Did what it said it would.
I bought this item to repair a rotten fence post that had snapped just below ground level. The design of the spike (to go around the leftover stump) made it easy to drive in. I had to make a block to help me hammer it home, which I had anticipated.
Some of the other reviews suggest the need to cut grooves in the new post, I would suggest that this is not necessary and could make the post less secure.
Would definitely buy agai
Done exactly what I needed it to.
If you can fit the the spike to the post first, It’s a tight fit so saves a lot of bother trying to knock the post into the spike. Well made and I done exactly what I needed it to do.
Hard to find in this size, worth seeking ou
Each year we seem to lose one or two old, concreted in, fence posts. These repair spikes are ideal to just drive into the existing concrete, and then bash in the new post. Be careful when driving in, they can deform. Once in place seem easy to get really straigt and then last years.
Excellent!!
Bought this to repair a broken fence post which had snapped off leaving rotten wood deep in the hole. Did the job excellently, very pleased! Great value and good qualty.
Great product to securely anchoring a fence pos
I used this product to secure a new fence post where the original one had broken off within it’s concrete base. Great way of getting replacement fence post in exactly same position as the original without having to dig out original concrete base
excellent quality
Works a treat, saves having to dig all the concrete out.
Fitted in minutes.
Grate for the little posts in my frunt garde
Theys easy to put in the ground and hold the wooden posts grate
All fine
All fine. Does the job. Solidly made. One thing to watch out for is that this type of spike, which is asymetrical, has a tendency to go in at a bit of slant. This was fine for me because I needed to get round the foot of a wall and the spike sort of bridges over it. Also I would recommend putting a block of wood or soemthing on top of the spike and hammering that rather than the spike itself: you don’t want to bend it.
Solid, do the job - faff to prepare pos
Solid bit of construction, useful if you have firm and stone free base (I’ve had to dig some hole and fill with postfix which negates some of the point of these).
Didn’t realise that the insides have 2 sides with fairly pronounced inward facing grooves (to grip the wood) and using standard 4 by 4 post (especially with the various inaccuracies in that measurement) meant that no post , in my experience, would slot in – even with an encouraging mallet whack – without first cutting away two sides with a chisel to a depth of about 2 mms and then cutting 4 channels to hold the grooves. Once cut and with the help of a mallet I could attach the spike to the post and then belt the whole lot into the ground.
If you don’t clear any significant stones the spike can twist off centre. Don’t recommend using these spikes for large posts (I was using them for an pergola) and so I had to be up a ladder with a mallet. Also used them for a smaller 3 foot fence posts which they were ideal for.
Good product, did the job, hopefully will avoid most post rot, in hindsight might have bought the one’s that you tighten around the post to save me the hassle of chiselling.
Excelle
Excellent. If you’ve ever used these or similar items its pretty much what you would expect.
Easy to use and robust.
Easy to drive the spike down between the cleaned up post remaining in the concrete square hole. To spread the force of the heavy hammer (sledge hammer) I rested an old block of wood across the top of the spike. Similar routine to drive in the new post into the spike.
Great in correct spplicatio
No instructions for this item, but worked a treat and look forward to many years of service. Should be used to replace a 4 inch square gate post cast into concrete wher the concrete is visible. I put post onto bracket and hammered both into post hole using heavy rubber mallet so as not to damage post. A metal heavy hammyer could be used but use sacrificial timber to protect post during hammering.
Exactly what was ordered
They were exactly what was advertised, the size, the material, everything was correct.
Just the job
Great quality and shorter than others so easier to correct. Great price for what it is, no complaints. Perfect snug fit for 75mm posts, fit great but also easy enough to take out and put back in. Great product.
Good to repair rotted posts.
Very easy to install and restore a post that had rotted at base. Only regret is inability to drive through concrete supporting the old post, so had to reposition slightly to avoid.
Easy to fit and very robus
The spikes are so easy to fit and extremely robust. My pergola is solid now it is standing in the spikes
Does the job.
I needed this to hold a new fence post, and it was just what was needed.
work well & for price are 5*
Internal barbs a positive & a concern. Had to plan work around being sure pre-morticed post height right before insertion. Removal of post after fit to adjust not really an option. Tighter fit posts needed 4lb whacks to base/spike end to fully fit in. Results more firm than easier to use corner bolt type. 3 x Fixman for the price of 1 premium brand at local yard. A small fraction the effort of digging out post (did SDS+auger the hole 30cm pre-spiking to be sure of insertion & to get height right before fitting in post). No need to pay for a fencing pro – brilliant.
Sturdy and well made
Good heavy grade steel fabrication, used them bedded in concrete for porch uprights. Made the job so much easier.
Quality easy to install efficient delivery
I ordered item Friday lunch delivered 1.30 Saturday by 3pm the spike was installed the post refitted worked a treat very sturdy easy to install great value for money gods quality !!!!!!!!
I saw a negative review but I suspect the correct fitting tool wasn’t used this is essential even when fitting met post many thanks cmm
Totally fine.
I actually didn’t use them to repair fence posts, but to form a base to a decking extension.
Hammered into heavy clay soil to support other decking joists and worked a treat.
so easy to use
I used these metposts to put some posts in to hold some lattice to grow plants up. They were so easy to install. Many thanks
Great produc
Brother fitted this for me and it was surprisingly easy to use. Really good product for replacing a broken fence pos
so good and easy to use
I will buy these fixings when ever i need more, they are easy to install, and tough enough to stand the weather
a good all round buy!!
Easy to positio
Excellent product very easy to position job completed less than 15 minutes
Strong &good value
This was an excellent bargain. It is already in operation!
Awesome
Easy install, well made and sturdy, cheaper than a well known diy store and probably got it faster because their queues are way too long
Strongly made, easy to use.
I used this to hold a wooden post that I wanted to stand in rough, stony ground. It did the job admirably.
Not bad for a fiver!
Cheap and cheerful did the job and didn’t buckle when I drove it into some fairly compacted soil
Job done
It was exactly what I required to fix a Gate Post problem
Strong construction.
Will be used to support a fence. Job not done yet but have used similar before.
GALVANISED OR NOT ?
Amazon description says it’s galvanised steel. “From the manufacturer” and on the delivered item it just says powder-coated steel. There is a huge difference, as these things tend to rust away in a few years. If they are not galvanised then this is material (!) mis-representation.
Just the job
Just the job to repair my gate post and even avoided the need for me to buy a new post as I cut the rotten end off.
super fast delivery, done the job.
super fast delivery, done the job. good enough quality, for what i needed.
Saved a small fortune!
Fencing company wanted 800 to replace 5 posts. Our gardener installed these within 3 hours and charged his usual rate… We were all impressed how well they work.
Absolutely fine!
I don’t understand the negative comments this product has got.
Lord knows how some of the 1 and 2 star reviewers were attempting to install the spike, but worked absolutely perfectly for me.
This will definitely be secure enough for the foreseeable future, and will outlast the aged fence panels! Can’t fault the product.
Repair Spikes
I have used these in the past but, due to current weather conditions, not this “batch. They do what I need them for.
Very sturdy and saves digging out concrete
Used to replace a rotten wooden post that was cemented in.
The product survived being hammered in the ground and the post is very sturdy.
The ‘grippers’ made the post hard to install, I had to saw a few grooves in the post to take them.
Had 7 posts snap in recent gusty conditions, looked at various options to repair, fencing company wanted nearly 1000, so I bought 7 of these and thought give it a try, well all went very well as long as you start the spike off square to the post remaining in the ground I cut some spare post to act as my ‘basher’ you need to shave off about 1/2 inch on 2 sides so it fits snug but does not get stuck, then club hammer away 4 hours of hard work but all looks good again and our 2 large dogs are contained !
Strong and sturdy.
It does hat irs supposed to do, hold up a post.
An upright purchase
Used to repair an existing fence with the use of a new post. Easy to use.
Fence Repair and great for rose harbour holding down spikes drill hole for securing post to spike
Superb quality drain hole for wooden posts very good quality with regard to heavy duty these are not going to rust away in my life time delivery fast
Great company
Simple and quick.
Simple and quick to install, and does the job…in this case sorting out a wooden post that holds s tap which had rotted at ground level…meant I could reuse the post.
The picture made it look smaller than it was.
However as MetPosts are as rare as hens teeth these days this is a good replacement.
Not sure if it’s the same thickness as orhermakes, but it’s ok.
Just one pointer, i used a small plastic hammer tool.
I would suggest you get one of those black hammer tools with the two metal handles sticking out.
The reason is they are a larger fit and will make it far easier to bang the post in.
My tool was only half the size of the square and made it much more difficult to knock into the old hole.
We have used this to repair a previous corner repair spike that had sheared off due to a car reversing it to weakening it and then the big storms earlier this year.
After a bit of head scratching we’ve dug an inch trench around the two side of the old post.
Slid this new repair spike down the side of the old one, using the old one as support.
The used fencepost concrete mix to fill the gap.
Left it a week to go rock solid.
Today we have just knocked a new 6′ post into this repair spike.
Gave it good tug on all sides and it’s in solid.
No movement.
So far this has done everything it said on the tin.
It’s about to have the first fence panel attached and bobs your uncle.
I’ve given it five stars as it has done everything i wanted it to do.
So far i have no problems with.
This product is very good.
I used this product to repair my garden post it did the job beautifully !!!
Did the job with good grip on pos
Did the job with good grip on post, not the neatest looking. Welding was lumpy and metal seemed thinner than others I have used.
Fence post spike
Ordered and delivered within 48 hours. A great service , I would recommend. Thank you.
Spike uses
I am using the spikes to set in place short 600mm tall oak posts to which a wrought iron spiked chain will be attached to provide an attractive boundary to a cottage forecourt. My oak posts have been machined to be a good fit to the Fixman, and have been routed with slots so that the posts can be lifted out if required.
The Fixman spikes are clearly intended for soft wood posts and leave a little to quality control in maintaining a square profile. I have had to square up the Fixman aperture to more faithfully be square. Oak posts are not as forgiving as soft wood. Otherwise all good.
Brillia
Great device, saved a lot of work digging up concrete foundation.
Great spike
Worked as described. Fits between the old broken post and the concrete. Put in place, a piece of wood in the spike to knock the spike down and sledgehammered into place. Spike went in solidly and post then went in place and half job done in no time at all.

Simple to use. Fits against the old post remaining and new post fits on top. Just make sure it is kept straight.
Four Stars
A well made item but did not use in the end.
Like a get out of jail free card
I was a bit sceptic about these, but I must say they saved me a bucket of time with not having to dig out the old footings. Line then up, sledge them in, stick a post in and heypresto….!
These were brilliant for repairing some 70ft of fence which was downed by Doris.
Did it all myself, must have saved nearly 1500 for a professional to do it!
Good for rotten post replaceme
Used this for a rotten post in the garden. It worked well but you need to make sure of the angle whilst banging it in. Well after careful hammering it went in pretty damn straight and has been firmly in place for a month or 2. Great!
Used them to stake a wooden arch into the ground – didn’t want the clamp-type fence post supports, these look a lot neater, and the arch is fairly self-supporting so doesn’t need the extra depth of the usual fence post bases. Worked perfectly.
Five Stars
SIMPLEST WAY OF REPAIR I HAVE COME ACROSS HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Excellent produc
Excellent, we fixed our dogs pound fence with this and its made the fence solid very pleased

Enabled me to fix a gatepost with minimal work. Of a much higher quality than anything at a named store and for less money.
A time effort and moneysave
This is a really useful product. It allows the replacement of snapped fence posts without having to dig out the concrete base.
Worked well for me and also allowed me to cut off the rotted bit of fence post and reuse it. I shall by more as and when my fence posts give out.
which was fortunate for me as I needed one as soon as ...
Delivered promptly, exactly as described, which was fortunate for me as I needed one as soon as posible.
It has done the job that it was designed to do. It needs a little teasing to get it in place but with patience, you can get there. I will buy this product again should I so need to.
