I’ve been looking for a quality and powerful Drill Driver for a while and this is it. Used for the first time in anger last weekend to create some bespoke garden furniture using heavy 2″ and 4″ damp timber using 100mm n.5 screws. Absolutely no problem in driving the screws (I counted 88) on practically a full battery (I swapped to the 2nd battery as a ‘just in case’) Drill function also great. All in all, can’t recommend enough.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNice compact drill/driver that will get into spaces without issue.
Torq control allows setting of screws without over tightening them. Particularly useful in soft materials or when installing small diameter items.

If using alot then a second battery is essential or consider upgrading your battery to a higher amperage capacity.

Although I haven’t done a lot of work with the drill it has done everything with ease so far my only beef has to be the box which seems to only use half the capacity so I bought some foam from Amazon and cut some out around the drill bits and it works a treat leaving one half in the original packaging to keep everything nice and tidy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had the green version that has a built in battery and the heads don’t change. That was quite good, so I decided to upgrade to this and I’m glad I did. I think I’ve used every head it comes with and the additional battery is very useful when doing longer jobs. I’ll be looking for more tools in the range as I have been so impressed with this.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have five old large NiCad powered cordless drills from various manufacturers which still work but I have been pondering how to upgrade to Lithium-Ion as they are bound to eventually fail. There are just too many manufacturers each with their own design of battery packs ands you worry you go and pick the wrong one. In the end my brother, who is in the trade, said this had a good spec vs price (he was getting one) as it did things my large drills didn’t. Its size and range of included attachments lets you get into awkward spaces to do those jobs that the big drills cannot. Being lighter it also puts less stress on your arms when using it for long periods. It came it a well made plastic case with room for other attachments not supplied in the kit e.g. a LED site light I think. So I am happy that I have not exactly replaced my old powered cordless drills but that I have something that does more with the bonus of having the latest battery technology.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPreviously had a Milwaukee M12, which was awful. This Bosch unit it so much better build quality. Have used it for a few days now and battery life is so much better than Milwaukee and charge time is very quick. Now wondering how I ever managed without the changeable heads ? Although this was not my primary reason for swapping brands. The torque settings are very responsive and the drill has enough power for what it is but remember this is primarily a screwdriver not a dedicated drill. I would highly recommend this for its intended purpose (cabinet makers, kitchen fitters and diy’ers would all benefit from this little jem. Also comes in a Bosch sortimo box to keep it organised.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat drill which is what I bought it for. I was expecting the add-ons to be a bit of a gimmick but they are actually great and very useful. The only reason it’s not getting 5 stars is that the heads are easily unlocked accidentally which makes it fall off unexpectedly. That aside……brilliant. Highly recommended

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve waited until my forties to get a big boy cordless and boy do I wish I got one earlier!! This thing is so lightweight, powerful and easy to use.

I now look forward to DIY tasks rather than dread them!!

I would recommend getting the matching Bosch drill bits and screw heads, I also purchased a Allen key fitting to fit Ikea furniture. Now nothing can stop me!

I have found little use for the adapters yet, but purchased with 50% off RRP so really not an issue.

If this comes up at a good price just buy it you won’t regret it!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOverall great set, helped me in many tight situations, esp when paired with hex shank drills for offset attachment.
The main problem I have is that sometimes attachments get unlocked on their own or by mistake which may lead to broken or bend drills or bits.

It is not brushless, but good enough as it is. There is more expensive brushless version. It doesn’t have carrying hook, but comes with a holster which is good, but less versatile as you need to have it on the belt, the hook would work anytime.

Initially was sceptical regards battery duration etc, however have been very pleased with the results.
Have worked 3 full days on one battery charge so far.
for a small machine packs torque and have had no challenges with removing screws that were v tight by hand.

Be aware that there is no hammer function though, so have resorted to my older drill for drilling into concrete.

This is the best drill I’ve ever owned. It’s small and light enough to use as a screwdriver on small jobs but powerful enough to hammer its way though three courses of brickwork with ease if needed. I’ve used it on steel and marble as well as some pretty heavy duty carpentry and it’s never let me down. Working with quality tools makes the job so much easier, remember that if you buy cheap you usually end up buying twice – this is the one.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersA fantastic bit of kit. It compliments my larger 18v makita perfectly, as its 1/3 of the weight, and shorter. You can wear it in the holster on a belt all day and not notice it. The versatility of the various attachments is great, I’ve found the seperate right angle drill adapters you can get cheap pretty hopeless.
Only improvement I’d like to see us with the LED, I find the end of a standard 1/4″ bit is in the shadow of the drill, I prefer the layout of new dewalts with a lower light pointing up. I’d also like to see a belt hook, rather than the holster.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have been on the lookout for a versatile drill/driver for some time. It has finally arrived. All the attachments are not needed every day but are invaluable when required. It can be used to drive or extract screws in the most confined spaces. Not everybody needs a drill/driver with all the features of this one but for those who do, it will prove invaluable.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersThis is a great piece of kit for all the jobs that require a little finesse rather than brute force. The tiny size means it can get into tight spaces and the offset adapter is really handy. So for kitchen fitting/furniture assembly and small jobs around the house, this is perfect.

    I love:
    – Lightweight, easy to hold in awkward positions
    – Good runtime
    – Offset adapter
    – Small enough to get into tricky spaces
    – Fine speed control
    – A surprising amount of power from a tiny unit

    Things that could be improved:
    – As others have mentioned in their reviews, the locking mechanism (insert and twist) for the adapters sits alongside the torque control ring – so you can accidentally unlock the adapter when changing torque setting.
    – I found that the offset adapter can block the work light, which is annoying if you are depending on it and have no no alternative light source.

Very solidly made and so versatile, you may not use all the different heads very often but when needed they are a godsend.
having used bosch 12v drill drivers for many years drilling and screwing 1000’s of holes a year without problems would expect good reliability.
Only suggestion please offer kit without batteries and charger I now have 6 battery chargers!

  78. Anonymous says:

This piece of kit is real quality and I’ll hopefully be using it for years to come.

The unit comes not only with a charger, but two battery packs (first time I’ve ever seen anything come with a backup battery pack!) a belt holster (ok, not a big thing for me) and a bunch of adapters. There’s a right angle for working at 90 degrees, a hex adapter for driver bits, and a proper spannerless drill bit adapter, as found on standard Bosch drills.

The thing that really stands out is the build quality, everything looks like it’s going to last longer than me. Even
down to little details like a thumb switch to reverse the rotation, and a trigger light so you can see what you’re drilling in poor light.

One thing that surprised me at first was the trigger action, it really is incremental in that if you just apply a small amount of pressure, it will turn as a very low rate, which is deal when working with screws. As you increase the pressure the speed will increase in a very controlled and consistent fashion, again something I’ve not really seen working as well as this before.

Light, comfortable, easy to use, quality kit, I fail to see how they could improve on this. 5 stars.

Had used these previously at work to ‘rack and stack’ around 50 racks of data centre kit. Bought one for my teenage son to assemble a very large quantity of IKEA and other furniture and meant that did not overtighten a single screw.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been looking for a small drill/driver to use for furniture making and assembly on-site for some time now. The Festool CXS was a strong contender but a little too expensive. This little beauty is ideal for me. It’s small and fairly lightweight and, with the Flexiclick attachments, makes drilling pilot holes and driving screws into cabinets a painless task. Also, Bosch have a wide range of other tools in their 12v system so, once you’ve got a few batteries, then buying the other bare units isn’t too expensive. I’ve already bought an impact driver and the DeciLED lamp which is a great bit of kit for throwing some light on the job. If you already have other drills for the heavier tasks such as masonry drilling then this is great for the more delicate stuff where control is more important (and getting into tight spaces).

The various attachments make a good drill great. Really helped with a recent kitchen project where my heavy duty tools lacked finesse. A hearty recommendation.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally powerful drill for the size and voltage, any issues driving big screws or drilling holes and you just put it on to ‘1’ setting and she torques right up to the task. Very happy

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis is a seriously good hand drill.

Has an excellent quality feel/heft about it and the attachments click into place with such precision you can feel the air subside as you twist them on/off.

And the attachment have been surprisingly useful – I swap between the drill clamp and hex most of the time but have found the angle attachment and close edge attachment much more useful than I thought i would at first. Battery life is reasonable and mine came with the tough box and 3 batteries + charger and even a USB charger (you can use the batteries to charge your phone!).

    Can’t recommend this enough.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI have owned A bosch 10.8v (basically the same before rebranding) professional driver and drill for some years and this was a difficult decision to ‘upgrade’ as the others did everything I needed , right?????…. now that I have this set the answer is a resounding no! This (especially the offset hex holder) made it so much easier to remove a sink pedestal and refit it, as the screwbit could actually correctly fit in the screw head and not be angled. I’ve also used it for fitting cabinets to walls where the fittings are close the frame.
I think I will get most use out of the offset holder and the direct drive (I even bought a set of hex drillbits to use) but the angled drive and drill will no doubt come in useful.
I was also surprised and impressed by the speed and ease the change over between modes is.

Finally – the case – it really does exude quality and has plenty of spare space inside for my screwdriver bits, the drill set and a set of taper reamers

I cannot rate this highly enough and have already put my Bosch GSR Professional driver and drill up for sale as I know I’ll hever use them agai

Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersLovely 12V drill, with the 10mm chuck adapter and a fresh drill bit, you can easily drill tight holes in brick and block. The various adapters make this tool shine, hex adapter is the smallest and takes hex bits, right angle adapter is hilarious and unlike its 18V FC big brother, has no chuck so you need to snap on another adapter, it soon gets real ugly! Lastly the offset adapter is real useful for tight screwing to 5mm.

The L-Boxx is the new version and looks very cool, lovely design, same plastic locks though so not as tough as DeWalt’s metal ones. Inside is the Bosch holster, yee hah! I challenge anyone to actually fit the drill inside plus chuck and then fix it to your workbelt, ow! Comes with 2 12V batteries and a charger. All in all a fab useful tiny bit of Bosch kit I love to pieces and sleep with beside me in bed, yes! ;-p

Update:- after some months of use the heads are now loose and easily drop out of the drill body.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m reviewing the Bosch Professional GSR 12V-15 FC Cordless Drill Driver Set with Two 12 V 2.0 Ah Lithium-Ion Batteries – L-Boxx. Here are my thoughts:

^^ The Bosch GSR 12 V-15 FC Professional Flexi-click Drill/Driver Set uses a new Bosch Flexi-Click system. It has interchangeable heads, so you can swap them over very quickly without getting two different drill guns.

^^ It’s compact and comes with two 12 V Li-Ion batteries, if which you can charge one and use the other. The battery is placed into the handle of the driver, so makes the drill smaller, and therefore easier to use in awkward places. In addition there’s an off-centre hex bit holder, to help use this tool at varying angles. A brilliant idea!

^^ The main driver has a light on it, and it also comes with its own belt holster.

^^ Includes a GFA 3-jaw chuck, GHX hex bit holder, GWA right angle adapter (to go around corners) and GEA excenter off-centre hex bit holder, which are literally easy to use with one click – just slot them in – and away you go. Actually, one battery even came partially charged, so I could practically use it straight out of the box, which I loved! (No hanging around waiting to try it out).

Overall: This is highly configurable, great quality and comes with a strong, large case (with two handles – on at the top and one at the side) to store it all in. I’m impressed.

This is a superb bit of kit. With a comparatively tiny battery that lives in the handle and a range of components to make almost any surface accessible, this is a highly configurable and compact drill/driver. The price point is high, but the solidity and quality engineering justifies it. The rugged carrying case is a further bonus

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love Bosch. It’s always a mark of quality in this is a great power tool and a pleasure to use. What you get out of the box — and it’s a nice sturdy storage box — is the body of a rechargeable battery operated drill with 4 accessories. The drill is a nice handy size. It’s quite heavy but compact. My wife, who has small hands, said she would get on okay with it, she thought.

It charges quickly and you have two 12 V Li-Ion batteries, so you can put one on charge what you’re using the other. (My only one quibble is that the indicator charging lights are red and green — and I’m colourblind. But I really like the drill so I’m not taking a star off for this minor quibble.) The other thing I will mention is that no drill bits or screwdriver bits are provided.

It comes with a charging base which plugs into the mains> A three pin plug is supplied. The four attachments which fit onto the chuck easily. One is a straightforward head for attaching screwdriver bits and the others are more heavy duty so you can use the tool at various angles.

There is also a handy carrying holster.

    It comes with pictorial instructions.

This is a lovely quality power tool. I’d recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThere really isn’t anything more I can add than the previous two reviewers have said.

It is nice to have a drill/driver that will allow you to get into awkward places and it is really easy to change bits, thankfully no need for a chuck with the risk of it going missing. It does come with two batteries which means you don’t have to worry about getting half way through a job and having to stop for it to recharge. It has handled everything I have thrown at it so far, so I am very impressed.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersEssentially this is an extremely compact cordless driver & drill without significant loss of power from larger devices. It’s roughly half the size of typical cordless drills in all dimensions, with a battery pack that installs inside the pistol grip rather than leaving a big battery pack hanging out of the bottom – this is why you can’t see any bulging battery pack hanging off the bottom in the product photos. As a result, it’s much easier to handle inside small spaces, and this kit comes with adapters to facilitate working in cramped or awkward spaces – a lockable bit holder, a keyless drill-bit adapter (twist to clamp on the bit; no chuck key required), an offset adapter (i.e. allows you to work on a point that’s offset by a couple of inches from the true centre of the driver, and is rotatable – it’s pictured in the far left of the product photos) and a right-angled bit adapter. The right-angle adapter can be combined with either the drill-bit adapter or the lockable bit holder. Lastly, removing all the adapters leaves you with a “default” magnetic bit holder for screwdriver bits. All of the adapter heads use a twisting lock mechanism that requires no tools like chuck keys etc. to swap, so there are no small parts to lose. No actual bits or screwdrivers are supplied with the kit, but you do get two batteries, a charger, a holster for your belt, and a carrying case. The drill itself has a small LED lamp on the front and LED charge indicators on the side; it was supplied partially charged out of the box.

This is kind of the excelsior of power tools and probably more aimed at professional tradesmen, but there’s nothing stopping you from having a go with hobbyist DIY either – apart from the price. It’s expensive, but feels like it’s worth the cost, supported by Bosch’s reputation for making generally very high-quality things mechanical. According to various advertising material, it’s supposed to be able to handle typical materials you’d encounter – plaster- & chipboard, wood, and some metals, so it should be able to handle a good variety of jobs.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersA clever design to solve the problem of working in the corners of cabinets and confined spaces. DIYers and pros inevitably face the challenge of drilling and securing fittings on internal corners of cabinets. The body of a standard drill makes it impossible to get a true 90 angle, so screws end up going in at a wonky angle.

Likewise, drilling into joists is tricky as the length of the drill exceeds the width between the joists. I was drilling into the sills of my car and it was problem safely jacking it high enough to get the drill vertical.

This drill and the interchangeable pieces address all of these problems. The 90 piece, used with the drill chuck gives an effective length of just 11cm plus the length of your drill. That should be find for drilling between joists and tight framing.

The offset 6mm bit holder lets you drill/screw as close as 6mm to an inside corner and keep true perpendicular. The 90 piece and other chucks can be combined to let you hold the drill body comfortably and still get the bit into some very confined spaces.

The 90 piece and offset bit holder can be rotated once attached, you give a good pull against the spring, rotate and let it drop back so the teeth engage. As it’s toothed, it’s not an infinitely variable position but it fine enough for any reasonable use and means you’re sure you’re on a true point of the compass for alignment. Once you have two items attached, the drill get slightly nose heavy, of course.

Switching chucks is simple, they have setup similar to an SLR camera lens to engage then twist to lock. Although the detachable chuck and rotating head mechanisms feel pretty solid they are never going to take the abuse of a simple SDS drill, so some care rather than throwing them into the van etc. is needed.

On that point, I’ve not used Bosch Pro system items before, so the provided case with two handles was puzzling. It’s clear from the leaflets Bosch sell clip-together cases so you could have this unit’s case and another L-Boxx holding drills, bits etc. and use the top carrying handle. The smallest L-Boxx case is about 20.

The drill itself feels comfortable in the hand with good quality plastics, I liked that the LED stayed on for 5 seconds so you can line up the drill on the next work without it rotating. There’s also LED power indicators for the battery. However, there’s no spirit level in the top or on the end of the body – maybe pros don’t need such fripperies?

The drill has the power for woodworking and drilling plaster/breezeblock but it did falter undoing wood screws I’d put in with an impact driver.

One thing I didn’t like is the battery release clips are blooming stiff to push in and give no positive indication the lock is freed, leaving you cursing trying to pull the battery pack out. Supplied are 2Ah, but you get get 4Ah and there’s 3rd party batteries cheaper than Bosch.

I can see this set appealing to kitchen and bathroom fitters who have to work in confined spaces and inside cabinets as well as the enthusiastic DIYer. It’s pricey but solves a real problem and if you’ve bought into the Bosch Pro system the batteries can be used in other units and vice-versa.
