It adds to viewing at night, but can not say it works that well as have to pull away from wall in my tv position. But previous tv was Ambilight and worked perfectly in the same tv position, colours registering perfectly before. Also could not manage position of camera on top and moved to bottom.

I bought this as abit of an impulse buy (they never usually pay off) but found the set up really easy and manged to pair up with my Govee wall light and floor lamp and can even position them in a virtual room so they light up respectably to the side of the TV they are on which is really cool!

The app can take some figuring out but due to me having other Govee home products I am already familiar with the app but from automation side of thing it’s great you can also add widgets to your phone so one click can turn it off or adjust brightness etc.

Like I say if I could be bothered I would return and buy the T2 but I don’t expect it to be better enough to take this off and package back up

Highly recommend to people who are looking to add some immersion to your viewing habbits.

Extremely recommend if you are a star wars nut like myself as the light saber battles and genral space combat is incredible! Plus another excuse to rewatch them all

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWOW! I wondered if I would like this. The thought of lights behind my TV did seem a little wierd, but once set up there is no going back, talk about a wow factor!
The lights come very well packed and are on a roll. The instruction are very clear and providing you follow them to the letter you will have no problems. Some folk complain of adherence problems but I didnt have any. Just make sure everything is clean, a wipe with a damp cloth is no good. Make sure the surface where you want to place the light strip is super clean, and I do mean super clean. (Wipes are included)
An app. is required on your smart phone, download the app. and follow the instructions and you won’t go wrong. The back lights can be adjusted for brightness and can be set to perform many effects. Too many to show or list here. I have included a short video. (Not very good quality, but it gives you an idea) I have set the lights for maximum brightness for the sake of the limited capacity of my phone video quality, I hope it gives you an idea of what to expect, but please realise you can tone it right down.
Trust me, very good value and entertainment, you will soon forget they are there but you will miss them when they are not on. Thanks for reading to the end!

This is a really good product. The lights can be easily customised using the free app and synced with other Govee products. They have a music mode, with the built in microphone as well as a camera to sync the colours with what’s on scree

I had the previous version but this one far exceeded it.
It shows green now; if you know, you know.
The fact that one strip is now at the bottom of the TV makes a huge difference. I have the Philips hue sync box and gradient strip and find myself using this instead.

    Govee customer service is superb.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBrilliant product for 41 on black Friday.extremely easy to install, connecting to WiFi and calibration via the app is easy. Works extremely effectively as an ambient addition to watching TV and works very well as a sound reactive light when gaming or listening to music.links with Google home and Alexa so you can control on/off and light brightness via Home but also by voice. Perfect fit for my 55″ TCL with room to fit a 65″ very easily. Recommended!

Very easy to install. Use the govee home app to calibrate. Had to watch a YouTube video to set up the colour balance as it was a lot of red at first. Adjusted the white balance and saturation to give a more natural look. It looks amazing

Positives: This light is amazing! Quality brightness and colour with an easy to use app. I bought a size which didn’t match my TV so there are some wires hanging off (totally my fault).

Negatives: The adhesive tabs are just terrible in my opinion and just shouldn’t be included at all. secondly, the DreamView mode where the lights displayed match the screen is not great. I don’t know if I have set it up wrong but they just don’t match well.

I would recommend if you are looking for a backlight with multiple scene options which can match other Govee products. Definitely don’t buy if you are getting it for the DreamView ability, and choose a higher budget one.

Ordered on Prime Day, great price and seen lots of good reviews. Spent a full day trying to get them connected to wifi. No luck. Used every troubleshooting guide and technique i could find or think of, wasnt having it. Used Govees “rapid replacement” service and a brand new kit arrived a few days later. Swapped out the control box and camera as the leds were still good, worked perfectly first time.

Its clear there is a quality control issue at Govee regarding the wifi/control box at a bare minimum based on how many forum posts i could find talking about it and asking how to resolve it.

In summary, great product when it works. If you buy, be prepared to find that it doesnt work and you need a replacement for the brand new item you just got.

I have three setups using these, they’re great! Warning: before sticking the Camera on to the top or bottom of your TV check for reflections, for instance in my lounge with camera on the bottom the ceiling light causes a reflection that the camera translates into orange.
Also ensure you setup your white hue correctly.
If you’re clever you can fit this to a 48″ TV as you can see on my bedroom picture, I did this by carefully overlapping the excess strip, do this at your own risk though.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love these things!

Just removed it to try and trouble shoot and now I have a line of dead pixels right in the middle of my screen! The lights came off easily but the camera was very difficult to get off, even doing it slowly and carefuly has damaged the TV. Really not happy
The camera still works and the app can connect to it, but no lights.
It used to work fine, although with a slight lag but its what to expect with the tech.
I expected it to last longer than it has though considering how much it cost!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersMy son wanted some responsive lights for his 43″ LG TV. He sent me a tiktok page with some product but the page had spelling errors, couldn’t find any reviews or information about the product so didn’t trust it. I had a look on Amazon and nearly all cater for 55-65″ TVs only. A few reviews of this product say it is possible to use on smaller TVs so I took the risk….

The light strip needs to be stuck to perimeter of the back of TV and to cater for smaller TV you need to create “loops” of the lighting strip on each of the four sides so it is partially stuck down and partially “free”. It looks a bit of a mess (who looks at the back?) but it actually works fine in reality. I was quite impressed with it especially in the dark.

The slight downside is the camera which I mounted on top. My son reckons you don’t notice it after a while. To calibrate the camera you (lightly) stick on some stickers around the edge of the screen and then use the app. Because the TV is less than the recommended size the calibration doesn’t work too well so you just need to get it as near as possible and go with it. WiFi is used to connect the device and the app is reasonable.

The results were pretty good despite the fact that the lighting strips look messy but are quite well hidden. The backlights certainly match the screen colours and (to me) look pretty good.

All in all it was better than I thought. If you are buying this for a smaller TV at risk then be prepared for extra work and a mess at the back of TV. There seems to be a gap in the market at this price for TVs smaller than 55″, i.e bedroom TVs.

This product is easy to set up. This set does come with orange foam pads with a sticky side that you need to place on the front of your tv screen, you then need to set up and calibrate the lights and camera on your phone. Once on these lights do a fantastic job of creating an ambient feel.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought as part of Christmas gift for my partner, the lights work great, easy to install, hard part being the placing of the included foam blocks used to calibrate the camera but with a tape measure you can manage it easy enough.

Lights and brightness can be changed via app or voice control through Alexa (assuming it works the same with the Google devices too but wouldn’t know as we don’t have one), if you want to change light modes (just a solid light, painted lights, react to screen or react to sound) you can only do this via the app, unless there’s a way Alexa will change it for you that we haven’t discovered yet. This isn’t a major issue though, especially if you’re going on the app to do custom light painting anyways, that being said….

You can ‘paint’ lights in custom designs/configurations, it’s dimmable, I’ve got used to my partner telling her Alexa to ‘turn TV light to 10%’ before she goes to bed.

Reaction times…..spot on. Both to music/sound and to what the TV display has in it, colours are accurate and fast changing, no lagging between the colour on the screen and what colour the lights change to, the reaction to music is really fast and accurate too. It will change the colours when you pause the music and have a conversation too which is a bit annoying but that is user error, just goes to show how sensitive the mic is!

All in all, it’s a great TV light setup, you forget the camera is hanging over the TV and eventually you don’t notice it after a few days of use. My only issue would be my missus using it as a night light, I prefer to sleep in complete darkness

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter installing some wood panels we were looking for the finishing touch to the wall and this was it.

I bought this to fit an 55 Inch LED TV and it’s fits and operates well. Camera can be a little flimsy to fit if you have a very narrow bezel.

The power cord could do with a being a little bit longer if you run the power through the wall to a socket it will be tight.

Comes along with a smartphone app so you change the modes and brightness etc and integrates well with Alexa and Google Home. I don’t believe it works with Apple homekit yet (need to check).

Very happy with this purchase and would definitely buy again.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this product because I didn’t just want a set colour LED light on my TV. I wanted the light to adapt and replicate the colours that are on screen. The set up is pretty simple and the adhesive on the lights is very good. The camera sensor you adhere to the top or bottom of the screen has moved slightly due to the adhesive pulling away, but after re setting this, it seems to be fine now. The app you use to control the LEDs is excellent and is often updated. I do recommend setting the saturation of the lights to very low (about 3%) as this seems to capture the colours far more accurately. Any higher and it get the wrong colours, for example green on the screen would shine red from the LEDs. one more note, and this may be person dependant. but when the lights are on, it feels like the picture on screen is of a higher quality. This was the case for me and it could be due to the eyes not having to deal with contrast between the screen and it’s surroundings.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersDecent lights for movies, TV and music. As the app let’s you change modes and everything. Also hooks up to Google home which I like even more as I have lots of things now that are connected. Only thing that was annoying was those led strip lights not sticking. Had to use scotch tape to secure the led lights. Then do some make shift bending as there was excess lights.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have used Govee LED strips and playbar previously so I know the quality of their products is usually very good and can easily compete with Philips Hue and others. Their is unlimited choice of designs in their app with the DIY features.
The adhesion of the strips is good however the adhesive clips that are supposed to keep the excess cable secure are awful. Maybe it’s because my TV isn’t flat on the back and is slightly curved, but I’ll have to use my own clips otherwise I can see the shadow of the cables on the wall behind the TV.

Also be aware that when your TV is BLACK (i.e. dark scene in a movie), the lights will NOT turn off, they will go blue or red depending on what you have set this to in the app. Not a deal breaker but it would be 100X better if the LEDs powered off when it detects black. Otherwise, once you get the settings correct, the colour accuracy is great and very responsive when scenes change colours quickly.

I bought these on Black Friday for ~40 and am happy with it. For full price, I would probably wait for the T2 version to go on sale as it has 2 cameras.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersIt works. Though It needs to be wall mounted TV for optimum effect else colour may blend and begin producing slightly off white tainted colour match.
Tip. Use masking tape on tv then use blocks as glue on blocks it very sticky and will gum up tv.
I did think this was one continuous strip which would have made install alit better instead on a 50″ the sections tend to overlap.
The music effect are a total amount of 4. Truly a disappointing aspect. Others have significantly more (wled) .
It does add another layer to your TV experience. Just needs a little fine tuning after install once you understand what it’s doing..
Also don’t have any bright light sources in view of the camera, direct or indirect as the strip will try to show it.

I’d like another one of these or something to compliment its use and function but for free so if govee or amazon could see a way of doing that I’d appreciate it as it a little pricey at this time and economy.
They say if you don’t ask you won’t get. Just like to know if they even care or notice the little guy. … Amazon? Govee? I’m asking.!! Lol

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersHaving used fixed colour LEDs behind my previous TV, I was keen to try this product on my new TV.
Installation of the LED strips is straightforward and the adhesive seems strong, so hopefully everything will stay in place. It’s worth taking a bit of time to plan exactly where the LED strips should be placed and where cables are best routed. The control module also sticks to the rear of the TV using adhesive pads. The only issues I had were that the lead to the mains power adapter is a bit short so I can’t currently route the lead where I’d like. Also, the camera fixing method needs a rethink by the manufacturer. Again self adhesive pads are used to fix the camera either at the top or bottom of the screen. However, many current flat panel TVs have very thin screens (mine is about 3mm) so the adhesive has very little to stick to, and any movement of the camera results in odd lighting effects as the calibration becomes incorrect. It would be useful if the manufacturer offered a few fixing options (or even a stand mount) for the camera.
All that aside, once you’ve set the smartphone App up and turned the LED brightness down from 100% to a sensible level, you get a very nice effect that compliments the image on the screen. The LEDs respond quickly to changing scenes and the colour matching is very good.
All in all, it is a worthwhile addition to your TV, just be prepared to spend a bit of time setting it up properly and possibly a bit of problem solving with fixing the camera.

Quick update – I gave up trying to use the self adhesive pad to try to stick the camera to the edge of the screen. I found that a universal smartphone holder fits the base of the camera module perfectly, so I am using that mounted on a cabinet below the screen – it works perfectly and also provides a much better image of the screen for calibrating the camera on the mobile app.

I never got to use this so I can’t comment on how it performs or looks ad I had to return it.

The one thing to be aware of though is that it may not fit some newer TVs.

The strips are pre sized and have connecting pieces at the corners, this is where it went wrong for me.

My new LG OLED is practically bezel free so a 55″ screen is 55″ of plastic at the back, on older TVs the bezels added extra surface area around the screen.

The pre sized strips are now too long to fit on the back of the telly unless I’m prepared to have the connecting parts jutting out above and below the TV!

This would look terrible and I returned it.

Shame really as it looks really good.

Anyway, just something to aware of if you have a a newer bezel free telly.

Overall this is a great product and the product description is accurate. Install the app on your phone, follow the instructions and you’re off to the races. If you are the owner of a curved screen TV you will find that there’s a degree of trial and error in setting up the screen area (the points on the screen where the camera takes color cues for the LEDs). The top corners of a curved screen aren’t visible to the camera so you’ll need to experiment a little.

Don’t expect an exact color match from the LEDs even when you have everything set up. However the general effect is easily good enough to do the job and I’m pretty pleased with it.

The adhesive that Govee use on the back of the RGB LED strips is excellent so far, unlike many other products I’ve tried. That they provide little adhesive clips to reinforce the strips is an excellent idea.

Overall this is a solid product, especially if you get it when there’s a discount.

The product itself is fine enough for what it is. If you are wall mounting your TV it gets frustrating though.

There are 3 things to watch out for

    1. The box needs powered from a plug so you’ll have tu run a wire up the back instead of using the TV USB ports

    2. The control box is pretty chunky and doesn’t leave enough clearance on a slimline TV that’s flush mounted.

    3. You have to pair the box via Bluetooth by holding a button on that control box. If your TV is already wall mounted you’ll have to take it back off at this point to do so as the box will be flush with the wall.

So I marked it down for that. It’s a decent product but for the price I would have expected better from the manual. I realise this is as much to do with me not reading the whole thing as it is anything else.

There are plenty of devices that can be paired without a button press these days however and this would have been much better.

Little grumpy and frustrated, I’ll get the TV back off the wall tomorrow and start again. Sigh

After seeing Philips Ambilight OLEDs and wanting to partake but having a 6-month old LG C1 already I found this kit on Youtube.

Watched loads of videos and decided to take the plunge. Installed it this morning and am really happy with it. Watched the attached video and was pleasantly surprised with how well it works. Tried it with the Obi-Wan/Vader fight from Disney+ series and it looks great. Watched Youtube videos of the castle fireworks at Disney World and works brilliantly to extend the bloom of the fireworks beyond the screen, making the screen seem larger.

Set-up and calibration is a breeze – took 30 mins from unboxing to having it in place and working. Another 5-10 mins to calibrate the camera via the Govee app and it was up and running.

All in all I’m well impressed with it and would recommend it to anyone.

Remarkably good. Takes time setting up the fish eye camera but worth spending the extra time to find all points on TV for better led backlight
So my thoughts where if I put camera at the top especially with such a flat thin OLED panel
You would need a box behind the camera to hold it up above the TV rather than sticking it to the flat panel which would cause it to block out the led strip around the back of the camera so I used a clear plastic battery box allowing the Leds to shine through the box (pics included of what I did,) I used the 3m stickers included on the cable tabs to stick the clear plastic box to the back of the TV seems to work well, although I do wish I had 9f got the full set with two side bars of lights too, as the control box in that set allows both lights to run off one box and one camera, definitely worthwhile though.

Spend time setting it up and you will not be disappointed

    H6199 – Firmware: v3.02.01

Fitted to an 50″ screen. It can be done, you just have to take your time, but it does fit.
I also have the camera 3M taped to my stand as I really didn’t want it on top. Works perfectly and is very discreet 🙂

For my eye, the best results are with brightness at 15% and saturation around 10-12%

It’s not perfect. There sometimes seems a little lag until it wakes up and then it’ll keep up with the screen. Greys it thinks has green in them and yellow/gold it thinks is red. I wish there was a way to calibrate it as that would make it almost perfect.

That said, most content I’ve checked with them look amazing. e.g. Star Wars, Avengers, Avatar all look great with the strips on. The only one I’ve checked so far that wasn’t any good was Dune. Lots of looking at sand dunes and each time the lights thinking they were red. Calibration could fix that if it was available to us.

Perfect? No. But it still had me laughing when first using them at just how good they are.
At 53-63 compared to Philips 350 offering with only for 3 edges of LED and restrictions on video quality?, I’ll take the Govee thanks any day of the week 🙂

    It works well.
There are some times it’s not perfect, but you’d need a full ambilight for that, so all said and done, and given the price too, I like it, it’s good and adds real value.
Physical set us was fine and easy.
50″ tv, so in a few places had to make a bit of a “bridge” / push the light strip up into a bit of a bridge bulge shape to shorten the overall length. Makes no difference to how it looks on the wall.
It does not turn off on its own when the tv goes off. It needs the app to do it or pressing the button on the unit, so I mounted that on the back edge of the where it was easy to reach.

It did need fine tuning to get the colours right, as others have said.
Out of the box, its too bright and and not even close to being right, so don’t be disheartened when you first switch it on.
Settings changes are very very easy via the app.
    For me:
    Brightness 25%
    Saturation about 25%
White balance about 35% along from the blue side
    “Part” not “all”
    Movie not game.

I put the camera at the top of the tv.

All in at that, it’s good stuff.

Negatives – The orange squares used to calibrate the camera are difficult to see and the lights don’t work properly if you have a table lamp or wall lights near the TV
We turn off the table lamp if we watch TV with the lights on and then they work superbly
Positives – these lights really make the tv interesting (even the adverts)
The phone app is easy to use once set up

Not gonna lie they are very good once you install them but when the TV screen goes black the lights on that corner still show colours instead of going off. Most of the time they are very accurate but they do miss some colours and in some cases show colours that are not on the TV. Overall these lights are awesome and a very good cheap alternative to Philips Hue sync box and Lytmi sync box. I would recommend these lights.

Absolutely love this product, so k7ch better than the standard back-light products, it extends your viewing experience! My only issue is that ot doesn’t turn on and off with the TV, you need to do it separately

Having found a post on Reddit on how to use with a smaller TV I bought these for my 43″ TV for gaming. After some trial and error with attaching them to the back of the TV I can say that they 100% work perfectly. Excellent immersion for gaming and such, especially in atmospheric and slow paced games.

You can place the camera at the bottom of your TV out of sight so you don’t have to worry about it sticking out and looking out of place. Mine is hidden behind a soundbar.

The clips I got with the kit weren’t great and the strip on the back warmed up and came unstuck after a couple of days. Invest in some heavy duty 3M clips and you’ll be fine.

App is easy to use and comprehensive and works well with Alexa. I have it with 2 modes, gaming mode where it reacts to the TV and Ambient mode where it plays a built in preset of the Northern Lights. Changing between modes and on/off with Alexa works perfectly.

I know you’re not allowed to swear in a review, but, this is
Four-king amazing. Absolute doddle to install and set up, so sharp, crisp and responsive. Spent the last 10 minutes watching my wall and not the tv, if you’re into home cinema or gaming, (which I will test later) then this is a must have .
    Bravo.

Tried V1 and sent it back but this new version is amazing.
Very easy to install, no maintenance and easy to connect to home assistant.
I wished there was a way to automate with Siri or something the change from movie to scene to color without going into the app

Nicely packaged and easy to install if you have the right sized TV. Mine is curved and 50″ so I did as others suggested and made some humps as I went round.
Super adhesive strips that are solid to my curved TV that has ridges in back.
I installed with the camera at bottom facing up as I could hide it behind my soundbar. Didn’t quite like the intrusive positioning at the top.
The app is easy to connect to strips and you can play around with settings such as bright red and modes e.g. changes with TV colour, beats to sound or solid back light.
The negative I have is to get the best of the lights I need to watch TV in the dark. As soon as any light source hits the TV the backlight goes orange/red no matter what colour is on the TV.
If I’m watching in the dark then it’s brilliant and in my opinion just as good as Philips Hue

Although I had to have the first one replaced, the replacement is working very well. I bought this because I had to replace my Philips OLED which had ambilight. The new TV wasn’t Philips due to the quality of the one I replaced. So I purchased this to see what it would be like, it work really well, you will have to play with the white balance and saturation levels though. This is because you may get a red hue instead of white when the screen is off or there is a dark scene. It was easy to install and is as bright if not brighter than the ambilight it replaced.

Brilliant addition to a smart room, i have 4 sets in the house now. Definitely makes you more immersed into games, and movies. Linked to alexa for on, off, change of colours and brightness. Its a shame you cant go from video mode to colour via alexa, but its such a good product that i can let that slide. Easy installation, even if you have no idea, and you will be showing videos of it to everyone you meet.

I held off from buying anything like this as the cost of the Philips ones are ridiculous, but this gove product is brilliant and high quality, I’m so glad I purchased it when I did and I highly recommend you get this

Easy to install, but must use the additional sticky supports as the tape on its own will peel off. I have on a 70 inch screen so light is slightly washed out in the corners but unnoticeable once your immersed in a film etc. Easily used with Alexa too. Kwill be getting a second/third set.

Does the job for good price

    I’d give it 3.5/5 really.
I previously made my own TV leds with hyperion and osmc on a raspberry pi. Since that could directly analyse the image, the colours were perfect.
The downside to that, it only worked for playing thing through osmc.
After a change of TV, I always missed the background leds. When I saw this it seemed perfect as it won’t matter what source is playing it will be able to analyse the screen.
The problem for me, the camera and/or arm are not adjustable. At first install it was able to see the bottom 1/3 of the screen.
Ive had to pack the back on the stand to make the arm and camera tilt. Now it’s able to see the bottom 3/4 of the screen.
If you could just adjust the camera at the end of the arm I feel like I could get 95% of the screen in view.
The alignment process I did a few times to try to improve the colours displayed to what the leds are doing. It’s far from perfect, but I appreciate I’m comparing it to hyperion that didn’t rely on a camera and room lighting to get it right.
Overall I’m happy to once again have leds that change with the screen.
When the tv is off though, some leds are dark green, so it’s not great in handling black.
Hopefully there will be an improved version with adjustable head. If so I’d buy that if I needed to replace. But I don’t think I’d buy this one again. Its OK but not great.
But I really do appreciate after spending hours with hyperion years ago, before tv lighting was ever a thing, just how difficult it is to get a finished product that does this. It’s still far far better than some white/static light strips that many sell.

I have an LG OLED55CX5LB.AEK which is a very thin TV, this means that the camera has trouble sticking to the the top and the only place to mount at the bottom is on the inferred receiver, I had to make a support out of the the orange set up foam.

Best led TV lights I’ve ever had.

There fantastic, I have the camera at the bottom instead of the top on my TV unit so it take the distraction of the camera on the TV away.

I keep the saturation of the lights low so it looks closer to the TV screen colour.

I’m a marvel geek and these lights make the marvel films look even better on the TV!

    I highly recommend them

A great piece of kit for a great price. Once you have set up and calibrated, you will be amazed. Take your time and use YouTube for any help. I set the camera at the bottom of the TV and the soundbar conveniently obscures it. I was hesitant buying this product but I’m so glad I did. Movies and games never felt better. Bravo

A shame that they are too big for the 55″ screen that they say they are OK for at the smallest size, so I have to bulge out every third light all the way round the TV, but the light is great, fully immersive and easy to install and operate.

Was concerned it wouldn’t be as good as advertised but it absolutely is.
The light behind brings an added dimension to our viewing & also helps to ease the eyes a little when watching in the dark.
Easy to install using the step by step instructions and it fit neatly & securely to my 65″ TV.
It picks up almost everything from the head mounted camera, overall a worthy purchase.

To say that this kit is 1/8 the price of the Philips Hue, I didn’t think it would hold up.
I’m glad that I was wrong!
It isn’t perfect, but when the alternative is over 400(600 if you get the extra lights that I have)
    it’s great.
Only criticism I have is that power wire could have been longer, as it made installation a bit more tricky.
Quick tip: LESS IS MORE. Turn the saturation setting WAY down for more accurate colours

This takes a lot of tweaking to get right but it is good enough that it gives you a decent sense of immersion, although it just makes me want my Philips TV to be an ambilight one as now I see what people like about the ambilight system.

Govees alternative is super easy to set up, but each strip has to take up one side of your TV. That means if its too long for your TV you need to stick down the start and end of the led strip and just have the excess bunched up in little loops. Unsightly but you won’t see that as its behind your television.

You can put the camera on the bottom of the TV, I have, as there is an option in the govee home app to allow for that although any lights you have that reflect off your TV screen will affect the backlighting as it will read that colour as on screen colour.

In movie mode this is pretty good, its not perfect but its good enough that it does make a difference and does add a sense of depth and immersion.

You can turn it on or off with google assistant or Alexa and it has different modes although I have only tried movie and game mode.

Game mode reacts much quicker to colour changes but has a very irritating flicker whereas movie mode reacts slower but smoother.

If you use these two modes remember to also choose the part option, not full, in its settings page when using the app as part will react to changes and allow different LEDs to show different colours on different sides whereas the full option only shows a single colour at a time all around the screen.

If it was a tenner cheaper I would say this was a steal, as it is this is still a good option although feels a small amount overpriced. But still a decent budget alternative to ambilight.
