The following should answer some common questions about our bulbs.
What is Colour Temperature (Degrees Kelvin °K)?
This is one of the most important aspects of the bulb – you are afterall looking for a bulb that simulated daylight. Colour Temperature refers to the colour variation of the light (the colour of the light) and is measured in degrees Kelvin. In lighting this scale ranges from the flame of a candle at around 2,000°K to deep blue sky at around 10,000 Kelvin. In simple terms the colour a bulb emits is “warmer” (red/yellow) at low temperatures and “colder” (blue) at high temperatures and white (daylight) in the middle. For a bulb or tube to be classified as “daylight” it will have a colour temperature of between 4,000 Kelvin and 7,000 Kelvin. It is commonly accepted that a colour temp of 5,000 Kelvin to 6,500 Kelvin gives the closest reproduction of natural sunlight. A standard bulb you would buy for everyday use is around 2,700 Kelvin. The iBoutique daylight bulbs are rated at 6,500 Kelvin.
What is Colour Rendering Index (CRI)?
This is how colours appear under a light source. Natural sunlight has a CRI of 100, this displays all colours perfectly. It is best to have an artificial light source with a CRI of 80 or more for task lighting. The iBoutique daylight bulbs are rated at 85 CRI.
What are Lumens?
Lumens (lm) are the measurement of the total amount of “visible” light from the bulb. The higher the number of lumens the more the light output. The amount of lumens emitted by a light source (bulb) is determined by the wattage of the bulb and the lighting technology used. Lumens represents the true brightness of a light bulb and NOT the wattage of a bulb. The light from an incandescent bulb is produced by an electrical charge in the metal filament inside the bulb. This produces both light and a lot of heat. Fluorescent bulbs are more efficient as their light source does not rely on the heating of a filament. Therefore these bulbs low energy. The light from a fluorescent bulb or tube is produced from a series of reactions between different elements, primarily phosphor. A traditional incandescent bulb provides around 10 lumens per watt. therefore a 100 watt bulb will give between 1,000 Lumens. A compact flourescent bulb provides between 40 to 70 Lumens per watt. The iBoutique daylight bulbs are rated at 30W but are the equivalent to a 150W traditional incandescent bulb (i.e. consume only about 20% of the energy).
What are the fittings of the bulbs?
The standard light bulb fitting which you use in lamps in the UK is Bayonet. It is usually referred to however as B22 or BC. We also supply an Edison Screw variety. It is usually referred to as ES or E27.

This is the first time I have used this brand and so far am very pleased with this product, indeed I have found it, thus far, to be better the the others in brightness. I can’t comment yet on energy efficiency or longevity as I have only had it a couple of weeks.
I have only had the lightbulb for a week which I have used in our garage.
It is much brighter than our previous bulb therefore we are very pleased with this product which gives plenty of light in a large garage.

This was a surprise! Firstly I should have checked the size because they’re quite voluminous! But I changed where I was going to put them and they are lovely. Highly recommend. I moved into a fairly dark flat and the energy was bringing me down. So I went from lights that draw down to lights that uplift and it’s a whole new place with a much better energy.
This is a great Daylight producing bulb for the Home or Workspace.
The light from these bulbs is completely different to traditional bulbs and really does mimic sunlight. It’s much better for reading/sewing and doesn’t strain the eyes. The bulb is extremely bright, and found that it didn’t work in a ceiling light but is now in situ on a high landing where it really does look like the sun is shining. Ordered same bulb with screw fitting for standard lamps with deeper shades and they work brilliantly. Would definitely recommend them.
Great for getting your mind ready at 5am in the morning.
I automatically go moody blues in the winter months and this has helped alot better then a lamp

This was for.my son’s room, he is partially sighted and works from home, he has been struggling with glare from his monitors on gloomy days. This bulb is brilliant, a soft but very bright light, it has even lifted his mood. So pleased with the bulb and will be ordering more.
This is a wonderful bulb. Turning it on is like turning on the sun. You are bathed in a bright, clear light. Nice spiral design, too. It also seems to light up faster than other fluorescent. Instant mood-brightener compared to the usual weak, yellow light of the average English bilb.
Just got it so can’t speak to the energy efficiency or longevity. Measured energy efficiency is less than equivalent LED.

These are genuinely the brightest white bulbs I’ve seen in the UK of this kind. They take a couple of minutes to fully brighten up. But they have lightened up my evenings. Pure bright white light, not something you easily get in the UK. Thanks for selling the product.
This is a great bulb. Has really helped me when working from home. My eyes used to be tired by mid afternoon when the outside light started to fade but this has now gone. Wish I’d bought one months ago.
I use these in all the bedrooms and living rooms. They really seem like daylight. My daughter andI hate the dull light in the winter and the winter makes us gloomy.these lights are excellent and last a long time.
Just what I need whilst working from home. The bulb reaches peak brightness within seconds unlike my old bulb that took a few minutes. Reducing eye strain too as this bulb floods the room with a more natural white light. Very pleased and will buy again.

Anyway will see if this one goes through… Great light, super bright for the 30w. I have in hallway and it really gives a nice natural hue. Does take a good few seconds at least to properly warm up although when switched on still very bright.

If you want to bring the daylight into your room, please do not hesitate to buy this light bulb! I only bought one at the beginning as a test. Now that I saw how good it is, I’ve ordered other 3 (basically I have got one in each of my bedrooms!). It helps a lot during the winter time in London when it looks like it’s midnight at noon 😛
I bought the iBoutique 30W Edison Screw (E27) Energy Saving Light Equivalent Output 150 Watts light last week and we love it. our rooms have become brighter and especially for kids (who don’t have to strain their eyes with yellow bulbs)

I spend some time knitting and reading. This light bulb In a standard lamp next to my favourite chair is a great help!. ‘Normal’ bulbs seem so dull in comparison now.
I had a darkroom that I am converting into a study. I was struggling to work from my home office (created at start of the pandemic and used for the last 9 months) as it was at the rear of my house and as such was getting little natural light. Since changing to this bulb I have been able to concentrate more and work longer without taking a break to wander the house needlessly.
Can’t speak too much for longevity as I have only recently starting using but I, for sure, would recommend.

A bit of a life saver after the UK switched to super weak lighting for energy regulations years ago, which I would of probably lost my mind or worse if I had to use all this time,
I wish it was a little on the warmer tone but can’t complain for the strength of lumination, I also notice that my plants seem to respond during the autumn winter months and start to perk upwards towards the light,
In no way is it a substitute for Sunlight, but until humans invent indoor lighting which perfectly emulates sunlight like you use for your pet birds with UV bulbs, it is the only alternative for me, and especially if you live in grey UK!

Does what it says on the tin! Really does give a daylight glow and brightened up a spare room currently being used as an office. Liked it so much I ordered another 2 for a lounge/dining room which is also being used as an office. Great delivery. Very fast.
The colour of the light emitted does seem more representative of daylight and so far my husband and I are happy with our purchase.
We have only just purchased the item and really don’t feel that we should be able to realistically comment on the energy efficiency and longevity until a few months of usage.
This is incredibly bright, at night time it is like sitting with the curtains open on a sunny day. Outside your house will look weird though, I had this in the front of the house but it just looked like I was growing weed so it is now utilised in the kitchen. I am sure this would be great for work environments where you need clear, bright light.
I have only purchased this in March 2020 and it is on all night and much of the day as it’s a no window area of the kitchen / Worksop for my partner who makes jewellery and leather work at weird times of the day / night. Normal lights do not compare with the ‘clean’ light that is from this Daylight build, I have had daylight bulbs before and this is much better. Thank you.
This bulb is fantastic, I absolutely love it. I make sensor blankets for altzimers and work most of the day and night. I was finding my eyes getting very sore and so decided to buy 2 daylight bulbs from you. I couldn’t believe the light it’s brilliant like being outside. I’ve tried 55w spirals that cost me 11, and were shoddily made. This is very well made, and bright as the sun. It really is something else. It’s also very good for lighting grow tents, for “chillies” and whatnot. Highly recommended. The light intensity really does hit you. Highly recommended. I’ve had it on for about 10 hours a day for the last couple of months. No problems at all.
The light bulb I received works amazingly and has definitely helped improve the lighting in my rooms extremely well. So much that I can see my home with its true colours and a good quality light bulb is very important part of your home, and I would recommend this specific bulb to everyone. It looked great, unfortunately I ordered the wrong fitting.
Amazon agreed a return arranged for the next day through hermes, 2 days later its still sitting on my sideboard.
So I ordered the same only in screw in form. now fitted, when i switch it on it lights up. just what i wanted really, 10/10.
I wanted a bulb to replace some daylight bulbs that just don’t give me enough light, but I didn’t want something that would give me a headache after a while. Apparently I chose the right one.
This bulb is bright- I’ve had brighter so I can’t say it’s the brightest there is- and it does seem to illuminate in a reasonably close to daylight spectrum. This is important to me as I am using it for painting.
I did expect the light to be much bluer than it is. This is not “warm” as such, more of a neutral.
It definitely works for my purposes. It’s plenty bright enough for most uses and not harsh enough to hurt the eyes.
So at least today, on my first day using it, I can say this is a fantastic bulb and I am very happy that I chose it.
Love these bulbs. Bought one 6 years ago for bedroom as Sad sufferer and it’s still going strong! Super bright just like you opened the blinds!!!
Just bought 2 more one for the study and one for the lounge that doesn’t get my light so needed a boost in there now we have a little one crawling around!
Bought it for my cockatiel. Put it in the ceiling socket, and he noticed it straight away, very bright hard sort of light. and the bird checked it out a few times. He has his favourite perching spots in his cage, and now he has a new one, in a direct line to the bulb. Cockatiels are very intelligent birds, and while he hasn’t ‘worked out’ anything about the bulb, maybe he senses that there is some benefit coming from it. (vitamin)
I bought these for an outside light after checking they would fit OK dimension wise. The 30W means that the bulb will work OK in most lamp type lights like mine and keep running costs fairly low. However the actual brightness is very significantly increased to the 150w. It lights up the whole of my front porch all night really bright !
I’m now on my second bulb … the first lasted around 2 years as an outside light after constant nightly use all year round and in all weather conditions.
I bought these bulbs for my living room, we keep the blinds closed during the day for privacy. I had the light on at around 3 o’clock, needed the light for a home project. Time got away with me and it was soon half 6, I didn’t even realise it had gone dark out! The lights are so natural they really bright up the place, but they also show off dust that you might not of noticed. I highly recommend these bulbs.
Very fast delivery. Just what I needed I can’t tell as good is as I’m not used jet but otherwise great.
As with all these bulbs, it loses the 5th star for not being able to use in a dimmer.
The demise of the traditional filament bulb has left a gap where bulbs can be energy efficient and used in a dimmer fitting.
Purchased this several months ago. Still producing a very bright, pure clean light. Even if the bulb went now (and there’s no sign of that I would still make another purchase. I’m a a very satisfied customer. I’ve given 5 stars for longevity but realise that I can’t know its full longevity until it fails – In other words, so far so great.
I love the light colour, and have an adaptor to fit many of these into one socket for a very daylit room.
Small issue though, the last set I bought, one began to flicker occasionally after a few months. I have bought 8 in total now, but only one had slight issues.
I would imagine this is a good light for people who suffer seasonal affective disorder otherwise known as sad
If you are used to a warm colour bulb this bulb will be brighter than you are used to and the light has no warmth but if you require the kind of light that approximates daylight this is probably the nearest you will get and if you require light that does not show objects with a false Hugh example clothes etc or maybe photography this is perfect

Arrived quickly. Very bright but takes a few seconds to reach peak. A strong blue-white very cold light for indoors but with other ambient lighting it feels good. Just right for a dark, gloomy winter if this affects you. Can’t comment on energy savings or longevity yet. Cheapest of this type. I’m happy with it.
I got my first one 21 months ago, as of writing this, to use as a grow light for my succulent plants and have it on 10-12 hours a day. It’s still working great and is extremely bright. The actual light my room seem dim in comparison when the timer that I set up shuts the lights off for the night. All the plants under theses lights are very happy and I haven’t had any issues with them not getting enough light since.
When i heard about this lightbulb, i was quite a skeptic. I didnt think it would do much but for the price I thought there was no harm in trying. So i ordered one for my sister and I. The Installation was pretty straightforward and it worked immediately.
First impression: damn was it bright. I initially thought i made a mistake cause my sister also suffers from migraines and i thought this would trigger it. After a few months now, it hasn’t affected her at all. We got used to the brightness pretty quickly and I’ve noticed a positive improvement in both my sister’s and I’s mood. I would definitely recommend purchasing this product!*

I can imagine this will help with general mood, can’t see how it would be a bad thing as long as it doesnt give me headches. Very glad I bought it, feel happier just being in a room where everything isnt dull (its a bit of a typical dull autumn/winter day out right now).
They really do make a difference. Our moods have improved and it also make the room so much more inviting.
One problem we have though are they don’t last thAt long. I bought two on 13th Dec installed 14th and today 20th July my second bulb has blown. So need to order again.
It might he the old wiring in the house but I’m not sure.
Other than that I do recommend these bulbs.
Was a little dubious at first, bought to help with my SAD. When it arrived it scared the life out of me. It’s a very white light, sort of eerie, I hated being around it because of just how bright it is! After several weeks I’ve finally started to grow fond of it. It is brilliant for taking pictures under (photos under an ordinary light always seem to come out very yellow, now they look like daylight photos), it’s also very handy when cross-stitching/knitting and drawing. Definitely recommend to anyone!
Very bright and turns on instantly. It is a long and bulky bulb so check it will fit. At least twice as long as a 20W Philips Tornado bulb.
Not unique to this bulb as was the same with another CFL bulb but did not work in a motion sensor activated security light. The light constantly flickered when not activated. This does not happen with a normal bulb.
One of the best daytime bulbs on the market. The only letdown is the lifetime is no way near the 8000 hours advertised. But take that out of the equation and you still have a fantastic product. The light is bright white and helps late at night when working or studying. Once you use a Daytime bulb there is no going back to yellow bulbs. Perfect for night owls and helps those that suffer from SAD disorder.
My one lasted around 8 months. Product lifetime may vary, other reviews show it lasted anywhere from 20 hours to 4 years.
4 Stars after some debate because it is a very bright light (hard to get used to at first as it has a much bluer tint than a normal bulb) but this didn’t take long. It hasn’t however helped at all with boosting my energy, this winter has in fact been one of the worst for tiredness but then again I can’t rate the bulb less because of this, you can’t exactly rely on a light bulb to help a long term condition that medication can’t touch!
Well, what can I say? I didn’t think I suffered from SAD , but after using this beautiful light for only 4 days I have felt a great relief in depression. It takes about 2 days to feel any difference. My mood is way more stable. The lighting puts you in a good mood. It just lifts my mood. I’m impressed. At first I was finding it hard to adjust to the lighting, it just felt different in some way compared to the original orangey lights you get, but after a few days of adjustment you being to adjust to the light. It reminds me of when I go on holiday to a bright beautiful lit country. It’s takes a while to adjust. It’s a beautiful light in my opinion. Gonna order some more for my mini office and bedroom.
A very good product- very bright bulb that is useful for decorating , painting etc. Not sure if the bulb is completely effective for SAD disorder, unless the light bulb is right in front of your face, you need 10,000 lux for SAD light to work quickly . I think the bulb is slightly less than that, however i highly recommend it given the light output is excellent, a great seller too.
Just need to see how long it lasts now.
so far so good, i can’t get over how bright it is, my front room is finally in daylight all the time! ive had to have lamps in corners for years with my old energy saving bulb coz it just wasnt bright enough, but this one is fantastic!! even from the first second i pluged it in and it blinded me coz i forgot to turn off the switch lol i was impressed with its brightness, infact 10 minutes later im still seeing spots haha. love it! il be getting one for my bedroom next, as for the light spectrum helping my SAD i hope it works, it would be lovley to be a little less down over the Christmas period its always a terrible time for me. fingers crossed!!
I have bought daylight lamps in the past and have found them to be excellent for a room you use a lot especially in the winter when they really help to brighten things up on a dull day. And I have found they do help to lift one’s mood. I have not been diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder but I think I have mild symptoms – probably like a lot of people.
Having moved house recently, I found the lighting in my study/den to be rather poor with just a single centre room light fitting. I thought I would have to have to replace the light fitting with a multi-arm type at least but then I came across this high powered daylight bulb which is just the job. It really helps to brighten the room on a dull day and is silent in operation. (I have experienced buzzing in the past from some cheaper lamps of this type.)
Used in a bedroom, I find this light to be an excellent novelty, which makes many things much easier:-
Colour reproduction when painting is perfect, with no need to guess at what the colour truly looks like
Further to this, It is excellent for computing applications, as it equalises the light and the monitor, ensuring they do not appear garish
at night, and allowing the use of programs like F.lux to be unneeded.
A most definite recommendation for all computer rooms, and areas where colour appearance is required.
he only problem I had was there was a card in the package with a link that lead to a virus site infecting your pc if your not a pc geek like me you would end up taking the pc to the shop or paying the site to unlock your pc be aware of these
I wanted this for the light quality not the economy, as my eyesight is not what it was but I still repair models with very small parts. I was at first disappointed, but if you leave it on for a minute it becomes brighter until almost daylight quality. I recently discovered it is probably cheaper to leave it on all the time if I am going between rooms, as the delay in reaching full brightness can be annoying. I have extended the ceiling rose cable and fitted a white metal shade and it is great for models, reading and writing. Very pleased
We were looking to brighten up our study room as the current light levels were far too low, especially considering it gets dark around 4pm in the winter and there’s a low light level all day. We debated on getting a new tall lamp for the room and then it dawned on us to just replace the light bulbs in the current ceiling fittings! We came across these and were keen to buy bulbs that had a high Kelvin rating, so the light would be brighter in colour than ordinary bulbs.
When you first turn these on it is a strange light when compared to normal, more orange light bulbs. However, when you’re not directly comparing them you realise that they provide a bright and realistic level of light across the whole room.
I would defintiely recommend these bulbs to anyone looking to brighten up a work or reading room, but they aren’t designed to be a relaxing type of light.
Better than many other energy saving bulbs giving really bright light, puts others to shame. Takes only a short time to warm up to max brightness level. Don’t know whether it helps with mood though as that’s difficult to prove. Bought one each for myself and my son at his flat as a trial and don’t regret it so far at all but postage a bit steep if only ordering one or two. If I’d known they were so good I would have ordered more for one delivery.
Pretty much all year round my living room is dark most of the day and i need the light on to see what I’m doing. I live in a cave next to a small bridge which I look after and collect money from people if they wish to cross the bridge. I’d been using normal standard energy saving light bulbs but wasn’t happy with the yellowy glow so had the daylight bulbs recommended to me by a friend.
These bulbs instantly made such a difference! They are bright, but not glaring, not uncomfortable either. The quality of the bulbs themselves are high and they feel rugged and well made. But best of all – I can now see what I’m doing!
Some people mentioned that they noticed a flicker on the bulb. I noticed this too but but then adjusted the rotation of the bulb where it clips into the light fixing by 180 degrees and this seemed to sort it out. So might be something to do with the bayonet connection to your fixing, maybe give this a go.
There is something about the slightly blue light that makes me feel more awake. It is very bright.
I ordered this iBoutique 30w light bulb and the (the Long Life Lamp Company) 35w/175w Energy Saving – they are both excellent value bulbs. I only use the iBoutique bulb on days when there is no light at all due to thick dark clouds, as the bulb is as stated ‘daylight’ bright…but for me the daylight bright bulb is too cool to have on for too long, so after using the iBoutique during the day, I use the warmer tones of the Long Life Lamp, which for the 35w, also gives out an excellent level of brightness, albeit a warmer tone. I recommend both bulbs
I hate dim light and have been buying ordinary bulbs online since they stopped being available in the shops. I went to a friends house the other day and was blown away by the ” clear white light” exactly what I have been searching for . I got it delivered quickly and fitted it. I knew it was the white light instead of the warm white, so if you want the warm light, this is not the one. It is truly bright. I only gave it 4 as one part of the grade will be long life of which I know nothing about yet. I am very pleased with the light, I measured the colour temp to 6100K so slightly cooler than the 5500K lights out there for filming.
This bulb has been a godsend for me for 3 reasons:
1) It’s nice a bright and is about as close to daylight as you can get from a bulb.
2) The shade/colour is lovely. It’s lovely and white with a slight shade of blue. It’s very pleasant to sit in, particularly for reading. I find it much more pleasant to sit in for long periods over normal “yellow” energy-saving bulbs.
3) I find I get miserable in the winter, and this bulb makes winter much more bearable, particularly with the gloomy days and the darker nights drawing in.
So while the bulb might be slightly more expensive than most, I can’t recommend it enough, particularly if you find the gloomy days of winter get you down.
Bulb failed after about a month and a day and very little use. Because the failure was outside the month I had to make a enquiry through Amazon support. Response was pretty immediate with agreement to send out new bulb.
New bulb has already had more use than the old one in the month I’ve had it. Hoping the first one was just faulty and that these bulbs aren’t more prone to fail than the 150W tungsten bulb it replaces. Certainly a step in the right direction that energy saving bulbs with this output are available. Is bright as the 150W bulb and perhaps feels more so because of the daylight colour balance.

Brilliant cool illumination, a transformation if you’re used to working under normal bulbs. I put one of these in my office last year and it’s been a revelation. Everything is so well lit, you don’t realise how bad normal bulbs are until you switch to these. Less drowsiness, no more eye strain, perfect.
I may question the ‘full brightness in 1 second’ part as I’m sure mine gets steadily brighter over the first 30 seconds from cold (though it doesn’t start dim like some energy savers) and this perhaps might be too much in a bedroom setting, just sooo bright.
Also just to put this out there as I’m not sure if this is normal behaviour with these bulbs but the light flickers for a while after turning it off. For example if you leave the light on for a few hours and turn it off, it will flicker on/off for about half an hour… not very distracting or annoying for me but might be to others.
he light bulb is really good we have it in the sitting room it looks different (colour) from normal lights but I would recommend it to anyone. We can read with it you don’t have trouble reading with it like ordinary lights. It gives off a warm glow but bright everyone that comes in cant believe how bright it is
I thought the price was ridiculous for a light bulb but I was fed up of the gloom; and the other reviews were so fantastic so I held my nose and jumped. It is worth every penny assuming it lasts a while – I can’t comment on that yet.
It doesn’t even use as much electricity as an ordinary old fashioned bulb.
I’d buy one for every room in the house but my wife hates it because she can see all the dirt and dust. One man’s meat …
One thing that must be mentioned but is omitted from the product description – this bulb is not for closed compartments. Meaning that if you have to put it into the hole in your ceiling, there might be insufficient airflow to dissipate the heat, which in turn may decrease the life of the bulb or perhaps even do some damage.
This is clearly written on the box, but that part of the box is not in slides.
This is a great bulb, It is the 3rd one I have bought, they last between 9 months to 2 years, but I feel is worth the money. It lights up the whole of my room and makes the room seem less dingy even on a typically wet British day. I bought one in January, and when it would not turn on one morning and I had to put an ordinary bulb in its place I really noticed the difference. This bulb really does make you feel that the sun is shining inside A must if you need more light in your life.

The light is BRIGHT WHITE… The kitchen seems airy & fresh when on on a winter night (or shall I say 4:30pm when it goes dark outside!).
Now my yellow not-so-bright bulbs in the other rooms look exceedingly dull! I live in a terraced house (very small with small ceilings as well) so maybe to me it may be brighter than what others are saying.
I’m not sure these bulbs with such a high waltage are for ‘cosy nights in’, or for ‘relaxing’ days, but if you want them to illuminate bright light everywhere to lift your mood, then they are very good for it.
I personally would buy these for every room & hallway but the cost is too much & I am not one to just throw the old bulbs in the bin whilst they are in perfect working order.
I’ve recently taken up watercolour painting and I’ve been searching for a light that would enable me to work when the light is fading and in the evenings. I wanted something that wouldn’t cost the earth but would do the job.
I bought this bulb just to try it, not really expecting it to work well enough, but to my delight it was just what I needed. It gives a really good simulation of daylight and shows colours truly – they really do look the same next morning by real daylight! – and the translucence which is the real joy of the watercolour medium is not affected. The light is pleasant and easy to work with – not too glarey or dazzling.
An excellent buy. I’m really pleased with it and would recommend it it anyone who wants to do close work of any kind
The light from this bulb is amazing, just like daylight. It feels like a lot of strain has been lifted from evening activities since I fitted this bulb. I bought it after my parents bought one for their lounge. I have one in my lounge and one in my kitchen, now spending time in either room feels much more relaxing. The light is white, and everything looks normal, not tinged with yellow or blue. Since normal bulbs were replaced with energy bulbs I always felt my eyes were straining whenever I did anything like reading & sewing. Now it’s as easy as doing it in the daylight. Such an amazing difference! Try one of these bulbs; you’ll soon be buying more 😉
My Father-in-law (87) was having trouble reading in his lounge that had a light fitting with 3x 60 watt bulbs in. We replaced these with 2 of these 150 watt equivalent bulbs and the room is now “brighter than it has ever been” he said. Being daylight bulbs, his lounge now has the appearance of midday so he can read easily. Since they come on full strength in < 5 seconds the delays associated with the original energy saving bulbs has gone away. I brought these daylight bulbs following purchasing a similar daylight bulb for my wife to sew and knit by. As someone who brought a number of the traditional bulbs when they were being phased out. I am now converted to energy saving bulbs.
i am very pleased with my recent purchase of your iboutique 30 watt lamps, and the fast service. for several years i have put up with dim 20 watt lamps till i saw your lamps on amazon as, i was unable to do any of my hobbies in the house as the light was not good enough.With the IBoutique Lamps that come on instantly. the light being whitish it is a very good light to work with and is much more cheerful than the other dull lights, with the wall lights kept as the old low energy lamp and your lamps the main lighting. I find the colour very pleaseing and feel much better in the dark nights able to once again get on with my model making..
My wife is prone to SAD and I bought two of these lights to brighten up the kitchen and bedroom lighting.I was very impressed with the suppliers service and delivery AND customer service***One of the bulbs was damaged in the post and they IMMEDIATELY sent a replacement.THE PRODUCT:” it does exactly that it says on the tin” We are very happy with this Daylight Bulb and it has had the desired effect.It still lights-up immediately it is switched on and remains an impressive and welcome installation.10/10!
I’ve used a SAD light for years and although this is no where near as bright it’s not bad considering the money and I feel the benefit when being in the room all day with it being on and don’t have to use my SAD light as much. I would consider purchasing another one when this one expires but no replacement for a good SAD light in my opinion. Very bright light but perhaps not bright enough.
The light may seem a little cold at first but you soon get use to it.
This works. The quality of the light is amazing. I bought two; one for my home studio and the other for my son’s room where he studies. The light is cool and shows colour accurately which is very important to me. It really is like daylight and walking from the garden room with a glass roof to the studio, with no change in quality of light says it all. Getting up early in the dark this week the Daylight bulb is extraordinary and feels as though the sun is up already. The other lights in the house are so orange now, but I like the contrast. I hope it will last as long as it promises – early days. I would definitely recommend this to friends and fellow artists.
The light it gives is quite bright but only because I had got used to the poor light of the bulb it was replacing. Sewing is easier as similar colours are easier to distinguish, I can thread the sewing machine needle with ease, great for artwork & as a bonus can take clear photos for eBay true to colour & without getting glare from flash. I am looking forward to completing more projects as I will be able to comfortably work on after the light from outside fades. Also the boost from more ‘daylight’ has definitely made a difference for me.
I was never initially a fan of energy saving light bulbs when I first encountered them because they seemed to take forever to come on and when they did eventually they were just never really very bright and seemed to make a room seem very dull and gloomy so for years I resorted back to the old school standard type light bulb as they suited my needs.
After some time I started to notice that the life of these bulbs were becoming shorter and shorter to the point where I was replacing them on a regular basis so I started to look into replacing them with an energy saving equivalent that would give me the same amount of brightness with a longer life span and I discovered these 30 Watt bulbs which I did not know existed as I had never seen them in any stores.
I have bought two of these so far and very happy with their performance and the amount of light they emit. I can go as far to say that I am looking to replace all of the standard bulbs that I have currently with these energy savers which may be slightly a little more expensive than your standard bulbs but I believe in the long term it is well worth it. Now I can also help to conserve energy and be happy with the thought that the days of dull gloomy rooms are over.
I thought my living room was well lit until I put this bulb in. Now I know what well lit is! The cool tone works very well for indoor photography. And it uses a fraction of the power of a similar brightness halogen bulb.
Edit: After having the bulb for a a few months I’ve noticed it sometimes emits a barely audible whine and often rapidly blinks for hours after being turned off, which I didn’t even know was possible! In the living room this doesn’t really bother me, but I DEFINITELY would not use this light in a bedroom.
The quality of light from this bulb is far above the standard energy saver bulbs I have used. We have a small computer room/study where we had to use a normal energy saver alongside a desk lamp; since replacing the bulb with one of these, the desk lamp is no longer used and the room is brighter at night than it is during the day.
The only reason I haven’t given this a straight 5 stars is because I’ve only had it in a few weeks and can’t comment on the life of it. That said, my wife and I are really enjoying the benefits of this bulb.
Well, this light bulb is er, bright ! Takes some getting use to, it really is a different quality of light, just like having outside inside. The light given off could be considered a bit cold compared to the yellow glow of a normal bulb. When walking into a room with a normal bulb the difference is really astounding, its great for reading. Ladies please note, skin blemishes will really show up so stay away from the mirror when using this light bulb….gonna get another for the kitchen, wouldnt recommend for the bedroom as you`ll never get to sleep….overall I`m pleased, does what it says on the tin.
I have now got three of these wonderful bulbs round the home. They provide a lovely glow of sunshine wherever you put them. They have made these dark winter days an absolute joy. Really recommended for anyone who suffers from the winter blues (SAD). Mine are in the hall, my bedroom and in the living room. I also bought one for my daughter and she too uses it in her living room to great effect. I no longer dread the dark afternoons and feel these bulbs realy have made a happy difference in my life. Just as a ps. they come safely packaged and with a really quick courier. Excellent all round.
I have had similar bulbs before and been disappointed with the dim light and the fact that they have not lasted.
I tried one of these on the recommendation of a friend, and was so pleased with it I have just bought 3 more.
The colour seems a little strange until you are used to it, but it really does closely match daylight, and the brightness more than compares to the old tungsten bulbs.
My living room seems much more cheerful when I switch this on at night, and I can see to read and do delicate jobs with no trouble.
My daughter has just joined the list of converts and she is also delighted.
I wish these were available when my mother was alive as she really struggled in poor light.
An incredible amount of light for 30W. It’s far superior to cheap alternatives and a bit more compact too. Great for doing soldering work where I need really good light to see small detail. I bought some a year or so ago. One blew after about 2000 hours use (Heavy use over the cold, dull winter) & the others are getting noticeably dimmer now. Don’t believe the 8000 hour lifespan, in fact you’ll be lucky to get half that I reckon. Still very good though.
I used to have a B&Q 20W low consume light bulb that was supposed to deliver the light of the 120W of a stardard tungsten filament. The colour was a warm white that combined with the yellow walls colour was ok but with a strong yellow cast.
The new bulb is very impressive. First is shorter than the cheap ones you buy on the diy shops.
Second, the room was flooded with light like it was a sun in the room. Difficult to look at the bulb when on.
The colour is a very pleasant daylight and not cold/blue like the neon lights. My SLR camera does not protest now anymore in the auto mode without the flash as with the light of the old bulb.
Virtually now I can do much better family pictures indoors and even my camcoder show better picture(less noise).
And third, the consumption: 30W that is pretty much like a bedside lamp.
