This product definitely saves energy and water! Hubby hadn’t realised how much unnecessary water, and therefore energy, he’d been using just to make a cuppa, until we got this. The water seems cleaner, giving a fresher taste to our drinks, but the best bit is the speed! You could be mistaken for thinking your tea makes itself, because it knows you’re coming home from work! Would highly recommend!

We bought this as there are only 2 of us and found we were boiling a kettle of water containing usually too much water so not very energy efficient. The Breville is great, it boils the exact amount you need whether it be a cup or a mug and boils so quickly.
Brilliant for the days I’m working from home, by the time I get the milk from the fridge the water is boiled. I would highly recommend this product.

Excellent gift for my elderly parents. They struggled to lift a kettle and do this water dispenser is a great alternative.
They drink lots of tea and find the quick dispense of water and changeable volume an excellent feature.
You can fill in situ with a jug, as it’s quite heavy to lift full, Or remove from base and fill.

This is great – I have had a couple of other instant water boilers but this one is by far the best particularly for the ability to adjust the amount of water dispensed so it you want a cup of water or a large mug you can regulate it accordingly

Bought this to replace my old one which I had for several years. This one is really good for being able to get various cup sizes and the water is hot, unlike others, I have tried in the past. The beauty of a machine like this is that you don’t have to wait for a kettle to boil plus you are only heating the right amount of water. Really good product and have already recommended it to others in the family.

I had the hot cup which is the smaller version, I’ve had it for a few years and it was fine for my China mugs but not the other ones as only three quarter filled them. This version has a variable mug size dial. Much better for people who prefer a big chunk mug and I can still dial down for my China one. Happy lady

Having had two of the earlier one cups and tried a couple of the later models this particular model is by far the best up to date so easy to fill especially if your getting on in years all you need is a 500 mls jug the top opening is really wide and allows easy filling of fresh water and once you have the preset water delivery amount for your chosen mug or cup it’s ready to go

  37. Anonymous says:

I think this is really good, the ability to only boil one cup at a time, and select how much water is great and saves electricity. Only thing I would add for future models would be having a free flow option like a kettle of those times you need more than one cup.

  38. SusanneHillman says:

Had cancer and got pains in my hands so got this and it pours exactly 250mls which has been really helpful when baking. Also my family prefer to use it than our kettle since it boils water faster. And it’s great that you can turn it on and it will pour the water itself meaning you can leave you mug under it, turn it on and leave it. Just make sure you don’t forget to leave a mug under it, although there is a tray that will collect the water if you do.

The only potential downside is it’s extremely loud but that’s not a problem with me.

Seniors win with this Hot water dispenser (a kettle really) on two accounts. (1) you can top up the dispenser with a small jug and thus save lifting a full kettle – both from the tap and when poring into a tea cup etc. (2) secondly, you save power, you can set the cup size for dispensing and the machine only bouils the amount you require. Unlike a kettle that boils its full contents.
This is the best purchase I have made this year to help in the kitchen. It has many advantages for everyday use – for coffee, soups, sauce mixes etc.

I am very happy with this kettle A bit awkward if you want to make a pot of tea or coffee but for individual cups it’s perfect.

  41.  United Kingdom

The Breville is very quick at boiling a cup of water, it has various settings to allow for the correct amount of water to be dispensed, it looks good. I would when you purchase, fill it to maximum and boil out the water twice before using for a cup of tea, to take away the plastic aftertaste. It would not be noticeable with coffee. Overall very happy with the product.

  42. Anonymous says:

does a really good job, quicker than a ‘teasmaid’ almost a third cheaper, and without being woken 20 mins beforehand with the noise the ‘teasmaid’ kettle makes whilst it boils the water.
This Breville is great, boils a mug of water in about 30 seconds.
I set it up before going to bed, put a teabag and sweeteners in my mug put it directly under the spout on its own draining stand. Press the button and it lights up blue.
I just add milk when it’s done.
I know it only makes 1 cup/mug (you dial which size you want) but I’m on my own so thats fine, but when it boils so quickly its not a problem to put another cup under the spout and repeat the process
Would I buy it again, ? in a heart beat.

This is essentially a kettle that is hands free dispensing.
As you can see from the pictures the space beneath the dispensing point is large enough to take a 5.5″/14cm high jug.
The temperature in the jug read at 89C. So it’ll be a few degrees higher at dispensing point. Plenty hot enough for tea, coffee and pot noodles.
The smallest amount dispensed is approx 6 fl oz/175ml. The largest is 10fl oz/300 ml. I tried the double shot in my large mug which was a bit too much. Twice on the mid setting was perfect though, making the middle setting 7.5 fl oz/200 ml each time.
I timed the largest at 42 seconds from pressing start to dispensing start.
The splutter is minimal but there is some …as you’d expect with scalding water.
It is a useful addition to my kitchen, especially for times when my wrists are painful but I will probably keep a kettle for cooking purposes. If you use a lot of boiling water for topping up saucepans and the like then this is not for you.

    Not ideal for xxl mugs

Great bit of kit, best thing is putting your cup in place, press the button and leave it to do its thing!!!! It will only poor for a lager cup at its max so when filling a large jug you have to press it again but this isn’t a problem. Nice to know you’re not boiling more water then is necessary, highly recommend.

These kettles are great. The adjustment means you can easily cope with different size mugs and cups and one shot will fill a standard mug.

Quick boiling and whilst noisy for the instant they are doing their thing they are much quicker than any kettle.

Economic and good for the environment, I never waste water. Great for the office because we fill it and a couple of jugs for topping up during the day and can have tea and coffee easily.

This is my third one of these (different locations), I love them

Having seen my daughter’s Breville, I chose this to replace an existing, but failing water boiler. I ant disappointed. It boils quickly and provides a consistent amount of boiling water very quickly. It takes a little while to get the right amount, as the adjustments are sometimes quite small. A second cup is often slightly less full. Importantly, if you get too much water, the stop button is instantaneous. The only criticism is the water container is quite heavy which is a problem if you have weak wrists. I would certainly recommend i

I luv these water dispensers had one for years, it’s just given up the ghost. This is the only one with variable amount of water dispense, but it’s not as good as my old one (149). This one is less than 60 so great value for money.

  49. Anonymous says:

Easy and quick, saves money, only boils what you need. The max setting could produce a bit more, for big mugs

  50. Anonymous says:

Bought my original one in 2017. The opening mechanism in the lid finally died in Jan2022. Given that that one survived a whole family (including a chain tea drinker) through working from home for nearly 2 years in a hard water area – we had no hesitation ordering a replacement. New one is just as good as the old one – although I’d forgotten about the blue light as that had long since died on the old one!

We use a jug to fill, rather than lifting the unit.

It’s a bit of a pain if your making more than 2 cups of tea – as you need to make them all individually but I will take that over the alternative.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to use, but will require boiling twice on full setting for a man size mug. It will fill to the brim for a normal size mug, so adjust as needed. No complaints yet, but I’ve added extra cover for any future problems that may arise. Will boil 350ml on the highest setting.

    No problems ye

Very easy to use except the cup sizes are way off, a bit like goldilocks the small cup is too small and the medium is not much bigger and the big cup just doesn’t do it for me. I like a big mug you know the Sports Direct kind of mug… Dont judge me…mind your business… and I have to press more than once to fill up one of those. Saying that the fact that I don’t have to lift a kettle now is so much easier as I have arthritis. Worth the money? The jury is still out on that, did i just pay 71 for a quick boil kettle, possibly… Time will tell.
So far it is quicker than waiting for a full kettle to boil. A nice looking bit of kit with filter to catch the scummy water we have in this area, so that’s a bonus.

I bought this as I live alone, I don’t like the taste of reboiled water so only fill to the minimum level each time which seemed very wasteful. This is great, I can adjust the amount for different size cups as well.
I’ve recommended this to a friend for her elderly mother who struggled to lift a kettle, she loves it as well.
Maybe a bit expensive but I bought whilst on offfer.
    No complaints from me.

Being totally blind, I wanted something which could help me with making tea easily, without the risk of spilling boiling water everywhere! Well this was it. With a simple press of a button, the water boils and dispenses your selected amount with a simple dial to turn to change the cup size! No touch screen, nothing visual to worry about! Simply put your chosen cup/mug on the drip tray under the spout and press the button and off it goes, boils and pours the water straight into your cup when done. It’s fast, too. I can walk away and come back to a brewing cup of tea! As soon as my current one breaks I’ll buy another one. I absolutely love this and would recommend higher than 5 stars if I could! Thank you so much Breville, now I can enjoy tea, or making noodles, gravy etc with total ease. Everyone should have one! Also a big tank, so don’t have to refill often. This version is much better than the first one, that one doesn’t have variable dispense and the tank is smaller. I say again, fantastic product. I can’t fault it at all.

For one or two people this is so much easier than a kettle. First cup (mug size) takes about 45 secs, a second just after about 10 secs less. Adjustable volume works well, water boiling hot and it looks smart too. Would def go with at least 2L version.

I bought this for my parents as they were struggling to lift a standard kettle. It is very neat and tidy. It is strong and sturdy. It has different options of how much water is needed to dispense. It boils very quickly. They love it and would not be without it now.

Only downside i would say is to be aware of splatters of boiling water as it drops into your mug or cup. There is no need to stand under this anyway as it will fill to your specified amount but as it also give you the option to stop the flow of boiling water too just be aware of tiny splatters dispensing.

All in all a fantastic product.

I bought this for my 90 year old mum as lifting a kettle was becoming difficult, she has had no problems adapting to using this, it’s simplicity itself, she adjusts the amount of water she puts in according to the size mug she is using. It boils very quickly, 30/40 seconds at most and the water is lovely and hot. A bonus is it uses a lot less electricity than her kettle as she just boils what she needs. She is very pleased with it and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it.

Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone – if you are considering this then go for it – you will be so glad you did!

Bought this nearly 4 years ago when we realised how much energy it took to boil the kettle simply for a cup of tea (my husband pretty much only drinks tea at home). For what it is, it isn’t expensive at all and a great option to test out if it’s worth having before investing in an instant boil tap. The kettle has been relegated to a cupboard and only comes out if we have multiple people over to make hot drinks for. We’ve never had any issues with the machine and if it broke we would 100% buy it again.

We use this product for making tea and coffee and any other products that need boiling water. We love the facility of being able to adjust the setting to a small cup up to a large mug, plus if you have it on the wrong setting you can press the “stop” button and it will stop dispensing hot water. The drip tray and exterior are easy to clean. I would recommend this kettle to anyone. I am disabled and am unable to lift heavy objects so it is ideal for me. Love it!

This was bought for my mum, who had already used the previous model for over 4 years so this was simply a replacement as the old one scaled up and various bits stopped working properly – to be expected after 4 years of daily use. This machine is ideal for older people who cannot easily lift and balance kettles as you can just put in a cupful of water and get a hot cupful out in a very short time.
Absolutely perfect for older people but nearly as good as a hot water tap for anyone if you cannot get one of these fitted in your kitchen – and much cheaper.
Could really not manage to be without it.

This is the third one I’ve bought for my mum in maybe 5 years.
She is 91 and can’t pick up a kettle with arthritic hands.
They are brilliant, you only have to press a button to fill your cup with hot water.
She uses a small plastic jug to refill the water cavity as obviously to pick up the whole thing to refill it is very heavy for her.
Although I do like this, I do think it should last a bit longer than a couple of years (kettles last ages!!)
But unfortunately it is the cheapest of its kind (I’ve only ever found 1 other of this type and its much more expensive)
Amazon had a special offer on when I bought it so got it for 35, and in argos it was 45. So they’re not cheap!
    Just wish they lasted longer.

The only disappointing thing with this. It has a dial to allow the amount of water you require for different size cups. Not sure if mine works correctly as there is very little change between the dots and maximum amount that I get on full is only 300ml.

Does everything that it claims. Have not needed to use my kettle since I bought it! Had to try it for different cup sizes and it would be useful to have volumes for each of the settings. It takes 45 seconds to boil on maximum setting, and 35 seconds on minimum setting. Excellent for one cup use, would still use my kettle to boil enough for a pot full of coffee or tea!

Highly recommended this particular one. So easy to use and fill up , has adjustable cup size. Great 2ltr tank, don’t need to fill as often. Good for someone who struggles to use a kettle. Boils faster than a kettle. I put the pan under it to get water to boil and switched on the kettle . Water was boiling on cooker before kettle boiled . Wouldn’t be without it now so much safer .

This is very useful for those who only need to make a single hot drink and is extremely useful for anyone who finds it difficult to safely lift a kettle of hot water. You simply fill the reservoir, set the volume for your favourite cup or mug, press the large button and away you go. Unlike the way most of us use a regular kettle the dispenser only heats the water you need so doesn’t waste energy heating water that stays in the kettle.

Very happy with the hot cup dispenser. Once I got the right setting for our cup sizes we can now set a cup of coffee/tea going whilst getting on with other things. As for Amazon delivery, there I had a problem, it was delivered and left on our doorstep, lucky enough I was in the living room and saw the delivery guy come to my door and walk off again so I was able to get straight out and collect it before it went walk about, to say it wasn’t boxed in a box that didn’t show what was inside either it would of definitely gone walk about! No ringing of bell either, just dumped and left!
    Happy with dispenser though.

i am so happy I bought this machine. I had a very bad habit of putting too much water in the kettle and also of boiling it more than once as i would wander off while it was heating up then remember i was going to make a drink! It took a couple of days to get used to the different settings as i have different sized cups but am now used to it. The largest cup setting I use to make my tea in the teapot in a morning & this gives me two cups, just perfect. Over time, I am sure I will save a goodly amount on previously wasted electricity.

I got this one, which has an integrated tank, as I was fed-up of my previous instant kettle leaking intermittently. I like that you press a button and can walk away as it will stop when it reaches the level you have set. I use setting seven, as that fits a British mug nicely and leaves room for a good splosh of milk / milk substitute. If drinking a drink without milk, I’d recommend 8 or 9 for a typical UK mug size.

I really only use my existing kettle for boiling water for cups of tea and coffee. I put just enough water in the kettle each time I boil up. I know someone who has a Breville HotCup water dispenser and I have been impressed with how easy it is to use.

This product is nicely packaged and takes up no more space than a regular kettle. The whole body lifts off for filling, so it will fit under wall hung kitchen cupboards with no problems. It has a continuously variable rotary lever so you can set the desired cup size. Once set up, making a cup of tea is as simple as dropping a teabag in the cup, put the cup/mug under the nozzle, press the button and, hey presto, one perfect cup of tea. The large reservoir capacity means I only have to top it up once every day or so.

If you want to boil water for a large number of cups at once or a teapot, then I would recommend using a regular kettle. Other than that, go get one – it’s a great product.

This is our 2nd Breville one-cup kettle as the other started to take an age to boil. After 7 years of usage and sell used each day, it was a superb piece of kitchen kit.
The new replacement seemed a little lighter although performs exactly as the original but they’ve reduced the thickness of the plastic all-around (maybe a good thing) yet the bottom metal cup-place doesn’t stay in place like the older version did. The result being that whenever we put a cup underneath the dispenser, we also have to reposition the drip tray too.
5 stars for the original yet 4 stars for the new one.

I like the way the Breville is easy to use and set up, the adjustable amount makes sure you get the correct amount for the size of mug every time. The water temperature is set but it’s just right for tea and coffee, in fact a perfect cuppa every time. I would definitely recommend this excellent heater to any one with arthritic hands as there is no carrying a kettle with boiling water and no risk of spillage, one of my favourite kitchen appliances.

    Excellent for arthritis sufferers!

I bought this for making cups of tea in my bedsit. It saves me having to go through to the shared kitchen to boil a kettle. It holds a good amount of water, for about 4 mugs in my case, which I fill from a jug rather than carry the rather large water compartment to the sink. It boils just the amount of water I need very quickly. The temperature is just as I like it. The only thing I don’t like is the chrome parts on the front and the drip tray. These are actually plastic and scratch very easily with use. Apart from that, nice piece of equipment. Glad I bought it.

We needed a new kettle and despite being a bit sceptical about whether we’d see any difference, we decided we’d give this a go. Ok, so this is just a kettle with a filter inside it (depending on which version you buy) but there are definite benefits. The kettle takes just 45 seconds to boil a mug of water, but because the kettle dispenses the exact amount of boiled water that you’ve set you can just leave your mug with your tea bag or coffee on the tray, press the dispense button and walk away rather than having to stand, wait and then pour. Being a Brita machine the filter works well, making a nice cup of tea even in a hard water area and it’s a nice looking machine. I would definitely recommend this machine.

This was what I originally had in its smaller version and have tried another and although robustly made I found great fault (on a personal level )it didn’t measure the water I like to do other little jobs rather than just stand there waiting to fill up and twice the other one overflowed so for me this one is the totally perfect machine Would have gone for the stainless one but got enough filters for cooler to buy Unless of course you can operate without Highly recommended

This does exactly what it’s meant to: boils one cup of water within 60 seconds. The reservoir is easy to fill and if it’s too cumbersome to fill from the tap you can use a jug. It’s not as quiet as some kettles but you wouldn’t expect it to be as the boiling water is coming out of the machine and its only going for less than a minute. I’m really happy with it and pleased I’m not wasting electricity by boiling more water than is needed.

Very impressed with this device in that it will provide a mug or cup of hot water in a short space of time with adjustments for both sizes and a stop button in the event that the cup is full and you’ve still got it in the mug setting!! The water reservoir is a good size and is easily refilled and as you are only boiling what you need it’s more energy efficie

I was not sure about buying this as we are used to a kettle. Really pleased I did change. It’s super easy to use, gives you just the amount you need and I really can’t complain. You fill it up just like a kettle -though it gets heavy-and the water gauge is easy to see when it needs refilling. Looks good next to our coffee machine.

Not ideal if you need cooking water as have to press multiple times. Have used it to fill a teapot – difficult to position underneath but it was fine-mostly don’t use a teapot anyway.

I would recommend and I am sure it will be more economical than a kettle using only the water out need.

I had a bit of a problem with the first one I bought, I contacted Amazon to speak with an advisor. The man was so lovely understood straight away the problem and had it solved in minutes. The next day a brand new kettle arrived, tried it out and it’s working perfectly made myself a lovely cuppa . This is a fantastic kettle it’s an upgrade for my smaller Breville one-cup Now I don’t have to worry about switching the kettle on and forgetting about it, it stops when it’s filled the cup to your desired amount. I had the smaller Breville kettle for 9years before it started to play up last week, 9 year is really good for any small electrical item to last that long, so can’t complain and the reason I choose Breville again. I hope this one lasts as long or there abouts I was lost without my old one all week waiting to order this new one, they are the fantastic so quick no waiting for kettles to boil, you get is hot drink in an instant, I couldn’t do without it in my home. It’s worth every penny.
Thank You so very much Amazon for sorting this out yesterday, your advisor Ahmed was absolutely amazing, so very knowledgeable, polite and kind. One of the best advisor’s I’ve spoken to, and I’ve spoken with a good few. Also thank You so very much for emptying such amazing staff. They are a credit to you.

My 89 year-old mum has had the almost identical model (this lights up blue, her original lit up red) for the past three years or so. After this time the original quit working, she thought it was too soon and should have lasted longer. She lives in an area with very hard water, I’m not sure if that had any bearing on the issue. Anyway, I was pleased to find this on Amazon and at a cheaper price than paid three years ago. This model has variable dispensing so that you can adjust it to the exact amount for the size of mug. This appliance sits out on the countertop and is easy to fill with cold water from a jug. There is no picking up boiling kettles full of water, so it is safe for young and old alike. All round a brilliant invention.

My eldely mother was complaining that she struggled to lift the kettle due to her increasing deteriorating arthritis in hands, and in truth just getting older and weaker.
After looking around for an alternative I stumbled on this.
Its a god send, easy to use and no more lifting of kettles and boiling hot water. Problem solved.
I would get another one if and eventually when it stops working.

We’ve been using the larger of the original non-filtered models since 2012, it’s gave us good service but the spring on the lid failed about a year ago, and then one of the LEDs failed about a month ago, and what with the years of accrued scale that’s progressively harder to remove (and these devices aren’t the easiest thing to descale), so we decided it probably was due a replacement due to the hassle of prying the lid open.

The filtered edition. The good first. The dispensing section is unchanged, so it seems to boil at around the same speed (probably a little faster given lack of age and scaling etc, but likely not enough to be notice). Stop and Go buttons and cup size are also same. The overflow drain section snaps into place, unlike the other model which merely rests over a nub, so it’s now more secure and makes it easier to move the whole thing to clean around and under it. The filter adds an extra layer of filtering, and we’re trying a dual filter approach, applying already-filtered water, and offsetting the replacement of this one by two week, so at most the water filter is only two weeks old, so we are getting less scaley cups than we would the end of the regular single-filter month cycle. No doubt someone will say double-filtered gives you cancer or makes the Earth square, but we’ll take our chances.

The downside: filling the thing. In our opinion lid is pretty rubbish. The obsession Brita has with the stupid, useless LED meter is baffling. It’s just a dumb 28-day countdown timer, and given the battery in them only lasts a couple of years anyway, and the entire thing is a sealed and as with the jugs, an irreplacable system, they add no value, just e-waste, and get in the way.

Yet in order to accomodate it, absolutely unncessarily in a product whose lifespan should FAR exceed the life of the rubbish meter, Breville have been forced to make the fill opening far smaller. So it’s much harder to fill it than the other models. You can’t really get at it adequately from the side, so you have to over the top of the front control panel and be really methodical; there’s not really any margin of error in one’s accuracy in pouring.

It also seems to have compromised the build quality: I’m not expecting the spring on this one to last nigh-on ten years like our old one did.

Next revision, do away with that damn pointless meter and just make it a robust proper, full-sized lid that is easy to fill. This is, after all, a kettle, not a water jug. And remember, because of the filter taking up a large amount of volume, you need to fill it ~three times as often.

This is a good product, but the replacing our vintage model due to a fiddly broken lid for this one, ironically the filling the thing is only marginally less fiddly.

Double-filtering’s great, but it’s not Angela Lansbury’s copper kettle either.

This is the third Breville Hot Water Dispenser we have had. We always use filtered water because we live in an area where the water comes from a bore hole and hence is very hard and tastes, also kettles do fur up very quickly and it is therefore a constant battle. The first dispenser the opening spring on the lid broke, and I could see no way to replace it. The second one was an out of box failure in as much that no matter how much I filtered the water or how many times I run water through boiling each mugful I could not get rid of the foul taste. the third one works fine after following the enclosed instruction for a new device. We continue to use the device many times a day, I believe thee expression is the pot never goes cold ……somewhat of an exaggeration ut you get the idea

Don’t know how we lived without this item. We have used it now for 13 months with no problems at all. Some say they have a problem with the taste but from the start we have had no issues. Tea and coffee taste great. This item does what it says; dispenses one cupful of hot water for tea and coffee heating only the water required for that one cup. I use for gravy, jelly, oxos and sauces. It doesn’t boil like a kettle but tea bags, loose leaf tea, instant coffee and fresh ground coffee taste better with the one cup. I use a kettle for visitors if there are more than 2, other than that it’s the one cup. It’s filled 4 or 5 times a day and is the best thing ever bought. It does splash a bit with certain mugs and the chrome front needs wiping a couple of times a day. I would prefer that part to be black. As I have arthritis I sometimes fill with a jug but can manage to lift the breville to the tap on good days. Hope it lasts a few years but will definitely replace when needed.

I bought this for my 89 year old mum. She started to struggle lifting the normal kettle. It boils the water very quickly and the water is boiling….. Infact hotter than the normal kettle. I was so impressed with it I bought another one for myself. I would definetly recommend this product. It is ideal for people who find it difficult to lift a normal kettle. It can be left on stand and you can use a container to fill it, so other than cleaning you do not have to lift it once it is set up.

We’ve only had this a week, so may be a bit early to give a throrough review. However, I have been looking for one of these at a decent price for a while and this was the best price I had seen in a while. They aren’t cheap! We’ve had a breville one cup for 3 years and was really happy with it, but we have the worst hard water and it is really difficult to descale it. This seemed like a perfect idea, same convenience but with the built in filter.
So far so good. It seems to be doing the job well. Had a small issue this morning when the cartridge just wouldn’t filter, so had to take it out and give it a rinse off and put it back in. It all seems good again.
This model has the variable cup size which our old one didn’t. That is really helpful and it only took a few plays with it to work out what settings we needed it on for our different cup sizes.
I’ve really noticed the difference between this and our old one with my black coffee. It is hotter and so much clearer.
Obviously there will be an ongoing expense with the Brita cartridges , but I still think it is going to prove a good investment.

We also have a different model. That one has one cup size setting. This new one is great in having several cup size settings. Really handy option for your different size cups or mugs. What I am not so keen on is that the remaining water left in the reservoir gets quite warm after each use. After a few cups over several hours this water is not exactly fresh and must be using more energy. This is not our experience with our other, one size, model where the water in the reservoir stays cool.

This is probably my 4th Breville hot cup. Not because they keep breaking, but because my husband takes my old ones to work to use as he prefers these to the traditional kettle. I have looked at lots of kettles but keep going back to this model. It is easy to fill, pressing a button and the lid flipping up. it has a dial on the top to select the amount of water to dispense. I opt for a mug, which it fills adequately. It also has a button which immediately stops the water dispensing if needed. The water has no nasty taste, which is another reason I opt for this machine.
The only thing I would change about the Hot cup is that the dispensing nozzle doesn’t come off to clean and living in a hard water area it doe sometimes get limescale around the tip. other than that I can’t fault it.

I bought this product due to the fact that with my Parkinson’s I had enough of either scolding myself using a kettle or spilling it and or the drink I was making, by catching the mug with the kettle. This is perfect for my use as you place the mug on the drip tray and as you can alter the amount of boiling water to be dispensed you can set it as I do to only dispen 3/4 of a mug so no more spilling due to my tremors.
It is easy to set up and use and keep clean. Also has a handy stop function so if the mug is getting to full ypu can easily stop it.
As it only boils the amount of water you need for your coffee, it is efficient. We find it is fine for just the 2 of us as it makes 2 mugs of coffee a lot quicker than boiling a kettle. However we are keeping our kettle as once we are allowed visitors again the kettle will be probably quicker and easier as long as I am not pouring the kettle.
It is easy to fill using a plastic jug in to the large water tank at the rear, had a blue light on when making the drink and is easy to clean.
We use filtered water as we live in a hard water area to reduce the need for regular descaling as we did for the kettle previously.

    I bought this as I have Parkinson's

Had four of these hot cups now, they are perfect for my wife who has rheumatoid arthritis in her hands and cannot use a normal kettle, unfortunately the have one major fault and that is the spring in the lid is not strong enough and eventually breaks, which means you cannot open the lid. It would be quite easy to change the spring but Breville cannot or will not sell this item as a spare part. Their solution is to offer a replacement kettle at a slightly reduced price. Good for business but not good for the customer. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a better appliance on the market, unless anyone knows differently. In the meantime we are of to buy kettle number five.

I had a previous version of this, which lasted 9 years. This one is fantastic. I love the variable dispense choices and the fact that I can stop the flow at any time. It heats the water fast and is hotter than my previous kettle. Having a 2 litre tank means I don’t have to fill as often. A bit more expensive than I hoped to pay, but worth every penny, especially if it lasts as long as the previous one.

Bought mine in Jan 2019 and have never had a problem.
    It has a couple of things to be aware of;
Cooking, if you cook i.e. making gravy or filling a thermos flask, it’s too smal to get a jug of flask etc under so you have to boil several cups and pour them in, no a problem just a hassle.
Noise; it is not a quiet boil so if you fancy a cuppa in the early morning when the rest of the house is asleep, close the kitchen door!
Mug size; With the model we have (VKJ142) the amount of water dispenses is not variable, so a smaller mug can have little space for milk, a large mug will be 2/3rds full and there is no stop function so you get a cupful and then the other 2/3rd over the work top!
None of wich are a problem, but affect your decision to buy this model, but it boils water, quickly, to a good temperature, easy to fill and clean – recomended

I’ve had the model below this before and it broke so I decided to get this one. With this hot cup I can choose the size of the cup I’m using, where with my old one I couldn’t. Love having this option. I will say the full kettle is rather heavy to lift and take to the sink to fill and I would definitely recommend using a plastic jug to fill it with water instead. The instructions tell you how many cups to throw away on your first use, I would definitely recommend doing at least four full jugs worth of water because there was a plastic taste at first. It’s absolutely fine now. I recently hurt my back and lifting a kettle to pour hot water would’ve been painful but this one cup machine was a saver! Definitely recommend it.

I have never drunk so many hot drinks ever! This fab machine has replaced our kettle and is so handy and quick to use for a cuppa anytime. Water tank easy to fill, take it to the tap or use a jug. Variable quantity from an expresso to large mug, turn the dial to adjust and done! plus a large stop button if you need! Great for singles or a couple but anymore peeps you will need the kettle otherwise it will take for-ages to do individual drinks LOL.

I love it. I empty any residue and refill very morning and it holds enough for my teas and coffees throughout the day with just an added cup of water for bedtime drink. No constantly filling the kettle (always used to put too much in) and it heats much more quickly and fills the mug whilst I’m doing something else. The water doesn’t get to boiling so the cuppa will soon be ready to drink. Not sure that I woukd bother with it if making drinks for more than one person at a time, think the kettle would be handier, and the kettle still comes into use if I want a larger quantity of boiling water.
