Lost one star for Accuracy because it sometime adds red when the screen isn’t displaying visible red.

Works well without the need for a HDMI sync box

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve seen some very mixed reviews for this but decided to purchase anyways to just give it a go.

I purchased these for my new tv in which i planned to watch movies etc on and wanted some extra immersion. Setup was quite simple.

First thing i did was remove all of the items from the packaging. I retrieved the led strips and placed them nicely around the outer edges of the rear side of my tv making sure to press firmly to ensure good adhesion. I then did the same with the included control box and began connecting up all of the cables, the power adaptor, led strips, light bars and the camera itself.

I didn’t place the camera on the tv yet as i had a small trick up my sleep to ensure the camera was centered. I went to centreofmyscreen.com which places guidelines on the screen. This is when i played the camera and i lined it up with the center of the vertical line. I opted to place the camera at the bottom of my tv as it gave me better colour accuracy after some testing. Having this guide line also helped me placed the 8 included orange squares for calibrating the camera within the app After opening up the govee app i created an account and began pairing the dreamview kit to the app. Once paired it began a calibration in which it had me input which specific leds lit up in which orientation and it also asked whether the camera was at the top or the bottom of my tv. The app then proceeded over to the next screen in which it instructed me to drag 9 points on the screen to the orange squares + the position of the camera. Once this was done i was ready to go and test it out and i must say i am impressed with how good it looks

Takes time to set up correctly and highly recommended you collaborate accurately. You need to improvise of Hd tvs that are totally flat for the camera but this can be overcome by sticking the sponges to the back of the tv that the camera can stick to. Once collaborated we are convey it learns as it just gets better the more we use it.
Alexa works very well with it. Check out the video and see how amazing it performs

Absolutely love this, bit fiddly setting up and calibrating, but once there its great, ok it’s not 100% accurate all the time but for the money you can’t go wrong as an alternative to Phillips Hue. Certainly adds another dimension to your movie watching, and if it’s something your after I would certainly recommend.

The colour accuracy is great, and very eay to set up and use with Google/Alexa with the Govee app.
Just make sure you TV is the right size before buying, I’m saving for a larger TV, but the side light bars work with any TV, only issue is the LED stick on backlights are too long for my TV.
So much better than Phillips HUE sync box which only uses HDMI (so Netflix on your smart TV wont work with it) and you have to buy the LEDs and side lights separately, the Govee kit uses a discreet camera to capture all colours on the TV regardless of if it’s cable/antenna or HDMI based, and you get the whole kit included (light bars and sticky back LEDs wiht the simplest set up.

Only issue with the camera is it seems to only like TVs with a thick backing, it’s not made for the samsung wallpaper TV for instance, but with a bit of clear tape in the right places dont damage the screen and hold it firmly if you dont want to use the 3M sticky backings.

10/10 for cost and effectiveness., Best purchase I’ve made.

The lights themselves are 5* you get really good quality light from them and an easy to use app. The only downside for me us the build quality of the 2 light bars they are lightweight plastic, would rather have paid an extra 20 or so for better build quality if I am hones

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had this installed pretty easily. It does reflect the good reviews that others have written.
    Gripes:
    1. The adhesive on the clips was somehow poorer than those on the strips. Abandoned then
    2. Google assistant would change the mode from “movie” to something else if paired with other lights – this is a Google rather than Govee problem
    3. Adhesive on the control unit not great. Kept falling off the TV. Had to use my own 3M tape

For the money it’s ok. I ghetto rigged mine onto my 50in TV and it works just fine. The colour transition isn’t as great as everyone makes it out to be and I’m pretty sure the sensor is still picking up the 2 lightbars dispite calibrating it several times. My advise would be get the cheaper model that only has the backlight unless you can put the light bars at least 1m away (Govee recommend 500mm)
App is terrible and connection to Alexia is a waste of time.

The price is amazing for the quality you receive from this product. 5 stars all round.

Didn’t fit my tv, I have a very slim tv and the cam was only stickers, massive let down, and the spare lights that go on the side, the cake was just not long enough, they should of knew that nearly every tv is very slim but they didn’t and it would be better to have some kind of screw bracket to use where you can take it on and off as it gets in the way of th projected as well, looks I can’t have what I want.

Probably best to wait for the T2 come out in the UK, don’t pick up blacks as good

Had the govee last gen tv lights and I thought that was great but this gen syncs better and seems brighter probably because of the bars.
The bars do go quite bright and if you don’t want them on you can switch them off.
You can have the tv lights on and the bars off or have the bars on and the tv light off.
I have the bars horizontally but while typing this the app won’t let you select the bars to be in horizontal mode they pick the lights vertical off the tv. It doesn’t matter much but having that option would be nice.
The app is quite good loads of options to sync all your lights for a great movie night/games night/music night.

Was lucky enough to buy this on last day of reduced with extra discount price as was not sure it would be suitable for my 68″ LG as listing states it’s for 55-65″ screens!

As you can see from photos there’s no real gaps in the colours!

Photos taken during the day & are still bright so when it’s night time they will be more vibrant!

Light bars aren’t quite set in correct position at the mo but am still pleased with their effect!

Was very easy to set up – I’m disabled/mid 50s & only took me half hour start to finish – moving my heavy TV was hardest part!

Have not completely calibrated the colours yet – when screen is black lights go red/blue – I will – when I get a min – follow the instructions left in another reviewers comments & update my review at a later date!

On the whole I’m very happy with this kit – it certainly wasn’t the cheapest TV back light system but for what it can do plus extra light bars vs price paid I think it was value for money!

    Love it!

We have philips hue throughout the house and really wanted to have the ambilight around the tv the price was huge for what it was, we weren’t sure we would use it enough, I saw this and thought why not can always upgrade later but why bother this is amazing, so easy to set up, works really well with the camera which isn’t intrusive, watching TV the back light has a tiny lag but the effect is great, we are so impressed with the effect and the price and are really tempted to get more

I own other GOVEE light bars and LED strips and was amazed to find that buy using theHighlight function on the app, ALL my lights work as if they were part of the emersion kit.
I have a Samsung QLED TV and found that if you go into the picture settings you can change that setting to LED, this makes the colours much more accurate and the response is really on point
Definately an amazing bit of kit and highly recomended .

Yes it’s not perfect but with the saturation turned right down it’s good enough & looks better than just the standard LEDS round the 3 sides you get on most Phillips TVs, sticking to a thin OLED TV was fun but as long as you heat the strips up with a hair dryer first they adhere with not much pressure.

For the price, compared to more well known kits, it’s an absolute bargain. Very easy to setup, even with the TV in situ on the wall (as mine was). The colour matching isn’t perfect all of the time, but is pretty damn close. Lots of functionality and is easy to integrate into your Alexa set up etc. Highly recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGood system. One thing to keep in mind, is to turn the Colour saturation all the way down to almost nothing. This will improve the colour a huge amount. Putting it on max just screams primary colours with not very smooth gradients.
Looks fantastic when set up correctly. We mounted the camera underneath and setup was a breeze.

Golden Review Award: 36 From Our UsersI have been on the market for TV back lighting for sometime now, however the cost of what was available at the time really put me off (philips hue). When I saw this kit, at first I was really sceptical due to the price. I thought at this price point there is no way that this product can achieve the colours and timings with what is on the screen.

This product has so much going for it and I would highly recommend it.
    Pros:
    1) easy to install
    2) software is intuitive and easy to navigate
    3) AMAZING VALUE FOR MONEY
    4) works well with smart home devices (google, alexa).
    5) This device does not need a HDMI sync box like its competitors. Anything that is being run on your tv, it will produce a colour for.

Cons: **IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT EXACT COLOUR MATCH**
There is only one con I have personally come across and this is why it did not get 5 stars. This is something I had to research and discover on my own. Straight out of the box the camera that reads the TV has a high ISO settings. Due to this it struggles with some colours. For example with blacks, it produces blues/red.

This could be fix by Govee via a software update but it hasn’t been done to my knowledge. However there is a manual fix and once you do this it gives you 99% colour match. The experience is mind blowing once you fix this.

To fix the issue with the ISO, I attached a ND FILTER which comes with a mobile phone clip (see second picture). This is a Newer 37mm ND filter which you can buy on amazon.

The filter can be adjusted with a dial. I have turned the dial 3 from the highest settings.

Go through the calibration process with the **ND FILTER OFF**. Once calibration has been completed just attach the filter and enjoy.

You will know when you have achieved optimal colour settings when, during a movie the screen goes black, the lights should be a very very dimmed down grey tone. If they blacks on the screen are anything but this colour, re-calibrate and start again.

    Amazing product!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI absolutely love these. I have been following the Govee range of lighting products for some time and I came across this and just had to make the purchase. Setting it up was simple thanks mainly to the excellent Govee Home app which explains everything very well.

The colours that it projects are very close to what is on screen. It won’t show black, but instead a dark blue, which is close enough though. The settings which worked best for me were having Brightness set to 35%, Saturation almost down to 0 (but even at 0 it looks good in a dark room, which is what I have it set to) and Mode set to Calm (not Dynamic, as that would flicker a tad). The app receives many updates and being the owner of many Govee lighting products I can see that improvements do come with the app and for the better. Overall, I highly recommend it. My recommended settings are shown in one of the pics.

Not 100% perfect but very close

It’s got cheaper than the Phillips Hue. Because the Phillips Hue, you need a lot of equipment lights including the bridge and the sync box. But GOVEE is the winner! And they beat Phillips Hue. And keep up the good work GOVEE. And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
