I usually empty our bin several times a week, supposed to be a similar size. This bin only needs emptied once a week. It looks expensive and the soft close is also nice. For any worries about the sturdiness of the compacting function it comes with a 10 year warranty.

Love the pedal to open the lid if your hands are full. Also keeps the dog out of the trash LOL. Well constructed and very useful. When trash gets near the top, we just push it down using the handle provided. No overflowing trash by the time for trash pick-up.

Great idea, if you only bin soft materials like plastic and polystyrene.
Easy to use mechanism, however it is not able to easily crush anything that is not polystyrene or soft plastic. Sometimes it gets stuck too.

Jeder, der zur Miete oder in einer Anlage wohnt, kennt das Problem: zu viel Mll und zu wenig Tonnen.
Ich habe mir 2 Mll”pressen” gekauft, um den Mll zu komprimieren und dadurch besser noch in eine der entsprechenden Tonnen zu verfrachten. Klappt prima.
Mangels Alternativen habe ich die ralativ teuren Joseph Joseph gekauft, aber andererseits bin ich echt zufrieden und froh, dass ich sie jetzt habe.

Fijne en mooie afvalemmer.
Heel tevreden met mijn aankoop. Het systeem werkt en afvalemmer ziet er ook mooi uit. Levering was snel en netjes.
With my bad feet this foot pedal is wide enough that it doesn’t cause me pain. The lid is very silent and the charcoal order management is so much a must if you have a pet. Really like the design and not going to the garage room every night. Have used the compactor once so far with no ripping of the Joseph Joseph liners. Yes, this one will stay in my home.
The trash can does not hold as much trash as a cheap plastic can. I feel we are wasting trash bags because we have to switch out so often even after compacting.

Wie erwartet toll
Was soll ich sagen, super Mlleimer in den auch ein gelber Sack gut Platz hat. Leider ist der gelbe Sack ein bissel grer, dadurch wird er nicht voll. Man merkt aber trotzdem den Unterschied ohne zu pressen. Langzeittest steht noch aus. Bis jetzt klare Kaufempfehlung

After reading some earlier reviews, I was expecting an issue with peeling off the large sticker on the front of the bin and hooking in the bin bag however the sticker came off very easily in one go and the big bag was a doddle to hook on … just emptied it for the first time and despite the rubbish being compacted down, the bag came out easily without any snags. Very pleased with it!

It splits the rubbish bag when you crush it. The only way out is to only half fill the bin, but that defeats the object. Not worth 130

Das Versprechen mit 3mal weniger Mll rausbringen kommt nicht ganz hin, aber ich bin mit 2-2,5 mal weniger oft die Treppen runter auch super happy!

Trs content de mon achat et ce pendant 2 ans. Aujourd’hui le systme de retenu du couvercle est bris et la poubelle est maintenant trs bruyante lors de la fermeture. Je suis trs du sachant que le prix de cette poubelle est quand mme lev pour son usage! Je vais devoir mettre la poubelle la poubelle et acheter une autre marque qui peut durer plus de 24 mois. C’est dommage…. aucune possibilit sur leur site d’acheter les pices dfectueuses.
Je tenais corriger mon commentaire. En effet, suite une requte sur le site du fabricant, on m’a simplement chang ma poubelle trs rapidement et j’en suis ravi! Franchement le service clientle de joseph est excellent et je peux sereinement continuer acheter cette marque. Merci encore

The odour filters last about a month and are well worth it for not having that ‘bin smell’ floating around when its hot indoors. Small down side I found was with the one I bought for the recycling my councils bags are a little too small so the bag slips off when the compactor is used when it starts to fill up. Other than that its a bin and does bin things!!

Admittedly the compaction feature is a bit of a gimmick since most waste expands back up to its original size if you just compact it briefly, though I have found that if I compact overnight it does seem to do a better job. The compaction is all manual and uses the handle at the front of the bin to push down on the waste.
Fortunately, I have not yet experienced the compaction mechanism failing like some other reviewers, and it is good to know that there is a 10 year warranty on my bin should the worst happen. On an side note, be prepared to watch guests yank at the prominent compaction handle when they try and use the bin for the first time instead of using the foot pedal.
The bin has a small plastic handle around the back that helps you move the bin around if you need to, and the soft closing lid snaps into the open position for when you need to change bin bags/give the inside a clean. Cleaning the bin is very straight forward and the lid also has a little compartment to put some odor neutralizers into if you so desire. I have found that most slim pedal bin liners work well with the bin and have not had to use the Joseph Joseph originals. Regardless of what binbag you use, some care needs to be taken when removing the bags as the compaction mechanism tends to catch on bulkier bits and can cause minor tears.
My biggest gripe with the bin is the fact that the stainless steel is quite thin and has been bent over a solid plastic frame. If you put a dent in the stainless steel which can happen easily if you drop something onto the lid or even the foot pedal, there is no way to repair it from the other side thanks to the plastic. It is a shame that such an expensive product has such poor reparability/durability. For this reason I can only give this product four stars.

The odor control works very well as there is no over powering odors that come from the bin even as the trash builds up. Ich habe lange mit mir gerungen ob ich mir einen Mlleimer anschaffe der so viel kostet.
Aber da ich mich selber gerne auch mal ohne Grund belohne habe ich ihn mir einfach gegnnt. 😉
Ich muss sagen das ich mehr bekommen habe als ich erwartet habe. Das schmucke Teil war sehr ordentlich verpackt und dann auch recht schnell ausgepackt. Ich musste genau NULL zusammenbasteln sondern nur einen, mitgelieferten, Mllsack einhngen und fertig. Es passen brigens alle Mllscke mit 60 Literen Fassungsvermgen.
Ich musste mich erst an das ffnen mit dem Fuss gewhnen aber das ging erstaunlich schnell und ich mchte es auch nicht mehr anders haben. Die Fllhhe ist super gewhlt und perfekt fr mich. (mein alter Mlleimer war tiefer) Die Pressfunktion nutze ich eigentlich selten aber ich habe sie ausprobiert und sie funktioniert. Eigentlich mache ich es nur wenn ich den Mllsack raushole um das einfacher zu machen. Klappt aber ganz gut.
Was mich am meisten berrascht hat war aber die Geruchs-Sperre. So wie sie angebracht ist habe ich direkt gedacht “Das bringt doch so berhaupt nichts!”. Aber falsch gedacht! Funktioniert bestens. Ist sogar ein Ersatzfilterding dabei.
Meine erwachsenen Shne wissen ja das ich ein Spinner bin und haben sich eigentlich nur gezwungenermaen bei einem Besuch das Ding angeschaut. Aber auch diese waren berrascht und nun bin ich nicht mehr ganz so bekloppt. *wenn auch nur ein wenig 😉

Je dteste sortir les poubelles … quand on voit les prix des plus petites (50) alors autant en payer une vraiment bien qu’on va garder. Et si en plus elle me permet de sortir la poubelle moins souvent alors tant mieux ^^
En effet, une fois la poubelle pleine je compacte et je gagne bien 15-20cm. De quoi reporter un peu plus la corve et faire des conomies de sac.
Perso j’utilise des sacs lambda et non de cette marque et a fonctionne bien, pas de trou. Un peu galre la premire fois pour fixer le sac mais aprs c’est bon.

The crushers are plastic and feel flimsy, I don't used more than 30 pounds of force on them, won't crush soda cans. The ears that hold the bag let the bag ends slip out often. The can has no tapper or vacuum break, so the bags are often hard to get out or are stuck in the can.

This is a wonderful garbage can. Worth every penny. I was always the one to put my hand in the garbage to smash it down. Noone in the house would do it besides me. Well now I dont have a problem doing it anymore. Neither does my husband and kids. Awesome garbage can. The only problem in have is that I have to buy the Joseph Joseph trash bags. Regular glads dont work. Still searching for an alternative. But I highly recommend this. I’m even buying my mom on for Christmas because she loves mine so much.

I decided to buy this trash can/compactor despite reading all the negative reviews. The size fit the only spot I had for a trash can, which is in my garage, next to the door to my kitchen. I have been using it about a year now and overall have not been disappointed. I use regular trash bags (the flex kind that do not tear easily, not the type that come with the can. I do wish the compactor function was stronger (that’s the reason for the 4 stars and not 5) but I have overall eliminated at least 1 large 30 gallon bag per week using this. Just a hint I have found that helps when you have trash so close to the inside of the house in the heat of Florida is I put a few granules from my laundry detergent booster in the bottom of each bag after I set it up in trash can. It seems to eliminate any odor when I open the top of the trash can to put in additional trash.

We have limited garbage pick up and I was desperate to find something inexpensive that would help out with my amount of garbage. Now instead of taking out the trash every few days (or not cause I procrastinate) I simply push down on the handle and I’m good to go for another half a week!
I initially was disappointed cause I realized it wasn’t a plug in thing that would compact by itself but then after using it for the past while, it’s even better than the automated. Nothing to break, and compacts my garbage as much as promised.

Der Mlleimer ist zwar nicht ganz billig aber jeden Euro wert. Die Material- und Verarbeitungsqualitt sind wirklich topp und auch das Design ist total gelungen.
Das Beste, ich muss jetzt nicht mehr jeden Tag, sondern nur noch ein Mal die Woche den Mll raus bringen. Wegen des eingebauten Kohlefilters riecht man auch berhaupt nix.
Einziger Nachteil, der Mllbeutel ist jetzt sau schwer ;-))

Der Mistkbel ist an sich ganz nett gemacht, hat aber fr den Preis doch so einige Fehler.
Der Klapptritt ffnet anstndig, die Schliebremse funktioniert allerdings nur sporadisch.
Manchmal wenn man ganz langsam und vorsichtig ffnet, manchmal wenn man zgig aufs Pedal tritt.
Muss mir wohl die Mechanik zu Gemte fhren, um herauszufinden woran das liegen knnte.
Besser wre auerdem eine (funktionierende) ffnungsbremse, da der Deckel im Alltagsbetrieb, wenn man ohne darauf zu achten schnell mal im vorbeigehen den Trittmechanismus bettigt, recht unschn auffliegt, wieder bis zum geffneten Anschlag zurckklappt und dabei ziemlichen Krach macht, erst recht, wenn er danach wieder ungebremst zuklappt.
Fr diesen Preis eigentlich unzumutbar, das kann mancher Baumarktmistkbel besser.
Zum eigentlichen Alleinstellungsmerkmal, der Kompressionsfunktion, kann ich noch nicht viel berichten, da diese leider wirklich nur mit den originalen Scken gut funktioniert und ich noch so viele herkmmliche aufzubrauchen habe, welche beim Zusammenpressen aufgrund ihrer luftundurchlssigkeit zum Ballon werden.
Die Mechanik und die Pressteile sind jedenfalls allesamt aus Kunststoff, mal schauen, wie lange das hlt.
Alles in allem nett, aber zu diesem Preis nur fr experimentierfreudige Nerds (wie mich) geeignet.

La poubelle s’intgre parfaitement dans un intrieur moderne. Elle est bien stable et ne bouge pas d’un pouce. Le systme de maintient du sac est trs bien pens, fini les galre pour faire tenir le sac dans la poubelle. la poigne pour compresser fonctionne parfaitement mais reste peux utilis dans mon cas.
Attention cependant la poubelle est plutt grande.

La idea de compactar es muy buena y me encanta que valga cuquier bolsa de basura de 30 50 y 70 ( la de 100 no la he probado).
Como nica pega veo las bisagras un poco frgiles y me preocupa su durabilidad. Pero ya veremos, la pinta es excepcional, la verdad con aluminio por doquier.

I ordered it in January 2018 it broke in September 2018 emailed Joseph & Joseph and they are sending out a replacement compactor part so really pleased with the customer service.
Over all its a nice bin that works well.
I ordered it in January 2018 it broke in September 2018 emailed Joseph & Joseph and they are sending out a replacement compactor part so really pleased with the customer service.
Over all its a nice bin that works well.

It’s a fine concept and seems well made. I put quite a lot of pressure on the handle when I compress the rubbish and have had no issues.
It only really works if you throw away things that have a lot of air space in them. Day to day the compacting does’t seem to make a difference but every now and then when we have takeaway in the foam containers you really notice a difference.
That said the rubbish does come out in a tower. It is easily removed and the bin itself looks good.
Is it worth the hefty price tag, that’s still to be seen. Its a great concept, but with recycling most items we put in it aren’t compactable.

Works great for non recycle trash. Not designed to crush cans, bottles or even plastic. I’m very happy with it. We have regular trash, paper and cardboard as well as glass and plastic for recycle. I have to put out 3 trash cans on Fridays. I only have to empty this can once a week and I use standard trash bags. This works perfect for my situation. I’ve had it several months now, compact 2 to 3 times a week and nothing has broken. Most of the can is metal, except for the compacting handle and bag clips. Again, don’t try and compact glass, cans or plastic bottles and it works fine.

Updating my review. We have been using it for several days. Worked well, bag began to come loose after it started to get heavy. I just ordered the Joseph compose container to put food items into so the garbage can will not smell and I can use one bag longer. Will see how this works. Will rdit this review later
Updating the last review. Giving it 5 stars, works as described. Bags are staying in place. Taking trash out about once a week. Bags are sturdy and not ripping.. I am using the compost container which is working well. Now need to set up a compose outside and we should be recycling. all the way.
I love this trash can, it not only look great but it works great too! So easy to push down the trash and keep on loading it until it is really, really full. No more pushing it down with you hands and hoping you don’t get food on your hands.
I like this can, it is attractive as far as garbage cans go. My only issue thus far is that the compactor feature works well with the bags provided, store purchased bags don’t want to stay in the bag attachment and come loose from the connector. So, if you don’t mind buying the bags that are compatible with the can, the can will work very well. I have to emphasize again that store purchased bags (Store or named brand, we’ve tried both) will not work with this can.
I purchased this product because I liked the idea of using less plastic with out trash. The compacting handle is a great idea. The box does recommend using specific compacter bags. I am currently using my preexisting regular trash bags and they work well, even when compacting. The only feedback I would say could use improvement is the liner clasping mechanism. When the trash bag becomes too heavy with contents, I have noticed that the edges slip out of the rubberized plastic frame that holds in it. But again, I AM using regular trash bags at this time.

I brought this by mistake in the middle of the night, an advert came up on my Kindle and next thing I know it’s ordered, felt sick as a pig. I vowed I was going to send it back, as who pays that for a trash can?? Seems me as I fell in love with it. Great idea that actually works, saves loads of space in our bin each week. Their bags have never ripped so they are worth it as well. I may never own a fancy house or car but I have the king of kitchen bins.

I love this bin! Very easy to use and looks good. I’ve gone from having 4-5 bags of general waste every two weeks (family of 5) down to just 2!!! So for me the compacting side of it really works.

This is actually very good. It is very easy to clean, the kids love squishing the waste and it really does make the bin bag go further. We had 1 liner split, which was a headache, but other than that it looks great and does exactly what it says it will
Wir suchten einen Mlleimer gro genug ist fr gelbe Scke und der nicht ber eine Taste oder Sensor zu ffnen ist. Unsere Katze hat es nmlich geschafft die Tasten auf dem Mlleimerdeckel zu drcken und sich in den gelben Sack zu setzen. Das kann hier nicht mehr passieren.
Es gibt nicht viele Mlleimer die gro genug sind fr gelbe Scke. Hier passt der Sack ohne Probleme hinein und er reit auch nicht auf, wenn man die Presse verwendet.
Er ist nicht sehr leicht und hat daher einen guten Stand. Sind sehr zufrieden und kann ihn empfehlen.
This is the best dustbin that I have ever owned.
It looks stunning I am proud of it not needing to hide it away.
It is strong a sturdy so well made and I find now I only need to empty it once a week.
When you start to see it getting full you just open the lid and push down on the handle.
This closes the two sides together and compresses the waste together and down.
When you finally need to empty the bin you will find that there is still plenty of room in the bag but the waste is neatly compacted.
You could then empty the bag and use it again if you want to be really green, its up to you.
The bin comes with a smell filter which you fit into the inside of the lid, I haven’t needed to change it yet, its been two months.
One warning I must mention is that a friend stopped by for a cup of tea with her dog, I didn’t see that she had put her dog poo bag which was full into my bin. I didn’t smell anything until the next day when I pushed down to compress the waste when poo! the smell was so bad, the poo bag had burst with the pressure! So please don’t use it for dog waste.
I did buy some of the Joseph black trash bags which are very expensive, but I found out that you can use much cheaper brands without them splitting.

The first one delivered had some marks on the top lid, the replacement had some too but not as noticeable so we kept it. We don’t see them in ordinary use.
Only four stars because of the price, but the bin itself is worth five stars if you can get one that isn’t marked.

This thing is solid, built like a tank. The only way I can get it to rock even slightly in normal use is to set it on uneven ground. Sat snug in the place where the display end used to be a waste of space in my 90’s kitchen, it certainly brings the place closer to this side of the millennium. The surface hasn’t taken a dent even from me bashing into it in the power wheelchair. The pedal requires a firm enough touch so that you don’t feel like you’re going to tip over, and the lid opens smoothly without flying up and banging. The mechanism inside is still taking time for other folk in the house to work out how the bags go to cover over the mechanism. The squashy compactor thing I thought was a gimmick, but it is surprisingly good. I’ve had the bin in use for a week and I reckon it’s halved my rubbish volume. I live in a council area where we have a plant that separates our waste to recycle, so all my waste goes in a single bin. Today is bin day and the bin was forgotten; normally that would be a disaster, but the dustbin is only half full. Usually it would be overflowing and I’d have to beg for bin space from the neighbours. It loses a star on two counts. First the cover for the carbon filter has vanished. I’m assuming it fell into the bin somewhere at the start of the first bag. I can’t see anywhere online to buy that part as a spare either. Secondly, despite how good it it, I feel it is too expensive. Buy this, yes, you won’t regret it, but buy it at a discount.
Smart and functional
The Joseph Joseph Titan bin is a modern and elegant design that looks smart in a modern kitchen.
The compactor is a nice idea and does help compact the waste and reduce the number of times it needs to be emptied. This is somewhat of a luxury feature, pushing the waste down could be done by hand but this does offer a hygienic and convenient way of compacting things down.
Waste bags can be purchased specifically for this bin, but a variety of similar bags could be used. The bags are gripped in place around the compactor.
The thing that I’m not impressed with is the push mechanism to lift the lid. Pressing on the foot plate flings the lid open with such speed that the whole bin rocks as it reaches the end of the open range. In comparison to my previous SimpleHuman bin this is very noticeable, my previous bin softly opened with no rocking or movement of the rest of the bin.
It’s an expensive bin but it is very well made, smart and functional with the compactor. It loses a star for the lid opening rocking the whole bin.

Would I pay 200 for a bin – maybe – have paid over 100 for a recycling system in the past so maybe I would and if you wander around John Lewis there are plenty of household bins within this price bracket. What makes this one compelling is nothing to do with the item – it’s our local council. We get one black bin collection a fortnight – and over xmas etc it can be a little as 2 in 6 weeks (food waste over the winter is once a month and fortnightly over the summer – fly’s and maggots love it)
We are a family of 5 and although we recycle everything we still generate a very full black bin over 14 days – often I take a bag or 2 to the local dump (20 miles round trip so hardly good for the environment). If we want a 2nd black bin its 100 charge for the bin plus 70 a year extra and the 2nd black bin is half the size of the first one – so suddenly the idea of getting 3 times the waste in a bag becomes very attractive. and therefore within 12 months it would pay for itself.
So to the bin – looks lovely and very well made, can’t ever fault Joseph Joseph – total quality. The compactor system is a little bit less exciting in real life than the video would suggest but it works – how well depends on the rubbish – and since we don’d use it for food waste the compact-ability of hard plastic etc is less than the 3 to 1 ratio suggested but it still works!
we started using it Sunday morning and the bag was sent to the bin the this morning – so 3 days – normally our old bin would have been emptied twice and be half full again I reckon – so we should half the number of waste bags over a week.
I did buy 2 boxes of Joseph Joseph compactor bags as the ultra thin ones we tend to use may not last the compacting – and these a re thick and strong and because we are likely to use half as any the cost isn’t much more overall.
So yes – I really do think this is good value and looks great – the odour filter in the top will hopefully work – but not a problem for us as its packaging that goes in our bin not food.
I’ve knocked off a star only because the description is misleading – you cant get 90 ltrs of rubbish in a 30 ltr bin! What you can do is ensure that the 30 ltrs is fully utilised.
Our local council has recently shifted the goalposts for how many black bags the rubbish collection will take, and how frequently. I have no problem with that, it’ll encourage people to waste less, but in a family with kids, keeping the waste down to the number of black bin bags allowed is going to be quite challenging. But this bin is definitely going to be a big help.
It’s elegant and deceptively simple. The rectangular base (which just happens to be a perfect fit in the corner of our kitchen, and a much more efficient use of space than cylindrical bins) is smart, smooth and stylish. The foot pedal requires a medium amount of force and the lid flips open nice and promptly. Once you let go of the foot pedal, the lid closes smoothly, though there is a slight clang as it closes, which people seeking the most dampened noise-free kitchen possible might be a little disappointed by.
The compression system is also very simple, but it works. The way in which the handle lifts up to become a press is the only really smart bit- after that it’s just a simple squishing system that isn’t as complicated or technologically advanced in real life as the product promo video might have you believe. But the most important thing is, it really works. So long as you’ve got an adequately strong bin bag, you can press down firmly and with confidence. Stating the very obvious but the amount of space you’ll save will depend on what it is you’re trying to squish. Things like dirty paper towels, or unrecyclable plastic cartons with food on squish down a lot- other items such as nappies, not so much. So the amount of benefit everyone gets will vary.
On the big bag front, the product description says you don’t need special bin bags. I agree with this up to a point- you definitely don’t need to get the thickest, most reinforced industrial bin bags you can find, regular bin bags will do, *but* I would advise going for the cheapest budget supermarket value bin bags you can find as there will be a greater rip danger with these. Somewhere in the middle should do very nicely with this bin.
OK so the current asking price of two hundred quid is rather high for a silver bin with a squashy flap, but that aside, this is a sleek, smart and stylish bin that will be an immensely satisfying addition to your kitchen (or wherever).
I am pleasantly surprised by just how much I like this dustbin. To be very open with you, I would not have thought that I would consider spending three figures on waste management in our home, but I am now convinced it is worth the investment.
I very much like the overall look of the bin. We have an open plan living space so the bin is visible from the lounge and dining areas and this looks sleek and to my eye, quite futuristic. The anti finger print coating is part of these good looks as the bin looks clean and shiny. It really does work… just remember to clean with a soft cloth and no abrasives.
I also like the size and height of the bin. It’s a lot easier not having to bend down to put things in the bin… especially when scraping plates – much less mess.
The foot pedal is large and works brilliantly and the lid has a soft close function (which I just love!). It also locks wide open with a single click when you are replacing the bag. Very well thought out design.
Changing the bags is very easy. I am using the supplied bags. They’re currently 40p each on this site. That’s slightly more than I usually pay, but these are stronger bags that stand up to the compaction action, so I am sticking with them. I find I need to empty the bin every 3 days rather than every day, so I think I will actually save! You could use different bags… it would work fine if they are strong enough.
The design of the part that both secures the bin bag and compacts the trash is simple and elegant. The bag folds over the front and back edges, tucking into four little slots that secure it in place. No excess bag sticking out of the lid… hurrah. Compacting the trash is super easy. Lift the handle upward and allow it to slide down the integral channels. It’s a very effective mechanism. The trash is compacted down, leaving more space for more trash. The bags don’t tear. It’s so simple yet clever. Very pleasing.
I was concerned that not emptying the bin daily would mean that I could smell the bin (I am using it for landfill). This hasn’t been a problem so far. There is a carbon filter built into the lid and it seems to be an effective odour eater! These need replacing every 3 months.
In summary, it’s a bit of an investment, but this dustbin is just the best quality dustbin I have ever used in my life and because it gets used all the time, I now realise that this makes a qualitative difference to my daily life. I very much recommend this product. I feel daft rhapsodising about a bin, but I am actually chuffed to bits with it! Treat yourself. I really don’t think you’ll regret it.
