I have now a collection of Bosch power tools using the same batteries and they all work a treat. This is no exception and it is happy working hard all day. It easy to use and accurate in its cutting

I needed a circular saw and as I already had a Bosch drill with a spare battery it made sense to buy this one. It works well for what I needed to do and made light work using the guide to rip several 2.4 mtr lengths of timber in half, ( it would have killed me trying to do it with a hand saw ).

Does a brilliant job, could do with a little bit more depth of cut but otherwise very pleased with purchase.

I’ve been using this for a few months now. It’s good that it’s portable. I have a lot of other Bosch tools, so it’s great having the batteries already etc.
However, on a thick piece of wood or wood with knots, it conks out. It can get through quite a lot and it’s pretty tough, but it’s not the most powerful.
I’d still get it again I reckon, it’s not the end of the world and you just reset it and go again and it gets through it, but it’s a bit annoying so I thought I’d share.
I use it for a lot of things, so I’d still highly rate it for general jobs. It’s one of the best power tools I’ve purchased, but if you’re doing a LOT of work with it, you might want to consider something with more powe

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe have a lot of bosch diy batteries so when I needed a circular saw to use at our new allotment this was top of the list.
Cutting using the built in guide is accurate and I’ve also used it with a track fence and it cuts dead to the line, none of veering that other people have reported. Checking with a square the blade is true back and forth. I use 4ah batteries on the whole and battery life is good with them. Blade is a fast cut rather then precision but even so it leaves a pretty clean cut. Swapping the blade for one with more teeth would only improve matters I’m sure.
My only gripe would be the sawdust goes everywhere, but think all saws are like that, I’ve not tried to connect it to a vacuum which might improve things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mine is spot on accurate!

  24. Sakshi Udavant says:

The saw feels solidly built and is very useful for cutting laminate, plywood etc. The overall circular saw blade diameter is 65mm so you need to be aware that this is suited to cutting material which is 15mm or less in thickness because the depth adjustment only goes to15mm. The saw comes with a plastic carrying case which is a bonus and 3 different circular saw blades included. Very different from a jigsaw in the sense that the circular saw blade is set back some way from the line guide at the front of the saw. Gives a nice clean cut.

  25. Anonymous says:

The saw is great piece of kit its lighter than expected given the size. Also if you have the 4 in 1 batteries which I did from my Bosch drill purchase, once running it cuts MDF and Plywood easily. The only draw back possibly due to myself being left handed is the difficulty of starting the saw up each time due to the safety feature of pressing 2 buttons together and was only able to start it up using my right hand fingers then switching the machine with the buttons depressed to the left hand, other than than cutting wood is a breeze once its running

I have two corded versions of the handheld circular saw. So I put off buying a cordless. That was stupid of me. Such a difference. lighter, easier to use and effortless. I’m not a professional carpenter, more like a competent DYI chap. This is an excellent product. Incidentally, the warranty can be extended to 3 years by registering ownership. Exceptional value for money. Just used it to build a 16 x 10 shed. No cables to trip over. Fantastic.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe base plate doesn’t run parallel with the blade on this saw. A small washer inserted at the back fixes the squint though. Size of washer will depend on how far out yours is. Brilliant machine other than that but can’t score 5 stars as it needed modifying out of the box.

    Great saw with significant flaw

I was planning to keep my corded saw for the bigger jobs. But there is no need at all.
I was amazed at the ease with which this cuts. Goes through cls like butter.
Not only do I not have to keep my corded rip saw, I won’t be using my chop saw anymore either really.
If you are thinking about getting one of these don’t hesitate get it now.
I also bought the pks55/66 dust box which does go on, but most of the dust goes on the floor anyway. I’d guess as the blade spins much slower than a mains version does. And attaching a vacuum hose takes away the benefit of it being cordless.
Still it will fit (I actually have mine upside down as the 18v saw body is opposite to that of pks55/66) for 10 it’s not bad anyway I guess.
But all in all I’m one happy bunny

I was using this to trim flooring. It’s very accurate and gives super clean cuts. However if it bites on the end of a plank etc it’ll jump like a sod. No accidents or anything because you should always use caution when using any tool but especially true with a circular saw.

Overall very good tool, but limited uses due to the small size of the cutting blade.

i feel that this should be highlighted more on the operating instructions, BOLD CAPITALS would help, as someone could be seriously injured if blade comes into contact with an arm or leg

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersSuper little circular saw.
I used my Bosch drill battery to power it. You will need a battery and charger of some kind, but if you already own a Bosch tool (18v) the battery should fit. Check to be certain.
I used it to cut half a dozen 38mm worktop pieces and also 30 metres of skirting board on one charge. Pretty impressed by it.
Both the 90 degree and 45 degree settings worked perfectly. Depth setting and angle setting easy to set.
Some comments about inaccurate cutting along a straight edge by other users, but I didn’t have any problem.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s important from the outset to not expect this to have the power of a corded saw. Nevertheless this is an indispensable bit of kit that makes light work of ripping down sheets of mdf and pretty much everything I’ve asked it to do. The battery lasts all day. The blade can jam more easily without the usual power but once spinning the blade cuts cleanly and steadily.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a fantastic piece of kit once you get used to it. I’ve been cutting 40mm oak worktops and it powers through them easily – which I was worried about because it is battery powered. The only downside is I have found the cut guide is not clear and so, to cut the line you have marked on the wood, takes some getting used to (offset to right about 3mm from the line).

Bought to put down loft boards and made light work of it. Supplied blade produces a quick and clean cut with little effort. As with any power tool of this type, eye and ear protection is a must as it’s noisy in a confined space and high speed debris is to be expected, so if you don’t have these already, buy them at the same time.

Golden Review Award: 191 From Our UsersAs a couple of other reviews have mentioned the plate is not aligned with the blade and varies by 2mm front to back. This can be remedied by adding a 1 to 2mm washer to the depth screw. By undoing the red depth bolt you can pull the baseplate away from the screw and fit a 1 to 2mm washer (depending how misaligned it is). This results in a perfectly aligned saw blade that can be run along a straight edge for an accurate cut. Its impossible to give this product 5 stars when it has such a fundamental manufacturing flaw but applying this fix does indeed turn it into a really great saw.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis, like most Bosch products works very well indeed. So far I have only used it for trimming doors and, as a novice with a circular saw, it was remarkably easy to use and did a sterling job. I was very wary of it at first given its abilty to cut off digits and various other body parts but the safety shield works great and it was easy to control, Absolutely no complaints at all.

I would suggest that a hose/bag is purchased with it (and battery ‘natch) as it makes a fearsome mess.

To give your context to this review: I was given a Rolson mains powered circular saw which, to be honest with you, scares the bejesus out of me every time I use it. It’s large, damn noisy, not particularly accurate, very unergonomic and has no motor brake, so takes several agonising seconds to spin down. I’m always scared of cutting the cord, a finger or my leg off! It’s also complete overkill for most of the jobs (usually trimming panel doors after a new carpet had been fitted!). The cordless Bosch saw we have here is the exact opposite of the one I mention above. Granted it won’t do for huge amounts or large workpieces, but for doors, floorboards, fences etc. it’s spot on. I bought it with the fast charger and mid level 2Ah LiOn battery. Very happy DIY man.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIdeal for the home enthusiast, no messing about with extension leads. I have used it to cut the bottom off a solid wood door and it managed it with ease and accuracy. The low vibration and noise make it a pleasure to use. I use the 1.5 A/H battery I got with my drill and it performs perfectly.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this to cut channels for timber to create new partitions in a large expanse of laminate floor so that I didn’t have to replace it all. It’s tricky to see where the blade goes in and you can end up cutting too far but it basically does the job and the depth adjustment feature is a nicely realised part of the product. It would probably be pretty good even without that but if your material (in my case 6mm laminate floor) is only that thickness it could potentially cut too far if say it was preset to only cut to say 9mm. All in all this is useful for cutting laminate, plasterboard and other materials and although it is rather powerful you can tame it easily enough and get a lot of wirk done, thus gaining a sense of achievement with this tool far easier than you would without it.

Brilliant piece of kit. The blade doesn’t seem to spin quickly, but it sure has the power to slice through thick wood boarding with no fuss. Use with 2.0 AH battery. Nicely balanced in the hand and a quality feel.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the dogs for light DIY work, and lets face it, most joiners these days are dealing with lightweight laminates and MDF etc. in which case, this should definitely be considered.

I had just bought a Bosch drill with charger and 2 batteries so when I saw this on Amazon, and having a current need, I got one. Went through 22mm Cedar I was using to build a garden gate beautifully, and more importantly, the guides do bear more than a passing approximation to where the blade should be heading, unlike many mains driven versions. Freehand cuts along nothing more than a pencil line were satisfyingly accurate and achieved in double quick time without the inconvenience, and danger, of trailing power cords.

The only reason I didn’t award a 5 was because the first unit delivered had been opened previously and seemingly unused, returned for re-distribution. I had no idea if it was the genuine article or a Chinese replica replacing it, so as the seal had been broken I sent it back. Bad practises from whoever sent the first one.

Great piece of kit. Good clear guide windows to keep a straight-line. Easy to use straight out the box.

Golden Review Award: 53 From Our UsersThis has been very handy. Quality is good, heavy and solid construction, feels more like a professional tool. However, there are pros and cons:

    Good:
    – Easy to use, powerful
    – Makes plunge cuts in many materials with no problems.
    – You can cut bricks with the ceramic disk which is included. Useful for starting off a back box for a socket, better than an angle grinder for this
    – Makes nice, straight and clean cuts. You can be pretty accurate with it – I used a sharpie to make the marks on the side more visible.
    – You can attach a hoover which is good for reducing dust

    Bad:
    – Does not go very deep. Not deep enough to cut all the way through most Ikea furniture. But it can get most of the way, and you can finish with a handsaw which is very quick.
    – You cannot cut very close up to a wall i.e. perpendicular, because the blade is a fair distance from the front of the saw.

Overall however, excellent little saw with many uses fr the DIY enthusiast, probably useful for pros as well.

Had it a week and have used it twice.
Lovely feel although the line to follow when sawing takes some getting used to.
Great addition to the 18 volt Bosch series of tools.

There are cheaper ones one the market but I would pay the extra money for the fact it’s battery powered. Also have other items that use he same power pack.

Super little saw does what I want it to but I thought with Bosch you would get everyting but you dont you have to buy extras as acessories also the instruction manual is not very good recomend that you go on line and se the Bosch film.
