I don’t know what to say, it looks to be in a fully working condition. I saw a lot of comments on here stating that these come with no batteries and as soon as I unpacked mine I was like “they were right!” well.. I opened up the alarm and batteries were already inside rather than being outside of it. Check that before you get upset (like me) 🙂

Item was a replacement for carbon monoxide alarm, they were same size, easily fitted and are already working and monitoring for poisonous gasses.

There’s no reason you should have kept the manual, or remembered what it said a year or two ago, but it clearly says your alarm isn’t broken. After replacing the batteries, you need to leave it for 5–10 minutes before it starts working again.

Bought these 2 CO2 alarms to replace ones that had run out and never been replaced, after my annual gas-safety inspection alerted me to the fact that I should have 2 in the kitchen. Easy to place at a high level in 2 different areas of the kitchen, to be close to the gas boiler and gas cooker. Can’t vouch for battery life, as I had forgotten about the old ones for so long that they were no longer working.

    – Long battery life (had for a year and batteries still going)
    – Small but sturdy, easy to find places to put the alarm.
    – It is good that the alarm can be tested, (very loud when tested)

Wanted a decently priced but reliable Carbon Monoxide detector. This seems to do the job nicely and the battery lasts as long as they advertise. Easy to fit too.
Only down side to these is that there is no way to just replace the battery, so you have to dispose of the whole unit when the battery goes (which I think is something to do with how the CO detector only lasts so long, rather than a design flaw).

I bought this product as we have a wood-burning stove and it was suggested to me that it was advisable to have a carbon monoxide detector. This one was reasonably priced and recommended, and it seems fine. The instructions included how to test for carbon monoxide detection but it seemed a lot of hassle and I decided not to bother. So I can’t confirm that it detects but I have no reason to doubt it and it’s a lot better than not having anything. It gives a good degree of peace of mind.

Unsure about the overall reliability of the device as thankfully haven’t been in that situation. It loses a star because I worry it may not function when it’s needed to work. The instruction manual is a bit confusing.. Especially how it descrbies the test feature. This is the reason why I am unsure about it’s overall performance. The unit is a moveable one which means no holes in the walls. I didn’t get told off by my gas safety check man, which I have been for the last 5 years. It just sits there doing it’s job. This product blew me out of the water! It is unbelievably good at detecting carbon monoxide, and with a bonus: it sounds an alarm if it detects it! WOW! The human race never ceases to impress me with its incredible innovation. I have rarely been so happy to receive something from amazon and I can’t wait to take this travelling with me to detect the deadly CO all around the world! I finally feel complete. I love how the light flashes as well, a great attention to detail!

I’m nervous about carbon monoxide as it’s a silent killer, so I’ve installed these alarms in most critical areas of the house. This version features two AA replaceable batteries and a test button plus LED indicators for alarm and end of life/fault indication. The audible alarm is loud and sufficient for most homes. The unit can be freestanding on a shelf or wall mounted.

In case the manufacturer reads this review there is a slight fault in the user manual which refers to approved batteries being listed on page 16 of the manual, in my manual, there is no page 16 and no list of approved batteries – this detail needs correction.

Overall, this is a really easy to use product that could save yours and others lives so well worth the small cost.

What can I say?! It works and might save my life one day. I live on a boat and carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the biggest reasons for boatdweller deaths. I have it next to the stove and it has a little light that flashes every minute so you know it’s doing what it’s supposed to. You can test it to check it’s still working properly which I do every so often. The instructions will tell you how to do that and you have to do it when you first get it anyway. It’s probably one of the most important things I own.

A neat little alarm from a trusted brand. The instructions are clear and even explain how to do a real world test using incense sticks rather than just relying on the ‘test’ button. Something to note is that this alarm is identical in every aspect to one sold under the ‘First Alert’ brand.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWe have several gas appliances as well as an open fire and therefore decided to get this just in case.
It came nicely packaged and had two batteries already fitted, with an activator strip that is pulled out to power it up. After a minute or so warming up, the green led started to flash every minute and a quick press of the test button proved that it indeed works.
Comprehensive instructions are provided including details of how to physically test the sensor with an incense stick. I shall be doing that every twelve months when I check the batteries. The instructions recommend mounting on a wall (with the fittings provided) above door height, but I’ve placed ours on a high shelf, so it should be ok.
In my view, 13 is a small price to pay for piece of mind and I would urge anyone with gas appliances to get one.

I bought this product because I’m fed up of drying washing being strewn over every door, radiator, char in the house and what fits on our clothes airer stays there for days until it dries. unfortunately it’s caused a bit of a war at home. It’s sturdy (not like what other reviews have suggested) and holds a large load of washing. The downside is that according to our smart meter, left on over night, it uses as much electricity as we use in a whole day if we’re at home! For that reason, my husband wants to get rid of it. The cover has just arrived which should make the clothes dry sooner (according to other reviews). I love it. The clothes are all tucked away in the spare room now and my daughter’s rocking horse is no longer used to hang wet jumpers with pants on it’s ears!

I bought this alarm because a close childhood friend inhaled Carbon Monoxide from a faulty gas heater while they was on holiday. They survived and as you know you cannot see, smell or feel Carbon Monoxide anywhere in the air or room you are standing in. The leak can kill anyone depending on the amount people inhale into there body. I constantly check my alarm and add new batteries to it for my own safety from becoming a victim. The unit is plane white with no decoration on it, depending where you mount it in your house you might want to hide it where it is not visible. Possibly in the vicinity of your gas heater.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI purchased this product to protect in the event of a CO build up from my wood burner. I have also installed another unit near to the hot water boiler. The units are very easy to install and compact. I have positioned the units in line with the instructions given, however I have placed them slightly out of eye line as the unit flashes a small green light (to show operation) every few minutes, which some may find annoying (although in essence this should cause no issues).
The audible alarm level is set at a point which should cover normal background noise levels, however if you have loud noise levels (music etc) the alarm may not be heard, but this would be infrequent.

Bought and installed this Alarm for our house after being made aware of the ‘hidden’ nature of Carbon Monoxide gas – a friend had died after becoming unconscious from Carbon Monoxide poisoning! The unit is easy to install & set-up and also to periodically check to ensure it will ‘alarm’ in the event of a CM leak occurring. Once installed it gives great ,peace of mind, similar to a Fire Alarm unit.

  79. CorneliusSatter says:

Seems to work fine when we try the test button, the green light flickers to show it’s active so can only assume it’s all good and everything is working as it should do. Apart from attempting a bit of carbon monoxide poisoning to make sure it goes off when it should I’ll have to trust the sensor is working! Similar to a fire alarm really I guess – you have to put trust in the product that the sensors are working without setting your house on fire to try it, and that the test button isn’t just making sure the bleeper is working and batteries have some life left.

All in All, nice product, looks good, LOUD beeper, not too large so you can pop it near your log burner (or whatever you think might poison you) without ruining the look too much, and certainly worth having in your home. So FIVE big ones for this.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is one of those products where you base a good amount of faith upon. How do I know it is actually working? I just have to presume it is, if the LEDs tell me so.

My parents had one of their fireplaces replaced. In doing so, the contractor recommended we get carbon monoxide alarms. Seemed sound, since all the rooms are heated with fireplaces or wood burning stoves. I’d rather my parents not die prematurely, so I purchased a few of these.

Happy to report there have been no incidences. It has a self-diagnosing test, which seems fine.

The one year battery that is included, has not indicated, on any of them, that they have needed to be replaced.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWhat can I say? It’s small, light, can be moved around to a place that suits you, or fitted to the wall. The fire brigade came around to fit some new smoke alarms and I asked them how close would this need to be to the boiler? He said it was one of the best out there, and can be in the next room, it doesn’t need to be right next to it.

Why did I buy it? Peace of mind! Small price to pay when I have 3 children in the house. Always one of those worrying things if you think you smell gas, and don’t have one of these alarms! Fire angel is a big name in these lines of products, so you can’t go wrong.

Does it work? Thankfully I haven’t had to rely on it yet, but there is a small LED that shows it’s still on, and a test button that you can test every week.

Let’s face it, every house should have one of these along with smoke alarms. Should be compulsory for rental properties!

However it was easy to put up and I haven’t had any problems with it 🙂

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis seems perfectly serviceable, there is a decent manual, though where exactly to put carbon monoxide detector is not the easiest to work out. The detector came with batteries, in a plastic pack that was easy enough to open. There are screws in case you want to fit it to a wall, or it can just be sat on a shelf. There is a big tester button, and a green light winks every minute to tell you it is working. There is a chirrup if the battery runs low, and an almighty noise if it detects anything. It will only detect carbon monoxide, not smoke and not gas leaks.

It would not pass for something super stylish by Bang and Olufsen but looks perfectly acceptable. Worth having if you have gas or solid fuel.

My huge criticism is you need to be millimetre perfect when drilling the holes to mount it on the wall. I would a suggested add on for this be blu-tac.

Arrived promptly, I purchased in a lighting deal. I’ve always wanted to get a co2 alarm for peace of mind. On arrival, I thought how nice and compact unit it is, it comes with batteries. Apparently you should have a sealed unit fir certain building regs if that’s why you need it beware, I don’t it’s just for my peace of mind. I tested the alarm and omg that noise is sure to wake you!!! I mentioned it was Compact unit, ive put it in my living room and is not on view, but I know it’s there and it makes me feel better.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt works fine, very detailed instructions which were a bit off putting at first(I am useless with instructions) but I ploughed through them and am pleased with the result. I tested it as per instructions and it alarmed satisfactorily. Hopefully will never be called on in an emergency!
It is small and unobtrusive on the wall, looks quite smart and ‘hi tech’. I had just decorated the room and was worried it would spoil the look but its fine. If I decide to buy another, it will be this model. And it was the cheapest model I could find.
Am very pleased at this early stage.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought one of these for our kitchen as this is where our boiler is and we also have gas cooking hobs.

I was very impressed with the quality of this CO detector and alarm. It is made by a reputable company and is of excellent build quality. The instuctions are clear and comprehensive and tell you the best place to mount it. I also liked the fact that the instructions explained how to test that the actual CO detector works as well as the warning siren, which gave me complete peace of mind that I can rely on this to tell me if dangerous levels of CO are ever present.

The instructions recommend that one of these is placed at least in every room that has a combustion appliance, but I have ordered another one for our upstairs landing just to be on the safe side. The fact that these are being sold for 10 more in B&Q and Wickes makes this an even better buy on here.

I’ve put this in my cloakroom which houses our boiler after our yearly maintenance company advised that we needed to have some sort of monitor to detect carbon monoxide. He was trying to flog us one for 30 but I knew that I could get a better value one elsewhere.

This is a nicely designed product, which sits on the window sill and is hardly noticeable. Does what it says, there is a light for the alarm and one for if it detects the poisonous gas. Worth getting for use in any areas where you have gas appliances.

Alarm will hopefully do what it says on the box – i.e. scream out and show a red light if carbon monoxide levels rise to a dangerous level. to ensure that the gadget is ready when needed there’s a big alarm tester button and a red light blinks if batteries run low.
Its small size is convenient so it can stand on a table, bookcase or counter within the advised distance from a potential carbon monoxide source. It’s a good buy.

Bough this product as a second unit, I also bought a Honeywell H450EN at the same time, The device has to be mounted with a screw and rawlplug, making a hole in the wall, The Honeywell unit has a small panel pin and a plastic cap, to fit it to the wall, The Honeywell unit is more expensive, but the easier to fit, It appears that you cannot change the battery in the Honeywell unit, But you can in the Fireangel . It is hard to make a choice, do yo trust the Fireangel or the Honeywell ?.The more expensive Honeywell , does seem better made, “You pays your money and makes your choice”. After all, this is to save lives !.
One star lost for hole in the wall, and the drill mess fitting it.When the unit dies, you will have a hole to fill in.

This is the sort of device that you don’t want to know is working, if you follow me. If this detector starts bleeping I know my wallet is going to start bleeding.
It is discreet, easy to install and comes with all you need to fit it and instructions on where by to site it. Which is just as well, otherwise it would have gone in quite the wrong place.
I want to give it a full-five stars, but I don’t know if it works – I am glad to say.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this for my narrow-boat as the one on board was well over 5 years old and although seemingly still functioning I didn’t want to take the risk! It is small and neat and is easily wall mounted with the screws and wall plugs included. It runs on 2 x AA batteries which are also included. It has a large test button a red warning LED and a green power LED. The alarm siren is nice and loud as it should be. For the price It seems very good value and certainly seems well built and doesn’t look or feel cheap..

Carbon monoxide is a silent, colourless, odourless killer. This is a compact detector from a well respected brand at a low price – what’s not to like?

The sensible thing is to have several (preferably from different manufacturers) and to use them at home or holiday destinations. They can go faulty and not raise an alarm, or raise false alarms – hence you should have more than one.

I have several in use and can say that (from personal experience) they do work and can also go faulty.

This CO detector is very good value.

If I have one criticism it is to do with the mode of fixing it to the ceiling. Using a paper template you mark positions for the two screws on the ceiling, drill the holes and put the screws in. The detector has two slots on the back to locate onto the two screws. Sounds easy. However if you get either of the two holes more than 1mm off target them you’ve got a problem as you can’t fix push the detector onto the screws. I bought two of these detectors. The first went up perfectly and the second didn’t! I have used CO (and smoke detectors) in the past that were better designed in this respect. Would have given the Fireangel 5 stars is not for this issue.

Purchased a week ago to replace Scottish Gas alarm, which cost twice as much and lasted 5 years until batteries gave up and cannot be replaced.
Looks the part, neat appearance with alarm test button and flashing red alarm light and green flashing active working light display.
Fireangel comes with 2 screws and rawplugs for wall mounting but as my old one only had 1 pin fitting on wall I have mounted it just sitting on its side with the 2 lights visable over the top of the wall cupboard surrounding my gas boiler, ensuring that if accidentally knocked over it will remain on the shelf and not fall into the boiler assembly!! May get round to proper mounting sometime.
When you first power up with supplied batteries in daylight you will need to sit and watch for the green light to flash momentary every minute to show that it is working! Obviously at night time you will catch the green light showing that it is in order. Good loud alarm with test button similar to a smoke alarm. Peace of mind, just keep checking for green flashing light and occasional test.

I have back boiler runing from fireplace where I’m burning coal and wood. This is only source of heating in my cottage. This Alarm will sound when my chimney gets blocked (example falen bird inside chimney). I have been lighlty poisoned by CO before and its true YOU DON’T SMELL ANY SMOKE which means BUY THIS. Smoke detector alarms only when you have smoke in house NOT CO. ALWAYS BUY BOTH SMOKE and CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM, YOU WIL NOT GET ANOTHER CHANCE IF SOMETHING WRONG HAPPENS.
I TESTED THIS ALARM and IT WORKS!!
