It’s a very fun game for all ages.

Warning for men: make sure you have a switch of your own as you will lose it to the wife and kids if you purchase this game!

A non-violent game for kids, teenagers and adults.

Pretty enjoyable, but lack of instructions means searching online for how to do things.

Amazing game! So happy to have bought this game, it has kept me occupied throughout lockdown. I love how much there is to do and the processes of making your island better.

Such a good game, 110% recommend, although slow in the beginning couple of days. I’d say the only downside is the wait of a day for buildings to be built, other than that it is definitely a game where you could but tens of hours in without being bored.

    AMAZING!!!

I brought this based on reviews, I’ve been playing a while and the game is fun, you build your own little island, I just find it really hard to move on quickly it’s so slow I’m stuck trying to get 30 iron nuggets for the shop been over a week now, I don’t have any friends so can’t just visit islands without wasting nook miles, it is a fun game to play but some days I feel like I get nowhere it’s defo a long term commitme

Got a switch for Christmas so I knew I had to invest in AC. Never played it before so I wondered what the hype was about. Gotta say I love it, it’s such a relaxing game – if you like Sims you’ll like this, it’s so cute and colourful

Never played any AC before, I was very curious aboit all the talking about this series.
What can I say, I played for 400h and I loved every hour played.
Very different game, it is super enjoyable and it gets very addictive.
Bought it in May and my gf still plays it.
It is not perfect of course, but if you never played it and want to try something different it is a great choice.

After the nightmare of 2020 I decided to treat myself to Animal Crossing New Horizons and I have zero regrets. Its a wonderful relaxing game to escape lifes stresses and obtain new stress from indebting yourself to Mr Tom Nook. Great fun to build, decorate and vist friends islands lots to do and already I have far more hours in this game than I care to mention.

This game is worth playing during lockdown and you can show of your Island once you have grind enough coins. The best way to grind coins is fishing and selling a lot of stuff but it will take you a while. The package arrived on time and it was well presented.

Brought this the missus for Xmas.
TBF I’m not really into it as a gamer myself, but the missus loves it and it keeps her quiet for a few hrs so I won’t complain.

Really pleased with this! I had previously bought a download code for the game when it first came out so I bought this version for my sister for Christmas. She loves it! This is the cheapest I could find it unless buying secondhand but I couldn’t afford to rely on postal delivery in the current climate, so amazon prime it was! Great game for all ages, very non-offensive, easy going. I recommend it 🙂

I don’t think that this is the best Animal Crossing game, this is easily one of the weaker entries. The progression is quite slow but it’s fun nonetheless, it’s also worth the price so I would pick it up if you like Animal Crossing or you’re more into casual simulation games.

Not the best in the series but still good!

Bought for my 13 year old and she is thoroughly enjoying the game. You do have to wait for certain tasks to attend to after 24hrs to get further achievements but can still play game in that time while waiting.

Great fun for all ages…Super calming music and the graphics are amazing…It’s a little slow at the start but once you’ve put a few hours in, it’s the same excellent AC experience 🙂

You can get as creative as you’d like…I love that things change with the seasons, just when you think your done or what can i do next the season changes and with that comes new adventures.

They have added a lot more content since the previous games you can now progress at your own pace with no pressure to do certain tasks straight away. It has all the same lovable characters and content from previous games with a lot of exciting new elements.

Haven’t had the mole yet… So not to sure if his still around LOL

Bought for Christmas present. Our daughter had to guide us through exactly what was desired by her daughter, so we just ordered the game. No doubt we’ll find out at Christmas how to play it, but I don’t expect to become proficient at the first go!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is definitely a game that no one should enjoy when i first heard about it i though how boring I don’t want it at all but i kept hearing the hype about it again and again so i though lets go for it and see what the fuss is all about and WELL!!!!! I’m so glad i did I absolutely love this game and i can spend hour after hour on this without getting bored at all its so addictive and enjoyable you just do simple things which seem so much fun i don’t know how they managed to make a game like this so good but WOW its cute and quirky you’ve always got something to do in the game and you are always looking forward to the next day to see your little island and what’s happening there that day the playing value is endless because it not a usual game that you complete and move on its continuous and i love every thing about this game its so casual and layback you can just wind down with this game anytime of day and night and I’ve found myself having to force myself off this game at 4am in the morning to get some sleep I can’t recommend this game enough the graphics are beautiful the gameplay is well made and the controls work perfectly all the time I LOVE ANIMAL CROSSING what a weird but fantastic game highly recommended

A game that no one should enjoy BUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Great game! Endless fun! Only point that I can think of as an improvement is smoother online connectivity, and ability to find and play with friends online more easily! Perhaps a local common island that can be visited for those in different servers that allow them to meet and interact with other Animal Crossing New Horizons players! Even set up a little market place to sell duplicate DIYs and other items. That would be a really great update for this game!

I bought this as it looked absurd and slightly interesting. I became hooked. It has been my go to, after each day of home working – which is in mental health, continuously listening to anxious and depressed people. It fortunately overlook my previously acquired lockdown habit of a nightly g&t. I thought the game may have finished when KK Slider came to play on my island today and the credits rolled. My partner briefly cheered at its demise. Fortunately this is not the end though and the game goes on and on …. v good in these covid times.

YAY! Doesn’t stop when the credits roll.

Bought for husband’s birthday along with a Switch. I’m not a gamer but he said I might like this and we could sometimes play together (no zombies, blood, gore or aliens). OMG what’s happened to me!!! For the last few days I’ve been fishing, chopping trees, catching bugs, planting coconut trees, stung by wasps and paying off moving costs to the island. In fact I’ve played so much I’ve bought my house and now extending it Hubby said he’s restricting my time on it from now on, said I’m addicted to it, which actually means I’m collecting more fossils for the museum than him! I absolutely love this game and highly recommend for any age. Nothing nasty, no shooting, no bad language just fun.

This game is lovely, it’s very slow moving and time consuming, but we have had hours and hours of use from it, it can essentially go on as long as you want it too, it does have a “goal” but that doesnt end the game. As an adult I find playing it very relaxing.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSo, as an animal crossing fan, when this new game came out, I simply HAD to get it! I purchased it here on Amazon as it was the best price, & was inclusive of speedy free prime delivery, so I could not go wrong. In actual fact, I also purchased a second game as a birthday gift, & had it delivered straight to them, which was great, & they were, & still are, thrilled with this!
For those of you who’ve not played animal crossing before, & for those of you who have, this game is deffo worth buying as it has HOURS & each day of game play! It is timed to real-time, & the real date, & not only does this game change weather, change seasons in accordance to our actual seasons, but it also celebrates all the various festive events throughout the year too, like Halloween, Christmas etc. Each day on the island is different!
This game consists of you being a little person, who you can customise, & you set up camp on an island, & its your job to develop the island so that new guests move to the island, & your job to take care of the island & its renovations, which involves having to make by various means, – shaking trees, collecting fruit, fishing, catching bugs, digging fossils, & even swimming in the sea! – & more! – all of which are fun activities to do, & you get to see your island develop. Whats more is you get to customise your house, expand your house, change your outfits, & even create your own custom designs for clothing, wallpaper, floor etc, so this game has a creative aspect to it too. This game is just so addictive! You actually look forward to playing on it the next day, as each day progresses through the period of the day just like our own, & no 2 days are the same!
I would deffo highly recommend this game, & its not just for kids, as I’m an adult & I know this is a fave game for adults too! Here on Amazon its pretty much always at the best price, if you are shopping around & looking for the best price, & delivery is included too, so its deffo worth its price, & buying on here.
I hope this review has been helpful, & don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions

Such an amazing game, I bought this game to help my anxiety during the lockdown periods of 2020. I now have over 300+ hours in the game as it helps me relax so much after a hard day. I recommend it to anyone who owns a switch. Also arrived earlier than expected delivery date

Animal crossing is a really fun game and is very creative because the characters are able to get equipment and has the abilities to get them out anytime. Most games just make the characters walk around and do nothing. You can also give them gifts and invite players to your island from the second day onward. You can also get a ticket to fly to an island to invite characters to your island to live there. I recommend animal crossing.

its a grest idea for a game, if you like to investigate and don’t want a slow paced game then this is great. It will not save anyome elses game so only one person can play this game unless you wipe the record of it which is really silly as even if you bought 2 games its the console that records it so makes no difference

My daughter seems to love it and it keeps her from getting board.
It is a plastic cartridge you plug in to your switch, arrrh but that’s not it!
So you go to the shop and buy a game, you would think that would be it but NO!
It is just a key to download it, and I don’t mean it is a key code for the game without the cartridge, basically it is unplayable unless you download the rest. Why bother with the Cartridge? Also why are the downloads more expensive than the physical copy?
    NINTENDO MADDNESS!!!!
Oh don’t forget to sign in to your parent account 50 times before they get to play.
I am a tech nerd and i find this stuff a pain, God help a technophobe!

There is nothing I can add that another patron hasn’t already. Had my first Animal Crossing on the original DS and fell in love with it, that may of been 15 years ago. I actually remember playing it and being excited to see the flowers I planted grow or see my property expand (I was a lot less jaded back then) Obviously it builds upon everything before it in everyway and I actually couldn’t get a copy at the start of Covid. The one game I didn’t pre-order and it sold out everywhere, sods law.

This game begrudgingly reminds me of when I thought the world could be a nice place, friendly people and everyone gets along. I know better now, which is why a grown man still plays a “life simulator” with cute characters on a brightly coloured tropical island, I need that mind-set sometimes.

  40. LynneX05fw says:

     United Kingdom

It’s Animal Crossing. What more do you really need to know? If you’ve played and enjoyed the series before, this is probs the most comprehensive version yet, so it’s also the best way for newcomers to enter the series. If you don’t like the series, this won’t change your mind.

One thing about New Horizons that even longtime fans could be caught off guard by is the lack of so many features from previous games. This content is getting patched in through updates sure, so this review is inevitably going to be irrelevant, but playing it now, even 4 months after launch, it does not feel like an 100% finished game. Even though the updates are free, people are still going to have to continually pay for online membership to play with friends when the new content comes out, compared to paying for like a three month membership and be done with it. This is going to continue until at least December, seeing as Holidays content is also being added in this manner. Its just a way for players to be forced to keep playing and paying for this game. I know Animal Crossing is meant to have a long shelf life anyway and most people pay for Switch Online Membership irregardless, but it’s still a pretty suspect way to reinforce this.

So yea, to wrap it all up, you could probably say that this is the best ever and most exhaustive Animal Crossing entry, but you won’t be able to say that with absolute certainty for another few months, at the least.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is the best game ever, and thank god for it. I’m currently on furlough from work due to the Coronavirus, this game has been my life saver and when I have felt anxious or worried it has kept me sane.

I have always loved Animal Crossing and played the previous games, but by far this is the best one I find it relaxing, very addictive and saved many an argument over the remote control for the TV. Its fun for adults and I can imagine for older children it could be educational, such as having to work for money (or in this case Bells and Nook Miles), paying a mortgage off, also finding out about different Critters. When you donate a new fish/bug or fossil Blathers the wise old Owl from the museum will tell you a little about the item you are donating. Also you can design things, decorate your own house and keep friends with your neighbours, this is just a selection of the activities included.

There is so much involved and so much to do once you have helped build the basics of the island like where you want to live, the Museum, Town Hall, Shops and assisted new residents to move to your island you pretty much free to do what you want. You have the usual change of seasons, catching bugs, various fish (which change over the year) and finding fossils but a recent update now sees us deep sea diving for various sea creatures. You still have the usual tournaments and annual events such as Halloween and Easter.

What makes this Animal Crossing different is that when you arrive at your chosen island it is deserted and you are limited to where you can go on the island, you have no ladder to climb the cliffs and a vaulting pole to vault across the rivers, so choose wisely, the aesthetics of island does not really matter as you are able to terraform the land later. As you have no equipment or furniture and no means to buy them as the game progresses you go from flimsy tools to more robust equipment, you also get recipes to build a whole range of furniture and accessories

You also have a choice between the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere, and you get the seasons to match.

Also we see introduced are Nook Miles which can be earned by performing various tasks, Nook Miles can buy you certain items to decorate your island, terraforming equipment and best of all air miles so you can fly off to other deserted islands, if you are lucky to get a rare island it will bring in some big Bells (money). You also have the opportunity to pick fruit that is not native to your island and stock up on the essentials to build furniture & equipment.

The only downside of this game is that you cannot have multiple Animal Crossing discs on one console, it is one island per console, to have more than one island you would need a Switch console per game, which to me seems wrong. You can have multiple players for the same island, but if everyone wants to play the game at the same time it could cause friction, lucky for me that is not an issue. Can I recommend it, if your looking for a lovely stress free game that has so much packed into it then go for it, it is worth every penny.

I’m 60. My sons bought me a Nintendo Switch and ACNH as a spontaneous surprise gift and I absolutely adore it (and them). I love the freedom of wandering around my island doing whatever I want to do; everything about this game, the clothes, furniture, flowers, fossils, villagers, fishing, diving, flying to different islands, everything is just brilliant, it’s such a feel good experience. I’ve completed all the extensions to my home and finished paying Tom Nook and am now happily customising. I love it and would recommend it to anybody, age just doesn’t come into it.

Arrived on time and in new condition. The game itself one of my favourite switch games so far – quarantine would have been a lot harder without it. The graphics are hd which give it a cleaner feel than previous games. The game has so much more customisation than previous titles too, you can place furniture outside and create cliffs, water features, rivers and paths. It could do with some smoother playability – i.e the ability to craft multiple items at once, shorter dialogue trees for frequently used actions like traveling. The game is constantly getting great updates which really add to the game. I’ve been playing since March and I’m still not bored.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have never played Animal Crossing before and thought I’d take a punt…….

The graphics are average, Tom Nook & Co are complete rip off merchants and it takes hours and hours of whacking trees and selling fruit, just to earn enough money to buy rubbish that you don’t want or need!

I know all of this, but I can’t stop playing it and I’ve racked up 200 hours and still going.

It will suck your soul and it is a truly horrible game, but at the same time wonderful and addictive!

It is so addictive and fun to play and I find myself losing time to this game. I sit down and say I will only play for an hour and when I look at the clock again 4 hours have passed lol.

Having never played the previous games but heard so much about this version I am definitely happy with this purchase. I know there’s an issue with people not liking the ‘one island per Switch’ but this works fine for me as the main player and my young daughters having their own character / house on my island. It’s an addictive game that works perfectly in our current global situation and has ample growth potential with game updates and customisation. All I need now is someone to send me a pear to plant…

    A great escape

This has been the definitive game of 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I can imagine there are others out there who would agree that this game helped through lockdown! It’s fun, it’s cute, it’s super family friendly and isn’t just a game you complete and put away. You constantly have things to do, the upkeep of your island is imperative to help it blossom! A must buy, and if you don’t have Switch then what are you waiting for? Buy one and get this game with it! You won’t regret it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Usershe game is so detailed and my family members enjoyed to live virtually in the game!

the game keep creating so many missions for you to do, so many ways to play to earn bells, miles and thousands of customisable items to decorate your island, you house

and even i can play with many of my friends, colleagues and i’m so surprised they are playing too! and some long lost contact friends, now we have much more things to talk

but one very important things to remember, once the game created in a console, you cannot transfer it to another, like my case, i created the game with my switch lite, when one day i want to play the game in a bigger tv screen, it doesn’t have a game save transfer function (yet), so i can only keep playing it in the same console

also, make sure don’t corrupt the game save, don’t turn off while saving, i saw so many cases that the game save corrupted and you have to start all over again, wasted a few hundred hours effort that made the island look so great!

anyway, this is the best game i ever had for my nintendo switch, it’s better than the all times leading mario kart game now

best nintendo switch game of the year for sure!

This is my first Animal Crossing game after being quite reluctant to buy it and I’ve quickly fallen in love with the charm of it. I can see this appealing to a very wide demographic of people and ages who just want a nice, chilled out, moderately paced game.

The thing I love mostly about this game is that I can play for an hour or two and be satisfied enough to put it down. Many other games induce me into a state where I feel compelled to play and play and play, whilst that is on one hand a sign of an enjoyable game, it can also be a little bit draining. Perfect especially in the evening when you just want to relax a little bit but not play for so long that you end up going to bed late.

Also as someone who really likes learning about fauna, this game steadily is introducing me to a range of new fish, fossils and insects as I continue to alter my island and/or the season changes. All of which you get to view anytime in your own museum once you’ve discovered it. This game just really is built up on a range of great little details.

If you need to clock out of reality for an hour or two a day, by all means get this game.

Had some issues initially, with the console rejecting the cartridge a couple of times, but it has worked properly since with no issues. It’s a very enjoyable game, although I’m finding it quite slow at the moment; I’m used to being able to do missions in games, one after the other, rather than having to wait until the next day for things to complete. Overall though, it is a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to continuing playing it!

Seeing as we were under lockdown and I am one of those lucky enough to be able to work from home with an employer that is keeping me on I decided to splurge and buy it.

    BIG MISTAKE!

The premise is decidedly straightforward. You move to an island and build up it’s infrastructure to get others to move in. The in game currency is Bells and you earn these by catching bugs and fish and selling them at the local store. No microtransactions to worry about. You Just need to work to earn money and then spend it on home improvements, building properties to encourage people to move in and buy thrall important Book Miles to visit other islands and plunder them for resources. Charming graphics Bound and it is all incredibly child friendly, although the pubs when you catch anything start wearing thin after a while.

The only issue is down to the way the Nintendo Switch works. Got one copy of the game and one console, and two of you that want to play? Well, you only get the one island to share between you. Very frustrating, especially as I had a quick to and was immediately hooked. So, I had to buy my one Switch to be able to have my own island and the knock on effect of that was buying two copies of the game so that we aren’t bickering over who’s turn it is to have the game cartridge.

Relaxing and incredibly fun to play. You will lose hours of your life playing this game. I decided to redo my three rooms I purchased for my house and before I knew it I’d spent 2 hours just shifting furniture and don’t even get me started on time flying whilst I fish or bug hunt. Genuinely suitable for all ages and no worries about spending real world.money on in game purchases.

Love it! Nice to take a break from my daily life to dig for fossils and grow fruit trees. Was surprised how quickly the final credits appeared (if I remember rightly, about two weeks). Still plenty of stuff to do and enjoying playing the game at the speed it was meant to be played at (no time travelling)

I am already 100 hours plus playtime into the game and I love it. I love that anyone can pick this game up and play it on a regular bases and play it as much or as little as your want. I also love that in this game you play in real time with all weather aspects to and can visit other islands and play with people all over the world.
I use to play Animal Crossing New Leaf on the 3DS and this game is such a good step up from the last game. You can now have 10 islanders living on your island and you can customise your island with homemade items, paths and even have changing the landscape. Hopefully there will be lots of new updates to keep the game fresh.

    All of the yes!

This is my first animal crossing and I’ve been playing over a month.

If you’re an adult, theres a ton of friendly communities to join in.

If you’re buying for a child, I’d recommend using local only ( can only play with people in your household) unless you’re comfortable with them playing with strangers.

Please note you get one island per console, so if 2 people share a switch, they’ll be sharing an island.

This game really did come out at the perfect time and really gives a nice joyful experience at a time when most people aren’t able to go outside. The game is simple and repetitive in many ways and very similar to previous Animal Crossing games but somehow it’s better than that and is just this fun, enjoyable experience to dip into for a few minutes (or hours) each day. While I’ve not been as addicted to this as many people it’s a game I’m going to keep returning to each day for quite a while yet (if only because I’m afraid of what my neighbours will say to me if I don’t talk to them for more than a few days).

Really really love this game. It’s very easy to play and it’s great if you just want to chill. The only downside of it, is that you only get 1 island per switch. So the second person that plays it will always be player 2 and will have less “powers” on the island. It’s a bit of a shame, cause I really don’t want to buy 2 consoles just to have 2 islands, it’s a waste of money. A part from that I really like it and it’s full of events throughout the year.

Unbelievably addictive and loads of things to do in what really is actually just a simple desert island life building game, played it every day since I got it for a couple of hours and my island is coming along nicely.

Ideal chillout stuff, I’m actually shocked I like it and definitely not only for kids, really relaxing to play in these testing times.

Good for killing time in this modern day hell we call “The COVID-19 pandemic” I do sometimes fear for my life though as being in debt to a raccoon can get a bit much at times and I don’t feel like Tom Nook is very forgiving so I’m constantly working as hard as I can to pay back Nook as fast as I can. I’m tired of looking over my shoulder and dodging bullets.

Probably the best Animal Crossing game to date.

As others have highlighted, you can only have one island per console and you can’t transfer to another (doesn’t affect me), so you need to be wary to avoid false expectations and giving the game one star out of spite.

Been playing this game for the last month, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Graphics – great. Storyline – predictable but great. K.K.Slider – amazing

If you have played earlier versions in the series, it’s basically the same with some key differences. You can craft objects and tools, plus you can modify the island layout once you have completed the games storyline.

    Recommend.

Very good to play in isolation, plus the online features make it easy to play and speak with friends whilst on the game. Would recommend for everybody.

Was a fan of the original, but felt constrained by some of it – this new edition solves some of those (although there are still a few areas that could be tweaked), and it has all the quirks and twists that made the previous version so enjoyable. In a role reversal, this time my daughter bought the game for me – along with my own Switch when I stole hers too often! Confined to the house due to pandemic lockdown, the hours have flown by when in the company of Tom Nook and the Able sisters!

I’ve been waiting for months for this to come out and I love it!! In comparison to past Animal Crossing games it has so much more stuff to do on it, you can customise your island however you want and there’s little events and updates you get every now and then which keep the game interesting! The ‘story mode’ itself is quite quick to complete but even after that’s done there’s still so much more to do. You can find Facebook pages with QR codes and ID’s so you can constantly customise or change your island and it’s just a really easy game to play. I think any age could get into this game and spend hours playing it – it’s fab

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersAnimal crossing is Mindless and Pointless.

Yup I said it. Animal Crossing is both mindless, and pointless.
It is a groundhog day of a game. The same things, over and over. Wake up, shake trees, catch wasps, hit rocks, hit trees, speak to villagers, catch tarantulas, avoid that final house expansion debt, decorate your island.
It takes no skill, minimal creativity and literally no thought.

    It’s perfect.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there is a global pandemic going on at the moment. People being locked down, confined to their homes, unable to see friends or family. Events postponed or cancelled, trips and visits prohibited.

But in the world of animal crossing you have a whole island, with people on it, where you can go where you want, do what you want and see who you want and visit those friends you haven’t seen in real life for more than a month.

Whilst sitting in the same place you always sit to play; you can completely change your surroundings. No need to spend real money, no virtual B&Q queues and no risk of falling off the stepladder and having to go to Casualty.

You can go and visit your friends and marvel at their creativity, how they have decorated their home, the different areas of their island and which villagers they have. You can get on a dodo airlines flight and jet set to new unexplored island to harvest materials or to find a rare island for big fish, butterflies or those 8-legged pay checks the tarantulas.

There are events, which can be social and give you a sense of purpose for the day, or you can just sit on your mismatched furniture that fell out of a tree and wait for shooting stars.
The fact it takes little thought is what is going to get some of us through this difficult time.

Real life has worries in it, people losing their jobs, people not getting paid, people worried about finances, businesses closing, families struggling, key workers bearing the brunt of mental burden on the front line, constant news of worries about the NHS, medical burden, DNR orders, PPE, new emergency hospitals. People dying. Vulnerable people worried, suffering, alone and scared.

But in my little island I catch an emperor butterfly which gives me enough money to buy a whole new outfit for my little pixel body that doesn’t change no matter how much ice cream I’ve eaten. I don’t have to work from home on that island. I don’t have to wonder whether to wear a mask next time I go to buy milk. My biggest worry is whether I’ll get the turnip stock market right this week.

Isabelle cheerfully announces that there’s no news today! A stark contrast to the daily death toll on the real news.
Tom Nook checks whether a villager is OK with you uprooting their entire life to move them across the island, they pop in and strangely enough they never mind! In real life if you want to speak to anyone? You’d better hope you’re 6 ft way from them.

In short, if you want somewhere to live the easy life, where corona virus doesn’t exist, go find your own new island. Give it a good name, design your own clothing, paintings and decorations and live in a better world with friends all from the comfort of your ice cream stained pyjamas.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this as a gift for my partner – I don’t own a switch, nor have I played any of the previous Animal Crossings instalments. Therefore, my review will be much of the same. I’m not a completely new convert, nor am I a weathered veteran of the franchise. But I must say, for a very hyped up and much anticipated game, it does look to deliver. It’s an almost open-world delve into creating your town, complete with trading, catching animals, establishing museums, interactions and much more. Doubling down on the epic scope of the game’s predecessor, this has no doubt days, if not weeks (possibly months) of gametime, and things to do. There does seem to be a story, but there’s much more you can do besides that. It’s a game you can invest a little in, or a lot in. It matches the real-world time, meaning you must be patient – but not pay – if you wish to get the best experience. The game looks amazing, has a playful humour about it, and appeals to fans of all ages, not just children. Even I admit it does look compelling, and my partner really loves it. They spend almost every day playing it, and – given the current situation – is exactly what they need. It’s a vibrant game, and a nice change to the dark, gritty, adult games the market seems swamped with these days. It’s expensive, true – it’s Nintendo, and a big title, after all – but it seems to deliver and more.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAnimal Crossing has always been my favourite game and I have played all of them. It was a long wait for New Horizons , but it was well worth it. I can literally play for hours , which during the current 12 week lockdown I am under, is a godsend. It is typical AC, but with so much more and even after a week I have barely even started to transform my Island..although Tom Nook is several 100,00 bells better off! It is exactly what i hoped it would be. Brilliant!

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersWith the benefit of hindsight, I think I was too harsh with my original review.

Yes, it’s massively frustrating if you want to play multiplayer on the same Switch. The second player has to wait for the first player to unlock items etc and doesn’t get the same experience and is limited in what they do. For example, only one of you can make changes to the island layout.

Putting aside the limitations of multiplayer, this is an excellent game, although you may find your interest level waning once you’ve fully upgraded your house.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAbsolutely fantastic and exceeds every one of my expectations.

Having played the previous games in the series, I knew what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by the new theme of the game.

You and the loveable Tom Nook travel to a decent sized island and make your home there. From this point you are free to do as you wish, collecting bugs, fishing, making new friends. There are tasks you can complete generally Via Tom Nook’s instruction, to expand your life on the island and soon you will be inviting more guests to live, including amenities such as shops and entertainment.

Please be warned, like all previous Animal Crossing games, there is only one save file allowed and though you will be able to play with multiple characters, only the main account has full access to the game.
It makes me sad seeing reviewers give such a fantastic and fun game such a low rating for something that has always been a part of the game series.
There has never been more than one save file and you have always been able to create multiple characters in the game but with limited features available.

Other than that, this is an amazing game and definitely worth all the time and effort you’ll be putting into it!

Most involved start to an Animal Crossing game I’ve yet experienced. Needing to place bridges, build the town itself and houses for new residents, build your own tools, and the greatly involved nature of the game is fantastic. Still no need to play it more than casually, and the goals are easy to achieve over a longer course of time.

Both me and my bro both in our 30s bought this and it really is like the old SNES days for pure Nintendo magic. The first time he visited my island and stole my things was like being 7 years old again. 12 hours in and not done much because the game mechanics only lets you do so much in one sitting and you can’t wait to return. Outstanding fun game

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFrom someone who has never played an animal crossing game, I was always conflicted as to whether I would like it. The pacing and content was always something I was worried about up until I played it.

With that being said, I absolutely love it. It is amazingly unique in its concept and goal, and it succeeds massively. It is jam-packed full of fun things to with all the relaxing benefits of island life. This is game you will be playing for months. It is hard to describe in words, the game feels like many emotions and moods combined. Part open world, part exploration and crafting, part farming, part interior / exterior designing, part collect-a-thon, part city planner. I think it has a little something for everyone.

I would say it is a must-have on the switch.

The Animal Crossing series has been running for many years, but New Horizons succeeds at making you feel like you are the Animal Crossing. You can build, destroy, and manifest anything almost anywhere, you can greet new animals to your village, you can shape the island to your own view. It is truly a hybrid of open world and simulation, and by far the perfect game for almost anyone on the switch.

Great game. If you ever buy a Nintendo console you already realise there’s only about 5 really good games that will come out for it. This is one of the best of those. This is one of the most anticipated releases for the Switch and it does not disappoint.

Great improvements in the graphics as well as a better set of game mechanics over the older releases. Being able to play hand held or on the TV is great too. The best AC of them all!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA fantastic little game that will eat up your spare time. Whether it be decorating your home, growing and tending your garden, socialising, adventuring, shopping, teraforming the landscape, crafting or interacting with the wildlife, Animal Crossing has something for everyone.

The game works in real time so times of days, seasons, deliveries, and events change depending on what’s happening in the real world. This creates a slower paced game and allows you as a player to take your time and let your little island grow organically with every decision you make.

There are some complaining about island sharing with others on the same console but the fact is it makes the game better. Islands are sizable so there is plenty of space for everyone but most importantly this is a social game and multiple residents makes it easier to harvest and share resources which is ESSENTIAL to progression. All in all a wonderful game and highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 49 From Our UsersAnimal Crossing for me is the best game Nintendo produced throughout all the Consoles but they still haven’t got New Horizons right. I have two children aged 11 and 13 and they have to share the same island which is causing huge arguments about planting and placing objects between the two of them, for me Animal Crossing is a very personal game for the gamer to design and plan whatever they want without some other user coming along and changing it. Even if you have 2 game cartridges it’s pointless because it saves to the drive, so I am now thinking of buying my daughter the Nintendo Switch Lite with Animal Crossing.

This time you can only have one island per switch system instead of an island for each profile. For me that’s a tiny bit disappointing! There are also some new features such as the Nook phone which is a good idea but I’m not sure it brings that much to the game. Have to say though that during this madness (I’ve heard a rumour there’s a virus going round) it is a very calming game to play and will take your mind off of it so buy it and enjoy not going out for a couple of weeks!

Golden Review Award: 411 From Our UsersI pre-ordered this a while ago for my Nintendo Switch Lite.

I have spent 2 days playing it so far and im not getting to bed until 4am, its so addictive. Good job we all are self isolating because of Coronavirus because i think i would lose my job.

Its a nifty little game, there is so much to do, there is lots of going back and forth, gathering materials, making tools, accumulating miles and bells, fishing, and visiting mystery islands.

I think ive played a good 20 hours so far over the 2 days, and ive only just managed to pay nook his 5000 miles and took a loan out for my house. There is a lot of work to do.

This will take me months and months to get through, i am okay with that though because it keeps me busy, distracted from the isolation, and i really enjoy it.

    Fantastic value.

    Update:

Im not sure if any you have played this before but wanted to share some tips and tricks that i had to figure out the hard way.

You start off with a native fruit, mine was oranges. You have to pay 2000 miles for a nook ticket to visit mystery islands to try and forage iron nuggets and other fruits. Once you have those fruits do not sell them. Use your flimsy shovel to dig holes and then plant the fruit in the holes and it will grow a fuit tree. You have to look for Oranges, Cherries, Pears, Apples, Peaches, and Coconuts. On that last one, Coconut trees can only be planted on the beach.

When foraging for iron nuggets, dig 2 holes behind you so that you dont fall backwards, and hit your stones with a shovel and it will spit out iron nuggets. You will need 30 to give to Nook to build the shop.

Also fish twice a day, once in the daytime and once at night because you will get different types of fish.

Upgrade with your miles to get bigger storage, it will cost you 8000 miles but its worth it.

You will need a vaulting pole to jump over rivers. You will get it from Blathers when you give him 15 specimens to open the museum. Unlike other tools it wont ever break.

Be prepared to replace your tools a lot because they do not last. When you get your house start stockpiling wood. Your house comes with a nifty feature. Free storage. You press right on the direction pad and you can put things into storage for safe keeping. Shake your trees every day to get tree branches. Each tree will spit out 8 branches, but never more than that. Same with your fruit. Stockpile. You can use it to trade for other fruits when you visit other islands or when you get online friend codes. And you can use it to plant fruit trees. I have planted hundreds all over my island. Nook also gives you money for fruit so its a good money making scheme.

When you get your shovel, once a day you will notice a glowing spot on the ground, use your shovel and dig a hole. It will give you a money bag. 1st one is 1000 bells. Leave the hole open and click x to select the bag but use the joystick to increase the value of the bag to 10,000 bells and then bury the bag in the hole. This gives you a money tree. Each tree then gives you 3 bags of 10,000 bells. You can then use your shovel to dig the money tree up and replant it somewhere easier to find. Ive put all mine next to my house, i have 4 so far.

You will need them becuase infastructure later in the game is expensive. Your 1st bridge costs you over 100, 000 bells and more so you need a lot of money.

Thats as far as ive got so far. Hope this has been helpful.
