What are the advantages of an impact drill?
The impact drill is an all-rounder. The impact drilling mode can be switched off and it can be used for other drilling e.g. in wood, metal, tiles. You also have the option of clamping bits to also perform screwdriving (without impact drilling mode).
What is this little round button near the throttle switch for?
This is the Lock-on switch. With it you can set the impact drill in “continuous operation”. When you have used the lock-on switch, the gas switch is locked and can be deactivated with a short tip on the main trigger again.
Is the impact drill suitable for concrete walls/ceilings?
Impact drills have a low impact force, which make them excellent for drilling in rather porous wall materials such as brick or lime stone. But drilling holes in concrete is more relaxed and faster with a rotary hammer drill.

I dont know much about drills. I’m a novice DIY-er and everything I know I have tried to pick up from tutorials etc. I have a hammer drill as that’s what I was told I should get to drill, but this hammer drill (cordless) is absolutely useless when it comes to drilling into mortar. It’s great with wood, ok with metal. It would take me minutes to drill into brick, so much so that the drill bit would then get stuck in the chuck because it had gotten so hot.
I had a handyman come here to do something for me and he drilled holes in seconds in brick. I asked him what he had – he said it was a driver. I bought this drill straight away and can I say, we used it today and within seconds we had deep holes. Where have you been all my life.
The only issue is it’s quite heavy but that’s because it’s got a big motor for the power. No bits, so you need to get those and it’s again a keyless chuck which I wasn’t so sure about. The first time we used it, the chuck seized up again but luckily after 10 minutes we could open it. Would very much recommend. The carrying case is very useful.

As I drilled into masonry brick it made 7mm holes effortlessly. Although it is quite loud it definitely packs a punch. My house is an old victorian home with very compact and hard brick, which my old drill struggled to create holes with. I would much recommend this for any individual who either does little jobs around the house or needs to tackle those hard materials. 9/10 just wish it was slightly more quiet. Honestly may be good for contracters aswell. Possibly? Also, the need to plug it in is quite annoying but I guess you get what you paid for as battery operated drills are almost triple the price.
I was skeptical at first as this was my first ever hammer drill but now I would recommend this to anyone who’s ordinarily drill is not meeting their needs.
