    It's an amazing machine
I’ve had a wide variety of coffee machines over time, (krups, filter, bean to cup, espresso) However this machine tops them overall.

Its incredibly easy to use! Simply add your milk up to the desired line on the mug, put the lid/whisk on, pop your coffee pod in and then simply press the mug button which matches the line you filled tyour milk upto on the mug. It heats and whisks the milk, making it hot and frothy, then brews and adds the coffee! how simple is that?!

No mess, really easy to empty and i’ve used it for about 5 days straight now without feeling the need it needs a deep clean, i’ve just rinsed the waste container and drip tray out at the end of each day.

Its honestly the easiest machine i’ve ever used.

Coffee quality is probs 7/10. I purchased a selection of different lavazza pods and some are nicer than others, but its personal preferance, and depends on which pods you use for how much water/milk etc you use. Its just a learning game and you soon get the knack for it.
I’m one for a nice latte and this machine makes coffees just as nice as most coffee shops, perhaps better than some. its cheaper too!

    Must have for coffee lovers
Morning cappucino made in seconds! I didn’t knew what i was missing until i got this lavazza coffee machine. I got lots of compliments from visits on how good the coffee is.

The only drawback is that there is only one desea mug included in the pack

great pod alternative to a bean to cup machine
I mainy drink espresso but I do enjoy the odd latte/capuccino so this is perfect for that. only 1 mug is supplied and they’re 15 a pop so factor that into purchase if you need more.
Paid 99 on sale from Amazon so absolute bargain over a standard espresso only machine.

AFAIK there is an AEG machine that is similar/compatible if you need spares so check there as Lavazza can be a bit pricey

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI think I found the perfect machine!
I’m not exactly a coffee connoisseur, but I do like a good cup of cappuccino.

I’m not ashamed to say that my favourite bought-in coffee is McDonald’s cappuccino, and I don’t care too much either for any of the big coffee chain’s offerings.

Now, I’ve had four coffee machines to date, beginning in 2013 with a bean to cup machine by Severin (which had a firmware fault and was returned) followed by a Melitta. That Melitta turned me into a coffee snob at the office, where the obligatory jar of Nescafe produced what I preferred to call “a cup of Cardboard”, so I stuck with Tea.

Come the summer of 2018, I decided to seek out a machine suitable for the office use, and I ended up buying a Lavazza Jolie pod machine for 39. That impressed me so much with it’s simplicity and convenience, that I decided to replace the cumbersome-by-comparison Melitta machine I had at home with another Jolie. However, because the price of the Jolie had since risen to close on double, I went out and instead bought a Nespresso pod machine for 50, for use at home.

No matter what pods I bought for the Nespresso, I could not match the standard of the coffee I enjoyed at work, courtesy of the Jolie. So I passed the Nespresso on to a relative and bought the Lavazza Magia, which has served me faithfully until this past week when it started to stop short of the full measure when dispensing the coffee. It was either simply stopping, or coughing and spluttering toward the end of the measure.

I like a fair bit of milk in my coffee, so in order to avoid faffing around with milk frothers and the like, and not wanting to add cold milk, I simply part filled a mug with milk, microwaved it for 1 minute, then transferred the mug to the Magia to dispense the coffee. A quick stir, and done.

Enter stage left, the Desea, and WOW, what a difference a bit of steam makes!

I was about to purchase the Idola which is the closest replacement for the Magia, but came across the Desea by chance. Now I am somewhat hard pushed to tell the difference between my coveted Maccie’s cappuccino, and a large cappuccino produced by this machine.

Having the whisk and steam wand integrated into the lid that sits atop the mug (albeit having to be the special Lavazza mug) is pure genius.
Now I simply add cold milk to the marked level (no more trips to the microwave), attach the lid, pop into the machine, and press the button. The controls automatically switch to milk based recipes as soon as you attach the mug with it’s special lid atop.

The result after the entertaining-to-watch preparation which whisks and steams the milk is a truly satisfying frothy cappuccino, equally pleasing to my palette as the aforementioned McDonald’s benchmark. I the Lungo Dolce pods and have had two today already.
As other reviewers have stated, you can buy extra mugs from the Lavazza website for 15 each, but f you’re not wanting whisked or steamed milk, you can of course use any mug, with programmable buttons to dispense your desired amount of coffee.

If you like your coffee hot rather than fairly hot, then the temperature boost button will accommodate you.

On the negative side, don’t believe Lavazza’s claim that this machine is “completely silent” – it’s not!
Well it is if its turned off I suppose, but certainly not in operation. BUT it is a lot quieter than the Magia it has replaced, so I guess that’s really a positive.

In my humble opinion, this machine is a little mechanical marvel that produces (for me) the perfect cappuccino. Now if only they would add on a chocolate sprinkler 🙂

A word of purchasing advice: this machine varies greatly in price. On Lavazza’s own website it is 249. Amazon’s headline price is 199, and currently (Feb 2022) it is offered for 149. Also different pricing for different colours.
I could have paid 115 pounds from an Amazon third party seller, but I don’t trust the returns procedures for marketplace sellers, therefore I paid 125 and bought it directly from Amazon. If you’re considering buying one, keep an eye on the price or use a price tracker. You might just save yourself a few quid.

    Amazing but pricey
The coffee is amazing, it actually tastes like propper barista coffee, far outshines my previous pod machine. It is a little pricey at 146 from amazon or 200 from lavazza but if you can stretch to it get one. It’s so quiet and simple to use. The milk frother is a plus but the milk isn’t quite as frothy as I expected but I’ve not had one before so didn’t really know what to expect. I like the versatility of you being able to make drinks how you want to by adjusting the settings and adding an extra shot if you fancy it. The storage bin for the pods is a neat idea and it even let’s you know when your bin is full and the tank is out of water. Overall if you can then dig deep very deep as it is a little expensive for good quality coffee but if your a coffee fan then I’m sure you won’t mind paying for the quality

    Best Coffee Best Machine
No need for separate milk container or frother. All in one model. Just put milk and the pod of your and coffee is ready in 90 sec.

I have tried all types of machines cheap and costly with all bells and jingles. Have mot found a better more convenient and silent machine than this.

    Great coffee, great texture

Dislike – I thought I would be limited to Lavazza and other partner pods but they have a decent range of spreads and flavours including decaf ones.

    Eco pods available too.

I cannot write an indepth review as it was bought for my son and his girlfriend as a present for their new home – it was exactly as the package and they were thrilled with it.

    This one's amazing
This one came on as a great deal for only 100 but is worth twice as much .Having previously used Minu and Fantasia it came as no surprise that this one’s gonna perform better. As opposed to Minu, this one is more automated, and also as opposed to Fantasia, this one is built with more quality and some cool features. The glass cup seemed more cool than it actually is, because you only get one and there’s no chance of buying an extra cup. Programs are more than enough for home/personal use. I am a bit skeptical on the lever but let’s hope it will hold thousands of coffees.

Excellent machine - beware different descaling mode settings
Simply brilliant machine, excellent coffee, although limited to the one mug which is supplied. Really easy to maintain, use it for Lattes more than anything, simply remove the whisking attachment from the top and rinse after use. If you want a quick coffee with no fuss this really is a superb machine. Just one thing to mention, thought the machine had malfunctioned when operating descaling mode for first time, – beware lavazza changed the configuration of the buttons you press – depends which serial number you have. Enter your serial number on their website and it will tell you which to use. (The youtube video for mine was incorrect, mine was free dose and long espresso button, not espresso and long espresso buttons). Make sure you empty the waste bin when the indicator comes on too, easily accessed but nearly got a capsule stuck by ignoring the warning light. Hope this helps!

    Best coffee machine ever!
This is the best home coffee machine I’ve ever know, it makes every kind of coffee you could want and it makes it well, very well! Added to the quality of the coffee that it makes is the recyclability of its pods or the compostability of them depending on which type you opt for, all in all it’s a big winner!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMakes lovely coffee
I’m sort of new to coffee (there are three types in my book – white, black and milky), and as a newbie I like milky coffee. This machine makes wonderful frothy milky coffee’s. If you are new to coffee machines, it is sooo easy to use (watch one of the Lavazza videos) – drop pod in, turn it on, press the desired size of drink (three choices, and a manual ‘keep pouring until I tell you to stop’ button).

    Well worth the money!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAn amazing coffee machine!
I absolutely love this machine – makes the best cappuccinos and does everything well. You can adjust the amount of milk froth and the temperature which is a major plus. The only thing (And the most frustrating) is that the machine is pretty much useless if you don’t have the Lavazza Desea Mug (That comes with it) but you only get one, and as others have mentioned – it’s impossible to buy another as they’re constantly sold out and you can’t get anything similar/ or elsewhere. They’re only available on the Lavazza website. So if you accidentally break it, or just want more so you can make cappuccino’s etc. For others – you can’t get another and will have to buy another machine essentially. It’s so disappointing when otherwise I’d be in love with everything about this coffee machine.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMakes good coffee and lovely frothy warm milk
Easy to use and keep clean once you get the hang of it. Makes lovely coffee on the 3rd setting. The 2 smaller settings ones are too small. Unless you drink espressos the way Italian truckers do. The shape and size of the pods are different to the popular one on the market so variety is limited. I love the milk frothier. So far so good. Small and compact not taking too much surface space.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersLavassa Desea Coffee Machine, what are you waiting for!
Great replacement machine for the Fantasia, the problem with the eco pods have now been overcome with the Desea. Many of the coffee’s are made automatically by pressing a button for your desired coffee drink. This machine is very versatile and has loads of useful features including a temperature button for a hotter drink and a button for extra froth. All drinks are made in an included real glass jug/drinking cup. I use it to make latte coffee my favourite. I pour my milk into it after measuring it out in a favourite cup, allowing slightly less milk, taking account of the steam frother. I pour my measure of milk into the provided real glass cup/jug and then put the pod into the machine slot. Next step push the temperature button once, it shines brighter, for a hotter drink and then press the milk only button. I then add any sugar to my cup and then pour the milk from the real glass cup/jug onto it. I then remove the cup spill tray from the machine and place my mug under the dispenser. I then press my hotter drink button again, and followed by my coffee shot selection. The machine then dispenses coffee into my milk in my preferred mug. A quick stir to dissolve the sugar and my latte is ready. So you don’t have to just use the machine selections you can make other drinks. I also use the technique described to use my Lavazza Desea Machine for hot chocolate drinks. Some things to remember, the glass cup/jug provided, does not have a lip for pouring, so take care. You only get one glass cup/jug for drinking from, if you intend to use it as a cup you probably need another one, unless you are a hermit. You can purchase the glass cup/jug from Lavazza at 15 each. Your drinks from this machine are only limited by your imagination. I recommend this machine. Watch out for the deal of a Lavazza Desea machine for a 1 and a years subscription. Good value for money, check their site prior to purchasing. If you want good tasting
Lavazza coffee and an impressive machine go to Amazon, what are you waiting for!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIt does most of the things you want it to do.
A very good machine that delivers all types of coffee. The only niggle I have is that you can’t put a mug in the dispenser and expect to be able to fill it with one press of a button. The manual says that each button is programmable but only to a specific volume, so you have to use the manual dispenser to fill the mug. Not the biggest problem in the world, but a bit annoying.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersGreat coffee pod machine produces superb tasty coffee with a range of options
I did a fair amount of research before making this purchase. This machine received best buy reviews from several places as the best mid range coffee pod machine currently available. It looks stylish, has a relatively compact footprint on a kitchen worktop, feels well put together, and had a unique milk whisk frother in a separate stylish glass mug/jug. It also has a range of drink size options and the ability to increase the temperature of the coffee.

Having ordered this, it came promptly in 3 days, was sensibly packaged, and fairly straightforward to set up. The milk drinks are fascinating to watch being made, and the washing up is just the jug and the milk frother, so easy low maintenance. The coffee produced tastes great, and being able to boost the temperature to get a nice hot coffee is great, an option we use most of the time.

3 negative points several other reviewers have highlighted that I would back up.

1.It only comes supplied with 1 glass jug/mug for making milky drinks, so if a couple both want a milky drink, you have to pour the first one into another mug. which is a faff and destroys the look of the coffee, so 2 mugs should be supplied, and it also needs a pouring nick in the jug, as it tends to dribble out when being transferred, making a mess. You can order an additional mug, but they cost 15 a time, rather exorbitant , and not currently available anyway as out of stock.

    2. Sometimes the pod does not always drop into the container below when the coffee making has finished, but normally if you move the sturdy handle up and down a second time it does the trick.

    3. The container for used pods sometimes has indicator light flashing showing it is full, when it is not, and seems to be a bit of water in the bottom of it regularly, not a big problem, just a minor inconvenience.

The good news is that Lavazza have made these pods Eco Capsules that are compostable, so guilt free and a greener option than counterparts, but not on a home compost heap, only via a local authority food caddy, so going in the right direction, but not perfect. The other issue I was aware of beforehand is that the capsules are not as readily available in smaller supermarkets like our small town Co-op so you have to order either direct from the manufacturer, or online, or go to a bigger supermarket.

The machine is one of the more expensive, around 190 – 200. The great news is there is an offer on at the moment from Lavazza where you can get this machine, or several others they offer for just 1, but you have to sign up for a subscription for 8 future deliveries of coffee pods from them. Having worked out the maths, this is still a fantastic offer well worth taking advantage of, you will still be quids in with a lovely VFM virtually free machine. The agreed contract for pods direct with Lavazza will cost a bit more than buying them through say Amazon direct, but nothing like the overall value of the initial coffee machine.

Despite the minor niggles I have listed above, this is still a great machine producing a fine cup of coffee that I am really pleased with . If the glass jug/mug can be redesigned with a pouring lip, and 2 supplied with each new machine, it will be even better.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersGreat machine and easy to clea
This is my first purchase of a coffee machine. I wanted decent coffee but without the hassle of a full blown all dancing coffee bean machine and all the cleaning that entails. I like Lavazza coffee and a demo confirmed the taste. All well and good, still the price is a bit stiff I thought. However I am delighted with the machine. No issues whatsoever. Produces good expressions, and the milk whisker is so easy to use and a quick rinse afterwards is all that is required. It ticks all the boxes. Capsules can be put into the compost bin is also high on my list. Tried most of the coffees, can’t detect much of a change in taste but can detect the different strength levels – probably my taste buds are not refined enough. Produces hot coffee quickly ( always use the extra hot setting). Only gripe is that you have to use the Lavazza mug for making lattes and milk whisked coffee. The mug or more correctly- jug is hardly elegant and this could be a far better and more elegant design. A spare mug also costs 15 which is a rip off. The biggest compliment comes from my wife, a confirmed ground coffee lover, she turned her nose up at my purchase, however she is now a fan and looks forward to her daily cup. Recommend the machine – Lavazza if you read this please design a cup that does not look like a 70’s Pyrex jug!
