Had a older version of vax carpet cleaner needed a upgrade… Glad we did it it’s a much better machine it’s nicer looking not as heavy and the suctions power is amazing did a deep clean and carpets fully dry within hours… Massive improvement on the last one which took pretty much a full day
Cleans brilliant and carpets dry quite quickly
Unfortunately first one sent tripped my electrics once plugged into mains. However got in touch with Amazon and a new one was sent and received day after. Plugged in and cleaned all carpets in my house. Brilliant and didn’t need ear plugs as I did with my old machine.

Our carpet is only three years old and we never wear shoes indoors , we have two small dogs, and vacume every day, so wasn’t expecting so much dirt to come out .

Ideal for pet owners
Brilliant machine, as a cat owner it’s a must. The first time I used it I was disappointed it hadn’t removed some stains. Completely my fault for not using any stain remover on the affected areas first which are included. After that the stains came out fine. We use the machine a few times a month and are still surprised at just how much dirt still comes out the carpets which are only around a year old and washed every 4-6 weeks.

It’s a bit difficult going to the edge of the room because every time you get to a wall, it has to be pulled away and immediately vacuums up any detergent that was just put down. I’m sure there is a better way of planning a clean, so that the thing doesn’t need to be pulled backwards at all.
It is not immediately obvious when the float valve triggers, except for a slight increase in the motor pitch. So you have to pay close attention to the sound and watch the float constantly. The thing is, it doesn’t just trip when the dirty tank is full, but also if there is a slight dip in the vacuum pressure, caused by raising the unit or a gap in the carpet. And when it trips, the power needs to be turned off completely which takes about 10 seconds for the motor to stop, then turned on again. It does this quite often which is a bit annoying.
There is literally no way in the world that a carpet can be ‘dry in as little as one hour’ though, as Vax claim on the box. We used it on rubber backed carpet tiles which are 4mm thick, on a really hot day, the cleaner was on quick clean mode and I went over it about six times to vacuum up the liquid. Still it took nearly a full day before it was dry enough to walk on. On these colder days it takes much longer to dry.

Mortified about this level of dirt, but highly recommend this. I have two dogs and a cream carpet, it’s looking brand new after going over with this.

after looking for a carpet cleaner for some time . having read the reviews i purchased this one .the cleaner has revitalized one bedroom carpet from our sons room with spilt drinks stains food stains and years off wear . the result was fantastic . have now done the stairs and living room carpet about 3 years old and blimey what a transformation. we have 2 cats and carpet is hoovered quite regular but this machine dealt with the hair really well did need to clean the brushes and water pick up a few times but really not a problem with this machine . did purchase some cleaner fluid for an other company so now all clean and smells fantastic .

Great for homes with pets or kids
After my last one started to smell really bad and then smoke.i wanted one wich would be alot more sturdy.work well with pet hair and be able to deep clean.definately reccomend for anyone who has pets as for the one before this it was the vax 149 one.

Very clean carpets
I think this machine is fantastic, I have 2 dogs and grandchildren running in and out. My carpets were really dirty but this machine is so easy to use and left my carpets clean and also merely damp so they were dry very quickly.
This carpet cleaner is exceptional and has bought back new life to not only our carpet but sofa and mattress as well.
Those that are saying it doesn’t work –
1. Make sure to thoroughly read the short but detailed instructions.
2. Do not treat this like a normal Hoover, this requires you to move at the pace or a sloth to get the best result.
3. Do not fill past the Max fill markers (this is where I’m assuming people have been getting leak issues from) those markers are there for a reason so make sure to pay attention when filling.
4. When attaching the hose make sure to turn it fully and hear the audible click and same with the tube attached to it as well
5. Clean the water waste collection tank thoroughly after use
6. Make sure you have thoroughly hovered the carpets before hand .. like I mean thoroughly as this cleaner isn’t a Hoover and is designed to suck up water and dirt particles not you kids logo
7. Accept that not every stain is going to disappear first time, while most stains that we have used this on have vanished the more deeper ones have lifted and are fainter but will require another go over once dry.
Like I said this carpet cleaner is worth the investment and can handle a full days use on multiple surfaces, just look after it and it will look after you.

No more smelly carpet it actually cleaned better than the other well known cleaner you hire and is much easier to use. I have a bad back but with this I was able to clean the complete area were as I had to rest in between with the hired one.

Fantastic!! Payed for my carpets to be cleaned professionally six months ago wasn’t 100% happy but with 4 dogs it was pretty bad

Best thing i brought for a long time , gets the carpets looking like new , affordable and I would say as good as having it professionally done .
The float valve is a pain in the neck
What I like is the results they are very good. What I don’t like is the float valve that is supposed to kick in when the dirty water tank is full seems to shut at the drop of a hat and each time the machine stops working. Turn it off, the float drops and it will work again for a while.
No words will ever be enough to describe how great this carpet cleaner is. I’ve had other cat cleaners but this is by far the best. It sucks your carpets clean and is great for getting stubborn dirt out. I have even used it for my car as dogs left stubborn much and it was fantastic. It’s so easy to assemble, clean and use. Can’t recommend enough!

Once we emptied it out the true horror of the stained carpet was revealed. Apparently a full tub of bbq sauce was stood on and trampled in plus other god knows what stains. I gave it a good few hours of using the VAX machine and I am truly gobsmacked at how well it’s done. You have to work at it but its brilliant. The carpet is stain free and the bounce in the pile has come back. Get it bough

This is because my 7 year old carpet which has never been washed wasn’t only looking dark in patches, the pile was also flattened out. I cleaned it by the book when I first got it, but was less than satisfied. It was still a bit dirty and the pile in the carpet was more noticeably worn in places. Wiggling it side to side with a second go the next day brought it back to life. I also made the water a bit hotter (have to be careful it doesn’t approach boiling or it will damage it). And going over everywhere again with it on the rinse cycle may have helped.
Not only has the colour returned after this, but the pile is much better. It might be the hard side brushes dragging over it sideways that helped get the solution into the pile, I will certainly use this technique from now on. as my carpet is like new.
On the downside, the solution is expensive as it doesn’t last long. It’s also not good at removing stains at all, and seems to struggle on long pile carpets such as my bedroom. It didn’t want to pick up the solution and dry it out in places and I had to push the whole thing into the carpet while dragging it across it.
Also, the spinscrub brush works well on things like a fabric sofa, but takes some work. Probably not as much as manual brushing though.
In all, it’s a pleasure to use being that everything is perfectly made for disassembly and cleaning real quick & easy.

Great Cleane
We purchased this to replace an older model which had had its day. Love this machine. It’s very easy to use and does a great job. Have used it throughout the house and stairs. With two dogs it has done a really good job of cleaning and freshening the carpets. I would thoroughly recommend this
Works well, shocking how much dirt it pulls into the waste bucket. One improvement would be to make the waste bucket easier to clean. There are areas within the waste bucket you just can’t get to.

I bought this for my old house and then we moved. The new house was professionally cleaned and carpets shampooed. This picked up even more dirt than the professional cleaner did.
I’ve owned many carpet cleaners / washers of different brands over the years, having a Labrador it goes with the territory ! This is the absolute best cleaner to date, the suction on this machine is incredible, it truly leaves the carpets super clean & fairly dry to the touch, the horizontal rotating brushes is also very innovative and works far better than the usual roller brushes, one thing I have noticed is the dirty water tanks shut off float, if you notice a reduction in pure sucking power then check the float hasn’t shot to the top, the dirty water tank may still be half empty but a sudden movement / jolt whilst the machine is running can cause the float to rise, to rectify, turn the machine off and tap above the float (on top of the tank) you should see the blue float drop and your good to go again. The machine is quite heavy, more so when it’s running and on full suction, it really does pull into the carpets which makes the machine quite heavy to manoeuvre, but having said this it needs to be weighty to ensure good contact / weight placement to get the water out of your carpet (swings and roundabouts) Great machine if you want to thoroughly clean your carpets…. well done VAX.

Disappointingly heavy in use to the extent my wife refuses to use it. That being said It is very effective at its job and I would recommend for anyone with a large amount of carpets (we have a B&B).

I used it on the quick dry clean and it was fantastic,’ I have 4 dogs who sometimes get in the lounge when they shouldn’t and this quick clean was just what I needed. Love it , totally recommend it.
Hey, i really disappointed about the product, there was Manufacturers error that the lower of fresh water tank was leaking and dropping from under tank, then I discovered the Manufacturers error As show in the pic, I shipped to my country wish far away from UK, and its so hard to send it back. I saw video on YouTube and i like it product , but looks am unlucky guy .

I like everything about this machine. I had an old “orange” Vax which was quite old and cumbersome and heavy for me to lift so decided to update. The new model is much lighter than the old model to move around and much easier to use with lift off containers. I live in a farmhouse and have two dogs so lots of dirt coming in. I washed the dining room, lounge and hall carpets – quite an area to cover and so much grit and muck came out with this machine! The carpets look completely different. Carpets dry quickly too. You do need a fair amount of shampoo but well worth it. I would recommend this Vax carpet washer.
King of the cleaners
Well I had this in my watch list for nearly a year and then in Black Friday sale one came up at a good price.
Wish I’d brought it sooner !!
Yes it’s heavy IF you lift it but what do you expect, it’s full of water !!
My only thing is the stairs pipe isn’t long enough to leave cleaner at bottom and do them also you need to talk it up stairs to do the remaining.
Would highly recommend what a great product.

Seems to be good, works well
Would be useful to have a window cleaning attachment. Not used the carpet cleaning yet (wait till spring) good to clean up spills and puddles from leaking conservatory roof. Its a noisy , May update the in the springtime
Excellent carpet cleaner and well worth the money. Easy to use and clean. You just need a suitable large space to store this unit as it’s quite large. Does it work? HELL YES! I was totally shocked at the amount of filth that came out of the carpets. And the difference once cleaned is stunning. A very worthwhile investment. Just don’t tell anyone you have it as everyone will want to borrow it!
Works as it should
Took a couple of washes over stained areas, but cleaned a cream carpet well,
couldnt believe the dirt it sucked out,

Only slight downside is it is quite heave to push
Did a great job on some old, very stained cream coloured carpets, however is quite heavy when fully loaded with water and solution. Although it comes with some cleaning solution, and some pre and post treat, it’s not a lot so get some more when you purchase.

Overall a fantastic machine. Great suction, cleaning power and drying time. They’ve also resolved the fluff issue within the waste tank and the brushes hold less than previous models which was an issue to clean. I have a professional machine for my business but I love this for my home. 2 dogs and a cat makes for mess!! I LOVE the crevice tool in particular. Right up to skirting boards and around pipes. Great!! .Those pesky missed edges are no more. Well done VAX!!
Vax carpet cleane
Really happy and surprised with how easy this is to set up and how well it cleans. I did a deep clean so it didn’t dry within 45 mins it took about 1.5 days. But overall am really happy
Easy to use and efficie
My experience was much the same as the majority. Easy to assemble, sturdy but still light to push around. Has done a great job on the carpets I’ve cleaned so far. Not yet tried it on upholstery. Very pleased with it.

So, we decided to take the plunge and get a machine of our own. After much research, I decided to on the Vax Rapid Power Plus.
This machine is incredible. Extremely easy to assemble and set up, we were off and running just a few minutes after unpacking. Filling the machine is easy via the detachable water tank and the separete compartment takes the cleaning solution. Dirty water is held in the lower tank which is easily detached for pouring away.
The cleaning power of this machine is amazing. The water that came up was black with dirt. All water compartments are see through, so it makes it easy to see where more suction is required to pull the water up, and also whether re-washing is needed. Afterwards, our carpets feel and smell so much better!
I am genuinely impressed – if these results had been achieved by a professional carpet cleaning company, I would have been very satisfied. So to get them from a consumer machine is incredible.

great value for money
his is my second carpet washer and i dont think there will be a third as this is such a good all rounder, easy to clean, big compartments for the solution and water, and especially like how the solution is automatic , makes life easier, the cord could of been a little longer.
Easy to use
Absolutely brilliant carpet cleaner. It’s easy to assemble and so easy to use. At first I thought it was a bit plasticky but it’s a tough little machine and gets my large cream rug really clean. I have 2 rather large dogs so I use it quite regular and it takes less than an hour for the carpet to dry. Would definitely recommend it.

I started with the lounge as this was reasonably clean. I filled up with water. It has to be max temp of 40 deg – sort of new baby bath water temp. I put my meat thermometer in the first time but haven’t since. The water cools down as you use the machine anyway. I turned the dials to quick clean and wash and I was ready. I soon got the knack of squeezing the trigger on the up stroke and releasing as I pulled towards me. I did half the room the turned the dial to rinse and went over it again. Then I went over it again without squeezing the trigger to suck up a bit more water. I moved the furniture (that couldn’t be moved out) over to that half and did the same to the rest. I used the hose and crevice tool to do under radiators etc. It took about 1 hr to dry. Very pleased.
When I did the hallway and dining room I felt a lot more blas about it and chose deep clean on some parts that were ‘walkways’ and turned to quick clean for other parts. I particularly concentrated on just sucking up water on the deep clean sections and all parts were dry in about 1 hr.
And … before putting away I did clean the brushes (no too hard to do) and give the water containers a clean/dry.
I am so happy with the results I am being very dull and making everyone who visits admire the carpets/new machine.

Very simple to assemble. Quite light to use. The hand held piece can be used easily on stairs etc. Takes about 2-3 hours for carpets to dry completely but leaves them good as new. The solution supplied with this item did not give good results so we used another product which showed brilliant cleaning.
We have 2 dogs and I’m always worried that when people visit the house the carpets may smell or be dirty even though they are regularly hoovered and sprayed so bought the Vax Rapid Power Plus Carpet Washer, we started with the hallway as this is where the dogs tend to lie and also the heavy usage from family walking in and out of the house and it worked a treat, removing all the dirt and one small but very stubborn stain with ease leaving the carpet looking like new and smelling fresh, we have since done the dining room carpet with the same results, excellent bit of kit.
Very impressed with the rapid vax machine
I had new carpets 4 years ago, and I live on a far., my carpets were filthy and stained, I had used a rental one before but didn’t do a very good job, not like the rapid vax, I can’t stress enough how impressed I am with it, my carpets are like new. Did a great job.
Brilliantly clean!
Excellent results on a soiled carpet from cats and a parrot and general soul from shoes (naughty I know) Easy to use, not too heavy. Buy with confidence.
Our motorhome had a really dirty (cream) carpet in a heavily used area, and the Vax brought it up like new. My only criticism is that it’s quite heavy when ‘fully loaded’ and difficult to move around in tight spaces – but that would be the same for all washers, I imagine.
Very good machine, but very heavy. If I’d realised how heavy it was i might have bought a different model. However it works very well. Be aware that if you don’t use vax own brand carpet shampoo it could invalidate the guarantee.
Works a treat and carpets came up clean and with a bounce back in them. It is easy to use although it does take a bit of “manpower” to stear it around and is fairly noisy but does the job.
Easy to assemble but takes a while to clean it properly as it does pick up a small amount of pile along with the dirt and needs to be properly cleaned before putting away only to be expected.

Does an ok job but not the great cleaner I was hoping it would be. Also has a limited time before it decides to take a break… but that’s my experience of it. Wish I’d got the platinum one but it wasn’t on amazon and I liked the idea of this one having facilities to clean furniture which I’ve not tried ye
Amazing cleaning
Used this to clean both the car and the house. All of which so much cleaner afterwards! So much cleaner carpets afterwards even though we have the house cleaned on a weekly basis on top of our usual cleaning.
Some stains that have been on carpets for ages are now gone, despite previous scrubbing by hand. See the photos, they speak for themselves!
Easy to set up and reads to go in 5 minutes. Just brilliant.

Wow this cleaner is brilliant I’ve previously had a Bissell cleaner which broke so I was looking for a replacement I’m glad I chose this. It was delivered the next day, really easy to put together, you get a handy tool bag with various tools and sample bottles. I decided to clean my pink and cream suite first which I didn’t think was that bad, how I was wrong the colour of the water in the photo shows how bad it was. Next I cleaned my carpet, wow what a difference I have a silver thread in my grey carpet which had disappeared but the cleaner has brought my carpet back to life and I can clearly see the silver thread again. It’s easy to push with a strong suction and much easier to clean than the bissell. Would definitely recommend this 5*

Very easy to use, i really like the self mixing part of the system and so easy to take apart to clean, it is also really nice to have a rinse function to be able to get up all of the left over residue, and it really gets the job done to couldn’t believe how much dirt i got out of just one room, worth the money, would recommend this cleane

Amazing- have used this twice so far – carpets are so much cleaner- I have 2 large dogs and it is shocking how much dirt and sand this picks up. Very impressed and wish I had bought one years ago.

Until you use a carpet cleaner you will never realise just how dirty your clean carpet actually can be!
In the box you get:
– The cleaning machine
– A bag of attachments and treatment sprays
– Instruction booklet
First of all you need to attach the handle to the body of the machine. This is easy as the two screws are supplied. Make sure you screw them in tightly as the handle has to support the machine when tilted for use.
You then clip in the water units – one for the clean water and the other for the dirty water at the bottom.
You will notice near the bottom of the machine there is the space to attach the hose etc.
To start, you need to add some water and shampoo to the top unit. Use a just to do this if you like. Clip it all back into the machine. Make sure the bottom unit is attached.
Vacuum clean the carpet to begin with. There is a on/off switch at the back of the machine with a pedal to enable you to tilt it. Once switched on you need to use the trigger in the handle to mix the water and shampoo. If you don’t use this the water won’t come out onto your carpet.
Move it around as you would your vacuum cleaner. Take care to move the cable out of the way, I found that because I stopped to pick up the cable i was left with a prominent wet mark on the floor. What you want to do is smooth motions across the carpet to avoid this so remember to elevate the cable.
As you move around, you’ll see the dirty water! wow – it also picks up any particles missed by your vacuum cleaner!
When I removed the unit to empty it, there is a little spout or you can un-clip the whole lid which you will need to do anyway to rinse it out.
