Great drill well made by a well known manufacture. You know you get what you pay for with Bosch tools. This drill holds well in the hand and looks smart. It has a removable head so the heads can be switched over if in a hard to reach place. Does what I need it to do with ease.

    I would recomend this drill.

Have the product for almost a year and very pleased with it performance. I used it for occasional diy activities(once a week) and only needed to charge the battery 3 times. It also hold the charge very will without using.

The right angle head is very useful and handy in tight spaces

Do not hesitate to buy this drill set. It makes jobs that normally take ages so much easier. Thought about buying a decent battery drill for years as getting my old hammer drill out required an extension lead and a lot of messing about. This is powerful enough for all the jobs I have thrown at it so far!!!

Bought to replace a failed corded drill. This is actually more powerful than the old drill! Was a bit dubious about battery power, not anymore! Magnetic screw holder is really useful. Battery seems to last for a long time, and no drop in performance as it runs down. Brushless motor so should last.

The drill/Screwdriver is good. However one small issue is that the forward and reverse switch is right near your thumb and because this is an electronic switch which rather than a manual switch. You can change the direction of rotation annoyingly easily. Care must be taken when using this.

So I am what i would class to be an average DIY man who is willing to have a go at most things. I don’t tend to buy a lot of tools so when i do i am keen to get the right one. I decided to buy a drill driver (not percussion) as i have an sos i use for the big things. Well from the moment that i opened the sturdy box it came in i couldn’t be happier, this unit is the business. The body is super solid and the brushless motor is absolute quality. really nicely weighted in your hand and the direction button is electronic so easily changed by a twitch of the thumb. Then you get to the attachments, standard chuck, right angle and offset, these are easy to change and give you a reassuring feel when in place. I bought a second battery as a personal choice as i intend to procure another item from the Bosch 18v range so it makes sense, but other than that its such a good unit and far better than the alternatives that i have seen on the market for a lot more.

My two year old Bosch PSB 1800 died recently with a broken gearbox. Admittedly it had taken some punishment. The cost of a new gearbox for the PSB 1800 was over 50 so I was delighted to see the Advanced Drill body only for sale at only 13 more than a new box. I chose the non impact version of the Advanced Drill as I already have a couple of other larger hammer and impact drills.

I’m very pleased with the advanced drill. Although slightly heavier and chunkier than the PSB 1800 it handles well. The removable Chuck is great and the screw driver holder even better. It’s quick to change from drilling to screwing just by changing the chucks. The electric forward/reverse switch is very convenient.

It takes the same batteries as the old PSB 1800. Some users have observed that it doesn’t fit inside the PSB 1800 box but by removing some bits of plastic from the box with my multi tool I manage the get the drill to fit in the box.

    I highly recommend this drill

A great replacement for a broken PSB 1800 drill

I always need two cordless devices, a drill and driver, otherwise I’m forever switching out screw bit for drill and vice versa. These interchangeable heads make it easier, especially as one is magnetic and automatically changes speed depending on use. A clever but simple modernisation of the drill driver.

I’m very impressed with this drill/driver, it’s compact, comfortable and light to use, it’s also very powerful so no problem drilling or driving in screws, changing the heads is easy, in fact everything is easy on this well designed Bosch drill set, I’m surprised that it didn’t come with a basic set of bits but that wouldn’t put me off buying it

Recharging is very simple, and the battery lasts a long time with the brushless motor helping things

I used to use a large and heavy DeWalt drill for everything but I bought a Bosch a couple of years ago and it too is much lighter, I think Bosch are well made and designed and certainly plenty of power, I’m looking forward to using this kit when a new shed is in the cards this spring

I would recommend this to anyone

The Bosch AdvancedDrill 18 is great quality and powerful. Up to most DIY jobs, you can use this outdoors, but it may not have as much power to drill through hard stone. For general tasks it is up to the job. The case is strong and impact proof and the drill is a good weight for odd jobs.
You get one battery, but for heavier tasks you will need another, as on intensive tasks it will run the battery down, so a spare battery is essential. The good thing is that the 18v system is compatible within the 18v range.
Really impressed with the drill and works a treat.
For more professional job you’ll need something with more power, but you wont be using this on a building site, this is more for DIY and semi-professional jobs around homes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have been using Bosch power tools for a long time. I appreciate their design and reliability so they are often my first choice when it comes to parting with some cash for a new one. My set has three attachments and a single battery, along with charger and a useful storage case to keep everything safe and secure. A second battery might have been a useful addition for me, but to be fair the battery life is excellent and being Lithium-Ion means that it also holds its charge well in-between uses. This one also has the advantage that it fits other tools in the range so if you do have other cordless Bosch tools then you may already have a spare.

The tool itself is good to hold, with a nice balance for single-handed use. The supplied attachments mean that it can be used for different tasks, with easy changing between types. They have made this tool far more capable than my old drill and it copes well with awkward jobs that would have me scratching my head in the past. Drilling at 90 degrees is just one of the new features and I’ve been impressed with the new, innovative design.

In terms of performance this tool copes very well, with good results in wood, metals, plastics and some building materials. It doesn’t have a hammer action so isn’t best suited to drilling in brick but it can still handle it with limitations. For most domestic users this will be a very useful tool, and I expect mine to last a long time too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis 18V Cordless Drill Driver really is the tool I’ve been looking for, it’s got all the power and torque of a Makita but it’s much more versatile and comes at a better price point.

    Pro’s
    * I like the case, its tailor made for the drill and attachments. To many time cheap cases just have a carboard insert.
    * The drill has a good balanced weight, at 1kg including the battery it’s really easy to handle.
    * Switching between forward and reverse is a doddle and the indicator light on the top lets you know which mode you are in.
    * The different attachments snap on and off with ease.
    * Its easy to switch between screwing and drilling.
    * The battery can be used across a variety of other Bosch devices
    * There is a clear battery indicator on the drill so you know how much power you have left.
    * There is loads of torque.
    * The magnetic adapter makes screwing in a difficult place easier.
    * The variable speed trigger is great for delicate jobs.

    Con’s
    * The instructions aren’t great.
    * The battery charge is quite large and the alignment to get the battery on could be better.
    * It would have been nice if the case incorporated a basic bit selection.
    * It is a little on the pricy side.

Its taken me a while to write this review as a DIY job hasn’t cropped up, after using it a couple of times this weekend it really was a joy, there is nothing better than having the right tool for the job.

The day that I find the job that requires the angle adaptor will be happy one, at that time this tool will become priceless.

I’d happily recommend this drill and I’ll be looking out for others in the Bosch Pwer4All range.

What we like the most about this is the off centre “chuck” which is great when you are screwing close to a wall, and there is another piece that goes around corners.

The attachments are all fantastic quality, the handset is a good size that will fit in a smaller hand or a larger hand no problem.

It’s a powerful drill with a good battery and is very well built, as you’d expect from this brand.
It comes with a good quality case which has plenty of extra space for screws etc. It is partially encased in rubber and part plastic.

We have used it for both drilling and screwing without any issues.

    Would recommend.

    Powerful drill

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a cordless screwdriver and a drill in one. Fantastic to use with a light that comes in handy when you’re drilling in a cupboard or other cramped area.

I can’t fault the Bosch quality and like most people, I have other Bosch gadgets in my home. The build is very good and it’s compact and comfortable to hold. The magnetic screw holder, range of speeds, dual function etc are all high end functions that show Bosch have thought about how people use the product.

I had some trouble with the mode selector. It’s very stiff on my unit and requires a hard push. But it works and hopefully will loosen up with time.

However I don’t understand the 209 price tag – it’s just a drill and a screwdriver at the end of the day albeit with a light and other conveniences. There’s no hammer action on the drill and it doesn’t come with a starter set of bits to at least justify the cost.

I’ve got a screwfix hammer drill I brought for 90 which has seen me through many, many jobs. So 209 for a screwdriver/normal drill combo is a bit rich for my blood.

4 stars because it’s a wonderful product supplied in a trademark tough case. I’ve dropped one star for the price but if you’re not price-sensitive, then this cordless drill/driver will not disappoint.

  50. HildredCornejo says:

The only thing missing from this drill (which would be impossible to fit) is a little LED lighting up where you are drilling.

The drill more than compensates for this by having a feature that you will only need rarely but when you do you will thank your lucky star. It comes with three interchangeable chucks:

A standard chuck with the drill bit centred.
An offset chuck with the driil bit to the top
    A right angled chuck.

All three chucks are satisfyingly solid. The later two are a godsend when you are trying to driil a hole in a tricky place, mostly retrofitting or repair) or indeed insert or remove a screw in said tricky place. You won’t need them every time you use the drill but when you do…

It’s well balanced in the hand and powerful enough to make the hammer drill function worth having on a battery powered drill. It has a multi-position torque setting and is reversible (natch).

For everyday use it’s probably a bit over the top but it can do things that no standard drill can do, making the difference in price disappear the first time you need the specialist features.

  51. Anonymous says:

This drill is the latest in a long line of drills from Bosch. It has all the normal features that a good drill should have, plus a few extras that answer those odd questions you ask yourself when you are working in tight corners.
The drill is well balanced and doesn’t weigh too heavily in use. It has the usual rechargeable battery and charger in the box, and the new style batteries can be used in a variety of other appliances. One bonus point for flexibility.
The chuck is something new to me.
The chuck as fitted is just like any other friction fit chuck, but this one is also removable. By compressing the ring on the chuck end you can pull the standard chuck off to reveal a screwdriver stub. This means that if you are drilling and screwdriving at the same time you don’t need a second drill, or need to keep changing drills for bits. Drill the hole, pull off the drill chuck, drop the screwdriver bit in and you are ready to turn screws. Easy.
There is also an offset screwdriver bit holder, which helps in tight corners when you just can’t get the drill in the gap!
A magnetic screw holder can be pushed onto the driver stub, and this will hold the screw in place whilst you manoeuvre your drill, and sometimes yourself, into difficult spaces and places.
This is also brilliant when putting up ceiling plasterboard, a job for which you already need at least 3 hands.
You can also combine the drill head and the right angle adapter which allows you to drill behind narrow openings.
The drill has good torque, and a good range is speeds, controlled by trigger pressure. There is an electronic, rather than manual, forward reverse flip switch on both sides of the drill, and a handy light to conform which way you are drilling. On the battery pack, there are 3 leds to tell you the state of charge.
It is a very good development of the drill, and will be welcome by anyone who has ever wondered why they don’t make drills that can drill round corners.
    Well, now they do!
    Can’t fault it.

Really clever drill. Powerful and versatile

This drill/screwdriver is powerful enough for most jobs and using it on tiles and brick was straightforward. I was pleased it wasn’t that loud because I was using it at night. I think the buttons for changing the direction are not intuitive enough especially when you can’t see the two direction lights at the top while drilling or using the screwdriver above head level. Changing the ends is also quite easy and it’s handy it comes with a 90 degrees bend. I reckon an improvement on safety while charging the battery would be to add the same clip at the end so that it needs to be pressed before the battery can be released from the charger. At the moment a child could easily shake the battery off the charger. I would definitely recommend this drill/screwdriver.

Although expensive, you are getting a top quality (non impact) drill here that feels weighty and rugged and is also very versatile. I like the matt green finish which is non-showy and business-like and doesn’t show the dust too much. The trigger has just the right amount of feel when adjusting your speed and the magnetic adapter is a real boon for those awkward screwdriving jobs, particularly at height when you want to hold onto something. With the accessories, the case is a bit larger than what I am used too and I prefer moulded plastic inners which make it easier to place the various parts but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. I haven’t used the right angle or low down adapters yet and from memory have yet to really need them – like me a lot of others would have maybe preferred a second battery instead. Great drill though, I can even see me passing this one down.

Bosch Advanced Drill 18 Cordless Drill Driver with 18 V Lithium-Ion Battery and 3 Attachments

    In the box.
The drill body, battery, charger, 3 interchangeable drill heads, instructions and case.

    Design features.
This is a powerful drill but has three interchangeable heads so that the drill can get into awkward angles. You get a straight adapter, an adapter that lets the drill work at low levels and one which turns the bit holder 90 degrees.
The drill features fast charge and the battery will fit Bosch’s 18 volt range of tools. The drill has screwdriver, drill and hammer modes. It also has a handy LED light to illuminate your work space.

    Build.
It is very well made and everything works perfectly. The battery is easy to change and the drill body is very strong.

    In use.
The drill is powerful and the interchangeable drill heads are surprisingly very useful. We have a stables and barn and this drill can drill into places others would struggle. It is nice to grip and does a great job. The battery also fits several of my other Bosch tools so I can have several batteries ready for a days work. The battery life is very good but will depend on what you are doing with the drill. Obviously drilling into masonry will use the battery up faster than into wood due to the extra torch needed.

    Overall.
An innovative and powerful drill that has great design features. A great drill from Bosch, very pleased with its performance.

  55. HilarioTimm says:

This Bosch cordless drill/screwdriver has a lot going for it:

    – very portable with no cable and a long lasting battery
    – ingenious screwdriver attachments that allow you to drill close to a wall or other obstacle, and at right angles for spaces where the drill won’t fit
    – effective drilling into wood or plasterboard
    – top Bosch quality is evident throughout

BUT this is less good for drilling into masonry. Without hammer action the drill struggles.

Although this is a great drill/screwdriver set, personally I would look for one with hammer action too because not being able to effectively drill into masonry will be a problem for most at some point, and you don’t want to be buying another drill when that time comes.

This truly is an excellent combination power tool lacking only in not having a hammer action. It is a classic example of Bosch tool quality.

The power (motor) unit is a brushless 18V powered unit, meaning maximum torque at all speeds and the supplied offset and 90 degree angled drive mean you can squeeze this drill into almost anywhere.

It is light weight and being well balanced, combined with the magnetic screw holding bit it is a fabulous tool if, like me, you’re knocking on a bit!

The direction gear change is different to most as it isn’t a ‘clunky’ mechanical change but is achieved by simply pressing a button on either side of the body. An LED indicates the direction chosen and either direction can be achieved by either button, ideal for left handed or right handed people.

The various attachments are simple to insert and change and require a matter of mere seconds.

I would recommend considering if you are likely to need the impact facility of drilling into brickwork. If you won’t if, for example you are working mainly with wood, then this drill will meet all your requirements.
If you will need the impact facility then I’d suggest going for this drills big brother, the AdvancedImpact 18 which is about 35 more but comes with two batteries as well as the extra impact facility.

If I have any whinge it is that no driver bits are supplied but I’m just being greedy I think.

An excellent BOSCH tool as always.

This is quite an impressive combination, with some very useful attributes. I already have some Bosch drills and screwdrivers, this of course combines the two in one much more powerful drill. The offset and angled chucks are very useful for use in awkward places, but are only for use as a screwdriver, they won’t take drill bits, which is a pity.

The battery is easily removed for charging, it simply slides out once you press the release button.

Also very easy to operate is the switching from left to right rotation with the two toggle switches, one either side. However while this is extremely easy there is almost no sensation that you have made the switch other than a very slight click which with any other noise is easy to miss., and while there is a little light which indicates which option is selected it is quite easy not to notice the change. Additionally it might be all to easy to inadvertently trigger one of these and not realise.

The whole comes packaged in a typical Bosch carry case, which in this case really is useful as one really wants to keep all these parts together for ease of use.

It should be noted that for just a little more outlay you can get this drill with hammer action, and it is quite an effective at drilling into hard brick and the like, so if that is likely to be a need it would be well worth looking at that.

I already have Bosch drill that uses the same battery but if this is your first then buy the twin battery pack. The batteries last so long that when you do need to swap it comes as a surprise.

This driver is a fantastic tool to use if you need to screw and unscrew lots of things in one go. If you are assembling cabinets or wardrobes you will thank yourself for buying this. I got the 3 head attachment version which has straight drill, offset drill and upside down drill attachments. Each can be adjusted to point in any direction from the drill main.

    Things I like:

    – Light. So much lighter than my normal 18v electric drill is usually use
    – Powerful. Much more torque to screw into chipboard than a cheapo handheld screwdriver
    – Long life battery
    – Arrows point forward or backwards. Ok I’m an idiot but sometimes when working upside down at full stretch I like to see at a glance which way the drill is driving
    – Magnetic screw head – lovely

I have not used it so much as a drill but with the main attachment it can go through chipboard and plasterboard easy enough.

Things I don’t like but are minor things that won’t bother 98% of people.
    – Only one screw head included – Philips
    – No drill bits
