    Elektra compatible
Bought this after seeing it installed at a friends. Decided to install mine and it has been smooth to do so after watching a few videos on YouTube. Awesome price, and so life saving. I don’t have to leave it on all night, wake up sweating in the middle of the night as now I can do it all from my phone or just have it set for the perfect temperature. And I can see the savings on my bill, already paid itself

Adaptable, but not without its disadvantages
I moved from a Honeywell Lyric that had no Alexa function to the Hive system.

Unfortunately I’ve had to mark the tech support down as no instructions were included in the pack and therefore, I had to look on line for wiring diagrams and YouTube videos. I know a bit about wiring, but not enough to do without a wiring diagram. The difficulty faced was the grey and black wires in ports A and B. Once I figured out the wire in A went in 1 and the wire in B went in 3 then the job was pretty easy. I’m on a combi boiler so it’s pretty straight forward. However, if you don’t know about wiring and you have multizone or heating and hot water, then I suggest you get a heating engineer in as links to terminals may have to be made.

Hive has manual geofencing only, this means that it only sends you texts to say to switch your heating off or on when you’re at a certain distance, whereas the lyric does this automatically. Whether this feature is an advantage or disadvantage depends on your point of view. Personally, I found geofencing quite annoying in the end as

    1) your house is usually warmer than the outside anyway if you have good insulation, so you’re eating energy getting it up to the required temperature.

    2) scheduled timing would automatically switch your gas off anyway.

    3) you’d have to switch the geofencing off, if you weren’t going out that day, otherwise the gas stayed on

The Lyric wasn’t user friendly. If you had a power cut, or switched the boiler off for the summer, you had to go through the most arduous set of steps to reconnect with the system. The Hive is much easier to connect up. However, it takes 24 hours for hive to notice the new account (or it did in my case) if you haven’t had an engineer come and fit it.

The Hive has more abilities than the Honeywell, including security cameras, alarms and lights. In time I will build up my system. Once you get use to it, it’s easy to programme heat schedules and you’re able to have more heat schedules during the day than the lyric. The thermostat collects finger prints, but is a lovely looking device.

A pretty good system, shame about the geofencing.

Fantastic and works with Apple HomeKit and Siri
This works like a charm, and does not need to be installed on the wall in case you want to move the thermostat around rooms as I do. Very easy to install – I had a friend do it. Works perfectly with Apple HomeKit and Siri, although not really stated in the description here.

Works well and good customer suppo
This was installed by my plumber, really convenient as I can control it remotely. Since had to contact customer support as was logged off the account, but all was super helpful. Cannot imagine not having this! Recommend

I have had to wait a month since buying this for my plumber to come and fit it to the boiler, but done 2 days ago. It’s brilliant, so much better than the Worcester original controller. It also seems to be more accurate and controls the heating better. Very impressed, wanted on for over five years and now have one up and running.

Wish I had bought it soone
I got a thermostat from Worcester Bosch a few years ago but regretted it and wish I had got a Hive or Nest. I couldn’t make up my mind what one I wanted so kept putting off buying one. I ended up choosing this Hive and I do not regret it. I got it installed by a local company for 90. It was installed within an hour and is working as it should. No problems. I am delighted with it. I especially like the boost button which is why I decided on the Hive and also because the controller has batteries in it. I did not want something else to plug in. I bought the lovely stand for it and can easily move it around.

    Easy to set up
Very simple to wire in for a novice, just phograph the unit you are replacing, and wire in the hive unit.

Very easy to set up with Alexa, although had no need to use it yet as in the middle of British summertime.

I have registered mine with an email address in the name of my street address, with a generic password, that way if we ever move, and I leave the hive unit, it can be used by the new owners with no issues.

Nice bit of kit. Got it installed and glad I did as the setting up of the phone app proved a lengthy job which took nearly as long as connecting up to the boiler.

    Easy control of your heating
Easy to install as a DIY-er. The thermostat provides pretty comprehensive and easy-to-use control over the central heating. And that control is extended and even easier using the associated app. Managed to buy it on a flash deal. Thoroughly recommended.

    Simples
Having struggled with a different, more expensive, control system since our new heating system was installed, I bit the bullet and ordered a Hive kit with Alexa Dot. I was apprehensive as I began the install procedure, anticipating glitches along the way. I need not have worried as the hub detected the receiver, the thermostat, the Alexa Dot and my smart phone with hardly any input from me. A quick test showed that all were working properly and have continued to do so. Money well spent.

A very convenient helpful system to any home.
The thermostat unit, receiver etc are very neat units and when mounted in their respective locations they look the part. The installation process is reasonable simple although integration can be a bit more involved. However I was able to connect the system without tech support. Excellent.

Brilliant piece of kit. Not had any issues with it. Just don’t order thru British Gas, what a nightmare!
I actually fitted this myself, it was really easy.
I can access it thru my iPhone my Apple Watch and Alexa. Perfect for someone who works outdoors and wants to come to warmth lol

Absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. Works great with alexa but I love the app on my phone. It’s so great to be able to put your heat on no matter were you are just in time for you coming home.
I wished we’d bought one a lot sooner.

So far it’s a great tool. I keep the thermostat in baby’s room to regulate and it gives me great peace of mind.

Hoped that the screen would stay on and visible across the room but you have to press the centre button to get the display up. Other than that gives great control over hearing and the app is grea

Really good and makes your home even more homely.
It’s ideal and I do believe it saves you abit of money as you can control it from anywhere in the house. I wake up in the morning to a cold house and say three words ‘Alexa Heating on’ and boom the boiler is firing up. Then when I leave my house I say ‘Alexa Goodbye. I don’t think it’s lazy just makes things easier and simpler. I like it and it suits me to a tea just wish I had bought it sooner.
I only use the manual setting and don’t use the programme setting so can’t comment on that. But if you have an Echo or similar it works very well. And a smart phone for when your away from home and want to come home to a warm house or turn off the heating ideal. I like it.

Hive Thermostat is convenient and easy to use
Good system much more accurate and easier to use than my previous wireless thermostat. The app to control the system remotely is really convenient to and simple.
The Hive Hub is connected by ethernet cable to the router, not wifi so need to be located near the wifi router, but the thermostat control can be anywhere. The Hub is a bit of a faff to set up but easy to use once its set up.

Voice activated heating with Alexa - what more would you need?
Easy to physically install, a bit of a faff to get the hub paired with my phone and thermostat (most of that might be me not reading the instructions properly first time though). Once it’s paired though, it’s excellent. Install the Hive skill on Alexa and tell her the temperature – it’s the lazy man’s dream. There’s an app for your phone and (on my Apple Watch anyway) and app on your smart watch. I’m at work now and I could quite easily turn the heating off to save on the energy bills. I won’t though as the Mrs would be less than pleased at the heating going off.

    Decent, responsive and good quality.
Easy to install. Delivered on time. Alexa control is hit and miss. She usually just tells me the temp outside lol.
Packaged well with clear instructions. I purchased this to replace an old wireless Siemens thermostat.

The thermostat looks nice and is high quality, but for the price they really could throw in a stand with it (they probably cost about 1 to produce). I use the battery powered function which allows me to move it around my house.

The hub is small and connected easily. Nicely hidden away next to my router.

The receiver was the most difficult part as it needed wiring. Thankfully my old receiver only had 4 wires so it was an easy switch. Seems very responsive and responds from long distances (my house is quite big and there are no black spots).

Functionality so far, I’m only using it with the thermostat and phone controls. I think to get the most out of the hub, you need to purchase the radiator valves. They are stupidly expensive so I won’t be doing that. With those, you can turn the temp down in different rooms, which is how I imagine you would be able to save as much money on your heating as hive claim you can.

Hive, you need to make a cheaper version of those thermostats. There is no way people can afford to install them on all their radiators.

A bit oakwood to pair the hub and wireless thermostat. Needs to be done at the same time.

Very easy to install - even though I was missing my installation instructions!
Received the item quickly and had no problem installing myself – replacing a British Gas WR1 Wireless receiver.
Only complaint is that there were no installation instructions included, which was odd because I had watched some unboxing videos on YouTube and that showed detailed instructions with wire labels etc. No idea why they weren’t in any of the boxes.

Pack includes the thermostat, receiver and hub – so everything you need for an install. I have a combi boiler so only needed the heating control “active heating” version.

The most involved part of the install was replacing my BG WR1 receiver with the hive receiver, was expecting to need to do some simple wiring, but the hive is a straight swap with the WR1 so could use the existing backplate and wiring. It took me about 5 mins to swap them.

The hub you just need to plug in power and an ethernet cable to your router – another 2 min job.

The thermostat leads you through the pairing and heating programme setup, which probably took me about 5 mins.

So, all in all, very easy to install yourself so, unless you have a more complicated setup I really wouldn’t pay for the install – it took me less than 30mins including unboxing, installation and setup.

Easy to fit if you know how.
I’ve never fitted one of these before, but have a healthy interest in everything DIY, electrical etc, so, I thought I’d dive it a go.
I must say, it took me around 15 to 20 minutes to fit and set up, very easy. It t has a schedule which is very to set up, and once you set the times and temperatures you’re happy with for every Monday, you copy and paste them in to the rest of the week, easy!
I used to have a Netatmo thermostat, but unfortunately it stopped working after a year, due to someone I think putting a virus in their system. Anyway, I digress. This system is very nice and easy in every department, and would definitely recommend it.

    This works!
Luckily the integration with my boiler was a straight like for like fit, however if you don’t know how to do this you will need an electrician. Overall after a years worth of use I’m happy with this!

    Just the ticke
his is the best heating controller i have used,
it was easy to install ,normal power and to extra wires, check YouTube for how to videos
Alexa integration could be better as she cant use boost feature and you cant just say Heating on , you have to say set heating to 20 degree , on the whole though very good
i would definitely recommend this produc
