Canny Collar – The Collar For Dog Training And Walking, Simple And Effective Help With Dog Training And Helps To Stop Dogs From Pulling On The Lead, Head Collar For Dog Walking – Black (Size 4)

canny company, stop dog pulling, buy canny collar, how to train dogs, best dog training collar

The Canny Collar is the dog training head collar to stop dogs pulling on the lead, transforming even the worst pullers into happy, well-behaved pets.

Simple to fit and easy to use, it is kind to your dog, comfortable, safe and effective. We offer the Canny Collar in a range of colours and sizes, including Blue, Black, Red and Purple.

The ‘behind-the-head’ design means it doesn’t yank your dog’s head nor ride up into the eyes and can be used in both ‘training mode’ and ‘regular mode’ by slipping the loop off your dog’s nose as needed. This way, you can train your dog to eventually walk on a regular collar and lead.

The Canny Collar is used by dog trainers, training schools, rescue shelters and veterinarians worldwide. The Canny Collar is also used by UK Guide Dogs.

If you are embarrassed by your pulling dog, dread taking him or her for a walk and have tried everything else to stop your dog pulling and nothing has worked, then the Canny Collar is the solution for you.

For larger dogs, the Canny Colossus is the same design as the Canny head collar but with larger, more heavy-duty fittings and specifically for larger breeds of dog.

Canny products are developed by dog behavioural trainers and used by trainers, vets and rescue shelters to help make dog walking more enjoyable.

If you’re tired of your dog taking you for a walk or embarrassed by your pulling dog, the Canny Collar will make walking your dog a pleasure again.

How does the Canny Collar work?

The Canny Collar works by using a ‘pressure and release’ system. Put simply, when your dog pulls he will feel pressure on the bridge of his nose and when he doesn’t pull, there is no pressure.

By keeping your arm by your side and allowing the Canny Collar to do any corrective work, you can then give your dog positive praise when he is walking calmly by your side, thereby encouraging walking on a loose lead. Your dog will soon learn that by walking calmly by your side and not pulling ahead, the walk will be more comfortable for both of you.

Why is the Canny Collar different from other head collars?

Firstly, the Canny Collar fastens behind the head rather than under the chin. The immediate benefit of this is that there is no yanking your dog’s head to one side or riding up into his eyes. When you are positioned below an animal (such as a horse) it would make sense to lead it from under the chin. However, the horse rider will control the horse from behind the head which makes more sense if you are above the animal. This is why the Canny Collar is unique amongst dog training head collars.

Secondly, the Canny Collar is a dog training collar rather than a dog restraining collar. It can be quickly and easily switched into a regular dog collar and lead by alternately flicking the slip line on and off your dog’s nose. By doing this you can use the Canny Collar like a ‘dog training lead’ eventually training your dog to walk on a conventional flat collar.

What are the benefits of the Canny Collar?

As the Canny Collar clips to your dog’s lead behind the head rather than under the chin, this means it will not ride up into your dog’s eyes nor yank his head to one side. It is generously padded for comfort and the single piece of material over your dog’s nose allows him to breathe freely, open his mouth and enjoy his walk as much as you both want him to. Used by organisations such as The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, the Canny Collar is everything you are looking for when wishing to humanely train your dog to walk on a loose lead.

If you’re looking for an easy solution to your pulling dog problems, look no further than the Canny Collar. You’ll be in good company. Since it was launched, more than half a million dog owners worldwide have discovered the simple pleasure of walking their dogs on a loose lead. Join them today and make walking your dog easy!

This collar is a real game changer for me. My 3 year old Labrador pulls like a train and has made lead walks very challenging. I went for Size 5 and it’s a good fit and looks sturdy. It takes the pull out of him immediately and unlike standard figure of 8 leads, it doesn’t tighten around the neck. I use it with a two handled lead and I feel so much more in control!! Amazing!

    Game Changer!

We were despairing with our cocker spaniel, we tried all the tricks to get her to walk nice and she wouldn’t. The pulling was awful and I was worried she would hurt herself. She did not like the collar at first , but she soon got used to it and omg it was magic, amazing device. I can’t say how much I love this collar.

Does help with reactivity.Nose band tends to get twisted. I found it easier to put the collar on each time making sure the nose band does not twist. He still tries to get it off.

Have a rescue dog who is a solid 20kg of muscle. Was doing no favours to my arms, back or knees. Tried a Halti but she would scrape herself along walls to try and get it off. This has been revolutionary. She is not a big fan but much better than with the Halti. I could walk her with one finger on the lead now which is something I never thought I would see and also can now countenance a child walking her (with supervision) at some point.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m disabled and use an electric wheelchair i have a Belgium Sheppard and she wears a harness as trained to walk with the chair but on occasions will have a pull if a squirrel goes past and can pull hard I have added this to the walk and it’s amazing I have used them in the past with great success with my jack Russell and it worked on him brilliantly. It’s not hard to fit on the dog and is secure in place if she wants to pull it over her nose she can but that’s when we have stopped talking on our walks but once rolling again I have total control of her head and it’s easy to just slip it back over her nose my dog is trained to walk with the wheelchair she still has her harness on so when she is on her extension lead I just clip the canny collar around her neck and she is free to have a mooch around then it’s back on her walking lead next to the wheelchair with her canny collar on its given me a lot more confidence and control and it’s a gentle way of working your dog very happy and totally recommend it. I have tried the Julius K9 harness the stop pull halti harness but none have work for that extra control and the halti head collar can cause neck injury as it pulls your dog’s head to the side all the time but this head collar just pulls her nose down to her chest to deter her from pulling keeping her head and neck in line so no chance of injury to you dog a vet recommend them to me years ago my jack Russell is 18 years old and it helped him as a pup to stop pulling as he is a typical jack Russ a bit stubborn to train but it worked he walks great now and so does my Belgium Sheppard especially when squirrels are around it.

The canny collar has literally changed my life! Sounds over the top but I came to a point where walking the dog was pretty stressful, my 8 month old lab would pull to the point of almost dislocating my shoulder, this collar has reduced his pulling ability massively and I couldn’t recommend it enough. Took him a few days to get used to it, (expect your dog to have a go at getting it off, its just a case of your dog getting used to it.) Now we both enjoy going for a walk, the difference is fantastic, now I can train him to walk to heel much easier. Highly recommend! (I bought size 4).

Love it. No where near as harsh as other makes that I can’t name, but it does the job perfectly, as good as the others but better, because you have peace of mind that pups can’t wriggle out of them.

I bought this collar for my labradoodle 8 mth old puppy. He’s enormous- not quite the size of a standard poodle but not far off and my morning walks with him were hazardous to say the least.! Now, with this collar, my arms are back in their sockets and I can walk painlessly with him by my side, without the frantic pulling I used to get with a double lead!! Now the walks brilliant aand I can hold the lead with 1 finger. Even when we meet other dogs ( always used to be a stressful time!) But not now.
I’m really pleased with this canny collar.

I’ve been struggling to find the right collar etc for our strong 18mth old puppy and was thankfully introduced to the canny collar by a friend. Whilst out pup resisted initially, it wasn’t long before she was walking better and pulling less.

It’s so nice to finally feel in control and gain some confidence and be able to train her (and me of course). I used to dread walking her and now look forward to it.

It’s a bit fiddly to let her off lead and pop her back on…but still worth it….and she wears a regular collar so I can grab her quick and hold her if I need to.

It seems to be made well. She tried to bite through it once, so I’ve learnt to get myself ready, then put the collar and leave straight away so she can’t get to it.

    Thumbs up from me.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhen I originally received this item I was happy with how it worked, not the simplest of head harnesses to fit but once used to it it’s fine. Worked by preventing excitable golden retriever pulling but she was never happy to wear it, the yellow buckle underneath seemed to dig in her neck/throat. Persevered as she is head strong and stubborn but she was still gasping and chocking even after reading the correct way to use as there is a knack to it. I ordered due to the fact you could leave on whilst off lead by crossing the straps and securing with 2 clips supplied. The clips were a little flimsy and very fiddly to secure with an excited dog about to be let off lead so wasn’t really suitable for her, other dogs may accept it more and it does work with pulling so worth a try just not suitable for her even with perseverance.

This beats the Hilti I tried first, and the dog don’t run a mile and hide up when I pick it up, like some other harness I’ve tried… this Canny collar works well.

Does exactly what it is intended for – stop a dog pulling. When your dog drops it’s head you know it is going to try and scratch it off so get the head up. After 1 use a massive difference.

The Canny collar worked on our Springer Spaniel like magic, we were confident it would work but were blown away by how well the Canny collar did it’s job.
We already learnt how to put the collar on, so when the collar arrived it only took seconds to put it on our dog, so simple to use if you already know how to use it, thanks to YouTube.
We walked our Springer Spaniel indoors with the collar on, during that time she did put her paw up at the strap several times, we carried on walking giving her treats for about five minutes, followed by going out to the garden for another five minutes with a few more treats.
Later on we took her out for a street walk and again she did put her paw up at the strap but only a few times, apart from that she walked extremely well. Next day in the morning we went back out for a dog walk, but this time passing people, there was no lunging at all, she walked perfectly past people and there was no pulling during heel.
But please note: Most Springers love and require off lead exercise, belting around fields, they love it…

The Canny Collar comes with easy to understand instructions. One of our dogs was always pulling and very reactive to anything that moved, cats, dogs, foxes, butterflies! We were working on her training but anything else we tried (different harnesses, collars, martingales etc) just didn’t work and it got to the point that walks had become a chore rather than a pleasure. From the very first moment of putting this canny collar on her she was stopped in her tracks. It doesn’t yank her head around but she is aware that it’s there. She has never pulled since wearing it. If she does try to charge ahead she just can’t. We are using it as a training aid and now whenever she feels that slight pressure she lifts her head and makes eye contact with me. It has also now got to the point where I can take both of my 37kg dogs on a safe walk by myself without dragging hubby along and I feel totally in control of them. I would go so far as to say this has been a total life changer for us.

This has worked wonders for our year old Labrador. She was constantly pulling on the lead and causing my fingers to swell from holding the lead so tightly.

Walking the dog is much more fun. The collar design is great. After walking to a park you can remove the nose/mouth restraint and have the dog wear the collar whilst off lead.
The dog can still yawn, drink and breathe well whilst wearing the nose/mouth restraint.

So easy to use and it’s great quality. The item does come with visual instructions to help with fitting. So wish we had thought of this idea much sooner.
I bought a size 4 for a small Labrador and its a perfect fit.
    True to size.

Having used the gentle leader for many months, I was worried about the damage I might cause to my German Shepherds neck and spine when she tried to chase a cat with me restraining her. Having read reviews on the gentle leader, one review said the canny collar worked differently. I resourced it and purchased it.
I have to say I have used it 4 times and its a pleasure to walk with.
My dog enjoys her walk and I do, feeling happier that I have control without hurting her.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWe used it on our lab. She is a strong and a puller. Initially, we struggled to use this, because she just wouldn’t let us put this on her. The next challenge was that she would try her best to take the piece that goes on top her snout off with both her her paws, rolling on the ground, rubbing her snout/nose ferociously on the ground, among other things. She scratched the tip of her nose repeatedly trying to get it off. After a while (took many days) she got used to it. She now walks well with it even though occasionally she tried it take it off of her snout. As dog owners, you would also need to get used to walking with your dog using this collar. If you don’t keep the lead up, your dog could try and take it off her snout. If you pull it up too hard, it would be discomforting. But you will eventually learn it! So yes, once you and your dog get used to it, it would reduce the pull of your dog.

This has helped calm our boxer dog down during walks and allows us to have full control when he has lots of energy. We have tried lots of different types from halti to harnesses but this is the only collar that has worked so far. We will now only use this collar in the future and I wish we had found it earlier. Good quality sturdy material and worth the price.

Nothing wrong with it – fits OK but my dog hates it. However she is reactive with other dogs and needs a head collar so I can control her and not be pulled over (I have 2 large dogs!) so it serves its purpose and she will need to get used to it.

Our dog has always pulled and whilst this is not a magic instant solution it is certainly a lot easier than before!

She didn’t like it st first and kept trying to remove it with her paws but got used to it after about 5 walks with it.

Make sure you use it for training a dog to walk beside you rather than letting them wander about all over the place. Also note that the plastic buckle goes under the chin, not on the nose!

My cousin advised me to buy this as we both have strong dogs that pull, this has completely changed our walks now, im so happy! No more looking like my dog is walking me and no more arm and hand pain! The mouth piece did slip off a couple of times but then I just slip it right back on and go on with our walk. He did try to paw it off for the 1st min or 2 but seemed just fine for the rest of our journey. I’m so happy I can now happily extend the length of our walks and its no longer a chore but a joy!!!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is very good and had the desired effect immediately and stopped the pulling completely. However, if you have a dog that struggles alot, you might struggle to keep it on. If there is any slack to the lead, or if the dog backs up and spins, it can drop from their muzzle quite easily. I have learnt to make my dog sit for a treat when I know she’s going to try and get it off but others might have difficulty if they’ve got a real struggler who is going to stop at nothing to get it off! I bought this as I could not seem to find anything that had consistent results. Other training leads/collars/harnesses I’ve tried had the desired results for a only a few minutes before being back at square one, so I’d still have an aching arm at the end of the walk. I have a German shepherd and size 4 worked well.

I’ve tried many different ways to stop pulling over the years & I have to say that this was far & away the best solution I’ve used.

Unlike similar collars that pull the head to one side due to the way it connects, this one helps you remain in control at all times.

Quality of product is exceptional in terms of stitching & materials.

After a week of using on one dog, I purchased a second collar for my other dog with similar impressive results.

Best buy ever! A joy to walk my collie now. No more lunging at cars at the risk of taking my shoulder with him. Wasn’t at all sure if he’d accept the collar as he was 4 years old, but it wasn’t a problem at all, a little distracting was all that was needed.
Also have one for my huntaway. He’s a big strong lad, and the collar gives me so much control, I couldn’t stop him otherwise. He is much more prone to trying to get it off his nose, but he’s only 9 months so I’m sure he’ll settle with it.

I was doubtful if this collar would stop our lovely golden retriever from pulling. She was not raised on a lead and is a strong girl.
Until we bought this collar walking on a lead was a trial for us and our dog. The collar works really well and even a child was able to walk her with it. She does get a little irritated with the strap on her nose and tries to paw it off. But with encouragement and practice small sure she will get used to it.

Golden Review Award: 89 From Our UsersHad enough of dog taking us for a walk. We tried various training techniques and got pro advice but dog is smart and wasn’t going to be manipulated at walkies time. We tried various similar face harness and lead systems, some similar ideas e.g. Halti without good or lasting success. Only thing any of them did was burn a hole in our pockets. The halti worked for a little while but canny dog worked out how to dupe us and scrape it off his face along the floor/wall/bench whenever we dropped our guard (and lead). Was really embarrassing having a dog looking as if it was having a fit scraping around on the floor whilst we tried to regain control. It was also really embarrassing having dog collapse in a big unnatural heap in public areas and refuse to move.
This one though, he ain’t getting quite so much success with! But we are, it’s so good to be back in control. Thanks to the random dog walker we passed pleasantries with, for recommending this product to us.
It feels good not having to do our walks at 15mph with our arms stretched better than a mediaeval torture device and our shoulders permanently semi dislocated. And dog doesn’t get to hit the ground, we have full control.
Dog loses. Sorry dog. Well, no, not really sorry. More like smug.

What do I say? I have a dog who is desperate to get out & about first thing in the morning & although this product does keep that slightly in check when she wants to leap she leaps & nothing seems to stop her. After we’ve got over the early ‘leap/jump/all over the place’ she is a lot better & seems to accept the collar is there & it isn’t coming off until we get to free walking space but there is quite a lot of ‘trying it on’. So it’s not perfect by any means but………it is easy to fit. My dog does accept it quite happily (mostly) & it does make me feel I am (mostly) in control of a very young, VERY bouncy EXUBERANT & BOUNCY furry friend. So yes……..I like it because it is easy to put on. My dog does accept it & fairly happily but I & I’d like to emphasise the I haven’t got her lead walking very good even though she’s my 7th dog & I do feel it has to me getting something very wrong?

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI have a springer spaniel. he is a working dog at heart, is crazy most of the time where prolonged obedience depends on the volume of the commands and the excitement contained within, he pulls like an Ox/bulldozer, with the additional cross running switch back from left to right and vice versus at any given moment and for no apparent reason (most of the time).

The lead itself is comfortable and soft to hold, withstands weather and in theory is easy to clean, wrap it in a tea towel and shove it in the washing machine on low temperature and as good as new (hot temperature will make it shrink).

My dog tries to take off the nose section slyly, you have to understand, this lead requires a small amount of tension on the lead for the nose section to not simply fall off. I noticed that on the first outing and notice others complaining about the fact.

Also actually measure your pets neck, if you get one that is too big, it will fall off all the time so check the sizes, you wouldn’t wear a size 12 if you were a size 7, unless you were a clown.

Adjustable ring settings would be nice as a feature, or just more of them for more useful options, but generally they are sturdy, and useful enough to recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis collar has been recommended by one of the same giant schnauzer breed owner who has a rehomed more then year old dog. I was lucky to got offered to try on my bitch and size 5 fits perfectly and she is not pulling anymore. Would recommend it to anyone who has been buying these kind of accessories but did not work great. This one fits perfectly and won’t hurt her like the others did. *****

I have used these as a professional dog walker.. best tool ive ever used to keep a dog under control.. if your dog pulls get one of these.. my own bug bear is the developer could find a way to stop the dog pulling it off when you let them loose.. it then hangs down and could get caught up.. velcro on back straps is all it would take..

Our german boxer is 12months old and he is taking his time with lead training. He isn’t awful but when he sees kids, dogs or motorbikes he wants to be with them asap. We have bought lots of different collars to help with his pulling but this one seems to be the only one that helps. It reduces the power of his pull so that you can manage him , now if he doesn’t have it on he can and usually does go back to how he was before but the canny collar is allowing us to heal train him without pulling our arms out of our sockets.
Best buy yet and he can’t chew it which was the problem with another make.

Dog hates this and on grass tries his best to push off, but on concrete paths he walks amazingly.
The difference is amazing. I take it off and he jumps pulls.
We walk a lot on paths, so I’m hoping he’ll forget about it, when grass comes!

I 'ummed and arred' about buying this product for months as I thought it would just be another product that didn't work. How wrong I was – I only wish I had bought it sooner. It's actually a pleasure now to walk my dog on the lead, where as previously I had dreaded on lead walkers! I have total control now and don't fear being dragged down the road when my dog sees something that catches her attention! I take her for the walk now, rather than her taking me! It's now enjoyable and not exhausting!

My little Scottie is so well behaved when wearing the collar….no lunging at cats, squirrels and some other dogs….he walks well on his normal collar but this is great when I know there will be lots of dogs and other furries around…..it also takes the strain out of my back as a sudden lunge can cause problems..I had no problems when I first tried it on him,as a treat to reward him worked well ..as its not really tight on his nose I don’t think he can feel it with his Scottie beardexcept when he lunges…would recommend.

I have a Rottweiler who pulls like a train and everything is exciting. To begin with it didn’t go down to well, but after 10mins of jumping about she gave up and walked beside me, tried pulling and realised she’s not going anywhere. Gave up and walked nicely next to me the whole walk! Best money I’ve ever spent, previously had a harness which did nothing! This is a must have if your dog pulls!

Does the job and stopped our springer pulling like a tank! Only real issue was getting him used to the collar as he kept spinning around trying to get it off as bot uses to it. I have stopped using the collar as in the end he kept scratching to get it off his nose that bad he made it bead and kept opening up the cut everyday, but he does walk a lot better now even without it on so it has made some sort of impact on our 13 month old springe

This is my second purchase of a Canny Collar. First one was around 8-9 years ago for our Springer who would pull on a standard lead. Whilst this is OK for short walks it’s not great on long walks.

The original item has fared very well and still works perfectly. I tried our original collar on our new puppy and decided I needed to buy another.

I now walk both dogs on these collars for long walks. There is still a little reluctance on the puppy’s part and he likes to try and rub it off his nose, but because the straps loop through the collar this isn’t a major problem and you still have the dog on the lead so no danger of them escaping.

Whilst this may not be a solution for all dogs I find that it works for me and our dogs.

The new collar is a little thicker and harder to put on than the old one but it certainly looks robust and well made and I can understand the cost given the quality of the product.

Item arrived quickly and well packaged – would recommend to friends.

Absolutely brilliant! Looked for ages online but certainly made the right choice here… With a normal collar my dog pulled SO hard and was all over the place but from very first use of the Canny Collar, he walked beautifully – could not believe it!! I now only need a lightweight lead using quite relaxed minimum restraint due to the clever design. Had it for about a month now and still marvel at the extreme before and after difference. Good quality with nice sturdy buckle. I attached a small lobster trigger clasp instead of the optional carabiner clips that came with the collar as quicker and bit less fiddly when altering to ‘off lead’!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersHow do you stop a dog from pulling on the lead? It’s been a perennial difficulty for me. I have a five year old Border Collie, who is very nervous, skittish, and on a standard lead and collar, will pull mercilessly. The other issue is that he is very strong, and controlling him requires a lot of patience and occasional brute force. However, I may well have found a lasting solution with this – the Canny Collar. It’s basically a strong, nylon loop that goes around the dog’s snout, going through a plastic bracket, and with two loose ends ending in two sturdy metal loops to which the lead is attached. It also has a standard buckle collar to keep the snout harness attached around the dog’s neck. The theory is, if you can control the direction of the dog’s snout – it’s led by it’s nose, after all – then the control rests in your hands. Now, the dog won’t necessarily like it at first – it’ll try to pull the loop from its snout, so persistence is required. However, having done so, I have now a level of hitherto unknown control over my dog’s direction. At the start of every walk, he does try to remove the loop, but by pulling on the lead it pulls his nose down, and after a few minutes, he gets used to it and behaves. It’s by far the best bit of kit I’ve ever used in controlling his pulling, and making the walk an altogether more pleasant experience – for me and for him. Well worth trying for a dog that pulls – but you must be prepared to be patient.

The canny collar is an excellent idea however my border collie still manages to pull it off his nose because as soon as there is the smallest amount of slack on the lead the nose strap becomes loose and he gets his claw under it and flip it off his nose, very frustrating. It has calmed his pulling constantly because he is too busy trying to get it off. I will persevere because I think in time he will give in,hopefully.

This has been a godsend, my boxer dog no longer drags me around on our walk, and we actually enjoy walking now! The loop that goes around her mouth is gentle and releases as soon as she stops pulling. Would 100% recommend

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWe have a 11 month old border collie who is just full of energy and a real nightmare on the lead. We tried other methods to try and stop her from pulling but they proofed useless. Then I came across the Canny Collar on YouTube. We thought about it before ordering it for a couple of weeks thinking it may be just another waste of money. It was getting worse to walk our dog and not something to be enjoyed. So we decided to go for it as it was now starting to affect my arm with all the pulling the dog was doing. Received the collar and also the canny lead put it on our dog and began to walk the dog expecting the worst but WHOW our dog took straight to it and walked next to me without any pulling. I now have a dog to be proud of and a real pleasure to walk. It’s a great I would also recommend the lead it’s the best I’ve had .if you are having problems with your dog pulling do not waste your money on anything other than the Canny collar.

    Absolutely great!!!
Had tried a harness and a half-collar on my 16 month old Labrador but my arms were still being stretched with his pulling. Talked to a puppy walker from the ‘Guide dogs for the blind’ who recommended the Canny Collar so I thought I’d give it a go.
From the outset it was as though I’d had my dog swapped for this new well behaved, happy to walk alongside, no pulling alien. It was unbelievable the transformation and a few months later it’s still working great.
What a transformation!! Fantastic product, well made and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I bought this for another dog as already had one. The buckle underneath seems to be far looser than the last one so the dog gets it off literally as soon as I stop walking. That said, it is still far better as stopping my husky x GSD pulling than all others. I was using a halty for that dog but it was putting pressure in his eye so would certainly but this over a halty

Thanks to previous reviews bought the right size for our Labrador bitch. At first it ‘irritated’ her but once she got used to it there is no doubt it works. ‘Lily’ is quite good on a ‘normal’ collar but likes to meet and greet when she meets other people/dogs and pulls across. With the Canny Collar on she is much better and under control, very pleased so far.

It does work well, when its on but it comes off easily, they can push if off if the lead goes slack but if you keep the lead tight you will have a pleasant walk. I have a crossed malamute/husky so can recommend it without hesitation as its the first “stop pulling” collar/harness/lead that actually works.

I have a 9 year old staffy cross pitbull, before I received this product my dog used to tug me about, it wasn’t quite, the forceful pulling some dogs do it’s that annoying tugging about that I hate, that’s why I tried this, at the start he didn’t mind it, we went for a walk and straight away I noticed a difference, I instantly was in love with the canny collar. Previously I was using a regular head collar from pets at home, it didn’t do anything, as the lead was connected by a metal loop under his chin, I think it was very irritating for him. With the canny collar the lead connects at the back of the head witch with much more comfortable for him. This product is very well made and I highly recommend this.

It was pretty straightforward to establish what size collar was needed and the ordering was no problem. It arrived as predicted in good condition. The instructions were clear and it didn’t take long to work out how to use it. We’ve had time to try to fit it once so far as we’ve only had it a couple of days. He didn’t like the strap over his nose, dropped back and pushed it off. (This does not mean the dog is free. The lead is still attached to the collar). We shall persevere as it looks to be the ideal solution to prevent pulling on the lead.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have been using a halti on my German Shepherd for the last couple of years but found that he could still pull quite strongly when he was determined enough. I bought the Canny Collar just to see if it was any good and I love it, I have so much more control over my dog because the lead clips on behind the head instead of under the chin pulling the nose down towards his chest instead of to the side like the halti does. I would recommend this to anyone who has a large strong breed of dog to give Piece of mind that you have control It would probably help stop dogs who pull quite a lot as well.

From the first time I used it, the collar slowed my dog down and stopped him pulling so much. Unfortunately he still hasn’t worked out that if he walks nicely it won’t put pressure on his nose. So walks are punctuated by him stopping and trying to get the nose strap off.

You have to be alert, because it is possible for dogs to get the strap off, if there’s is a bit of slack. My dog has learnt that if he drops behind me for a few seconds, he can sometimes get the strap off his nose.

The collar does the job, but is not yet an unqualified success.

The collar allows much better control of my rather boisterous dog in a calm manner without slipping into his eyes, him being able to turn and chew through the material or him being able to slip it over his nose all of which have happened with previous versions of head collars and control devices.
While he does still pull it is far less than before and on the whole he is much calmer. A good result providing calmer control than any previous, head collar, lead or harness combination previously tried.

Recommended by a dog trainer, after trying various ways to stop my GSD pulling on the lead. Walking is so much better now, just a little backward movement to remind her to keep with me and also much better control if she reacts to another dog while on lead. This collar is also better than similar collars as it pulls from the back rather than the side, avoiding injury to the dog. My shoulder is enjoying not be yanked every day now!

I can’t tell you what a difference this product has made to walking my Lab/Bordercollie, she used to pull so hard there was no way we could ever go for a walk where she needed to be on a lead. After deciding we wanted to do more walking and researching how to stop my dog pulling, the Canny coller was bought to my attention. I purchased one and it’s the best thing I could have done. She took to it really well (after a bit of head shaking) and walked like a dream. It truly works as when we don’t use it unfortunatly she’s as bad as ever!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the only collar/harness that really works with my German Shepherds. I find i can control them easily, without constant pulling and yanking and discomfort to the dog. And the two German Shepherds I have used them on respond well and seem very happy wearing them. Although they are well trained, they are constantly pulling ahead when we set off for walks, because they are so excited. And they are very strong dogs. Main word of advice though would be make sure you get the right size for your dog, as when they’re a little too big they tend to ride up over the dog’s eyes. Measure the neck carefully. One of my GSDs wears a size 4, the other a size 5, even though they are the same breed.

This is the best so far, unlike the Halti it is comfortable and I have much better control. It doesn’t magically make him the perfect dog, but it helps;) I am now able to take both my dogs out for a walk on my own, without fear of losing limbs! My dog also enjoys the walk more and wags his tail the whole way round !

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI recently rescued a large collie cross who, at 5 years old, had never been introduced to any type of lead. He is a strong dog and pulled me constantly. In our severe snow and ice earlier this month I was glad to get home in one piece after each walk. Despairing of him it seemed he would have to be let go. My last hope was a Canny Collar. The difference was quite amazing. Although, like many other people have commented with their dogs, he tried to get the nose part off, he still walked like a dream while it was in place. We are now at the stage of being able to slip the nose part off and he still walks quietly for occasional treats, something I would never have believed possible a few weeks ago. He knows if he pulls it goes straight back on, and that’s quite a pantomime with much head shaking, but we are certainly getting there. What a wonderful invention.

I actually bought this product for my sisters dog, and I’m giving feedback on her experience with it. The Canny collar doesnt stop pulling as much as a halti but it certainly helps! It also gives way more control over your dog than a halti and it feels kinder as it doesnt keep whiping his head around every time he pulls forward. My sister has an uncontrollable dog through rescuing him from a home and correcting mistakes is much harder than starting good habits believe me! Control on the lead is a must when walking down a busy road. A really good product which I would recommend to any one.
