    Fun, with power tools...
Small but powerful, the name ”Nano” says it all in terms of physical size, but goodness it delivers! I’ve used it for cutting/pruning Bud-lea bushes. No, I can’t spell the name of that bush – that’s one! – but I can tell you using this saw is therapeutic, easy, fun and gets the job done! Top gadget that truly works.

Absolutely perfect for my needs, and very efficient. A well made, substantial product. I am a 76 year old lady and it fits into my hand perfectly. Going to get rid of my gardener because I can clip everything myself now!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFANTASTIC little gadget!
This may be small but dealt with a big garden tidy up with ease. I used this none stop for over two hours, cutting down trees, bushes in my unruly garden.
I’m not physically the strongest of woman, but found this tool to be just perfect. It sawed through some thick branches at least 6cms thick with no problem at all. Over the moon with this little chainsaw. Totally recommend! I noticed a few negative comments regarding removing the battery for charging, but had no problems at all.

This is a revelation, I have cut out a hole for a letterbox and to trim a fig tree. I am impressed at how powerful it is.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersDo not buy this produc
Bought this to cut small diameter basal growth on a tree but clogged within seconds and originally wrote a review about how bad this product was as certainly could not handle the wet wood. Recently started using it on indoor DIY projects and have to say have completely changed my mind. This gets in to all the awkward places due to its blade design and cuts with ease. Recommend for dry wood cutting but leave the gardening to a good pair of secateurs.

    Great tool
Really versatile and great for making precision cuts. I use it for making precise cuts in plasterboard where a circular saw would be too unweildy. Not what it’s designed for but I’d highly recommend it for this task!

A very handy a pretty capable cordless wood cutting tool
Being cordless with a reasonably powerful and capable small scale circulating blade edge makes this a very handy tool. It’s suitable for lopping off moderately sized tree branches or cutting/ trimming planks or poles etc as long as not high precision in the cut is needed.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWorks well, when used within it's obvious limits
I’ve bought a few of Bosch products in the Black Friday sales that help to make gardening a little easier.

These are no exception, they have good battery life, and will cut through small to medium branches easily. That said, buyers need to set their expectations accordingly, there aren’t mini chainsaws, so they won’t hack through tree trunks and will get a tad clogged up with soft and ‘mushy’ branches.

    Inspector Gadge
An adventurous piesce of kit. Within certain limtiations, it does very well (try to cut wood that is not sodden and is less than 4 inches in diameter).

I bought a spare battery (care as the fit is peculiar to this generation of kit). There are at least x3 blades available for this device. I could only get the ones for softwood (one short, the other longer). Although advertised in the box, NO ONE (UK or Germany) knows anything about the hardwood cutting blade.

When I do battle with my oak, the standard blades have to do, and they do cut reasonably well. The principle of creating a hinge and then cutting through is deployed to avoid pinching the blade. Periodic lubrication is required as is a small amount of pressure and some sawing action.

If cutting ability reduces, it is usually because fibres are clogging the system up i.e the wood is a bit on the wet side (how else does the tree feed itself e.g. from its roots?). So picking the right time of year to do some cutting has an influence as has the type of wood being cut..

The sawing action is innate to my practice as this spreads the wear load on the saw bar (much more important to longer blade chain saws, one is taught to look out for ensuing wear deformations on the guide bar). The cutting limiter (shielding bar) on the top allows a small length of the blade to be used for convenience on the top side.

When used for an apprpriate task, it has been a godsend. Up in the canopy, sometimes scissor pole loppers are needed, sometimes it is the pole curved blade manual saw, a standard cordless light chainsaw can be a boon. A mini saw when needed is just the job. I would sooner have this saw than not.

That is true with this saw.
I have checked it cutting small limbs and small saplings.
I have a place for it in my Hunting Backpack!

After season it will go to my service truck. Lol.
This is where it will get its biggest test.
    WELL WORTH THE COST

Only draw back is it had to come from The UK. I have NO PROBLEM at all ordering out of the country.

You have to have a Bosch Nano Chainsaw! Your wife won’t understand why but your buddies will be envious! And if you buy it for the USA you just have to hack the cord cap off and wire up a new pokey bit. Brown is the hot leg and blue is neutral. It charges a little slow because your at half the intended 240v but it works just fine. If you already have a Bosch charger for the USA market it’s plug and play.

Nothing to dislike as having read the description and being competent with Chain Saws all sizes. I knew the correct way to use it, and it has performed very well. For anyone contemplating this item, if you are experienced and prepared to give it a little TLC then buy it, but if you think you should force it through a cut, then buy something larger.

I wanted a saw that was quick and easy to use as and when I needed a rough sized piece of timber, this fits the bill brilliantly, I suffer from arthritis in my hands and on occasion find it difficult to use a hand saw, this little beast cuts through timber like a knife through butter. OK there are a couple of niggles, ie the blade gets clogged up with dust under the flip cap after a few cuts and needs to be cleared out, the blade tends to bind on thicker timber up to 50mm or so but a tiny drop of oil on the blade and an up and down (rocking) motion whilst cutting helps, overall though I think this is a great buy + it was the cheapest I could find with the battery and charger included. I am keen to see what it is like when I do my next chainsaw carving as I reckon this will be great for small detail. Very happy chippy.

This is a very unique tool. I have several cutoff saws but they are all reciprocal and it’s not always easy to hold a piece to be cut. This is like a chainsaw that the blade rotates and cuts very evenly and smoothly. I don’t understand why it’s not available in the States but I love mine and so does everyone I show it to. I wish it had metal cutting blades too but I guess we can’t have everything. I am very happy with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersVery impressed, a handy tool to have!
I always wanted a handy tool such as this, in my various hobbies I’m forever cutting small branches so decided to buy the Easycut 12.
Very fast delivery from Amazon, it arrived Sunday morning and I couldn’t wait to take it up the garden.
It does exactly what the videos show it doing, it cuts small branches as if they were butter and in no time I had trimmed down some overgrown bushes and large twigs too without any effort on my part. It won’t handle very small thin growths though, a hedge trimmer would be better, but after all, it IS a chain saw.
The only thing I found slightly annoying was getting the battery out for charging, the 2 buttons you have to press in on the battery sides were as stiff as a frozen block of wood and it wore my grip out trying to press them, but I am a pensioner so perhaps it’s my age…..lol. Anyway, they eventually let go of their grip and the battery came out, on inspection the lugs were just new and unused so hopefully with time they’ll loosen up a bit.
Overall I’m very impressed with the tool and am glad I added it to my woodworking collection, I would definitely recommend it for doing smallish jobs up to about 2″ diameter.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersWhat it's good for, and what it's not good fo
I’m in the USA and I bought this from amazon.co.uk, because it’s not available in the USA. Oddly, due to international BS, USA buyers can’t buy the battery by itself, and you can’t buy the tool by itself, but for now you can buy this whole kit until someone decides to make things difficult again. Also you CAN buy nanoblades from the UK version of Amazon, so I got an extra to just to try the different tooth styles and lengths. I also bought the US charger from amazon.com (US version) which fits the UK battery without modification… The bundle I bought included the charger and one battery that’s intended for US tools, but it took 5 minutes to modify it for this UK tool by removing a little material. They went out of their way to make sure the US batteries wouldn’t be compatible with UK tools. The fix is easy, but slightly ugly. Just a little dremel work.

So I now have: The tool, the case, a UK charger (worthless to me) a US charger, two batteries (one acquired by modifying a US battery for this British tool) one “50mm basic wood nanoblade” and one “60mm speed wood nanoblade”.

Total cost $228.39 US (That includes everything: Shipping, California sales tax, currency exchange etc. and again that’s with a spare nanoblade and spare battery.) Total time from order to receipt: 12 days.

Is it worth it? From a practical standpoint, maybe not. DO I REGRET MY PURCHASE? HELL NO! It’s so cool! As soon as I turned it on, my beard became a little more coarse and my left nut descended to be even with the right.

It feels solid, shaped well for its use, and it’s FUN!

Realistic applications where this may be the best tool:
    – Pruning (that’s a pretty big one)
    – Anytime you’re not worried about making “ugly” cuts and you want to avoid the hassle of moving the material to a workbench or vice. For example, cutting away plastic parts of a wrecked car to get to the useful parts, or trimming the edge of an old gate without taking it off the hinges
    – Detail work for any chainsaw sculpture (ice or wood), while still being able to say: “It’s 100% chainsaw work”
    – Plunge cuts (starting a cut in the middle of the material without having to start with a drill)
    – And of course, impressing friends and annoying enemies!

Don’t get me wrong, this will make a very clean cut through plywood, especially with a guide, but unless you want to do plunge cuts, there are probably better tools for that.

Could be used in a lot of situations where a sawzall might otherwise be used but without the kickback of a reciprocating saw… That’s actually what sold me on this.

As you’d expect, it’s not as powerful as a bigger tool would be, but that’s not where this shines anyway.

It’s definitely NOT good with cutting curves. That’s a drawback versus sabre saws which is unavoidable, BUT Bosch could probably improve this if the teeth were “bent” further apart (by a greater margin) than the “butterknife” that supports the chain. (That is, the kerf width of the cut.)

As far as I found so far, you can only get “basic wood” and “speed wood” blades, in 50mm or 60mm lengths. Maybe there are other blades available, or coming soon, and if so I’ll buy them. But I now have one of each and in both I’d like a wider kerf width, even if it means a slower cut.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersWhat it's good for, and what it's not good fo

    Nice one Bosch.
This does exactly what it says on the tin.
Very handy, very tidy, and no messing with chain oil or extension leads.
I love it for use in my large garden, but have not yet tried it in a ‘carpentry’ mode.

Innovative design and well built. We do a lot of small (up to 45mm) branch pruning and this is a ideal tool. Light weight,
powerful and quick. The push in safety switches on either side take some getting used to and i wish they could left
on if selected, but they can’t. The blade and blade housing really needs careful cleaning after a few cuts and defiantly
after final use. I recommend removing the blade, brushing or compressed air blowing everything, until clean and applying
a light machine oil to the whole blade. there is a small axle near the tip…next to the ‘Made in Germany’ label….oil this to prevent the
tip roller overheating. Enjoy and be safe.

A useful product I use it for pruning orchard trees. It is compact and ideal for thining out. Cuts are clean and tidy. Battery life is good enabling a fairly length of time to prune. No doubt it would be convenient for other day tasks. Good Bosch warranty.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersMore Toy Than Tool
Truthfully, this is more toy than a tool in my opinion. There’s nothing that I’ve come across that I can do with this saw that I can’t do with my sabre saw. It’s not necessarily a bad tool, it’s just that I feel it’s a bit of a gimmick with its little chain saw blades – which by the way are IMO, extremely expensive. Speaking of the “blade”, it has a tendency to clog-up with sawdust as does the gear drive of the machine. The only way that I was able to fully clean the blade was to give it a go in my ultrasonic cleaner. The blade came out clean, but I suspect that adding a bit of oil would be a good practice since it is a moving part.

The rotating direction of the saw blade means that you have to cut your material from front to back which is the opposite of any other saw, so your view is often blocked by the saw itself. Then there is the inability to make curved cuts like you can with a sabre saw. The selection of blades, and materials to be cut with the EasyCut 12 is very limited, whereas the selection of blades and the materials to be cut with a sabre saw is nearly limitless. In all, it’s not a bad tool, it does cut wood (of a limited thickness of a little over 2 inches), but really, for the price there are much better options out there.

As a safety note, be careful when the blade exits the material being cut. Since you are pulling the saw towards you when cutting, rather than away from yourself like any other saw, you could potentially pull the spinning blade into your body. If you watch Bosch’s own video of the lass building a shelf on her balcony, she has to jerk the saw to a stop to keep it from hitting her leg.

Oh, and I do really like the storage case if that’s important to you. 😉

Golden Review Award: 132 From Our UsersVery good but the bar is easily pinched
A very handy tool which works well.
The only issue I have found with it is that due to the cutting teeth being angled only slightly wider that the bar it does have a tendency to stick when cutting some woods. I particularly find this is the case when cutting up pallets but it can easily be overcome by using a slight sawing motion or just varying the angle of the cut.
Although the instructions say that no oil is required I have found that there is a disc the chain goes round at the tip which rubs and gets quite hot. You can see that it got so hot the metal discoloured in the attached photo. There is a hole in the outer casing just below the ‘made in germany’ text where you can put a drop of oil on both side just before you use it which helps significantly.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersDoes the job, but ....
So I have been looking for a handheld “pistol” shaped pruner/cutter to use as a saw for small branches (around 10-30mm width), and this device from Bosch seemed to fit the bill – not that there were any other contenders. Most of the saw type devices made by other manufacturers are extremely large and unwieldy – I was hopeful that this device would fit the bill.

As with all Bosch tools I have come across, their packaging is great – as you can see in the pictures it came with a durable green case (Green denotes home use tools, while their blue cases denote professional use). The chain came with it’s own little guard although it’s worth noting that once you’ve used the chain it’s unlikely you will get this guard to fit again unless you clean the teeth of the chain ultra clean. The fitted chain is a 65mm which is the largest one they do (they also do a 50mm one), and in use the device cut through all the branches (including some thicker than the actual blade at around 9 to 10cm thick !) that I required it to without any problems, but there were some caveats as listed below.

I have now owned this unit for some time, and am now in a position to update my original review which was quite critical in how the device fits in the palm of your hand and how it feels in ongoing usage, however my initial impressions were very unfair as I thought both safeties had to be depressed in order for the unit to work. In reality (and I suspect if I had read the manual !) I would have found out that both safeties only have to be depressed when initially starting the device – after which the only “safety” that has to be depressed is the trigger – which makes the device much nicer to use.

Some other usage notes I have made – the teeth of the chainsaw seem very small, and they are quick to fill up with debris during use, to the point where the chain now looks to have a rim of wood round it interspersed with the teeth of the chainsaw ! I suspect this won’t be much of an issue if you are using this device in a workshop on dry wood, however if you are in the garden and working on wood that has moisture in it, it is something to keep in the back of your mind – you certainly notice the difference in sharpness when using a new chainsaw blade !

Unfortunately the EasyCut 12 doesn’t come with a brush to clean it out which would have been very useful as I have noted is that quite a lot of the debris during use gets thrown into the holding mechanism for the blade – the areas that need particular attention in brushing out are above and below the blade itself and also in the circular recess which is used to house the spindle for the blade in the cover – these areas should be brushed out regularly with a stiff brush to maintain good operation and unnecessary wear and tear on the device.

I would have also liked to see a slightly longer blade – maybe 80-90mm which would have made this device more useful for me.

Having said all this, I’ve changed my review from a 3 to a 4 star – it’s a nice little uni

This is brilliant. Very easy to use. Makes short work of pruning branches that are beyond the girth that secateurs can cope with. Much much quicker and far less effort than a pruning saw. Good clean cuts too. I absolutely love it.
I would mention I am an average strength woman and find it does not take much strength to use – less than a pruning saw for sure, and less than using secateurs for thick branches.

Absolutely BRILLIANT. Incredibly light and incredibly powerful. Not too noisy and no vibration.Gets into small space between branches. I use this mainly for pruning. It’s so QUICK and handy. Battery lasts for ages too. Before, I’ve used long handled ratchet type secateurs which are heavier and clumsy, or a curved blade hedge saw which is slow. Or a proper (electric) chainsaw which is heavy and clumsy by comparison. It easily handled branches up to 2.5 ins. I’m going to have to hide it from my husband! Slight downside the battery was very difficult to remove, but this should ease with use. Well worth the money.
