Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSize B bought. Very easy to put up and down and less heavy than I expected which is good. I haven’t bought an ironing board for donkeys years and spent ages trying to decide what to get as our last one belonged to the house we were renting. I remembered problems with wobbly legs and uneven feet and the negative reviews for the brabantia ironing boards put me off. I remembered finding ironing boards to large, heavy and cumbersome and once having a slightly smaller lightweight one but couldn’t find anything similar. I also hated all the flowery covers! In the end I bought a wood one for about 60 from Amazon, which had good reviews and a plain calico cover. Hated it and sent it back – it was far too big, heavy and cumbersome. So I finally decided on a B sized Brabantia with the iron rest as shown on the photo (didn’t fancy the flip up one as it’s likely to break). I was half expecting to have to return it for a size A if it was too heavy (I don’t do heavy ironing boards – life is too short). I wouldn’t describe it as light but it’s not nearly as heavy as I thought it might be and is quite manageable. Ideally if you keep it near where you will use it, weight isn’t an issue as it’s so easy to put up and take down. If I was having to move it to another room regularly I would go for the smaller size A one.

So I didn’t buy it from Amazon, but from John Lewis – they had a passable non-flowery cover version with small coloured leaves in a geometric pattern and mainly white (Pauline is the pattern) which I can live with. Mine arrived perfectly stable and no wobbly legs. So if you get one that isn’t – send it back for a replacement. I assume any uneven feet are caused by damage during delivery or bad storage at a depot or something.

I am very happy with it – I don’t need a really big ironing surface, and would probably have managed fine with the size A, but it’s nice to have a reasonable size ironing surface for the few times I need it for curtains etc. Plus the size A has very few colour options – although I suppose if you didn’t like the colour you could get a new brabantia cover – I think they sell them in the plain calico colour. I’d describe the size as “bog standard ironing board size”. Some of the wider ones look scary!

GOOD PRODUCT. Sturdy, very good length x width ironing table and ideal for supporting the latest, large steam generator irons.
One small observation. The four legs have a plastic boot on each foot to make floor contact. Not a dramatic issue, but as the plastic is a little brittle, my first board delivery had damage to one boot, through lack of protection during transit. Amazon replaced by return.

Love this ironing board, large working area and the rest for the steam generator is brilliant. Folding mechanism is very easy and the clips to fasten the legs when folded are very secure. Highly recommended product. Perhaps the only problem would be for customers with babies or very small children as it would be fiddly to iron small items over the end of this large board – this however no longer applies to me!

Replaced an old one (15+years), which didn’t need replacing but thought why not. I have a Tefal steam iron (180) and I do prefer not to put the whole steam iron on my ironing board for that reason opted for this version of the ironing board. Does the job and comes with the ironing board cover ties, but you do need extra for tightness.

Fantastic, luxury to iron on, only downside is I have to stretch to reach the end as my arms are not long enough, I am 5ft 3. Wire gets caught sometimes in the gap where the iron tray which can be annoying otherwise would of given 5 stars. Easy to put up and down.

  7. Tom Caswell says:

Very good ironing board with plenty of space for your ironing. The iron rest can withstand a boiler one at ease. The feet are soft and non-marking. The opening/closing mechanism although simple, works as intended.
Do be aware that if you go with size C, this is a massive board, much larger than your average one.

With a 10 year warranty on it, you can rest assured that it will last you for a long time before even considering replacing it.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersO.M.G. !!!! This is a BEAST of a board !!! I LOVE it !!! Bought to replace my 30 year old brabantia board, so this one should see me out !!! It is very strong, stands firmly,is very easy to put up and down, I love the width, makes ironing so much easier, the iron rest is great, everything is easy to use,AND it looks good too!!

Great board, although I didn’t realise quite how big it is until it came so it is quite heavy to move about. Good for ironing large items as more of the material fits on the board – however for size 10/12 skirts it is hopeless as they don’t fit over the end to iron them as it is too wide.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a lovely ironing board; the best I have ever had!! I love ironing and this ironing board makes it a real pleasure. My previous ironing board was the same size as this one but this one stands a good 3 inches higher when in ironing position and that’s what makes it perfect. Excellent for ironing sheets and positioning anything to be ironed at the end of the board; especially men’s shirts. Also it is very sturdy and no wobble worries. Worth every penny. Highly recommend.

Ordered this ironing board after reading other reviews and am very happy with it. It is very solid and sturdy, folds easily and has a nice large ironing surface. Glad I paid the extra as it is so much better than cheaper boards I have had previously.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersOur old ironing board is going to our holiday home. So home has gone upmarket with a new board. We have a Brabantia bin in our kitchen and the quality is second to none. So even thought the price for just an ironboard is really expensive (especially for a job I loathe) I read the reviews on this product and went for it.
Arrived all sealed and packed up and my husband remarked …that is a huge ironing board! So his trousers will definately all fit on!!! I must admit to laughing when I put it up …as I am 5ft 7″ the board came to my shoulders …but it does lever down to whatever height. The ironboard is heavy and very strong and solid. For an ironboard …this is the creme de la creme !!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have to say this is the most I have ever paid for an ironing board but I’m glad I did. its very sturdy and I have to iron some very heavy martial arts suits which can make the board wobble but not with this one. the iron feels very sturdy in the iron stand and doesn’t wobble when removing items off the board. This is also the highest board ive ever had and its at perfect height for me (5ft9″) with out having to hunch over.

I am very very pleased with this, and with the price. Its a big ironing board but lighter than it looks and with a very good height adjustment system, much safer than my old one. Can I also heartily recommend Amazon’s Warehouse Deals, found by clicking on the “new and used” prices link on the item? This is my 4th Warehouse purchase and each item has been in perfect condition except maybe for some damage to the box or wrapping. Well worth a look!

This is a nice ironing board, if you have a steam iron generator then this is great! Only downfall is it is very heavy, having said that in order to be able to take the weight of a steam iron generator this is unavoidable. I would recommend this ironing board and overall I am pleased with it. Superb quality.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBig ironing board… and I mean big!! Still going strong several years now… only reason I’ve not given 5 stars is where you sit the iron is too small. It’s designed for steam irons… ours is a standard Tefal one I think… and it doesn’t fit.. so we have to put the iron on the kitchen worktop…

Not as big a surface as my previous ironing board, but overall very pleased with this item.
Lightweight but sturdy, good to store in a wardrobe. Easy to erect and close.
My previous ironing board was a Brabantia, which collapsed on me whilst I was closing it, did not keep the receipt, (will do with my new one )

This review refers to the Size B version of this Brabantia Ironing Board. My immediate impression was of a heavier and larger board than I expected – I mean this in a favourable sense as it appears generously proportioned and overall very well built. The supplied cover is pre-fitted and seems fine. I found initially the board was a bit clumsy to put up and take down but I’m sure that will improve with practice. In use it’s a very stable and firm ironing surface, my only issue is that the iron rack whilst okay doesn’t hold my standard AEG Steam Iron as easily as it might.

Seems well made considering the low price, packaging could be improved as little protection for the “iron” holder which got a bit scuffed in transit. Another niggle was the feet are hard plastic which if on a hard surface slip and can cause the board to bounce a bit, but all in all good value.

A pleasingly heavy and solid ironing board. Easy to open, adjust and collapse with plenty of space to iron everything from shirts to king-size bedding. The shelf is also solid, and is large enough to comfortably hold a steam generator (I paired mine with a Morphy Richards 42244 and it fits perfectly). The cover feels thick and results in effortless ironing. This has a quality feel to it that you would expect from the Brabantia name. Would recommend!

Happy with the size of board and the padding to the cover. A good variety of height adjustments. Substantial board, nice and big. Iron rest works well when steaming. We both find it tricky to work the lever to collapse the board and cannot do it easily whilst board is up, we have to put it on its side.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a combi review, partly from me because I unwrapped it and partly from my wife who got to use it first. This item is constructed of sturdy stuff yet remains easy to carry and has a high gloss quality paint finish. We decided to spend a little more than usual on this board as our previous ones seemed to be too flimsy for the job and we probably spent more on replacement covers than was necessary. The first thing I noticed about the Brabantia was the lack of packing material around the board to prevent any damage in transit. It was simply shrunk wrapped in strong polythene, with the legs exposed and therefore I wasn’t surprised to hear that some reviewers here received a bent one. However we were lucky, it does sit level on both the carpet and our tiled floor in the kitchen. It is a bit fiddly getting used to where the child locking mechanism is situated, but once you have used it a few times, it becomes easier to get your hand to it and the legs drop down with ease to your required height level. The iron stand is a great feature and means you do not have to lie it flat at rest. The cover fits very well and is kept taught in place with elastic. It is padded with foam to provide a firm but cushioned surface on which to iron and the colour is restful to the eye. I highly recommend this item and would have awarded it five stars, had it arrived with a little more packaging to protect my investment.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat ironing board. Best I’ve ever owned. The surface area, feel and ample space for steam iron makes this an excellent product. Would be happier if it was a little cheaper, but I guess you have to pay out if you want this level of quality. Two complements on this lovely board so far, so the quality is obvious for anyone who sees it.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis is a bullet proof, very steady ironing board. It has plenty of space so you do not need re-adjust clothes very often and this results in reduced ironing time and effort. The rack aside is made of metal and it is very strong. At the moment I don’t have steam generator but my guess is that it will easily hold one as other reviewers have stated. It has a broad height adjustment. I am 1.92m tall and it goes high enough to feel very comfortable. It goes also very low for people on the other side. Construction is metal and very good. It shows that it will go for years and years to come. This makes this ironing board quite heavy though. Another negative is that there is a gap of about 1,5cm between the rack and the board. Depending on how you have placed the ironing board relatively to the wall socket, it takes the ironing cable in and you have to re-adjust it every time. Very annoying. I suppose this doesn’t happen with steam generators but it does with simple irons and everybody know that a lot of British houses do not have lot of space. The ironing top cover is top quality and makes ironing almost fun. I am very happy with this product and I would recommend it highly.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this as it was half price and I was in need of a new board. A complete bargain. It is wider in surface than my last board which makes ironing bedding that much easier and it also comes higher which is good as I was a bit too tall for my other board.
It is very sturdy and the plate where the iron sits is very well attached, not wobbly or loose.

If I get as many years out of it as I did my last one, I’ll be over the moon.

Only complaint was that it was 3 days late in arriving which I found unusual in my amazon experience.

Left it a while to write this as I wanted to test out the board. After a few months I can honestly say I agree with all the others who raved about this board (Yes! Raved about an IRONING BOARD!!?). Didn’t realise how mediocre our last one was before I tried this one. Noticibly better on all fronts: Height Adjustment Range; Ease of Adjustment; Stability; Width & Length; Iron Rest; Weight; Fabric Performance (not too slippy, not too grippy).
I’m only 5’9″ but have often found ironing boards too low – this one can be set somewhere near my thigh height up to as high as my ribs – i.e. a height for everyone! Delivery was prompt and the board arrived in perfect condition.

  30. Maricela6620 says:

Very sturdy, can fit steam generator iron on the plate comfortably. Like the fact that when you close it, there are clips to ensure that it won’t come apart unless you pull gently. It has a very wide ironing surface to work on, great for sheets and duvet covers. Have only used it once so far, very pleased with it.

  31. ViolaSupple says:

Much lighter than our previous board but with a wider ironing surface so easier and quicker to iron things like pillow cases. Stable and secure once erected. Have taken off one star because although we view this as a quality product that we will eventually get to grips with one use is insufficient to work out a quick and easy way to get it into a standing position.

This seems like a good product, but I am disappointed that despite very good packaging the manufacturers packaging had received a cut to the polythene which meant the cover has a tear in it. I am loathed to return it for such a small problem, but it means I will have to buy a new cover. Perhaps more care needs to be taken in the warehouse!

Product Arrived on time , not sufficient packaging for such a heavy item. Very light dents and scratches on legs, have not requested a replacement. Back to the item in question. All round very pleased . One small moan, as reviewed by other consumers, the iron in plate has a gap between the main board which more than often the steam pipes on the iron get caught. Hence 4 stars .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIroning on this cover is like ironing on duvet. It is amazingly thick and gives brilliant results. Very high once put up and sturdy. Doesn’t slide on carpet or hard flooring as my previous board would. Very well built. I was reluctant to purchase this due to the price but it is an amazing board and it is reflected once you start using it. I noticed a few complaints about the gap between the board and the iron plate which enabled the coats to get stuck on previous reviews. Yes it does but a quick flick of the wrist and it’s out again. I can only assume it allows multiple covers to be fitted should you wish to do so. I love the locking system for the board height. This makes it feel so much more secure than my previous board which had begun to collapse with use. The locking system for the legs enables the board to be moved with easy and the legs not flaying around knocking into furniture etc. A little difficult to release with the board laying flat and trying to release the legs and lift the board but I guess that will become easier with practice.

I love the adjustable height of this board – i’m 5ft 6 and I actually couldn’t use the highest level so if you’re taller than me..this is the one for you. Lovely strong and quite light to carry around too. Slightly bigger than my old one and longer so to fit a shirt on the end I had to move along the board a bit rather than stretch but would be great for larger items ie sheets etc. Can recommend.

I needed a new board as my old one had a broken steam tank attached to it. It thought it was expensive but it does comfortably hold my new Tefal steam system and the weight doesn’t tip it It has a good broad width so you can iron faster and the length is also good – being picky I would say it was a little too long as I seem to walk up and down it a lot! It is light and easy to put up and down and not difficult to carry. I like the cover.

We had just moved into a new house and were in need of an ironing board. Brabantia have a great name for household items, so we thought why not.

The ironing board can be adjusted in height using the handle lock available. You just pop it on the floor and raise it up to the height required, let go of the lock handle and hey presto, it sits there. You also have a leg lock function where when you finish with it, you clip the legs into place to stop them from moving, making it really easy to move around. Oh height wise, I am 6’2″, and think the maximum height is enough for me. I think really tall people may have a problem with the maximum height. Wen I say really tall, I am talking like 7 foot. Up to that height it should be OK.

The top of the board, is 100% cotton, and also has a foam bit underneath. If you iron a lot I can see this foam bit getting a little soft and losing some of it’s cushioning. All in all a well made product. Which sort of has a luxury feel to it.

The first ironing board received was faulty as the mesh did not sit flush to the frame causing the mesh to ‘bounce up’ every time the iron passed over a particular area. This ironing board is a good sturdy piece of equipment which helps to make ironing easy. My only gripe is that the steam hose on my iron gets caught in the space between the iron rest and the ironing surface and is beginning to fray because of that. Other than that it’s great.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy old, trusty Brabantia ironing board finally gave up the ghost after 29 years service so it was an easy decision to buy another Brabantia board. You definitely get what you pay for, well constructed and a boon if you have, like me, an iron with steamer unit. The ‘board” itself is actually rigid mesh which allows steam to evaporate so it’s a good idea to place an old towel beneath your board if you are doing a lot of ironing as I found a few drips on my oak floor after a marathon ironing session.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHaving invested in a steam generator a while ago, I struggled to find a suitable ironing board. I was using a decent one, but the water just dripped from the bottom of the cover, and when closing the board it trickled out! And the material itself took a while to dry out properly. This one I just LOVE and I don’t say that often! No dripping and no damp material at all. Great height (in fact it’s the tallest one I’ve ever had).

It is wider which as someone mentioned, makes it harder to iron slim fit womens t-shirts. I get around this just by placing them flat on the board rather than over the tip of the board. And of course the advantage of this is that with men shirts etc, you don’t have to move them around so much.

It’s great quality and I only wish I’d found it earlier!

Dull I know to talk about ironing boards. But they’re an essential tool and this one really does the job. We have a huge, hefty but extremely effective steam generator iron. If you have such a thing you will know you need an ironing board that can accommodate it. It’s robust, sturdy and seems very well made. Nice and wide as well which cuts down on ironing time. What more could you want!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had my previous ironing board for about 20 years or more – buying replacement covers – but the mesh had finally gone rusty – so went looking for a new one! The reviews for some relatively well named boards were less than encouraging. Then I saw this ‘beast’ of an ironing board – it’s quite big – I’m barely 5ft tall and with legs it’s taller than me, but quite light and easy to move to the most ideal height. My other ironing board would move across the room whilst I did the ironing but this one stays put. Very happy with this purchase, cheaper than other Brands that had very poor reviews and would recommend as an excellent buy. Paid for delivery – arrived day before estimated delivery date – packaged well.

So its an ironing board. And it’s still ironing. But the Brabantia is definitely king if the boards.
It makes one of the most dull and mind numbing tasks a breeze. The board is sturdy, even on my wooden floor, height is adjustable to very high and it looks rather snazzy too.
If it came with a tiny person who also did the ironing for you free of charge, I would score it 10 out of 10. But as it does not and sadly never will, I will have to lower my score to a resounding 9.
It’s great. Sign me up for extreme ironing.

Lots of comments about how heavy it is, but no mention of weight, so I did that before unwrapping (to make life easier) and it came in at 9kg. It’s perfect for ironing king size duvet covers as no more do I have to shift them left and right. To achieve absolute perfection it would be handy to have wheels, but life is frequently a compromise. I had my last board for nigh on 30 years and I expect this to see me out!

Only snag I find so far is that the steam cable gets caught between the section to iron on and the section on which the steam generator sits. Maybe after some more “practice” I will find a way of solving this – just a shame the manufacturers had not thought of this.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy last ironing board survived quite a number of years. Only problem was that the mesh went rusty and all the paint slowly fell off that part.
This one is better for me as my power iron unit can sit on the rest now and the cable does not get caught inbetween the two parts of the board. The locking mechanism has been nicely updated. The old one used to pop undone out of the locked position. It is big but not too big for me to handle and I am almost seventy.

Love this ironing board. Got fed-up with my old rickety old one and took the plunge and bought this ironing board when it was on offer. I can see what all the fuss is about now. This ironing board makes ironing so easily. No more wobble or dripping of steam from the underside of the board – which my old one was famed for. Size B was more than enough ironing space for me and stores really with the safety catch for the legs. A great purchase, would highly recommend – delivery was super fast.

After months of living in shared houses with wobbly ironing boards that had no padding leading to strange patterns being ironed into my clothes I knew when I moved out it was time to make a solid investment.

Brabantia have a good reputation and it is well deserved. This ironing board is very sturdy and solid, easy to put up and down and not too heavy. Ironing on it is effortless due to it’s handy iron rest, large board size (a must for ironing shirts) and thick padding.

It comes with a 10 year guarantee but I doubt I’ll need to use it. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat quality, sturdy and attractive ironing board that comfortably fits my steam generator iron. A word of caution – this product has a large board and is quite heavy, perhaps not so suitable for moving around lots or taking up and down daily but it suits my purpose. The height levels also makes it very suitable for tall people. I should imagine that this product will the length of the 10 year guarantee perhaps with the need to replace the cover at some point. Worth the extra price.

Very well built and very big, so don’t be surprised that it’s also pretty heavy!! Have had this for months now and so can stand by its build quality. Excellent if you’re using a steam generator iron as you need something this solid to be confident with the support of such unit. I have a number of Brabantia products and all are very good quality.

A high quality ironing board that makes ironing ironing loads easier and feels very study. Its width means that shirts can be ironed loads faster. I was quite surprised by how high the ironing board can stand up to which can be useful for detailed ironing when sewing/tailoring.

The fabric on the board is excellent and reflects the heat really well to make for easier ironing.

However an annoying feature is that the iron stand must be set up as either left or right handed and being the left handed one in the house means switching the clip on frame each time I want to use it. Also there were small scratches and signs of rust on the frame upon arrival.

All in all – despite the pitfalls the board definitely makes ironing feel less like a chore.

I was extremely happy with my new ironing board as I tend to do rather a lot of ironing, I found it very sturdy, large enough for all bed linen and easy to fold and store. My only concern is that I find I have to place it outside to dry as I tend to do rather a lot of steam ironing but otherwise I am delighted with it.

Very nice ironing board. Good quality and solid. It arrived very quickly and I proceeded to do my ironing on it. BUT when I went to put it away it didn’t fit in my cupboard. I never thought about the overall size – just the ironing size. I managed to sell it to someone else as I couldn’t return it because it came with very well packaged polythene and not in a box. If I had a bigger cupboard I would definitely have kept it!!

A very nice ironing board. Sturdy – despite others reporting wobbly legs, this stands nice and firm. I was surprised by the length of the ironing board – the measurements given are the length of the ironing area and don’t include the tray for the iron. Not a problem, but just something to watch out for if your storage is limited. The cover looks as if it will last for a good length of time.

Overall very happy. I’ve given it four stars because I wouldn’t call it a bargain but it’s a good investment. If money’s no object, then make this a 5.

Sturdy frame, easy to open and close. Sufficient space for the iron so no knocking iron off onto the floor. Only down side, hence the 4 /5 stars is that it cannot lower. I have loads to iron and as a result sit in sofa ironing. It does not go low enough and I have to sit on loads of cushions and cannot sit back. Having said that, as far as the product goes it is very good and I would recommend

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI recently bought a supermarket cheaper ironing board to replace my well used 20 year old one! It was hopeless, wobbly, weak and within a couple of weeks the legs started to skew.
I bought the Brabantia and it is great, it has a really big ironing area, it is very strong and substantial and will last me for years. So although this one is a bit more expensive it will be far better value for money in the long run. I love it.

Well I bought a really cheap ironing board years ago and it gave up the ghost and collapsed at the weekend. So reading all the reviews on this ironing board I took the plunge and bought it naturally I did not tell my husband the cost!!! Looking at the ironing board it is solid so wont move rock while ironing, with a nice thick cover and very wide which will make ironing easier. I am actually looking forward to doing the ironing now !!! This is definitely a quality product and well worth every penny.

Great ironing board – very big, but not too heavy, or difficult to handle. Makes ironing large items (Duvet covers, curtains, etc.) so much easier. The cover works well, no more water on the floor after a “big ironing session”. Would definitely recommend.

Nice sturdy frame and good options for height adjustment. Also like the iron stand, the upright style gives more ironing room on the board. Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI was replacing my ironing board along with my iron, going for a steam generator iron I felt it was important to have an ironing board & specialist cover which could manage with the masses of steam – there is no dripping of condensation from underneath the ironing board table. The size of the ironing board is the largest I have ever had, if space is at a premium, do your measurements first. Great for bed covers & saves time with constantly turning. It really is a pleasure to iron.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a great sturdy ironing board, perfect for sheets and large items and excellent for holding steam unit. The only draw back I have found is due to its size – because it’s so large you can’t fit items on the pointed bit to iron (unless they’re huge I guess), for example if you want to iron the front of something and you want to separate it from the back to avoid it ironing through. I hadn’t thought of that as my last board was a lot smaller but apart from that it’s very good and hopefully long lasting.

There are many other more expensive and promoted ironing boards out there – but why bother? This is great. Does everything I want from an ironing board. It’s adjustable in height and its highest setting is great for me as I’m over 6 feet tall. The steam iron rest is adjustable to suit right or left handed people and as a lefty – that a real bonus and plus point. Apart from these points – what more do you want or expect to get from an ironing board…………..
Delivery was prompt and by courier. Only concern was packaging – bit basic…

Really happy with this ironing board, on using it for the first time today it seems to be very sturdy; it has an excellent platform for our steam generator iron.

The closure clip ensures it stays shut when transporting the board to our room for ironing from it’s storage position.
It is fairly large (which we wanted, indeed it is why we purchased this design).
It may be seen as heavy by some users, but we are happy with the extra weight as it creates a very sturdy & steady board.

Delivery was fast which was needed as are old one was a nightmare to iron on and was driving us mad. Anyway the Good,

    – Nice and wide, length good.
    – Like the colour of the metal – cream.
    – The leg clip to hold the legs is a very nice thing to have and saves your legs getting bashed when moving the board.
    – Height adjust is excellent. I have a very bad back and bending is painful but not with this board. I’m 6ft and this board adjusts much higher than my old one, over the moon on that.

    The bad

    – Quite heavy. Maybe one day they could put wheels on one end, so you could just roll it across the floor and then stand it up.
    – Not a bad thing but when I was ironing I kept thinking my clothes had a stain but then I realised it was the water pattern on the cover showing through – funny.

    Overall very pleased.

This is a big expensive board. But worth the money. The old board broke as it was unable to carry the weight of a steam generator iron over time. This is specifically designed for that purpose (up to 7kg). The price seems very volatile, but if can buy it for 60 to 62 pounds you’ve done well. Yes its huge, yes its heavy, but if you can manage the size and weight, its a cracker.

Frame is cream-coloured rather than white, which is a bit unfortunate. Made in Latvia.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersJust test driven my new ironing board and I wonder how I have managed for all these years with the others I have owned.

Its a pleasure to use, nice wide board it will allow you to iron a king size quilt cover just by folding in half instead of the usual two folds.

Good balance sits squarley on the floor, the iron stand is the a good safety feature, no chance of it slipping off. I now understand why its a little on the expensive side (but higher priceed elsewhere), its quality and worth it.

I’ve been struggling for the past 10 years with a 9.99 ironing board I bought as a student. After investing in a steam generator I decided it was time for a decent ironing board so I bit the bullet and paid for this one. I have to say that the combination of the pair has turned ironing from a chore into an absolute breeze. This board is sturdy, offers lots of space and the additional steam unit holder means it’s ideal for modern irons. Unless someone invents another type of iron that requires a different kind of holder, I can see this ironing board lasting me until the end of time.

Having had my previous ironing board for decades and unable to get a cover with a decent fit I thought I owed myself a new board. Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersI had what I considered to be an amazing ironing board – it folded so that it stored in the smallest of places. It was more than just an ironing board – it was a gadget, but unfortunately it had a habit of collapsing whilst in use and that’s pretty dangerous. I was keen to compare it to this, this doesn’t collapse. That’s an instant ‘win’ over my fold-up model.

The first thing you notice about this board is the size of the ironing surface, it’s huge, much bigger than it looks in the picture because the iron rest itself is over-sized to safely house a steam unit. I don’t have a steam unit, so my iron has plenty of room to rest. The ultra-wide surface area means that ironing is considerably quicker, you spend less time adjusting your garments and it’s perfect for lazy ironers like me – I can just place my t-shirt along the ironing board and press it (I don’t bother doing both sides – it preserves my funky t-shirt prints).

The height of the board is fully adjustable, I’m 6’2″ (nearly) with a bad back (from stooping) and I can use this comfortably. More Hobbit-sized individuals will find that this can also be used at fairly low-heights too. It’s easy to adjust and feels very steady indeed, this is a rugged feeling contraption and I have no doubts that this will give years of loyal surface.

In a nutshell: Sometimes an ironing board isn’t just an ironing board – this really does make ironing much more efficient. It’s so impressively large I know any visitors will get ironing board envy.

A very solid and sturdy ironing board with a variety of heights to suit. From the moment you pick this up you can tell its a quality ironing board (all 9kg or so of it). The sturdy frame is made of the good stuff and should last a very long time if not a lifetime (well its guaranteed for 10 years).

I don’t often buy ironing boards and so thought I would get this slightly more expensive item to see what the difference was. I must say this is much nicer, convenient and practical to use than anything I have had previously. The board surface area is excellent giving a generous amount of ironing space to use. This coupled with the iron rest (which is ridged to stop irons dropping off) allows for hassle free ironing chores, allowing you to accomplish ironing tasks much easier and quicker.

The supplied ironing cover is great and irons will simply glide over it without the usual friction of some other covers I have used, and really does help speed up the ironing process immensely. The height level of the board can be adjusted to a number of different settings, so accommodating different sitting or standing positions with ease.

Conclusion: A quality product from a quality home wares manufacturer offering good ironing surface area and a drip prevention system to stop floors getting wet. Coupled with a 10 year guarantee you should have complete peace of mind. Perhaps looking quite expensive, but factor in the number of years of hassle free usage and its good value. The only real issue is no supplied linen shelf for putting finished clothes on as you iron. Also since its quite a bit larger than some ironing boards space may be a slight issue for some.

Pros: sturdy, nice design, good surface area, 10 year guarantee, stable in use, multiple height settings
Cons: Too large for smaller spaces?, no built in linen shelf

This is a brilliant ironing board; it has a very solid frame with absolutely no wobble and is so well built it will clearly last for many years.

It features a metal tray big enough to hold a steamer unit and has a neat little system on the board [Perfectflow] that makes it very easy to iron the more stubbornly creased of clothes. Best bit for me though is the width of the board itself- it’s really wide and great for ironing larger items particularly shirts. Pricey, but you do get high quality and if you can spare ninety quid I think it is worth it because it will last a lifetime.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersSo, all in all, an impressive service and I must admit to never being so keen on doing the ironing in my life, especially at the weekend!

In fact, in my haste, I missed the key words in the item description – ‘STEAM UNIT HOLDER’, so it was a far more serious piece of equipment than I was expecting!
Not being in possession of that recommended steam unit , at this moment in time, my regular iron sits happily, and safely, on the ridged resting plate and – a personal accidental bonus here – is that being of similar colour distribution, they look like they were made for each other!

Anyway, this heavyweight arrived packed in several sheets of plastic and the first and only real task was getting it out of the packaging in the first place!
On opening the blue and white ‘bubbles’ design was instantly pleasing to the eye along with the nonchalant silver-grey frame. The ironing board has black ‘feet’.

Despite its weight it is easy to select a height, which is a smooth action. It has seven adjustable settings so one is bound to suit, whether you stand or sit to attend to this never-go-away chore!

The physical length including the ironing stand is a massive 157 cm.
The ironing area is BIG at 125 cm x 45 cm as advertised, narrowing at 85 cm and tapering in to a rounded point to help master the art of sleeves, and such like.
It took some time to get used to just how much extra ironing space there was compared to my old board. The pain of ironing the super-king size duvet covers was well reduced!

On that first use, I seemed to glide through the ironing pile, certainly with more enthusiasm but also with more precision than usual.

It is a solid board – no creaking or groaning – absolutely no shaking. The metal iron stand is silver-grey coloured and measures around 46 cm x 31 cm with three ridges in the indented area and a maximum weight guide of 10 KG.
It collapses as easily as it erects and stores nicely away in the utility cupboard.

I’ve found this ironing board just perfect for what it is designed for, ie use with a steam generator iron. It’s extremely solid when put up – the seven different heights mean you can get it to the perfect height, and the platform accommodates my rather huge and heavy iron with ease. I like the fact that the platform has a rim, meaning any spills are contained.

Personally I like a 45cm wide board like this one – it does mean that this board is quite large to store however, it’s approximately 160 cm tall when folded and stood on its side and about 8.5cm thick by my measurements.

A larger ironing board I previously owned was less well padded than this one – I think Brabantia have done a great job of designing a cover that can cope with the steam output of my iron. When ironing I find the board the right shape for shirts and duvet covers alike, it’s quite pointy.

There is no assembly with this board which I think is very well made and I would imagine the 10 year guarantee is probably indicative of the durability of this board. I had been struggling to find a board for steam generators, my preferred way of ironing, and this one is just perfect. It’s a little pricey but worth it I think, given the build quality and the fact that it actually makes ironing easier.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is a nicely finished, functional ironing board with a pleasant, bright cover (that clings onto clothes just enough that they don’t slip off while you’re ironing.) Being slightly wider than the average you can iron more surface without repositioning the material; it feels solidly constructed, does not shake or creak in use and is easy to put up and fold away when you’re done. There is nothing to complain about here.

I like this. It is not the cheapest ironing board you’ll find but it’s rather better built than the cheap ones and the extra width makes ironing that little bit easier. It also comes ready assembled so there is no faffing around with screws and puzzling pieces of metal.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis ironing board is big.

I didn’t even have to see it to know that it was big. My wife phoned me and let me know, `have you seen how big this ironing board is?’ she asked me.

I replied that I hadn’t seen how big the ironing board was, it would be difficult for me to see how big the ironing board was I replied, because I was 50 miles away in another county.

When I got back later that day, I did indeed see how big the ironing board was. Our current ironing board looked forlorn.

That is where the problem lies. It is a large and relatively robust ironing board. It has a weight to it that might, if you are of slight build give you a work out every time you take it out of the cupboard to do the ironing.

Unfortunately, my wife is of slight build, we have in the past had to get light weight saucepans, my cast iron pans are only ever used when I cook and as I do all the cooking I have no idea why we had to buy light weight ones. In the past we also had to get a light light-weight push chair and even a light weight iron to do the ironing.

Yes it is a big ironing board, but it is up there with the best of them, solid stable and with a great ironing surface. The large iron stand at the back is a perfect size and will accommodate any size and weight of irons.

My wife is slight, but I am not and this ironing board helps make short work of my shirts and trousers. I love not having to re-arrange the shirts multiple times to get a good finish, it is robust and solid and looks like it will stand the test of time. I can understand why they are happy to give such a guarantee, it’s probably unbreakable.

The size of the board is actually relative, it might not suit some people but it will be enormously useful to others so it would not be fair to mark it down on its size. It is a very good ironing board though if you participate in the sport of Extreme Ironing you may want to stick with a more lightweight transportable one.

My wife and I have come to a compromise, when it is my turn to do the ironing I will use this ironing board, when it is my wife’s turn to do the ironing, she will hand me the iron.

I never thought I’d say this but this Ironing Board almost makes Ironing a pleasure and that’s coming from a man. I invested in the Brabantia Flex Guide as well. Many years ago I bought a cheap Ironing Board with the wire mesh and it put me right off this type of ironing board, so I struggled on with a tiny old board.

This Ironing Board is really well made, no wobbly legs as in one other poor review. A good solid mesh top with a nice thick foam cover which I thought may hamper ironing. I was wrong, it actually makes it’s easier. It is fairly heavy. Good height adjustment. It has a large working surface, so hooray, trousers fit on in one go and tops don’t have to be continually moved. I also thought that trouser tops wouldn’t fit over end but the width is just right.

So all in all well done Brabantia. I also got it 10 cheaper than Argos buying on Amazon…

Was also very cautious though as needed to ensure it was high enough so that I wasn’t stooped. This replaced a cheap supermarket one which we had for a couple of months but were very unhappy with, and we are very pleased with it. The reason for knocking a star off is that it doesn’t lock closed which can be annoying. Apart from that it does everything an ironing board should – it’s stable in use, is wide enough to mean that you don’t have to keep rearranging the item you’re ironing, and there’s a decent thickness of foam on it. A good buy.

It is hard to get too excited about an ironing board!!…..but very pleased indeed with this one. It is big and solid, but you need it to be to hold a Steam Unit. No fear of it wobbling around with the weight of the unit, and the holder is plenty big enough to fit it on. I like to have my ironing board high so I dont have to bend over to iron so this one is great for me as the top height setting is higher than any others I’ve had before. My husband on the other hand likes the ironing board to be lower down and so all the other settings are good for him. He has had endless hours of fun doing the ironing since we got a steam unit and this ironing board!!!

We have been using our Aqua bowl for at least 3 years now an it performs well , a large iornign space robust enough to hold the seam generator Generally not too difficult to fill the bowl at teh end of an iorning session however we have recently found that the bowl comes off during the iorning which i am disapointed with as it was a very expensive product I am going to wribe very hamppy to recommend it as it has eliminated the drips and it allows the Iorning board cover ( It have been replaced) to dry fully.

Golden Review Award: 131 From Our UsersAfter buying a Bosch steam iron unit, I struggled for a year with my very serviceable but average sized John Lewis ironing board. It was such a bother setting up an extra table next to the board for the heavy steam iron unit. This board is large and robust. It feels very steady with the steam iron unit on its holder and is a pleasure to use. The packaging states the holder can take up to 7kg in weight. My large Bosch is just under. Being large, there is less faffing around with the clothes. The board does get quite wet underneath after a 2 hour session. I’ve owned it 6 months so far and there is no rust. My only gripe is that the lowest height setting is quite high (77cm), no perching on any low stool. The highest is 96cm.
