A nice design and it feels comfortable to hold. Connectivity was easy and it went smootly. Extra macro buttons on the back for addition button bindings for the hardcore players. USB C port for faster charging and the quality of the controller is great overall.

We were very pleased to receive this additional controller for the Nintendo Switch. It seamlessly connects to the switch with no issues what so ever, it holds it charge for a long time and is very responsive. We find it much easier using this than the original controller included with the switch! Very happy and recommended to others.

    Cool design.
    Light weight.
    Turbo button.
    Freaking back paddles.
The ONLY complaint I have… no amiibo reader. But you know what, its still 100% worth it.

We got a switch in the home at Christmas, it’s a great console but we were wanting to be able to play multi player for games like Mario kart, unfortunately the official joycons and pro controller are rather expensive for what I’d likely to only get limited use so I decided to give this a try. Unlike the “knock-off” controllers of the 90’s and early 2000’s this actually feels solid and great to hold, it synced to the console without issue and has worked flawlessly ever since.

The controller feels good in the hand, there is no stick drift, the buttons actuated well and felt solid and clicky, the triggers feel good and not “flat” or unresponsive. The controller seems great and I’ve got no complaints.

I’ve had this for 2 months now and have used it for a variety of games. Overall I like it. The battery life is great and most of the buttons have a good amount of ‘travel’. It’s comfortable to use, the vibration can be a bit intense and I can’t figure out how to reduce it – the method the manufacturer suggests does not work.

My only problem is with the sticks. They just feel too tall? Slack? I don’t know how to describe it, but the stick could be a bit shorter and stiffer and it would be perfec

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe Switch Joy-Con controllers are garbage – they’re cramped, uncomfortable to use and their wireless range is awful, constantly dropping out.

This wireless Switch controller shaped like the Xbox pad fixes all of those things. The D-pad isn’t perfect as there isn’t a lot of feel to direction presses, but the others are positive enough. The underside buttons I didn’t think I’d use turned out to be very helpful in situations where run is a button hold right next to jump (think Mario, DKC). Much easier to use the underside as the hold run button.

Battery life seemed around 8 hours so matches the claims, contruction is a solid plastic with a rubberised coating on the grips (will see about longevity but it’s unmarked after a week of use).

Overall for this price I’m happy to recommend this as a good alternative to the more expensive official pro controller.

As a budget alternative to the official Pro controller this comes in at well under half the price, and that’s admittedly fantastic value. The controller is comfortable in the hand, the buttons are very slightly spongy but still responsive, the D pad rolls a little but the input is reliable and there’s no drift on the sticks after a couple of months of use, particularly with animal crossing and mario kart. Let me tell you, if you play ACNH as much as we do, the turbo mode is invaluable when set on the lowest turbo speed it makes in game crafting a lot more convenient and lot less just mashing the A button repeat when wanted to craft multiple items.

The controller doesn’t support NFC’s for inviting amiibos over for camping or coffee, but it does support the gyro for the full boost experience in MK. A good value alternative to the official pro pad

Golden Review Award: 104 From Our UsersI was a little unsure about this controller comparing it to the product information picture I thought it was a little diminutive in size but I need not have worried, its great, good quality material, good build and works exactly as I would have expected/hoped. Good enough to serve as a primary controller, easy to pair with device, not too heavy and has a lengthy enough USB C Cable for charging.

A friend of mine has compared this to an X-Box controller, I could not comment as I have never owned an X-Box but they appreciated this controller for that reason and said it was a familiar grip and hold for them only playing on a Switch instead.

The 500MAH battery lasts for 8/10 hours when fully charged, longer if you dont use vibration or gyroscope is off. The vibration function is good, it does not feel like a “rattle” or “shakey” but operates as you would hope when using it with compatible games providing some additional immersion to play.

As I said the pairing is not a problem, I was pleased with this as other controllers that I have played have issues with power, slow to charge, depleting too quickly or connectivity issues in use but not this controller.

The only issue, possibly, as mentioned by another reviewer, is that the DPAD (direction pad, the up, down, left, right keys) is spongy, if this is an issue for you then the Analog sticks are really good. The spongy DPAD could be to your liking but I do know that there are some people who think its a minus when using the control with fighting games and side scrolling games. I’ve never found that issue so much but then I do use the Analog stick control quite a bit too in preference to DPAD.

Golden Review Award: 125 From Our UsersThis controller may be cheap compared to the official one but it easily stands toe to toe with it. It’s by far the most comfortable controller I’ve ever held, which is good for long sessions. It’s very easy to pair with the Nintendo Switch, which is what I got for because of joycon drift, which has been “fixed” twice now.

I’ve never used a turbo capable controller before and the instructions were a little vague on how to use it but after a bit of experimentation I got the hang of it. Turning it on is easy enough and to cancel the turbo you just do the exact same process you did to turn it on – hold the turbo then press the relavent button to deactivate it.

Pairing was ridiculously simple and fast too, plus it wakes up the Switch!

Is this value for money? Yes. Would I recommend this over the official Nintendo pro controller? Yes, especially if you’re on a budget.

The buttons and analogue sticks have a nice chonky click to em, some may not like that but I love it. The grips are a rubber like texture which keeps it in your hands when they’re covered in sweat after a few nail biting rounds on Splatoon or Smash. The d-pad, despite others taking issue with feeling a bit cheap honestly feels fine to me.

The only things that let it down are maybe the battery life, but that’s not really an issue since you can still play while it’s charging, and the instructions that come with it with regards to its turbo function. Other than that you won’t regret buying this.

  25. LolitaMacgroart says:

This controller compares very well to the Nintendo wireless controller but for a lot less money. It feels good in the hands and all of the buttons and sticks are placed well. The sticks have a good amount of feel and are accurate and responsive as are the buttons. It is comfortable to hold for a long session and battery life is well over 8 hours on a single charge. There is a turbo feature which does work but for the types of games I play (RPG mostly) it isn’t really a feature that I will be using.

The only thing that I am taking some getting used to is having the buttons on the rear of the controller. I found myself accidentally pressing them on occasion and thereby causing unintended controller inputs. I suspect that I will eventually get used to this though.

So overall I am impressed with this controller. For the money it feels good in the hands and performs very well. Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 135 From Our UsersNow it has to be said that I have purchased and own a fair few other non official controllers in my time so I can directly compare to many other non licensed manufacturers as well as a produce a comparison against the official products too. What I can tell you is that this particular unit is actually pretty impressive when compared to others being offered in the market place today. Here is a breakdown of the pro’s and con’s of this unit against a more expensive officially licensed unit as well as other non branded counterparts.

The unit is a little chunkier than some non branded controllers and has a slightly different shape when compared to the official joy cons or pro wireless controllers that are manufactured and supplied for the Switch console. Indeed it has a slightly different design and feel to other non branded competitors available to purchase separately in the market today too. It’s certainly not uncomfortable to hold and use although it takes a little getting used to when you have spent a long time holding a more slimline controller. My eldest children actually found it easy to hold despite its larger size and preferred to use this one over the original joy cons. My youngest kids had no troubles adapting either but unlike my eldest, they actually preferred my licensed and other non branded pads over this one. For me personally I also found it easy to adapt to and I actually found I preferred the look and feel in use of this controller.

Out of the box setting up is an absolute breeze. I attached the accompanying USB cable directly to the switch to charge it and as soon as I turned my console on and pressed the on button on the controller it recognised it instantly without me having to do anything. I was up and playing games in less than 60 seconds. How easy and simple is that?

The buttons are all mapped the same as a standard controller too so no need to mess about assigning each or configuring layouts. There are some additional buttons on the rear of the unit which I believe may be programmable? I personally didn’t need or use this feature though so I cannot comment directly on this aspect. The rumble feedback is good and actively replicates my official joy cons and charge wise this unit lasts about the same time as standard controller, with re-charge times being approximately the same too. Being USB you can either plug directly into your console or charge it up elsewhere. A small row of lights highlight the position number if multiple players are using other control pads. I have included a photo of both this controller and the official Nintendo joy cons side by side so you can directly compare sizes. This particular model is a little chunkier than the official pro wireless offering from Nintendo but nonetheless still has a very nice and tactile feel to it in my humble opinion.

There is no lag between button presses and thumb pad movement and everything works exactly as expected. Button presses do feel a little clunkier and more ‘clicky’ than I would like but that may be just reflective of price and certainly not something I really noticed after a short time using it. It’s incredibly cheap when compared to the official pro wireless control pad yet performs exactly the same albeit for a lot lower cost. Would I purchase this one again or recommend it? I am happy to say it’s a resounding yes! It feels more than comfy for longer gaming sessions and having other similar non-branded controllers this one stacks up really well. Ultimately it’s a good controller and priced incredibly low for what it is. Quality of build is particularly good and I can see this unit lasting a very long time. Absolutely nothing to dislike about this at all. Perfect!

Superb build quality and feels highly comfortable in use.

So handy having programmable rear buttons is a great addition to a switch controller. Also having a turbo button with different settings is great.
Vibration is strong and comfortable, rubber grips add comfort to long game times.
Don’t throw out the instructions you’ll need them to remember how to set up the turbo and program rear buttons.

    Tactile and comfortable

    Wireless controller

I was sent this in return for my honest opinion on it.

This is a nice little controller, definitely similar to the generic ones you can get. All black and blue with LED lights. You have four customisable buttons, to aid you in many games.

The controller seems well made, it’s nice and lightweight. All the buttons press and move nicely, they keep up when you’re pressing fast.

This does come with a USB-C cable. I think this took a few hours to charge, it can provide up to 10 hours playtime which is good.

The bluetooth connection was better than I thought it would be. If I’m too far away, there can be a slight lag but otherwise it works quite well.

I do think it’s a good price at just less than 20 so I would recommend it. It can work with the switch, switch lites and PC, we’re using it for the switch and PC. You do need a bluetooth receiver in the PC for this to work.

    Not bad for the price.

Golden Review Award: 116 From Our UsersThis is not too bad a third party controller, it is not perfect but it is pretty good for modern games, I say that because the D Pad is the weakest part of the controls for me. It looks good, though understated, there’s nothing remarkable or stand out about it’s appearance but I quite like the understated look.
Il start with the plus points
    – The analogue sticks are great, they have a rubberised top and round the edge is a textured finish to stop your finger slipping.
    – The 4 face buttons initially felt cheap when I tried them but actually in gameplay they are lovely and responsive and don’t hurt your fingers, they are comfortable for long gaming sessions.
    – The top triggers are really nice and responsive, feel good to press, though the sound they make is a bit clunky.
    – The bumper buttons need a special mention, a third party Switch controller that has bumper buttons with very little travel, they feel like digital buttons and not analogue, though im not sure they are but since the Switch uses only digital buttons they do mimic this well.
    – The textured grip feels nice, it does not feel cheap and really gives you something to hold onto it, I really like it, very comfortable as well.
    – Really easy to pair, just hold the sync button on the change grip/order screen and your done, very easy and quick.
    Now onto the bad points
    – It won’t wake the switch up from sleep, you have to physically turn the switch on and then it will recognise it, I do find this slightly annoying and it’s a shame.
    – The D Pad, I had high hopes but there is just too much travel, the whole thing pressed in just too far before it pivots. I tried some Switch Online games and I found it was too easy for my finger to slip and press down instead of left and right. It also just feels a bit clunky and not very fluid. It is definitely the weakest part.
    – The programmable back buttons, they are nice to use but I just find them difficult to press, their positioning isn’t great.
If you are not too bothered about the D Pad the controls on this are pretty good, snappy and responsive, it is easy to pair, looks good (though understated) and had a really nice textured grip. I have tested a lot of controllers over my 30 odd years of playing games and this is pretty good for a third party pad, not as good as anything official but you know what for 19.99 as of December 2021 with a 5% voucher it’s pretty good value. Just remember the D Pad isn’t great though and it won’t wake the Switch up from sleep.

Functions well apart from the weak D Pad, feels good to hold

At just over half the price of the official Nintendo version, this is a very good value option.
The colour is good, and the plastic is high quality. The build is very solid; I can confirm this from experience, as I dropped it and it didn’t break.
It was quick and easy to pair it with the Switch.
It feels good in the hand, with soft grips to keep your hands where they should be while playing.
The size is just what you need for large Mario Kart battles, as the smaller joycons which come with the console can be fiddly for larger hands.
The battery life is good, a lot better than some controllers I have tried.
I was impressed with the options for reprogramming the buttons; I confess I haven’t tried this, but it’s a good feature to have in reserve,
At this price, you really can’t go wrong.

Golden Review Award: 124 From Our UsersThis is a really nicely designed controller that I’ve been using on both the Switch and my PC.

The controller is clearly modelled on the Switch Pro Controller design. It features an almost identical front and top layout, with just a ‘T’ button added (which is a turbo function that essentially allows an automatic multiple button tap). On the back of the controller, however, you will find a number of buttons not on the Switch Pro Controller – these are mappable buttons that you can customise to your preferences.

The design of the pad is really nice. It’s a matte stealth black with turquoise accents to give it a bit of flair. At the grip section you have a sticky silicone pad that makes the controller super easy to hold on to. Everything looks and feels very good quality. The buttons have a satisfying click, the shoulder buttons have gradients of pressure, the joysticks offer the right amount of resistance and spring too. Even during longer sessions, I didn’t feel uncomfortable due to the controller being ergonomic and light.

In terms of performance, I had no issues with the controller at all. There was no input lag, the connection via Bluetooth or cable was great, the battery lasted about 8 hours as advertised, the motion and vibration worked as well as other controllers I have too. The only real thing worth mentioning is that the PC detected the controller as an XBOX Controller and so the X/Y/A/B buttons will need remapping in the settings of your PC game unless you want to get used to the different button order.

Overall, I’m really happy with this controller and am excited to use it for both my PC and Switch gaming 🙂

Golden Review Award: 119 From Our UsersThe good…..

The controller is the same size and a xbox one/series s|x and the buttons and sticks feel almost identical to the xbox controllers.

Comes with a decent long USB C cable for charging

Has 4 extra face buttons on the back of the controller which I’m not 100% sure if they are Mappable as the manual doesn’t mention how to do that.

Its really well built and feels great in the hands and isn’t too heavy, comes with a 500mah battery which you will get around 8-10 hours and more if vibration and Gyroscope is off.

Gyroscope works and feels great which I tested with crysis 2 and vibration feels like…. You guessed it vibration.

Pairing is easy just go into ‘change grip order’ and press L and R and it will show up on your switch also you can wake up the switch as well which is great.

Sticks are great with no dead zones (not on mine anyway) and buttons feel nice and click.

It has rubber around the hand grips for that extra grip which is always appreciated.

Now for the not so good….

The Dpad is very spongy so for fighting or side Scrolling games stick with the analog stick.

There is no NFC in the controller so if you use that feature a lot then keep your joycon close by.

For 19.99 you can’t go wrong with this controller…..

    -feels great
    -decent battery life
    -USB C
-feels like a xbox controller, so familiar.
    -has really good Gyroscope
    -good vibration
-extra buttons on the back which may be Mappable.
-wake the switch up from sleep
    -wireless through Bluetooth 5.0

This is a third party controller for the Nintendo switch/lite, it works very well with no issues.

This is wireless and rechargeable and on a full charge we have had 8 hours of use out of it before needing yo go back on charge, it takes 2 to 3 hours to charge.

This is a lot better than I expected as I’ve purchased third party Controllers before that have been useless and a waste of money!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI’m a core gamer, meaning I spend hours every week on PS4 or PC. After I got the Nintendo Switch, I quickly realised I needed a proper controller, because although the joy-con is great for mobility, it is too small or seems could break at any point.

So time for a pro controller, and I know Nintendo has a pro version, but just like any other Nintendo products, they are expensive. This one costs half of the price instead, and it connects smoothly without any problem and works exactly like what I’d expect from a Nintendo Pro Controller.

The design is almost the same, so it holds like a PS or Xbox controller with comfort and ease. So if play games on TV, I always use this one and keep joy-con on the console, it will also improve the life span of those 2 tiny controllers too. It has a nice weight and quality feel to it and does everything you want it to. It has no connection problems and does not disconnect.

    Comfortable and good vibratio

Golden Review Award: 106 From Our UsersThis smart wireless controller for the Nintendo switch (it also works with switch lite and PC’s running windows 7-10) provides an excellent option to the branded alternative at much better value for money. It is a rechargeable controller that plugs in via the supplied USB C cable and has 4 LEDs on the front edge that indicate how much charge the controller is holding. A full charge is good for about 10 hours of use. It connects via bluetooth, although it can be used as a wired device also.
As well as all the usual controller buttons it has a sync button on the back for pairing with the Switch (first time only) a T or turbo button which allows you to adjust from 5 to 20 shots per second when the trigger button is held, you can also adjust the intensity of the vibration function of the controller from 100%-70%-30%-0%, and the joystick controllers can be calibrated. As well as all this the controller allows you to map functions to the rocker buttons on the back of the controller which consist of two rocker buttons each that can be pressed left or right.
This controller is excellent in use, pairs quickly and easily to the Switch and has a multitude of custom features allowing you to get it just how you like it for your games. It looks good has nice textured grips and all the buttons work well although they do have a softness when pressed, when I would have prepared a more certain click, although the branded controller is the same.

    Excellent alternative to branded controlle

Much easier to play games with than the provided pull of joysticks the console comes with. Makes playing farming simulator on the tv a lot easier through it. Connects easily and once initially connected with will auto connect each time you turn on the remote. Golden Review Award: 122 From Our UsersI think this is an excellent controller for the switch and/or PC. Times have really changed from when I was younger and third-party controllers were synonymous with junk! This has a really solid build quality, with nice rubberized grips and even a decent feeling rumble. All of the buttons are nice and feel solid enough, with no so soft, squishy feel to them and the sticks equally have a nice snappy feel and don’t just flap about. It is kind of basic to look at, the entire controller and all of the buttons are made of the same, matt black plastic except the slim blue-green detailing on the sticks, but it looks great all told and doesn’t seem cheap. Pairing to the switch was easy enough and exactly like pairing an official set of joycons or pro controller and though I only used it wired on a PC to test it out, Windows 11 recognized it instantly without any need for drivers, just plug and play. It’s maybe worth noting that whilst not identical, it has a similar size and footprint as the official pro controller, so this fits into my carry-all case perfectly. I like that the battery/status lights are on the bottom, so they don’t shine up and into your face.

It is quite small and compact and I have larger hands so I did find myself having to give myself a bit more room and adjust the way I hold it, but not in an uncomfortable way at all and I actually found it more comfortable than the Nintendo controller, due to the way it flairs out slightly. Overall I’m really pleased with it, think it looks and feels great and getting it paired is simple so I’m happy!

Great quality switch and PC controlle
