I paint the fence every 5 years as recommended on the tin. Last time it took me 8 hours to paint the 2 fence panels and all the picket fence, then another 8 hours for the second coat!! I’ve been looking at it all summer knowing it’s got to be done but unable to face doing it. People told me you can’t spray fence panels as it goes everywhere. I read the reviews and decided it’s worth risking if it doesn’t work in back to square one, if it does I’ll be over the moon. I watched a couple of videos, they said the paint needs to not leave a trail when you’re mixing it so dilute with water and mix well if it does. I was using Ducksback, so many people saying they’ve done it but mine was like thick soup, I probably didn’t mix it hard enough to start with. I added water, then more water, not sure how much. I crossed everything and switched on. It had a few splutters with the really thick bits that hadn’t mixed well but then started working!! If it seemed to be getting bunged up I turned up the paint volume and gave it a shake. 2 hours later I was done!! I didn’t get paint overspray, I pushed cardboard under the fence and just went for it. I’m normally covered in paint when I’m done, I didn’t have any on me!! I couldn’t stop grinning all day, this thing is literally a life saver!! Only complaint, it says there’s a mask included, there wasn’

Super little unit, so easy to use and a pleasure to see the outcome. If you need to paint a medium to long length wooden panel fence, this is your go to. 56 M length of panel fence done in 3 hours. 16L of fence paint. Make sure you have plenty of water to hand as the fence paint was bit gooey…so required a fair bit of thinning.

We did have a very nice sunny day too, so if that can be arranged…you will enjoy the day!!

I was surprised how well this product works, after doing a fair bit of research a lot of reviews indicated this was the best for value and performance. It quickly covered a space that would have taken hours to originally paint in around 30 mins with a nice even finish. A second time of using I did find that it was leaving an uneven finish, but realised it was how the pipe was positioned inside the pot despite being full, something to check if you encounter similar.
Great value and saving 3 hours has already covered the cost of purchasing.

Why i haven’t used one of these before for my fencing i have no idea. I have just had 22 meters of fencing put up and needed to stain and protect it. I used Cuprinol Ducks Back. I didn’t need to dilute it at all. The sprayer is very easy to clean. No cleaning kits required, just a bowl of soapy water. Highly recommend this sprayer. Very good for price. Plan to try it when i paint the house.

Used this today to spray my 70′ fence and wow, finished in 2 hours and that’s taking my time. Cleaning is easy and it’s now boxed ready for next year.

It’s ok getting the job done faster , put !!!! the bad
thing about it. You need to keep refilling it all the time waste in a lot of money buying more paint so
if you don’t mind still buying paint all the time when it’s expensive then okay it’s a good thing.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersEasy to fill and spray is very controllable. Either set the trigger limiter or squeeze gently. Adjust the nozzle for vertical, spot or horizontal spray. I did a 10m featherboard fence 1.8 m high in about 20 minutes first coat. Great results.
The fence paint I used didn’t need diluting.
Tip: use a funnel to pour paint. put sheets down so as not to drip on stone. Use a piece of straight edged cardboard to mask off bits. Wear gloves.
Cleaning takes no longer than cleaning brushes and overall much faster.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a real game changer and enabled me to paint my fences quickly and gave a great finish. You can adjust the paint output and the trigger is touch sensitive so you can configure it to suit your technique easily. After trial and error you will easily master it and the dilution for your paint. I used Ducksback and found that filling the reservoir to 1000ml with paint and topping up to 1400ml with water worked well for me after mixing. I would recommend also getting the cleaning kit especially if using Ducksback as it contains wax. The kit contains a range of brushes for thorough cleaning of all the sprayer parts. Plenty of videos to watch on using the sprayer on YouTube. Would highly recommend this paint sprayer!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersJust recently had my patio extended with a large decking area. Decided I wasn’t going to paint the decking but to treat it with some decking oil to help preserve it. applying the oil with a brush seemed too much like hard work so shopped around for a spray gun and after reading numerous reviews of different branded spray guns I opted for this one and I’m really glad I did.
It took around 50 minutes to apply the oil but one tip I will give is that you must try to do it on a calm day.
The day I did it was a little breezy and as the spray is quite a fine mist it can blow back onto yourself and clothing, also wear a facemask and glasses/goggles.
Cleaning afterwards was really simple. I just filled up the tank with hot soapy water and ran it through the gun then gave it a good wipe down (if using paint it might be a bit more involved).
Overall I highly recommend this product, you really won’t be disappointed

We got this to spray our fences and decking and it worked a treat in a fraction of the time.

It is very easy to use and it will certainly be a regular feature in our garden, because it does what it says it will do. Cannot complain!

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersMy fences needed painting, I hate painting fences. Decided to buy this, after researching and reading reviews on this and other sprayers.
I used it with ronseal fence life one coat, undiluted, i had read some reviews saying that the paint/stain would need watering down a bit, and other reviews saying not, so i went with no watering down, and absolutely not a problem, this spray gun system would probably have coped with thicker paint. Once you’ve filled the paint container and got set up, it’s as simple as turning the system on, and pressing the trigger. The paint container holds around 1 litre of paint, and with the trigger pressed constantly, i would say it would be empty in 2 or 3 minutes, you do spend as much time refilling with paint as you do painting, to fill the paint container i would suggest a small jug or even a old tin can to scoop the paint from the original paint tub to the spray guns paint container. And also, if you are going to stop spraying for more than 10 or 15 minutes i would suggest rinsing the spray gun with water so no paint drys inside and clogs it up. I would also add that it is quite a messy job, lots of overspray, so if you’ve anything close to the fence that you don’t want painting, mask it up or cover. It took me about 3.5 hours to paint fencing that would take about 15 hours with a brush, and in my opinion looks better too.
Before either buying or using, I would suggest watching a few videos on YouTube, there are plenty, for advice on how to use, and what paints are best.
I am a joiner by trade, and i own plenty of tools, but i said to my wife that this is the best tool i have bought, purely for the fact that it turned a job that i absolutely hate doing into a job that i quite liked doing, even offered to do the neighbours fence with the paint i had left!
Works well, saves time, what more could you ask for.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBuy this sprayer if you need to apply shed & fence paint. It’s truly amazing.
BUT – buy some ear plugs at the same time!
Apart form high levels of noise, there’s nothing not to like about this sprayer. It’s easy to use, pretty easy to clean, is EXTREMELY good at applying even thick products (painted two very large sheds, with 2 coats of Ducksback, slightly watered down to reduce viscosity, in only a few hours, including the drying time between coats).
Cannot recommend this sprayer highly enough. I would buy one again, without doubt & its so time saving too

I bought this to paint some new fence panels with ducksback. They say you don’t have to thin it down and this is mostly true if the paint is warm. 1st can went on ok. 2nd can must have been colder and was a lot thicker and glooped into the container and didn’t really pour. The sprayer didn’t work so well this time as not much paint was coming out so it took about twice as long to paint the panels but I only had one to do so I persevered. Today I did the 2nd coat so I brought the paint in overnight and added about 5% water and this worked much better. It was quite a bit quicker than even the first can. I did 5 panels both sides, supports, a gate and cleaned and packed everything away in about an hour.

Having spent many hours researching I am so pleased I chose the Wagner Paint Spryer.
It performs exactly as advertised, completed 12 fence panels in under an hour – including a coffee break.
Yes you do have to clean all parts afterwards, as you would with a paint brush, but really it is very simple and easy.
I used 9 litres of Ronseal paint in all, with about 5% water mixed in the Wagner paint holder and “hey presto” the paint sprayer did its job without a murmur and the fences completing in record time.

Because pouring paint can be tricky, I suggest wearing rubber gloves, add the 5% water first then using a 5 inch funnel to pour the paint through into the Wagner paint holder, then stir.

Wagner do supply a measure for the water so no need for guessing the 5 or 10% of water.
What is important is to disassemble the paint spryer and thoroughly cleans all part.
Follow the instructions supplied, its NOT difficult and after the first time it becomes a cinch!
This really is a very good tool and has saved me hours of boring painting.

I would highly recommend the Wagner paint spray.

Just recently bought this and used it for the first time today. Never used and electric sprayer before but after reading the instructions I gave it a go. Takes only a couple of minutes to get used to the sprayer and I was greatly impressed by how quick the paint went on. I only expected to complete a small part of my raised decking but having got used to the sprayer very quickly I found that I could complete the whole bottom section in no time at all, much quicker than both hand or hand pressure sprayer. The cleaning of the sprayer was very quick and easy so I will be completing the remainder of my decking tomorrow. A great buy.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe have a big garden with a large number of fences. I did some of my garden and painted 13 fence panels + posts and base boards in 1.5 hours!!!!! I was worried about how long it would take to clean the machine, but to be honest it took no longer than cleaning paint rollers, brushes, trays etc. If you were only doing a couple of panels it would be a pain, but when doing a large number of panels it’s a no brainer. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get one. I used it with Cuprinol Shades paint and it’s worked perfectly. Couldn’t be happier. Buy one!!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI got this basically because I am really lazy and do not like painting, I am also not very good at it. I had a garden table and 6 chairs to paint so click I did. I used good quality Ronseal protection paint and set the unit up after watching the Video (Which is very good by the way) and started to paint the underside of the table which I thought was a good place to practice.
The Wagner works brilliantly I was covering a lot of ground (and table bottom) in good time I have a few 750ml tins and put a whole one in the canister. The Wagner started to run out and spit towards the end of just the underside of the table which is about 5ft by 3ft I didn’t really mind that as it did a good job even in my non painting DIY hands.
However, where the Wagner falls down is there was still quite a bit of paint left in the bottom that I could not get, I tightened the lid, fiddled with the tube inside moved the canister around and tried allsorts (not liquorice) but it remained, In fact when I started to paint a chair with the paint left in there I had enough to actually do one whole chair which is a bit of bad designing in my opinion. Maybe this is true of all sprayers I have never had one and of course I expected some left in there but not that much.
One thing I was happy about is that it is VERY easy to clean and all parts come up well even the canister which is well designed for cleaning.
On the whole if I were doing lots of fence panels maybe the bit left in the bottom would not bother me so much but if you only have a few small to medium size jobs have a paint brush prepared to scoop out the excess.

Finally a home sprayer that actually works consistently.
But why such small paint containers?
The device goes through a container rapidly and I have had to buy a second container to reduce the hastle and mess of stopping to fill up a single container.

Easier to use, tho cannot have any breaks as it it will clog up & will have to clean, bit of a pain you just get going into a stride and it will eventually clog up, have to detach it from strap etc, but reasonably happy with it, and a lot lot quicker than using a brush, and think saves pai

Great little spray gun, got all my 6 foot panels done in no time, spent more time filling the gun with paint than I did spraying panels, excellent. Some people have said it uses a lot of paint, but to get the same coverage as one run with the spray gun, you would have to do 2 or 3 coats with a brush, after you have finished painting, fill it with clean water and spray it through a couple of times, then it’s ready for the next time you use it.

  32. SanoraJowett says:

It’s easy to assemble and easy to use, but do spend a lot of time to refill and afterwards cleaning. I find it’s very difficult to get the pain into the container. I have a 1 litter jug, even use that still mess up, half the paint inside and half of them outside. The paint which I used is Ron seal fence paint, the paint like jelly curd, very difficult to transfer from big container to small container.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI paint my garden fence about every 2 years, mainly because it is a 2 day job, and 2 large tins of varnish. Not a job I ever look forward too, so in year 8 I thought, I really need to find a better solution so borrowed someones paint spray gun, only to find it didn’t work, this made me a little annoyed so I ran indoors and found this… price isn’t too bad and reviews are all pretty good.

It arrived, unboxed and started assembly, not the easiest thing to assemble but persevere and you will get there. I then filled the container with my tin of varnish and went for it… what a breeze, worked fantastic, what used to take me a day I did in 40 minutes. A real time saver.

Cleaning it, that is something else… I carefully followed all the instructions and it isn’t a quick simple process, you take a lot of it to bits, wash things, clean things and then sort of put it back and spray water through then remove parts and spray more water through before assembling it all again, this probably took a further 20-30 minutes. In the grand scheme of things, still a huge time saver just a little laborious to clean.

Bought this to apply treatment to the garden fence panels. I have 80m x 2m panels that badly needed treating. After a pressure wash and a few days drying I started using this sprayer. WARNING – Practice your technique and adjust the volume on the sprayer pistol. I found initially the mid point setting on the pistol was too much and was splattering the coating too densely to the fence panel. Eventually I turned the volume to minimum and the spray was nice and even. Saves a HUGE amount of
time although after application I brushed it to even the appearance a little better. Cleaning is a pain of course and clean up can be messy. Thankfully only water based so get a large bucket of water and a stiff bristle brush to give it a good clean before putting it away. Next time you use it you’ll be pleased you did!!

This is a good value sprayer, (my first). I am glad I bought the cleaning kit, as the sprayer stopped spraying on the 3rd refill. ( I used Cuprinal sprayable fence stain; forest green). I found the spray nozzle clogged up if left unused for 5 minutes ( refilling container) but easily cleaned with the cleaning brushes set. follow the instructions but its usually the spray nozzle.
Spraying was even but easy to overspray, so have a bucket of water or hose to wash down paved areas or adjacent walls.
It is very fast and I did all my fences ( previously stained same colour) in 3 hours, a job that took 5 or 6 days by hand. box said face mask included but didnt have one. You need one.

Works well with most paint types. I’ve painted fences with different paints, render paint and normal Indoor paint and it all worked well. It’s a great spray gun for the money. Very thin or watered down paint seems to work the worst, oddly. And very thick gloopy paint doesn’t spray that well. Everything in between these extremes is great. Highly recommend.

The product is easy to assemble and use. However I had to resort to a brush as my garden fence has established shrubs etc near by. If it was a new uncluttered fence it should work great. The paint holder supplied is very small and needs frequent refilling
