I have the mains version of this cutter which is superb. I was a little sceptical about the cordless version but I needn’t have been. This is excellent for cutting thick hedge, maybe not just as powerful as the corded version, but great for trimming. The battery power has lasted long enough for me to cut my hedges and I have a lot of hedge. I like the 16V battery is interchangeable with other tools as I have the Bosch trimmer and the battery is interchangeable, so I always have one on charge. If your looking for a quality hedge cutter look no further.

Bought in 2017 and can honestly say I have been so impressed with what this hedge cutter can cut through and the fact I have had no issues with it in 6 years of use. The battery lasts a very long time. Trimmed a 20 metre beech tree hedge standing at 10ft tall and still had juice in the battery. 100% recommend and would buy again if it ever did break.

we had a cordless trimmer before and it was always an issue to handle it. In the end we did accidentally cut the cord. This won’t happen with this trimmer, it all definitely worth the money and also handles small tree branches quite well

This cutter has helped me get my garden into shape. It is easy to manipulate and effective at trimming my bushes and hedges. The battery lasts quite a long time. Not having a cable to cut through is such a bonus. It is quite sturdy and well made too.

This battery operated machine is more powerful than others I have tried but is not as heavy as my mains version so is easier to use on ladders or in tight spaces.

I found it to be a good hedge trimmer with plenty of battery life and the free additional battery offer that was running when I ordered it made it even better value.

Surprised that a cheap B and Q hedge cutter (battery died and no replacement found) seemed to cut thicker stems more readily than the Bosch. The blade guard slides in place OK but seems to catch on something inside on removal. Sliding the battery onto the charger is fiddly getting it to line up. Sent off the invoice for the free extra battery (a promotional offer) and nearly three weeks later am still waiting on confirmation that the claim is OK / receiving the battery. Neat point is the guard at the tip of the blades. Despite the niggles, overall the hedge trimmers do their job fine.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBattery life is great, the batteries down have a charge led on them so cannot say how long i could get before it dies, an annoying omission and why i’ve docked one start for this review.
Cuts my hedges far faster than my corded (Bosch) trimmer mainly because i’m not constantly try to avoid slicing the cable (many time on my corded one!)
Its light and does a fine job though I’d prefer a longer blade reach. Also it struggles with thick branches that my corded one eats for breakfast.
I’ll keep my corded one for the first cut of the year where there may be stronger growth, for the trimmings rest of the year i’ll use this battery one.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have this minute finished clearing a dog walk track behind our house. It is overgrown with brambles brush and trees,I must say I am impressed with the ease it cut through anything I put it to work on.
The anti jamb mechanism worked billiantly. The thing I noticed, you have to grip both handles with even pressure or it stops immediately,I liked that as it means you are less likely to have accidents.
I am very impressed with my purchase,I would recomend them to anyone.

I’m getting on a bit and found them easy to use and not too heavy. They did the job well and made short work of my front hedge – I had plenty of energy left to sweep up the clippings! 🙂 Good to know that the battery can be used on other items – if I choose to buy something else in the range.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe trimmer has good cutting power and the battery lasts for a long enough time to trim 5 large bushes.

The blade is showing some premature wear on some of the teeth (only used it twice). The lower blade seems to be catching on the upper in some places. No excessive noise so maybe it’s just bedding in.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI have a very mature garden and I’m not a natural gardener which means things can get a little out of control, especially with hedges and bushes. I wanted something that meant I could quickly trim an area without changing clothes, checking I have sufficient fuel, priming the motor, finding my ear defenders, starting the engine and, after all is done, showering and changing clothes again because everything reeked of two stroke smoke. And my arm ached from the weight.

In other words, I have a spare five minutes, I’ll do something practical.

As I already had several Bosch cordless power tools, this seemed to make sense as it had the same battery type.

Anyway, it’s just arrived, I slotted in one of my already charged batteries, went outside, quickly trimmed a box bush by a window and came back in to finish my cuppa before it cooled too much. Perfect and exactly what I was looking for! Plus, of course, much lighter than my petrol hedge-trimmer.

Next up will be reviewing the little Bosch cordless chainsaw I bought for exactly the same reasons!

This hedgecutter makes light work of my hedges. It’s easy to use at different angles, light weight and the battery charge is enough to cut a decent amount of hedging. It also charges quickly.

I have plenty of hedge to keep tidy and for years have used petrol cutters. These aren’t miracle workers but if you have a well kept hedge these will be adequate to maintain it. Lighweight and easy to handle they encourage me to maintain the hedge regularly, as it’s a lot easier work than letting it grow and getting the heavier petrol ones out.

Easy to use. No cables. One charge did small front garden shrubs and all the rear garden shrubs. The light weight is a major plus.

I’ve always had a hedgecutter with lead. Trailing it up and around the garden. Tbis cordless one is powerful and takes half the time. No leads to manouvre or back to the house to unplug and wind the lead up.

    Great item.

Over the years I have had cause to buy several hedge trimmers, I’ve tried cordless and normal power cord one’s.
The power from mains have always proved to be better. That was until I bought these, they are excellent. The battery has a good life and one charge can cut my garden hedges several times, the battery seems to do well holding a charge when stored away. They have good cutting power and rarely jam, like the previous battery hedge trimmers I’ve owned. The position of the 2 switches, that both need to be held down for the cutters to work, are in a good position so it’s easy to move the trimmers around without straining your wrists.

superb bit of kit, has made trimming hedges around the edge of the property a breeze. Took longer to clean up than cut the hedge. It’s lightweight and the battery lasts for ages, wish I had bought sooner.

I expected a cordless trimmer to have less power, but how wrong I was. This is a very efficient hedge trimmer and much better than the corded model it replaced. It is light, cuts better than I expected — and never again will I be repairing the accidentally cut mains cord 🙂 I recommend it.

I did a bit of research before deciding on this model and I could not be happier with the performance so far. I have a long hedge along one boundary of my property and this trimmer tackled it without any effort at all. The battery has always lasted long enough to complete any job I have thrown at it. Highly recommended product.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe Hedge-cutter is light, easy to use, and has very good teeth. I have used it to cut around 20 yards of hedge, one side only, and clear paths with thick weeds (such as cow parsley and teasles) growing through. I have also used it as a rough grass and weeds cutter taking swathes out of what should be a wildflower meadow, but is full of hogweed and dock… I charged the battery pack the day it arrived, and I have not yet re-charged it since… and I have used it to do all that work, over two days!!!
Thanks to Mr. Foxi’s review, I too got “can of STIHL Superclean which is expensive but specifically made for hedge trimmers. It’s a resin solvent with lubricant”. It came from Northumbrian Garden Machinery, Hedgeley Services Powburn near Alnwick. I treated it before and after use, and it is excellent stuff, very well worth it. I am convinced that using Superclean facilitates and perhaps improves the cutter. I am so pleased that I can use the cutter so easily.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI loathed cutting the hedges & bushes! The blades of my plug-in couldn’t cope with thicker branches which meant starting & stopping, using secateurs, then restarting, whilst always watching out for the cable. It would get tangled in branches which made the likelihood of accidentally cutting it, even greater. So, I searched for something better, battery powered, and able to cope with slightly thicker branches.
This is the one I chose and what a brilliant machine! The dreaded chore has become a genuine pleasure, so much so, my son bought one and agrees wholeheartedly. The problem now is, judging when to stop! I can fill my bin in less than 20 minutes of fun – so I haven’t had a battery die on me yet.
It’s s so lightweight and manoeuvrable and no cable to cut! I can stand on ladders and not worry about being dragged off when the cable gets fouled (and I fell off), or over balancing. The thicker branches are no longer a problem as the top 10cm of the blade have a different set of teeth and just cut through everything with a bit of patience and ingenuity. Really thick branches 2+cm have to be cut with secateurs, naturally, but the start-stop of previous years has ended. So have stoppages caused by jamming. The blades have not jammed – so far.
    I thoroughly recommend this machine.

I’m writing this review after a job that had taken an hour took 20+ minutes. not having to move the cable around planters, tables etc just speeded the job up no end. Absolutely changed the game.
My only observation is, that I certainly don’t think the claims of the size of branch / twig they can go through match the realities.
Fortunately the hedges had a lot of time spent on them over the last two years, so most the growth is winter / spring growth and it did that with no issues.
I would say, on balance however, if I have to go back and do a few manual cuts, V’s the speed gain, then these are worth every penny, and I would recommend on that basis alone.

I love my new cordless hedge cutters. I bought them 8 months ago and, because of a shoulder injury, have not been able to use until now. I was expecting to have to charge up the power pack but no need. Im very impressed with the way the hedgecutters munched their way through my hedge and 4 bushes, all of which had become extremely overgrown as they hadn’t been cut last year. As a single lady I have to cut my own hedges and, whilst these shears are not the lightest in the world, they are so manoeuvrable that the job is done quickly. They are powerful and not flimsy. I’m so impressed by them. I have put the battery pack on charge ready for next time! 10/10 Bosch.

This hedge trimmer was a compromise between one with a larger more powerful battery and one that was light enough for me to actually lift. I would say it’s a really good compromise.

The trimmer has dealt with a really tough hedge – all sorts of small trees are in it and, with a bit of effort, it’s cut through branches approx 2cm wide.

The battery has also lasted very well, my arms have got tired before the battery has run out of charge – and it charges again quickly. So far it’s probably been used for 1/2 hour at a time through thick hedge and not run out.

The plastic cover over the blade is really hard to get on an off, seems to stick on something. But overall I would definitely recommend.

A great purchase at the sale price, and the usual reliable Bosch quality, but I almost didn’t buy this product because of the confusion over the advertised length of the blade.
The product details state that the blade length is 5 inches!!!!! and in another place states 100mm!!!!
As I wanted a proper hedge trimmer I decided to take a risk and order it anyway based on the photos which made the blade length look about normal for a hedge trimmer. When the item was delivered I am pleased to report that the hedge trimmer does indeed have a normal sized blade of 50cm. This discrepancy needs rectifying in the product description and specification, but don’t let it put you off placing an order.

So much better than my previous corded hedge trimmer. Freedom from cables is so good to use without having to watch where the mains cable is all the time. I like the way that the handle is shaped around in a semicircle so you can hold it in various ways.
It works really well cutting through everything thing in our 75 foot hedge, Holly, oak, hazel and brambles! First time use was for about 20 minutes with no signs of the battery running down. Very pleased. I’d recommend this.

This tool is lightweight and easy to use. However it will not cut very thick pieces of a hornbeam hedge. If there is a lightweight model which will cut slightly thicker stems it would be “a perfect machine” especially for people who cannot lift easily. It was a pleasure to use this

  37. Anonymous says:

Cut through the wire on my previous corded electric hedge trimmer so decided to move over to battery to negate the risk element.
Now have 3 Bosch battery garden pieces of equipment (Lawn mower, hedge trimmer and strimmer) and can throughly recommend the whole battery thing.
Not cheap but ease of use with no trailing power cables and not having to cert out the extension cable every time you do something in the garden is well worth the money.

I have inherited a wretched Laurel hedge which is so difficult to keep in orderthis cutter sliced straight through without any trouble and the job was done in 30 mins!!
Light weight.I have arthritic shoulders but no problem, easy to charge and fit the battery, also the controls are easy to usein fact I enjoyed doing the hedge for the first time.

I hand a 10ft by 40ft hedge at the end of my garden and it did all of it without running out of charge and because there’s no lead, I did it in record time. I’m a 50 year old with disabilities who is extremely happy with my purchase.
