This is a great product. I’ve bought 2 of these now, one for my home office and one for the lounge. Unpack, turn on and stop freezing. Would highly recommend.

We have a number of cheaper alternatives like 2kw Swan oil filled heaters which produce nowhere the amount of warmth this Delonghi heater does. Additionally after a year or two the cheaper heaters end up making endless ticking noises. Although more costly, the Delonghi is incredible and quickly heats the room. We’ve at times had to turn it off because the room gets too warm even at 21 degrees on the control. This model is pretty bulky but its a good compromise for the heat output. Wish I’d bought it earlier as the cheaper options are a false economy.

Good heat output. Bought for conservatory and heats it up fine on medium setting. Timer is a bit complicated but works well once set up. Manual controls are easy to use. Three heat setting (low 1100w, med 1400w and high 2500w).

This is our third De’ Longhi Dragon and I could not be happier with the improvements on the two 19 year old one’s we have at home.
They both still work, but are being used in my workshop out back. This winter past we had problems with our central heating pump and because of lockdown it could not be fixed. I cannot regulate my own temperature, due to illness, so this beast sat beside me in our living room.
With our stairs door shut, this actually had enough output to keep the whole of downstairs warm (that includes the living room, which is furthest from the stairs, the next room which is our kitchen, and both bathroom and dining room that come off of the kitchen) Not bad at all for one radiator.
They really do pack a punch.

Works really well, warms the kitchen nicely (around 30m3) in around 15 minutes and can feel the heat from it after 5 minutes, the timer is a little confusing think its the way you interpret the manual but once you get it works brilliantly. Its a little noisy when warming up (sounds bit like a random fast dripping tap) but silent when it’s up to temperature and running. Brilliant heater and will be purchasing another for the garage/man cave for next winter.

This is a superb piece of kit. Makes light work of our (well insulated and double skin brick) office. Didn’t even take itself out of the lowest eco level to keep it warm through very cold winter. Timer is fiddly but we don’t use that. Just set the min temp and let the internal thermostat do the switching on and off.

Bought this to heat up dining room due to working from home and didn’t want to heat up the whole house by putting on the central heating. Does a great job on the eco setting at 16 degrees

  28. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Purchased one large De’Longhi heater to supplement central heating in a very large lounge and two small ones for the shed and garage – ironically four days after arrival our boiler went down so all three were roped in to heat the whole house which they did, very satisfactorily, for a whole week before boiler was repaired. They are very efficient, easy to regulate and no smell at all when starting up, something the guidelines suggested might happen for the first few hours of switching on. The three did an amazing job of keeping the whole house warm at a time when outside temperature was barely above freezing. Very happy with purchase and would thoroughly reccomend.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought (and returned) about 4 other oil filled radiators before taking the plunge and spending a bit more in pursuit of the ‘you get what you pay for’ adage. I’d tried to max out on wattage 2.5Ku – 3Ku and save cash – budget was around 50-60 but every time I switched on these cheaper heaters I would feel almost no convection currents if I held my fingers above the fins. I am heating a 4x3m log cabin in the garden. With this heater, in 35 mins the entire room is warm, you can feel a lovely stream of hot air coming from the chimney fin designs but what really blew me away was the digital thermostat, you simply flick the dial to the required air temperature (from 15-28 Celsius), and once the air temp gets there, the heater switches to an eco mode that regulates the heat extremely efficiently and quietly. The only down side is that you can only use a WiFi plug to turn this off, while you can turn it on, it won’t start heating till you physically press the digital on button. If you want to use a WIFI plug for full on and off functionality opt for the slightly cheaper version of this dragon 4 retails around 124 with the mechanical tjmer. If you are hesitating about spending this sort of money on a heater, don’t: you won’t find a better one than this.

I have tended to use Dyson fan heaters in the past and found the noise pretty intrusive. Searching for something quieter, I had this model recommended by a neighbour and so bought two for this winter. I only need them to boost the existing underfloor heating and so don’t know how they would perform if the only heat source. They look good, are easy to move around and heat very effectively.

Bought at what I thought was an ok price (which had been changing a bit)
Then upon delivery found out that it was on offer cheaper by nearly 20, rang amazon who didn’t budge, so sent it back (which cost 5 for those sh1theels @ hermes to not pick up on time, let alone the sam day.

Elsewhere (costco) for 109 delivered, ordered that because Amazon cannot get its act together in terms of customer service.

This meant joining (26 for a year) & was STILL cheaper than amazon, cheap enough to push the button on Costco (who aren’t near us for their store but an hour down the road) ..the membership meant online & instore purchases are possible, GREAT.

Now the Heater, it is BIG & MOBILE, very steady to normal knocks (we already had a smaller dragon which meant buying on a deal was a no brainer) just don’t forget FILL IN THAT 10 YEAR WARRANTY.

In terms of heating they are nigh on silent, so ideal for bedrooms (we run ours near a dimplex dehumidifier so that functions more efficiently).

Throws out comfortable heat in ECO mode to normally insulated rooms, well insulated homes will really benefit twice over in efficiency terms though so do think that if you need a heater you need better insulation within it!

No heater is cheap to run, however in the “shoulder months” on low (1/3) will likely keep a room comfortable.
Heater is seemingly more responsive than our old Dimplex which this replaces & a cheap CPC unit which will go elsewhere.

Think about positioning, you don’t want this under a window where it will simply pee heat to the outside, get it to a back wall (internal) if possible & let the heat permeate across the room without being blocked in.

We love it that’s why we bought this second LARGER 2.5kWh unit (to run on low mainly), it was as cheap as our 2kWh dragon 4s so madness not to.

LCD display is not overpowering & is dimmable.
Dial control is a “ok” (once familiar) ..however now it has LESS buttons than the previous generation it can be very confusing for those who only use it occasionally, thus “oversimplification” has made it harder to operate than before as it is all now a bit hit & miss.

Also, although this is a bigger unit than our previous generation model in terms of heat output & size it seems to react to room heating requirements with less efficiency than our other unit, ..will have to ponder on that.

I just wish they did a wall bracket (one that also allowed a sliver of the thinnest sheet of reflective foil foam PIR insulation behind it to improve in room “throw” of heat)

We wanted a heater that could come on by itself and heat out mainly glass conservatory so we could continue to enjoy that space in the winter & this unit does the job brilliantly.
Set it at the temperature we want and set the timer for 15 minutes before we usually settle down and the place is nicely heated.
A very solid and well built unit that moves around easily on its wheels so stored in one position and then moved to the centre of the room to give out its heat.
We are delighted with this product.

This is so far a really great product. I’ve only had it 4 days, but it’s been amazing. If I was going to moan about it, the control system is over complicated and not immediately intuitive, but there’s plenty of videos on YouTube to show you how to operate if the instruction manual doesn’t work for you. The cable is too short and this is a big, big unit. That said I love this. It heats my room perfectly and you don’t notice it getting hot, you just aren’t cold anymore. If you leave the room and go back in, then you realise how warm the room is but I’m OK with that. Obviously the unit gets hot (it’s a radiator) but it has wheels and plastic handles that allow you to move it around safely and the plug doesn’t heat up like cheaper models do.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersThere’s plenty of oomph to this heater, and it seems so far, (1 day) to be more than adequate for our needs. My two gripes though are:

The timer is pretty complicated to get set up, I’ll have to study it some more to get it right, and its’ very old fashioned, surely a digital timer that allows you to say, turn it on on a Monday Tuesday and Wednesday to 21, and only 15 on the rest of the week is better than just allowing the same repetition every day, and easy enough to do with a little microprocessor. They’re expensive enough to warrant that sort of function.

Secondly, in an effort to save a few quid on this, we bought from Amazon Wharehouse, so we expected the thing to be a return, although we also expect amazon to inspect all items they resell in this way. This clearly wasn’t… the box still had the old tape on that the original purchaser used to wrap it for return, and it even still had the return slip in it, with the persons name and address on it. Not very professional, and a clear indication that it hadn’t even been opened by amazon, let alone inspected prior to reselling. very disappointing.

Got this for our extension at back of house because with it being made up of a lot of glass, it is hot in the summer but cold in the winter. After doing my homework first and reading many reviews I satisfied my mind that this seemed the best in what we were looking for! Although we have a radiator in the room it just wasn’t enough in winter but along with the Dragon 4 it is now a toasty & welcoming room that is a pleasure if we want to sit in. I’d say it takes just under an hour to get the benefits of fully heated room. As yet we haven’t used the timer so can’t answer if its any good – I’m just delighted that our extension is now a usable room for the winter months ahead! I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this heater.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis is a brilliant radiator. This heats our conservatory which is large and unusable in winter. For a dinner party we bring a second one in as well and then it’s too hot! So we can now use the conservatory all year. Glad I went for the 2.5kW because you can always turn it down, but flexibility there for “the coldest day” situation. Also would not be without the ECO setting on this model. Hate the thought of pumping out heat continuously when it’s up to temperature. The seller was extremely accommodating and easy to contact. We were in a panic to get it in time for Christmas and he made sure it got to us, for which we (and all our Christmas guests unknowingly) are very grateful. Also deliberated over this and a heater with element. However we have young children so this is a much better option as no risk of little hands posting toys into it. Not cheap to run, although I keep putting it on high because it’s so lovely to enjoy the conservatory/garden in winter. Nee to turn it down really…but for those occasions when you need to use the space it’s amazing. Again seller very nice chap.

Very efficient radiator. In less than 10 mins is ‘up and running’ ! Bought it as an alternative to have the central heating on to heat the kitchen as we spend a lot of time in there.

Golden Review Award: 46 From Our UsersHaving had an electrical fire in our utility room which more than affected the ability for the new gas boiler to be on for six days in cold January, we bought two of these Dragon 4 Pro 2.5kw heaters which arrived the next day (after a day of wearing loads of layers and using hot water bottles when sitting anywhere!)

Much cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else and well reviewed by Which etc as being the most economical of their type in the market. We were originally going to buy the one without the digital display but are glad we spent the extra money on the Pro version as so easy to use and we could see just how close to temperature and how much power was needed to reach it etc. Had experience of smaller less well made ones at work which were quite effective in smaller spaces but these really are brilliant. Work straight out of the box and so easy to use with the digital thermostat and clear read outs. They are also totally silent and we didn’t experience any of the initial use smells that others have written about. Heated a 8x5m kitchen-family room in an Edwardian end terrace with temp outside at 5 degrees to 22 degrees in an hour and keeps the heat steady once warm.

The wheels work well on hard flooring as well as carpet as we put the other one upstairs on the landing between four rooms with high ceilings. The cable is quite short but we had plenty of sockets so it wasn’t a problem. Really very well built, sturdy but stylish (if something like this can be stylish) and the 10 year guarantee is a huge plus. I’m not sure when we might use them again now that our normal heating is fully functioning and, at nearly 19kgs each we won’t be climbing up the ladder to put them in the loft, so a neutral cover for dust would be helpful for storage purposes. It may seem like a lot of money but these really could be used as a permanent fixture in a space that doesn’t have fixed radiators as they are as good as our normal double rads we have as part of our gas central heating. We also don’t want to be cold as it would have been tolerable for the one day but after that was miserable so the speedy delivery was a relief.

This has been a revelation over the winter so far. We have a 4m x 5m conservatory that’s had its roof insulated to turn it into, essentially, part of the house, but we’ve struggled to heat it. Until now.
As it’s an oil filled radiator, it takes a while to get going, so you’ll need to get it started a good twenty minutes before using the room. But once up and running it puts out a prodigious amount of heat – enough to make this room warmer than the centrally heated house, even though it was cold outside.
For a heater, this is also a good looking device, though it’s heavy. It has a built in thermostat that you can use to set a temperature in Celsius. It has three power settings, though we left it on maximum. Setting the time was a bit of a challenge and I never did work out how to use the timer because the time needed resetting every time the radiator was disconnected from the power. So, the lesson is to get it in position first before you set it up if you want to use the timer.
Overall, an excellent product that has turned our conservatory into a year-round room (along with the insulation).

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve bought four De’Longhi oil fired radiators of various models and power outputs with my own money so I jumped at the chance to use one of the latest Dragon 4 range of heaters. I currently have one dragon 3 and three dragon 4’s but only one, the dragon 3, has a digital control panel. There are a bewildering variety of models in their range and I suspect there is something for everyone’s needs and budget. I do have gas central heating in the house but there are areas in the house that are colder than others, where radiators are lacking and sometimes I only want to heat a small part of the house since I live alone.

First impressions out of the box are familiar. Just remove all the packaging, arrange the pre-assembled feet, place it where you want it to go near a socket, plug it in and set the controls. In my experience, although I rarely find it necessary to run at full power. it is worth running it for a period of time at full power with the windows open to dissipate any ‘new’ smells entirely from the radiator. Do it once from new and you will never have to repeat it. You will hear a lot of gurgling and popping as they first heat up from cold. Do not be alarmed! This is normal! At this stage it is worth pointing out that these radiators are far from silent. At best you will always get the occasional audible click as the thermostat turns the power on and off. It’s not particularly intrusive but it is there. When heating up from cold however, which should be a rare occurrence, they do pop and click a bit until they get up to temperature and then go quiet. The noise seems to be amplified by the metal structure so whatever is going on sounds worse than it truly is. Normally you will just leave them on for long periods of time on a low setting controlled by the thermostat and it is not an issue.

The control panel on this model is slightly different and more comprehensive than the digital control on my Dragon 3 and took some working out using the instructions but once set up for your schedule can be left alone to carry on barring power cuts where my experience with the Dragon 3 is you need to reset it. You can set a temperature to run tom and let the thermostat do its thing. I’m a ruffty-tuffty type and during autumn I will often not bother with the central heating just having one of these set 24/7 at the bottom of the hall stairway at 18 Degrees C. It’s enough to take the edge off any chill and the heat rises up the landing into the bathroom! On warm days I don’t have to worry the thermostat just switches itself off. Once the radiator is warm it is surprising how effective it is at heating a space. It’s not as quick as a fan heater but within half an hour you can feel the difference and in the meantime you can hear the television! Last winter I stayed warm in my house with two 2KW heaters and mostly they were operating at 800W. My electricity bill is currently 72 per month which includes all the showering, cooking of food, refrigeration, lighting and washing of clothes, not to mention stuff on standby. My gas bill is in single figures. Heating a house if you’re on your own or dealing with a heating dead spot if you’re not, needn’t be expensive! If I’d had the central heating on instead it would have been considerably more expensive and stuffy as my central heating radiators don’t have individual thermostats. If they did I suspect it wouldn’t be much cheaper. In the longer term I hope to save up to have my central heating completely refurbished and brought up to date. In the meantime these heaters are an effective and relatively cheap solution.

What don’t I like about these radiators? Well it’s more of a wish list really. It would be nice if they remembered your settings when powered off. The analog controlled ones don’t have this problem! Mostly it would be nice if you could set these up remotely via Bluetooth like a lot of things nowadays. It would make setup easier rather than bending down to push buttons and the app could remember your settings. Given the cost of Bluetooth modules nowadays it wouldn’t impact the price by more than a couple of quid.

So overall these heaters are highly recommended for heating cold spaces in your home for long periods of time in relative safety. I’ve been using De’Longhi heaters, often 24/7 through autumn, winter and spring, for about nine years now with no failures or defects.

I work from home and often choose to heat one room in the house rather than running the central heating and oil-filled radiators are brilliant for this purpose.

This De’Longhi model is one of the most expensive I’ve seen, previously I’ve only paid about a quarter of the price for one from different brands. The big difference with this model is that it has more functionality with a thermostat, a programmable timer and a frost protection function. My cheap radiator simply turns on and gets hotter and hotter till I turn it down or off, not ideal if you want to leave it unattended.

To control it, there are two buttons and a knob which you can turn and press. I found the thermostat and on/off function easy and logical to use, the frost guard simply means you can leave the radiator set to 5c and it will turn on automatically to prevent a room or outside building from freezing. However I cannot figure out how to use the timer which seems completely illogical!

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI love this heater! We have a fairly large workshop in the garden that always stays cold in winter, so we decided to invest in this heater. Wow! It arrived on Saturday and we had it set up in no time. I found the controls simple to use, and set the timer to run at intervals that suit us and to a comfortable temperature. Walking into the workshop now it feels like we have central heating in there. I didn’t experience any bad smells when starting it off on full power for the first few hours, and after two days it still doesn’t smell bad.

When I had a conservatory built last year one of the key decisions was whether to install heating. The cost of doing so was going to be very significant so I decided not to do so. I decided that I would use an electric heater which operated as a “fan” heater. There isn’t a fan as such just hot air being circulated. It’s a 2kw heater and it did OK in combating cold mornings.

I wondered whether this 2.5kw oil filled radiator would perform better. The answer is a resounding yes. It has a built in timer which means it is ideal for setting up to warm up the conservatory before I get up. Once it is operational it warms the room very quickly. Much more quickly than the fan heater.

I was mildly concerned having read a number of reviews which complained about a very unpleasant smell being given off by the heater. I also expected something of a smell as the instruction manual warns about it. I have to say I found it difficult to detect any smell at all from the radiator. Even running at 2.5kw I could not discern a smell.

The combination of this and the cost of electricity make this an economical solution compared to installing a heating system. And the fact that it is portable and mobile (It has wheels) means to can be used in any room where there is a need for heat.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThe instructions for first time use recommend running for a period on its highest setting of 28C, in order to burn off any ‘new’ smell, and whilst this did linger for a while, it was less potent than expected.
The radiator has been in use at 18C for a couple of weeks, on & off, and there is now no noticeable ‘oil’ odour, confirmed by various visitors passing through.

Although bigger than expected, it looks less industrial than some of the many out there, IMO, providing & maintaining consistent warmth, quickly & efficiently.
It is possibly not the answer for those who like a pitch-black bedroom as the clear display is still quite bright, to my eye, even when set to the lowest of its three brightness settings.

Arguably, the flex is on the short side being around 1 m 35 cm + UK plug, so I have to use a socket at skirting board level.

The box lid is clearly marked (last image below refers) and the advice is reiterated in the instruction booklet:

‘TO AVOID RISK OF CABLE OVERHEATING:
EXTENSION LEADS MUST NOT BE USED IN POWERING THIS APPLIANCE.’

    Also in the instructions:

‘this appliance must not be powered through an external timer.’

There are a number of other notes & warnings on the first couple of pages of the instruction booklet.
Apart from the more obvious, such as ‘some parts of the product can become very hot’ & not to ‘obstruct the air intake and outlet area’, others, I think, worth mentioning at this point include:

~ ‘OIL FILLED RADIATOR: This product is only suitable for well ventilated spaces or occasional useDo not use this radiator in rooms having a surface area of less than 43 square feet (4 sq. m)

~ Do not rest anything on the appliance.

~ WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, keep textiles, curtains, or any other flammable material a minimum distance of 1 m from the air outlet.

~ The appliance must not be located immediately below a fixed socket-outlet.

~ The appliance is fitted with a safety device which will switch off in case of accidental overheating (‘Ht’ error code on display).’

Exactly as currently pictured in the above stock images, this is a relatively heavy item (18.8 kg gross), which took two of us to manipulate out of the sturdy multi-lingual, cardboard box with polystyrene-type moulding inside and turn it upside down to deal with the 4 folding castors.
It is then easy to move around, push or pull by the built-in handles either side at the top, even on thickish carpet, in my experience.

In use, it makes the odd vague noise from time to time but nothing like the gurgling and random loud clicking of the old one I am comparing this directly to, also a DLonghi Dragon radiator, which I have had for over 10 years. The latter has proved to be very reliable keeping an ambient temperature in an integral garage on wintry days. On the industrial looking side, it didn’t make it into the house for that reason, but also because it has an obvious ‘oil’ smell in use so, on reading that the newer models had worked on this, it was good to be able to try out this latest version.

Nicely rounded, the TRDX4 1025E measures roughly 56 cm long max, allowing for the protrusion of the control knob x 30 cm wide max, allowing for the full splay of the castors x 66 cm tall, with a stated improvement to ‘air-flow emission rate’ & ‘chimney effect’, to provide warmth quickly and longer-lasting.
It has a neat, cable tidy area ~ manual wrap around & click into place (image below refers).

It operates within a range of 10C through to 28C and can run in either manual or electronic time-controlled mode. The latter allows for multiple on/off settings over a 24-hour period but, IMO, this is quite tricky to set up even following the instructions and it took someone far cleverer (and more patient) to fathom it out!

It has three power settings, which control how quickly the radiator heats up, as well as an ‘ECO’ mode which allows the radiator to automatically select the most convenient working level to reach/maintain the selected temperature.

There is also an ‘ANTI-FROST’ function when in manual mode which can be set to kick-in at 5C and maintain this level.

There is ‘KEY-LOCK’ functionality and a ‘TIP-OVER SAFETY’ (‘tos’ error code on display) mechanism that turns the radiator off if it ‘falls over or is positioned inappropriately in such a way as to jeopardise safety.’
The instruction leaflet incorporates a brief TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE on the last page that includes a description of the possible display error codes, the main cause and what to do.

The radiator simply wipes clean with a soft duster, also in my experience so far.

    [24 images attached]

Less industrial looking than some and doesn’t smell after the initial blast off!

We have had a De’Longhi oil filled radiator in our conservatory for at least 15 years and it’s still going strong. However, we were interested to try this new, much advanced model, for energy efficiency if nothing else!
    Boy, is it great?
The digital display is a wonderful feature, as is the ability to set the radiator to switch on in advance. No more coming down to a freezing cold conservatory in the morning.
The wheels are built in, unlike our old model, and so simple to manoeuvre.
The heat output from the top and sides is amazing, but be warned, it does become very hot so care needs taking around children and pets.
This is top class and I would recommend it unreservedly for heating a cool space in your home.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve used an older model of De’Longhi’s Dragon 4 oil-filler radiator (a TRD40820T) for a number of years and it has performed very well indeed. This new 2019 model (the TRDX41025E) is quite a bit more sophisticated than my old Dragon 4, offering a higher power rating plus a digital LED control panel and timer — my old model was completely mechanical knobs and switches. This 2500 Watt TRDX radiator shares an Amazon product page with a couple of other models with reviews for all of them grouped together so check which version the review you read refers to. The De’Longhi TRDX41025E Dragon 4 comes pre-assembled and ready for use — just swing the wheels out and into position. It has easy-to-use controls with three heat settings plus anti-frost protection and it features an energy-saving eco function and a 24 hour digital timer. This oil-filled radiator is quiet in operation and although it doesn’t offer the instant heat of a fan-heater or convector once it reaches the desired temperature it maintains a constant background heat more like central heating — which I prefer where I am using it in my external garden cabin. At around one hundred and eighty pounds currently from Amazon this is an expensive heater by comparison to many that look similar. However, you do get excellent design plus high build quality with De’Longhi products and this version of the Dragon 4 is a state-of-the-art oil-filled radiator that is very well featured and seems built to last. This is a good heater for certain specific uses rather than for general heating, and if you have a room without central heating — perhaps a conservatory, garage or workshop — then this Dragon will keep that area warm and snug at a constant temperature. Five stars for design, features and build quality — highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHave used various iterations of the Dragon heaters for many years. The chimney effect isn’t a gimmick and they heat extremely well. This latest version has simpler controls but it’s broadly the same. Heat range and timer functions.

The heater controls heat output in a ramped way to minimise switching on and off and it’s very good at this. It’s pretty quiet anyway and shouldn’t keep anyone awake unless they are super sensitive.

A downside – exactly the same as the others – is if you run it on full heat it can emit a smell which is almost like a bit of the oil burning off – I’m sure it isn’t/can’t be, but it is there and has been on every single one I’ve had over the years.

My trick is to run it in heat setting 2 as for the rooms I use it in, this is more than sufficient and it’s a superb heater in every other way.

Note because of the high power draw, it has a short cable and should not really be used with an extension cable. You may find you experience power trips if you don’t use it in a way that recognises its right on the edge of 13 amp wiring / fuses. Again, running in heat setting 2 completely negates this.

Got this for partner work space as his old one lights had broken and it cost alot to run .
This has been great. No assembling required simply lift out the box and very cleverly just untuck the wheels at the bottom . Simple plug and play with turn and push buttons ,we like that u can set a temp and it keeps it. Love the clear digital displays and that it has auto switch off with a alarm. The wheels are easy to manoeuvre. The heats gentle and quite but powerful and wven when switched off its long lasting . Really good quality well made with an amazing 10 year warranty! Highly recommend

The packaging is deceiving as there is no clear English translation on the box. That said the contents are clear enough, with the unit sporting an impressive radiator trim which seems to emit more heat that our similar model by another brand. Good to see some ‘eco’ settings on there and easy to use digital options all based on the three buttons on the side. It states clearly not to use via an extension lead and this is sensible. Overall a great portable heater, my wife is pleased!

  97. ReedColunga says:

The radiator is quite heavy so getting it out of the box can be a bit tricky to start with. When it comes out of the box, the wheels are folded in, so you’ll have to tilt it to get them in the right position to have it stand properly. I found that mildly irritating and aside from allowing it to squeeze into a slightly smaller box, I’m not sure what benefit the folding wheels will be to customers, but it’s a feature.

The packaging contains some single use plastic and polystyrene blocks instead of more easily recyclable materials.

The radiator itself is utilitarian and probably won’t win any beauty awards, but it is simple to use. There is a spool to wrap the flex when it’s not in use. There is a black plastic panel which features the on/off buttom, timer switch and temperature setting. The LCD display is bright and clear and the basic controls are easy to use. I found the timer a little more footery, but once I had it set it worked perfectly and powered down as I wanted.

The radiator heats up very quickly, gives out a good wall of warmth and operates silently, so no complaints here.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a superb radiator and worth every penny.

Its well built and super easy to setup. I like that the wheels just flip out and its ready unlike cheaper ones where you need some assembly.

I find the power cable a bit short and first use should be by an open window until the burn in smell is gone. I found this took a day.

Use is mega easy thanks to the digital display. Digital temperature control and the timer are both really easy to use.

The radiator intelligently adjusts the power setting to reach and maintain the desired heat.

The key thing for me though is the themrostat. Instead of a loud click its a soft muted one and thus is great in my daughters room

Heats a large room quikly and easily

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a splendid radiator and simply a great way of heating a room by electricity. I have had a number of different models over the years and have been using a 2Kw model of the same brand in my study for 5 years. It still works fine, but having the opportunity to try this I was amazed at the improvements in those 5 years.
Controls are electronic and a rotary control performs most functions. You can set this to come on/go off 24 hours in advance, so at least you can go into your office the next day to a pre-warmed room. With 2.5KW of power it may seem to be a higher running cost but the digital control allows you to set exactly the right running level for your room and adjustments are simple.
Heat release from the sides and top seems to be a lot greater than my other model and the built in castors are a huge asset – not having to screw those together was a plus! This really is easy to move from room to room as you need it.
Apparently, if it is knocked over it has an automatic cut off too! This really does get ridiculously hot, so safety is a must, and you do want to keep kids away from it, but other than the shock of heat, I doubt they could really hurt themselves.
This is a really advanced product that delivers heat to rooms that need it fairly quickly and can be maintained over long periods – even if you just want to keep the frost off (like in a conservatory). A great product that delivers on its promises – and it has totally won me over by the huge advances of the last 5 years!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m reviewing the 2500W version here and it’s a large beast of a radiator, bigger than I expected and bigger than any of the free-standing oil radiators we bought in the past. It’s chunky, with an outer shell that gives a lot of ventilation and which also makes it look more advanced, almost sci-fi in design. That’s added to by the neat idea of fold-out wheels, which keep it compact when not in use but allow it to roll easily, and a bold and colourful LCD display which feels bright and modern (by oil heater standards).

The controls are really intuitive and easy, with a nice big temperature dial which doubles as an ‘OK’ button when setting things, and a very clear lit display for whether it’s on or off. The built-in timer isn’t quite as intuitive, requiring me to look at the (very clear and understandable) instruction manual, where I found that the temperatures and times it’s set to by default (21 degrees from 5am to 8am, then again from 4pm to 10pm) were pretty much what I might have set on it anyway so I didn’t need to set anything- which was nice! Additional options like the brightness adjustment on the display and controls over the beep sound that this timer makes when adjusted show that a good deal of care has gone into the controls.

The temperature is great, naturally. It’s refreshing to get an oil heater that allows you to set an actual temperature in degrees Celsius, rather than just an arbitrary ‘between 1 and 10’-type level. So far the thermostat seems accurate for the room and fills me with confidence. The temperature range for thermostat-driven control is between 10 degrees and 28 degrees, but with an additional 5-degree anti-frost setting as well, yet another plus.

The idea of having a selected power level and a working power level, that can be different things, makes it the most advanced oil heater controller I’ve ever seen, especially once ‘Eco’ mode is factored in- but once you get your head around it, it feels like a real positive step that you can aim at a specific temperature, but you can also set the heater’s power level to determine how quickly, or with how much electricity, it’s going to get to that temperature.

The sheer size of this thing means it might not be the compact little room heater that some people are after, but if you want a beefy oil heater with a good range of controls and options, including an Eco function, then I’m properly impressed by this.
