Excellent Lawnmowe
Love this product and I waited a couple of months to give a review. Comes with two batteries and don’t take too long to charge. I only have two fairly small lawns so perfect for these.
The lawnmower is pretty heavy though if you have to lift up steps etc.
Overall excellent though.
I have a large garden and the first mow of the year was a breeze even though the grass was long. Used 2 batteries but sure now the first cut is done, one battery will be fine. Very happy
Won't go back
Got fed up with cables and, much like the Dyson hoover inside, we won’t be going back from battery operated mower. Much easier to just grab out of the shed and go.
Great product with decent battery life.
Easy to use, brilliant power!
This is my second battery mower and I love it! Makes light work of my garden. I wanted the self propelled one but was to much money. However it’s not as heavy as I thought it would be. Bought during the prime deals so I’m delighted with cost.
Haven’t used too much as bought recently and time of year, including wet weather (you’re advised not to mow), means it will get a greater work out when spring arrives. But seems to work efficiently, easy to start/stop, decent sized bin. Height adjustment took a bit of getting used to; instructions could be better. I can almost cut front, side and rear garden (mid-size) on a single battery, fully charged – pleased with this and spare battery always waiting.
No more wires
It’s brilliant battery lasts well and son can now mow the grass without electrocuting him self
Great mowe
Love the fact that its cordless which to be honest was the key reason I bought it plus I have other greenworks tools so already had plenty of batteries. It cuts really well, is pretty quiet, folds up nicely and the height adjustment works really well, so over all it’s a pleasure to use with my only slight negative is it’s quite heavy, noticeably so when lifting to pack away in the cupboard compared to my old Bosch. Overall though very pleased with the performance, ease of use and build quality, would recommend
Top quality
Really good lawnmower. We had it for almost a year and it gets the job done without any wires getting in the way. You might need extra batteries depending on the size of the lawn.
Great Machine
Purchased this having suffered a heart attack so wanted something lighter that would suit me and so my wife could use if need be. Half the weight of my old petrol Honda and half as noisy too.
Very Happy with this.
I am very satisfied with my new mower.
Mower arrived well packed. It was easy to assemble and both batteries were full charge in couple oh hours. Using this mower is easy and pleasure. This is very good quality product. Batteries last enough long to cut my full lawn. I am very happy and highly recommend this product.
Not as powerful as electric but does it’s job
Not as powerful as a Lon electric one. This is my second device after the first one stopped working.
Good machine, works well, it even takes strawberry shrubs without problem but battery life is not empress at all. 1 battery works about 10 – 15 minutes. Is no chance it will cut 500m2 – no way!
I paid 300 for it but will say it shouldn’t be cost more than 200. Too expensive for it. Yes, does the job but for 20-30 minutes maximum with 2 batteries used. To cover medium size of lawn, 15x15meters you must be quick other way have to wait for new battery.
Will keep it? Yes but just because need battery operated, otherwise NO.
Brillia
Great service from the seller. Ordered on Wednesday and was mowing the lawn with it on Friday and that was to Scottish Islands.
The machine itself could not be better. Assembled within 10 minutes, super simple. The machine is so light and manoeuvrable. I can now my lawn with this 16inch mowerfar faster than I can with my old 20inch petrol. Now ordering the strimmer as well.
Excellent lawnmower for light job
The lawnmower is quite light with a generous grass collector. Theoretically, you could mow around 250m2 with the two provided 2Ah batteries. However, it only works if you set blade height at level 2 or even 3. The minute you set it to level 1, it begins to struggle and burn out a full 2Ah battery in less than 5 minutes (or much less). Otherwise, it is a great lightweight cordless lawnmowe
Good - but wish the batteries lasted longe
Overall the lawnmower works well and has a good sized storage container, its a little heavy but nothing major, its easy to replace the batteries and as it comes with two its enough to do both the front and back lawns (back is 130ft by 60ft) (front 20ft by 20ft) so should be enough for an average house, do wish the batteries did last slightly longer though.
Does what it says on the ti
So I was worried moving to a battery lawnmower thinking about run time and charging time. This model with 2x2Ah batteries last about 20 min and one battery charges in 30min back to full. So worst case scenario if you need to mow longer than 40min you would have to wait 10min until the battery is fully charged which if you stop to empty the basket and have a cup tea isn’t a big issue for me. But be careful there are bundles without the fast charger … cuts well, cant fault i
Does a good cu
Does a good job cutting the grass and has easy height adjustment. But lets get real about the batteries, it came with 2 No 40V batteries and if you get a move on 1 battery JUST lasts for our back garden which is approx 160m2 so saying you can get 500m2 with 2 batteries is basically just not right. We got a fast charger with ours and it does charge the batteries pretty fast, so you can be back out again in no time.
I had a mountfield petrol mower but found starting it hard once I began having heart & breathing problems so changed to a battery one & I’m so glad I did. I found this Greenworks mower incredibly easy to assemble & it’s maneuverability is so much easier than my old mountfield which is great as I have 17 trees to cut around & a pond with an irregular edge. I have only used it as a mulcher so can’t comment on the grass box. My lawn is VERY lumpy bumpy and I do need to tilt the mower onto its rear wheels in places but it never complains and still cuts well. My garden is also on a slight slope and again she works well. My only criticism is that the battery doesn’t last as long as I’d expected. I appreciate because of the unevenness of my lawn that the battery will need to work harder but having cut my lawn numerous times now I can state that the battery lasts between 8 to 12 minutes, not long enough to cut my back lawn in one go ( rear garden minus pond about 250sq meters.) It takes between 2 to 3 battery charges & I’ve been cutting it weekly on dry grass. The battery does charge quickly however not in 8 to 12 minutes so you are idle for a while whilst waiting for it to charge if you haven’t been able to complete the lawn with the 2 batteries supplied. The only other priblem i have enciuntered is that i find moving the height adjuster difficult, whether i am doing something wrong i dont know. The handles are easy to put up & down with the quick release bolt making storage & setting up really easy. Overall I am happy with the lawnmower & definitely do not regret buying it. I hope this review has been helpful.
Nice machine, but the battery power holds it back
There’s a lot to like about this mower. It’s a good size, it’s easy to use, is quiet and manoeuvrable.
The battery power is both its superpower and its achilles heel. On one hand it is a godsend to lose the cable, and a great alternative to petrol. On the other hand, the 2ah battery only lasts about 15 mins, covering a small space of garden (maybe 30 sq m), so you need to have spare batteries at the ready if you have a bigger space. The battery power also can’t cope as well with thick, long grass, so don’t leave it too long between cuts.
Overall I’m happy, but unless you have a fairly small and regularly maintained lawn, it’s not a realistic substitute for petrol.
Great mower but a little more difficult to handle than a flymo
I have been amazed how good this mower is and how much grass I have been able to cut on a single charge (small battery).
It is so refreshing not having to bother with an electric cable or mucking about with a petrol mower.
Really pleased with my purchase, added to my blower, strummer and hedge cutter, I am a greenworks convert!
I needed something light. My lawn has a drainage issue I cant fix. So I need a light mower, so that I dont destroy the grass with my other heavier mowers when its still not totally dry under surface. I had a bosch ergoflex before for same reason – it was light. This is even lighter. I think in specifications it says something like 14kg. It actually feels lighter. You can fly around the lawn quickly. It does drain battery quickly. I use only 4AH. But in general the greenworks batteries dont compare as well to the ryobi’s and ego’s. I marked one star down, because it does not have roller. They could easily for pennies added a roller like my old bosch. So if you want to stripe your lawn, this will not do it. Value is excellent. I already have 3 greenworks batteries. So to buy the tool only for this price was brilliant. Would highly recommend if you dont want to stripe your lawn.
Machine arrived well-packaged though the two batteries, in bubble-wrap, were just loose inside the box which could have caused some damage if the box was badly handled. Assembly simply consisted of unscrewing a couple of lever locks, inserting the upper part of the handle, and re-inserting the lever locks. A couple of cable guides needed the cable inserted through them, this may be where other reviewers have gone wrong because if the cable guides are positioned incorrectly then the cable could get trapped when the handle is folded down – a bit of common sense overcomes this. I already had a couple batteries from the strimmer in the same range so I could use it straight away. The 2Ah battery did last about 20 minutes, so with the 4 batteries I now have gives me well over an hour of mowing which is more than enough. Batteries recharge in about an hour.
The machine is very light and easy to move around. I’ve only used it with the mulching plug, which was already inserted, but I tried attaching the bag and that was straight-forward. The bag is semi-collapsible so needs a bit of space to store if not in use.
Apart from that, the height adjustment is easy enough, though the mechanism does seem a little flimsy – I don’t intend to alter it much so hopefully it won’t be an issue.
Cuts and mulches the various heights of grass I tried it on, the motor handled everything I tried it on except the very longest grass (which I would normally have strimmed anyway) when the motor did slow a bit.
Happy with the purchase and the 3 year warranty certainly gives peace of mind.
Stripey grass!
Wider than most lawnmowers, which reduces the time it takes to mow my patch. Only used it a couple of times, but it does pretty well and the battery lasts long enough to cut my medium sized patch. It’s not too keen on long wet grass, but that’s not unique to this model. There’s a plug in mulcher which shreds the grass rather than collecting it, which I haven’t used yet. It is fairly cumbersome to move, even without the battery. Simple to operate, and runs quiet too. The handle dismantles with a couple of knobs, rather than folding for storage as I would prefer it to.
Nothing short of miraculous.
Decided to try a battery mower when our petrol one became unreliable. Didn’t want to spend too much in case it was just not up to the job and found this.
When it arrived, pretty quickly I set about putting it together which was ridiculously easy. At this point my expectations where still on the floor I must add. The lawn was long and damp, never a good thing. Once both batteries where charged I had no choice but to give it a go.
Almost a Damascene conversion, it chewed through the lot, not faltering once. Admittedly on a med / high setting but it was very long grass. Two days later on a lower setting just as good.
Have used it mostly in pick up mode as our grass grows like crazy, however the mulching function is very good when it’s dry and not too long.
Battery life is great, usually get front and back done with one (approx 200 SqM) if not too long or one and a bit if longer or wet.
The mower is very light, easy to manoeuvre and pretty robust with a cavernous grass bag.
Highly recommend.
Ok so I have really put this mower to the test in a very large garden with slightly wet grass which was about 6-8 inches long. First up easy to
Assemble and battery slots in/out super easy.. the grass collector works again very simply and the height setting is again super simple – all of this is really impressive from an ease of use.
Next it’s power and ability to cut – yes impressed with the power output and the cutting ability even in wet grass had to unblock a few times but to be expected in these conditions per any cable mower.
41cn blade length is plenty for small and medium gardens – this garden I’m at is very large think 600-800m2
The big challenge as I would expect with any battery operated mower is battery life. I have 1 x 2ah 1 z 2.5ah and a 1 x 4ah. I’d say the 2ah lasted about 25mins the 2.5ah about 30mins and the 4ah about 40mims but in heavy grass conditions. So
If you can afford 3 battheries then invest in the 4ah if you can get one.
This garden took me about 2hrs in total with emptying the cuttings in a barrow then to
Tip in mulch area.
I’d say this is a great buy for a medium/large garden amd someone who likes the energy release of pushing this as it’s light and moves well not power driven.
For a garden our size long term options is likely to be a wider blade of 50+ and need to work out if the carbon difference of petrol vs charging 4 x batteries equates
I also have the chainsaw, hedge cutters and the large strummer ( the legs strummer is excellent)
Like many others, I did a bit of research before choosing what is my first battery mower. I am really pleased with the 41cm size. The mowers is a great size and weight. It feels well made and is easy to assemble. All battery mowers seem to have some sort of compromise so research carefully before making your choice as I think you could be disappointed if you do not. I purchased this model because of the following features –
The Pros-
The easy he cut height adjustment
The slightly larger rear wheels
Single battery power
Compact fold away
41cm cut
Ergonomic soft handle
Easy manoeuvrability
After assembly I cut my already relatively short grass and list my initial perceived negatives-
Cons –
Lowest height setting not very short( as commented on by another reviewer but not really a problem to me as I think grass is better cut a little longer unless you want a bowling green!)
Grass collection box , although great being collapsible for storage, seem a little flimsy
To summarise, I think it’s a great mower and would definitely recommend anyone considering such a machine to consider it. It’s very early days for me but I think it will prove to be a good choice. I would have given 5 stars if the grass box had been better made and the lowest cut lower( for the benefit of those who would prefer a tighter cut)
UPDATE!!
Like many products, it is now 100 cheaper just a couple of months after I made my purchase!! i have bought the excellent hedge trimmer from the same Greenworks family and want to purchase the chain saw and other items but I will be looking closely at the prices before I do !!
With fields to 3 sides my garden is more of a flint riddled, mole hill infested, bumpy, sloping heath than Kew Gardens…mowers here don’t get an easy ride and whilst my old petrol driven Power Devil is hanging in there it only starts with easy start and more rips the grass out than cuts it these days. The idea of a leccy mower appealed (no petrol fills/oil changes/carb strip downs!) but the price didn’t.
Took the plunge at 210 with 2 x 40Ah batteries, charger and mulching attachment on a Black Friday deal as reviews were good – first chance to use was last week with second cut today.
Assembly was straight forward but the thin metal and plastic used along with sometimes vague instructions do give an impression of cheapness. On the plus side it has well thought out features such as easy grass box attachment, folding handle with quick release levers (though these don’t exude quality) and easy battery access.
Changing the cutting height isn’t obvious although this wasn’t helped by the red push-fit plastic indicator toggle having broken off – this was fixed with a cable tie through the hole to indicate height. Changing height raises and lowers all four wheels and isn’t required separately on each wheel as some do.
Although the listing says upto 600 sqm it’d have to be billiard table smooth and only in need of a top cut trim to get anywhere near that, with approx 370 square meters of wilderness to keep under control I’d scheduled a tea break half way through to recharge the batteries (the mower’s, not mine…) so with height set to 4 (second highest) out of 5 off we went for the first cut. Push a button, pull the lever and the motor spins to life. It’s not whisper quiet but then a 4 stroke 150cc with a blown exhaust certainly isn’t…
First impressions was the lightness – it must be half the weight of the old metal decked petrol mower, easy to maneuver and work in and around bushes, trees etc. No need for self propel drive that was a requirement for a petrol driven replacement.
After approx 25 mins you can hear the motor straining on the longer grass before it finally gives up, quick change of battery and 25 mins later what was a pasture now resembled something under control! A new record as it normally takes 90+ mins, a tank of fuel and I’m covered in dust at the end. Same experience today on height #3 (halfway).
In total I reckon I cleared 3 or 4 heaped wheelbarrows of grass on both batteries before they expired, it’ll be interesting to see what happens when things really get growing later in the summer and how long the batteries last as they wear. I always leave rechargeable batteries a good 15 minutes to cool after use before putting on charge, each 2Ah battery takes about 40 mins to charge from flat to full. I’ve yet to try the mulching attachment and how that’ll affect mowing or battery life; likewise durability, availability and cost of spares like batteries, blades, grass boxes etc is yet to be seen.
So in summary it’s well designed, light, quiet, efficient and 2 cuts in it seems to do the job. Even the gamekeeper next door was impressed!
On the downside it won’t get you anywhere near 600 sqm of advertised coverage and being plasticy I can’t see it lasting the distance as long as my old 85 petrol mower but I’m pleasantly surprised and with no filling, servicing, or mechanics expected I’m happy at this price point.
This is the first battery lawn mower I’ve owned so its taken me some time to pick one and I can say I’m impressed.
At first the batteries come half charged and I initially tried to cut the lawn with one. It didnt finish half of it so make sure you charge them before you try to use them. After I charged the batteries and used it for the second time it was great. It cut my lawn easily on one battery with half left, which was more then enough to plug in their battery strimmer and use the remaining battery for that. Even after strimming, it still had half of charge left. My grass was pre cut from last time but wet and it is a thick fertilised lawn. I also use it on the mulching function, which will most certainly put more strain on the blades and battery.
My lawn isn’t level either its got bumps and divots in it all over so its had its work cut out. It does bog down a little but not enough to stop it cutting the grass. Although my mains corded one, which was a bosch used to bog down on some areas.
First impression was very quiet. Unbelievably quiet actually. It is however very heavy. Mine being the 41cm one. Don’t expect light weight my bosch one although mains powered and only 36cm, was alot lighter and I’m a young bloke.
I’m yet to use the bagging system but I have no doubt that will work fine. I mainly bought it for the mulching and being battery operated.
My lawn size is around 11m x 7m so not a bad size lawn and I’m not discharging a full 2.0amp hour battery and I have two!
The pictures are after I cut the lawn on setting 3. It has 6 settings. I’m more then happy with that length. I dont want it really short as I have a dog.
The only thing I was disappointed by was the fact it doesnt have a roller, that would of been a nice finish to this machine.
If your looking for a battery lawn mower this might be the one for you.
Performed well on my uneven allotment paths and spaces.
This was delivered very promptly. It is a bit heavier than I expected, but not excessively so. It went together easily with reasonable instructions in the usual pictorial form. I find this type of instructions rather difficult at times, but as there was not much to actually do it was fine.
So, I charged the battery and set forth on my allotment to mow the surrounding paths and areas nearby. There was some quite long grass which required cutting on the higher setting and then again on a lower setting. But this was no more of a problem than using a petrol mower in the same situation.
The grass collector took a really good amount of grass and I didn’t have any problem with it overfilling and dropping cuttings on the ground. I haven’t used the mulching accessory so I have no opinion about that.
Changing cutter height is OK but it feels like it might not work well for long. We will see.
Battery life was maybe not as long as I would like, though I did challenge the machine with some fairly long grass.
I think the life will be fine for my uses, so long as I don’t neglect the mowing. If necessary I would be happy to purchase a second battery.
The charger was sufficiently rapid. I do find the odd little red safety “plug thing” a bit strange. Easy to lose as other reviewers have noted.
All in all I am very pleased with my purchase. Price-wise it is reasonable compared with some other more well known brands. But I didn’t want to spend loads of money for a device to use on my allotment. So a good compromise.
Would I recommend it to others? Yes, so long as you don’t need to cut a lot of heavy, long grass. But considering this is a “lawn mower” I thought it did very well on my sloping and uneven allotment paths.
I got this just before winter set in so I’ve only just got around to using it in earnest. I’m very pleased with it. It’s light and far quieter than a petrol mower. The battery life is impressive and they charge quickly so, by swapping the two batteries over in the charger and the odd rest, you can more or less keep mowing all day long if you needed to.
It cuts just as well as a corded or petrol mower but never runs out of petrol or cuts through the cable or requires a superhuman effort to get it started. You just have to get used to pressing the button and pulling the bar (in the opposite order to a petrol mower 🙂 and you’re off.
I did have a problem at the outset. To cut a long story short, one of the batteries was faulty and it took out the charger. (Though they are amazing compared with older types of battery, lithium ion batteries are still a relatively new technology and can have their teething problems.) But I got in touch with Tools4Garden and they promptly replaced the faulty battery and dead charger with no fuss. Everything is now working perfectly and I’d never go back to petrol or using a cable mower.
Yes, It easy to assemble and is manoeuvrable, Fairly lightweight.
The battery lasts for two fairly large lawns before needing to make the change.
If you want to give the grass a short ,well trimmed cut This is NOT the machine to do it.
I lowered the cut to position one and was immediately disappointed, It has left the lawn looking like it needs another cut
Again if you like a striped finish, there is no back roller to do that.
I read the ‘Best ten cordless Mowers report’ where it was one of the top
I really expected better than this
Having said all this, it is a great machine.
True, is is a really nice mower and if you don’t mind your lawn looking like a well kept meadow, then its for you
If you want a smaller lawn area looking professionally short,
Look elsewhere
Just get your priorities right.
The picture shows the difference between an old mower and the cordless one.
Did some research and bought this. Liked the idea of 2 batteries supplied, have one ready to go in use whilst another is charging. Assembly was easy.
Very lightweight compared with the petrol mower I was replacing. 1st use the grass was long and my large lawn the 1st battery ran out just 2 rows to go so swapped the battery. Next few mows have only used about 3/4 of one battery so owning 2 might be overkill!
After switching from a petrol mower the first thing that hits you is how light it is. Then when you start it – boy it’s quiet!! Also where my petrol mower would stall often in long grass this kept going and going. No need for the shoulder wrenching pull cord here!
The cut is superb. I’ve decided to keep the mulcher in and not use the basket grass collector. The grass does seem to disappear with some initial clumping after the first cut due to the length. Subsequent cuts and the amount of loose grass left on the lawn is diminished to virtually nil within 2 weeks. Height adjustment is easy and very happy with the lowest setting – certainly wouldn’t want to cut the grass any shorter than that.
I think it is well built, sturdy and strong. Easy to use. Very light and quiet. Very pleased with the battery life and the ease of charging.
I looked around a lot before getting this. It is light as it is plastic and no ‘steel deck’ that more expensive models have. Time will tell if this is a problem but the lightweight nature makes mowing so easy.
The blade is not as long as more expensive models meaning more trips up and down the garden. Weigh this up against the ease of mowing and for me it wins hands down.
I mowed 180m square metre garden (almost exactly 10 m by 18 m) draining half a 2 amp battery each time. Once I did a long cut after the winter and then a shorter cut straight afterwards and the battery had no lights when pressed but equally did not run out.
I had a self propelled petrol mower which died from lack of maintenance and this mower is so much easier. My garden is on a slope – not extreme – but this represented no difficulty.
The cut goes very low if needed and is very easy to adjust as it is spring loaded – to low for me to use as I have a poorly maintained moss filled lawn.
You can easily see how full the bag is by lifting the plastic flap a little – no need to remove bag to see.
There is a one second delay on starting as the blade gets up to speed but this is really very short and hardly noticeable.
If cutting a thick long patch the motor struggles as did my petrol mower but if you go slowly through it it copes well – not great for the lawn I know.
Folding the mower arm really is as easy as it looks.
Note hat the model I bought had no batteries or charger – I already had them.
In summary I am really pleased I got this as mowing is so much easier and the power seems more than adequate.
