When I first bought my ZYZEL NR5101 My 2022 NEO QLED QN90B tv, moniter and computer 43″ screen had just arrived. Hooking it up was a delight with no detramental issues at ALL!!!

Movies and streeming shows are flawless!!! The only real problem is that the servers have to be updated WIFI 6 standard too!!! This will take a little time.

If your running an old computer, (note Not supported by Apple or microsoft OS’s) your going to have greaf!!!

The output (data transfer rate) runs in the fair signal circumstance when the load is light though when it’s heavy i get a full signal on a 5G EE simcard!!! What JOY with NO PROBLEMS!!!

    ALAS!!! hurray!!! WOW

I swapped my cable broadband for this.
5G gives us higher speed at lower cost.
    Very easy setup.

Exactly as stated. As it is unlocked it gives you the freedom to try different 4g data sim to check signal strength and plumb for one that suits either on a no contract basis or otherwise .We are rural no fibre broadband & no landline of worth.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI wanted this device as a backup to our BT (copper) broadband which has proved to be very unreliable. Alas, we cannot as yet get a fibre connection.

The device worked straight out of the box without any issues. The 4G LTE connection is excellent and stable at about 40 Mbps with a ‘3’ data SIM. I had considered getting an outdoor 4G LTE antenna (the antennas supplied with the device have standard SMA connectors and as such, are easily upgraded). However, this has proved to be unnecessary.

I did however, try the router out at a friend’s house where they get a poor 4G signal. With just the supplied antennas, this router managed just 1.2 Mbps. He has a “Poynting XPOL-A0001” omni-directional antenna fixed to his garage roof. That has standard SMA (male) connectors so it can be easily connected to this router once the original antennas are unscrewed. Wow, what a difference as we immediately consistently saw 30 Mbps downloads with little ‘jitter’. So, it’s nice to confirm that a ‘beefier, antenna can be effectively used with this router if necessary.

Anyway, back home – as regards admin, you can use the web interface with a browser of the “Zyxel LTE Ally” app on a mobile. Both methods are OK though the Android APP is a tad temperamental and the browser menus rather counterintuitive. On checking, I found the device had the latest firmware already installed. I use the LAN sockets to connect to our home wired network (printer, smart TVs and NAS etc) and all functions as required (with DHCP disabled – as our BT Smart Hub on the same network is currently our DHCP server).
Indeed, we are now considering getting rid of BT Broadband and the BT router completely.

I registered the device on the Zyxel site and the warranty was confirmed by email.

    Works well

Very simple to set up and working very well. Nicely made unit, with reasonable software. Looks to have some useful software features which I will be taking advantage of and was easy to set up. I have a small Zyxel NAS which has been reliable over a number of years so I have high expectations of this device.

Stability seems rock solid, I generally like Zyxel gear and this is no exception. I bought this device for the bridge mode functionality which works well. One nice thing is you don’t have to play around setting up static routes etc to access the admin UI once its in bridge mode, you can just access it on whatever LAN IP you setup before switching to bridge mode. One thing to note is that bridge mode is not all that useful because most non-commercial mobile providers do not assign a public IP address to your device so its still somewhat limiting. You can’t effectively use port forwarding or setup traditional VPNs into your network. (Just a comment on the environment not a reflection on the device itself which is good.) Would recommend.

Our home broadband options are VERY limited, so we got this, plus an unlimited EE Data SIM and it works fantastically.

When combined with the “bridge mode” feature of this modem, our router has no issues with Double NAT like it would using a 4g dongle. Speeds are fantastic, and the ability to connect a beefier antenna if necessary is great.

Only gripe is that upon restarting it takes a good 5 minutes to re-assign the IP to the router/device connected to it. But once thats done it works flawlessly

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWhen I picked it up it said on the box 2g/3g router, oh my I thought I had bought the wrong one, but then I thought 4g can only be a firmware update, the router came with the latest firmware and connects to Three 4g on boot up. I am getting 50mbps download speed, perfect, no need for a broadband connection!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI spent a lot of time researching 4G Wi-Fi routers with the specs I was looking for, this ticked all the boxes.
Reliability, ease of use, 4 LAN ports, having detachable aerials and not being a Huawei were essential!
