I don’t use wifi or Bluetooth features but the camera provides good motion detection and image quality is very good. I also find that the battery life has been better than expected with standard alkaline batteries.
I had raccoons and skunks entering my walled yard. Since i am feeding stray kittens and mom I wanted to find out where they were getting in. After purchasing a tripod and moving the camera to different locations in front, side, and backyard for night viewing, i got great pictures that i could pull up on my phone and expand photo to get a better look. ( I returned a different model because it didn’t have phone viewing capacity and picture was small). Very happy with this product. Works very reliably. As photo reveals, do not place decorative ladders near wall (hello ).
Deer seem to be able to sense the cam in action but doesn’t seem to scare them off. Get a good number of close up head shots as they investigate this interesting appendage on the trunk of their favorite crabapple tree.
This camera works very good. Instructions are a little lacking, but if you have common sense, you can figure it out. Menus on camera and app are very easy to understand. I took over 1400 pics and it only filled up 1 percent of a 32gb card.
After owning 3 other brands of trail cameras previously, none of which work any longer, I decided to invest in one again. After reviewing several options I chose the Gardepro E6 for these reasons: tripod mount, 110 degree view angle, long recording time, ease of installing batteries, ease of setup and programming, app to control with smart phone. This camera is such an improvement over the ones I had before that it is a real pleasure to use. It is very easy to install batteries and the setup and programming is super easy and fast. It also is password protected, and even has a latch that can use a padlock for added security. I like it so much that I just ordered a second one.
I own 16 of these cameras. I have had no problems with these cameras and I’ve had my first ones for about 8 years now. They detect game from around 30 yds. on average. They will reach farther than that. I have had a mouse set them off a 20 yds. at night. I have recently started replacing the oldest ones with the new Wi-Fi cameras. They connect with blue tooth so you can view through your phone the final set up image point of view. An added bonus is when I’m on my deer stand and bored I can access the cameras that are within 30 yds. from me and see what is stored on that sd card. Let’s me know if I spooked something walking in.
I find these cameras clear, accurate, and dependable. It doesn’t hurt that they come in a 80 to 100 ft. detection radius.
Well I have two on our property and it’s a great way to see who or what is coming around. Time and date stamp helps. Quality of the pictures I really can’t complain even in night vision.
I liked the camera for all the neat features,
32MP, the Wi-Fi feature that lets me view the photos on the app on my phone. My previous trail camera I had to remove the memory card and run the through my card reader every time to view the photos.
Really think it’s a great camera easy to set up and operate, highly recommend.
Excellent trail camera. I live in an urban area and have bird feeders. Noticed activity that indicated a critter was present in the back yard at night. Set up this camera and voila’ there was mom raccoon with two youngsters, and also a possum from time to time. Photos are clear and detailed. This is exactly what I had hoped for. Very happy with it and highly recommend!
So easy to program an adult near 70 can program. Very good quality picture and yea video as well that you control the length of the clip. Night vision I hide in the dark an wait for you to make a move. I can program from my phone so I don’t have to crawl back I. The weeds a second time. All at a fairly competitive price. Conting with my phone with a great app is a deal maker. Thanks
I just purchased two cameras for the land I hunt deer on. These were so easy to setup via wifi to my phone. The battery compartment compared to three other cameras from a competitor is superior. I can’t wait to see the deer come in on the camera. Great product. I know I will really enjoy them. Highly likely to purchase more!
I wanted to see the wildlife that comes through our backyard, she has babies but the lens was misted over so the picture is blurry but I’m glad they feel safe to come up so close to the house. I will have to buy more to cover more area. Very easy to use. The app quality is not the best. A lot of the videos stop playing halfway through, might be my Wi-Fi.
We got this unit to figure out who had been raiding our bird feeder overnight (a rotating cast of characters, as it turned out!)… This model does not disappoint! The microphone quality is brilliant, you can hear foxes chewing. The camera takes gorgeous, balanced video by day and sharp, clear infrared by night. The batteries last for months in normal use, and wireless access/downloading is very easy. Great buy!
This thing is really fun. We use it to monitor wildlife on our property. It’s fun to sit with coffee in the morning and see what we caught. All from our couch. Unfortunately it didn’t do well in our latest California winter. We had a lot of heavy rains and the lenses ended up with moisture inside (see pics). I had to bring it in for a couple of weeks to dry it out. I have had it back online for a few months now and recently it stopped filming in color. It’s all black and white, kind of like it’s stuck in night vision mode. The only other complaint is the app. It often times looses it’s “mind” and will either play the same video no matter what you select,
or not play at all. A force close fixes it. For the price and what we use it for, it is great. I may buy it again and hope it lasts longer than a year this time.
This Gardepro E6 camera was not my first choice, however it has one big advantage over my original choice as it does actually work. although it too has some short comings.
The build quality seems fairly good with a sturdy waterproof case and a strong clip to keep it closed. Setting up was quite simple using the menu facility to make changes to the default settings. Although other people have had problems with the WiFi connection this was not the case with my unit and the range although limited is adequate for my purposes.
The daylight picture and video quality is very good for a camera in this price range, as for the night vision it is difficult to quantify at present as we are currently having heavy dews and the lens has been fogging up. It has however triggered at night showing foggy video of a hedgehog and a fox.
The big advantage of this camera over my original choice is the use of 940nm no glow Infra red LEDs and the fact there is no visual indication that the camera has been triggered. The original choice had 850 nm Lo glow LEDs and there was a flashing red LED during the time that the camera was operating after being triggered.
So what’s wrong with this camera, well not a lot if you get one that works correctly. The temperature recorded however on my videos is totally incorrect, I ask you, 19 C at 3 am in the morning in Cornwall in early April. The temperature was actually 7 C at that time. I find the microphone to be too sensitive as it overloads and distorts when a pigeon coo’s 3 or 4 feet away. A method of reducing the sensitivity in the menu would be useful. Finally, adding the date to the title of files saved on the cameras SD card would be a great asset. Files are saved in numerical order which is fine, however if you save these files to another device (a desktop PC in my case) and then delete the files from the SD card the numbering starts over again. If you then save the new files to the other device they have the same name as those already saved. The addition of the date to the file name on the SD card would overcome the issue in most cases.
The issues listed above limit the star rating to 4 rather than 5
The GardePro E6 Wildlife Camera is an excellent device for capturing high-quality photos and videos of wildlife in their natural habitats. With a 24MP camera and 1296P video resolution, it provides clear, detailed images and videos that are sure to impress even the most discerning wildlife enthusiast.
One of the standout features of the GardePro E6 is its 110 view angle, which allows you to capture a wider area than most other wildlife cameras on the market. This makes it easier to monitor larger areas and increases your chances of capturing elusive wildlife that may be difficult to spot with a narrower view angle.
The camera is also equipped with night vision, making it possible to capture footage even in complete darkness. This is an essential feature for anyone who wants to monitor wildlife activity during the night, and it works exceptionally well.
In addition to its impressive technical capabilities, the GardePro E6 is also incredibly user-friendly. It comes with WiFi connectivity, which makes it easy to connect to your smartphone or tablet and view your footage in real-time. The motion-activated feature is another useful feature, allowing you to conserve battery life and memory by only recording when there is movement.
Overall, the GardePro E6 Wildlife Camera is a fantastic investment for anyone who is serious about wildlife photography or monitoring. It’s packed with features that make it easy to use and provides high-quality images and videos that are sure to impress. Highly recommended!
Purchase this to monitor wildlife passing through our yard. It has been working well and I’ve been able to use the info to know when the coyotes are most active.
App installed on iPad with no trouble and it has worked with no problems for over a month now. Connection to the camera was pretty easy. You just have to add it as Bluetooth connection and the app connects to the cameras wi-fi to access the device. Directions were brief and to the point. Has all the features you could want and takes nice pics and movies. I guess the next step up would be a cellular connection camera.
Battery life seems ok. 5 weeks in the cold and it still has 32% left. The camera only operates sunset to sunrise but has taken lots of images.
I’m completely satisfied with this choice.
Bought to check on potential rat in back garden. The rat was duly photographed.
Reviewed plenty of cameras before purchasing this one. Always skeptical of what you’ll get but this turned out to be a great buy for something that had the basic features I needed.
A mallard hen made a nest in a bush out front and laid 6-7 eggs. I wanted our family to be able to monitor/watch her and see the ducklings hatch without disturbing them. This camera provided exactly what we needed.
Night vision is what I expected from a $70 camera. It can be blurry and depending on the distance from your target object, the motion detection might not always trigger appropriately . I set my camera up approximately 1.5ft from the nest and was able to see movement and clearly see objects/other animals. A cat came by every night searching the nest.
The fact that it takes 8 AA batteries isn’t great, but is expected. Depending on how much you’re recording and using the bluetooth/wifi option, the batteries will drain fast. If the camera is set in a place where it’s difficult to retrieve, this can be somewhat of a pain. It has a 12 volt jack available, but the package doesn’t come with the plug/cord for it, nor would it be very practical even if it did.
All the options take some getting used to and you’ll want to play around with it prior to deploying so you can get an idea of what settings will work best in your environment and application. For example, our camera was capable of being deployed very close to the nest so close up pictures/video could be taken, but this also means that the leaves close to the camera trigger the motion detection video when they blow in the wind….sucking up precious battery for nothing.
After going through a full set of batteries and filling up the SD card with a lot of “nothing” pictures and videos, I narrowed the settings for my application to the following: Motion detection, photo+video, record video for 15 seconds, with a 1 second delay before starting to record.
The on-device menu provides a suitable way to navigate and find what settings you need and the instructions that come in the box are in plain, proper English with screenshots where appropriate for app navigation.
The case is waterproof and the latch is solid. The antenna is screwed on, but is otherwise inflexible so be careful to put that on as the last step during deployment or it seems like it could break off easily.
Recommend getting the max size SD card (SDHC/SDXC) of 256Gig, especially if you are recording a lot and don’t have easy access to the camera. If you set it to over-write once full OR it fills up and stops recording, you might miss something you wish you hadn’t.
The wifi/bluetooth feature allows you to change the settings, view the recorded pictures/videos and see what the camera is seeing in real-time. The connection to the camera seems stable if you’re very close to the camera, but the entire process of connecting and viewing anything besides the settings is painfully slow. I mainly used the remote capabilities to see how full the SD card was and how low the batteries were getting. Trying to view any of the pictures was just easier if I pulled the SD card. Regardless of those downsides, being able to be “somewhat” remote and access the camera is very useful.
Well worth $70, but again was very specific to my use case of easy access and ~4 weeks of constant use in moderately warm weather. Would recommend this to anyone starting out or needing a camera for a small/short application.
Very professional camera, good resolution and battery life very good. Used it to identify a cat using the slate border. Soon found it was ours!
Easy to set up and the video and pictures are crystal clear, bought to capture the foxes and badger that have been frequenting our garden and so far it’s worked fantastically.
Bought as a present for the in-laws and it’s perfect. Everything works great and app it amazingly useful. Very easy to set up and get going
This was what I was looking for, Battery and plug in, and no WiFi needed.
Great product! Purchased three of these and they were easy to setup and get them up and running. Love the fact that you can set it up to capture, photos, videos or both.
So far love this unit, does exactly what I need works spot o
By far the best camera I have owned. Much better than a name brand the cost 3 times the price of this camera, would buy agai
What I liked: Fairly easy set-up, ease of menus, quality of photo’s both day and night
What I disliked: Wi-Fi range, even with that antenna is limited, SD card formatting issue I had, if you’re connected to it through the app, it kills the batteries, and figuring out what settings work best. Seems to be slow to process requests through the app.
I think my like list is pretty straight forward, so let me discuss my dislikes;
1) Wi-Fi range. Unless I am in a back room in the house, it won’t connect. When outside, I had to be fairly close (while in my vehicle), to check things. A bit more range would be nice.
2) SD card formatting. I figured I would use a card I already had laying around. I used the formatting function on the camera, but still it wouldn’t recognize it. They do note in the manual that even formatting it, if it was used for another digital camera/camcorder, there could be issues. So I ended up having to go out and buy a virgin SD card and format it, which now works. This shouldn’t have to be the case. It should work in this no matter where it was used before.
3) If you’re on the mobile app checking things, it sucks down the batteries. It especially sucks when you realize the settings you had, really produced a ton of pics… I’ll get to that next. Why? It takes time to sort through all them and delete them.
4) I had set it up with the PIR sensitivity set to high. I had set my photo burst to 5 pics. I came back a day and a half later and had 2,875 pictures… Whoops… Turned out, every time a leaf fell off that tree I had it strapped to and crossed the motion detector, whammo, 5 pics. This in addition to normal traffic through our alley all day… So setting it to medium and 1 pic saved a lot of pics being taken.
5) Using the mobile app to sift through all those 2,875 pics again, kills the battery, but it’s processing speed wastes valuable time and life on the batteries.
So that’s where we’re at.
I wanted to try to figure out where the skunks were nesting and set up a couple of camera traps, impressed by the ease of setup, motion detection, and picture quality versus price.
i used it for filming wildlife in garden, it was very easy to set up with a clear setup and playback scree
Let me start off by saying that the optics seem great (to my unsophisticated eye). I’ve only used it for nighttime captures of raccoons stealing bird food.
I bought a 128GB SD card for $22. For my needs, 128GB is way overkill. I haven’t even used 2% of the memory, but then again, I check the activity daily.
I bought a DC converter for $9 to power this camera. This has worked out well. Other reviewers had talked about this camera drains batteries very quickly, especially when using the infrared night vision.
There is no sense of a video zoom built into the camera — maybe more expensive cameras have this feature. The only zoom available is from a 3rd party App running on your device after a download of the video file.
The “WiFi” that comes with this camera can be confusing. The camera’s Wifi is *NOT* the same as the WiFi that is probably in your house — the 2 are very different, distinct and incompatible. In order to attach my Android phone to this “camera’s WiFi”, the automated process first disconnects your phone from the house’s WiFi and then connects your phone to the camera’s WiFi. Once connected, you can see the camera’s view, look at/change the camera’s setting and see all of the photos/videos stored on the camera. However, you can NOT use your house’s WiFi while connected to the camera’s, and vice-versa. Once you disconnect from the camera’s Wifi, my phone automatically re-connects to my house’s WiFi.
The App that you must download onto you phone is adequate, at best. Three things that could easily be improved are:
1) When the camera auto-plays videos, the order that you see them is latest-to-earliest, which is exactly the reverse order of when these video were taken (earliest-to-latest).
2) When downloading or viewing the videos, the camera pauses at various times to allow the download to “catch up”. There shouldn’t be pause during download because the camera should be idle.
3) It appears that the camera’s App significantly drains my phone’s battery, even after I disconnect the camera. The only solution for this is to manually stop the camera’s App that running on my phone.
There are time gaps of several seconds between where one video ends and the next one begins. I assume this has something to do with the camera writing the video to the memory card. I understand, but wold be great if this could be improved.
Averaging all of the above — 4 stars. Give it 5 stars for video and 3 stars for the App and confusing WiFi.
First time trying a wildlife cam. After reading reviews I decided on the E6 WiFi as wanted to be able to just use the phone to see videos and download etc. Set up was pretty straight forward and we were up and running in no time.
Captured some great shots of Mammy hog that’s living in our house we built and looking forward to seeing her babies soon.
I used Duracell batteries that cost 10 for 12 so not the really cheap ones. They only lasted 5 nights. We had been taking 30 sec videos with a 30 sec delay but as the mice were also out at the cat food all night long we were ending up with 100 plus clips per night so I’ve now dropped the clip length down to 15 secs to see how that goes. If it wasn’t for the mice it wouldn’t be so bad I guess.
Going to look at getting a power cable long enough to reach into the window as otherwise it’s going to cost a fortune in batteries. Other than that tho the camera and phone app is brilliant and has got us some great clips of the hedgehogs.
This camera is easy to set up and works really well. Great deal for the price
The picture is great, my only concern is that I cannot connect when I’m away.
I will look for a different area to place the camera (near wifi) and see if that works.
Still learning in how to use the camera!
Easy set up. On the trail within 30 minutes of arrival. Is doing everything i need. Which is monitor a small food plot and i can pull up, sit in my truck, and download photos without putting down unwanted scent.
Wanted a camera as a bit of fun to put in the garden around a pond. Been very happy with results
I have purchased 2 more of these cameras since I bought this one. I love them the pictures and videos are clear.
I totally love this cam !!! The wifi connect works over 75+ feet away and the pics are really clear. The battery life is fantastic also. I use it in my back yard to see all my critters who visit us in the night. I strongly recommend this trail can and the free software.
I was afraid this would hard to use, but set up was a breeze and it takes great photos. We have limited wildlife in our yard (squirrels) but we can see them at the squirrel feeder using this device.
I got this wildlife camera to aid the search for my indoor cat that escaped the house and got lost. I have it strapped to a tree in my front yard and I use it at night to take photos of the critters that come to partake of the kibble I leave out, hoping to one day catch a snap of my wayward furricane. It’s been in use for almost 3 months, through rain and wind and hot weather and it’s working great.
My observations are:
1) If you want to use it to take video, plan to have an external power source for it. I tried that on the batteries one night and it ran them down from nearly new to less than 30%, just taking 5 second videos. There aren’t any external access ports to the power. So you’d have to also plan to protect it from the weather.
2) The WiFi isn’t all that great. You really have to be about 5′ from it to get a good connection and the data transfer rate is slow. I use it only to check camera positioning if I’ve moved it. And it’s partly to avoid operational problems. I learned the hard way that I have to disconnect and kill the app on my iPad or the camera acts like it thinks I’m still there and no longer snaps pics all while eating up battery life if I’ve set my iPad down and let it go to sleep while connected.
3) In the limited way I use it, photos only, only overnight, avoiding connecting to WiFi unless necessary, and using a computer to read the SD card, I’ve only had to change the batteries once. I probably wouldn’t have needed to change them even that much if not for my experimentation with the video feature. I suppose that there is really only so much one can expect from a little battery operated camera. But it gets the job done and the pictures it takes are very clear and it’s pretty reliable.
Overall, I am happy with this camera for the price, and I plan on buying another one of these to put in the backyard also.
I love this camera and will be buying more in the near future. The sound is incredible. I can hear crickets, rain, birds, everything. The night videos are about as good as it gets, which is to say not great. I have 2 other cameras from other manufacturers and night vision is always a problem. The videos are low quality black and white. The daytime videos are terrific though.
Excellent trail camera with great features. Really love the ability to use their application to view photos without opening the camera up. Clear photos and good video.
I tried four different Wildlife Cameras from Amazon sellers. Most did not have good night vision and some failed to detect motion, even with my big butt walking by. The Gardepro E6 works great! It easy detects motion, has great day and night time picture quality and records every sound. Plus, the detection time can be set to only record night visitors or other time ranges! What a great feature! The pictures can be reviewed on my phone or tablet and downloaded over its WiFi. It takes a standard size memory card. I have a 32 GB card to catch all the action. This is the best Wildlife Camera ever!
I’m using this trail camera for a chicken cam . The picture is great and it straps easily to a tree I can see my hens anytime and check in on my girls.
Great picture and video quality. I would have given it a 5 but it doesnt have a “select all” option when deleting photos, you have to select each photo individually which takes too long when you have several hundred photos to delete.
I have found out my yard is a critter playground in the middle of the night. Several racoons, bunnies and possums have shown up on my camera. This camera is awesome, I am going to get one for the front of my house as well.
We get deer and other wildlife in our yard as a common occurance. But when we saw bobcats several times in one week, we decided to get a camera. This one fills the bill nicely. I read a detailed photographic review of this camera and have set it for just 2 mp photo quality and am very pleased with the results. It does get triggered easily by flying critters but it isn’t a problem. The remote connection works very reliably and the batteries have lasted a long time without degradation.
This requires the (in my case) iPhone app to use. The app uses the Bluetooth for the initial connection to your phone and then WiFi to connect, configure and control. After that set it up, turn it on, and wait. You can use this app to remotely view pics/videos on the user provided SD card storage or live video on the camera. The motion detection is excellent and the night vision videos are too. It does the job.
I purchased this camera with my own money. It was not given to me. I have had multiple trail cameras over the years I also purchased. Top name brands. Some i have left out in the woods in the South Carolina weather for many months. I compared this new Gardepro E6 to others and have to say I am impressed! Nice packaging, but as they say the proof is in the pudding…what’s inside…and the camera does work well. I had to play with the sensitivity settings a bit after catching the skunk you see in the 15 second video I included here. So now it catches animals on video faster. But still the video proved to me that it was a skunk that was killing our baby chickens. Another favorite feature that I use like about every day, is the wifi connectivity. I love being able to load the phone app and stand at some distance from the camera and still be able to view the videos and photos and control the camera via the app. That’s a game-changer for me, I can even view the camera contents via wifi through the walls of our metal shop if I stand just outside the doors. Nice job Gardepro!
This is a very nice camera to see what is going on in your garden. I bought it to keep an eye on the Hedgehogs. The only down side is the Hedgehogs only come out at night and then the pictures / video are in black and white. The day time pictures of the birds and my dog all come out nicely in colour. I bought this camera as it can be connected via Wi-Fi connection and set up are quite easy and I have not had connection problems note the connection is between your phone and the camera and NOT your home Wi-Fi so the distance between the camera and the phone can be a problem if there are too many walls between them. I do recommend this camera as a starting point but if I want to upgrade I might see if there are any that can take colour pictures in the dark.
I was having an issue with some critter under my Florida room. I needed to find out what it was prior to setting up a Hav-a-heart trap. At one point we had a skunk under there but he moved on when we had our in ground pool filled in. Was hoping another one did not move back in. Would not be nice to catch one in a live trap. Luckly it was a woodchuck.
Camera works great. Wi-fi is the way to go for me. Where it is placed it is not easy to get at to take a card out to check. The videos and photos are very good. I cannot comment on the range as I only have it about 5 feet from where it needs to be. Have had it up on monitor for a week now and the batteries are still at 98%. I would recommend this product.
I’m pretty happy with this camera so far. Price seemed reasonable for what you get. No issues setting it up. Got the lithium batteries like others recommended.
If I could change just a couple things it’d be perfect;
-Just a bit stronger Bluetooth so it would be easier to download pics/videos from the house.
-A sensitivity setting between medium and high. High captures way too much, but medium I’m missing motion sensor triggers.
Overall happy with my purchase and might buy another to cover more area.
I am 90 yo and pretty stupid with modern technology. So I was thrilled to bits to receive a device I could understand together with a comprehensive handbook in decent sized print..
Within an hour I had it completely set up, and when I plugged it into the TV my new pictures were immediately available.
Beyond my wildest dreams! Now to capture the huge fox I disturbed in the garden a couple of nights ago. Well done GardePro!
Have placed this camera in a difficult to access location.
Love that this camera is 100% controllable wirelessly from smartphone.
Can set all camera parameters, can review, download and manage (eg delete) captured photos and video, without having to physically access camera.
Fantastic that can set ‘hours of operation’. Using at night. Have set operation from 9P to 7A. Don’t have to review hours of cloud shadows during the day like on my old camera.
I used this camera a few nights to check to see what was eating flowers. Picture quality is decent and night vision works well. Motion detection works well picked up a raccoon walking by.
I purchased 3 of the E6 cameras and set them up over the weekend. Thanks to the outstanding users manual the process was simple and required minimal probing around in the menus. I connected via wifi as I set up the cameras so I could view what the camera could see and played fetch with my dog in the area in front of the camera to fine-tune the shot. I mount my camera’s on screw-type mounts with a lockable ball joint. After the initial setup, I returned over the following 2 days to verify that all was working. The setup, adjustment, and verification was all very easy to do and adaptable to your situation. It’s a joy to have a piece of equipment that is intuitive to use. Bravo! I was impressed! I can not comment on energy efficiency. of the camera
As a tip, keep in mind that at night the light source is from the front of the camera so the exposure will be impacted by any reflective surfaces near and facing the camera. This will result in a darker background. I had a nicely illuminated branch floating in a sea of darkness on my first try. Upon removal of the branch, all was well.
I wish it would have been more specific thar the SD card wasn’t included. I would have ordered one when I ordered the trail cam. Oh well. Live and learn.
I’ll review again after I gather the stuff I need.
I am a camera novice. That said, reading the directions, I set up this camera and got decent pictures of burrows in my yard to see what kind of animals were digging holes. They were Norway rats. However, I have had a hard time scrolling through the photos: there are hundreds overnight every few seconds and I can’t figure out which ones actually picked up motion. So I tediously look at every one until I find the activity and then make note of the time of activity. I’m sure I could do better with help.
The camera was ultra easy to setup. The menu was a snap to use. Just had to charge my batteries over night then put them in. I used the video setting but may use the video/pic setting later. Video is crystal clear, sound is great. The wifi works like a champ. It takes like 16 secs to connect and I never have to get off my 4 wheeler or climb a tree. I can easily download the videos I want to keep to my phone. This is a great trail camera.
Works very well and easy to use. Especially like syncing up to smartphone.
It seems to work quite well at night, capturing movements of animals as small as racoons, but not the occasional small bird flying by. Didn’t know there was so much activity in the night!
Decent option for the price. This is not a cellular camera, it is Bluetooth/Wi-Fi so you need to be close to it (~40 ft) to pair with it, but no extra cost/subscription. Good quality, price and performance.
After a couple of months of leaving it out where it could be rained on the Lens got misty and the memory card slot stopped working. The company graciously sent me another one. Keep it in a spot where rain doesn’t fall directly on i
So after I went through 16 AA batteries in a week, first 8 were rechargeable and second 8 were alkaline AA non rechargeable, Support responded to me and explained that at night rechargeable are not the best option for the camera as it requires much more power to record at night than daytime. Also we have iOS on most devices and they are working on issues that iPad and iPhone have with playback so its not your device it happens with Apple products. The company sent me a replacement camera within 48-72 hours and I bought lithium AA batteries and it too started to use battery life quickly. So I think if you just take pictures and not videos you will get much more battery life, video requires alot of power so what I did was purchase a 12 volt one amp out power adapter and also a 30 foot extension cable and plug it into outlet on outside of the home. This has alleviated all power issues I had with battery. If you can attach your camera with 30 foot cable adapter I recommend it strongly as now I can use 1080p video setting, record video for as long as I want and images at 24mp. Battery power has always been an issue in electronics from remotes for tv to cars. This camera is excellent if you have a constant power source, and I was pleased the company sent me a replacement camera to make things better. I cannot fault them that batteries drain when recording video as the quality of video is excellent, the audio is excellent as well. One thing that needs to be corrected is if you are looking at a live feed on ipad and you click on full screen there is no way to back out of the full screen mode to disconnect from the camera, I have found the only workaround this is to power off the tablet and back on and this brings you back to the correct screen. If you look at live feed it will show status, settings and gallery at bottom of screen, do not click full screen from here because you have to power off ipad to get disconnected from the camera at this point. Hopefully there is an update coming that corrects this issue. Format ting the SD card at beginning is put card into camera while power is off, turn on and click menu button until it scrolls down to format SD card option, once you see that click yes and it formats card quickly and you are done. I have a 128gb San Disk SDHC class 10 and it work great. You may not need 128gb as I don’t think I will have that much video recorded, its an immense amount of space. Most people probably would be fine with 32gb or 64gb. So in conclusion, battery use of this camera is not a viable option for me, and I don’t know if anyone has had great battery use with this camera but if you can run a power cord from outlet to camera this one is fantastic. I was frustrated at first and was going to send it back but for what I need, I can run power cord to camera inconspicuously and am satisfied with the result. I have minor issues connecting to live view of camera as long as I am within 50 feet of the camera. May not be perfect for everyone’s needs but I have made it work for my needs and am satisfied. I would recommend this camera as long as you can supply power source to the camera or you just want to take still photos because video uses alot of battery power.
I’ve owned 3 different trail cameras before this one, all died, and I was never sure if they were recording until after the event (often they werent). This is by far the easiest to set up and use of all of them, and the images are clear and the night time infra red is great very sensitive..picks up baby mice at night over 10 ft away. Bear in mind this one has a wide angle lens around 110/120 deg of view. One of the other Garde models has a narrower standard angle of view which would be great to have as well. I havent gotten around to using the wi fi yet.
For the 2mp camera and features this gets an A. Wifi really works only up to 50 ft and that’s disappointing but better than without it. If you can connect at all the downloads work. I found that an aluminum sheet in back of the antenna helps point the signal toward the house a bit. Once connected you can move farther away for downloading etc. Connecting is hardest. Wish it just used one or the other of Bluetooth or Wifi but it requires both. Inability to keep the time set if power is lost is a pain in 2022. But synch time button on status screen is a good feature. Overall it is a nice system and I love using a solar battery with it.
I’ve had multiple types of trail cams over the years to capture wildlife in the area but this was my first Bluetooth one. The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth has pros and cons but the bottom line is that I am happy I got it and wouldn’t go back to one without.
For a couple of days, we had continuous high winds and the cam didn’t take photos. I was actually glad about that but still concerned that there was a malfunction. Eventually, I reset it and reformatted the card which did the trick.
Note: I wish manufacturers would allow a setting to suspend photos and videos in high wind situations.
Very pleased with the cam on the quality of the photos and videos. Especially pleased with the audio.
R. Ross wrote a phenomenal (and much appreciated) review of this device. I agree completely – except for one point:
He/or/sh takes issue with the location to the 10/24 threaded receiver for camera mount, as it is on the “business” side of the clam-shell configured camera when opened (battery side on the “right”), and which means when opened,, when using the internal LCD screen, to aim the camera, one is unable to see exactly where it is aimed when later one closes it.
R. Ross also admits to preferring to use the onboard buttons for configuration, and eschewing the app for such. As it turns out, there are several set-up options available on each – but not both – sources.
USING THE APP:
This is phenomenal. One can set-up the camera using onboard buttons, then, mount and secure it, then connect (first via lbuetooth to wake it up then via wi-fi for full connection) to see, in real-time, what the cam is seeing. One can then adjust the camera to the precise viewing area one wishes to monitor. Really cool!
SETTING VIDEO MODE
Not available within the app, but accessible within the onboard buttons, one can select format for videos: MOV (better for Mac); or MP4 (more native for PCs)
OVERALL REVIEW AFTER FOUR WEEKS TESTING AT HOME (provisional)
I love this game cam. I bought it for the broad field of vision – 110 degrees. And am finding that the power draw is a s described by R. Ross, and that most factory settings meet my needs. I will be testing at my deer lease in a couple of weeks, and will update this afterwards.
The picture quality is amazing! I love the Bluetooth option … My problem is I have it set on high PIR and it’s taking WAY too many pics, but if I put on Medium, there’s hardly anything. Also, it takes NO pictures at night. None! I live in the woods … There’s ALWAYS something out there. I’m not so sure this is working the way I need it to and it was a lot of money for not working. Too bad because I was gonna buy more.
The first camera I got did not connect to the app so I reached out to customer support and after a few e-mails back and forth to each other they sent me a new camera within two days it arrived and the new one instantly connected to the app works good
This product does meet my expectations and so it IS worth the money I spent. It’s design and manufacture quality is not cheap. It works exactly as I had hoped when I tried it out, including synchronizing with the app. and or sd card. It suits my purposes and thus can recommend this product. The only criticism I have is that owners manual is written to excessive detail so that skipping large sections in order to ‘trim the fat’ is only rational.
Like the images. The app is a bit clunky. Works good for money.but I’m getting condensation inside the unit after 3 months outside without opening. Unimpressed with tha
This is my 3rd trail camera. The first 2 (different brands) were duds, one went to the trash and the other froze during setup and went back to Amazon heaven. This one is simple and intuitive to setup (you don’t need a manual). I loaded with AA Li batteries, added a 256 GB microSD card, a cable lock and a solar panel charger. I liked the wireless (via Bluetooth) connectivity until one morning in -16 wind chill I tried to download 495 photos & videos. I decided it was easier to unlock and pop the microSD card out and upload onto my desktop. I still use the WiFi connection to verify the position of the camera, monitor the status of the batteries/solar charger, date & time sync with my phone and change any operational parameters.
It has handled cold weather, snow and temp swings of 80 degrees. The infrared LEDs do NOT glow so the game are not posing (or running) due to camera operation.
This is a good camera. I hope to get many years of service from this unit.
I use this product to see who visits my backyard at night and when. The unit sits outside and I interrogate it from the comfort of the family room about 15 feet away. The connection occasionally fails first try but always it connects.
Don’t expect too much resolution from the fixed focus optical system, it isn’t as good as my APS-C camera or my phone, an iPhone X but it didn’t cost anywhere near as much. 4 MP seems to produce the same resolution as 24MP So that is a bit of a marketing gimmick.
It is good enough for the intended purpose. It is very sensitive to light and works well in the dark.
The unit is adequately robust and is left out in the elements. Occasionally snow has collected on the lens and ruined the evening shoot.
I don’t know anything about the battery system because I power it from a neat little 12v /110v converter.
I suspect that one reason that it is good value is that most of these trail cams have the same chip set in them, possibly made by Sunplus, so it is a bit of a waste of time doing intensive comparisons if deep inside they have common components.
Is the cell phone/WIFI feature worth it? I think so. The trade off is to spend a minute connecting to see what you have vs opening the box with the risk of dropping stuff in the mud or snow especially if you are using a micro chip and have gloves on. In my case using it in the yard it is a no brainer.
I would recommend this unit, but with all of them you need a little patience to get the best results
We started having minor issues with trespassers this summer. When Black Friday 2021 rolled around I decided to buy a bunch of budget cameras to test them out and keep the best six. I compared:
(3) GardePro E5 ($53.99)
(3) GardePro E5S ($57.99)
(1) GardePro E6 ($83.99)
(1) GardePro E8 ($97.99)
(2) Wosport G6oo ($41.99)
(1) Usogood WIFI trail camera 4K (Gifted to me, currently lists for $113.99)
(1) my one year old Victure ($84.22)
(Black Friday 2021 Prices except for the Victure, which was Black Friday of 2020)
So my winners and keepers in order are
1) GardePro E6
2) Gardepro E8
3) Wosport G6oo.
Everything else (Except the Victure) got sent back. That about sums it up, but if you want the details and why I made those choices then read on.
I initially set up a test in the forest behind my house and put all the cameras side by side on a board about four feet off the ground. I set it up so that I could walk into view at a right angle 90 feet away from the cameras then walk directly in towards the lens. I let the cameras run for 24 hours and made several trips down to the board midday, evening and in pitch black darkness.
For physical design the GardePro cams are all awful. The screen is on the inside lid behind the camera, so it’s only visible when you have the camera pointed in the wrong direction. Figuring out where to mount the camera so that it’s pointed at the precise right spot is a real chore. The battery compartment lid is crazy tight. I had to use a flat screwdriver to get to the batteries and for some reason none of my rechargeable batteries fit. Finally, the memory card slot pops out the bottom and it’s not always obvious when you have it “locked” in. I envision SD cards getting lost in leaves in my future. The E6 and E8 had some redeeming qualities though:
The Winner: GardePro E6: It worked perfectly right out of the box with very little configuration. The poor physical design is overridden by the WiFi feature, which allows me to get the cam pointed using the screen on my phone. I could review the images and videos on the cam without pulling the card so dropping it out the bottom is a smaller concern. The sensitivity isn’t perfect but it works better than anything else in the group I tested, except the slightly more expensive E8 (which behaved the same). The images and video were not as good as my phone. They aren’t even as good the phone I stopped using eight years ago. But compared to all the other cameras in the test they are exceptional. I was easily visible in the night time video at 90 feet, and could almost start to recognize myself at about 50 feet away. My face was easily recognizable when I got to somewhere between 25 and 20 feet from the camera at night. The photo I’ve included is of several deer in my front yard taken by the E6.
GardePro E8: This performed almost exactly as the E6. The only reason I put the E6 at the top of my list is that I don’t really see any extra value for the price. The E8 has side sensors which should help detect activity from something out of view and get the camera “turned on” so it’s ready to capture motion, but in my basic testing I didn’t see any superior triggering from the E8. The E8 also boasts a higher photo resolution, of 32MP vs 24MP, but the images I saw were about the same. Once you start zooming in both cameras get blurry. Again, these are budget cameras. I was more interested in video, and they both max out at 1296p. If I could get both cameras at Black Friday prices again I’d probably go with the E8, otherwise I just don’t see the extra $20 (current price) as making it worthwhile.
Wosport G6oo: Honestly, these were so cheap I bought them to use as decoys, so I was truly surprised at how great they are. These don’t have the invisible IR, so when they trigger you will see a red light. I intended to set these up as a deterrent with a second (and better) camera watching the same area but out of sight. Someone approaching the camera would hopefully see it and turn around, but if they decide to trespass anyway and steal one of these cameras to cover their tracks, I would get proof from the better hidden camera. I was really surprised at how good the sensitivity was right out of the box, the quality of the videos and audio, and how intelligently the physical case is put together. After sending back the E5 and E5S cameras, I decided to just mount these up out of reach with a ladder where a trespasser can’t get to them easily.
UsoGood: As far as usability and sensitivity goes this is a great camera. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the images or video. The images I got were all grainy both night and day, and had a serious fisheye distortion without adding any noticeable field of vision over the other cameras. I had put this on my wishlist after drooling over the feature list and the reviews, but as badly as I wanted to love this camera I had to send it back using the gift receipt. Hopefully my in-laws won’t be upset.
GardeE5 cameras: Great images for the price, but the sensitivity and audio was not good. They never stopped triggering. In 24 hours I ended up with 990 images on each camera. I retested these by putting the sensitivity down to medium, and then they wouldn’t trigger until I was within 25 feet. Another deal breaker was that the audio on all three was horribly muffled. If a trespasser is talking I want to be able to hear everything they are saying. If a deer suddenly turns to look somewhere I want to know what sound made it jumpy.
GardePro E5S cameras: Like the E5, great images for the price, but the sensitivity and audio was not good. They triggered nonstop and in 24 hours I ended up with 1391 images on each camera. I retested these by putting the sensitivity down to medium. They improved but I still ended up with about 20 pictures and videos of a dead still forest with no clue as to what triggered them. I think I could have gotten the sensitivity to work as needed but the biggest problem I ran into was that the audio on all three had a consistent clicking sound in addition to being muffled. I tried downloading the newest firmware but that didn’t seem to make any difference.
Victure: I don’t see these on Amazon anymore so it’s probably not worth mentioning, though these had rave reviews in 2020. The sensitivity on this is a little low but overall it works as expected, and I’ve gotten some great clear videos of deer and racoon. The biggest issue I have with my Victure is that the IR range at night seems to be weak. Any movement beyond 25 feet at night is so poorly lit that you can’t tell what you’re looking at. It’s the perfect camera for tracking Bigfoot, as you’ll get all the blurry ghostly night images you could hope for.
Meets expectations for the price, turn on delay time should be much shorter, WiFi reception sensitivity drops with time rapidly.
Very happy with purchase, takes great photos day or night. Good instructions.
Just delivered today. First day setting it up and I had to do it at night but the instruction manual was so very clear and easy to read and in proper English. Pairing to my phone was very easy as well. Picture quality on my phone looks amazing. I only have this in my backyard so I’m not like the people that have to have it way out in the country somewhere with respect to being able to see everything on the phone app, however, I am thoroughly impressed with what I’ve seen so far tonight on the app. I will update soon.
I bought this camera after returning a different brand in the same price range. I have to have WiFi to retrieve photos. This was very easy to set up and works exactly as it says it will. The daytime pictures are incredibly sharp. The night ones are less so which is to be expected. I can’t set up the camera as close to the bird feeders as I’d like so I feel I’m fortunate to get anything recognizable. I’ve only had the camera a few days but I’m really enjoying it. It’s wonderful to look at the photos in the comfort of my living room on my iPad!
We purchased a less expensive trailcam that had over 10k reviews on Amazon. It didn’t have remote connectivity, chewed through batteries in about 2 days and while it captured great movies, it never seemed to to go the length I had set (I set 3 mins and it would range from 5secs to 30 secs most of the time, even with new batteries). It also didn’t seem to have audio that worked. We sent it back and ordered this one.
The GardePro E6 exceeded expectations. Out of the box everything worked. We can easily connect via WIFI, view live, download to the phone. We bought it to watch a cat that comes to our backyard and discovered a whole other life out there like this little opossum (Its a screen grab from a movie so the quality is less than the camera quality). Honestly, I haven’t even set the camera on its highest settings for video and am really happy with the quality. The camera arrive about a week ago and I am still on the first set of batteries, so battery life seems good.
Overall for what we wanted out of it, we are really happy and would recommend to anyone.
Take that you darn raccoons! We now know how many of you are snacking on our chicken feed!
Was a good buy. It is in our yard so I wish it had ability to use our house wifi signal instead of cam wifi.
Love this trail cam! It takes amazing still shots as well as clear video clips. Setup for Bluetooth is a plus as you can download pics/videos without pulling the SD card as long as your within range. The ability to set the amount of still shots taken as well as the length of the video bursts. Battery life is excellent in using the lithium batteries suggested and highly recommended in my opinion.
Look no further if you’re in the market for a new trail cam.
Using currently to track feral wildlife.
The GardePro Mobile App provides an interface nearly identical to the one on the device itself. It is straightforwardly laid out and the options are clear and easy to change. It is easy to aim the camera and to download photos and videos from it. I appreciate the little touches such as being able to synchronize the time on the camera with the phone.
Wi- Fi/ Bluetooth works very well, was able to connect from about 100ft. away and app is very easy to navigate. Overall build quality is quality is good. Nighttime photos are lesser quality than I had hoped for in the original setup but daylight is pretty decent but not really 24 megapixals ( there’s a lot of buffering probably just a 3 or 4 megapixel sensor ) The Nighttime photos showed less than optimal performance from the sensors, the motion detection seemed to work as advertised, but the flash and camera focus didn’t sync very well. When testing after dark by walking behind and across the field at about a distance of 75 ft. the camera sensed my motion but the flash and focus were off. I appeared as a light blob ( ghost orb ) moving across until I had came within about 50ft of the camera, this most likely is due to the shorter working range of noglow flash. Overall though the camera is pretty decent for the money. Will be experimenting with different positioning to see if I can get results for night photos.
I purchased the GardePro E6 after purchasing a highly rated camera by Campark where I spent 2 horrible hours trying to get to work before I just repackaged it and sent it back. Maybe I got a defective one but did I mention the 2 hour head banging. SO I bought the GuardPro and so far it’s been easy to use and I’ve captured coyotes, and other cool wildlife videos. Super fun to share with family via texting. I consider it money well spent and recommend it.
This TrailCam is outstanding. It’s even better than expected with excellent video and photo quality and very nice design upgrades from earlier models. But the biggest surprise is the WiFi range. I can reliably connect at 85 feet! This means I don’t have to get anywhere near it to change settings or download pictures and the App has many very nice features like night vision previewing. I have mine connected to a WingHome Solar charger so the batteries should never give out.
I got one to use as a security camera at home. Very very clear picture and video. Extremely happy with it. The wifi actually does work through walls for me. I can change settings, view my yard and watch the wildlife run around. I picked up the usual critters, rabbit, raccoon, skunk, coyote, etc. Buying another for the other side of my house. Wide angle lens picks up a lot.
Awesome camera! Love that it has sound, especially since I have it installed next to our owl box. The range is incredible! The camera is about 60 or 70 yards from my back screened porch and I can connect
from there to view the videos, change settings, etc. I initially installed alkaline batteries, but they only lasted about 2 weeks. I have since switched to lithium batteries. They have been in about 2 weeks and are still showing 100%. I HIGHLY recommend this camera.
Update:. I bought an AC adapter so I don’t have to worry about batteries. The camera is about 200 feet from my house so I ran two 200ft. extension cords to the camera and put the adapter plug in a waterproof box. Works perfectly! Now I’m looking for a bird box camera to mount in the owl box.
I’ve tried 6 trail cams and this is the only one that connects the fastest and easiest with WiFi. It also allows me to stream the video and photos without having to wait to download them. I returned the rest because I spent a few minutes having to always get them to connect and disabling and reenabling wifi. This one also has the mount for tripods and DC input. It’s smaller and the WiFi Antenna gives it a longer range. Going to install it on my land next weekend and see how it performs.
My initial order was for a camera without the WiFi feature. Fortunately, that product was either unavailable or not delivered. I opted to cancel the order and stepped up to this camera with the WiFi feature. Set up was surprisingly simple and the WiFi feature allows viewing what has been recorded remotely (I would estimate that distance of 30 or so yards). The day I received this camera, I took it out to an area where I had seen a raccoon before. The next morning, I was shocked to see what the camera had to show. I provide only a still shot, as I was unable to upload the motion video due to the particular file format.
Problem is you have be within ; feet to set camera up camera n wi fi if past 30 feet the camera is not detect Take a good day or nite photo at 30 feet just doesn’t transmit as should, bought a WiFi booster hoping get signal from campers in backyard 80 ft away nope doesn’t trNsmi. Not internet friendly okay for photo taking about all for 100.00 can’t reccommend for anything but photos!
Two things make the GardePro E6 trail cam outstanding. The camera itself is high quality, easy to use, and takes excellent photos – and the customer service is the best of any business I’ve dealt with! I had a minor issue with the App on my iPhone. I contacted Zopudt using the contact form on their web site, and within 24 hours the team at Zopudt had it solved! I look forward to many years of worry-free use of my GardePro E6 trail cam!
Love it. We have a small creek behind our house and it is fun to see what I can get on camera. I usually have to walk on the deck of stand next to a window to connect but there are no annoying remotes to deal with and connection is straight forward. Wish it had a broader view but that’s is it! Considering buying another just for more fun!
This trail cam works great. Takes clear video at night and great video during the day. It has been out in the hot Florida sun and driving Florida rain. My only issue is it uses a lot of battery, especially viewing on WiFi. Speaking of WiFi, it has incredible range.
The camera works great. Easy to setup and operate. An additional consideration was the ability to manage it with my phone. The app is intuitive and works well. The biggest advantage is the exceptional customer service. I had initial connectivity issues with the app. The 24hr customer service is real and responsive. Tao and the team reviewed error logs and provided app updates quickly. Based on service alone, be buying more cameras for my property.
