    Sadly my blind motor was faulty but on contact with the seller who tried everything in his power to help rectify the matter on the telephone he decided to replace it. The service was second to none and his efficiency rewarding. The product did work but overrode the stopping point that I had set. When the blind motor is up and running correctly it will be an amazing purchase and as I said earlier a great seller.

    I bought these for the kitchen blinds, had to do a little jiggery to get it to fit due to the security bars I have, but nothing too difficult, the supplied template facilitates mounting to eliminate errors. Even if you’re out, the device has a ratchet mechanism which means you can adjust the height to apply the correct tension on the cord. I could have cut and shortened the cord on my blinds and joined them with the special beaded cord joiner supplied in the box but I wasn’t sure if that would pass through the gear smoothly so I opted for a small plywood addition to my cabinet, although slightly unsightly, I didn’t want to cut the cord on my blinds only to find that the join gets stuck in the gears, maybe somebody could feedback on using the beaded cord joiner supplied and whether it passes through the gears smoothly or not. I’ve automated the blinds using the Amazon Alexa app to open at sunrise and close at sunset. Super cool device, I’m very happy with it, not noisy at all, the standard sound of a small motor running, and fast enough, any faster wouldn’t be good for the blinds anyway. Now I need to work out how to play the James Bond villain hideout music when they open and close!

    Exactly what I wanted.
    My aim with this purchase was to automate something I do twice a day everyday – blinds up & blinds down! Mission accomplished! They can be scheduled for weekday opening (I.e to wake up for work) and have a different time for those lazy weekend lay ins! Controlled by voice if you wish too. The only criticisms are the speed of the open/closing is slow & they are by no means quiet- so rather than wake up to sunlight coming into your room by the opening of the blinds, it will be the noise of the motor that abruptly wakes you up. But I refuse to take a star off for this as I believe all similar products have these limitations- bring on the next 5 years when we will have silent, rapid devices that do this job!

    This is a product I got because I thought it was cool.. and it is 😀
    I’d recommend this product to those that have an Alexa or other smart home devices as they work best with those due to voice commands.
    The most useful feature assuming you’re in a routine is the automation. It has settings within the products app (Smart Life) that allows you to open and close the blinds using time based actions. When you wake up, the blinds can open and at a specific time.. close.

    This I feel would be great for elderly if they have blinds so they don’t have to close them manually. Should the automation not run, they have buttons on the motor to manually press open or close.

    Although pricey, with warranty, I say its worth the cost for the convenience of them. Highly recommend!

    Two things stop me from giving it 5 star:

    1- Noisy. If it could do what it doesn’t without making a lot of noise, that’d be grand.
    2- No Apple Home Kit integration. (You can, however, work it via Siri if you install the app.)

    I did a good bit of research for a blinds motor I could retrofit on my bedroom and decided to go for this one and I have not been disappointed!
    It is worth planning how you will install this before hand, in my case I realised it would be better if I changed the blinds chain mechanism to the other side (was on the left, moved it to the right) because then the motor would be closer to a mains socket and it would be easier to conceal the cable. Installation is super simple, especially if you are a DIYer, but if you’re reading these reviews and looking to buy a product like this then you’re most likely one.
    The instructions to set your upper and lower limits could be clearer, it took me a while to understand them and had to look it up online. Basically what you need to do is draw the blinds up to the highest setting you want, then once they’re there press and hold the stop button until the lights flash, press the down button and let it lower the blinds and when it reaches your desired lowest point press the stop button, that’s it!
    Configuring the blinds on the Smart Life app is very simple as well, I always configure my IoT devices in AP Mode as I find it much easier. If you already had Google Home linked to Smart Life then you will already be able to control the blinds through assistant.
    I have installed this motor on my bedroom’s roman blinds which are fairly big at 183cm wide and 211cm high, the motor is able to cope with them fine, though a bit slower than I was expecting. It will close them in 1min 55 secs and open them in 2 mins.
    Lastly, the motor is reasonably quiet. At first I thought it wasn’t when I first operated it and was right next to it, but then I realised that I couldn’t hear it from the room next to mine or anywhere else in the house. Which wasn’t the case when opening/closing the blinds manually, you could hear that all over the place! So that’s a nice bonus.

    A couple of things I wish they had done better on the design:
    1. The plug for the power cable should be concealed inside the device so that it’s easier to conceal with trunking etc (see attached pic)
    2. The power adapter has a led light that’s green when in standby and red when the motor is working, this light is blindingly bright! I don’t see the point of having this light there at all. I had to cover it with white pvc tape as it’s in my bedroom close to my bed.

    It works, and the Ajax support is very good.
    Very easy to set up. I needed help on one step, which was how to set the limit.
    It wasn’t responding on the Smart Home App at first because I forgot that step.
    The Helpline Support at Ajax were super helpful.
    Basically you use up button, stop it at the top, hold the Stop button for six seconds and then close the blinds and hit Stop.
    That tells it the range.
    After that, it was very easy.

    Fantastic Customer Service - Great Device
    Bought this a few months ago for my bedroom, it was extremely easy to install and setup once reading through the instructions provided. The initial app setup was slightly more complicated but I got there in the end. I really liked the product but after a few weeks I realised it wasn’t best suited to my blind which caused a few issues with it opening and closing properly. This isn’t down to the device but instead blind. For this reason I got in touch and the process to return and receive a refund was extremely smooth and they were very helpful and understanding.

    I previously bought a brunt blind engine for one blind to try before purchasing several more however found it buggy, and slow to respond via the app and alexa. When I saw the Ajax online blind engine available (cheaper than the brunt) I thought I’d give it a try and in comparison, it’s amazing. More as their ally pleasing, easier to set up, more responsive, less buggy and just does what you would expect. A great product at a great value.

    Cinch to install, suggest screws, the tape won’t last to long as the mechanism is quite hectic and the tension will likely rip the tape off after a few operative (also, no double sided tape comes in the package).

    Took less than 10 minutes to install, had to ball the support phone number, which I was pleasantly surprised was answered on a Sunday by a very helpful gentleman who was entertaining his children outside!!!.

    The motor is a bit loud, but compared to the comfort of not having to reach for the string, its a minor issue. Also, i would probably not operate these more than 2 or if 3 times a day.

    Highly recommended, was very easy to link with Google home (I’m sure it’ll be the same with Alexa).

    Blind going up and down nicely under voice control from Alexa – quiet in operation and works reliably so far. Physical installation was easy although easy break connectors in my blind chain broke going through the motor. Mailed support on Saturday morning and had a reply in under 5 minutes – turns out there is a metal link supplied with the motor – I hadn’t seen it but it was there and easy to fit to blind chain – fixed the problem – excellent. Wifi and alexa set up was all a bit fiddy but the paper instructions provided helped – had to use pairing method 2 as first one would not work. Happy

    Made my roller blind "smart"
    I attached this to my front room window blackout roller blind which is 2.4m x 1.65m. The instructions provided are easy to follow and was setup in around 10-15 minutes.

    NOTE: In order to setup on this blind, I had to upgrade the fittings to metal ball and metal brackets and the ones supplied were plastic and smaller than the standard fittings. This is not a refelction on this product as it works as described provided you have a quality blind to start with.

    Now I have upgraded the blind installation bits, it works perfectly.

    I also have the remote which is easy to use, but I have added it to smartthings / alexa so I can raise and lower my blind by voice command. I put this in a routine and now its perfection!

    Purchased this for a patio door blind. Because the chain is so long for the length of a door, the mechanism struggled with the chain joint. It worked every now and again but not fit for purpose. Would have worked fine on a smaller window. So I contact the seller and within a few minutes had a reply asking for the measurements and they would look for a continuous loop chain. I hadn’t heard of such a thing! Anyway Covid 19 happened and the chain they got from another supplier got delayed. Finally arrived and worked perfectly. Set it up with Alexa and all works perfectly. The communications I had from that first contact all way through was great. Highly recommend the device. And if you need a long pull – get a continuous chain from Amazon for about 5. They come in 1.5m or 2m lengths and so best get that first before installing the blind mechanism so it’s in the right place. Great product and great service.

    This is my second attempt at smart blinds and decided to spend more and hope that quality and performance was better and it is! We have large bay windows behind a couch and the cord is too short (I have to tiptoe stretch to reach, so we never use the blinds because it’s a total pain). It’s worth noting that on Amazon it says it comes with double sided tape and it doesn’t, however this forced me to install properly with screws, which am glad I did. It can be hard to work out the right cog to use on the instructions (I had metal chain but that cog caused issues). I eventually worked it out using the strongest cog and everything is now working well. The function to be able to adjust tension when on the bracket is a great feature and overall you can tell the quality of the product is really good (night and day compared with the original brand I bought). The app I found problematic (couldn’t seem to find scenario option to group the blinds and the connection was so so – the next day when using app, it said blinds were moving when they weren’t). So have opted for the remote which is fab. Also good for my husband who can’t get his head around smart apps! Overall really happy and have confidence that if there are any issues the company will provide support. Feel like we will actually use our blinds now! Would recommend as a quality brand.

    This is the first automated blind in which I have managed ot get it set up and working with Alexa in under 1 hour. While it isn’t the quietest of motors it works well and there is paperwork (step by step instructions) inside the box that covers just about every aspect you need. I’m not the most technical person, but I managed to set it up OK.

    Love this product – it opens my lounge blind and floods the room with light in the morning but keeps prying eyes out at night. I like it as I live alone and it can have a set routine to run when I’m away.

    It’s not too difficult to install if you have done smart plugs before – I always set mine up on AP mode and remember to link to the 2.4g Wi-Fi.

    I had a small glitch with the first device – but customer service were exemplary, I had a full technical support and speedy replacement when we couldn’t fix it. Top marks and the new one is working fab!

    I wanted to automate my roman blinds to work with the projector in the living room, and this motor is just what I needed. I was hesitating a bit due to a high price tag (117 including remote), but the convenience it adds to everyday life well worth the money. The installation was hassle-free, just had to play with the included cogs to see which one fits my cord better, after finding a right one the blinds work quitely and smoothly, and this is a relatively heavy fabric blind of 2.40m width. The remote is very nice too and I like the fact it is not infrared, so I was able to install the motor close to the window frame so it is behind the blind when it is down, but the remote is still working perfectly. Works well with Alexa via SmartLife. Very pleased overall, hope it will last for long.

    A little pricey compared to other smart home gadgets but also much cheaper than built in wifi motors.
    Have it set up to automatically open the blinds is the morning and close at night. Much better than an alarm clock as I can’t press snooze on the sun!
    Did miss one morning opening but have since sealed from using Alexa routines to timer in the app directly and hasn’t happened since.
    Overall very happy

    Most trust worth Automation for Blinds in the marke
    Having tried Ikea Trafri and other option in the market.

    Purchased a couple of these for my elderly mothers roller blinds for her to control, via her Alexa’s.
    Installation was very easy, i did however have big problems connecting it to the Smart life app/Alexa, (which was probably me).
    After Spending several hours trying to get it to work, i rang the helpline for technical advice and the experience that followed, i can only describe as amazing, very polite ,& helpful which resulted in it working within a few minutes.
    It has been operational for over two weeks now and my mother is delighted with it.

    We bought this product for our front blind straight forward assembly. However we did struggle to get it connected to the app and Alexa and when we did we struggled to get it working but when I went onto the website and selected WhatsApp for support Ajay was brilliant spoke me through all steps to get it working and was only on the phone about 5 mins and he told me any more issues to contact him again which is fantastic service and support.     Great product, was a little unsure about buying at first but glad I did.

    Motor is well built, got some weight to it and feels solid.
    Installed and setup in around 10 minutes.

    Was unsure how to setup with IFTTT, emailed support and had a very fast reply with solution.

    I bought 2 from Ajaxonline website. Had some questions regarding postage as I live outside of UK. Ajay from Ajaxonline rang me after a few minutes, after I left the message on their website, on a SATURDAY morning! What a great customer service!
    Installation was very straightforward and instructions were clear. Scheduled to run for every morning and evening. This technology saved me lots of hassle and is very cool. Recommended for part of a smart home setup.

    Really great piece of kit, which is an relatively inexpensive way to make a smart blind. the only thing I’d say is you need to program the blind before the app works by holding the pause button for 6 seconds then lowering it to where you want the bottom to be. I couldn’t find this on the instructions but I emailed the seller and they solved this for me in a few minutes. Very happy overall

    Installed this to open and close my vertical blinds automatically (mostly for when I am away from home). Firstly there are some very nice touches. For instance the left or right mounting template makes fitting it much easier. Quite a nice piece of kit. A little bulky but completely acceptable. Setting it up with Alexa is quite straightforward apart from the fact you have to use a routine to use it (as opposed to just using a straight forward command). You can also set automatic timer operations using the smart life app My only real complaint is the motor is noisy. It even makes a dry whine on occasions. This really does detract from the affect of what is amazing futuristic technology. It has impressed friends no end (in videos) but it is a real pity about the particularly un-smooth operation noise. It would however not stop me purchasing another one. Great innovation. Only the noisy motor stopped me giving 5 stars.

    I have used a competitors system before which is very frustrating, regularly overloading and losing connection, so tried the Ajax Online version hoping for an improvement and it was! The instructions say 15 minutes to set up – I would say 5-10 minutes. Measure it with the supplied template, drill two holes and plug it in! Works very well pulling our vertical blinds across, and works seamlessly with Alexa . Highly recommended!!

    These devices are great! I have 8 so far with 3 more planned. I work away from home a lot and it is great to know my house can appear occupied when I am away.

    Also I have one blind that is over 2m wide and 2.5m high and the engine can control it fine.

    I use Alexa to control them and it is very simple to setup and use.

    Highly recommended.

    These Blinds Are Worth It...
    I am very happy with the smart blinds. It makes it easier to wake up in the morning without getting up to open the blinds or close the blinds. The blinds are very reliable and convenient. It also arrived very quickly. I highly recommend it. I bought one for the bedroom and I’m thinking of buying another one for the living room.

    It is brilliant! We had a bit of a problem setting it up with Alexa, but it was our fault as we missed a step out when following the instructions. We emailed Ajax Online and very quickly Ajay phoned us back and talked us through the setup. It was then that we realised that we had missed a step. Ajay helped us set up some automatic timings, so that the blind would open and close on its own during the day. We were surprised when, at the end of the day, Ajay phoned us back to see how everything was going. We were very grateful and most impressed with the customer service – we are now thinking of motorising the curtains! Thank you Ajax Online.

    This is a fantastic piece of kit, works great with Alexa or on the app alone. Really simple to install and set up. The only slight negatove would be the cost. It is worth the money, but if you need a few of them for a bay window etc. , then it starts to become prohibitive. Brilliant product and will be getting more in the future.

    I have bedroom curtains controlled by a cord loop and was hoping to find a device to electrically power them. This arrived yesterday and it works brilliantly. The motor unit is quite powerful. These curtains are heavy – velvet and lined 4m wide by 3m high but the device seems to move them fine.

    Connecting it to the chord, fitting to the wall, connecting to Wi-Fi and to the Smart Life app all went exactly as the instructions suggested. The Smart Life app has been updated a bit since the instructions were written but it was still straightforward. Setting up the open and close limits worked fine. And so now I have buttons on my iphone and Siri voice Commands set up to open and close – and also to partially open (you can choose a Percentage open).

    I just hope it don’t wear it out now. Can’t resist playing with it. Can’t imagine what the neighbours must be thinking.

    Excellent device.

    I can’t recommend The Smart Blind Motor enough. It does everything I need it to and more. The Smart Blind Motor is flexible and versatile and set up was easy as 1…2…3.

    This product is one of those products you don’t fully appreciate until you have it. It’s a must have product for any smart home enthusiast. It has made my life easier and provided great convenience and peace of mind, in regards to scheduling and the home security that comes from that.

    Easy way to get dark and night and light in the morning
    Really enjoyed this product. I want blackout blinds at night but natural light in the morning, and this lets me have both! Using the app to set a timer was pretty simple, and so now it goes up by itself every morning.

    Great customer service from Ajax too – I broke one of the small gears needed to pull the chain and they got a new one sent out to me really quickly.

    Works Smartly Well, Easy to install...
    I’ve been looking at a few smart blind motor options; from motors connected directly in the blind tube & other external blind chain motors. This blind motor seemed the best and most flexible option available.

    I bought one blind motor at fist, but have ended up buying 6 so far… But this was after sorting out a few ‘user manual’ niggles (the instructions should say ‘Set Up the Chain Motor First’ including the ‘OPEN & CLOSE’ settings. ONLY set up the SMART APP and CONNECT the Blind Motor after you have set up the Chain Motor to work through the buttons on the motor unit. Apart from that niggle everything has been fine setting up the Smart Blind Motor.

    The only thing to be aware of is that you will most likely have to ‘cut’ and re-join the blind chain, as the Chain Motor needs the blind chain to be ‘tight’ to work. But the ‘connectors’ to reconnect the chain together doesn’t go through the chain motor ‘cog’ (or the main Cog of the blind, might be different with the blind you have)- I have tried various chain ‘connectors’. So to get over this problem, I MELT the blind chain beads; joining one to another. This works fine. If a little fiddly.

    BLIND MOTOR POSITION: I tried various positions for the motor. on the wall I found straight down 3-4cn from top of windowsill the best place. My blinds are inside the window space.

    SMART/WIIFI – Every easy, and works well, I use the ‘automation’ so blinds close at sunset and open at sunrise and the blinds work well with ALEXA and Google Home. Plus the remotes you can buy separately work easily.

    Very happy with this little gadget, really simple to install (helps to watch the first video in the amazon photos). Slightly trickier to setup on the Smart Life app until I read a review that helpfully advised that it’s not Bluetooth, so the category to select is ‘curtain (other)’ and then it will let you put in your WiFi password to connect it up. The app will then control it on your phone. If you want to add Alexa support, search for the Smart Life skill and enable it, then on your Alexa app, set up a routine for opening and another one for closing (and you can choose what to say to make it work). Do all that and it all works like a charm….and it does feel like magic to make your blinds open just by telling them to!

    Really good unit and value for money
    Works great for what I wanted with a Dunhelm 1830mm blind.
    A bit fiddly to set up in google but I think that was more me than the unit.
    Would have been better if the power plug had been a right angle so that the wiring could be neater but all in all a very good unit.
    Need to take the spring out of the blind as this causes extra friction which the motor has to work against.
    As the blind us now driven it doesn’t need this spring.

    The first one I got was faulty as it would not stop at the points set, but the communication with Ajax Online has been the best I have come across and the new Motor works faultlessly, it works well with Alexa via the Smart Life app.

    I am disabled and being able to add my blind to operate with Alexa has made my life a little easire

    The product is easy to install and works as expected. I managed to connect it easily to the SmartLife app, and after two weeks the app is controlling the blinds as I want.

    Bought this just a few days ago, works really well with my blinds which are quite heavy infact, very good quality. Instructions are a bit unclear however Ajay responded to my email within five minutes, and he gave me his number and issue resolved within ten minutes, that is what I call excellent support. Really good, would recommend!

    Easy to fit,easy to pair and easy to follow instructions.
    The motor came with A4 simple to follow colour instructions for fitting and setting up with Amazon Alexa and Siri.
    It was super easy to install and easy to pair with Alexa.
    My partner struggled to open the blind due to its location and problems with rheumatoid arthritis. But now with the Alexa functionality and the smart life app the blind closes automatically at 1800 and opens at 0800.
    You might need to lengthen you blind bead string so that the motor isn’t halfway up your window frame which mine was but not s high problem as it solved a bigger problem.
    Highly recommended so far.

    Delivered very quickly and set up was very easy. The unit is well made and comes with detailed, easy to understand instructions. Within minutes it was up and running and connected to my Alexa system. An unexpected bonus, as I already had the Smart Life App up and running, Alexa automatically connected to the blind so I had to do nothing to get it working through that! Early days but very impressed so far! Thank you.

    Absolutely brilliant. Bought one of these and then another one. Five minutes to install and ten minutes to set up with Alexa. Works every time and I now have voice controlled roller blinds for a great price. Ignore the review that says they can’t set up via bluetooth, its not bluetooth and you set up via wifi. As long as you have 2.4g it’s perfect.

    Decided to automate my 3 blinds in our bay window, after looking round I decided to try the Ajax motor. Initially I purchased 1 unit to see how well it worked. It was so easy to set up and worked so well I have just ordered 2 more units.
    Instructions are good, had a bit of trouble with the recommended app for some reason but ended up using an existing app that I use for my smart sockets (eFamilyCloud) which worked well and immediately coonected to Alexa so I can control the blind with my voice.
    Well worth the money.

    Update 3: I initially had trouble with this blind motor given that I had received the wrong instructions, however I eventually managed to get the blind motor working.

    I then bought a second motor for my kitchen blind and that one came with the correct instructions and it worked great, I have both blinds setup on schedules, so I know that my blinds will open and close if I’m away for work.

    Recently though, my original blind motor started having problems, the ball chain would slip so the blind only opened or closed part,of the way. I realised that I had used the wrong cog wheel and like a fool I didn’t keep the two other wheels that came with the motor. A call to Ajax resulted in them send out a full set of replacement wheels free of charge. I have now put on the correct wheel and my blind motor is working again.

    Overall these two blind motors have been a great investment, I would certainly buy more if and when I get more binds.
