What to consider when buying a nightlatch
Which size do I need?
Yale Nightlatches come in two different backset sizes that fit different door types.
Make sure you measure the door before you purchase one. The backset on a night latch is the distance from the centre of the keyhole to the edge of your door.

Solid and easy, easy to install
The lock feels very solid and well built. It was easy to install I fitted it myself without any issues. We’ve been using it for over one month now and it’s been working perfectly, giving a strong sense of security.
Good looking substantial lock
My old lock broke (not a Yale) and I needed to replace it without too much fuss. Lock arrived before the expected date (which was great) and fitted that day. Lovely looking and really smooth action and I was able to keep the old lock barrel so no need to swap keys and have spares cut. I think it’s very good value for the price.
Great Home Lock
Love this Yale lock as the last one was a lever one and was ok but did not look great, this is a silver chrome so nice, I am now forced to re-decorate my front door. Features is the internal lock which I love, as i did have this before but had to use a key which is not safe in case of an emergency, now with just a simple push down with my figure and no chances of locking myself out when emptying the bin 5 stars plus as I can use this feature to hold the lock.
It works if you know what you're doing.
It does not fit all doors and door frames, if you are competent in installing and problem solving then I would recommend this item, if you have to modify the fitting and you’re not sure how to do that then don’t do it. As far as security is concerned I would give this lock a low rating, overall it does what it’s supposed to do but only if you know what you’re doing.
Great lock
Very pleased with my purchase, was really easy to replace my very old yale lock with this one and it was my first time replacing a lock, wasn’t at all stressful and was pretty straight forward and rewarding!! I had no problem getting extra keys cut which didn’t break the bank, a bit dearer than other keys but the locksmith explained that was because it is a very good quality lock. In addition to this I mentioned that others had said they could not get keys cut for this lock and he said that it was probably because it was a new lock and the keys are not normally available to around 6 months later ( I know not helpful) but that probably explains the earlier reviews stating they were unable to get keys cut!! Glad I did as my new shiny lock looks great and secures our home.
Excellent lock
Excellent product, easy to fit, looks professional and works a treat ….just make sure when you go out the double lock isn’t on…..you’ll know because handle on inside dont work when locked …prevents burglars opening from inside .
I’m made up with it and managed to bag it in sale at 27 quid ….woop woop
Good value lock
we bought this for our rental property to replace a very old night latch. Its good value and looks great however was not a completely straight swap as the plate on the lock keep was thicker than the old one which meant cutting a bit more of the door out to make it fit.
Good lock at a reasonable price
Comes with 2 keys but if you need more then they are expensive
Hard to get keys cu
I am having a big problem getting keys cut for this lock. It seems that it is so new nobody is carring the key blanks. But it is a great lock.
If you’re competent with a chisel, own a 32mm drill attachment and are willing to take your time then this is straightforward to attach from scratch. In chrome it really ‘pops’ against my marine blue repainted door. Unclear why folk are moaning about getting stuck etc; there must be faulty units out there – but it’s not a design fault. May shownuo fingerprints but the chrome is high finish
Quality product, good price and fast shipping
This is one of the few nightlatches that can be configured for an out swinging door. However you will need to get an out swing latch plate since the plate that is included will only work for an in swing configuration.
Even though this was shipped from the UK to the US it arrived much quicker than expected.
Easy to fit and to use
Very fast delivery – lock was as described on the box. Easy to fit and to use. Excellent purchase.
I actually brought the chrome version and although it’s slightly larger than the old version it was relatively easy to fit. To be clear it does work as a deadlock despite what another reviewer has said. You just need to make sure that the arrow on the back of the inside unit is lined up with the mark on the slot that connects to the tumbler arm before you slot the two together.
Nice Yale lock with the ability to deadlock when leaving the property for extra security. Simply pull the door shut and turn the key anti-clockwise to engage the deadlock. This means someone can’t use a Credit card to swipe the lock open or smash the window and turn the latch from the inside.
Instructions were clear. I fitted it myself but it was a direct swap for an identical old model.
