I’m almost embarrassed to admit how much this sucked up on the first go.
We had cleaned earlier in the day with our old cleaner and I was confident that this would not get much but boy I was wrong, we have clearly been living in filth.
I would highly recommend this vacuum cleaner especially if you have any pets. Well worth the cos

Bought this as a replacement for my trusty old Dyson ball hoover. It works great, extremely good suction, too go on fact. I had to trya BD learn how to replace the plate on the end of the vacuum in order to allow the motorised nozzle to move freely. Instructions for this are the best in the booklet provided. It’s just simple photos no text annotations. That being said this works great so far. Got it on bargain to from warehouse practically brand new for a third of the normal price!

Fantastic suction but instructions aren't easiest to follow

Suction is really really strong and and comparable to a Dyson. And the anti-tangle roller isn’t a gimmick it really does get all the hair up without an issue

I love this product. Value for money, has a good suction power and you do not need worry with the hair anymore. Easy to clean.

For the price I am absolutely Delighted. It was delivered on Friday and now I am vacuuming for fun .. forget all those expensive machines this is well value for money oh by the way , I don’t have a pe

    I really liked this hoover.

Seems well made, strong, the brush head looks good, once I found the switch to switch it on and off!

The steering I found really good, and can easily make the head do a 90 degree turn.

It is a bit chunky, but it is good enough to be light commercial use, so that’s ok.

Overall, a really good hoover, that has extremely good suction.

This is an amazing vacuum. Great value for money. The suction is very good, the dust bucket holds a lot, we have 6 cats and 2 dogs, so the rate that this picks up hair is very important. It is a little heavy to carry but when using it glides along beautifully. I do find the dust bucket a little hard to empty as the button is quite stiff, I have arthritis in my fingers so I find it hard to push. However, I would recommend this vacuum wholeheartedly.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI am so so impressed with this hoover! The suction is fantastic. It’s somewhat revolting to see how much my previous one was missing. So much is being collected.
Some have said the instructions are hard to follow as only pictures. I personally found them relatively easy to follow. However, if struggling there are also written instructions online.
The best bit for me is that no hair is getting tangled around the motorised brush. I literally cannot believe it. Has always been such a problem for us.
So I absolutely recommend it. I would say however, that it is a little bit of a workout because the suction is lovely and strong. So someone very elderly, or perhaps heavily pregnant may struggle.

I don’t know what thickness and sheerness mean, but this vacuum is amazing! I had a Dyson that just wasn’t cutting it with dog hair, and this Bissell has made me ashamed due to the amount of muck that it picked up. It cleans the carpets, rugs and tiled floors all incredibly well, and it was definitely money well spent.
Wholeheartedly recommend this, especially if you think your carpets are clean but have a dog that moults All the time… It has made me happy and ashamed all at the same time!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersBrilliant. I have three dogs one of which sheds heavily and long haired cat. I always have lots of hair on floor, I normally hoover and brush floors several times a day and when I come to wash them there is always hair left on floor. I have only used it once so far, only just got it yesterday. This hoover picks everything up, after, when I washed floors there was no hair. I emptied several canisters worth and that was just down stairs. Amazing. This is not a fake review

    Amazing

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo far loving this vacuum cleaner. At first it was slightly awkward at cleaning under sofa with the attachment on, but realised you just have to turn the handle to a certain angle. I didn’t bother with instructions but they looked worse than ikeas.
It took me a few uses to find the button on the handle that turns on the motor for the head which now feels like a new feature to play with.
Good suction levels, the lowest allows me to clean the rug without it moving around too much. Mostly use on the highest suction power and I have mostly hardwood floors & rugs.
It’s quieter (when the electric head is switched off) & bigger than my old dyson which I had for 10 years .

I’m finding it is loosing its suction a few months i

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI thought my carpets were quite clean until I got this vacuum!! Removed every cat hair with complete ease and my carpets looked like new again. It’s a shame it doesn’t come with a rotary brush attachment for the stairs, but luckily the one I had for my vax fitted. So lovely having a long cord again so I don’t have to keep finding the nearest socket. Thoroughly recommend this to anyone with pets!! Brilliant!

Easy to empty and works very well on most surfaces. The head is too big for stairs , could do with a separate attachment .

Really great suction, picks up all the dog fur that we can’t see and the house feels really clean – the air even feels cleaner afterwards. Only slight downside is that it is a little heavier than I would have liked. It’s a bit bulky to carry around the house. Does do a super job though.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersGreat product. Was concerned by the other comments about its size and noise but to be honest it’s no worse than our old Dyson.
It works amazingly, we have a Retriever and a cat and it gets all of their hair no problem, our carpets have never looked so clean.
The only issue is that it has quite a small capacity so you need to empty it more often.
Other than that it’s a great product and i highly recommend it.
Oh, and to turn on the roller there’s a button on the handle.

This is a well made and solid Vacuum Cleaner that has great suction power. Like others have said the instructions for this are next to useless but it didn’t take me more than a couple of minutes to figure it out. Once assembled this might light work on my carpets, the rotating brushes worked a treat and I was amazed by the amount it picked up! And at the end nothing tangled around the brushes.

The Automatic Floor Type Recognition makes it easy to go from carpet to hard floor and works well. The extending pole makes it easy to get to the cobwebs along the celling, it also quick and easy to empty.

Overall a great Vacuum from a manufacture that i trust.

This vacuum cleaner is an excellent bag-less cyclone vacuum cleaner aimed at those who have furry friends.

The vacuum itself is very powerful and comes with an array of attachments. In terms of power it seems as good as our 4 year-old Dyson.

The floor roller is excellent, integrated lights are a nice touch and it automatically sets itself to the best settings for your floor – very cool.

Build quality is good, this should last a long time!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersBISSELL SMARTCLEAN BAGLESS VACUUM CLEANER
    4*

The BISSELL Smartclean Pet hoover is a powerful, well-built machine. It looks smart and modern and feels sturdy. Like the Dyson, it is complete with automatic floor type recognition which is handy as you don’t need to make adjustments when doing a quick vacuum around the house, and it removes even the dirt and/or hair without trouble on all floor types. It does seamlessly glide between carpet and wooden floor boards, which is what I have at my home. It is easy to manoeuvre and lies flat so it’s easy to clean under and around furniture. Even though it feels sturdy it’s not too heavy at all and so it’s really easy to push around. It has a long cord, around 30 feet.

There is a motorised tangle-free brush roll that picks up hair and embedded dirt while preventing hair wrap, which can make a vacuum a nuisance to clean. I don’t have any pets at my home so can’t comment on that too much, but I imagine it picks up let hair great as well. The bin in the hoover is great too. It’s big and carries a lot of dirt before it gets full. It’s really easy to empty the bin too, it has a spooling system so you can empty it out without having to dirty your hands.

The downside to this machine is the instructions are terrible and make the machine a mission to fully understand/ assemble. They’re only pictures, and not even detailed ones at that.

All in all I like this vacuum. It’s a nice slightly cheaper alternative to the Dyson.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a somewhat unusual product that seems to be trying to be a bridge between a cordless vacuum cleaner and a canister vacuum cleaner. What you end up with is a cumbersome but effective machine.

Despite the claims of wireless/rechargeable cleaners, they never seem to be as strong as the classic plug in variety and this one is easily better than any wireless model I have ever used. Suction is exceptional considering it only uses 770 Watts of power and the brush head is extremely good at beating and collecting dirt from various surfaces. The automatic floor detection feature does seem to work, although it doesn’t seem to be perfect as it does not always seem to change settings…but it seems good enough. The brush is a bit on the bulky side and I did struggle to get it into some places I would usually find easier to access wo this was a bit of nuisance. I think an additional smaller brush head would be helpful. This is much the same for the stairs, the head is just too big to use comfortably.

Looking at the build quality, it seems very well made and built to last. The bagless bin is also large and easy enough to empty and clean and being of a canister design, you don’t have to carry the weight of it around with you as you clean. The long cable and pipe are also very handy, as is the crevice tool, which allowed me to reach high and low into all the little nooks and crannies that are often difficult with cordless cleaners.

Overall, it’s a decent offering from Bissell, even if it is a little baulky

I am a big fan of Bissell and I already have their cordless vacuum cleaner for doing a room quickly. This is a more traditional styled cleaner and I use this for a more thorough whole house clean because of the bigger capacity and powerful cylindrical cleaning.

Out of the box assembly is quick and easy. Use of the instruction manual was simple.

The suction is really powerful and consistent. Just remember to empty the bagless bin when you do feel it slightly drop or see it is full. I can do the whole upstairs and downstairs in one go without needing to empty it.

The non-tangle brush roller works a treat especially with 3 girls in the house who are always brushing their hair and leaving a nest over the floor in front of the mirror. The Bissell is great at picking this up and not getting hair all tangled up and having to cut it off the cleaner!

This cleaner also has an automatic floor type recognition, which you will not notice as it is automatic, but you will really appreciate no scuffs on your lovely hardwood floor when you go from sitting room lush carpet to formal dining wood floor.

One of my favorite features is the go flat head to clean under stuff really easily. Another great feature is the dusting brush for removing hair from the sitting room couch or bed under the pillows.

Overall a fabulous bagless vacuum cleaner for 250.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSome might say this is the new Star Wars movie of vacuum cleaners because of how powerfully it sucks. I am not one of those people, and what I say is thisModern vacuum cleaners tend towards being more lightweight and even cordless, to make cleaning a gentle breeze of a task. But for a real, deep clean of your carpets, particularly when there is a pet in your home, cleaning can be a heavier, more serious undertaking. The Bissell SmartClean Pet vacuum cleaner is a literally heavy, serious piece of kit that on first clean removed an astounding number of white hairs from my carpet. White hair that belonged to my dog who died ELEVEN years ago. Having had no dog since then, but several vacuum cleaners, I can safely say this is the most effective vacuum cleaner I have ever used, able to remove pet hair so ingrained into a carpet that it is no longer visible to the human eye.

This effectiveness comes at a price. The literal price of the SmartClean Pet and the weight of the cleaner head (which helpfully electronically senses the level to automatically set the brush depending on the surface you are currently cleaning). The cleaning head is cunningly designed to twist and turn in various directions to make nooks and crannies easy to get into, so all efforts have been made to make using this cleaner as simple and easy as possible. But for some, the weight of the cleaning head may be an issue. That is not to say it is incredibly heavy, but the cleaner head is heavy compared to many others.

Unusually, a spare set of filters is provided. Which means when you remove the installed filters to wash them, you can install the other set rather than waiting for the washed filters to thoroughly dry before reusing them. There is no chance that you will put the filters back in before they are dry enough, so you won’t ruin the filters accidentally and won’t be left needing to buy a spare in order to use the cleaner. This is only a small bit of kindness towards the customer, but significant, and suggestive of a design and production team that wants to make your life just that tiny bit simpler, and that feels rather nice!

To summarise, not the cheapest on the market, not the most convenient due to not being cordless, but an incredibly powerful and effective cleaner that, for the sad reason I mentioned earlier, I have to call the absolute best I have ever used.

  29. Gordon Kelly says:

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI may be sad but I was looking forward to blitzing my house and trying this out. I knew that our bedroom would be the biggest challenge for this hoover. I’ll get back to that floor later.

So putting this together is easy enough. Every part slots together nicely. Suction is brilliant and the hoover is easy to push around. My daughter who struggles to use our other hoover thought this was easy to use. You can see the dirt collecting in the drum and the drum is easy to detach and empty into bin.

The automatic floor type recognition is very good. It allows me to go from a wooden floor to carpet without any problems.

So after hoovering all downstairs (floor and a few cobwebs in the corners) I was onto the stairs. I did these without any problems using the nozzle provided.

I would have liked somewhere on hoover to attach the spares otherwise I’m going to have to put them in a safe place and we know how much gets lost in the safe place.

After the stairs I did the other bedrooms and left my dreaded bedroom until last.

I have never managed to find a hoover that would work on our bedroom carpet so I refuse to hoover it. My partner goes on his hands and knees with a hand held hoover to do it. When I told my partner I was hoovering our bedroom he said good luck with that and that he’d hoover it his usual way later in the evening. I couldn’t believe that this hoover actually hoovered our bedroom floor without any problems. I was so shocked that I actually rang my partner and told him. Down side to that is I’ll be hoovering it from now on lol

Love that the cable is long so I didn’t need to keep unplugging and plugging. Big bonus.

Compared to other hoovers I’ve used this is pretty quiet. I can’t fault this hoover and as it was able to hoover our bedroom floor I’d give it more than five stars if I could.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve been a Dyson user for some years, firmly in the belief that their vacuums were head and shoulders above the rest of the options out there.
It would appear I was wrong… This Bissell cleaner works like a charm, lifting and capturing pet hair, fluffing up carpets nicely and most importantly working just as well on hard floors where the Dyson it replaced would just blow any hair or dust around without ever seeming to capture it.
Little touches add to the device too, the light on the nozzle makes cleaning under the bed or similar areas much less about guesswork.

  31. SophieTFWf says:

This was easy to assemble and get started very quickly. Key features of this hoover include auto floor sensing, so it can direct the strength of the suction accordingly, the ability to increase and decrease suction manually, and the fantastic omission of hoover bags. Everything is sucked into a transparent contained vortex in the middle of the hoover. You can see it fill as you hoover, which is strangely satisfying. You then empty in to the bin. There are filters, but these can be washed, and reused. I’ve hoovered the entire house and am impressed with the results. It’s also quiet, and the flex lead and long attachments give it a good reach.

  32. LLB staff reporter says:

     United Kingdom

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a powerful cylindrical bagless vacuum cleaner with a number of useful features. Assembly is easy and the instruction manual gives clear and unambiguous information on how to get the machine up and running quickly.

One of the big selling points of this machine for me was the non-tangle brush roller. This appears to work well and after an hour of nearly constant use there was zero hair wrapped around the roller (in a house with one long-haired person and a cat). The roller assembly is simple to detach and clean, along with its plastic sole plate. Another is the automatic floor type recognition. This automatically senses the hardness of the floor and adjusts the roller pressure accordingly. This is designed to avoid scuffmarks on vinyl and polished wooden surfaces. While the operation of this was not noticeable, I observed no marks left behind on the kitchen floor, so I’m going to assume that this functioned as intended.

Steering the brush unit is easy; the head pivots from side to side allowing trouble-free access to difficult corners. If need be, the hose attachment will pivot until it is parallel with the ground, allowing you to hoover underneath tables and chairs without needing to move them.

The suction produced is considerable — I initially chose a relatively clean looking section of carpet for a trial run. Despite there being no hair to pick up, a couple of minutes use still left an appreciable amount of dust in the drum. The drum itself detaches easily from the rest of the machine and empties at the press of a button.

I found only one minor negative point (hence four rather than five stars). The reach of the telescope aluminium hose is excellent — in fact the overall cleaning reach of the machine is 12 metres. This is excellent for dealing with those high up cobwebs and dusty patches. However, the solid aluminium hose is much less manoeuvrable when cleaning stairs and I found it was easier to detach it and rely on the flexible hose alone. Unfortunately this practically halved the machines cleaning reach, making thorough cleaning of the stairs more time-consuming and difficult.

Overall though this is an excellent vacuum cleaner and delivers an excellent result.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWhen the box arrives you realise that this is going to be a fairly substantial unit. In particular the cleaning head with its powerful beater really has some bulk to it. On the plus side what you get here is an extremely powerful and effective cleaner. We have a border terrier – “Scruffy” – with quite short and coarse hair. After just one use there was an alarming amount of his hair and other debris spinning around inside the container – and I think I clean quite regularly! This is clearly a machine that’s been engineered for people with pets. There’s an enormous amount of suction here, but also the main cleaning head with its spinning beater does a fantastic job of getting deep down into carpets to lift out hairs.

The instructions are pretty basic – they’re the pictographic type. There are several parts: a large round filter, and some sort of base plate for the cleaning head, that are not clearly explained. They don’t appear on the “what’s in the box” page, and it wasn’t clear to me whether they needed to be fitted or if they were spares. After fiddling about for a while, I came to the conclusion that the filter was a spare, and that the base plate was a matter of preference – one has a friction strip on it, the other doesn’t.

The accessories supplied are limited – a short crevice nozzle and a small brush head – and there’s no room to store them on the cleaner itself. The main cleaning head has very useful lights on the front of it which helps you see where the dirt is. You can also twist the handle a little and lower the handle right down to the floor to get underneath chairs and sofas. You can turn the beater on / off from a button at the top of the handle. The base plate that I mentioned before can be swapped out with a coin screw, and once it’s off you can easily remove the beater bar to remove any obstructions or build up of hair. The container empties easily. You don’t need to get your hands dirty, just hold it over the bin and press the large button on the front. There are three filters: a circular sponge type filter which fits into the top of the cleaning canister (this is the one you get a spare for) a large rectangular one at the back, and another actually inside the cleaning canister. All three can be cleaned under a tap and left out to dry for 24 hours. The cable is long – about 12 meters – which is long enough for me to plug it in the hallway downstairs and reach most of the house. Controls on the unit include an auto power setting which varies the suction for hard floor and carpets, and a manual plus and minus power control.

Overall I think this is a really good cleaner, and I’m very happy with it. Yes you do feel like you’ve had a bit of a work-out after using it, but it really does a good job. It glides over hard floors and gets deep down into carpets so well that you can see the pile standing up afterwards.
