I took a chance on this bench stone. The return was amazing edges on my chisels. I will not be going back to to the brand I used for 10 years.
I bought both the x coarse / coarse and x fine / fine kits. Best “stones” I’ve ever used
DMT makes good sharpeners. They’re the best I’ve used. They’re solid (wouldn’t want liquid ones, I reckon), and they work well for putting an edge on my carving tools. I’d like one that’d let me sharpen the inside bevel on my hook knife, and my bowl-turning hook.

They are great unfortunately I ordered the wrong size for my plane irons. And the extra course seemed to wear out quickly
about optimum size and weight … and it sure cuts steel. For me, putting on some relaxing music and getting to it led to nicely polished and sharp results. I’m delighted.
My wood chisels and knives are literally sharp enough to shave. Works very quickly to touch up wood chisels and smoothing plane blades to “hiss” sharpness with a strop. Much faster and easier than maintaining/dressing a final stone.

Works great on a wide variety knives. A very good edge can be achieved rather quickly. Personally, I would like it to be about a half inch wider. Overall, I am very happy with this item.

Great stone for sharpening wood carving chisels. These DMT stones are reportedly hard enough to last a lifetime and one can stop having to flatten and deal with messy water stones.

What’s not to like. You never have to re-flaten it and it holds up for a very long time as long as you lubricate it with simple green or WD40.

I love this… oh how I stressed over spending the money for this. Day after day,, week after week,,,, then finally I bit the bullet. I am glad I did.
I use this a lot. And it has cut my time in half or better in preparing and honing my carving knifes.. two sided is a great. I do not regret spending the money on this because this thing will not wear out.
Previous buyer and present user of different DMT sharpeners. Bought this smaller 6″ for folders and smaller knives. Works great with the Duo Base as well. These things are just simply incredible. It makes sharpening easier and enjoyable.

Was looking for something that would get my chisels and plane blades razer sharp. This fits the bill nicely. The fine is great for a quick touch up and coupled with the course if more work is needed will get the job done. Glad I bought it.j
Removes material super fast, after breaking in this diamond stone with a couple beater knives I reprofiled my spyderco paramilitary 2 with this and the fine/extra fine diamond stone and its screaming sharp!
Sharpener works well with the knives. It is quite thin, and have not found a good way to hold or secure it without danger of slicing open a palm or finger while sharpening a knife. For a while I used the clear plastic top of the blister-pack as a holder. Seems with a little thought, the packaging folks could design a holder/mount for the steel and not add much more to the cost of the product.
Revising this review. Had withheld one star because of problem noted above with large knives. Needed fine tweezers to extract small cactus spines. Had small tweezers, but of conventional stamped construction. Under 3X glass, had square-cut edge, duller than average butter knife. With this stone, put a righteous edge and point on them.
Excellent product, especially when used in conjunction with the Ultimate Sharpening Jig by Very Super Cool Tools.

They mention on the package that the stone will feel rough at the start but will smooth out over time. They are right and I was initially concerned because it lost some of its brightness immediately. However it has not effected the performance at all.
It works great as a lapping stone (flattening water stones) and as a sharpener. Diamond lapping stones are very spend so this works just as well at a fraction of the price.
Great stone. Coarse side is great for removing metal. Fine side puts a pretty good polish. This stone is a good buy.

Great stone to add to anyone’s collection. The diamonds cut faster and deeper. Making work go faster. Will last a long time.
This is not a stone, but a diamond coated plate of very flat steel. I love this unit, and it puts my water stones to shame, The stone must always be dresses to keep them flat, and the $$ I have invested in them is far beyond what I would have spent had I simply picked up a few of these. Well, I did not know they even existed till a few weeks ago. As soon as I can, I will be purchasing the course and extra course plate… and at that point I will have everything I need simple and sweet!
I have used it just a few times but it has been good each time I would say it was a good buy.

The price of this two-sided sharpening stone is a bit high, although one should be aware that it has two usable sides unlike other models with just one. I’m happy so far and assume that it will last at least a few decades like my older DMT stone has.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago.
This fall I bought two more, an extra one for myself and one for my brother.
This is by far the best sharpening stone I have ever owned.
And I’m very happy with the supplier. Delivery was prompt and the price very reasonable.

DMT stones are great sharpening stones! They are great for both sharpening your cutlery and for flattening waterstones. I personally use mine for both and they work great! DMT guarantees that their stones are flat, and the best part is that they STAY FLAT. Highly recommended.
