still saving money, (I think I will turn it back on again, even I am getting something out of writing this, lol.)

    But all in all, I would recommend all the devices I have mentioned here, especially with the hike in fuel price and those to come, invest to save, if prices keep going as they are, you will be glad you did, I certainly am.

    My previous Vaillant wireless thermostat used to regularly disconnect from the boiler and then the room temperature could reach 30 degrees in the winter! I have had this new one now for about a year and my gas bill has reduced. Not too keen on the heating prediction feature – this turns the boiler on to ensure it warm when you get up in the morning, but it seems to come on much too early so turned that feature off. One MAJOR problem…I went away for an extended holiday during January and February this year so put the system into frost protection mode. My daughter with two children came to stay but the internet was down and so I couldn’t get the heating back on. I have since discovered that you can turn the boiler on from the gateway box but its not obvious. This same problem probably exists for all internet connected thermostats. Overall, I am very happy. The app produces a graph of the room temperature and energy used and its great to see how stable the room temperature is when the heating is on.

    Makes full use of modulating my Valli-ant boiler continuously rather than either switch on or off and has weather compensation so that start up heating times is noticeably different according to the weather outside. I also like that the gateway to the internet is built in to the controller connected to the Boiler which saves a port on the router. Was easy to invite others to install the vsmart app on their phones and the manual temperature on the in room thermostat is easy. Also like that the thermostat is wireless and does not need to be plugged into the mains so can be easily moved around. The eDisplay is also quite elegant (and a minimal power drain too which I imagine is the reason it does not need to be plugged into the mains power).

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks well with my Vaillant eco tec boiler. The thermostat is battery operated and can be either wall mounted or placed in a desktop holder. It’s a modern and clean looking unit and the app is very easy to use for programming your energy requirements. I have also set it up for use with Alexa and simply say “Alexa increase/decrease temperature by one degree”. Please note that programming using Vsmart requires access to a smart phone or tablet. Manual operation only supports increasing or decreasing the temperature. I recommend this product.
