My friend asked me to get this drill, it’s a compact hammer drill and it is very good for the jobs around the home and it is powerful enough to drill holes up to 8 to 10mm, I’m not sure if it can do bigger holes through masonry but it will drill larger holes through wood using the correct drill bit, very good value for money and as usual Bosch does not let you down.

When you know what you’re doing with a drill, then this a good un! I’d definitely recommend for the DIYr, drills into brickwork with the right drills no bother, the hammer action is good, yes, as a tradesman I definitely recommend this drill for DIY.
When a cordless just won't cut it, but space is a problem.
I used this drill to operate a milling head bit in a support for accurate machining , and needing the consistent power and torque at low revs that you can only get with a corded machine. I chose this because of it’s weight, size and rating to use in an under bonnet environment. It performed admirably as only a Bosch would.

Great piece of kit. Chuck is fine, it is a two action Chuck if you hit the second click then absolutely fine.
I had may last drill 30 years this is lighter and more powerful.

Good make but only 1 speed
The only drawback, there is only 1 speed to the drill in normal, and in hamer this could be a problem will have to sea.

I considered buying a drill set with various accessories included, however decided to buy the Bosch and separate bits.
My preference was a corded electric drill as I feel battery (although portable) can lack the required punch. When fitting a TV bracket to the wall with this drill, 3 of the holes went into the blockwork like butter – the fourth and final hole, well no surprise hit the hard stuff – switched to the hammer mode and TV was up in no time!
The depth gauge is handy since is adjusts with ease, also like the way paper manual storage is in the box lid. Well pleased with the purchase.

Locking mechanism could be a little more positive but apart from that very good. One thing I have to mention is I as yet I have not been able to get it registered when you try online it won’t accept the password they send you tried several times, have heard that others have had the same problem.

Handy drill
I’ve had some drills over the years, this is an excellent drill to use, no chuck key needed, long cord too.Can’t get away with cordless ones.
Good quality drill
Does what it says on the tin, the drill has 2 handles so ideal for difficult surfaces that require a bit of force to drill through. The cable length isn’t very long. Attachments are easy to use and connect. Would recommend this product. Keep an eye out for Amazon offers as Bosch are often on sale.

Arrived on time. Only used on a couple jobs so far and so far so good. Having big hands I find doing the chuck up tight and loosing it a little awkward especially when depth gauge is fitted. But overall its ok.

It makes tiny holes in walls reliably and with maximum noise. It’s a drill and it works.

Witing this to try and address some of the chuck problems reported by others. I bought this despite some of the negative comments, there are lots of positive ones too. It does have what might be a design flaw in that heavy drilling sometimes causes the chuck to slip, especially when drilling into metal where the bit has a tendency to snatch just at the point where it breaks through. The solution is obviously to use hex bits which are slightly more expensive but it does solve the problem. I suspect that may be where the flaw originates from because the designers had to come up with something to accomodate both hex and smooth bit fittings. Apart from that it is extremely well made, smooth running and offers exeptional value for money. I’m happy to own this and as a non-professional it will do everything I want it for around the house for wall drilling, woodwork and occasional metalwork.

Great, ergonomically designed item. Hammer function made quick work of drilling into the brickwork. Nice and lightweight and very easy to use with the auxiliary handle. The included depth stop is super useful too – no more faffing around with sticky tape to measure the correct depth.

Sturdy,user friendly & looks classy . Worth buying for even people who are not professional. Well, it’s convenient to buy a heavy duty extension to get enough length while working away from the plug point. I also bought Bosch’s drill set that is extra, but nice set to work along with. Overall input 8.5+ out of 10.
Brilliant and affordable
Brilliant. Ordered to wall mount a TV. Couldn’t have been easier. Have used cordless drills for some years ( not high end but @ 50) this was a completely different experience. Drilled holes in a second whereas before I had to put ful weight on drill and it took ages. Excellent performance and wish I had bought before. Effortless.

The First Drill was Faulty as the Drill Bit Jammed in the Drill..Amazon replaced the Drill immediately and the Drill Bits were replaced They allowed me plenty of time to return the items back to them. The new drill works perfectly.

You can’t go wrong with a Bosch. Bought for sons new build first house and he’s using it with ease for the many new fittings having never really done much diy. Many years ago my dad bought me one that’s still going strong and has had lots of use in 3 houses. I’ve bought all my kids one for their first homes. This product has been upgraded over the years with fab new features. It is sufficient for most interior and exterior household jobs

Perfect for DIY jobs
Really happy with this drill. Plenty of punch for general jobs around the house. Can be used as a driver. I bought the basic 34 piece drill bit box so for 50 have everything I need.

despite our neighbour being the first to use this and threading a zillion screws we found this to be an excellent corded drill and screwdriver. go gentle on the screw driver or it will take the ends of screw right off
Overall, I’m really pleased with this Easyimpact 550 Hammer Drill. It’s lightweight, powerful and very good value. It comes in a smart Bosch case and is comfortable in the hand when drilling and relatively quiet in operation. Drill bit change is easy, however during the first change, the drill bit in the chuck was stuck tight. The outer collar of the chuck was extremely difficult to rotate and took 20 minutes to free- up. After that initial problem all future drill bit changes were easy and there’s been no problem since. So, despite the initial hiccup i have no hesitation in recommending this powerful little drill.

This is a tough, efficient drill. I had bought it as a cheap, general purpose, drill but the job I was on led me to use it, in hammer mode, making dozens of deep plug holes in Accrington bricks. These bricks are tough and It did the job well. It’s light and easy to hold.

This is excellent very powerful and makes easy work of masonry and tile removal. The drill works great but need an sds Chuck to use old style drill bits.

Nice and compact yet still has enough power to drill in to masonry with ease and the drill assistant is very good for accurate depth drilling and also for collecting the dust…pleased so far…the test of durability is to be seen…..
Good for the price
Cheap for the brand. Hopeing that it lasts. Ised for first time to grind concrete and went well for 15 mins at a time. Seems to be good quality so far.

Good control of speed via the switch smooth action and no snatching, however it has a keyless chuck which cannot cope with hammering as the bit comes loose – a bit hazardous.
Otherwise a nice drill for the price.
Very fast spin and with a good drill bit, goes through brick like knife through butter. And the hammer is fast with hardly any vibrations to travel through your arm and shoulder. Not easy to use with screw bits though, because it’s a little too quick for that. And if there’s too much resistance then it simply won’t spin, presumably in order that the motor doesn’t burn out. I found that a disappointment because my cheap as chips B&Q own brand cordless will just power through, albeit a less powerful drill. So on the whole I’m pleased with it, but there’s no reverse, you can’t really use screw bits, and it won’t spin if there’s too much resistance.
