Performance wise this things hard to beat at the price

The only thing that’s a bit annoying is the menu system but it’s mostly set and forge

4.0 out of 5 stars Wish I bought one years ago

The only moan is the plastic key used to change setting could easily get lost.

Initially I had problems getting the bits to correctly connect, getting error messages. I followed the instructions exactly, there is a knack to doing this and there was a very useful instruction on a forum. I have no difficulty now, so it may have been newness of fitting clearances. Do not use force, this is quite a fragile precision instrument. There are many more accessory bits, the 4 provided will do most amateur SMD requirements. I thought it was a bit pricy, have to see how long it actually lasts. I will check back in 2 years time and update if allowed.

Cost more than the other dozen or so soldering irons I have had put together, but worth it in my opinion.
Very fast heat up and recovery time, and very accurate temperature control. The heating element is in the tip itself, not the iron, resulting in the very high performance. Additional features include selectable sleep times to increase tip life, temperature offsets if you require very precise temperature and others. I’m very pleased. Very well made too, Japanese quality.

I was torn between this and the cheaper 888d. If you are just soldering, the 888d is a solid choice. If you may need the separate micro pencil soldering iron (for chip level small component soldering) then this unit will work well as it will plug straight in. Best of all, these hold a lot of value, so if you find you are not using it in the future, you can easily get 60-70% of your money back by selling it as used.

Moved from my T100 and have not looked back.
