Excellent Action Camera
I have today received the AKASO V50 Pro SE Action Camera and I have to say this is excellent for the price. Build quality is top class and the picture quality is the same. The WiFi connection as with any Action Camera takes a bit of getting used to but with the Akaso app this makes things easier. The camera has plenty of settings to play with and the controls are very intuitive. My only problem was that the clear container was damaged that holds the camera in the packaging. This box is very handy for putting the camera on display when not in use. Hopefully Akaso U.K. will be able to replace it for me.
Awesome action Camera at a great price
I have been after an action camera for some time but was reluctant to pay GoPro prices. After a lot of searching and checking comparison reviews on YouTube I decided on the AKASO V50 Pro. I have not been disappointed, it looks and feels great and you certainly don’t get the impression it’s a budget camera. 4K videos at 30 FPS is more than enough for my requirements and having a spare battery is a great bonus. At the moment I have only set it up which was a breeze with the big test coming later in the month when I take it sea kayaking. I will update my review after that trip.
Fantastic Camera for the price.
I brought this camera for my daughters 10th birthday because she loves recording EVERYTHING!
It is compact, easy to use and really good quality for the price. The amount of accessories you get as standard is really impressive and there are many others available too.
We are yet to try the underwater functions but have used it to record some vlogs and some of the trails when out cycling. The image stabilisation works really well and could probably do a job as a dash cam in a car too.
The fraction of the cost of a GoPro but fantastic quality for the price! you would have to spend over double the get a GoPro with better quality than this and even then, you lose out on all the accessories too.
Awesome kit for the price- and super fast delivery
Very good build quality, good selection of accessories ( could do with an explanation card, as I am a novice) ease of downloading manual and app was great.
Picture quality very good, easy to set up and use, with either mobile or RF, remote control, band ( the only piece of kit that looks and feels cheap, could do with being waterproof, but then it was free! Image stabiliser works great with 1080P 60fps. First video playback was jumpy but all others after were good, so must have been a settling down of micro sd card with camera.
My first action camera so can’t compare with GoPro, but perfect for my needs and a fraction of the price.
Very happy!
brilliant bit of ki
aken lots of underwater pics and out and about. so small and neat only thing i would have liked is instructions as to what all the accessories were fo
Great product for price
Excellent product at this price point, touch screen is easy to use and accessory pack and extra batteries included with this product is very useful. Great buy for someone starting outdoor/adventure photography.
Good stuff in good price
Very good compromise between quality and price. In GoPro price you can have 3 and half AKASO or 1 AKASO and 250 keep in your pocket. Pictures and video quality in Very good. Remote control could have better quality but work well. Touchscreen is little bit slow (when you try do something you need press Very hard). Microphone is good and record ok up to 2m away. After need use other devices to record voice. Camera have plenty accessories and they are good quality also. To be honest this is very good product for money.
Brilliant Little Camera
Bought this to use when out cycling. Perfect either as a security camera monitoring your situation, or as an action cam recording the trail.
Great value for money motion action camera
Bought this camera for a bike tracking trip and was happily suprised at how easy it was to use and with the quality of the images and videos. It’s compact and comes with a range of accessories so all in all a happy customer.
Understated alternative to GoPro
Straight out the box, this camera has everything i need including image stabilisation, comes with a raft of other accessories too. I got the remote control app to work first time which is a real plus.. looking forward to recording some decent footage with it.
Easy to use, great quality, would recommend
Great little camera for a non techy person. Easy to set up and navigate. Only used a little but so far so good – excellent picture and video quality and perfect for my needs. Looked at the more expensive rivals but after reading reviews on Amazon and watching YouTube reviews opted for the Akaso v50 SE and glad I did. Would definitely recommend and great delivery from amazon too.
Hardest thing is getting it out the box
Honestly took me longer to open the box and get the camera off its mount than to set it up! very easy if you can follow instructions just search internet for Akaso v50 pro se instructions.
I set this up within 4-5 minutes on a galaxy s6lite tablet using the Wi-Fi connection (this is the Wi-Fi on device not your home Wi-Fi) once app set up, register device and you can set up the camera, view media and activate remotely the camera.
Things you may need to know.
Get a fast micro Sd, stands to reason if you are shooting video
The app is great for set up but download the video to your device/pc to view seamless video
People go on about 4K video — I’ve no idea, all I know is when I play it back through a Samsung 32 monitor it looks excellent.
Stabilization is great – ok it is not Hollywood quality but i like it.
Sound — seems ok but I do not talk a lot when underwater.
Remote is just splash proof — this would have been great for snorkelling as the unit is attached to face mask.
Is it as good as a GoPro? — I have got know idea but I’m not going to pay over 350 for something I’m going to use three or 4 times a year!
I am also surprised that no one has made add on lenses like you can get for mobile phone (just an idea)
Let’s be honest you get three batteries, a remote and loads of connections as well as the camera.
Definitely 5 stars for the price
Great value little camera
Great value compared to the big brand names. Looking forward to using it.
So far so good
Tested this out and connected it with the app and so far so good.will give the GoPro a good run for its money
Good Camera
Very good camera especially for the price compared to competitors. Image and colours are clear and it stabilises well. Very happy with the purchase.
I’ve previously owned an akaso brave 7 and a go pro hero 7 black. I prefer this camera to both of them ! . The gopro has more bells and whistles maybe , but for functions Im actually going to use I much prefer this camera . It comes with a bunch of accessories , 3 batteries and is like under half the price of the go pro. The still images are 20mb rather than the gopros 12mb and noticeably better quality. Image stabilisation appears to be fine and videos look good with a realistic degree of saturation etc.
Build quality is excellent , the screen isnt perfectly resposnive on occassion but neither it the gopro one.
The downside , well imho there are two , firstly lowlight isnt quite as good as the gopro . Secondly the app is as nowhere near as good as the gopro version . Tip use it with mobile data turned off cures several of the connection images , and clear out the app cache if it “forgets” your camera model.
Very impressive camera
I purchased this camera recently to upgrade from an older non-Akaso action camera. I couldn’t justify the price tag of the gopro hero variants and after reading reviews I decided this was the camera for me. The video quality in 4k is outstanding and dare I say its very close to comparable higher end action cameras. Image stabilization was also important to me and I’m happy to say that works really well on this camera, its not top end Gopro hero 8 class but its very acceptable.
Having a screen on the back is a bonus so you can actually see what you are shooting and the box comes with loads of attachments so you can pretty much fit the camera anywhere you want. The outdoor/underwater case included is also a nice touch. Although I don’t know if I’ll use it at this stage, there is an external mic port on the side if you wish out provide input from a better quality microphone.
You can also use the Akazo Go app to connect to the Wi-Fi access point of this camera which is also a bonus if you want to remotely control the camera or just view recorded footage. The menu system is easy to navigate which is important for any less technical people out there.
The unit can be quite thirsty on batteries but fortunately Akaso have thought about everything and included 3 batteries to keep you going longer.
On the whole a very good package at a competitive price.
Fantastic camera
Received this camera as a gift from my GF as I do a lot of cycling and it was so simple and easy to set up. Absolutely love it. Picture is really clear and sound is great.
JUST WHAT I'VE BEEN AFTER!!!
Fantastic sports camera! Got it for Christmas and have taken it out on my bike and it works a dream! Image stabilization is great and the video quality is up there with the best sports cameras going in my opinion! Definitely recommend for those who want to capture their sporting hobbies!
Great Camera!
I’ve had this for a while now, and it’s a great camera! I bought it to capture the magic moments of my twice yearly Thailand adventures. Great clear videos and photos. A wide range of features too. For the quality and price it’s a no brainer.Go grab yourself one!
V50 pro
This camera is great for surfing. It has great image stabilisation and with 3 battery’s included you will have loads of film time.
Good quality for it's price
It’s lightweight, easy to use. Touchscreen is responsive. Pictures quality on 1080p 60fps isn’t good as it expected. Overall is good camera for it’s price
Alot of punch for such a small projector.
Great little product, the sound on the system is not great but I used a separate speaker. All in all very pleased.
Amazing product and value for money.
Amazing value for money compared to GoPro. Comes with loads of accessories and more importantly three batteries which makes the battery life great. Would highly recommend. Video quality is top notch.
Great little action cam for outings or sport. Very impressed!
Easy to use, good little touchscreen and the video quality is very impressive for a camera this small. Lots of functions and video up to 60fps 4k is excellent!
-Make sure you buy a quick sd card so you can record at this setting though as it requires quick read and write speeds in order to achieve this high resolution/frame rate.
-The mounts it come with are cool and have used them to record a bike journey i went on. Stayed very stable and the video looks awesome.
Great choice action cam, very impressed with it 🙂
Excelle
Really good value-for-money camera – excellent 4K and stills. Much better value then Go Pro (overpriced nonsense)
Good for your money
Such an easy little camera to navigate. I feel the App could be improved a little more, but it does what it says on the box at a fraction of the price.
Comes with the accessories you need. Thinking about it I should have also bought the body-strap as well.
The App can be a little fiddly but you do get used to it.
Next Clip should be a skydive video for me
Poor quality accesories and customer service
Camera is amazing for the price, the customer service is excellent, the only issue I have is not being able to purchase a second waterproof case, hopefully they will be back in stock soo
It's a terrific camera, especially for the money. Knocks GoPro for a six.
No action camera I have researched has a long enough battery life for a horse rider. The problem is, when you’re on horseback, you can’t stop to take your camera apart to put in a fresh battery even though many horse rides take two or three hours. This camera has pretty good stabilisation and the battery lasts about 90 minutes, perhaps just a little less, which is more that I got from the GoPro. I tried the GoPro Hero7 Silver, which bricked after about a week, so I swapped it for a GoPro Hero7 Black which never had a battery life of more than an hour whatever I did to upgrade the software and switch off bells and whistles to conserve battery. I found them to be temperamental, expensive and inefficient. The Akaso is simple to operate, does what it is supposed to do and it comes with a lot more attachments than the GoPro. It’s a bit bulkier than the GoPro because of the waterproof casing but that is a very small detail. It’s not *that* bulky. I’m actually thinking of getting another so I can just pull out a whole new camera in the middle of a longer ride. It’s not a huge deal at this sort of a price. If only these cameras could get the battery life sorted out.
Great for the money
Am quite pleased with this wee camera. I wasn’t going pay the price of a go pro as I really only wanted the camera for holidays and occasional use. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how solid this camera feels and with its picture quality. Well worth the money. Especially considering the number of assessories you receive. Been great to be able to use it as a car cam in between adventures.
Great low cost alternative to more expensive models
bought this product specifically as a 4K replacement for a older GoPro, really to take advantage of the zoom/cutting of 4K video down to 1080p. The price was the main driver behind this camera, delivering a high quality picture for a fraction of the cost. Love the fact that it came with 3 batteries that are long lasting as shooting with my old camera was always limited by battery life. A great choice to a high quality, everyday action camera.
Easy to use with lots of extras
Easy to use, picture quality seems good looking forward to using it on our up coming ski trip. The mounting kit that comes with the camera makes it very versatile.
Great customer service
My original review was only 3 stars but have to bump it up due to excellent customer service
V50 Pro SE
Great little action cam, great quality photo and video, 3 batteries, remote, and more, no need to spend a fortune on other brands, this camera is very good.
A great little camera for the money
I was looking for a camera to use predominantly outside for my YouTube channel, and this camera had plenty of good reviews. One of the features I was looking for was being able to use an external microphone (sold separately). I tried the camera inside and outside and the picture quality is excellent. The sound quality through the internal mic is very good inside and outside with some background noise wasn’t bad, although I’ve since bought the specific mic which makes a lot of difference. The 3 batteries all hold a good charge and there are lots of useful extra accessories included. I’m very pleased with the camera and look forward to using it more. A great little camera for the price
Exceptional value and impressive quality.
Found the camera very easy to operate and set up and it included an array of useful accessories.
Photo and video quality excellent and exceeded expectations.
Good value
First good camera for the money, brilliant picture quality ,good image stabilisation i do not like distortion it creates, and i noticed couple issues after first day test…
2 out of 3 batteries not showing full charge after charging (1bar only) , will have to try again on another occasion and cant turn off camera after being connected to phones wifi what is very annoying, have to take battery out.
Great value for the money
I was looking for an action camera to complement my photographic gear, and this little thing looked exactly what I needed, and didn’t disappoint.
Picture quality is great, stabilization really helps, particularly on shaky movies (like when driving).
The included accessories also allow to cover a good range of usages, so that’s another interesting plus.
Only downside I would say it’s the documentation, I struggled a bit to understand what everything in the box actually was.
Overall, really recommended.
Brilliant camera for this price bk
The picture quality is brilliant for the price hopefully in summer I will be going to turkey and take good pictures and videos
Hitting way above it's weigh
Received the camera today and couldn’t of been any happier.
The quality of the build is great, better than any other non big player out there at the moment. The image quality in stills and video is great for the price of the hardware.
Great product that is hitting way high above it’s weight.
My thoughts on the Akaso V50 SE……With owning a Hero 7 Black and a Hero 5 Black, i thought i would just buy this camera for an everyday back up, WOW what a surprise, first off, the build quality is superb, the menu system is easy, the touch screen is fine, and you get a box full of attachments, the video quality is great for the price as is the photographs, okay the image stabilisation is not available at 4k 60fps and 1080p 120fps, but what do you expect for the price, i paid 114 with the Amazon offer, granted you do not get all the bells and whistles of a Gopro, but this camera comes extremely close, and for once the microphone is good the only downside, as with all action cameras, the low light footage is a bit grainy, would i recommend it….with out a shadow of a doubt, an absolute bargain, it is now my go to camera, on a footnote ..make sure you use a class 10 sd card
Nice piece of kit for the money!
So far so good, havent had time to use it in anger, but i am happy with the camera & the kit supplied within this deal. If it lives up to my expectations, it’ll be money well spent. I have also purchased a small case, extendable selfie stick & small stick to complete my kit. Just waiting for the sandisc 128gb sdxc card, before i can stsrt to use the camera…
I use this camera on my daily commute.
Excellent picture quality even in times of low light. My journey is very bumpy but the image stabilisation works really well, so no problem capturing high quality video.
Battery life is ok, but could be better. Haven’t bother with the remote, as looks like is needs syncing every time the camera is tuned on, might be worth checking.
This is an excellent camera and I would definitely recommend.
Great quality and great value for money
Love this action camera, took a few attempts to get used to it and the app is a bit hit and miss but overall really happy with it for the price. Once the photo/video has been downloaded from the app to your phone the quality is fantastic. Would recommend this camera.
Video quality superb.
The delivery of the camera was very fast and I have now had a little time to get to know it.
The video quality is clearly much better than my GoPro Hero 3+ which I bought it to replace.
Initial still photos on arrival were good and a couple of early issues were very quickly sorted by Sophia in Customer Care immediately so full marks to her.
I am taking it skiing over Christmas and am very excited to really put it through it’s paces filming the grandchildren.
Excellent Photo quality, super easy to use and very worth the money!!
I wanted a small, lightweight video camera for travelling that produced excellent quality – this does exactly that!! I didn’t want to have to pay for the massive GoPro prices but still wanted a good camera that I could easily take high quality videos on and not be scared about dropping it in puddles! The online manual is really helpful and helped me figure out how to use and adjust all of the different settings. I would 100% recommend this product.
Great little low cost camera
Bough mainly for track days and gives great image stabilization for half the cost of the big boys.
Super action camera
This little device is easy to use and super quality footage and photos. It comes with a great assortment of good quality accessories and the battery life is excellent. Fantastic value for money
Great little action camera
Great price for a really good action camera. Once you have got used to finding your way around the menus you will get great photos and video. I have only tried video at 1080 60 frames per second but the video quality is really good. Took the camera on the waterpark on holiday, it worked great which is more than can be said for my waterproof watch which did let water in….
At about 1/3 of the price of the leading action camera you can not go wrong with this.
Good product for realistic price
I want to share with you that the AKASO V50 PRO SE it’s a good product with a realistic price.
For sure, there is room for improvement, but I think it’s very hard to create an ultra high quality product at a lower price. One above the other I am happy with this product and I will use it in all my holidays to film.
I also recommend you to buy AKASO V50 PRO SE for their huge accessories package and 3 batteries (which for sure you’ll need them if you want to record footage in ~ 1 day)! 🙂
Pleased with my purchase
Bought the Akaso V50 Pro SE to help i.a. with dog training. For that reason the existence of image stabilisation, noise reduction and remote control were an important part of the decision-making process. Setting it up was straightforward and the extra battery and wrist band should prove very useful. I may even get a harness so that my dog can wear it!
Great alternative to GoPro
First camera was a dud but customer service went above and beyond to get me another one which works great.
Really happy with this camera
This is the fourth AKASO action camera I’ve bought in the last year (two were for my sons). I decided to upgrade to the V50 pro Special Edition and I am extremely pleased with this latest addition. The camera handles really well and is straightforward to use. I’ve filmed several bike rides and a local football match and I am very pleased with the results. The camera’s only a third of the price of it’s equivalent rival and, like all the AKASO cameras I’ve had before, represents fantastic value for money. Highly recommended.
The video was shot with the camera in 1080p 60fps, eis on (electronic image stabilisation) and auto low light. The camera was chin mounted to my helmet and in its waterproof case.
Day time footage comes out Really impressive given the price of the camera. Night time….. well I have seen much better but also much worse. At this price point I may be wrong to expect good quality at low light but the camera has a low light setting and a night setting.
Never use the night setting for videos! everything blurred, same as 1080p 30fps. For night stick with the settings above and for dashcam/motorcycle cam its fine.
In the night time footage you hear me talk, my colleague and I use motorcycle communicators between us when we go for rides. I deliberately used bits where I talked as I was really impressed with how well my voice came across given the camera was in its waterproof case and outside my helmet. (the mention of a red light was the fact as we rounded a corner it looked like the lights were red so we slowed down…. only they were not for our lane….dodgy placement. Realised as I watched the video back it sounded like we went through red lights lol)
Lots of videos I saw before buying showed the 4k 30fps or 4k60fps, well I dont need 4k I chose a camera capable of it so I would know its true 1080p and this does seem to be.
Is this a GoPro killer? well no, ofcourse its not its a third of the price. It is however perfectly suited for the needs of a motorcyclist.
Time stamp. One of my niggles with the camera is the date is formatted as Year/month/day time thats a bit strange here in the uk but usable. Also every timestamped camera I have used prior to this made the text black when it detected a white background to make text clearer. This camera does not do that and it does make it hard to see the timestamp in bright light.
Overall image quality of the road and cars is good when the sun is low enough to be right in front of the camera, for dashcam/motorcycle cam thats perfect as the road is where we want to be recorded! (have yet to be hit by a car falling from the sky, come close to being hit from cars on the road though lol)
I originally recorded at night at 1080 30fps and the video was so bad I got hold of the company to ask how to fix it. I discovered the 1080p 60fps fixed the blurring at night before the response but I found the company to be very helpful. Great customer care is something that gets overlooked in these reviews but with expansive electronics it is a must, I feel confident that if I have any issues with the camera in the first year I will be covered.
Batteries, an important topic! With the camera chin mounted in the waterproof case its not easy getting the camera out to change the battery but I found at the settings above I got nearly 2 hours on one battery. The camera comes with three batteries and an external charger (charges two batteries via usb) the batteries seem to take about an hour and a half to two hours to charge. So with an external usb battery pack (I use an anker one) you can keep the batteries charging in your bag. The batteries grip in the charger well so not likely to fall out unless you hit too many potholes. The charger is smart enough to stop asking for current once the batteries are charged. The camera also did not lose any settings on swapping the battery over, though I always aimed to do so as speedy as possible. When the battery did run out on a test run it saved the video file before shutting down.
The usb cable…. ah man, why oh why did they use such an out dated connection? its a mini-b connector. I threw all my mini-b usb cables out a long time ago. You would expect a usb-c or at the very least a micro usb. This is the biggest reason for the 4 stars not 5 stars (its right up there with the poor night quality). If I lose that cable I will not be able to charge my camera batteries or transfer videos. for some this may be a minor issue. On the plus side at least its not a proprietary connector that some cameras come with.
Transfer speed. The camera uses usb 2.0 (again in 2019 that is disappointing) but the speed was not that bad, I copied 18gb of video in under 20 minutes. The huge plus here is that you can watch videos on your pc with the camera plugged directly into the usb. On go pro I have always had to copy them first. There is ofcourse the rear screen.
File size etc. There are two codecs the camera uses h.264 and h.265 the later results in nearly half the file size (a 128gb sd card with my settings gets about 17 hours of recording space at h.265 and around 9 at h.264) there is no difference in quality that I could see between the two. However sony vegas 15 did not like h.265 and I needed to use handbrake to convert them first. H.264 was recognised immediately and is what the source videos for the attached video was recorded with. For me its easier to use the more supported older codec, knowing that when h.265 is more supported I can use it with a press of a few buttons is good though. The sd card is formated in fat32 so the standard 4gb file limit is in effect, but the camera does a great job of just automatically creating a new file with no loss.
I am sure there is more I could cover on the camera but these are the important things to me. Hope the review helps. At the end of the day would I recommend the camera? yes…and I have
On sunny days this is a fantastic little camera
I was impressed with the video quality of this little camera. I mostly shoot videos in 1080p 30 or 60fps and during sunny days it does a wonderful job. The 6 axis image stabilization is good, not as good as GoPro’s but those are 3 times more expensive, so quite happy with it. You will get lots of accessories in the box (elegant presentation and easy to open) and two batteries. A fully charged battery lasts around two hours in 1080p. The touch screen is not the most responsive in the action camera universe but not bad either as long as you have a little bit of patience. The remote watch is cheap junk and feels that it can break anytime but mine is still in one piece starting and stopping the recording… sometimes. All in all I’m pleased with my purchase, I will update this review if anything changes.
Brilliant value for money
Brilliant value for money, perfect image and plenty of ancillaries come included. Worth every penny.
Excellent for the price. Better than a GoPro in some aspects.
I have owned a few GoPro’s and they have produced some great footage, however, I have had many problems with the firmware, causing the touch screen to freeze or for the camera to stop recording for no reason and without warning. Frustrating if you are trying to catch footage that is difficult to duplicate. To me, this was unacceptable for the price. I bought this camera from a recommendation of a friend. This camera is a fraction of the price of the GoPro and although I have not used it for long, I am impressed with the quality of the build, image and accessories. With a GoPro you need to buy these accessories separately, this comes with everything you would need. The image stabilization is great, not as good as the Hero7 Black, but for my purposes (mostly surfing, hiking and mountain biking) this has produced a nice steady image and incredible 4k video. You won’t be disappointed with your purchase.
Buy fast micro sd card
Small box with big surprise. Its a really great action camera with amazing features like RF, wifi and image stability.
Audio is good not great but at this price it would not be fair to complain.
Only issue i had which i didnt know about is to buy a fast memory card to make the camera work in 4k.
Boss action camera
Great little action camera never had one before went out on the motorcycle today excellent video and the stabilization was boss just struggling getting WiFi connected I put that down to me being 70 and struggling with technology but I will get the hang of it would certainly recommend it A+++++++
A great little camera for a reasonable price.
There’s not much to dislike about this camera when you consider the price. The touch screen is nice and responsive, the menu system easy to use and wifi easily connects. The camera does struggle in low light but selecting “Night” mode helps. I also noticed that shadow areas lacked some definition but for the price I wasn’t expecting any better. Using the image stabiliser helps getting rid of shaky images, it’s not as good as using a gimbal stabiliser but with the money you save, there’s plenty left for one, if required. The accessories that come with the camera are good and this model has three batteries, which is another boon.
Great value and 4k
everything was good as i expected, had a problem with wifi connection but customer service sent me link for firmware update, then connected perfectly.
Great little product, my 12 year old son loves it.
Great product, neat and compact. Would have been helpful to have known about needing a seperate SD card before purchase though.
Great quality for the price!
I received this yesterday and I still didn’t get the chance to try it as I didn’t buy the SD Card yet but so far I’m impressed.
The camera is really compact, it comes with lots of additional pieces. Also the waterproof case is amazing and resistant.
Best part is that it comes with 3 batteries!
Excellent camera
This is a great little camera, good video and photographs. Easy to use, comes with plenty of useful accessories including 3 batteries and a separate charge dock.
Well worth the price and a great alternative to a go-pro. Highly recommend
Got this camera for a wee holiday and was very happy with it, used it to video and take stills on a cycle trip and it did a great job.
It’s a great camera to get started with or even for use as a dashcam, the image stabilisation is pretty smooth and works well in the car or cycling/walking around. The audio is pretty clear and picks up well too.
The camera itself is pretty small, I used it on a rucksack strap mount and it was no wider than the strap itself so it’s easy to forget it’s there and just get on with things. It comes with a bunch of handy accessories like the waterproof housing and a small mountain of different mounts to use.
Oh and 3 batteries, yes the camera comes with 3 batteries, I found that the batteries give me a bit over an hour each of continuous video – probably an hour & 15 mins but I just set a timer for the hour on my watch and changed it each hour. And with the 3 batteries you get a double slot charger and the batteries seem to charge back up pretty quickly, it’s USB too so you can charge them off a power bank.
Setting it up is easy, there may have even been a guide for it in the box but you won’t need it, it’s all just touchscreen menus and totally straightforward as is using it, one button for on, one button for record, simple.
Overall I’m very pleased with it especially for the price, I managed to snag mine on a lightning deal but really even at full price it packs a good wee punch for the money.
Way better than GoPro
We got this product and began to use it instantly. It comes with a lot of attachments and the 20MP camera makes a huge difference even the best GoPro version does that have this. Its why we went with AKASO over GoPro. The value for money and the specializations were the reasons why we picked AKASO
Wow! GoPro Killer!
The camera is amazing! The wrist remote isnt brilliant for motorcyclists wearing gloves but it isn’t terrible.
The video quality is frankly excellent for the money, up against a friend’s GoPro Hero 7 set both to identical settings, barely any difference the GoPro is marginally clearer and more stable at 4k@30fps, I haven’t really bothered with the mic as my bike has a stock exhaust and sounds bit pants tbh.
The accessories that come with are also excellent l, I have side mounted to my helmet and really want to get other mount blocks for my other helmets as well! Only thing 6hr adhesives are terrible, stuck to the helmet absolutely fine but not to the actual mount foot (see pics 2&3) but I’m going to apply some 2part epoxy to rectify this and stop the camera falling off from time to time (the tether does a very good job, I tether mine to my helmet itself and to the goggles which are secured to helmet by a strap on the back).
Definitely worth the low money, I may get one or 2 others over next month’s to mount directly to bike.
great camera for a great price
i did a lot of research before buying this camera; i found it after seeing lots of great reviews on youtube, comparing it to the much higher priced go pro. i went for this model of the range because of the wide range of features and ability to film in 4k 30fps and 60fps, and in 120fps at 1080. the item was shipped quickly, packaging is of a high standard and it comes with a plenty of features. even has 3 battery packs ! overall very impressed and excited to take it on my holiday!
Wow
Bought for a diving trip this summer. So far so good in terms of design and ease of use. Comes with loads of accessories and a great first action camera. Worth thE money.
Perfect Go Pro Alternative
I bought this Camera to do some Underwater Video on Holiday, as it comes with a Case which can go down to good Scuba depths of 30-35M, but I’ve also used it a number of time to make short Work Video’s for Social Media. It works a treat. Video Quality is Good at 4K 60, Audio Quality is Good, and this SE addition of the V50 pro has the external Mic input, stabilisation at 4K 30 is also Good. Sofware may not be quite as in-depth as a Hero 7, but it has most things, and the Phone App also helps set up the camera. Some more features here would be nice, BUT at the price, you cannot complain at all. less than half the cost of a Hero 7, and with more accessories… I have had some emails with Akaso to upgrade the firmware as I like to have the latest software, and they are so helpful. You will not be disappointed.
Really great product and price
Really great product for the price, for what you get and the product you’d expect it to cost a bit more. Thank you
Terrific alternative to the market leade
I bought this camera because I am doing more trail off-road cycling at the moment and am about to jet off on holiday for what might be my last family holiday with all the kids, as the eldest is heading to uni. I wanted a capable system that wouldn’t break the bank, but needed to be high performance or not worth the effort. This doesn’t disappoint. Very good performance and packaging and the three batteries is a real bonus. Came the next working day. Only improvement I’d like is for the remote to be waterproof, but the remote is a bonus anyway, so really can’t complain. Excellent kit.
An amazing action camera!!! 5stars for sure
I looked at all the reviews of this camera and all the alternatives including the new hero 7 silver but during side by side video comparison the Akaso v50 pro se smashed it out of the park!!
Plus with all the included extras this camera real is a steal.
I’m looking forward to filming my travelling experience through Thailand and Australia with this camera!
Great for air, land and water!
First action camera, didn’t want to pay silly money for a GoPro when this does the exact same if not better! Used for skydiving and scuba diving! Absolutely perfect, great filter and stabilisation!
Very satisfied
Plainly and simply, amazing value for money. It does everything I want it to for less than half the price of a “you know what”. If you like your money and don’t want to be ripped off by names; Buy Akaso!
Great little camera
This little thing has been pretty good so far. The video quality is really good, especially seeing as it’s so much cheaper than a GoPro. I would really recommend buying this over the more expensive options.
Great camera for the price. Really happy with purchase
I have used this camera on a recent holiday and was pleasantly surprised. The camera quality is great, played around with a few settings and had no problems with switching modes.
I used the camera underwater in the case they provided and again was glad that no water ingressed. The microphone sounds as good as is needed. I can clearly hear myself and the surroundings in the shots without speaking overly loud.
I used the camera in mainly 4K/ 30 fps and dropped to 1080p/60 fps to see if i noticed a difference in EIS when using the device but all seemed even. I think i shall have to play around with the FoV of the camera next time as I was shooting a bit too wide for my liking, that is very much a personal gripe as my friends were happy with the shots.
The camera did freeze once and required the battery to be pulled before working again. I think this was just a mashing of many buttons that caused it and no doubt a software update will fix this issue.
All in all, i was happy and would buy from AKASO agai
32m & 16m dives no leaks good pics & videos
Dive mode is a bit green though I’ll set it up differently myself.
Download to phone is ok one vid @ a time or it crashes & battery lasted well enough.
Only needed 2 buttons I’m quite impressed as I got an apeman last week that broke before the dive then new case broke & flooded on 25m dive killing the camera.
This one looks like it has a much better dive case strap.
Only issue is deep dark dives my torch upset the camera & I got lines all over the video so I’ll move the camera off the torch mount I think it was too bright too close.
So far so good I have had a few of these types & there usually a pain to get pics off or can’t handle light changes or flood on a dive.
Great 4K action cam
I wanted a 4K action cam to be used on family holidays, both winter sports and summer holidays in and out of the water. I read / watched lots of reviews on Amazon and YouTube finally settling on the Akaso V50 Pro SE and I am pleased with my choice.
The image quality is superb in bright sun light or indoors but I have not tried it outdoors after dark, that is not what I wanted the camera for anyway. We have not yet tried it underwater as I don’t think my slightly murky garden pond would be a good indication of the camera / housings performance.
The menu system is easy to navigate though some of the settings are in general settings not where you would expect to find them, I am thinking the angle of view here which I could not find until I turned off the image stabilisation when it appeared.
The iSmart Pro+ app works well on my iPhone allowing easy access to all the menus and a live stream video from the camera. Remember to start wifi on the camera and set the wifi on your phone to the camera as the access point. We have tried the app on an andriod phone but not yet made a connection. More investigation needed there I know the camera is fine and suspect the andriod app to be not getting on well with my son’s phone.
I am looking forward to our summer holidays without my usual fear of dunking cameras in the sea.
Great camera, definitely worth the money!
Bought the camera for a holiday to Mexico. The photos are fantastic quality and the video recording is great. It comes with lots of attachments. Definitely recommend, just as good as a go pro!
Really good cameras
This is the second Akaso camera we bought. They produce very high quality photos and videos and are easy to use, at a fraction of the price of other brands.
Great camera and very pleased with all the accessories
Really pleased with this. It’s so tiny. Works great too
I’ll be honest, I bought this camera as I wasn’t prepared to pay for a GoPro. My main attraction was the fact the battery on this camera is interchangeable, and it comes with 2 spare batteries. I also bought, separately, a 128GB SD card as I’m going to Thailand for a month soon and want to be able to take lots of photos and videos, all while not worrying about battery life!
I’ve only had the camera for a day but I’ve played around with it’s fair bit. Photo quality is very good. There are modes like burst and filter if you happen to want those features. The video is good too but I’m yet to properly experiment with image stabilisation.
The camera is easy to use, touch screen is good. Menu is straight forward and easy to navigate. It’s easy to connect to iPhone as well, as the camera has WiFi built in and the App is good, offering an easy way to move photos from camera to phone.
It also comes with a remote and other accessories such as a wrist strap, dash mount, waterproof case to name some.
Overall so far very happy with my purchase. Looking forward to my holiday now so I can use it properly!
Excellent little Action Camera - Premium Quality at an affordable price.
Camera is GoPro quality but of the price. Touch screen is superb. Makes everything easy. Picture / Video quality is exceptional. Really like the feel of this little camera. Very much a quality product.
Worth the pennies
I tried out my camera which i had received from Amazon and it work flawlessly. I tried out the video at 4K @ 30 FPS and it was pretty good. Also toyed around with angle of viewing and quite satisfied. I have brought to take it on my upcoming holidays , I hope it works as well it does now. It was a good option to buy compared to GoPro if you dont want to invest in gopro. I have bought it as a complement to my DSLR
Worried because of price
I was a bit worried due to it’s price compared to other more popular brands. But It seems as though I worried for nothing. For the price I am amazed by what you get for your money. I am very glad I took the plunge and brought this item. We are going to Egypt soon and it will be coming with us. Buy with confidence and save loads by not getting the bigger name brands. I am now buying more for the family.
Good value for money
Bought the V50 Pro SE version as it seemed to have the best bits of the Elite and V50 pro combined. 4k 30fps or 1080 at 120fps seem to be the sweet spot. Distortion correction works well but can only be used when Image Stabilisation not on. Audio isn’t great but satisfactory. Picture quality seems very good so far although I’m still experimenting. One thing to note is that even when set on ‘unlimited file length’ unless on loop recording it records in 3.97GB ‘lumps’ so the video time depends on the quality of resolution you set. Bit annoying so have marked it down 1 star. Despite this, all in all I’ve been pleased so far as I wasn’t going to pay GoPro prices for my first action camera and this seems to give a good amount of ‘bang for the buck’.
Picture quality seems less than 4k but that might be because of lighting conditions.
Solid feel to this camera and lots of accessories in the box.
The app is easy to use.
Picture and video quality are decent.
Not as sharp as my smart phone but adequate.
I had previously brought a cheaper ‘4k action camera’ that was terrible and i returned so i was a little skeptical of paying 3 time the amount for the V50 Pro SE but i’m so happy i did. Before sending back the cheaper camera i did some A/b video and the difference is staggering. This camera is very close to the Hero 7 Black that a friend has. Is it 100% the same no but for a 1/3rd of the price it is amazing. Seems well built, the touch screen is responsive enough and the native 4k looks really good on a 4k display; nice sharp and vivd colours and the EIS is good too.
I mainly will use it with a tripod for wide angle recording of sport and it seems perfectly suited without the silly price tag.
Ideal for sports
Did not even use unfortunately ordered for car purpose but ended up returning and purchasing a dash cam through Amazon so cannot comment on performance or quality of item but look nice
Great Product, Fast Delivery
Read a lot of reviews on different action cameras, I was nervous on purchasing something that wasn’t a go pro, but the price played a big part. I was not disappointed. What a great camera! Easy to you, great functions and great cost. Don’t waste money on over priced cameras. This is an excellent product!
I love it, an excellent action camera. The AKASO V50 is small, compact and easy to use and comes with accessories.
I used it on holiday and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the video recordings and pictures.
“For 4k 60fps video recording, you need an extreme pro microsd card”
I’ve tested it with the Android App(ismart pro+) from my phone and the Watch Remote what a bit fiddly for me but it works. A software update for the android app(ismart pro+) would be nice. I have noticed that after you connected to your phone, then can’t exit , only way that to pull out the battery.
Otherwise, I am satisfied with the purchase. Good value for money.
GoPro quality at a great price.
This camera is great value for money. Video and build quality is comparable with a go pro at a fraction of the cost. Image stabilisation works well and 4K footage looks great. Comes with a good bundle of accessories too. Highly recommended.
Love these cameras
Third Akaso camera i have purchased. Really fantastic value for money. These are used to record action from racing hovercraft and produce flawless results.
Great value
Excellent action camera for the price. Took it on a horse riding trip and got fantastic images and great image stabilization on videos. Would recommend
I am a cameraman by profession, and own quite a few cameras. Also an everyday bike rider doing a 65miles daily commute. I use action cameras for both purposes every day. I am always on a market for a camera that close enough quality than the GoPro, but without being overpriced. This one was made me very curious for two reasons. One is the adjustable view angle, the other is the electric stabilisation system. I really wanted to know if it’s possible to do that kind of wichcraft on stabilisation that GoPro does, but for an affordable price. The answer is almost. The video attached is with EIS on, walking casually not focusing on stability that much. Not bad at all. Just a touch less effective than the big guys. I am absolutely happy with it. The adjustable view angle is brilliant, if you want to eradicate the fisheye effect and distorted sides for artistic purposes. But the 170 degrees is there as well when you want the biggest possible frame but don’t care about anything else, like when I do my commute and want to film the journey.
The camera comes with and exceptionally big amount of accessories, which is amazing and also unheard of when you buy from the big guys, you have to pay extra for everything. Not here though. If you have a suction cup mount on top of it you are basically sorted for every possible scenario. Very impressive. Build quality is good. Again, a tiny bit feels cheaper then the big guys, but definitely not as big difference that the price suggests. The touchscreen is usable but I don’t like the fact that when the camera is in its case you have to do everything with that two buttons which can be a bit confusing sometimes. I’m sure that I will get used to it, but I am not convinced just yet. I always had a problem with battery life, as they do an hour, hour and a half, but take substantially longer to charge it up, which grounds the whole kit as they are charging through the camera. This one though different. Amazingly generous move, that this one comes with 3! Batteries and a separate desktop charger with 2 slots. So two of the three can be on the charger continuously and the camera can work nonstop. One more positive thing about it that the automatic white balance is closer to the reality than the GoPro.
To summarise it, this is almost as good as the big guys, but not even close to that price. Very very good.
The best action camera
After a big search for the best go pro alternative camera I’ve choose the AKASO V50 PRO SE, and it was a GREAT choice.
This is a great camera. Arrived before the estimated time, well packaged with everything promised in the box.
touch screen easy to use and navigate around menu.
See my first pictures, very accurate colours I’m so impressed
Get the right SD card!
Impressed with the whole package – shame a head strap is not included, but plenty of other useful attachments and good to have spare batteries and a charger.
Having previously used a bullet action camera I was a little unsure about this type of camera – I’m already converted. Video and photo quality is excellent – easy to use and go through functionality with manual. Initially couldn’t video, only take pictures, with a message “card low speed!” – just purchased a 128GB Sandisk microSDXC, which resolved the issues – worth highlighting it in the manual.
Good options for image angles reducing distortion from wide angle to medium and narrow. Very impressed with the image stabilisation – looking forward to taking it underwater – definitely an excellent, economic alternative to GoPro.
Very good
Arrived today, very good quality pictures 20m and video 4k60
Excellent quality camera
Excellent quality camera and images. The EIS is satisfactory with images but I have a gimbal for stable pictures anyway. Excellent price for the quality of camera.
