Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt’s an excellent bag and very well made but definitely not an airline approved carrier. It has such little ventilation when zipped up. I wasn’t going to spend on another carrier and this one had everything else I wanted to I cut out bits of the bags in the front and on the sides and made some vents. I stitched some mesh fabric into it. It is now very well ventilated! I can post some pictures after it’s made to look pretty if anybody else wanted to do the same. It’s just functional atm. The vents also help my dog cool off when we go on bikes and it’s quite hour outside!

The bag looks comfy for my puppy (4month old bichon), the bag quality is great and comfortable for me on the bike. Although, not sure how safe it is if you want to leave the bag open for your dog. My puppy was trying to jump many times and I hope she stops over the time, because I had to stop the bike a few times. I wish there was a net under the black fabric (the one we open so they can keep their head out) so she wouldn’t be in the dark when I have to close the pocket, for safety. I am not really sure about the value for money… but the quality is really good!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI will start off saying this is my second G Train as on the first on the waist strap came away at one side, I was sent a replacement with no issues though.

So far my second one hasn’t had the same problem with the waist strap so I can only assume it was just that one bag!

I bought this for my Chihuahua cross Miniature Pinscher (for reference he’s just under 3kg and his back is 13 inches long!) He has loads of space in the front section and can lie down, doesn’t seem to have issues with the support rods (which are very fiddly to get in, but if you slide the too end in first it’s much easier to get them in place!).
He is a touch too short to use the main vent window on the front but that works for me as he’s Satan personified and likes to bark at anything he deems unfit, so the less he can see the better
There is a clip to keep them attached to the bag,so far he hasn’t chewed through this and he hasn’t been able to make his bid for freedom when I’ve opened the bag at any point.

The side pockets hold an average sized water bottle ok, though since they also form part of the venting system I would be tempted to stash my water in the main compartment on an overly warm day.

The main compartment has plenty of space, I managed to cram a box of trainers in there (EU 38 size of anyone wants an idea of the box size ) and my dog still had enough room to be carried comfortably. I find the only issue I have is when I am adding coats and things, they tend to encroach on the “living space” but not enough to severely impact the dog space.

The shoulder straps have a couple of adjustment points and are well padded, I’ve worn the bag for a couple of hours straight and not felt overly uncomfortable. The waist strap could do with more padding, it only has minimal padding at the sides, which is fine for 10-20 minutes but after that I wish it has more as it does start to dig in a little and become uncomfortable, though bonus that this has 3 adjustment points.

The base of the bag is great, it’s like a bag stick to a box, doesn’t fall over when you put it own with the dog in, doesn’t get wet and soak through and is easy to wipe down, it can dig into your back if you set the shoulder straps too tightly but I’ve found if I adjust the top straps it sets it back to a better and more comfortable angle.

The only issues I have with this is that it doesn’t come with a waterproof cover,so when out in heavy rain it gets drenched and starts to seep into the bag,I solved this buy buying a generic cover, so far my little rat hasn’t suffocated

I have only used this for hiking, not as a dog carrier in a vehicle but I did double check how the seatbelt would go through and it went through fine.

I personally wouldn’t want to carry a dog too much heavier than mine in it for long periods, especially in warm weather where I needed to also carry water but for a dog around his weight,it’s fine and comfortable enough to wear for hikes!

    Great bag!

If you go tracking or for a trip, it is definitely the most confortable way to carry your pooch. Mine is a 9 kilos shihtzu and had no trouble with comfort..

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis has to be one of my best purchases ever. I have a 4lb Pom and a 80lb American Bulldog. When we go on longer hikes I just put Lil Mooks in the bag and we are good to go. I even use it when we are out on the paddle board. We get so many laughs and compliments on the trails when they see his little head poking out. He actually likes it too much and just wants to go in it and not walk. It fits lots of our other stuff we need for the day. It’s expensive but worth it. The quality is awesome I used to have to carry him when he got tired and my arm would get all sweaty. Now we rolling in style ans comfort.

There are lots of inexpensive options for carrying a small dog, but you get what you pay for. This backpack is more expensive, but it is the only real option if you plan to hike or carry your pet for walks over any kind of distance. It also acts as a dog carrier. I use it to carry a 14 lb. Multipoo for several miles / hours at a time. Backpack is of high quality materials and workmanship and provides a stable, comfortable solution for carrying your pet. A great product.

This is the perfect backpack to take him on our longer adventure. The sturdy base gives him reassurance and he loves to sight see! He will be 14 years old next month so it’s the perfect way to include him on our longer adventures. The price is well worth the money, very happy. Harness hook in is adjustable to your comfort so you don’t have to worry about escape artists.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersLo zaino molto comodo, robusto ben rifinito.

My dog loves this bag. We’ve used it a few times now for day hikes. He’s 10lbs and it distributes his weight so much better than the tote style carriers Ive used before. I love the different pockets and have been able to fit everything I need. I would mention that anything you put in the laptop side does impede on the dog sitting side, so I usually make sure everything is packed flat. We only use it as a hiking bag and I think Id get something different for an airline bag. I dont think there is enough headspace for him if he was fully zipped inside, since it does taper. Overall good quality and Ive been recommending it to people I see on the trails.

Have been using it for about a month now with our kitten, and I really like it. Kepler (cat) took a while to get used to not wanting to jump out, but is fine now. The hip belt could be a little lower, it sits above my hips, on my husband it sits mid back. The straps are comfy with lots of adjustments. In terms of space its a winner, means we can take the first aid kit with us, a drink bottle for both the cat and myself and i can pack a raincoat and lunch in the compartment separate to where the cat is sitting. It does though make his space smaller. He seems ok with it. It worked well on a mid length hike 6km, i didn’t get a sore back, which is important to me. There are a couple of rods inside that reinforce the pack, i kind of wish these were built into it and were sitting in their own sleeves or something like that. Overall, we are happy with it, it will be interesting to see how we go once the cat is full size at 6kg, but that has nothing to do with the way the pack is designed.

So first off, my mini Weiner/Pekingese dog didn’t like it at first. It was hard to put on with him in it. That said, I just shifted it around and wore it in front while he rested up on our hike.
When not used as a dog pack, I put a camera insert inside of it and have quick access to my DSLR and lenses. There is plenty of room to use it as a regular backpack also. I can carry water, treats, extra gloves, maps, and a tripod while hiking. The rubber bottom is priceless. I can set the pack down in snow, mud, and wet grass without the interior getting wet.
So it has become my go to backpack now.
The waist band is a lifesaver for my back!

I’ve tried a few different options. This one is the best for both my dog and I. It’s comfortable, has room for extra stuff. I use it to run errands while walking my dog, or go to places so I don’t have to leave my dog home for a long time.

My dog would beg me to put him in the backpack it’s the cutest thing so I have to write this review.

For reference, I have a mini golden doodle weights about 19lb. The small backpack is perfect. He looks cozy in there.

Also ich bin sehr zufrieden. Echtes Multitalent.

Super Stabilität und sehr guter Tragekomfort.

After seeing an adventure cat have this bag on Instagram, I knew I had to get it for my adventure cat in-training.

Initially he was spooked by it, tried to climb out of it. Luckily there is a clip to keep him in place. Now he loves it. It’s spacious, sturdy, and so comfortable. I did wonder if I’d find it difficult to hike with this extra weight on my back, but there’s so many ways to adjust the bag to make it feel so comfortable. I sometimes wear it in the front and clip it on the back and even that is comfortable. Definitely worth the investment.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersSuper!

I purchased this for me and my Parson Russell pup Daisy. She is currently 8 weeks and weighs 2kg. It is a little big for her but she will grow, I have padded the bottom with a rolled up blanket.
Honestly she really enjoys being in there, she climbs in herself and she enjoys all the attention and little treats she gets whist in it (to build a positive association). She has her last vaccinations at 12 weeks, so I bought this to carry her out in on walks, to ensure she is socialised during these important few weeks. It keeps her cost, warm and dry, and if she gets tired she can sleep in it. It is pretty chew-proof but I do take a chew toy abs her sleeping blanket with us to mouth instead of the bag. I carry her at my front currently , but when she is older and we go on longer walks I hope she will be well behaved enough to go on the back way, as that would be more comfortable for me! I absolutely love walking and hiking but a young dog won’t be able to do this until full grown, so I hope to be able to gradually build up to longer walks (of a couple hours) where she can walk and sniff around for some periods and then come up for a rest. This is important to avoid injuring your growing pet, if you are like me and are itching to get out on the trails with your new pup, please consider that and be prepared for shorter hikes for the first year, and to be carrying him/her for some of the time. A new puppy is the perfect time to introduce being carried, and you will have the added benefit of being able to safely take them places with you and giving them a wide variety of positive experiences. 🙂 it is pricey but the quality of this bag is definitely worth it, I will be using this for years (long after little daisy needs to be carried), as it makes a good sturdy hiking backpack.

Wouldn’t be without this bag now

Thought this was a bit expensive but it did look the best quality after looking at various rucksacks suitable for carrying small dogs and it is excellent quality. I can fit my shitzu sized dog in quite comfortably. I bought it because we go on long walks and after about 15 miles he can get a bit sick of walking- he only has little legs after all- there is also a fair bit of room for other things you might need to take on a hike with you, it is well padded and the bottom is solid making it more comfortable for dog, however, this makes it a heavy rucksack even when empty but it is very comfortable to wear even with dog inside.

Very pleased so far! We’ve been wanting this bag for awhile. Our dog is about 12lbs and he’s a mix of min pin, chihuahua, and dachshund. It’s very roomy with just him in it. Seems to disperse the weight very well but we’ll see when we have a fuller pack navigating the trails.

We’ll have to keep working on positive reinforcement to get him to hop in on command.

    Cool bag!

Oh how I wish my dog would have fit!
A very comfortable backpack to wear. The body straps fit nice, and the upper straps let you snug it close to your body.
Timber is 40 lbs of stocky meat. A pitbull/schnauzer mix. She is just a little too tall for this pack. However I still give it 5 stars for Alaskan adventures. It does get a bit warm in there with all the padding if your planning on being somewhere warm climate.

This backpack is a quality item. I had another brand that was useless because the floor where the dog sat would fall to your feet making it uncomfortable for the dog. (I returned it.) This pack has a well supported floor and also has fiberglass supports that hold the packs shape so airflow through the pack is no problem. If you want the pack flat, they are removable. It is well made and I have no fear of it breaking when carrying my pouch. It is a heavy duty pack. I purchased the red pack for visibility on the road when biking and I also though it would stay cooler. There was a lot of thought and care that went into this pack. The company really thought about the end user. A+ product!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis thing is great! I was hesitant due to the cost but after two cheaper carriers that were not comfortable, I decided to bite the bullet and am glad I did. I have a 9 lb poodle mix puppy who will top out at around 12-14 lbs max. I’m an avid hiker so he HAS to come with me!! He enjoys the woods but obviously he can only do so much. He took to this pack immediately and seemed quite content– didn’t fuss or fidget, and after a bit of walking he was all to happy to hop back in for another ride. The non-dog sections are generous with some convenient and well placed inner pockets, and the side mesh pockets are plenty big enough for large Nalgene bottles. The pack seems really well made and it was comfortable for me to wear (female, 5′ 7″, 140 lbs). The hard plastic bottom dug into my back a little at first but some repositioning seemed to alleviate that. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a “real” backpack to carry your pup without having to have another pack for your gear.

Best we have found yet. Would be better with extra padding all the way round to the front of the hip bone area on the hip belt, for extra stability and comfort.

Great backpack for longer hikes with our dog

It was roomy enough for my 9 lbs morkie but he wasn’t really a fan. And he was too short to see out the top. And as I said, it’s a big bulky and heavy back pack, the plastic like part on the bottom also dug into my back.

I purchased this pack at the recommendation of a friend who has a Pomeranian he takes on all his adventures. I figured it would be an excellent choice for me and my chihuahua fur baby when we go on our own hiking and traveling excursions. The pack is roomy and holds not only my dog but her leash, treats, water, appropriate clothing and some toys. There’s plenty of room for me to add my own snacks, water, maps and any layers I might need when we hit the road. It’s durable and offers me plenty of options for tailoring our supplies to fit whatever adventure awaits us.

Toll verarbeitet, allerdings Eigengeruch..
Sehr, sehr schade !

My dog is 9lbs and I was able to carry him in the backpack. The backpack is not light but not too heavy either. My dog looks he is comfortable. I put a treat in the backpack so he would go in at home to get him comfortable. Then I zipped him up and carried him in the house. When we went to hiking, we put him in the backpack when he seems tired. We did that few times and he is totally used to the backpack and he almost fell asleep the last time he was in.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGenau das was ich gesucht habe. Super Tragekomfort.

It would be nice if this bag came in some earth tone colors. The bag itself is kind of heavy but I guess that is to be expected if you’re gonna carry a 25 lb dog in it.The bottom is all rubber and there are many pockets. It works okay.

She can finally go with my pitty and I on our day hikes. Thanks Kurgo!

My 15 lb boston Max goes in it and likes the ride. It goes great with my Ebike. My town is hilly with decent bike lanes & i can enjoy taking him around town or on trails… he is a very energetic dog but he sits still in the bag. Plenty of room for his water, snacks any extras i bring.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought this to include my senior dog on hiking trips and this has been the best purchase! This is comfortable to wear and doesn’t hurt my shoulders, doesn’t smash the dog inside with the bottom being flat and he can lay down if he wanted and still fit comfortably. This is worth the price hands down. My jrt is around 9lbs, and my min pin is around 13 and she fits just fine too. I like if i wanted to set the backpack down, it doesn’t lose shape and still holds up with my dog sitting inside. I’ve gotten so many compliments during hikes and have been stopped with questions after seeing how nice the backpack is. The quality exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend

We took our 11 lbs Maltese on a 5700 mile road trip across ten states visiting five National Parks and various state parks, national forests and monuments. This backpack attracted lots of wows and why didn’t we think of it. It is well designed after we figured out how to adjust the straps for optimized support.
Most National Parks do not allow pets but we encountered many rangers who allowed us except for two. It really depends on the place and the potential risks to wildlife and your pet. It beats having to leave your pet in the cars as I saw many others did.

This bag exceeded my expectations. It is not your average dog backpack. It is well stitched, shoulder straps are extra padded so they won’t be digging into your shoulders on long hikes. The bottom is made of some type of solid, durable rubber to provide stability for your dog to sit on while in the bag. This bag did not cut any corners and includes all the bells and whistles. However, I did return. My dachshunds LOVES to hike with me. He is usually good for about 5-6 miles EXCEPT when is is 100+ degrees outside (Texas). I was looking for a bag that I could take hiking and put my dog in it for 15-20 minutes every hour or so. Just to give him a short rest while I still hiked. This bag was bigger than what I wanted to carry 3/4 of the time empty. If I was carrying my dog most of the time I would of kept it, but I went with a K9 Sport Sack instead just because it did not have the solid bottom so it takes up 1/4 the space. But when my dog gets to where he can no longer do the long hikes I will definitely be getting another Kurgo Backpack.

This is a fantastic product and perfect to use for hiking. My small 10lb Japanese Chin loved it! Safe transport, comfortable for both human and dog. Has sufficient straps and pockets and the mesh sides help with ventilation. The reason why I did not give full 5 stars is the high price point and stability – the backpack comes with two rods that are supposed to help with stability. However, even when threading them through the indicated loops, they keep slipping out and are kind of “in the way” of the main transport compartment. It seems like it could be an easy fix for the manufacturer, so hopefully they’ll come up with a newer version soon.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe have 3 dogs and are outdoors all the time. Our 2 Aussies love going on adventures but our beagle just can’t hang sometimes but we don’t want to leave him at home, so we end up carrying him a lot. He’s only 11 pounds but on longer hikes, his laziness can be problematic. We got the G9 after a lot of research on pet carriers and backpacks.

The pros so far: Well made and durable, can be used as a backpack or carrier, has support rods, has a hard bottom, back, chest and hip straps have lots of adjustments that can be made for comfort, super roomy, lots of pockets for snacks, soft bottom cover inside (where the dogs butt sits) is removable and easy to clean.

The cons so far: It’s about 98 degrees here with over 80% humidity so its HOT. No matter how vented the pack is, I don’t recommend keeping your dog in there for several hours without cooling breaks or using a cooled dog towel frequently. I recommend clipping the inside clip to a harness instead of a collar if your dog likes to wiggle or keep his/her paws out. Just be aware that it is possible to get out even when using the safety clip (aka, make sure your dog doesn’t hang themselves trying to get out)

Great for your lazy little pups that don't like being left home when you go on adventures

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGot this backpack for taking hikes with our two aging Shih Tzus and it’s worked great! The one in the photo is about 14lbs and the one in the video is 12lbs. The bag was slightly big for them (the head opening was a little too high), so we ended up putting a big towel at the bottom and that worked fine. Both dogs were super calm and happy their first time in, though our boy dog was a bit hesitant to get in. They ended up loving it and my husband said it was comfortable enough to wear. The only minor issue is the adjustable chest strap came off as it’s attached with a slider type mechanism, and we can’t seem to get it back on. For shorter hikes (about an hour of wear) it was no problem for my husband who is in good shape, though it’s a bit too heavy for me to hike with. All in all I’m glad we got it as the dogs seem to love it.

Safe for my well trained Jack-Russel on a motorbike. Can’t say my dog loves it, or hates it for that matter. She’s rather impartial but loves the destinations. The internal strap is too long but you can tie a knot (or two) in it . Use a dog harness for extra safety.

I can’t say enough great things about this bag! My 10 pound Maltese Pomeranian mix LOVES this bag! When he sees it, he tries to jump into it before I have even opened it!

What I love most about this bag is how the weight is distributed. I’ve put my dog in a regular Jansport backpack and it really hurt my back after awhile. This bag has clips that help support the weight of your dog so it doesn’t hurt your back! I’m in love

Golden Review Award: 83 From Our UsersThe bag is pretty sturdy. Only time will really tell, but for now it seems well built. It has plenty of space, pockets and adjustable straps. I’m using it to bike with my dog, so my preference would be to maximize how snug it fits to my body. Admittedly, my dog is 25 lbs, so I’m not going to be winning any races with her in the bag. I’ve ridden with her twice and she seems to love it. My dog is a Feist, so she’s about 25 lbs and pretty long. I would say it just fits her. The bag also comes with a couple support poles that effectively keep the bag from collapsing on your dog. Also, the strap for anchoring your dog to the bag is hidden under the pad at the base of the bag when you first get it. Make sure to use it, especially if on a bike because a 25 lbs dog leaping out of the bag at speed would be catastrophic. For now, I’m very pleased. Should anything change I’ll update my review.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGorgeous bag. Feels super sturdy, and has plenty of room for my lil 4.8kg (10lb) Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Worth every penny. I mean I wish it hadn’t cost QUITE so many pennies hahaha but I regret nothing!

The top mesh is opaque enough that doggo is concealed and can be taken pretty much anywhere in stealth mode. I’ll be covering the Kurgo logo with a patch so that people don’t see the dog image and realize I’m not alone 🙂

The only shortcoming I’ve noticed so far is the hip/waist belt. It’s fine for helping stabilize the pack, but does nothing to distribute weight off my shoulders and onto my hips. Pleeeease fix this in the next version!!

I love this bag! It fits my dog but then I can also use it as a regular backpack if my dog chooses to walk instead! I am a medium sized woman and I need to use the clasps at the top of the chest for support while carrying my 13 lb dog in it. I wish that it could be pulled tighter. Even with it pulled as tight as possible , there is still too much movement and therefore my dog is not stableized. I love the quality but encourage the company to offer another smaller size or be clearer with their description.

Our 18.5 dog with back problems seemed to enjoy himself after hiking for a while on his own and then being put in here. ( prepped with treat through the hole the day before). Able to put his front paws also through the hole which took pressure off his back. Appreciate the center and top handle to lift him on and off without having to swing too much by shoulder straps. Would like better hip belt. He did well for several miles. Product very sturdy and well constructed. Appreciate room for hydration bladder and pockets. Happy to be able to hike together again.

I was a bit scared of spending this much money on a carrier, but it was well worth it. My little dog and I travel together and having to carry him, his bag, my backpack, and a small suitcase is a lot. This backpack has a good amount of extra space to hold the things we need to access in flight , which means no extra bag! It fits both of us great and is super comfortable even when loaded with my dog, his stuff, and my stuff. It’s pretty easy to put on, although there will be a learning curve for you and your dog if you’ve not used a dog backpack before. It does fit under the plane seat, but if the additional interior rods are in the main compartment, it won’t fit as easily. I has to really shove it in there. We highly recommend this product.

Awesome pack! My 16 lb dog is 15 years old and has arthritis so she couldn’t do long walks or hikes with me. She struggles on hills and certain surfaces like gravel. I started carrying her in my arms but quickly realized that wasn’t going to be a permanent solution. Once I got my kurgo pack delivered though, I could stick her in and carry on with my day. She loves it! She curls up in there if it is a cold day or she looks out if she is feeling social. I do have to put some blankets on the bottom to give her a boost so she can see out and be properly situated though. It also has tons of other pockets and compartments for all the dog’s gear and my gear. I use it all the time! Totally worth it.

I bought this backpack for my GF’s birthday so she could take our Ragdoll cat on hikes. She couldn’t be happier. For now our cat weights about 3kg’s and the backpack was comfortable on the hikes we did, longest one being around 15km. It is a little hard on the lower back as mentioned in other comments, but this hasn’t been a problem at all.
Can not comment on durability yet, but it seems really well made and sturdy. It looks like a normal backpack, the red color is nice. We are very happy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis backpack/dog carrier is really sturdy. Unfortunately our dog would not stay in it. We did clip her harness to the strap that is supposed to keep her in but that did not work. It may have worked with a collar but she is too small for a collar. Had to return it.

This is a great, well-made backpack. I only did the four stars due to the fact that I thought there was a more mesh-like cover for the dog to breath thru if they were totally inside the bag. As it turns out, it is a breathable material but not as open mesh as I thought. With a breed with breathing issues I feel less comfortable to zip the closure with my dog inside. But my lil Frenchie loves it! He is calm once in it and likes being closer to me versus on a leash.
I do know that it’s not a built as a seat belt harness- of which I do own multiple- I only weaved the seat belt thru so he wouldn’t tip forward.

    Great quality!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have a 20# terrier that isn’t fond of going for walks. She also has bad back legs. I researched a lot of dog carriers and found this Kurgo accepts the biggest weight and lets my girl sit in a natural position. She absolutely loves riding in it. I do get a little tired and worn after about 3/4 – 1 mile…but she is heavy and I’m not a spring chicken! So she pulls a little on my shoulders. But I don’t have anything digging into my back or such. I only have one (minor) issue. The chest straps are adjustable, thus, they don’t have a super secure connection. If you try to pull on the strap to adjust while the pack is loaded with your dog, they may detach from the main pack. Just make sure adjustments are made prior to and you shouldn’t have any issues then. Highly recommend this pack!

Quite expensive for a back pack but very sturdy and well made. Quite deep pocket for dog I have to pad it out with lightweight towels etc so my two tiny Yorkies can see out. no loops for stabiliser rods at top

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy dog loves this bag. He jumps right into it when I put it down on the floor. The storage is useful but makes it hard if your dog wants to lay down for space. My dog is a V long boy 18lbs, and he sits comfortable inside it. He also enjoys laying down in it. Great for the train! Wish the bottom wasn’t so hard so when he’s out of it it wasn’t too wide. Overall good!

love this for my 10 lb chughuahua. i like that i can buckle it into my car easily by putting the belt through the handle, and then take him with me on my back at our destination. my only complaint is that one of the bars on the inside keeps slipping out of its loop and I have to readjust it once a week or so. also, i’d like if the tether could be made even a bit shorter. even at its shortest, he can still get his front half out of the hole and hang his feet over the side. not a real complaint as he still cant go anywhere, but until I train him to stop fidgeting when he wants to greet someone, i might have to shorten the tether a bit myself. love this bag!!!

Golden Review Award: 61 From Our UsersSehr schner hochwertig verarbeiteter Rucksack. Tolle Qualitt.

    Super Rucksack

Approved.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersBefore splurging on this Kurgo backpack, I bought so many cheap dog backpacks… They’re all trash compared to this one. This is by far the most comfortable one we’ve got for both myself and my 11lb doxie. She has chronic lyme and sometimes needs to be carried home mid-walk. This is ideal. I can even imagine taking her hiking with this — something we could never really do with any other carrier we’ve had. She’s really short, so we’ll put a pillow in the bottom of it for her, but otherwise this is perfect. I should have bought it years ago.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWe used this for an old, 30lb, mini Aussie mutt, which is on the large end for what is expected. He wasn’t used to bags, but was cool with sitting in it for awhile to rest while we continued hiking. The bag was comfortable on the shoulders, though some more padding on the waist straps would not have gone amiss. The strap inside to keep the dog from jumping out was super useful, though had to be sinched pretty small to work well since he was already tall enough to just step out of the bag. Overall, great bag for taking dogs hiking, especially with limited options working for heavier dogs.

I was thinking to return it if I don’t like it after the trip with my cat to Europe. But it is so good that I will keep it even though I bought too many travel bags for my cat! Carry with your pet with this backpack is very comfortable and my cat has a lot of air when the flip all opened. Its a good bag for walking around with your pet but not a travel bag on the plane. I brought one classic soft pet carrier on the plane and switch my cat at the last min before I was boarding. Strong materials and worth to pay over $100

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI was skeptical at first spending so much on a backpack, but I knew I wanted a sturdy one, that could fit more than just my dog. This pack is awesome. I can fit my French Bulldog no problem in it (She is just shy of 18 lbs) though if she gets too much bigger it will be a snug fit. There is so much about this pack that I appreciate. There are area’s for water bottles, duel support straps, a sturdy bottom so it doesn’t get destroyed when you set it down, and extra room and compartments for lots of things (to include a well placed compartment I put an ice pack to help cool down my pup) I am super happy with this purchase. If you are an adventurer and bring your animal this is the way to go.

Just what I was looking for. Comfortable, discreet, and big enough to fit my 17 pound lanky poodle/Pomeranian. Great quality and sturdy, but the extra poles inside the bag to help it keep its shape doesn’t stay in place so they’re essentially useless and I got rid of them. This bag is soft-sided so it won’t keep its shape, but my dog seems to be fine with that. She does try to jump out – even though it has a tether to keep her tied in, she will still try to jump out and choke herself.

Only downside is lack of air flow. The “mesh” on the bag is still fairly thick so it doesn’t allow for airflow, and my dog seems to get hot very quickly if it’s fully closed. I saw another review where they put grommets on the bag so I installed 8 grommets to try to help with air flow.

Great for planes – fits under seat.

I got this carrier for my 16 lb Boston terrier (he has luxating patellas and cannot walk as far as he used to). He fits well in it and it is the only carrier we’ve tried that he hasn’t hated + attempted to escape from. The first time we put him in it, he didn’t seem to mind it and then we put it on the floor and open the zipper and he just stayed sitting in it! It’s very sturdy, SO many pockets and will be great for hikes and general wandering about with Jasper in tow. Only draw back was it’s a pretty expensive but we are happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy dog is 8 lbs, we took him hiking and canyoneering, he did great. The waist strap doesn’t really help with the weight distribution, so most of the weight was on the shoulders. The backpack is huge but I guess it makes sense if you want to put a pet that is up to 25 pounds in it. I had some room in the back pocket to put my hiking stuff with my dog in it. Overall this backpack is great for taking the dog that might be too little or too old to be walking long distance.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersPlenty of space for your own belongings and your dog. Most dog carriers assume your dog wants to lie down while you are walking. This lets my dog sit up how she likes while I’m walking. Also most carriers have very limited storage. I looked long and hard for this. My only wish is that they would make a smaller version that would count as a purse on the airline. My dog is only 5 lbs. it fits two 5 lbs dogs if they get along well. When sitting my dog can watch out the mesh from the sides although the top opening is essentially a skylight for her. Dear manufacturer, please make this exact design with a “15-“18″ height for smaller dogs/airline carryon. While the 22” appears to work as a carry on, because its soft, I’m afraid it’s size would be a question if I carried on a roller bag too. The bag is nicely constructed.

Golden Review Award: 46 From Our UsersThis backpack dog carrier really lived up to my expectations. It is well-designed (the folks at KURGO really put some thought into the design), made of durable materials and functional. I have a 10 pound dog, and he’s able to get in and out of the carrier on his own. It’s roomy enough for him to lay down and look out the mesh panels, or sit and stick his head out of the zippered opening. The padded back and adjustable straps make it comfortable to wear. There are plenty of storage compartments for my gear and his things as well. Two weeks in and I have absolutely no complaints. This carrier seems like it will definitely hold up over time, and one I’ll continue using.

Golden Review Award: 74 From Our UsersJust received it in the mail. This is my initial observation: sturdy, well-made, and surprisingly well-designed in some little details. We live in a city with comprehensive public transportation system, and our dog loves to travel by subway or train to various places (e.g., park) on a weekly basis. It has been unbelievably difficult to find a carrier of any kind with ergonomic designs for humans, then we stumbled upon G-Train announcement.

    A few things I’m impressed by G-Train:
    1) the soft-shell-like bottom under the pet compartment is a better design than any of the carriers I’ve seen/researched on.
    2) the storage compartment is generous, we won’t have to pack another bag for short trips anymore!
    3) thickness of the straps for weight distribution.

Things I wish could be improved:
    1) the removable pad inside the pet compartment contains a thick cardboard, instead of plastic-like material. This means it’d be hard to clean once it gets wet. It also makes placing an ice pack in there in summertime difficult.
    2) the “laptop sleeve” is smaller than I expected. Its size is better suited for a decent sized tablet than laptop. It ought to be advertised as such.

Will update this review if anything changes. Hopefully it doesn’t wear out fast.
Overall verdict by our pup: refusing to leave G-Train after a test drive.
