Fantastic sound quality for bone conducting headphones
This is my first pair of Aftershokz headphones and I’m well impressed!! The sound quality is excellent including deep base, miles better than cheaper bone conducting headphones that I’ve had in the past. My ‘rocking tunes’ is just that – rocking!! Amazing job, Aftershokz – very happy customer! 2yr warranty also a bonus. Highly recommended.

Awesome for workouts - sometimes tinny, but never fail
So I’ve got through LOADS of wireless “sports” headphones over the years, and to say these are the best would be a MASSIVE understatement.

Every other set I’ve had has had issues with waterproofing, or has come out of my ears while running. I thought I’d bite the bullet and invest in some AfterShokz, and SO glad I did.

Sound has a tendency to be a little tinny on occasion, but that’s due to the way it conducts the sound through yer bones. They NEVER fall out/off (they can’t!) and never had a waterproofing issue with them.

Don’t make the mistake of buying multiple sets of cheaper headphones, just get these!

Loved these .. sometimes you need hands free calling or music but need to know whats going on around you as well.. these worked brilliantly.. sound is not like the best headphones I have but is not bad at all.

Can be uncomfortable if worn for long periods .. as I sometimes do for work.. but on the whole would definitely recomend

    Just the job for me!
Having borrowed my other half’s bone conduction headphones before I wasn’t expecting the world’s greatest sound quality I have Bose headphones for that! But what these are fantastic for is being out running or walking and still being able to hear that car that’s coming up behind you or if you’re working from home still being able to hear the front door being knocked or the landline ringing. For that these are great. Also the simple controls for music and phone are a bonus. Also the fact that they seem to be more resilient to the great British weather.

    Great headphones
Use these to work with as I have tinnitus, taking and making calls for 7.5hrs a day – currently only need to charge them twice a week for this purpose, so battery a lot longer than I expected. Listening to music must use more power. People can hear my voice just fine, in fact better than another pair of bluetooth headphones I have. Doesn’t affect my tinnitus, as other over the ear headphones do.

The earphones are a little bit too large it would be good if you could alter them to sit on the base of your neck. I’m really enjoying listening to my audio books around the house and while outside.

    Brilliant!
Brilliant. I bought these because I get ear infections, even with over-the-ear cans. The sound quality is excellent, using a combination of bone conduction and open air tiny speakers angled towards your ears. I have not put in the ear plugs, but when I hold my ears closed the sound is still very good. No problems from anyone else using the microphones when I’ve called people. Being able to hold connections to 2 devices simultaneously is grea

Good for sport whilst hearing surrounding noises
I like them a lot. It did a 30 mile bike ride and was able to hear my music and still hear cars coming up behind me. Just don’t expect amazing sound quality or bass, it’s not what they do.

Unobtrusive to others and also decent as a Bluetooth earpiece.

Build quality is good and firmly latch on to your cheeckbones.

Great for hearing your surroundings and for people with ear infections
Started looking into bone conduction after struggling with ear infections for ages, doctor said having my ears covered most of the day with a headset was a likely factor. This is highly unscientific, but my ear infections did become less frequent after using this.

This was the second bone conduction set I tried, the first one was low quality, too flimsy and didn’t “grab” my temples hard enough which hurt sound quality, and ultimately ended up snapping in the middle from regular usage. This one does the job marvellously and is built to last (I did snap my first pair but that was my fault, sat on it). Yes, with bone conduction the sound quality suffers, mainly the bass, so if you’re pedantic about that be aware it will be a trade-off. For me, it’s a worthy one. It also takes a while to get used to them, at first the vibrations around my temples felt strange and gave me very slight vertigo (which might have been from the ear infection, so take with a grain of salt), but after a few days I got totally used to it.

I now own 2 pairs of these, and couldn’t be more satisfied. Other than the weak bass, the only negatives on this one are that it sometimes can be a faff to keep synced with devices (most likely just Bluetooth being Bluetooth) and that you can’t use it while charging. Tried their wired version but it was quite bad – for some god forsaken reason they decided to add a USB powered battery AND an audio jack instead of no-battery USB, which beats their main advantage of addressing the charging issue. At the very least you can use the wired version while charging (mess of cables notwithstanding), which is good because the one I got came with a battery that doesn’t hold charge.

Excellent headphones for fitness and for giving your ears a rest!
After months of wearing over-ear or in-ear headphones for work and for fitness my ears were suffering, so I bought these to try. It’s only day 2 but so far I’m very impressed. Pairing was easy, they are comfortable and the sound quality is excellent. It appears that the noise cancelling function is also very good but I’ve not tested this in earnest yet. They seem to grip well; I have a small head (crash helmet size S) and was worried they would fall off during exercise, especially as I have to wear them over spectacles, but they withstood a vigourous 45 minute rebounding session this morning and I only had to adjust them once – they stayed on. And my ears can breathe 🙂 So far delighted with my purchase!

I think the fact that they do not cancel noise is the plus part. I use them to listen to music and navigate in my noisy sports car. I can hear traffic and other noises. A BIG safety plus Also don’t know if they are water proof but mine survived me having to get into the water with a sperm whale ( track was in my trouser pocket!)

Great quality and sound although after using a couple of times I gave them to my husband as I felt they were a bit big for me and loves them. I then got the mini version which are great too. The reason I didn’t give 5 to noise block is they do not go on your ears but this is what is great as you can still hear traffic but still a great sound from music.

Bought these for running and bike, and to use around the house, so that I can interact with others. Arrived very promptly. They seem to be pretty fit for purpose, and at a good price. They connected easily with the bluetooth on my iPhone 6plus, and so far the battery seems good. Have not tried the ear plugs supplied for noise cancellation, so can’t comment, TBH, I would use my standard noise cancelling ear phones on a plane . Seem quite comfy, but if you turn them up very loud, they do make my head buzz in a peculiar way. Would reccvommned.

    Great for cycling
I had never cycled with music before; I felt that I wanted to hear other road users and I quite like spending a little time with just my own thoughts. Many of my longer rides are with mates, so no reason for music there in any case. During lockdown I decided to give it a go to break up the monotony of longer rides following recommendations from a couple of mates. Here are my first impressions.
Fit: Helmet (Kask) first, then AfterShokz then glasses (tried them under straps but found that uncomfortable). I had no interference issues between the increasing array of head gear.
On the road: I didn’t turn the volume up too much as even though they don’t physically block out any sound, I felt that I could not hear cars coming from behind early enough with the volume turned up. This had the effect that wind noise drowned out the music on downhills. Rather than turn up the volume I soon decided to pause music (single press on the left “earpiece”). This allowed me to enjoy the downhills and, more importantly, focus on not hitting any potholes – which is quite a challenge on our, often sun dappled, roads. On climbs the music was GREAT! It really made them go much faster and seemed to make them less painful.
Navigation: Google maps and Spotify play nicely together, and Google will provide directions even when the music is paused. I rode a well-known route but tested this and it is a feature I’ll definately use to explore in future.
Sound quality: OK, good enough, fit for purpose. Do they sound anything like Senn 660s? Of course not, but they are fine for sport or any other situation where awareness of other sound is desired. They seemed to be optimised for voice btw – could always hear Google’s lady well enough even when most of the music was drowned out by wind noise (google maps set to default, medium volume).
Calls: I made a call while out walking with them and the other party could understand me well enough, not used them for call while riding (would avoid in any case for safety reasons, through the ability to quickly take a call without digging the phone out of the back pocket could be useful).
Running: Not tried them yet, but did lend them to my son who, after wearing them few times, has now ordered his own pair (btw, because they don’t go into the ear no real hygiene issues with sharing these).
Summary: Great product and will definitely be using them both for navigation and for music on longer rides.

These were a last minute Christmas present for my Dad…he absolutely loves them. They do not cancel out noise so I didn’t give them a rating for that…their purpose is the opposite, to be able to listen clearly both through these and to the outside world. Battery life could be longer and better, only offering 6 hours, but that is the trade off for a sleek compact design.

Work great to keep your ears free when out and about. However, the volume can be quite low in loud environments. I have to push the headphones into my cheekbone / temple to be able to hear it.

    Works reliably, good for running
After struggling with another, less expensive product, I finally gave in and spent the extra money on the AfterShokz. It was worth it. These headphones worked well and reliably right out of the box. I have had no issues with Bluetooth connectivity (works every time), the battery dying (it is long lasting), or sound quality (it’s as good as you would expect). I use them for running and they work perfectly.

In short, spend the extra money for these and you’ll save yourself money and hassle in the long run.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersReally impressed, could prove really beneficial to those with hearing difficulties.
Really pleased with the performance of these headphones. I have impaired hearing on my right side so I bought these to see if they would be an improvement for me over traditional headphones. The quality of the sound is very good, but as other reviewers have mentioned due to the method of sound transfer they are not going to be able to match the range of traditional head/earphones. However, I am very happy with the improved sound quality in my right ear when listening to music or spoken word. It has been a few years since I have been able to listen to music properly in something close to stereo.
Bluetooth connectivity is excellent, as is battery life. They are comfortable to wear, I find myself wearing them when working around the house, driving the car or connected up to the TV. You can even listen to them in bed if you wear them back to front!
If you have them too loud you do receive a slight tingle, but a slight reduction in volume will solve this.
Personally very satisfied with the build quality and performance of these bone conducting headphones and would recommend them to anyone, but especially to others like me with hearing issues, they may prove beneficial. I would definitely invest again if needed.

These are my first pair of bone conduction headphones. So far I have only been wearing them around the house. I will be taking them out on my bike tomorrow to see how they perform.
    The sound quality is very good considering they do not fit into your ears. I am sure that more expensive in the ear headphones will have better base and more clarity, but the point of these headphones is to be able to still hear what is going on around you. The website says the following;
The only official headphones chosen by England Athletics. Nothing in/on/over your ears. Our OPEN EAR DESIGN makes it safer for running, cycling and driving.
The headphones come with a protective bag and a micro usb charge cable. I don’t know at present how long a charge will last but I am sure these will be tested by myself on my bike and my wife who runs.

The overall build quality feels good and so far I am very pleased.

    Verry good, I am impressed
I had doubts to buy them after reading some of the reviews here and in other places. My goal was to get a headphones which I can use without blocking my ears’ channels (had problems with ears before) and plus something what I can use when cycling. I was surprised that the sound quality is decent. I was already aware about the bass problems and lack of “noise cancellation” therefore for me no problem here. For those who are going to buy – think twice if you need them and do not complain after buying; lack of bass – absolutely true and false, it’s just different because bone conduction is different than air (normal headphones) and bass cannot be “bumping” your eardrum using bone conduction tech, it’s not about hearing bass, it’s all about feeling it; no noise cancellation – of course no because your ears channels kept open for the surrounding sounds. Wonderful, brilliant for my needs

    Great!
These are fantastic. They are bone conductive so not noise cancelling, which is perfect for running in events where you need to be able to hear what is going on around you. Others cannot hear your music. They are comfortable.

    Good headphones for quiet runs.
Very good headphones for quiet runs, as soon as you hit busy roads you have to have the volume up full wack to hear anything apart from traffic noise. The idea is good so you can hear thing that may cause you harm if you couldn’t hear while wearing over/in ear headphones.

    A great find
Used these for the first time at the weekend for my first 10km training run! I wasn’t sure if they would be any good but I was pleasantly surprised & very impressed once I’d worked out how to turn up the volume….thought you used the button on them but you should use your phone……stupid me!!!! I hate wearing anything in my ears & so these are fantastic. Like being able to hear other things going on around me, much safer & at the same time whilst listening to my playlist, a great sound, my run would have been so boring without them, can’t wait to go again! Love the colour too.

    THIS IS PERFECT!!!!!!!
If there was a way to given this six stars for every category I definitely would.

Does not given you the discomfort of conventional earphones … where you always get that feeling of something stuffed in your ear. Also does not warm your ears so much that you end up sweating so much like headphones. And yet the clarity of the sound is still as excellent as some of the branded earphones out there! Whoever developed this technology deserves a … prize. I am guessing just like how Alexa was developed with the intention of making the world a better place for senior folk, this was developed with those of us with inner ear problems in mind… but look at the amazing stuff it has done for the rest!

The range is exceptional as well.

I am going to need to return mind and get another one as uhm… my head is too small for the normal sized one. Yeah I know… I will have to, as someone who is going through his mid-life crisis… get the mini ones, and those for swimming as well as I am an avid swimmer.

These are my forth pair of bone conductor earphones. To be absolutely honest, these are no better than the cheaper ones I have tried. They are good for cycling and jogging but I haven’t noticed any difference between these and ones for a third if the price. Maybe they will last longer, I shall have to see. Cheaper ones have lasted about a year of being used daily.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese fit the bill totally on all counts
I hate headphones. But someone showed me these and it caught my interest. I like to listen to music in the car but my wife doesn’t like my music, I like to listen to music when out cycling or my bike GPS but I need to listen for traffic too. These fit the bill totally on all counts. The music quality isn’t as good as pukka headphones or ear buds( which never stay in my ears anyway!!) but it’s good enough for me and the volume is fine too. I can answer and make phone calls on the headset too. Very useful feature I thought.
I wear glasses and these fit over them just fine so another question answered. Very pleased with them so far and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

The newer models make this redundant.
I bought the titanium, then saw the Aeropex, I’m sending the this one back. You would be much better off saving your money for aeropex:

    – The level of comfort is significantly improved over the titanium. As a glasses user this was noticeably uncomfortable after 2-3 hours. You can lay down.

    – The audio is significantly better. Base is actually a thing.

    – Audio leak is lower.

    – Excellent for long use.

I love running and cycling but find it hard to stay safe while listening to music. Plus sweat dripping in my ears and ear plugs dropping out. I tried the AfterShokz out in a shop and was amazed by the sound quality but did not purchase them as they were cheaper here on Amazon. Just done my first run in them around York along the river and town centre bearing in mind it is 26 degrees today so I knew i was going to sweat. I did not have to have the music on loud as its coming through your bone rather than directly into your ears. I could hear traffic people talking and still hear my music. Sweat did not affect the sound quality and they did not slip or move.

If you want a pair of earphones with great sound like Boss these are not for you. If you want a pair of earphones for fitness and to stay safe by hearing traffic these are a great product.

I bought the Normal size and my head is 57cm circumference and they fit fine. They come with instructions, carry bag and charging cable. They took about an 1 hr to charge and that was from a power bank.

All in all, very pleased and i would recommend them.

I was abit sceptical about these, as I had never used anything like them before, and I don’t usually leave reviews. I run about 4 times a week, and sometimes on my own, so I felt I needed to be aware of my surroundings whilst listening to my music. I can tell you now I wasn’t disappointed. The sound quality is excellent. I can hear traffic, and also bicycle bells whist still being able to hear my music. I can voice dial too, which is good if there’s ever an emergency. They feel very secure during my runs too. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Great for running out doors. Music is clear but I am able to hear traffic as well. My last set only lasted a couple of hours without the need to recharge.

Solid earphone that don't bombard your eardrums!
One of the best items I’ve bought off Amizon. I have always hated earphones as I believe playing music in the ears cant be healthy. These earphones provide crisp, clear music to the ears via the bones adjacent to the ear allowing you to hear external sounds, which is essential when driving or running.

Wasn’t sure about getting these but needed them for a race that doesn’t allow normal headphones but have been very impressed. They keep the Bluetooth signal very well, the sound quality is great ( a bit light on the bass but that’s to be expected) and most importantly they are loud enough to be great to run with while still hearing whats around you . I have used them on 2 runs so far a short fast run and a half marathon distance and they are super comfortable ( first time ever I dont feel I have to keep adjusting headphones ) For the price a solid 5/5 .

    Surprisingly Useful.
Bought these headphones for use in some work I had on at the time, but found them useful in many different ways. The anti noise cancelling idea behind them really does drive through some serious uses. For example, using them while playing an instrument on a loud amp works a treat, since you can hear both, and the vibrating punch of the drums and bass can help to keep you in time. It also works for playing video games, if you want a mixture of music and game audio.

If you haven’t tried wireless audio yet, it’s great. You’ll find it hard to go back, since the ease of use that comes with wireless is fantastic. Of course, you lose audio fidelity, and by the very nature of these earphones, the audio quality isn’t up there with the best. However, The overall quality is good, even the bass surprisingly, and the punch from the vibrations add a nice feeling to the music, a better way to experience it. For example, listening to coma by guns n’ roses, and the heartbeat on the intro really does pulse.

What’s not so great? The earphones admittedly do look a little bit goofy. However that’s only if you care what other people think, which you shouldn’t. They do hurt your ears after a while, in the areas where they hook around, and the soreness never really goes away. That is to say that you don’t get used to it, although the soreness becomes less over time.

You may be thinking about battery life? I haven’t used these headphones through a full charge, but I have managed to get three plus hours out of them, which is about as long as I require them. For leisure purposes, I think it will do you well, however don’t expect for them to hold their charge through a whole day of work. As far as i know, it charges relatively quickly.

In terms of flexability, the headphones seem to connect to any phone perfectly well. I did attempt to connect them up to my PC, however I was unable to do it. I haven’t tried again since, and I don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t work. it seems that the headphones connect up to the last device it was connected to, so you will need to disable Bluetooth on the device that you don’t want connected, or alternatively unpair them.

Overall, I would recommend these earphones. They’re surprisingly useful and provide a nice, different listening experience. I am more than happy with my purchase, and double happy being a first time wireless buyer.

These headphones are the real deal
I’ve never spent this much on a pair of headphones before but I competed in a 10k yesterday that banned regular headphones. As such I needed some that were effective & had an extended battery life.

These headphones are great. They are easy to set-up, great to listen to, extremely comfortable, you’ll be able to hold a conversation or listen to other things at the same time, and the battery life is many many hours. The 10k I participated in was in extremely wet & windy conditions and these headphones did not act up once. Played perfectly.

If you’re willing to part with the money, and exercise outdoors often, these headphones will do everything you need.

Wow. What a piece of kit.

Sound quality is fantastic considering the speakers are not in ear.

Bit too much vibration at high volume so not sure how comfortable this would be if you were in a noisy environment.

For me though for fairly quiet runs round the local park etc these are perfect.

Love the neckband as opposed to wires as makes them very secure and compact behind the head.

I’ve got a large ish head and don’t feel they are too tight.

Battery could do with being longer I suppose, but I guess that’s down to the vibration.

Bluetooth range is superb and not had them cut out once.

    Very happy.

Great headphones for running and other activities
I was originally a bit concerned that bone conduction would not work. But it does! Unless I am somewhere extremely noisy, I can hear my music or audiobooks just fine. It takes a little getting used to as you can still hear your environment, but I adjusted quickly. Its great for helping me feel safer as I can hear when someone is approaching me – or even friends just saying his if we bump into each other. I have never been a music quality aficionado, but these are the best quality headphone I have owned in that regard so very happy them!

These headphones are a game changer for me. I wear hearing aids and have always had problems with headphones, needing to remove my aids to listen, then being unable to hear people talking to me. With these I can keep my aids in, hear my audio books or music more clearly and pause whatever I’m listening to if someone needs to speak to me. Another great feature is being able to take and make calls at the touch of a button! I love them!

I went for these bone conduction headphones due to me suffering from slight hearing loss in my left ear. Having tried a multitude of fixes, none of which were satisfactory I tried these.

Well, its a bloomin revelation, i can hear evenly through these, so i fear i have a middle ear condition and not inner. The sound is strange, in that i cant get away from the fact that the sound I’m hearing is at least partially coming from the grill on each side, as sound leakage is a very real thing here. And so I dont know how much bone sound I’m getting and how much actual sound I’m getting, if you know what I mean.

They are comfortable for about an hour or so then they can start to hurt, due to the pressure being exerted on your cheek bones. It’s not a massive amount of pressure but nonetheless you will notice it after a while.

The actual weight of them is negligible and charging is pretty quick say an hour will get you 8 to 9 hours playback. Bass does tend to tickle somewhat as it just vibrates on your cheek.

Sound quality wise, it’s not going to be rivaling any pair of decent conventional cans, however it is a different kind of sound, and is very clear and bass is evident and quite meaty.

All in all for sports or if you have hearing issues they are a God send.

    A new way of listening
A great device to preserve ambient sound whilst listening to your own music or source via Bluetooth – feels like another extra sense. I wear hearing aids and this enables me to experience both without any compromise. I have not tried them whilst cycling or exercising but imagine that they will allow you to be aware of the surrounding environment. They need some careful positioning around the ear bone area, but once established, the sound is very impressive. They also impart a vibration that gives the listening experience an additional dimension. Highly recommended.
