Good strong bird feeders that seem to bd pretty much starling as well as squirrel proof.
I bought this as had a problem with a flock of ASBO starlings decimating the feeder within minutes of filling it. Some of the younger, slender Starlings cab still reach through it has made it a lot more difficult so they are stealing less.
Easy to fill and clean. Very happy with purchase.

Love it, just love it. Starlings and Squirrels have no chance and the small garden birds get all the seeds.
    Quality build, quality product.
August 2020 and the lots of young newly hatched Gold Finches and various tits have now been using it to, watched by their parents and us. #Bargai

We invested in this item in order to stop the squirrels pinching all our bird food. We found it worked well, and were delighted to see how the two young squirrels returned to their dray, with very disappointed expressions. Then we softened and put out some peanuts especially for them. Meanwhile the birds loved the new feeder , no problem with the perches as other purchasers have mentioned. The birds were in straightaway, and demolished the sunflower seeds in record time! All in all a very good purchase. However we did find the lid just a bit tricky, occasionally causing a collapse of the whole thing from its hook. It seems just a bit too easy for the lid to come off, and the metal rim screws the other way, which is difficult to align sometimes.

This is a good design for smaller birds , I already had a similar peanut feeder and liked it so decided to buy this one for seeds. We don’t have squirrels in our area but this is great if you want to encourage small birds and keep the larger ones from stealing all the goodies.Easy to dismantle for cleaning too.

Has managed to stop squirrels and determined crows getting the bird seed. Good quality build and very easy to top up. My cunning use of a keyring splitring stops the crows from lifting the feeder up and dropping it on the ground. Ha ha ha.

    Good Quality

Bit overpriced but the quality is good and seems sturdy too. Squirrels have chewed our regular seed dispensers so we wanted a deterrent and got it. Smaller birds are getting used to it and the seed is kept dry and with it having 4 perches, all the new fledglings can go in too. Worth the wait for the stock.

This review is for the Gardman heavy duty squirrel proof seed bird feeder. No squirrels in our garden but we have been plagued by flocks of starlings, which descended on the feeders and cleared all the feed in half an hour. So no garden birds as there was never anything left. This feeder is well constructed, sturdy and easy to clean. It has a large canopy top which keeps the seed dry even in wet weather. Best of all the protective cage has such a large diameter that the starlings cannot reach the food however hard they try to stretch and strain through the bars. After a while they just give up and fly away to rob a feeder elsewhere. The garden birds are small enough to hop straight through.

Looks good in the garden. And with 4 opportunities for birds to feed it’s a great bird feeder.
I wish I could afford to have a garden full of these.

This is a really well made, heavy duty bird feeder. With previous feeders we were getting inundated with starlings, even with feeders that were supposed to keep such birds off. This new feeder has definitely done the trick and the little birds were on it literally within minutes of us putting the feeder up. It also takes two cupfulls of feed at a time, so there’s no need to top the feeder up during the day.

Sturdy product, birds love it, luckily the squirrels can’t get to the seeds – star lost due to the loose lid; we have had to put extra wire round it to stop those clever creatures opening it up!

  11. Anonymous says:

Squirrels have made several attempts to get at the contents and have failed every time. The bird feeder withstands their teeth, as well as their intelligence. I had concerns that the locking mechanism for the lid was not strong enough to keep the squirrels out, but it must be good enough, three months on and it hasn’t failed. The design to break the feeder down to clean, is the best I have found so far. Very simple and no tools required! The feeder is a good size, larger than a standard feeder, which means that I do not have to fill it more than once a day.

This substantially made bird feeder is the first I have experienced that comes apart easily making cleaning thorough, and is equally easy to reassemble. Also, the substantial cover helps to avoid rain saturation, largely preventing the clogging of the seed which assists the easy flow of the food as it is consumed.

I bought this as my previous feeders were being depleted by magpies and parakeets, which were preventing tits and other smaller birds getting a look in. The cage on this feeder is sufficiently wide to prevent the larger birds reaching the seeds and they have now lost interest.

It’s well made, sturdy and whilst not a thing of beauty, does the job. And the little birds seem delighted.

Keeps the starlings away and lets the small birds feed in peace. The only problem is that I think my robins must be to fat as it’s full of mealworms and that is one of their favourites.

  15. Anonymous says:

I bought this as yet another attempt to stop parakeets taking over my garden but they managed within 5 minutes to work out that if directly in front of the seed tray they could stretch their necks through the cage and reach the seeds. I have now put a line of plastic garden wire diagonally across the gaps in the cage around each of the gaps closest to the four seed trays and that seems to have stopped the parakeets for now. It also confuses some of the smaller birds but not all and many are working out how to enter and leave through the rest of the cage. The squirrels have not yet had a go at getting the seeds but I think the wire should deter them as well.

Does not stop parakeets unless worked o

The Gardman Bird feeder has proved to be an excellent purchase. It deterred squirrels. The cover proved very useful for keeping the seeds dry. The feeder encouraged the small birds to feed in the worst of weather conditions. It was easy to refill. Overall it has proved to be a superb produc

We wanted a solid product which would both defeat and annoy the clever squirrels we have in our garden. It took the birds a while to get used to it, but all ok now and the squirrels are confused! Thank you, defeating these guys is not easy!

I have previously bought cheap feeders for my sunflower hearts but they have been difficult to clean and destroyed in the end by squirrels. The squirrel had a half hearted attempt at sunflower theft from this but didn’t hand around and went back to other more squirrel friendly feeders I have left around to allow the birds a look in!
These are very easy to clean and appear well designed and sturdy. My brother recommended them to me as he has Olympic squirrels and he won’t buy anything else!!

I bought this to deter the many starlings that descend upon our garden and chase the smaller birds away and it works. They have given up. The cage, as I call it, is wide enough that the starlings cannot get their beaks in to reach the food. Only the little birds can get in. I have just ordered the fat ball version of this as I bought a cheaper version for the fat balls, but the cage is not as wide, so the starlings were able to reach the balls. You get what you pay for. I also ordered this on a Wednesday and it arrived on the Friday morning of the same week.

This is the 2nd one of these I’ve bought. And if I had really read the instructions on how to clean then I am sure the first one would have lasted longer than 5+ years. Did what we wanted, kept out squirrels and jackdaws but let in the small birds. The bits they drop bring in ground feeders which is a bonus.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a really well made and finished product. But it has not been thought out well enough to be 5 stars. The problem is, as built, it is not squirrel proof, which is supposed to be it’s unique selling point. However, I wouldn’t let this put you off if considering buying. As built it takes a squirrel about 10 seconds to discover how to open the simple and slack half centimetre twist lid. The solution I have used is to loop a piece of sturdy garden wire over the lid, it is twisted once round the lid handle and though the top of the cage and secured with ends twisted together. It may sound a little complicated but only takes me a few seconds to remove the lid for refilling seed and has most definitely foxed the squirrels. I would think the manufacturer could resolve this fault very quickly, but even as it is I would recommend to anybody , I may just get another myself !

Having been plagued by squirrels that clearly saw the old birdfeeders as a ready source of breakfast, lunch & tea I turned, too belatedly, to these feeders. They defeated the enemy at the first stroke – the creatures could find no way into the feed and very quickly took their interests elsewhere. The feeders are well designed, quite robust and take apart easily for cleaning. The birds are very happy to use them so a good result all around. Although a little pricey these feeders are well worth the cost. They’ll soon pay for themselves in the volume of seed saved from plundering.

  28. Anonymous says:

This certainly keeps the squirrels out whilst the songbirds are happy to hop through to the sunflower seeds we have in it. It is very strong and should prove to be longlasting. My only criticism is that it could be bigger, we’re refilling it every day!

  29. ultracassie says:

     United Kingdom

A very well thought out feeder, metal fittings where they need to be and everything is a twist lock mechanism so incredibly easy to fully take apart to clean. It is a fair bit bigger than other feeders in diameter so the squirrels cannot gnaw at the openings to get to the food. The cage bars maybe a MM too wide as I have seen a few times squirrel after some effort squeeze through though they are pretty much trapped inside and find it equally hard to get out when you then approach them. It is a great size, very well built but not 100%, but a good deterrent and the bigger ones cannot get in, much better than the the cheaper caged ones ones, but I have continued in my quest to find a squirrel proof feeder.

Bought two of these, one for seeds and the other for fat balls. Magpies and squirrels would empty my older feeders, which were the same design but smaller, within a day. Still half full after 2 weeks and only the smaller birds attempt to go anywhere near them now.

It’s a bird feeder, NOT a squirrel feeder. Saw a couple of squirrels trying their luck when we first installed it but they soon gave up. I’ve knocked a a couple of stars off for ease of cleaning, because it isn’t easy. It needs to be completely dismantled to get to the plastic food holder and clean it properly. As you all know, bird feed can easily get water logged and mouldy so regular cleaning is essential. Apart from that it does exactly what it says – keeps squirrels out.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI love watching the birds in the garden so i have a variety of feeders and other stuff hanging in the tree to help them out(as seen in the image). But i’m always having a problem with the VERY greedy Starlings that turn up and devour ALL the mealworm’s that i used to have in a dedicated mealworm feeder(top right in the image, there are suet pellets in that one now!). So i thought enough is enough and went on the hunt for a feeder with a cage and this is the one i went for!.

FANTASTIC. Its ideal for mealworms, the larger feeding holes above the double perches are great for the birds to see the worms and get them. The top is easy to open, with a small wiggle and turn(cant understand why others have a problem with it ?). And more importantly the cage around the feeder works GREAT at stopping the Starlings from getting at the worms!.

After putting it up the Blue Tits, Great Tits, Finches came to investigate and took to it right away, taking a worm at a time to eat in the tree elsewhere. Then the gutsy Starlings turned up, landed on it, had a look all the way round then gave up and flew away RESULT, ha i have won the battle!

So if you have a Starling problem with then eating EVERYTHING within minutes, then this is the feeder to get!

A easy 5 STARS from me, VERY happy!

ps. As you can see in the images the Starlings can eat other items that are not caged so they CAN get food, they are not going hungry!

Those pesky Starlings cant get the mealworm's now!

Well made and the outer protective cage prevents jackdaws from hogging all the food (the latter can still feed from the seeds dropped by the small birds and do). Don’t often have squirrels so don’t know if the lid, which fits neatly, is squirrel-proof, but overall an excellent product.

I bought this to aid in our battle against starlings – poor things, they are fabulous in their murmerations but we just can’t feed all of them plus our little birdies, too! So far this is working nicely. I also like that it is easy to fill – although washing the feed tube is a little tricky but not too awkward. I would definitely recommend this product and will be ordering another.

I like the fact that it stops the larger birds getting to the food as they emptied the old bird feeder within hours! The smaller birds avoided the new feeder for days and are just realising that they can go through the metal mesh to get the food. Very well made, easy to clean and re-fill.

    Sturdy bird feeder.

This is the 2nd we have ordered. We have always had problems feeding the smaller birds in our garden as the bigger birds – eg pigeons and crows – always come and take all the seeds within hours of them being put out. I saw one of these feeders at a friends house and thought it was a great idea. The birds take quite a few days before they work out how to get to the food but once they do there are often more than one of them in there feeding at any time. A good thing is that the bigger birds tend to gather around on the ground beneath the feeder picking up all the seeds which the birds have dropped through the holes – none of them have worked out how to get to the food – so all of them win. The photo I have included isn’t the best as it’s through a window but it shows a bird in the feeder and at the bottom one of the pigeons happily cleaning up underneath. Definitely would recommend this feeder.

Purchased to stop the Parakeets from pinching all the food and bullying the smaller birds.

Agree with other reviewers that the lid does come off rather easily when in use, but have managed to secure it. The squirrels haven’t managed to get into it. Also attached a small chain to the lid to stop myself from dropping it. (second floor of flats)

Use Sunflower Hearts in the feeder and the small birds were in it as soon as I closed the back door. Cant believe how quickly it empties.

    Would definitely purchase again.

But, i love all the birds that visit my garden. I only wish i could afford to refill the feeders every day, but at least with this feeder the small birds actually get a look in now. Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis is a very well made product and a great design, however it’s been hanging around for a couple of months now and no birds have used it? Maybe they don’t want the mealworms that’s in it which of course was the reason for buying it to keep the starlings from eating the lot in an hour of filling the feeders. So it looks as though I’m going to have to empty it for the bigger birds to eat the contents and fill it with sunflower hearts instead and see if the little birds will use it then.

I bought this feeder to thwart the Starlings, who come in mob handed and demolish the food in record time and keep the small birds at bay. This really is a heavy duty bit of kit and works a treat. I particularly like the fact that it enables the seed to stay dry and holds enough seed for 2/3 days. 5*

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis seed bird feeder is very robust and the squirrels cannot damage the “cage” part of the feeder. However, the squirrels are stronger and cleverer than you would imagine as they can get the top (lid) off and so, of course, they can then eat up the seeds. I think the lid should be made more difficult to open i.e. with a screw type lid, rather than a bayonet-type lid.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis feeder is such a hit with the small garden birds that I am now the proud owner of 2 of these feeders. The feeder is pigeon-proof, squirrel-proof, but not entirely parakeet-proof. (You might consider blocking the grid directly in front of the feeding hole to defeat parakeets.)
The lid is easy to open and close, and remains closed when hanging from a feeder, but it will spill open if it hits the ground.
I wish Garden made a longer/bigger version of this design.

One word of warning If you don’t put food on the ground the squirrels will climb up take off the lidand the one that is attached to and mounouver the container onto the ground so that the food falls out and they can eat it. However those pesky magpies got their beaks in through the gaps.
So I blocked the metal grid in front of the four feed openings, by adding some additional wire in a criss cross patterns (very creative)
and it seems to have done the trick, the birds can fly in and out around the new wiring and the bird food is lasting a lot
longer, saving me a fortune. Think I should patent my new design!

Almost 100% squirrel proof, and I get hordes of squirrels so it’s been thoroughly tested! When I first put it up, one rodent equivalent of Einstein managed to unscrew the lid and get inside, but it hasn’t happened since so I guess he must have moved on to better things. One criticism – the plastic tube seed carrier is firmly attached to the wire cage and unremovable, so quite difficult to clean.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the heavy duty squirrel proof seed feeder I am reviewing. First like other squirrel proof feeders we have tried the squirrels can get inside them. They almost trap themselves in fact because when I go to chase them off they struggle to extricate themselves. Also they are persistent enough to remove the heavy duty lid which I have only solved by wiring the lid down with gardening wire.

We must have particularly aggressive and hungry squirrels because we have not yet found a feeder that is robust enough to deter them.

We’ve reached a point where if the feeder lasts a year without having the perches knawed off we consider it a success and this one is approaching a year of use and is still all there and useable.

Good quality bird feeder. Bought to replace a cheaper version. The difference in build quality and design more than make up for the price difference. This is solid and more weather resistant, keeping the seed dryer for longer. I will be buying another to replace a second (cheaper) feeder when that also fails. Ideal for black sunflower seeds and sunflower hearts.

Good at keeping squirrels and bigger birds away from the food. The bigger birds have to wait for the smaller birds to drop bits to the ground. Some big birds with long necks can reach the seeds. Reasonably easy to take apart to clean.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAlthough it good at keeping the squirrels out of the feeder it is no good hanging it from a
“tree” feeder or anything similar. The squirrels found that they could not bite through the
metal lid, perfect, but instead the rotten little bs put both front feet on the feeder, swung
on it until the food dropped out of the holes onto the floor. So it must be put somewhere
    where this can not happen.

I would welcome suggestions on just where you could place this feeder as it appears no
matter what type I buy the squirrels seem to get at them, bearing in mind that squirrels
can jump great lengths and from heights to steal bird food. I do not want to feed or kill the
squirrels but it is getting far beyond a joke now especially as they visit our garden at least
6 times daily, and not as the books say 1 hour after dawn and 1 hour before sunset. Also
they do not care what they eat whether it is seed, peanuts or pellets etc., name it and they
will do their damness at getting into the feeders and scaring hell out of the poor birds.

Basically very good, but not squirrel proof. Our squirrels used to just take of the lid and help themselves. I have made it actually squirrel proof by constructing a metal plug for the top. It is made out of a small can, lead filled and fitted with a metal knob to lift it out for refilling. We use this model for both peanuts and seed. The one designed for peanuts make it excruciating difficult for birds to get a nut. This model allows them to take a whole nut. The birds get through a lot of nuts, but that’s part of the joy of watching them.

A previous purchase lasted four days before the squirrels had broken it, whereas this works well. Birds taking time to get used to it but very good value for money. No parakeets yet, either…..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have bought cheap versions of this feeder and they are rubbish in comparison. The Gardman feeder is excellent in every way, strong, well made and easy to dismantle and clean. The cheap versions let the seed get wet and rot, very difficult to get rid of the gunk that accumulates at the bottom and seed is wasted. The Gardman feeder is everything I was looking for, it is well worth the extra price. Very pleased.

Well made and I particularly like the extra wide cage to prevent squirrels reaching the tube feeder. A previous model we had although it was supposed to be squirrel proof they could still push their heads through the bars and bite through the plastic feeder ports. The feeder ports and perches on this model are metal so they should do a better job at stopping squirrels even if they managed to push their heads through that far which I think is unlikely. Nice big lockable top for filling the feeder tube and helping with the weather proofing.

A very nice bird feeder has kept the squirrels at bay, but unfortunately I cannot give it 5 stars because only a couple of weeks after hanging it up it has started rusting. Not something you would expect to happen on something of this price.

It is what it is! Strongly made, easy lid to twist on and off to refill. Not sure I can ever ‘love’ a seed feeder 🙂

I love this Gardman product. I also have matching fat ball feeder . These are quite heavy so can’t be dislodged by squirrels. Birds find it easy to get in the slots and sit on the little perches. It has completely stopped Starlings and Squirrels from getting in also any bgger birds. Its blends in discretely with the garden. I would recommend this product.

I love this product. Bought one as a gift for my Dad and liked it so much bought one for our garden. It really is squirrel proof. Birds are able to access the feed easily and the size of the opening prevents pigeons and squirrels for getting to the food. It looks stylish and is robust in structure.

I can’t recommend The Guardman Heavy Duty Squirrel Proof Feeder enough. Initially the birds were a bit nervous of it, I thought the gaps in the cage were maybe a bit too small, but within a couple of weeks, I have about 20 small birds using it regularly so don’t give up on it too quickly. I would suggest also attaching a seed tray at the bottom to catch any seeds that fall out as the birds are pecking away, they are messy eaters! I’ve read a few reviews saying the seeds just fall out as you try to fill it, but I haven’t had this issue at all.

This is excellent quality. One of the ,most robust bird feeders we have purchased over the years. Also helps to protect the small birds from a sparrow hawk that visits now and again.

Golden Review Award: 71 From Our UsersHaving tried a number of supposed squirrel proof bird feeders and watched the squirrels find a way of breaking into them with military precision, we found these and thought that we would give one a try. It was a revelation! Not only are the squirrels completely at a loss with regard to breaking in, they are brilliant for keeping out the larger birds too! We bought one to put sunflower hearts in but we were so pleased with it that we decided to buy a second one for mealworms as we could not find a mealworms feeder that could stop the local pigeons and magpies from pigging out at our expense and, of course, frightening away the smaller birds that we were trying to attract. It worked perfectly! Additionally, the feeder is very well constructed, easy to fill and to keep clean, can be used by up to four bids at a time and the food stays dry inside – so no more rotten, stuck on mess to clear from the bottom.

I think it’s beaten the squirrels although once or twice the tube of seeds has been emptied suspiciously quickly. I suspect the squirrels simply shake the whole cage such that the seeds fall through the bottom on to the ground. Possibly some form of flooring to the bottom of the cage might overcome this. Nevertheless I’m happy with the purchase.

Having tried so many ‘squirrel proof’ feeders that were not, it is great that, after 3 weeks use this feeder is so far squirrel proof and jackdaw proof. Time will tell, but good up to now. Birds were a bit wary of it at first, I think mainly due to the metal top, but used to it now and feed freely.

I have used this with sunflower hearts very successfully to attract goldfinches, blue tits and sparrows.

With other seed feeders I was also attracting pigeons which I didn’t want and this feeder solved that problem, while the small birds were very happy with it.

But it’s a complicated world and now in the summer the spillage is attracting mice and rats so I will pack it up now until winter.

Golden Review Award: 111 From Our UsersI purchased two of these. They have been hanging in my back garden for two weeks, today. If you want to give the impression that you care about feeding
the small birds—– then these are the feeders to purchase. They are very cheap to maintain. Once you fill them—you will never have to fill them again. They are pigeon and squirrel proof but they are also small bird proof. We have Robins, Sparrows, Blue Tits and Starlings. Not one of these birds will come near the feeders. I even went as far as to cut out two squares of the wire cage and the small birds still won’t come near the feeders. I believe they may fear that the feeders are some sort of trap. UPDATE: After nearly four weeks the little guys have—finally—started using the feeders. They have been at it for the past three days. Tomorrow I will have to refill the feeders.

A very good feeder – easy to fill but not entirely squirrel proof. My squirrel untwisted the lid, threw it on the ground and then lowered itself down into the tube to gorge on the sunflower hearts.
The addition of a heavy duty bungee cord over the lid seems to have sorted the problem.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSeems better made than some I’ve seen. Certainly the bars being further away from the feeder has stopped the starlings raiding and trashing the mealworms, as they did with another make.

Just need to see whether the tits and finches will go through the cage to use it with mealworm?

I love it and squirrels hate it!!! Combined with lots of vaseline on the feeder pole it is highly entertaining watching the evil furry critters expend a lot of energy for absolutely no gain. All different types of smaller bird immediately took to it the only thing I will say is I had to wire the hanging hook to the feeder pole as the Carrion Crows worked out how to lift it off over the end of the feeder pole hook! A quick fix and even the Crows have given up.
    Would definately recommend i

This is the best bird feeder ever in preventing those scheming squirrels from raiding its contents and making sure all our little feathered friends have their bird seed feeds uninterrupted!
I have this on the bird feeding station along with the squirrel puzzler plastic dome fitted (and the pole smeared in Vaseline) its fun to watch the local squirrels fail dismally on their attempted food raids!
Our resident robin, visiting finches, house sparrows all very grateful for this squirrel proof bird feeder!

FINALLY!!!! Beat the pesky squirrel and his/her cohorts! To get into this one, they’ll have to bring wire/bolt cutters with them. It has been a running battle with the little blighters all through the Winter, as they ripped, bit, and generally vandalised every other feeder we bought. This one is their nemesis. HA! Beat this one, you pesky critters!!

Sturdy seed feeder….large and well made this seed feeder should last for many years. The holes in the mesh are certainly narrow enough to keep squirrels out, it took the smaller birds a while to make the change from our old feeder which the birds could easily poke their heads through and feed. This feeder makes them have to get right in and sit there feeding…which they seem to enjoy doing. Larger birds like woodpeckers can also use this feeder, they can just about reach in, but at maximum stretch. The smaller birds seem to relax in this feeder, in our old one they took a seed and flew off to eat it, on this one though they sit there eating. We’re very happy with it.

The quality of these feeders are excellent but as of yet the birds will not even attempt to go through the cage to get to the food, it’s early days given time, and if they’re hungry enough, I’m hoping the birds will make the effort.

This is fabulous, there’s a constant queue of little birds trying to get in all day long, i think because the holes are quite big they can fit right inside. I think i’m the local garden centre’s best customer for bird seed.
So far no squirrels, magpies or crows have gotten in. The starlings havent found it yet, when they do they may be able to get inside the cage, we will see.

I took advice from another reviewer and bent a coat hanger across the top to prevent squirrels from dislodging the top lid. I had had a very determined squirrel that had defeated me over a different bird feeder, but as soon as this feeder went up it was as if the squirrel already knew it wouldn’t be able to get in, as I barely saw the squirrel from that point on.

I’m very pleased with this feeder. It’s quite strong and holds a fair amount of food. I did put an extra 2 screws through the top though as I thought without the squirrels may soon learn how to twist it apart. Since putting a squirrel feeder up they haven’t bothered with the bird feeders so haven’t had to test my theory. The added bonus of this feeder is that it’s stopped the blackbirds and starlings emptying the feeders in minutes.

I was so pleased when this arrived and I found it to be larger and far better constructed than I’d thought. I’ve seen feeders this size for sale at twice the price. It is big enough for the little birds to get inside to feed, the gap between the outer cage and the food prevents squirrels sticking their sharp little noses in between the bars and hovering out the sunflower seeds, as they did with my last ‘squirrel-proof’ feeder. it looks easy to clean as well.

I didn’t have any luck with alot of bird feeders, but this is the first one that has worked for me. It takes a while for the birds to get used to going inside the cage, but once they’ve worked things out this feeder is really good. Only problem is that it can be seriously fiddly to open from the top. This bit could have been designed better.

eally good my only down side for me was when a squirrel launched its self at it and in doing so made the feeder fall not to high up but it did brake the little latch on the lid still in working order and haven’t seen the squirrel try that agai

This feeder has saved me a fortune in bird food! I don’t have a squirrel problem, but did have a pesky starling who would come along and empty my feeder in about 10 minutes, scattering food all over the ground which would then get wet and rot before it could all be eaten. Now, my garden is teeming with songbirds and the feeder only needs filling every couple of days. The starlings and blackbirds help the little birds clear up any food that falls on the ground, so no more waste. Win – Win!

It works! I’ve been using it for one month and for the time being the squirrels have given up. I also put vaseline on the pole to stop them climbing up to get to the feeder. I am sure that they are plotting a counter attack and meanwhile to punish me the squirrels have taken to digging up and eating the crocus bulbs that my wife planted in the lawn in the autumn.

So far this does seem to have defeated the squirrels. Initially, one or two birds came to the feeder as soon as it was set up. Then it was totally ignored by birds and squirrels. Now one or two birds are giving it another try. I think it will work out once they get used to it. On the plus side, the squirrels won’t be able to pee in this feeder – they would cling on to the old one, munching away at the seeds at the top of the feeder, and peeing on the seeds at the bottom. Nobody wanted to eat those seeds after that, not even squirrels so they would have to get thrown away, the feeder cleaned and fresh seeds put in it. This should pay for itself in time!

A fantastic product that really really works!

We had a real problem with Jackdaws and squirrels, terrorising little birds and hogging the feeders for themselves, in some cases tipping the feeders upside down and dumping the food on the floor.

We didn’t expect this to work but it did and brilliantly! The 20 or so Jackdaws have now cleared off and the squirrels have gone elsewhere. The feeder is now full of little birds and looks really attractive too. A brilliant buy!!!

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersAfter spending months filling up feeders that would get demolished within a day I decided to take to the internet to see if this was a common problem.

After a little research I saw that Starlings were the main culprit and so set to find a product to stop them. This being the second product after the first product allowed the birds in.

The feeder has been up 3 days and so far I have seen the starlings attempt to get in without success and also are unable to reach the tasty meal worms I have inside it. It allows the smaller birds in to get a look in which is good and I can then have other food for the larger birds.

This is a very well built and sturdy product and would highly recommend to anyone mortgaging their house to keep the local bird population fed.
