Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI bought this specifically to bench mount it. This sander is designed to have a quite complicated, moulded, bench mount clip inserted in the back of it, but you don’t stand a chance of making that shape at home.
There’s a couple of M6 threads in the side of the machine which I was able to use to make a holder pretty easily, and get the sander mounted up.
When time permits, I’ll make a sturdier one, but for now the sander is functional, in the way I hoped. And MY GOD it doesn’t muck about!
The speed at which this thing removes material is incredible, rounding corners with ease, or smoothing larger areas too. Belt changing is easy, and the controls are super simple, with an easy latching-on button so the sander can run without you having to hold any buttons.

The only improvement I could think of is to have a variable speed, but I bought this as it was the cheapest (not cr@p) belt sander I could find from a brand I trust, that could be mounted fairly easily. Absolutely superb, and a great addition to the garage.

Just incredible rate of material removal!

With a battery fitted and ready to use this is a handy wee vacuum. It won’t replace your main vacuum cleaner in power or capacity but it has its uses. Car, chairs, blinds, sawdust etc., it’s powerful enough to do a decent job. The filter does clog quite quickly but is very easy to clean. If you have power4all tools this is a good addition to your kit.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis sander is a bit heavy but does the job brilliantly. Once you get the hang of it you can position the belt so it gets right to the edges. If it wasn’t for the fact my house is old and has some lead paint used on it I would have got the job done quicker.

New to belt sanders, so came as a slight surprise. Heavy and lack of slow/variable speed means it tries to leap away from you suddenly on startup, not so useful if trying to do fine work. Maybe most are like this, dont know. Belt easy to change, and stays in line in use, until it tears…

VERY irritating that one cannot buy off Amazon sets of the same grit size belts, all seem to be selections with most grades thus unused!

Bought on an Amazon Prime day, it was excellent value for money. I have numerous pieces of Bosch equipment so I expect high quality and good performance. This fulfills both criteria. I already have the battery from my power drill but will probably buy a spare when on offer.
I only have a couple of negatives. Firstly the design is not very sexy and the colour a bit drab. Secondly, Bosch don’t make a wall bracket which is disappointing. Quite easy to make your own but a Bosch designed one would have been nice.
Apart from that I would recommend this product.

This is one hell of a sander. It does all the blurb says it will, powerful, handy and quiet (as these things go!). A bit of a weight but for the main jobs it is designed for, that shouldn’t be a problem. Belt changing can be a challenge until the correct way of doing it is followed (RTFI !)
Perfectly happy with it and I’m a retired woodwork teacher.

I bought it mainly for cleaning the interior of the car. The suction is much better than I thought it would be. I already had two rechargeable batteries that came with my Bosch drill. They have a lower capacity than the recommended battery but still had enough power for 15 minutes cleaning. The cleaner comes with a good range of tools which have so far proved to be strong and durable. Emptying the dust etc is easy to do and the cleaning process is so much easier than using a corded vacuum cleaner.

Good value for a Bosch and I am hoping it will last well.
Downside is the front ‘handle’ – it needs to be much less forward as it holds the front of the sanding belt away from the working surface. I have seen other machine where the handle is almost straight up from the front rather than forward and sort of wish I had gone for one of these?
Also sanding plate got very hot during use in the recent hot weather to the point I had to take breaks to let it cool down – probably much worse because of the weather?
Positives it seems to do the job!
I have not tried to mount it upside down to use as a static sanding belt as I have no kit for this as yet but other reviewers were not been that complimentary about this aspect?

Stripping old doors? Pah. This thing spits in the eye of old paint on old doors. Get a good selection of different-grit belts (40 and up) and away you go. Lots of dust though, so connect a vacuum to it (easy) or wear a mask. Something better than the useless COVID paper face-nappies.

Sehr geil!

Aber nun konkret zum UniversalVac 18 Handstaubsauger:

    Pro:
    + Passable Ausstattung
+ Typische Bosch Qualitt (grne Home & Garden Serie!)
+ Saugt fr einen Handstaubsauger unglaublich gut
    + Akku-Ladestands-Anzeige
+ Nachhaltig, da Wechselakku –> Akku Upgrades mglich
+ Leicht zu zerlegen und zu reinigen
+ Mit einem 4000mAh Akku schaff ich mehr als 120m

    Neutral:
    > Andere Handstaubsauger (z.B.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Userslike one of the other reviewer said ” if you have an 18v (power for all) battery already then just buy this hoover “. I had 2 batteries from a drill kit I also got from Amazon so now I can utilise them much better. The main points I like about this hoover is the suction power of which I expected a lot less the first time I turned it on ( I also have a Bosch Serie | 8 cordless vacuum cleaner that has a powered brushed and I have to say the suction power is pretty much the same on that). The other good features are the weight, ease of use and maintenance. It is not an overcomplicated device which makes it a joy to use.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt is great. Buy one now. The review can end here!
I must have wasted so much time over the years fixing sheets onto flat sanders and standing there for hours. It produces a great quality finish (especially on long wood runs) in no time. Original belt has lasted months. I have bought a variety pack (non-Bosch) to try when this belt gives up. Obviously you are limited by size and overhang in terms of using close to walls and in corners but pick your battles and you will never look back.
NOTE: use with a vaccuum attachment. It stands so quickly and produces so much dust you will be covered in no time without one (learned the hard way). Supplied dust catcher is OK but clogs in no time due to the sheer volume the machien generates. Ear protectors are needed really as it has a lot of power.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersReally happy with this belt sander. Been using it to for months now to strip layers of old paint and flaking gel coat from a boat hull and then on over 140 2metre long hardwood posts to strip old varnish and wear. The belt never slipped, really easy to change/swap over when used. Powerful motor, requires force to hold it in place when holding overhead! Otherwise well balanced when placed on objects allowing gravity to do its job. Only downside I found is that the dust filter clogged up far too quickly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI looked and various ones before settling on this sander, as a sander on its own its very good but as a package you are paying the brand name, other sanders i looked at came with all the bells and whistles which given the write up on this unit you get the impression its the same with this but no, all you get is the sander and one belt, the clamps are extra plus you need to buy an addition housing to fit to the sander before you can use the clamps hence only two stars for value, overall if you just want a quality sander then this is the one to buy but if you want a more versatile unit try one of the others

Update folgt!

I used this to finish a sawn-timber table top. The timbers were 8″ x 2″ timbers that were glued and dowelled together to form a substantial board. The belt sander came into its own for removing all the “sawn” appearance down to a smooth finish using a variety of grades of belt. Plenty of guts in the drive mechanism and it performed faultlessly. We now have the rustic table we wanted, and I have yet another decent power-tool in my collection.

Chewed through the belts quickly and had to buy plenty of replacement belts in advance of its arrival. This is a powerful beast so keep hold tight when firing up. Keep belts away from walls as will gouge circular marks. Skirting being re-painted now. Use 40 grade belts for stubborn areas – its just quicker and easier on your time.

Keep belts away from walls as will gouge circular marks. Skirting being re-painted now. Use 40 grade belts for stubborn areas – its just quicker and easier on your time.

Golden Review Award: 84 From Our UsersI’ve used this belt sander for a number of projects. It’s useful for taking off a mm or two off edges (I adjusted a work surface the other day using the sander). The main reason I bought this was for sanding my tired floorboards. It made fairly light work of a large hallway and I had to go deep as the floor wasn’t in great shape. I’d recommend you do the majority of the work with this belt sander (80 grit) and finish with an orbital sander (120 grit). I used osmo laquer to finish and couldn’t be happier with the result. The dust catcher does a good job and needs emptying frequently. Make sure you keep the sander level as it is easy to put gouges in your floorboards, it’s quite aggressive. I’d recommend sanding diagonally across the grain then along the grain once you’ve done most of the work.

    Rejuvenate those floorboards

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI purchased my PBS 75 A after being unhappy with my earlier purchase of the more expensive PBS 75 AE. The 75 A does not feature variable speed or automatic sanding belt adjustment (which kept moving the belt over and causing it to shred against the side of the sander).
On this sander the belt stayed where it is meant to be and gave a faultless performance in removing old varnish from my bathroom floor and getting it ready for a new protective coating.
Due to its size it can not of course get into small or under low spaces but these were dealt with with a mouse sander.
Dust collection is excellent but the small dust box doe mean it frequently needs emptying.
With the money saved after getting a refund for the 75 AE I will be purchasing the Bosch 2608000537 holder to increase what I can do with this terrific piece of kit.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAfter burning out an old Silverline sander I finally stumped up for something a little more mid market. This item is more powerful and cleaner to use than the other one. To change a belt is simplicity itself and it seems to have plenty of torque when pressing fairly robustly onto the material being sanded.

It is a large item with the bag etc attached but not too heavy and certainly manageable for extended periods of use without and issue.

he construction is solid. the noise before sanding operation is reasonably quite. the belt centering is a great feature. I like the idea of the dust collection bag filter for small jobs. it is heavy enough to do a decent job but not too heavy as to be tiresome after lengthy use. not done so yet but being able to bench mount the sander is a great feature.

Normally I shy away from Bosch as I felt their quality has dropped slightly. I bought this sander to replace the same model sander which had gotten very old and abused, which finally gave up because I was sanding steel sheets. Don’t sand steel and expect your sander to continue working as the fine metal dust will ruin the motor. Anyway Bosch have made some changes to the model like the better fitting filter. It is still nice and heavy and I was very please with the quality. Now over a year later it’s still going strong and I have not sanded any steel either. If it lasts as long as or longer than my original I’ll be very please. Would I buy another if this is still made in 10 years time, yes.

It’s clear that there is not battery in this pack- you need to already own another item from the range, or buy an item that has a battery included (I bought a drill too, which has two batteries included), or you can buy the batteries separately.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersA great ‘little’ sander that does the job nicely.

    Pros:
    Powerful
Good feel and ergonomic handles make longer term use a doddle
The sawdust filter is a nice touch, keeps things nice and tidy and is easy to empty
Can be secured upside down to make sanding small pieces easier
    very easy belt change

    Cons:
If you want to really secure it you need to invest in the frame
    Noisy
    Heavy

Only thing I would say – sand collector is pretty crap so prepare to be sandy and it would be useful if the handle and the front could be adjusted (moved back say so it was on top rather than in front) for when you’re doing corners etc.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOur woodchip floors had poor joints which showed through the vinyl. We are having a new vinyl so time to try to sort out the floor. Either board over (not practicable due to the doors and time waiting for a joiner), new floors (again time waiting for a joiner) or buy a sander and smooth joints over. The last was the cheapest option and if works we have a sander as well as even floors.
What a beast, the joints never stood a chance. Used a course grade. Plenty of dust. This thing is so powerful, hang on when you switch it on. Only hold it, no downward pressure required. BRILLIANT

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have to say, the first words out of my mouth when opening this was “That’s bad ass”
It feels a bit like a mosnter, and I hope it lasts as long as the legends of monsters, I have a lot to do over the next few months with it so I will update if my opinion changes.

The instructions are kinda crap in some ways and there was no information on which direction the screw is meant to turn for adjustments, so I tore up about 5mm of the first belt on on side before figuring that out.
So far all I have done is sand the living crap out of an 8″x3″ beam that I will be using to suspend gym rings and boxing bag from. It took about an hour or maybe a touch more each side but the wood was very very rough to begin with. I probably took 3mm all four edges from it in that time.

It tears up corners much more quickly than you might expect so be careful there.
I have sharpened up one superbly blunt chisel and one quite blunt cheap but thick 6″ kitchen knife also, that was with the installed 80grit belt. Both in less than ten minutes.
If you are looking for a way to sharpen steel, this will do the job but I can’t recommend it unless you have some experience otherwise you might destroy your blades. No, make that a lot of experience. I do. I picked this model becuase it can be flat mounted and from that position I will be doing lots of steel work with it in the future to save my expensive diamond stones from the initial edge working to remove chips and such.

The one major fault with this model is the suction bag system. It actually sucks.
It might be fine if you are only using it to touch up clean wood taking it up the grits but for serious leveling work, it fills up in no time at all because it is far too small. I would recommend a well ventilated room to work in regardless, I got dust absolutely everywhere from the get go.

I would consider this from my initial impressions to be an adequate model to be a part of a small woodworking company launch as long as you have a dust bag with hose attached.

Having recently taken up Up-Cycling I bought one of the cheaper Silverline products, both of which exploded on me after about 2 hours work. So after a little deliberation chosing between cost and quality, I plumped for the quality product and bought this.
The ease at which this thing works is very satisfying, and as many others have commented, let the weight of teh product do the work for you… and yes its heavy. I have no problem in recomending this to anyone in the DIY market.
The dust filter although works very well, 10 times better than the cheaper bags with zips. But dont expect to be dustfree if you are using this in your home. The power of the cooling fan blows it EVERYWHERE.
Yes its noisy, but its a power tool, what would you expect??
This is my 5th Bosch product over many years, and never have I been let down by them.
One last thing, if you think you are buying a product from Germany, dont be so nieve. These are made in China as everything is nowadays, but they appear to be keeping good quality control!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersHappy with this. The belts are quick and easy to change; I used about 1 per 1.5 sq m (life’s too short to get that last 10% out of a belt). The front handle can be unscrewed for getting nearer edges, although this is presumably not recommended. What is certainly not recommended is checking sandpaper roughness with one hand whilst accidentally switching the thing on with the other. I did look down to see if my finger was still there, which it was.

Now on my second one in less than a month. First one was used to sand floor and used gently…then I noticed a burning smell and nasty vibration. After stopping machine I noticed that the plastic base on right hand side (adjustment side) was melting !!!!! The base felt extremely hot. After allowing it to cool down I tried again, but still with bad vibration and a rattle from near the front roller. So after returning it to Amazon I received a replacement machine. After using the new one I have noticed that yet again the plastic shows very slight signs of melting…but for now I’ll see how it goes and stop machine after every 10 minutes…If it gets worse then regrettably I might have to return it!! My advice is for any user to closely inspect the base unit paying close attention to the green plastic next to the metal base…any damage here will only get worse!! Other than that it is a great machine and does a great job sanding wood. Thank you Amazon for your excellent service.

Looked at a lot of different sanders for sub 100 and glad I chose this one. I’ve used it for sanding a large living room wooden floor and an adjacent wooden kitchen floor without issue and it looks like it will last long enough for plenty of future work. I particularly like the way the belts are easy to change and automatically put themselves in the right position (and stay there) position during use. The handle at the front can be un-screwed if you want to get a bit closer to the corners and the sander will get close to the edges of your floors. The only, very minor fault, I could find is that the dust collector needs to be well secured and emptied a lot if using high grit paper. Overall one of the best tools I’ve bought.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersOverall very pleased, only negative I really have with it is that the dust collector bit is kind of useless unless it’s a very small job or you empty it very regularly. I’d advise just directly attaching a vacuum cleaner. Used it to sand several rooms floors and it did the job very well. Can’t recommend enough a Sanding belt cleaner block though (Google it). It makes the belts last soo much longer!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI needed to restore three old, large wooden garden tables for a function. I had started using a Bosch multi sander. It achieved results in small areas but would have taken far too long to bring all three tables to the required finish.
In total contrast, the PBS75 belt sander made very short work of all three tables, revealing the original wood grain and giving a smooth, even finish. The fact that the belt sander was delivered almost immediately after order meant I had plenty of time to complete the job. Thanks Amazon.
    The downsides are:
Sandpaper belt consumption is quite high, either through wearing out doing what it is supposed to do, or through snagging a hidden nail or screw head that can rip the belt. Belts are very easy to change and align quickly and reliably.
The dust filter is effective, but fills very quickly requiring frequent emptying. It is also quite easy to knock off, resulting in a jet of sawdust being directed at the operator.
The sander is quite heavy and powerful, so needs strength and a firm grip.
Despite these three negatives, the sander has done exactly what I wanted and I am very please with my purchase. It is robust and should have a long life. I will find many more jobs for it.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersMy 15 year old Black and Decker finally gave up the ghost and I needed a replacement (sadly, because if it had lasted another couple of hours I wouldn’t have to get a new one for six months).

I have been making planed timber for shelves and cabinets by ripping lengths of 100mmx45mm (what I used to call 2 by 4s) into 45mmx14mm strips and then gluing them together on their thin edges to form 14mm x up to 450mm boards. The table saw doesn’t leave a smooth edge and while you can get one side reasonably flat the other side always has some peaks and troughs that need smoothing off. The severe parts here and there can be planed out but then I have been using the belt sander with 40, then 80 then 120 grit to get the wood really flat. I end up with a pretty good product and from a 2.4m piece of wood that cost me 5 and can turn out a 2.4 m piece of 14mm x 22.5mm planed wood that would have cost me four times that at the store. The cost, of course, is my time, and it is the sanding that takes the most of it. I still have a few things left to make and had just started sanding when the old belt sander made strange crunching noises and seized up.

I chose Bosch because I have a number of their tools and have found them to perform well. I read the reviews on Amazon and some other sites and chose this model. I have been extremely pleased with this sander. It must run at a higher speed than the old Black and Decker because it takes longer to run down after you let go the trigger (I noticed I had to hold it longer before putting it down). Maybe this is why it does the job so much faster than the old one — maybe two-thirds the time.

The bed is flat, which is good. My old sander had a 45 degree section at the heel where the belt returned and it used to do the occasional “wheelie”. This one is quite stable. The back handle is designed so it would be easy to hang on a hook or a dowel and it is large enough that it is quite comfortable.

There is a version, sold in Germany, that, for an extra price, includes a base that screws onto the top so it can be turned over and clamped to a bench with the belt facing up or vertically for fixed work. You can get the base as an accessory but I read reviews that said it wasn’t worth the money. I have found that the sander sits comfortably on its side (the side with the belt release) with the belt safely clearing the bench, but required a thin shim under the curve of the top edge to get it to exactly 90 degrees to the bench. It was easy to use an F clamp (with a thin piece of wood to protect the sander) to hold it firmly on the bench while I used it to finish the cut ends of the boards. It was easy to make it extremely secure and I had no concerns whatsoever about it wobbling and coming loose (with the old sander it was much more complicated to achieve this and it was never as secure).

One reviewer said they shouldn’t have made the front handle so big but it is attached with a Phillips screw.

It only comes with one belt and that belt is for you to use to test the tracking system. Mine was fine right out of the box. But I suppose if for some reason yours wasn’t set properly, it is that free belt that gets eaten as you manually adjust the settings (instructions included) rather than one you have supplied. The Silverline belts sold on Amazon fit it fine and are a great deal — order some when you order the sander.
