Easy to use
Very easy to use except the cup sizes are way off, a bit like goldilocks the small cup is too small and the medium is not much bigger and the big cup just doesn’t do it for me. I like a big mug you know the Sports Direct kind of mug… Dont judge me…mind your business… and I have to press more than once to fill up one of those. Saying that the fact that I don’t have to lift a kettle now is so much easier as I have arthritis. Worth the money? The jury is still out on that, did i just pay 71 for a quick boil kettle, possibly… Time will tell.
So far it is quicker than waiting for a full kettle to boil. A nice looking bit of kit with filter to catch the scummy water we have in this area, so that’s a bonus.

Love i
I bought this as I live alone, I don’t like the taste of reboiled water so only fill to the minimum level each time which seemed very wasteful. This is great, I can adjust the amount for different size cups as well.
I’ve recommended this to a friend for her elderly mother who struggled to lift a kettle, she loves it as well.
Maybe a bit expensive but I bought whilst on offfer.
No complaints from me.
Water boile
This Breville water boiler is brilliant, quick boil, for 1 cup
easy fill, I use a plastic jug to transfer cold water from the tap
Able to adjust the amount of water dispensed
This is a replacement as my previous one developed a switch fault after 2 years constant use
Purchased from Amazon warehouse deals, great service with free delivery
I can't speak highly enough of this appliance!
Being totally blind, I wanted something which could help me with making tea easily, without the risk of spilling boiling water everywhere! Well this was it. With a simple press of a button, the water boils and dispenses your selected amount with a simple dial to turn to change the cup size! No touch screen, nothing visual to worry about! Simply put your chosen cup/mug on the drip tray under the spout and press the button and off it goes, boils and pours the water straight into your cup when done. It’s fast, too. I can walk away and come back to a brewing cup of tea! As soon as my current one breaks I’ll buy another one. I absolutely love this and would recommend higher than 5 stars if I could! Thank you so much Breville, now I can enjoy tea, or making noodles, gravy etc with total ease. Everyone should have one! Also a big tank, so don’t have to refill often. This version is much better than the first one, that one doesn’t have variable dispense and the tank is smaller. I say again, fantastic product. I can’t fault it at all.

Easy, quick, effective
Wasn’t sure on this after seeing some reviews but took a punt, and glad I did.
For one or two people this is so much easier than a kettle. First cup (mug size) takes about 45 secs, a second just after about 10 secs less. Adjustable volume works well, water boiling hot and it looks smart too. Would def go with at least 2L version.
First one leaked
First one leaked replacement seems to be ok but not what you’d expect at this price band would I buy again I ,m not sure
Compact, Neat and very easy to use.
I bought this for my parents as they were struggling to lift a standard kettle. It is very neat and tidy. It is strong and sturdy. It has different options of how much water is needed to dispense. It boils very quickly. They love it and would not be without it now.
Only downside i would say is to be aware of splatters of boiling water as it drops into your mug or cup. There is no need to stand under this anyway as it will fill to your specified amount but as it also give you the option to stop the flow of boiling water too just be aware of tiny splatters dispensing.
All in all a fantastic product.
Brillia
I bought this for my 90 year old mum as lifting a kettle was becoming difficult, she has had no problems adapting to using this, it’s simplicity itself, she adjusts the amount of water she puts in according to the size mug she is using. It boils very quickly, 30/40 seconds at most and the water is lovely and hot. A bonus is it uses a lot less electricity than her kettle as she just boils what she needs. She is very pleased with it and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it.
Simply the Bes
I used one of these at a friend’s house and loved it but honestly the price put me off – after all it’s just a kettle right? WRONG ! New kitchen so finally decided I would treat myself and buy one – so glad I did – I love my Breville Hotcup and only wish I had brought one sooner – it looks really smart on the worktop, its is so easy to operate and in my experience no issues with any aftertaste – it really does boil quickly. Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone – if you are considering this then go for it – you will be so glad you did!
After 4 years it's still going strong.
Bought this nearly 4 years ago when we realised how much energy it took to boil the kettle simply for a cup of tea (my husband pretty much only drinks tea at home). For what it is, it isn’t expensive at all and a great option to test out if it’s worth having before investing in an instant boil tap. The kettle has been relegated to a cupboard and only comes out if we have multiple people over to make hot drinks for. We’ve never had any issues with the machine and if it broke we would 100% buy it again.
So easy to use
We use this product for making tea and coffee and any other products that need boiling water. We love the facility of being able to adjust the setting to a small cup up to a large mug, plus if you have it on the wrong setting you can press the “stop” button and it will stop dispensing hot water. The drip tray and exterior are easy to clean. I would recommend this kettle to anyone. I am disabled and am unable to lift heavy objects so it is ideal for me. Love it!
Good quality hot water dispense
This was bought for my mum, who had already used the previous model for over 4 years so this was simply a replacement as the old one scaled up and various bits stopped working properly – to be expected after 4 years of daily use. This machine is ideal for older people who cannot easily lift and balance kettles as you can just put in a cupful of water and get a hot cupful out in a very short time.
Absolutely perfect for older people but nearly as good as a hot water tap for anyone if you cannot get one of these fitted in your kitchen – and much cheaper.
Could really not manage to be without it.

Instant hot wate
The water dispenser was recommended to me I’m pleased it was , instant hot water no need to stand and wait for the kettle to boil. Handy stop button if you need to dash and answer the phone or there’s someone at the door, there’s a dial on the top to however much water you may need for cup/ mug you are using , Ive recommended this product to my family , great produc
Brilliant item for older people, but don't last longer than 2 years!
This is the third one I’ve bought for my mum in maybe 5 years.
She is 91 and can’t pick up a kettle with arthritic hands.
They are brilliant, you only have to press a button to fill your cup with hot water.
She uses a small plastic jug to refill the water cavity as obviously to pick up the whole thing to refill it is very heavy for her.
Although I do like this, I do think it should last a bit longer than a couple of years (kettles last ages!!)
But unfortunately it is the cheapest of its kind (I’ve only ever found 1 other of this type and its much more expensive)
Amazon had a special offer on when I bought it so got it for 35, and in argos it was 45. So they’re not cheap!
Just wish they lasted longer.
Efficient and easy
Early to tell for a Christmas gift but it is quiet, efficient and very easy to use. So far so good. the blue colour when heating has also gone down well in the household

Easy to use
The only disappointing thing with this. It has a dial to allow the amount of water you require for different size cups. Not sure if mine works correctly as there is very little change between the dots and maximum amount that I get on full is only 300ml.
Does what it says on the box.
Does everything that it claims. Have not needed to use my kettle since I bought it! Had to try it for different cup sizes and it would be useful to have volumes for each of the settings. It takes 45 seconds to boil on maximum setting, and 35 seconds on minimum setting. Excellent for one cup use, would still use my kettle to boil enough for a pot full of coffee or tea!
So easy to use,to fill up.for someone who struggles to use a kettle . Highly rate this one .
Highly recommended this particular one. So easy to use and fill up , has adjustable cup size. Great 2ltr tank, don’t need to fill as often. Good for someone who struggles to use a kettle. Boils faster than a kettle. I put the pan under it to get water to boil and switched on the kettle . Water was boiling on cooker before kettle boiled . Wouldn’t be without it now so much safer .
Great for a single cuppa
This is very useful for those who only need to make a single hot drink and is extremely useful for anyone who finds it difficult to safely lift a kettle of hot water. You simply fill the reservoir, set the volume for your favourite cup or mug, press the large button and away you go. Unlike the way most of us use a regular kettle the dispenser only heats the water you need so doesn’t waste energy heating water that stays in the kettle.
Very easy to use
Very happy with the hot cup dispenser. Once I got the right setting for our cup sizes we can now set a cup of coffee/tea going whilst getting on with other things. As for Amazon delivery, there I had a problem, it was delivered and left on our doorstep, lucky enough I was in the living room and saw the delivery guy come to my door and walk off again so I was able to get straight out and collect it before it went walk about, to say it wasn’t boxed in a box that didn’t show what was inside either it would of definitely gone walk about! No ringing of bell either, just dumped and left!
Happy with dispenser though.

Love i
I really like ut but wish it would fill MY size cups eg I have to switch the switch twice because my cups are huge hahaha. But it is brilliant and so helpful with me being disabled
will save me money
i am so happy I bought this machine. I had a very bad habit of putting too much water in the kettle and also of boiling it more than once as i would wander off while it was heating up then remember i was going to make a drink! It took a couple of days to get used to the different settings as i have different sized cups but am now used to it. The largest cup setting I use to make my tea in the teapot in a morning & this gives me two cups, just perfect. Over time, I am sure I will save a goodly amount on previously wasted electricity.
Doesn't leak!
I got this one, which has an integrated tank, as I was fed-up of my previous instant kettle leaking intermittently. I like that you press a button and can walk away as it will stop when it reaches the level you have set. I use setting seven, as that fits a British mug nicely and leaves room for a good splosh of milk / milk substitute. If drinking a drink without milk, I’d recommend 8 or 9 for a typical UK mug size.
Replaces my existing kettle
I really only use my existing kettle for boiling water for cups of tea and coffee. I put just enough water in the kettle each time I boil up. I know someone who has a Breville HotCup water dispenser and I have been impressed with how easy it is to use.
This product is nicely packaged and takes up no more space than a regular kettle. The whole body lifts off for filling, so it will fit under wall hung kitchen cupboards with no problems. It has a continuously variable rotary lever so you can set the desired cup size. Once set up, making a cup of tea is as simple as dropping a teabag in the cup, put the cup/mug under the nozzle, press the button and, hey presto, one perfect cup of tea. The large reservoir capacity means I only have to top it up once every day or so.
If you want to boil water for a large number of cups at once or a teapot, then I would recommend using a regular kettle. Other than that, go get one – it’s a great product.

Original Was Bette
This is our 2nd Breville one-cup kettle as the other started to take an age to boil. After 7 years of usage and sell used each day, it was a superb piece of kitchen kit.
The new replacement seemed a little lighter although performs exactly as the original but they’ve reduced the thickness of the plastic all-around (maybe a good thing) yet the bottom metal cup-place doesn’t stay in place like the older version did. The result being that whenever we put a cup underneath the dispenser, we also have to reposition the drip tray too.
5 stars for the original yet 4 stars for the new one.

Excellent for arthritis sufferers!
I like the way the Breville is easy to use and set up, the adjustable amount makes sure you get the correct amount for the size of mug every time. The water temperature is set but it’s just right for tea and coffee, in fact a perfect cuppa every time. I would definitely recommend this excellent heater to any one with arthritic hands as there is no carrying a kettle with boiling water and no risk of spillage, one of my favourite kitchen appliances.
Great piece of kit. Beats a kettle.
I bought this for making cups of tea in my bedsit. It saves me having to go through to the shared kitchen to boil a kettle. It holds a good amount of water, for about 4 mugs in my case, which I fill from a jug rather than carry the rather large water compartment to the sink. It boils just the amount of water I need very quickly. The temperature is just as I like it. The only thing I don’t like is the chrome parts on the front and the drip tray. These are actually plastic and scratch very easily with use. Apart from that, nice piece of equipment. Glad I bought it.
What A Lovely Cuppa!
We needed a new kettle and despite being a bit sceptical about whether we’d see any difference, we decided we’d give this a go. Ok, so this is just a kettle with a filter inside it (depending on which version you buy) but there are definite benefits. The kettle takes just 45 seconds to boil a mug of water, but because the kettle dispenses the exact amount of boiled water that you’ve set you can just leave your mug with your tea bag or coffee on the tray, press the dispense button and walk away rather than having to stand, wait and then pour. Being a Brita machine the filter works well, making a nice cup of tea even in a hard water area and it’s a nice looking machine. I would definitely recommend this machine.
The bes
This was what I originally had in its smaller version and have tried another and although robustly made I found great fault (on a personal level )it didn’t measure the water I like to do other little jobs rather than just stand there waiting to fill up and twice the other one overflowed so for me this one is the totally perfect machine Would have gone for the stainless one but got enough filters for cooler to buy Unless of course you can operate without Highly recommended
Works perfectly
This does exactly what it’s meant to: boils one cup of water within 60 seconds. The reservoir is easy to fill and if it’s too cumbersome to fill from the tap you can use a jug. It’s not as quiet as some kettles but you wouldn’t expect it to be as the boiling water is coming out of the machine and its only going for less than a minute. I’m really happy with it and pleased I’m not wasting electricity by boiling more water than is needed.
Should have bought one years ago!
Very impressed with this device in that it will provide a mug or cup of hot water in a short space of time with adjustments for both sizes and a stop button in the event that the cup is full and you’ve still got it in the mug setting!! The water reservoir is a good size and is easily refilled and as you are only boiling what you need it’s more energy efficie
For the amazing staff Amazon employ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I had a bit of a problem with the first one I bought, I contacted Amazon to speak with an advisor. The man was so lovely understood straight away the problem and had it solved in minutes. The next day a brand new kettle arrived, tried it out and it’s working perfectly made myself a lovely cuppa . This is a fantastic kettle it’s an upgrade for my smaller Breville one-cup Now I don’t have to worry about switching the kettle on and forgetting about it, it stops when it’s filled the cup to your desired amount. I had the smaller Breville kettle for 9years before it started to play up last week, 9 year is really good for any small electrical item to last that long, so can’t complain and the reason I choose Breville again. I hope this one lasts as long or there abouts I was lost without my old one all week waiting to order this new one, they are the fantastic so quick no waiting for kettles to boil, you get is hot drink in an instant, I couldn’t do without it in my home. It’s worth every penny.
Thank You so very much Amazon for sorting this out yesterday, your advisor Ahmed was absolutely amazing, so very knowledgeable, polite and kind. One of the best advisor’s I’ve spoken to, and I’ve spoken with a good few. Also thank You so very much for emptying such amazing staff. They are a credit to you.
Very easy to use, better than a kettle
I was not sure about buying this as we are used to a kettle. Really pleased I did change. It’s super easy to use, gives you just the amount you need and I really can’t complain. You fill it up just like a kettle -though it gets heavy-and the water gauge is easy to see when it needs refilling. Looks good next to our coffee machine.
Not ideal if you need cooking water as have to press multiple times. Have used it to fill a teapot – difficult to position underneath but it was fine-mostly don’t use a teapot anyway.
I would recommend and I am sure it will be more economical than a kettle using only the water out need.

Perfect replacement kettle for an elderly perso
My 89 year-old mum has had the almost identical model (this lights up blue, her original lit up red) for the past three years or so. After this time the original quit working, she thought it was too soon and should have lasted longer. She lives in an area with very hard water, I’m not sure if that had any bearing on the issue. Anyway, I was pleased to find this on Amazon and at a cheaper price than paid three years ago. This model has variable dispensing so that you can adjust it to the exact amount for the size of mug. This appliance sits out on the countertop and is easy to fill with cold water from a jug. There is no picking up boiling kettles full of water, so it is safe for young and old alike. All round a brilliant invention.
An essential item for those with hand arthritis
My eldely mother was complaining that she struggled to lift the kettle due to her increasing deteriorating arthritis in hands, and in truth just getting older and weaker.
After looking around for an alternative I stumbled on this.
Its a god send, easy to use and no more lifting of kettles and boiling hot water. Problem solved.
I would get another one if and eventually when it stops working.
This isn't Whoopie Goldberg's copper kettle.
We’ve been using the larger of the original non-filtered models since 2012, it’s gave us good service but the spring on the lid failed about a year ago, and then one of the LEDs failed about a month ago, and what with the years of accrued scale that’s progressively harder to remove (and these devices aren’t the easiest thing to descale), so we decided it probably was due a replacement due to the hassle of prying the lid open.
The filtered edition. The good first. The dispensing section is unchanged, so it seems to boil at around the same speed (probably a little faster given lack of age and scaling etc, but likely not enough to be notice). Stop and Go buttons and cup size are also same. The overflow drain section snaps into place, unlike the other model which merely rests over a nub, so it’s now more secure and makes it easier to move the whole thing to clean around and under it. The filter adds an extra layer of filtering, and we’re trying a dual filter approach, applying already-filtered water, and offsetting the replacement of this one by two week, so at most the water filter is only two weeks old, so we are getting less scaley cups than we would the end of the regular single-filter month cycle. No doubt someone will say double-filtered gives you cancer or makes the Earth square, but we’ll take our chances.
The downside: filling the thing. In our opinion lid is pretty rubbish. The obsession Brita has with the stupid, useless LED meter is baffling. It’s just a dumb 28-day countdown timer, and given the battery in them only lasts a couple of years anyway, and the entire thing is a sealed and as with the jugs, an irreplacable system, they add no value, just e-waste, and get in the way.
Yet in order to accomodate it, absolutely unncessarily in a product whose lifespan should FAR exceed the life of the rubbish meter, Breville have been forced to make the fill opening far smaller. So it’s much harder to fill it than the other models. You can’t really get at it adequately from the side, so you have to over the top of the front control panel and be really methodical; there’s not really any margin of error in one’s accuracy in pouring.
It also seems to have compromised the build quality: I’m not expecting the spring on this one to last nigh-on ten years like our old one did.
Next revision, do away with that damn pointless meter and just make it a robust proper, full-sized lid that is easy to fill. This is, after all, a kettle, not a water jug. And remember, because of the filter taking up a large amount of volume, you need to fill it ~three times as often.
This is a good product, but the replacing our vintage model due to a fiddly broken lid for this one, ironically the filling the thing is only marginally less fiddly.
Double-filtering’s great, but it’s not Angela Lansbury’s copper kettle either.

Energy efficie
This is the third Breville Hot Water Dispenser we have had. We always use filtered water because we live in an area where the water comes from a bore hole and hence is very hard and tastes, also kettles do fur up very quickly and it is therefore a constant battle. The first dispenser the opening spring on the lid broke, and I could see no way to replace it. The second one was an out of box failure in as much that no matter how much I filtered the water or how many times I run water through boiling each mugful I could not get rid of the foul taste. the third one works fine after following the enclosed instruction for a new device. We continue to use the device many times a day, I believe thee expression is the pot never goes cold ……somewhat of an exaggeration ut you get the idea
Excellent produc
Don’t know how we lived without this item. We have used it now for 13 months with no problems at all. Some say they have a problem with the taste but from the start we have had no issues. Tea and coffee taste great. This item does what it says; dispenses one cupful of hot water for tea and coffee heating only the water required for that one cup. I use for gravy, jelly, oxos and sauces. It doesn’t boil like a kettle but tea bags, loose leaf tea, instant coffee and fresh ground coffee taste better with the one cup. I use a kettle for visitors if there are more than 2, other than that it’s the one cup. It’s filled 4 or 5 times a day and is the best thing ever bought. It does splash a bit with certain mugs and the chrome front needs wiping a couple of times a day. I would prefer that part to be black. As I have arthritis I sometimes fill with a jug but can manage to lift the breville to the tap on good days. Hope it lasts a few years but will definitely replace when needed.

Fantastic
I bought this for my 89 year old mum. She started to struggle lifting the normal kettle. It boils the water very quickly and the water is boiling….. Infact hotter than the normal kettle. I was so impressed with it I bought another one for myself. I would definetly recommend this product. It is ideal for people who find it difficult to lift a normal kettle. It can be left on stand and you can use a container to fill it, so other than cleaning you do not have to lift it once it is set up.
So far so good!
We’ve only had this a week, so may be a bit early to give a throrough review. However, I have been looking for one of these at a decent price for a while and this was the best price I had seen in a while. They aren’t cheap! We’ve had a breville one cup for 3 years and was really happy with it, but we have the worst hard water and it is really difficult to descale it. This seemed like a perfect idea, same convenience but with the built in filter.
So far so good. It seems to be doing the job well. Had a small issue this morning when the cartridge just wouldn’t filter, so had to take it out and give it a rinse off and put it back in. It all seems good again.
This model has the variable cup size which our old one didn’t. That is really helpful and it only took a few plays with it to work out what settings we needed it on for our different cup sizes.
I’ve really noticed the difference between this and our old one with my black coffee. It is hotter and so much clearer.
Obviously there will be an ongoing expense with the Brita cartridges , but I still think it is going to prove a good investment.

Some info.
We also have a different model. That one has one cup size setting. This new one is great in having several cup size settings. Really handy option for your different size cups or mugs. What I am not so keen on is that the remaining water left in the reservoir gets quite warm after each use. After a few cups over several hours this water is not exactly fresh and must be using more energy. This is not our experience with our other, one size, model where the water in the reservoir stays cool.
Great for a quick cuppa
This is probably my 4th Breville hot cup. Not because they keep breaking, but because my husband takes my old ones to work to use as he prefers these to the traditional kettle. I have looked at lots of kettles but keep going back to this model. It is easy to fill, pressing a button and the lid flipping up. it has a dial on the top to select the amount of water to dispense. I opt for a mug, which it fills adequately. It also has a button which immediately stops the water dispensing if needed. The water has no nasty taste, which is another reason I opt for this machine.
The only thing I would change about the Hot cup is that the dispensing nozzle doesn’t come off to clean and living in a hard water area it doe sometimes get limescale around the tip. other than that I can’t fault it.
I bought this as I have Parkinson's
I bought this product due to the fact that with my Parkinson’s I had enough of either scolding myself using a kettle or spilling it and or the drink I was making, by catching the mug with the kettle. This is perfect for my use as you place the mug on the drip tray and as you can alter the amount of boiling water to be dispensed you can set it as I do to only dispen 3/4 of a mug so no more spilling due to my tremors.
It is easy to set up and use and keep clean. Also has a handy stop function so if the mug is getting to full ypu can easily stop it.
As it only boils the amount of water you need for your coffee, it is efficient. We find it is fine for just the 2 of us as it makes 2 mugs of coffee a lot quicker than boiling a kettle. However we are keeping our kettle as once we are allowed visitors again the kettle will be probably quicker and easier as long as I am not pouring the kettle.
It is easy to fill using a plastic jug in to the large water tank at the rear, had a blue light on when making the drink and is easy to clean.
We use filtered water as we live in a hard water area to reduce the need for regular descaling as we did for the kettle previously.
Come on Breville start providing spare parts for your products.
Had four of these hot cups now, they are perfect for my wife who has rheumatoid arthritis in her hands and cannot use a normal kettle, unfortunately the have one major fault and that is the spring in the lid is not strong enough and eventually breaks, which means you cannot open the lid. It would be quite easy to change the spring but Breville cannot or will not sell this item as a spare part. Their solution is to offer a replacement kettle at a slightly reduced price. Good for business but not good for the customer. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a better appliance on the market, unless anyone knows differently. In the meantime we are of to buy kettle number five.
Awesome kettle
I had a previous version of this, which lasted 9 years. This one is fantastic. I love the variable dispense choices and the fact that I can stop the flow at any time. It heats the water fast and is hotter than my previous kettle. Having a 2 litre tank means I don’t have to fill as often. A bit more expensive than I hoped to pay, but worth every penny, especially if it lasts as long as the previous one.
Two Years In and Still Going Strong
Bought mine in Jan 2019 and have never had a problem.
It has a couple of things to be aware of;
Cooking, if you cook i.e. making gravy or filling a thermos flask, it’s too smal to get a jug of flask etc under so you have to boil several cups and pour them in, no a problem just a hassle.
Noise; it is not a quiet boil so if you fancy a cuppa in the early morning when the rest of the house is asleep, close the kitchen door!
Mug size; With the model we have (VKJ142) the amount of water dispenses is not variable, so a smaller mug can have little space for milk, a large mug will be 2/3rds full and there is no stop function so you get a cupful and then the other 2/3rd over the work top!
None of wich are a problem, but affect your decision to buy this model, but it boils water, quickly, to a good temperature, easy to fill and clean – recomended
Great one cup water kettle!
I’ve had the model below this before and it broke so I decided to get this one. With this hot cup I can choose the size of the cup I’m using, where with my old one I couldn’t. Love having this option. I will say the full kettle is rather heavy to lift and take to the sink to fill and I would definitely recommend using a plastic jug to fill it with water instead. The instructions tell you how many cups to throw away on your first use, I would definitely recommend doing at least four full jugs worth of water because there was a plastic taste at first. It’s absolutely fine now. I recently hurt my back and lifting a kettle to pour hot water would’ve been painful but this one cup machine was a saver! Definitely recommend it.
Wish I’d bought one earlie
I love it. I empty any residue and refill very morning and it holds enough for my teas and coffees throughout the day with just an added cup of water for bedtime drink. No constantly filling the kettle (always used to put too much in) and it heats much more quickly and fills the mug whilst I’m doing something else. The water doesn’t get to boiling so the cuppa will soon be ready to drink. Not sure that I woukd bother with it if making drinks for more than one person at a time, think the kettle would be handier, and the kettle still comes into use if I want a larger quantity of boiling water.
Bin the kettle, get one of these!
I have never drunk so many hot drinks ever! This fab machine has replaced our kettle and is so handy and quick to use for a cuppa anytime. Water tank easy to fill, take it to the tap or use a jug. Variable quantity from an expresso to large mug, turn the dial to adjust and done! plus a large stop button if you need! Great for singles or a couple but anymore peeps you will need the kettle otherwise it will take for-ages to do individual drinks LOL.
Make a cuppa in a minute!!
I had mine for 10 years! and bought another immediately! Ignore any negative reviews! millions are sold occasionally there’s a faulty one! and no different faults from a normal kettle! They may not be to everyone’s liking but for making a cuppa their brilliant! They are exactly like a kettle but because you place the cup or vessel under spout press the button 40 seconds that’s it! no watching required! It’s really about getting used to it!
Anyone for a super-quick, energy-efficient cuppa?
As I now live on my own, 99%of the time I am making a drink for one, and although I always used to boil the kettle with a small amount of water in it, I would always put more than a mugful in to prevent limestone dregs contaminating the drink being made. This is not a problem, however, with the water dispenser, which literally heats just the amount you require…and very quickly at that! Hopefully(!) this will be energy saving for me since I am not wasting heat on excess water, as with the kettle. I have, however, retained my kettle for large quantities of heated water – and filling my hot water bottle!
Good for people with sight problems or weak wrists
This is very good for people with sight problems although filling it up requires a plastic jug as it is quite heavy to lift when full. Very handy being able to select how much water you want dispensed as we all like different amounts of water in our drinks. Marked it as a 4 star as the buttons on the top seem quite flimsy so I am unsure how long they will last but if it gets to 12 months without breaking I would up it to 5 stars.
Safe and efficient solutio
Having being released from hospital with mobility constraints, I needed a safe option for brewing tea. This is excellent for anyone. It is so fast to boil the exact amount of boiling water required. It has features such as a dial to adjust volume, if you want a mug or cup amount, or anything in between. There is also a stop button, so you can stop the flow at any point.
I don’t see any point in going back to a conventional kettle, as this is much more convenient and efficient, making it cheaper to run.
excellant buy
I spent a lot of time wondering if to buy this, so glad I did. I have had no problems with aftertaste or temperature as mentioned in some reviews. I haven’t used the small cup, as i’m a tea drinker but the largest cup size fills my travel mug (its 300ml or just over half pint). I bought it as my other half drove me mad at 5 in the morning boiling the kettle (he didn’t understand just to fill to one cup). Now I don’t even hear it, as quieter than my kettle and I know hes only boiling a cup! We both have a cuppa in an evening, me tea, him coffee but it boils so quick that this is no problem, I just stop the water on his (he has more milk) rather than changing cup size.
What boiling water? and cup dispenser level are not consistent.
I have 2 main complaints about this hotcup hot water dispenser.
1) It gives the impression it dispenses boiling water. Not true. I measured the temperature as soon as the water was in the cup. It read 95 degrees centigrade and reduces rapidly. As a result my cup of tea now tastes differently.
2) Description says it dispenses regular cup quantities. Not true. The levels, if doing more than one cup after each other, gives different quantities so be careful. Can set to high water levels for the first cup and use the stop button when the required level is required.
If you can put up with these faults, which I, then it is a useful machine and will save you money as it only heats up the quantity needed, not the whole kettle.
Perfect if you have a disability
This is the best thing I’ve purchased, I have a disability and also I struggle to use my hands and wrist with this kettle all I have to do is press one button and it measures out the Water I require and that’s it that’s my drink done. You can make it a small to large drink on the dial at the top of the kettle. With my disability I am no longer having to lift the kettle to fill it up or tipped the kettle to make a drink. A MUSY BUY
LOVE IT!!!
Yes I am a man and you put the cup under the spout, push the button and that’s it in moments a cup of tea. What’s not too like no fuss no waste. You can adjust the size of cup and then there’s an emergency stop button in case you get it wrong. So simple anyone can use it [even a man]
Buy one you will not be disappointed.
Brilliant!
Took delivery today. My wife had major surgery a week ago and cannot life a full kettle for 6-8 weeks (I’m happy to do so but she’s very independent and I love her can do spirit).
Followed instructions and now we enjoy cups of tea made by both of us 🙂
My *only* hesitancy is sometimes it “spurts” out while dispensing the boiling water, I’m putting it down to teething problems as it’s new. But we are both delighted with it so far.
Fantastic water dispenser.
Absolutely fantastic. Brought to replace an old one that I had purchased secondhand that eventually stopped working. So good to be able to make a hot drink when you haven’t the strength or mobility to use a kettle. The water stop feature is fantastic – especially if u have forgotten to set the amount of water dispensed to your cup size. So good that everyone else uses it rather than the kettle. Love the removable drip tray as it then can be used for filing pans whilst cooking as well as cups. Looks smart too. Definitely worth the money especially for those with grip, strength and dexterity issues. Much safer than a kettle.
Easy to use but not so easy to fill.
Purchased this to replace onecup that has served me well for 7+ years.
Being disabled I find pouring kettles difficult and dangerous, but with these dispensers it’s easy and much safer.
The Breville Brita hotcup is larger than I expected, looks smart, and does the job well. You can easily adjust the volume of water dispensed to suit the size of your cups. It has a built in water filter, which can be removed if you prefer, so I no longer need to faff with separate filter jug. The on button is large and easy to press, and unit lights up so you can easily see it is operating. There is also a larger cancel button.
The only niggle is the lid, this is why I gave 4 stars rather than 5. There is a button that flips up a portion of the lid to enable filling, but the flap limits access and the opening is quite small (I use a jug to fill as unit too heavy for me to carry), while you can remove the whole lid (which would make filling easier) it is difficult to grip it, it would definitely benefit from a handle!

Opening
I love this product, it’s my second one, heats a cup/ mug of water for tea /coffee fast, brilliant for when you need hot water for veggies, saves waiting for water to boil in a saucepan. You can start it, complete a task then chill with a freshly made coffee Just be sure to let everyone know where the switch to open the lid ready for topping up water is, my first one had lid forced open because I hadn’t shown everybody how to open the lid. Best one I’ve ever used. Particularly good if like me lifting a kettle is difficult due to having rheumatoid arthritis, five stars I highly recommend it.
Don’t overfill it will eject into the drip tray and overflow!
This little machine should be in everyone’s household. It’s just the right size slightly bigger than a standard kettles’ base. Only heats whatever cup size you select so it’s energy efficient and the water is boiling when it’s ejected. It can be replenished by filling it from the top rear of the water receptacle or by lifting it “kettle” like to the water tap… we find it easier to fill it up by using a jug, as we are well into our sixties !
My main concern that hadn’t been mentioned in any reviews was whether it would fill my travel mug and if the mug would fit. Hurrah! It does! I choose to use my unit without the drip tray (the unit doesn’t drip and I think it looks better this way, plus it takes up less space).
So my travel mug fits and it fills it to the level I would normally fill it.
My second concern was that the water might not be quite boiling and you would get that white film very common with coffee machines dispensing ‘hot water’. Well I’m happy to say that doesn’t happen with this unit. It is the perfect temperature for tea.
The reason I switched from kettles was because I found the second cup after filling the kettle tasted slightly stewed – reminiscent of the old tea urn. This unit tastes fresh every time (I use a filter jug to fill it) and my tea is delicious.
I am so, so happy with this unit. Have recommended it to anyone who would listen!
Filling settings as follows:
lowest setting = 150ml, espresso mug
middle setting = 250ml, standard tea mug
highest setting = 350ml, travel mug

Great Energy Saver. 💐😊
This is a great kettle, great value for money, easy to use it also looks nice too.
I do have Rheinards in my hands so lifting a full kettle can be very difficult for me, using this water heater is great. I do not have to lift it, just place cup under and it fills the cup. No lifting, no wasted energy boiling a full kettle, it just boils one cup at a time, fast, efficient and it saves energy and money. This is my 3rd Breville, I knocked the others over, they always work well.
Great ki
This is an awesome bit of kit especially for single menopausal tea addicts! There’s not much to get excited about when you are a tee total non smoking 50 year old woman who’s only company is a deaf white toothless cat! But there’s tea! And this bit of gadgetry beats the life long time wasting of boiling a kettle! Simple as it’s put a smile on my hot flushed middle aged face! And the spare time not used waiting for the kettle to boil can now be better utilised contemplating the different benefits of HRT!
Excellent Produc
I bought this product for my 91 year old mum who suffers with macular degeneration. She is now nearly blind. I wanted something that would help her make a cup of tea without spilling hot water everywhere. This has been the best product I bought. It boils only the water you need for a cup/mug and then pours it into the cup which saves electricity. It operates with only a press of one button which was ideal for my mum. It also looks really nice on the worktop. You can change the size of cup/mug too and if the hot water does pour out inadvertently there is a stop button on the machine. It is also easy to add water by using a jug if you find it’s heavy for you to carry to the sink. My mum loves it and in turn I love it too because now I know my mum is a lot safer. Excellent product, would highly recommend it.
Love i
I had the model before this one and i was more than happy with it even though you couldn’t alter cup/mug size.. however this one is absolutely brilliant it has a cup and mug setting and every size in between! Not all our mugs hold the same amount. This water dispenser/kettle has a big water tank so is great for filling jugs etc when cooking or when you have guests round. We are a couple, however we do drink many teas and coffees etc. The machine is sleek, looks good is quick and quiet and still only takes up the same space as my old one did.
28 seconds then coffee!
Loving this! Though the filters for this are the Maxtra+ so I’m glad I didn’t order additional filters at the same time.
Firstly, huge water tank. So much so that I started to worry the first time that I filled it as it took a lot of water before it showed above the heater compartment, I actually started to wonder if I should have read the instructions first.
So, as it is a filter kettle- sorry, hot water dispenser- it does take a while for the water to filter through and reach the huge reserve tank.
As the cup sizes are dots rather than volume, some trial and error with different mugs is to be expected in the beginning.
Obviously, I timed how long it took to boil a cup of water on the second largest cup setting, 28 seconds from pressing the button to cup of coffee. Very much a welcome thing first thing in the morning. Just remember to top up the tank the night before. Or it’s a lot longer.
Emptying the tank is a bit of a bum ache as you are not able to empty cold water, the only way is to make up to 8 cups of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
Oh, and making instant gravy or pre boiling water for the spuds became a lot trickier since banishing my old, standard kettle.
Fast coffee at 6am makes up for that, though.
Great for when the carpal tunnel is being uncooperative as no lifting. I imagine descaling will be an issue….

Made my grandmas life a whole lot easier!
Brought this for my disabled grandma who cannot lift her old kettle. It was the best purchase ever made. It was a little awkward at first to work out which number to have it on to produced the right amount of water but this was quickly sorted. She has a standard sized mug and can make 8-9 drinks before having to refill it.
It boils really fast and is extremely hot, which she loves.
Good quality for money, I know another disabled lady that owns one and wont have another kettle, shes had it over 7 years now and perfectly working still.
good & bad
Hi decided to write a review, as I always read reviews before I buy, the breville one cups looks stylish in my kitchen, it is quite large, has a sturdy large drip tray, it lights up blue when switched on, it takes approx 40 seconds to fill a mug, the water tank holds approx 7 mugs of water, water comes out hot (but not too hot) the only downside is it quite heavy when you need to refill, so i use a plastic jug to refill, it is very heavy to lift off & take to the tap, not user freindly for elderly customer, but I do feel it is very safe to use as you just put your cup under press the button so no lifting heavy kettles with hot water, my last breville lasted 15 years, and gave up last week, so brought the new breville 5 days ago, my hold one I was forever filling up as it did,t hold much water, so i like the 2 ltr tank capacity and the dial on the top for different size cups (which I need to get use to cup sizes as my cups are all differnt sizes) there is a stop button easily located on the front, but not used yet, hope this helps one last thing the price is quite expensive at 51.99 but couldn,t find any cheaper, hopefully lasts as long (15 years)
Great kettle
This is my second one of these kettles. I love them! Couldn’t be without one. My last ones light stopped working then the measuring went awry BUT the latter was down to the fact that I didn’t bother to descale it at all – this one I will make sure I do! The only downside to these is if you need a whole kettle of boiling water, but I keep an old kettle in the cupboard for that. These are great as they have the option to variate the output of water unlike other models/brands.
Does a good job. Well- designed.
I’ve had this since January 2020. It’s now May 2020. By now, it’s made 100s of cups of tea and coffee- so time for a review. Easy to use: takes a few goes to get the right dispensing amount of water. It doesn’t matter if you judge it wrongly as you can always press ‘stop’ – which stops the water immediately. Boils quickly…we make lots of tea and coffee at my place, so I imagine, we have saved a bit in electric costs. I bought it after my wife had an arm operation, I didn’t want her lifting a heavy kettle up. This was a perfect solution. Unless, you make tea or coffee in a giant bowl- there’s no worries here about how much water it dispenses. None at all. Nice blue light. Four stars because I’d say the water is a couple of degrees colder than from a kettle. My wife wouldn’t have it if her tea wasn’t hot and she has no complaints. Good product, sturdy, does a nice job and provides a good solution.
Safer, faster, easier and more economical than a kettle
I live on my own and find it difficult to boil enough water for just one cup in a kettle. I was therefore looking for an easier and more economical solution.
It has a dial on the top to select how much water to dispense. All of my mugs are the same size, so it’s great being able to select the perfect size and leave it. The tank holds 2 litres, which is enough for about 8 standard mugs.
It takes about 35 seconds from pushing the button to the water being dispensed. I pop a teabag in a cup, press the button, walk away for a few minutes and come back to perfectly brewed tea!
I highly recommend this hot water dispenser if you’re looking for a safer, faster, easier and more economical alternative to a standard kettle.
Amazing! Buy it!!!
Incredible! Had one many years ago when they first came out but the amount of water dispensed was fixed and was a pain if using different cup sizes! They’ve solved that now with the amount of water boiled being adjustable to cater for all cup sizes and theres a stop switch which is instantaneous if you select the wrong amount for the cup, press it and it stops immediately!
Large tank capacity, boils a cup within a minute and is more Energy efficient than boiling a kettle even if making a couple of cups, and ideal for older people as they’re not handling a boiling kettle full of water! Bought one for my parents and they’re equally impressed! Highly recommended, don’t hesitate to buy
Doesn't quite replace the kettle
After having used instant hot water taps at work for making quick teas and coffees on the go I was excited to replace my old kettle with this hot water dispenser but sadly my excitement soon turned to disappointment. The first thing we noticed is that it takes ages to fill as there is only a small amount of space between the Brita filter to the top of the kettle such that you have to put a small amount of water in, wait for it to trickle down to the main tank and repeat 4 or 5 times until the tank is full. The only way it’s usable is to remove the brita filter so that the water goes straight into the tank. The next issue is how long it takes to boil the water, which is almost a minute. Not too much of a problem if making a drink for one person but not great if you have guests and need 4 or 5 cups and unlike a kettle you can’t just go away and come back. Lastly it’s no good for rinsing rice or filling pans with hot water. If you want instant hot water for the kitchen it’s better to get the tap systems which are directly connected to the mains water and can provide an endless supply of boiling hot water within a few seconds.
Update. Having used the HotCup for a few weeks I’ve added a couple more stars. We just keep a jug of water next to it for topping up and have kept our old kettle in a cupboard for the odd things it can’t handle such as straining rice etc. Overall I’m glad we persevered with it.

It does what it said in the advert.
It works fine, the only problem I have is the start button, soft rubbery material jumped out and I can get it to stay back in, its a design fault two small lugs clip into two slot in the main button, however the part that came out is now buckled and wont stay in, so I will just have to glue it in and see what happens. Its a big lump of a machine, did not expect a problem coming from this manufacturer. If you are used to making tea with a tea pot, and think you can fill it up with this machine forget it, it has various cup sizes and the largest only fills my big mug.
Makes a cup of tea quickly
I loved the idea of making a cup of tea quickly so bought this. It does just that, it’s quick and ideal if you are making one cup, so great when I’m working at home. Downsides: it spits a bit so I would not recommend young children using it, I’m even nervous about my 12 year old using it as she is clumsy. The other disadvantage is when you need more than one cup of boiling water for example when making a jug of gravy (didn’t think about that when I bought it). Also you can’t have half a cup, I like instant porridge and a whole cup of boiling water is too much, it’s no big deal you can pour into the cup then pour from cup into pot but you get the idea! You get one cup, same amount of water every time (Sorry if that seems obvious, but I didn’t think about it). Do like it though and would recommend.

Great machine!
I previously had the smaller 1.5 litre version for quite a while but due to how much we used it was basically wearing out and getting slower so I decided a new one was needed and bought this the bigger capacity model, so far really pleased with it as the water is definitely hot and it is quite accurate at the amount it dispenses with the setting working well, fairly easy to clean and easy to maintain, one tip is to use a jug to top it up as it is quite heavy to hold under a tap when it’s getting filled up (not really a criticism but rather an opinion!) I think these are so much easier to use than a kettle and I would recommend this for anyone who has a weak grip such as the elderly or infirm, great machine and would definitely recommend it!

This boiler is fabulous. Before buying I read some disappointing reviews but I haven’t experienced any problems. It’s heavier than a kettle to fill but which is a downside for people with lifting problems but it’s perfectly manageable for my partner and I.
Fill it up, select your cup size. Press the button. Hey presto hot water.
We have if on a worktop with a shelf directly above. Feared a kettle would steam too much and damage the shelf we chose this. Does a full size cup at a time. Minimal steam and should be more economical as not boiling more water than you need. Looks good too.
Mam & Dad love i
Bought it as a present when the previous smaller one broke… only through heavy use, they drink a lot of tea and cook a lot so the smaller one really worked hard, when it broke they reverted back to a standard kettle and it was then they realised and remembered how long it took to make a cuppa again.
After a few months of annoying kettle waiting I got fed up and bought this one for them for Christmas 2018 and they like it even more as this one has a stop button and a bigger tank to hold the water. The last one lasted about five years and saved loads on the electric bill as they weren’t boiling whole kettles of water. Descaling is a bit of a faff but should be done anyway. I hope this one lasts the same amount of time or longer, I think Breville don’t advertise this product enough.

As Fiction Factory once said: “feels like heaven...”
How do I say: well pleased with my purchase?
I bought it to replace an original HotCup that was giving up the ghost after 5+ years of 10+ daily use.
It has the features I would have put on a list to Santa Breville, and uses them well. Variable metered dose, and free flow (to a degree) using the ability to stop the dose. This feature works with no lag, so is as accurate as you need it to be.
The larger tank and generous water entry point make it much more user friendly.
The only thing missing is the ability to connect directly to a mains water supply via a filter.
Hot water dispenser with automatic cut off.
I purchased this hot water dispenser because it could dispense mugs/cups of liquid and switch off automatically. I previously used a dispenser which required manual switch off, but even though I was determined to watch the dispenser as it filled up something would occur which would distract me and I ended up with spillage on the kitchen worktops. The Breville dispenser allows you to choose the amount of water you require, I have mine set for half pint which is the ideal quantity for the average size mug.
Does what it says whilst looking pretty
Nice looking item. Replacement for previous one cup kettle which had seen better days mainly due to being in a hard water area. Bigger water reservoir and adjustable amount are good enhancements and the reasons i upgraded this time.
Middle setting is about the same as the previous model dispensed. Nudging it up or down makes perhaps an extra cm or 2 difference so handy for a bigger cup or perhaps when you need a bit less to make gravy etc.
Largest serving is just over about 300ml.
Wouldn’t go back to a regular kettle now these are just so much easier. If I need a hot water bottle i just fill up a pouring jug twice. Easy to refill using my filtered water jug.
A sleek addition to my kitchen.
